Speaker 1 (00:03):
Now to chim Zaki with the Panthers postgame show exclusively
on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
We all saw it, Kevin, you know absolutely, we called it.
We never lose two in a row. I said it
was our mathematicon it was our week to win. It
was our week to win. That's what you told me
last week. You said all week gets. The simplest way
of knowing what's going to happen next with your Carolina
Panthers is every other week, and this was the good
week as they rise back up and win over. I think,

(00:35):
by most people's opinion, the best team in the NFL
the La Rams thirty one twenty eight in dramatic fashion
getting a late touchdown. Tenero McMillan doesn't have a catch
all day, all day. It was targeted, I think once
prior to that forty three yard touchdown on fourth and
two with six and a half to go. And then
Derek Brown just continues to amaze forces of fumble, sack, fumble,

(00:56):
DJ Waham recovers at Panthers, run out the clock, and
so many superlatives to get you.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
And don't forget that Derek Brown the very first interception
that Nick Scott got that was due to Derek Brown.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
Derek Brown took tremendous pressure.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
It tips the ball up and it's a beautiful ball
where Nick Scott gets the interception. But Derek Brown I
saw at one play there was two the three guys
trying to block him and he was holding his ground
to lot the linebacker to go ahead to get the tackles.
So it's not we can't say enough and enough superlatives
how well Derek Brown plays.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
He is truly one of the best.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Defensive tackles that we had here on this team and
in the league right now, No doubt about it, no
doubt about it.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
Yeah, and the running game comes through again as well.
He got Rico daddoll. I think we had like fifty
eight yards eighty three yards for Truebahaber. They combined for
over one hundred fifty yards.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
On thirty five year thirty five carries and thirty five
carries as opposed to nine exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
And I think the coach was talking about wanting to
be balanced. Well he kind of went over. Boy he
was running the all but you have to run the
ball against the rams. Why you got to eat up
time on the clock. The best way to beat the
Rams is to hold the ball as long as possible
and give them limited opportunities to go ahead and score.
And we were able to do that. That third quarter

(02:15):
was it was crazy. I'm like, do we hold the
ball for like twelve minutes?

Speaker 5 (02:18):
And so that's insane and they had almost eleven minutes
more time of possession the Panthers did.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
So this was really a team win, indeed, and I
thought the coaches called a really good game.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
I thought that.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Bryce played extremely well through the ball extremely well. I
thought the receivers stepped up. Jayalen Coca comes to mind.
The receivers just all stepped up. And so this was
a game that we had to have too. I mean,
in your home turf, you really got to have this
game against this opponent.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
You take that.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
And so I'm tired of seeing this jeccolin hide because
I really think that the true Panthers are what.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
We saw today, and we felt like they did a
lot of things last week, just set themselves up for
six in San Francisco. They just didn't cash in on
those turnovers early on. If they had first and goal
at the one had cashed in, that might have been
a very different game last week. So again that final
score didn't really indicate how the Panthers could have been
had a Monday night game that was much better than

(03:15):
it was. Then they followed up by bouncing back and
doing what they do today.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
And here it is a cheek. It's about seizing a moment.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
That interception by Jackson, right, you could just take the
interception and.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Run out of biles, so you fall down.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Instead he takes the he takes it to the house
for a testdown.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
That's what I'm talking about.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
You never get that opportunity back because you're hardly going
to be able to get the opportunity where the ball
is thrown perfectly where you get a chance to inter
up and get a chance to score a testdown. When
you have the opportunity, you got to seize the moment.
And I'll tell you what jack I thought. Jackson seized
the moment, and I thought that pass that Nicoua caught
on him, that was just a great play by receiver

(03:58):
catching the ball with one hand, and even though he
got his head into Jackson to go ahead and look
like to disturb or disrupt the ball, that was just
a great play for.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Their gloves made out of that.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
I don't know stick them. I don't know these gloves.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Layson Ransom Stepping played every bit as good as Merrick
might have hoped too. Played eleven tackles in this game,
and he had a quarterback shack.

Speaker 6 (04:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
You know when you look at the way he's played,
and you know, Mary goes out, opportunity comes in and
steps in and makes some big plays.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
No dropping, that's all, no drop its I like the
way he plays because he plays with that ferocite like
Mike Minner played with. And then when he hits you,
this dude's trying to knock him in the next week.
I kid you not. I like the way he comes
up there that made him that big old smash, that
that pop that he puts in there. I love the
way he plays. And then he's only gonna get better
because he was coming down as like a linebacker like

(04:49):
Mary does. And he did not disappoint. Listen to me
right now, he did not disappoint at all.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
And I'll tell you what I'm listening.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Yeah, and I'm gonna tell you moving forward, is he
talking about it?

Speaker 4 (05:01):
I think he's a guy who could be a starter.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
I thought that at the beginning of the season, and
I still heart firm that he can be a starter.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
The soul can richeson be a starter.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
I'll tell you what the safety here, don't get into
it because you got two guys win in the wings,
Richson and Ransom, who could go ahead and take a position.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
The only negative news, Mike, the Buccaneers went down to
the wire, but they beat Arizona twenty seventeen. So the
Panthers will not catch Tampa Bay today, not today. But
we're breathing down their necks still half a game back.
That means we were tied for first again. Momentarily, we'll
do scores coming up next segment. We'll take a break there.
We had Jordan Gross our legend of the game. We'll

(05:40):
be joining us later on in this post game show.
We'll go here from Coach Dave Canalis and some of
these Panther players and a lot more as we are
here and come join us for the fifth quarter show
in the North Lounge where the Panthers upset the La
Rams thirty one, twenty eight on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network,

(06:02):
and we are back.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
In a fifth quarter, getting ready for the drive around
the league. But first let's pause ten seconds through station identification.
This is the Carolina Panthers radio network back at the
fifth quarter with Jim Zochi and Eugene Robinson I and
Mike Pachico. This drive round the League brought to you
by the Honda Dealers of the Carolinas. Of course, in
this game, Carolina improves two seven and six, a thirty

(06:23):
one twenty eight win over the Rams.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Couple games also final right now.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
San Francisco last week's opponent on Monday night, San Francisco
knocking off Cleveland twenty six to eight on the road
at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland for ock pretty one
hundred and sixty.

Speaker 6 (06:38):
Eight yards in the air.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
In that game, he was sixteen of twenty nine. Of course,
Christian McCaffrey had a touchdown on the ground. Only twenty
carries fifty three yards. Not a lot of rushing yards
for him, but he does get a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
On the ground.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
Tampa Bay, as Jim mentioned earlier, just edges by Arizona
at home twenty to seven team Baker Mayfield eighteen of
twenty eight hundred nine four yards touchdown, no interceptions there.
Jacoby Brissett for the Cardinals three and one yards in
the air, two touchdowns he had won interception games going
down to the wire. Houston at Indianapolis right now, and

(07:12):
it's the Texans leading twenty to sixteen. New Orleans at Miami,
trailing right now, twenty one to seventeen, the Jets and
the Falcons in the Medalands all even at twenty four apiece.
Jacksonville looking to go on and win this game. Three
twenty two left in that game in Tennessee, they have
a twenty five to three lead coming up in about
four minutes. You have Minnesota at Seattle, the Lake four

(07:35):
o'clock games, Las Vegas at the LA Chargers, Buffalo at
Pittsburgh tonight, Denver is at Washington, the Monday night game,
the New York Giants at the New England Patriots, and
then you have the Honda drive around the league.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Tell you two the bigger plays were on fourth down
and they were surprise plays.

Speaker 7 (07:53):
You had the.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Fourth and three to Jalen Coker, which turns into a
thirty three yard touchdown, and then you get the fourth
and two, which is a forty.

Speaker 6 (08:02):
Three yard touchdown to t Mac.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
I mean, it was just amazing that those are situations
where you go for fourth down, you're thinking something short,
something high percentage. If you throw, maybe you run something
even there to the longest pass plays of the game went.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
For touchdown, and so odd on that to play with
the t mac leget and t mac almost ran into
each other a little bit. And then as he's running
it's called a deep over. As he's running a deep over,
he does a smart thing. Instead of running straight to
the sideline, he takes it up the field right and.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
Bryce realize he's gonna take up the field. He throws the.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Ball down the field and now it puts the deficitve
back and to precarious position. He's not in position like
he was because uh t mack decided to go up
the field as opposed to across the field. A good
play and a good way of just working with each other,
you know, in practice and knowing what the other person likes.

Speaker 5 (08:50):
And the throat of Coker, I mean that was right
in the bread beast over the shoulder and he just
put his hands.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Out and he was up to the races after that.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
And in the rain and in the rain, it's just
like blame it on the rain, not any situation. If
you're the Rams. If you're the Panthers, you love that
it was raining, But I tell you what, it was
just a well rounded effort. As far as the commitment
to running the ball, we mentioned thirty five rushing attempts
for Cuba en Rico after getting nine last week.

Speaker 6 (09:14):
It was kind of again.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
I think the element of surprise certainly helped on the longer.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
Touchdown passes in there.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
But the defense is the story. All the guys that
were out of this game, exactly this offense, the exactly
three takeaways. He had two sacks in the game. Derek
Brown disrupting like he always does, making big plays with
the tipped pass, elegit interception, a forced fumble that led
to a takeaway. I mean, just having Derek Brown out
there in the middle, just as for so much.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
He's a difference maker. Luk. He reminds me a lot.
Some of you guys may not remember.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Cortes Kennedy played with Sea Hall of Famer he in
the Passing Away about maybe four or five years ago.
Warren Sapp, Yeah, you know, he's he's just that guy.
Aaron Donald a guy for extremely disruptive. He's disruptive when
you have to have two men block you, or sometimes
three people block you, means you're causing a lot of trouble.
And another thing that we see with Derek Brown is

(10:04):
that he doesn't get pushed off the line of scrimmage.
He really holds his ground on the line of scrimmage,
which neat you need to do. And that allows your
linebackers now to free up, run over the top, get
to where they need to get to because you're doing
your job inside.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
So that was a.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Good, spectacular, defestive play by Derek Brown. I know we
could throw a lot of accolades and a lot of
superlatives his way, but he really is deserving of He's
that guy on our team that makes things happen.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
R Let's take a time out. Jordan Gross has had
it this way. When we come back, we'll talk with
the great Panther Jordan Gross. That's coming up next. Pathers
Win over the Rams thirty one, twenty eight.

Speaker 7 (10:41):
He's the Pents.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Postap show line from Bank of America, Citio.

Speaker 8 (10:46):
So to Read gives straight up the middle, touch down Touchdown, Carol.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Winup reaction and analysis to today's game with special guests,
Highlights and updates from around the league.

Speaker 8 (10:58):
Complete touchdown right side makes the catch touchstone.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
No to chimz Okey with the Panthers postgame show exclusively
on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
Panthers with the big win at home over the La
Rams improved a seven and six thirty one to twenty
eighth the final score. And it was Jordan grossweek as
the legend of the game. He joined us here and
now it was in town. Wudn't you get Friday? We're
here for practice.

Speaker 7 (11:27):
I got in Thursday night.

Speaker 9 (11:28):
Yeah, traveled on Thanksgiving, got to go to practice Friday
and watch the team and.

Speaker 6 (11:32):
Then come watch this majestic moment today.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Man, you could pick a game, what a game to
come to and you don't know and we were big,
double digit underdogs against the Rams coming into this one.
Was what was today like for you? Being being out there?
It's part of what was going on with all that.

Speaker 6 (11:47):
No, it was outstanding being back.

Speaker 9 (11:48):
You know, I've worked a number of Panther games doing
away radio, and an away game is nothing like a
home game, and just to come and see the fans
and be remembered and all that stuff was outstanding. But
the game I've been in sports, my whole life, and
he's just never learned the lesson of you never know right. So,
with as many issues as we had defensively and coming off,
I called the game Monday night and it was just

(12:08):
a tough game.

Speaker 6 (12:09):
Didn't play very well.

Speaker 9 (12:10):
I did not think that this was going to be
what happened today, you know, And to come and win
and play a smart game, some fourth down conversions, be
responsible with the ball is just fantastic.

Speaker 6 (12:20):
I mean, what a great night in Charlotte.

Speaker 5 (12:22):
Hey, let's start with the offensive line with you, because
you know, obviously a lot of guys coming and going,
and they helped support a rushing attack that had over
hundred and fifty yards today.

Speaker 9 (12:30):
Yeah, the O line has just been consistent for two years,
really anchored by Taylor Moten and his leadership on that
O line as the guy that's been here for forever.
But Austin Corbett, you know, I called the game in
Arizona when he went down with the injury. I thought
we're gonna lose him for the season, and then he's back.
It's a backup role. Now he's starting. You know, you
got Kerrhan in today at right guard, and just a
tribute to that o line room, their commitment to to

(12:52):
knowing the schemes and trusting each other, and so far
we can go with what it was at ten different combinations.
This season of line starting lineups and still to be
productive says a lot about the coaching and the players.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Can you talk to the fans and tell them how
important it is for the quarterbacks and the office of
line of being sing particularly how far the quarterback drops back,
because that is really important.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
That determines how far or how long that you go
and keep your block.

Speaker 9 (13:16):
Yeah, the depth of pocket based off the route concepts.
So if it's a three step drop or a quick
ball out, those linemen are going to jump and try
to keep that pocket as close to the line of
scrimmage as possible, so Bryce can either take no drop
out of gun or three from under center and have
room to throw. If it's a longer developing concept like
that fourth and two play, we hit team act for
the touchdown, a little play action there, he's going to

(13:37):
be setting up deeper, so the lineman got to know that.
So there's so much coordination involved in that. When it
comes all together and you score touchdowns and you win
big games, it's just beautiful to watch.

Speaker 5 (13:47):
And I've seen Bryce, you know, engineer some big fourth
quarter wins this season. What have you seen in his improvement,
especially since last year when he had that stage where
he was kind of get fenched, and ever since that
he's been continuing to progress.

Speaker 6 (13:58):
I tell you that Atlanta game two weeks go.

Speaker 9 (14:00):
I've always known he was a tough player, but to
see him just get back up from that ankle get
and just rolled again and again, and Eugene, you.

Speaker 6 (14:06):
Know how that feels.

Speaker 9 (14:07):
Man, It's a scary thing to not have that base
underneath you. For him to come and set the franchise
record for passing yards in the game, then have a
honestly just a frustrating game Monday night and national audience
and know that that's one that kind of got away
from us. To then come back and in the rain
and play sharp and clean like he did today and
execute another game winning drive as you know they hit

(14:29):
that young man impresses me.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
How does it feel to know that the Panthers are
in the national conversation?

Speaker 4 (14:34):
I mean, everything used to be Tampa.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
Bay and how good they are, and then and we're like,
I have the thought, but that's not the case.

Speaker 9 (14:41):
This season, Tampa Bay is good Allan Baker Mayfield is
doing a great job. But one thing that I like
to remember is we got their offensive coordinator as our
head coach, so we took our quarterbacks quarterbacks coach as well.

Speaker 6 (14:53):
So they are good, and but so are we.

Speaker 9 (14:56):
And so to now have finally the buye it's been
forever and these guys had a week to kind of decompress,
so now have to buy and then have some incredibly
meaningful conference games excuse me, division games going into the
final month. What else could you ask for it? And
you want to play good teams, you want to beat
good teams, and that opportunity is there.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
There's a possibility that the way the team's talking that
they want to get your opinion on this, Robert Hunt
could return at some point after this by week and
that torn biceps? What is that like for an athlete?

Speaker 6 (15:21):
Bash again?

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Would would you have expected that? And then what a
boost that could be down the stretch run.

Speaker 9 (15:26):
You know a million years ago, ir was ir and
you were out and it was done with.

Speaker 6 (15:30):
And now they're just gotten so much smarter with.

Speaker 9 (15:32):
How they're allowing players to not take a roster spot
and then be able to get back into it. Robert
Hunt breeds so much energy, juice, mojo, whatever you want
to call it, into this team. I saw him on
the sideline today and he's he worked up an appetite
over there, just cheering and trying to pump.

Speaker 6 (15:46):
These guys on.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
If he could come back, even.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
If it was a backup role initially or whatever.

Speaker 6 (15:50):
If and when we get into.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
The playoffs, huge boost.

Speaker 6 (15:53):
I mean, you can't overstate how important that would be.

Speaker 5 (15:56):
You want, some Panther teams and obviously were very successful,
ran the ball on defense with forest turnovers. How similar
does this team look to some of the winning teams
you're on.

Speaker 9 (16:05):
You know, it's still like who are we? That's the
thing that you want to know. Last week was just
a tough game. We lost to the Saints. We can
point to some losses that were maybe a bit of
a letdown this year, and then there's huge wins today
at Green Bay. I mean, you guys know, you talk
about it every week. We got to get through the
by come back healthy. Now our defense will be back,
you know, Morig will be back. Can we win the

(16:28):
majority of the majority of our remaining four games and
then we'll say, Okay, now we're going into the playoffs
with some momentum. I don't want to compare this team
to any other team I've been on, because it's just
it's this team, and so let's focus on what we're doing.

Speaker 6 (16:40):
But I'm thinking more like characteristics though.

Speaker 9 (16:42):
Yeah, I mean, we've got a powerful running game, two backs,
which is outstanding because you can survive an injury if
you have one.

Speaker 6 (16:48):
There knock on wood, right, you chained got a knock
on wood. The O line is solid.

Speaker 9 (16:52):
If we could get more health back on that O line,
and Bryce was showing that hugely responsible. He's a responsible
quarterback for us. Yeah, I mean, we'll see where we go.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
And they just could be getting better. The Falcons just
walked to the New York Jets twenty four at a
field goal at the very end. So Bucks do win,
but hey, anytime the Falcons lose, Yeah, who cares?

Speaker 4 (17:15):
Is there a different Uh? We got two out standing backs.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
Is there a difference the way the lineman would bok
for each back knowing what they like don't like?

Speaker 4 (17:24):
Or was it just this is what you do? If
you got his old stress play, you're gonna be marching
to his own left to right.

Speaker 6 (17:29):
I never felt that way in the run game.

Speaker 9 (17:31):
I mean you blocked the scheme and the backs jobs
to hit the hole and find space. Now he might
hit it with a different tempo or a different pace,
but we can't adjust for that.

Speaker 6 (17:39):
Where you do.

Speaker 9 (17:39):
Feel different is guys pass blocked differently, so running backs chips,
you know, helping in pass pro D'Angelo Williams was a headhunter.
I always had to tell him, Man, you got to
chill out. You're chipping these guys so hard. You're throwing
them off their course into the quarterback. You know, Jonathan
Stewart would kind of more get in there, not that
he didn't want to hit, but he knew just kind
of body presence is better in the past game is

(18:00):
where I always felt like that was a different relationship
with each running back.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
All right, Well, Jordan's been fun to visit, whether it's
doing color podcast, having you on programs like, there's always
fun to visit with you, and you pick the best
game of the year to come to.

Speaker 9 (18:12):
I haven't had some covered seating, man, I'm not smelling.
Great to see you guys too, Man, it feels like
family being up here with you.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Dan gross everybody for the Cats.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
Hall of the House will take a break. More to
come next on the Carolina.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
Panthers Radio Network, and we are back as the post
game show. The fifth Quarter Show continues to us forth Lounge,
and you know that's right. That's the voice of Eugene
Robinson along with Mike Pachico, Jim's OK with you, Kristen Balbonie,
our all star sideline reporter today braving all the elements,

(18:50):
wave after wave up unpredicted rainstorms.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
Out there today.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
I know that could not have been great on a
chili day.

Speaker 10 (18:56):
I still got my handwarmers. Okay, we had the warm
jacket on.

Speaker 11 (18:59):
I did not the rain jacket, So I've got I
had like a wool jacket on. So I apologize if
I smell like a wet dog up here. But was
anybody else outside? Just yes, all right, you guys. Don't
I have talk.

Speaker 1 (19:09):
Anybody here of the game today?

Speaker 10 (19:10):
And you know, some people sit inside, some people sit inside.
It's like what it was all worth that? We didn't care,
did we? Because what a game?

Speaker 4 (19:18):
That's right? Yes, that was fun.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
I mean that was that's like one of those all
time memorable games.

Speaker 11 (19:25):
Well and because it was close and exciting the whole time.

Speaker 10 (19:28):
They stayed in it.

Speaker 11 (19:29):
They were at the you know, in the lead for
a good portion of it, and there was just never
a dull moment in that game.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
Can you talk about the defense and particularly in the
first half, that first quarter, what it was the energy
like defensively warm, particularly after that interception for the testdown.

Speaker 11 (19:44):
Oh that was great, you know, right Jackson and he
had had some some missed opportunities in some earlier games
than he had that big interception last week against the
forty nine ers, and it felt like he was finding
his stride. He wanted that pick six, you know, he
had the opportunity in week three against Atlanta, ran it
back for fifty yards, but then kind of ended up
going backwards doing the weird dance.

Speaker 10 (20:02):
And so he got this one.

Speaker 11 (20:03):
They were so excited, and you know what, I think
it made it all the sweeter because there were none
of those guys that are the big names. There was
no JC Horn, there was no Trayvon Merrit. So these
are young guys that are doing it. And of course
you're guys like Mike Jackson, you're Derek Brown's, but especially
in that secondary, there were a lot of guys that
needed to step up, young guys, some new guys, and
they did.

Speaker 10 (20:23):
It, and so it made it It made it that
much sweeter.

Speaker 11 (20:26):
But I will say, outside of you know, Leathan Ransom said,
one of the best things about this team is that
they never get too high.

Speaker 10 (20:31):
They never get too low. Eugenie, you'd be proud of that.

Speaker 11 (20:33):
They certainly celebrated when the moment was right, but it
was back to work.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
You know.

Speaker 11 (20:37):
Derek Brown, he had that strip sack, he was immediately
back in front of the Microsoft surface looking at his place.

Speaker 5 (20:45):
Let's go offense here, because the stars were on the
field for the offense.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
Yes, they ray big plays and.

Speaker 5 (20:51):
We continue to see the progress that Bryce Young is
making behind center, Mike.

Speaker 10 (20:55):
How about those those fourth down touchdowns?

Speaker 11 (20:57):
Yea, as we said, yeah, as you guys said, nobody
goes we're more on fourth down than the Panthers to
have the confidence to do that in terms of play calling,
knowing that your quarterback.

Speaker 10 (21:07):
Is going to come in and execute. And then how
about Jalen Cocher. Guys, what a game that.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
He's had and those are two his best passes.

Speaker 5 (21:14):
Bryce Young's were on those fourth down plays. Yes, and Cocher,
I mean right in the bread basket for Cocher.

Speaker 11 (21:18):
Yes, And we saw Coker just just battle through some stuff,
fight through some stuff, and you know, it's great to
see those young guys. He had a big game a
few weeks ago as well. But it's great to see
those young guys have signature games this season. We saw
that last uh last year as well with Xavier Lagett
and Jalen Coker. But it is so neat to see
those guys. You know, it's like they each get they
each get a game, they each get a moment they
really stand out and talk about the confidence that that

(21:40):
builds for these young receivers.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
Is that is that due to what we see what
coach Kanalis and is his relationship with the players and
young players, because that you got to buy in to
believe what he's doing is correct and what's right.

Speaker 11 (21:53):
I think so, Eugene and I heard you guys say it.
We started the show, and then the guys at the
end of the game, they play hard. For Dave Knalis,
they played hard at the end of last season as well,
when there was not a lot on the line, they
battled back. They played hard at the end of the
Arizona Cardinals game when it looked impossible for them to
be able to battle back. There's something about that. They
never feel out of it. They never give up. And

(22:14):
I think you're right, whether it's the young guys being
asked to step up, the veterans, they they play hard
for each other and they play hard for this coaching staff.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
When the team got that last takeaway, they get the
celebration publicly on the bench. Since there was already a
flag thrown. Did you consider running under the field already done?

Speaker 10 (22:32):
What could be the harm you?

Speaker 5 (22:34):
Why not?

Speaker 2 (22:36):
Why? No?

Speaker 11 (22:37):
I never want to be the story. I don't want
to get hit with the I don't want to be
near it. I don't want the ref looking at me sideways.
But it would have been a good time.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
To do it, right, Yeah, because at that point the
damage is done there, he got the flag and the penalty.

Speaker 10 (22:48):
Is trying to dry off. That's all I was doing,
is trying to create a little movement. Okay.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
Was the energy just unbelievable? They got that last takeaway.

Speaker 11 (22:55):
It was really great. Like I said, they don't get
too high, they don't get too low. Derek Brown was
already back looking at place, but then you have Bobby
Brown in his face going Derek Brown, Derek Brown, you know,
and that was really where it felt like they could
just kind of breathe for a second.

Speaker 10 (23:09):
It was still not over. The offense still had to
get that big first down there at.

Speaker 11 (23:12):
The end, but it just felt like, Okay, we can
see the bigger picture a little bit right here.

Speaker 10 (23:17):
We can see what that play led to.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
And I thought that coach Jerro got a little bit
more aggressive by blitsing.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
A little bit more down towards the end.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
Yes, because you can't let Stafford sit back there because
he could help take part.

Speaker 11 (23:30):
Indeed, and Navarro said earlier this week, you know, he
spent five years with the Rams. He said, Sean McVay
knows defense as well as any coach that I've ever
been around. He knows what you're gonna do, and he's
gonna try to beat you with it. And of course,
Matthew Stafford's seventeen year vet.

Speaker 10 (23:43):
So to watch what Avaro in this defense did against
this team.

Speaker 11 (23:46):
You know, Matthew Stafford two interceptions all season long until
he came here, two interceptions in this game. So it
was just it was just really really neat to see, guys,
and I want to say this, the fans sounded great
in the weather, in the rain, you guys sounded awesome.
And there were times where you know, this defense, you're
talking about this defense calling for the fans to get
loud on on third down, to get loud there at

(24:08):
the end of the game, and they Yeah, we heard
the key pounding, chance, we heard the chew but chance.
I mean it was really greats I mean, you would
not have thought the weather was as bad as it
was because the home fans showed out for the team.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Great atmosphere. As a partying gift, we have a heated
blanket as a.

Speaker 7 (24:23):
Job Thank you.

Speaker 10 (24:24):
That's how did you know? That's what I want?

Speaker 2 (24:26):
You have toply turtle X.

Speaker 6 (24:27):
Yeah, new shoes.

Speaker 10 (24:28):
My job is so tough. Guys, have a really tough
job out there.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
Was great. It feels a lot better with Turtles winning. Alright,
you guys, sm Balbonie, We appreciate you. We will take
a time out coming back. We got more to get to.
We'll listen back to some of the highlights from the
game and so much more as we continue. As the
Panthers win thirty one twenty eight of the rams of
the Carolina Panthers. Uh favorite station you listen to on

(24:53):
the radio.

Speaker 1 (24:55):
Back to the Panthers postgame show line from Bank of
America City, exclusively on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Panthers upset the downs thirty one to twenty eight. Keith
Pounding is what we're saying to everybody. Some of them
wear rings and they cut into your fingers.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
Would you do it?

Speaker 2 (25:15):
There's a lot of fans in here right now, a
lot of commotion going oar. We gotta let them stay
later today. Let's not shut the doors on them today. Yes,
let's listen back to three of the highlights, the two
fourth down touchdown conversions and the last takeaway as well.
Go back to the third quarter and it's fourth down
and two and they load up and go thirty three
yards instead to Jalen Coker for a touchdown for Carolina.

Speaker 8 (25:39):
It's fourth to three from the LA thirty three young
He's in the gun ubboard.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
The up back trips left.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
Here's the snap. Rice Bros Down the right sideline, HiT's
Cocker and strade Head.

Speaker 7 (25:49):
He drags an a.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
Fender into the end zone. Touchdown Carolina. Jalen Coker from Chryce.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
Young, so Panthers take the lead, but they would give
back lead Kyrin Williams of a seven yard touchdown run
in the fourth quarter, It's Carolina down again by a
score and once again go for it. Here on fourth
down and three, it's this time a forty four yard
touchdown pass to ted Roy McMillan, his only catch of
the day, goes for a touchdown.

Speaker 8 (26:18):
Nobody in the NFL has more fourth down conversions than
the Patterers. In four to two from the LA forty three,
Ramps crowded the lineup scrimage with a one high safety
look rice off play action as time in the pocket
proves downfield.

Speaker 4 (26:32):
For McMillan, it's the cut of the twenty.

Speaker 7 (26:34):
He's got the ten the.

Speaker 5 (26:35):
Fun touchdown, tay bad touchdown, Carolina have the.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
Panthers take the lead and put six thirty four to.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
Go, and they've got the lead, but could they hold
the lead would be the question, and this is basically
where they put it away. It's Derek Brown gets the sack,
forces the fumble picked up by DJ Wandham to snuff
out the last opportunity on offense for the Rams.

Speaker 8 (27:03):
Third down to nine through thirty four on the game
plot Stafford shotgun, snap, poor man rush, they're bringing pressure.
Every girl stripped the ball now by Carolina.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
Dj Watum recunns the bubble, takes.

Speaker 7 (27:18):
It to McField.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
There's Derek Brown making the play it again. Panthers would
then close it out on offense, kneel it out and
win thirty one to twenty eight. That last play the whataburger?
What a moment of the game. Thrilling, delicious food for
seventy five years. What a burger, just the way.

Speaker 7 (27:36):
You like it.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
And guys, it took all that took offensive, took defense,
It took great takeaways. It took fourth down conversions that
went for long touchdowns. It took all that to beat
the Rams today.

Speaker 3 (27:47):
One thing I like about what Coast Canalis did. Don't
forget last week there was only nine running plays. This
week there was what thirty five running plays. That is
a balance attack given what we've seen with the passing
attack too, So that's what you want. You want the
balance and sometimes when they load up the box and
they stop you running, you want to be able to
pass the ball. So we were able to do both

(28:07):
today and I thought that one of the keys was
is that. I thought Bryce Sham was going to have
to outplay Stafford, and I thought that the offense was
going to have to control the clock and really eat
it some time and keep that vaulted offense off the field.
And they weren't able to do that. They did a
good job with that, not only defensively, but they did
a great job of managing the clock and so halfs

(28:29):
off the coach Canalison group.

Speaker 5 (28:30):
Right, Stafford had that streak, was it nine games? Well,
h throwing a pick and right he throws two of
this one and then this strap stripstrack.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
Fumble late see, but you know, I'd like to qualify
this he didn't throw a pick. Those were great plays Defensively,
Derek Brown gets in there tip, you know, and he
tips the ball right. So now every all best of
off wherever the ball was going, all bestl off is
up for free fall.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
We get it right.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
And then I loved the position that Jackson was in.
He was an inside technique. He has been a man
and they're running out with Nicole with Nicole and he
jumps that inside takes that ball, so you would think
that he's throwing an interception. That's a great play, great
leverage by the defensive back. And so you know, sometimes

(29:16):
we throw interception is like you overthrew the ball and
it goes to.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
A guy that's throwing inception.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
Those interceptions were earned defensively, no doubt about it.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
So hass off the deep brown, hass off the jack.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Hats off to all the guys defensively who are able
to put pressure and get in the face of Matthew Stafford.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
All right, all ends up to a big way Carolina.

Speaker 4 (29:36):
Thirty one twenty eight.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
We see all you. We're going to take a time
out here still to cameo here from Coach Canal. So
we hear from some of the Panther players from Luke
and Jake and Anisa up in the booth. Mike's gotting
on a scoreboard update coming up. Thirty one twenty eight.
Panthers knock off the Rams on the Carolina Panthers Radio network,
and we're back now here, we are back, and we're
back here.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
We're back.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Fifth quarter continues from the North Lounge. Party continues as
the Panthers win thirty one twenty eight. We're gonna hear
from Coach Dave Canals coming up in just a couple
of seconds here and find out what he had to
say to the guys up in the booth. First of all,
I'll tell you that Belk is a proud partner of
the Carolina Panthers in your hometown, Favored in the fashion
game since eighteen eighty eight, and you can shop the

(30:19):
Friends and Family sale now at belkrop to sixty percent off.
Rarely dis kind of brands like Brooks Brothers, Vineyard Vines,
and Nike all at Belk in the game since eighteen
eighty eight. Bet he's in a good mood. I bet
he's having a great day.

Speaker 4 (30:32):
Hear from him right now.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
Here's the head coach, Dave Canalis.

Speaker 8 (30:35):
We're joined by Panthers head coach Dave Canalis. Dave, we
just had Chewba Hubbard on before short week. You got
the best team in the NFL coming to your hometown.
When you kind of look back, the instant reaction, what
did this team show you in getting it done today?

Speaker 12 (30:54):
Our pursuit is to find our best football And there
were moments the first all just talk about the Rams
and this team and the way that they were able
to make plays in different ways, and the challenge for
our group was like we've seen their best. Can we
find ours? And we have to continue to pursue that
on a weekly basis and show the consistency that it's

(31:15):
going to take to be the team that we want
to be. But I saw our guys respond to the challenge,
respond to a short week, be really focused on a
modified week where we weren't able to get out there
and really practice until Friday with any speed, you know,
And the guys were focused and locked in on the
plan and it took all that communication to get it done.

Speaker 7 (31:35):
Yeah, coach is Jake, congratulations on the win. Huge win.

Speaker 13 (31:38):
And I can't tip my hat off enough to you,
because what's it like playing on a Monday night but
across the coast right to come back and the lack
of rest and reps that you guys have to be ready.

Speaker 7 (31:50):
But I want to hit on at Chuba Hubbard.

Speaker 13 (31:52):
I think someone I have so much respect for him
the way he's always handled himself on and off the field,
but also what he had to go through this year,
and I think he was battling injuries that maybe we
weren't quite we didn't know exactly how bad they were,
but just to watch him and to come back look
like the same He looked like last year's too, But
the way he ran the ball today, what have you
seen from him? Just both on and off the field,
Because it's not just on the field, it's what he's

(32:15):
done when Rico was having all the success.

Speaker 12 (32:17):
He's a great leader and he models what we're looking
for in terms of just working and control the controllables,
control what's right in front of you, whether that was
attacking his rehab in his return to play and getting
himself healthy, applying himself to the game plan and not
really worrying about the things that he couldn't control in
terms of who I was trying to get the ball

(32:37):
to and all that, but to make the most of
his opportunities. And what we saw today was a guy
who just wanted it. He wanted it more than anybody
in the stadium. And you could tell that. You could
feel that on every run and it was he was
getting hit at two or three yards and ending up
with seven and eight, you know, And he just models
that part of it and really just you know, inspires
the rest of the group to give everything they have.

Speaker 14 (33:00):
Yeah, Coach Luke here, congratulations, obviously a great win, but
I just I like watching guys like Jalen Cokers obviously
start the season banged up, came back. I feel like
he's really grown into a guy that Bryce and you
guys as an offensive staff trush. He's kind of talk
about calling his number on the fourth downand and.

Speaker 7 (33:16):
There at the end of the game.

Speaker 12 (33:17):
A great design by Brad Iazac. He was looking for
a good one on one opportunity and we knew we
had a size advantage outside on these guys really really
good corner sticky corners, but just a little bit smaller
and built it for this type of situation. It was
a third or fourth and shorter where we can get
them in single high and ticket take advantage of a matchup.
And Jalen has really played like solid football regardless of

(33:40):
the amount of targets in the ball going his direction
over the past month, and we've been trying to find
a way to get him involved in what we're doing,
and today just showed up in a big way.

Speaker 13 (33:48):
Hey, coach, one more, what does the buye week look
for you? Being it's so late, I don't know what
it's like to have a bye week in December. Have
you ever been involved in someone this late and what
does it look like on a team like this where
we're battling so many injuries.

Speaker 12 (34:02):
Absolutely, it's huge for us physically first and foremost at
this point where we've had to really, you know, modify
some things that we've been doing late in the season
during our practices and make sure we cash in like
on a full, really hard day. But you can't really
just go out there and practice three days in a
row at this point when you don't have that break.
You know, there's no Thursday game, there's no regular bye week,

(34:24):
and so now you know, for us, it's about regrouping
and at this point, you know, diving into some of
our self scout. But right now we know who we are,
we know what we're running, we know what to do,
but we just got to make sure we get our mind, body,
and soul right, you know, for the finish of this
thing that's looking right at us.

Speaker 8 (34:39):
Dave, I want to end with fourth down fifteen of
nineteen on fourth down in the seven wins, it's been
such a big part of your offense when you get
across midfield. Can you speak to oh the fourth down
calls today where you decide to throw the ball downfield
and we saw McMillan and Cocher and Bryce make these

(34:59):
fantastic plays.

Speaker 6 (35:00):
Absolutely.

Speaker 12 (35:01):
It starts with the run game so that you can
get a favorable fourth down to actually decide to do it.
And then there's factors that go into it. You know,
who are we playing. We're playing the Rams. This is
an unbelievable offense. If we put them out there, can
we still a series?

Speaker 7 (35:13):
You know?

Speaker 12 (35:13):
And that was the intent. You know, if we can
get into these situations and take one more shot and
just keep them on the sideline longer, you know, then
it works out. And of course we came out with
touchdowns on it, so they were back out there pretty quick.
But but just cashing in on that. But it really
started up front with our with our big boys, the
running backs, running hard, getting us into those situations, running
it a little bit on third down so we could

(35:34):
make those yards and take those shots.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
Dave, thank you.

Speaker 8 (35:37):
Enjoy this one and enjoy the bye week as well.

Speaker 6 (35:40):
All right, thanks guys.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
I love how coaches they're all like this. When things
are going great, it's low. It's kind of like, hey,
keep perspective, and when things are going portan come on line,
here we go is it's always the exact opposite of
how you expect. That's what coaches do to keep a
balance with their team.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
You know, and hit it another word what I heard
him saying it. He said it was still a series,
you know, to keep that team that good offense off
the field. But not only was he able to steal
a series, he was able to steal some points. I mean,
it's different when you steal a series and control the clock,
but when you add a touchdown to that or three
points to that, you really done a really disservice to

(36:19):
the other team. You're like, oh, you know, you're smashing
you know, fruit in their face or something like that.

Speaker 4 (36:24):
So that was a really good job.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
And I thought the fact that we were able to
control the clock and then get points that was huge,
absolutely huge.

Speaker 5 (36:32):
And I think it's also and you get attest to this, Eugene.
You know, when you have new coaching staff come in,
they have their own tenants and things they want to
talk about. Eventually, you have to win for it to
really sink in, and you have to buy in, but
then you have to win to make it sink in.
That's what I was asking Jordan Bonie No Christen bell Bonie.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
Yeah, I was asking her that because it seems to
me the young guys have bought in to Coach Canalis
is selling and the fact that you know, he was
talking about balance offense and what does that look like
running the ball, passing the ball well, I thought the
last week's game was a referendum on Coacht Canalis, and

(37:13):
more so than Bryce Young because you have to call
a game. We were only nine runs. He flipped the
switch on that today. I mean, we ran the ball
heavily and we were able to pass the ball. So
he took a page out of his own book, evaluate
his own self and really struck a balance game today
that paid some dividends keeping the clock controlled but also

(37:33):
putting points on the board, and his defense came up
big time.

Speaker 6 (37:36):
I bet he remembers it.

Speaker 7 (37:38):
Absolute.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (37:41):
I've always thought that this team is a running team.
Over the history, this team has always been a running,
running team. And whenever you can run the ball well,
you can pass.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
The ball well. And we're able to do that today.
We're running a defense team. Defense football today, my Goodness's
why I'm thinking, just with the personnel they were handed
to for this one year, today got a couple more segments,
two more to go. After this, we'll still hear from
Chuba Hubbard, and we'll hear from the guys in the booth.
We'll be picking our hardest working player of the game.

(38:10):
And remember this Panthers season, stay ice Cold was Zippy
Ice based right here in Charlotte, the ice provider at
Bank of America Stadium, keeping your drinks and the Panthers
cool all game long. Zippy Ice keeping Carolina cool, one
game at a time. Panthers win today over the La
Rams thirty one, twenty eight.

Speaker 1 (38:26):
Back to Chim Sook live from Bank of America CITIU
with the Panthers postgame show exclusively on the Carolina Panthers
Radio Network.

Speaker 2 (38:37):
Along with Eugene Robinson, Mike Pachico, Jimzoki with you here,
and we've got two more segments to go. Let's go
ahead and hear from one of the guys who had
a big game for the offense, including a touchdown today,
Cuba Hubbard.

Speaker 8 (38:49):
Seventeen carries eighty three yards for Cuba Hubbard and the
Panthers running back and he joins us. Now, Chuba, you
guys got off the plane a little after six am. Tuesday,
short week, best team in the NFL, certainly the best
team in the NFC coming short week.

Speaker 7 (39:07):
How'd you get it done?

Speaker 15 (39:09):
I mean, I think we just relied on our process,
got back to our style of football obviously, like you said,
a short week, the coaches took care of us and
made sure we were fresh, and we just played our
style of ball. Obviously, in my opinion, I don't think
we played our best yet. We still got to work
on that. It's coming. But just all phases. Everyone's flying
around doing their job and it was just a great,
great team win.

Speaker 8 (39:29):
We've seen you guys go up to Green Bay and win.
Now you beat the Rams. What does that say about
what this team can't accomplish over the final four games?

Speaker 15 (39:38):
Yeah, I mean when we play our style of ball,
I believe we can go to toe to toe with
anyone in this league. Obviously going in to the buy now,
we just got to finish strong. The fates in our hands,
so it's gonna keep doing what we're doing.

Speaker 7 (39:52):
True. But Jake Delome here one, congratulations. Two. I know
you're someone who tells the truth, and I'm ask you
a question. How hurt were both of your calves.

Speaker 15 (40:03):
And don't lie to me. Yeah, I mean to be honest.
I don't want to disclose, Okaying, all right, I had
kind of not just my calf, with my whole left legs,
some stuff going on there, and obviously I wanted to
come back. I wanted to help the team win. I
played through stuff throughout my career, so I just told myself, look,

(40:23):
no matter if you're thirty percent, twenty percent, whatever it is,
go out and play. And I felt that, you know,
I could do that. Obviously, I wasn't up to par,
wasn't doing what I need to do. It took me
a long time to get back healthy pretty much. Last
week was the first time I kind of felt back
to myself a little bit, and this week obviously a

(40:45):
little more so. It's been It's been some ups and
downs for sure.

Speaker 13 (40:50):
Man, i'ma be honest, but well, listen, you've handled it
like a pro, and just watching practice, it's like the
last week or two you look different and the explosion
was back, and I just know you're not one that's
ever gonna take a shortcut. But what's it like, what's
the relationship like between you and Rico? Because I don't
care any way, you slice it. You've been the guy
that got rewarded with the contract because of what you

(41:10):
are on the field and off the field, and that's
got to be difficult, right when you're not at your
best and you're watching someone who's playing well in your position.

Speaker 7 (41:17):
What's the relationship like through all this.

Speaker 15 (41:20):
Yeah, I mean the relationships still been great. I mean,
Rico's a baller. He deserves everything more that he's been doing.
He works hard, he's a one to one player and
also a great guy off the field. Yeah, things like
this are never easy. It's been probably one of the
hardest times of my life, to be honest, but I
put my faith in God always. I've been through moments

(41:41):
like this a lot in all honesty, but God's always
showing up at the right time. So I just gonna
keep being myself, keep being a positive thing for this team,
whether that's on the field or from the sideline, whatever
it is. I just want to help us win.

Speaker 6 (41:55):
Carolina deserves it.

Speaker 7 (41:57):
Yeah, true, But congratulations.

Speaker 14 (41:59):
Like Jake said, you feel like we got that burst,
that pop, that physicality that you've always played with, and
that's been great to see. Kind of just talk about
the confidence that coach Canalis has in that offense and
Bryce and you guys to go forward on fourth down
and it paid off in a big way today.

Speaker 6 (42:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (42:15):
I mean, we just we trust the coaches. The coaches
trust us. It's shown in games throughout this whole season
that you know, when the game's on the line, our
guys will show up and make the plays, and the
coaches will give us those opportunities. So I feel like
we're confident in those moments and the coaches believe that
will make it, make those plays. So it's almost just
like second nature at this point for them, especially Bryce.

(42:37):
He's like cool as it gets in those moments.

Speaker 7 (42:39):
So awesome. Congratulations Jolir, bye week.

Speaker 8 (42:42):
Appreciate it, Chu up, thank you, rest up, heel up,
and enjoy the well deserved week off.

Speaker 2 (42:47):
I appreciate you. Guys think don't want a bad way
typically this late in the season because you want that
reset button and kind of work on some things. But man, it, sir,
feels like it's come at the right time. As far
as getting some guys back.

Speaker 4 (42:59):
In two weeks you talk about getting Hunt back in
the mix.

Speaker 3 (43:02):
I'm telling you what to get a player like that,
that caliber player to come back and even if you
come back and you.

Speaker 4 (43:08):
Have a spotted role, that is huge.

Speaker 3 (43:11):
And so I like a bye week where you can
get guys healed up and guys can feel so too.

Speaker 4 (43:16):
But saying that, hey, I only felt great you know
last week, you know I.

Speaker 3 (43:20):
Felt a little bit more like myself. Well guess what,
after the buy, you go feel more for yourself. So
this is coming at the right time. And if you
went in November, went in December, you set up set
yourself up for the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (43:31):
Yeah, it's a great opportunity really out there in front
of them, and when you have the opportunity to kind
of get that rest. And now it's a four weeks
pension of the playoffs.

Speaker 6 (43:43):
Love to see it.

Speaker 2 (43:44):
And of course Trade by America comes back from suspension.
You've got length and ransom, getting a lot of great
raps and playing great ball to with that. If you
liked Isaiah Simmons is a guy that you could keep
around and let him develop over the next couple of weeks.
So a lot of things. Claude Shareer listens some of
other players to get healthy along the way too. So
we'll take a final time out here and then when

(44:04):
we come back we'll pick our hardest working player and
to also get the final thoughts from the guys up
in the booth, injury updates and brought to you by
a trim Health doing more to keep you moving, achieving
and is driving at every agent stage so you can
live fully. Panthers A Winner Today over the Rams thirty
one to twenty eight.

Speaker 1 (44:20):
The Panthers postgame show continues line from Bank of America Citio,
exclusively on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network.

Speaker 2 (44:32):
Panther's A Winner over the Rams thirty one to twenty
Agent's Jim and Mike and Eugene down here and the
moment will pick our hardest working player of the game.
Before we get out of here too, you want to
check in again with the Luke and Jake and Anish
and what they had to say about today's win over
the Rams.

Speaker 8 (44:47):
In the words of the immortal North Carolinian and Ricky Bobby,
did that just blow your mind because that just happened.
The pan depleted on defense playing after a short week.
Luke and I were on the team playing coming back

(45:08):
from San Francisco. I walked in the door at six
forty five am. Luke, I took my daughter to school
who had her bag packed. That's a tough turnaround. And
you got the Rams who have been steamrolling their competition,
winners of sixth straight, biggest point differential in the NFL.
And I thought the Panthers Luke played their best game

(45:29):
of the season today. They went toe to toe, they
had balance, they ran the ball, but they also made
the big plays through the air when they needed to.
This team's been up and down at times, but a
game like this tells you, hey, when it comes together,
they can play with anybody.

Speaker 14 (45:46):
Oh absolutely, And you know, like you we've been banged
up and we still went out here and played a
fantastic game. We ran the ball thirty five times between
Cuba en Rico Brice was fifteen to twenty for three
touchdowns and interceptions. We took care of the football. We
had got step up and I don't I don't know
what it is. I don't know what coach Canalis is
able to do. But we have these tough losses and

(46:07):
we come back the next week and it's like we
play our best game and like you said, a Niche,
we got home late on Tuesday morning.

Speaker 7 (46:13):
That was a tough loss.

Speaker 14 (46:14):
I don't I didn't see the lost coming against San Francisco.
They're able to come back in on Wednesday, put their
foot down and a lot of these young guys stepped
up and did a fantastic job. But I just think
it speaks to the resolve of this team, the resolve
of this coaching staff. I think I think coach Canals
had had a lot of pride, said hey, we're gonna
go for it on fourth down. I have tremendous pride

(46:34):
and you Bryson, It's not like we went with conservative
routes or through a deep ball to Jalen Cocher and
then the throwback pass to j T Sanders and Jay
kind of nailed it right here. Give a lot of
credit to Temac on that fourth down touchdown. The route
that he ran. He is by no means supposed to
catch that football. He's running that route to get other
people open, and he ended up being the last guy

(46:56):
went to that Bryce went to for the pass, And
I just think it's a lot of credit to this team.
That's who we are, that's who we are as a team,
and when we need big plays, our best players step
up and make them. Derek Brown had the big the
big sack fumble, Jalen Cooker's becoming one of the guys
that were leaning on and I felt like Cuba, we
saw the old Tuba that we used to seeing.

Speaker 13 (47:15):
Yeah, listen, I think the biggest thing when you look
at it, the time of possession, right thirty five minutes
to twenty four. Okay, So, and we had the advantage
in the three turn with they had three turnovers, we
had none. We ran the ball. Both guys ran the ball. Cuba,
he just had it today. You felt and you saw it.
I told Luke this right after the game. I didn't

(47:36):
talk about Ikey today, but I also didn't bring up
Jared versus much. I think Ikey played a fantastic football game.
And we'll know more when we can go back and
dive into the film. But just think of these young guys,
these receivers just making plays for us. T Mak one
attempt target all game long, that's it until that play,
and he makes it when it needs to happen. Bryce

(47:56):
was very effective today, I think, and listen, it's not
like we played perfect. I think we left points on
the field before the first into the first half, on
our two minute drive defense, our safeties there are two
leading tacklers. Usually that's not a good thing because the
team runs it on you. Well they did today, But
when we needed something to happen, who came through and
helped close the game. Derek Brown, our number one player.

(48:20):
He came through, He closed the game. He got the sack,
got the fumble, DJ want and picks it up. What
a great win. It's hard for me to put in
the words to try to explain the people. To play
on Monday night on the road, but not only on
the road, you're across the country to come back. This
team didn't practice at full speed this week. This was walkthroughs.

(48:40):
This was a mental week. But to come out and
play the way you did today to get this win. Now,
going into a buy with everything right in front of you, right,
Tampa just beat Arizona. Okay, so they're on top of us,
but you know what, we played them twice in the
last month of the season. We have every opportunity. It's
right in front of you and win. Is the last
time we have said that.

Speaker 8 (49:02):
It's been a few years. And for the Panthers, you're right,
it's all there. They're seven and six going into the
by a road game at New Orleans, which listen, that's
a non negotiable. That's a game you have to win.
You get to eight and six with Tampa, Seattle, Tampa. Yes,
it's the ghost of Christmas past. It's Baker, It's Sam,
It's Baker. You have to go through those three. But

(49:25):
you'll have a chance. And I think they've made believers
out of a lot of skeptics today. Yeah, it's been
a little bit of a Caro Wins type season, a
little bit of a roller coaster ride, it sure has.
But they find a way every time, just when you
think I'm not sure, they find a way to bounce back.
And what they did today awfully impressive, as big of

(49:47):
a win by any team we've seen in the NFL
this season. The Panthers take it to the hottest team
in the NFL. They beat the Rams, they get to
enjoy the bye week, they get to heal up, and
they get to attack the stretch run. Panthers have two
more games on this field, and if all goes well,
possibly more than that.

Speaker 6 (50:09):
It's the flume, it's the log ride.

Speaker 2 (50:11):
There you go, man, So the Panthers win. Hey, it
has it's been up It's I said this week.

Speaker 4 (50:22):
Week.

Speaker 2 (50:24):
It's our turn.

Speaker 7 (50:25):
It's our turn.

Speaker 2 (50:27):
It's always the exact opposite of what you think is gonna.

Speaker 4 (50:29):
Is our turn to win. I'm taking that now.

Speaker 2 (50:33):
Now, what is the hardest working player of the game?
Brought to you by sun Belt Reynolds, the official Windal
Equipment partner of the Carolina Panthers. We only have fifty
three qualified choices here.

Speaker 7 (50:42):
Which one?

Speaker 2 (50:42):
Which one do we like?

Speaker 4 (50:44):
I think, yeah, I gotta go with dB. I thought Ransom.
I'm going with dB.

Speaker 3 (50:49):
dB has two consequential plays, but what he does on
that interior defensive line, it goes unnoticing.

Speaker 4 (50:55):
You don't realize that guys are making tackle because he's
hold enough two to three guys.

Speaker 2 (50:58):
You don't win the game without Derek.

Speaker 4 (51:00):
No, no, no, no.

Speaker 2 (51:01):
Ransom gets an honorable mention.

Speaker 4 (51:03):
Ransom, you honorable mention.

Speaker 2 (51:05):
Good job, Thank our cruise. Shall we Harold Hammrick Him,

there twice. I'm just reading it as it's written Byron Pumpman,

Speaker 7 (52:01):
