Speaker 1 (00:03):
You know, to Brett McMillan with the Panthers postgame show
preseming by Southern Star unofficial bourbon of the Carolina Panthers
celebrate the spirit of the Carolinas.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
How about that for the first time in twenty one games,
the Panthers get the ball to start the game and
go down the field and score a touchdown and that
was just a sign of good things to come. Panthers
gonna win over the Los Angeles Raiders thirty six to
twenty two, and Eugene Robinson of Mike Pachico, wasn't that close?

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Wow?

Speaker 4 (00:40):
Yeah, I mean it was.

Speaker 5 (00:42):
I think people expected maybe a little bit of a
lyft from having the quarterback change and have Andy Dalton
in there, but I don't think anybody anticipated that the
change was gonna be that significant. Be that significant, Yeah,
And you know it looked like a traditional when you know,
when the Panthers are playing, well, we've seen this in
years past, that complimentary football, The defense played great, time

(01:05):
of possession was in the Panthers favor. They had over
one hundred yards rushing, pretty methodical. But you know, it's
a quarterback league, and you know that there's a reason
why Andy Dalton was on the roster and he showed
that today.

Speaker 6 (01:18):
This was to me, this really was about Andy Dalton.
Andy Dalton played some spectacular football. There's no doubt about that.
The toeschdown he threw to Dante Johnson moving from the
left side all ways, You're right. You got to anticipate
to throw and you got to know what comforts it is,
because you don't want the corner to the backside corner
slooping off and getting an easy interception. He knew he

(01:40):
had covered zero, he knew he was going across the field,
and then he anticipated and threw the man open on
in the back of the angel on the other side
of the field. That was one of the best throws. Well,
I take it back. I think the best roll was
through the feeling that touchdown. The feeling I mean just
on a dime and on a rope, knowing that he
can split.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
The middle of the field. This is what I hope
Bryce is learning.

Speaker 6 (02:03):
Yeah, the patients and the anticipation you got to have
at the quarterback spot, knowing what the coverage is and
knowing where you can pick the ball in. Because both
passes were thrown open, the receiver was thrown open, not short,
not behind, none of that stuff. It was thrown open.
And I'll tell you what this just seems to meant.

(02:26):
Just the legend of Andy Dalton just seems to continue
to get better, knowing that if he get in the
game that you're going to get a spark. But we
had more than the spark. We had a team that
looked like it was a contender.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
It lifted the whole team. I mean, the offense looked
a lot better. And to your point, Mike and we
talked about this, and I expected the defense to play
better because the offense had not been holding the ball.
The offensive time of possession was very poor. The defense
was clearly wearing down over the course of all games.
You look at the time possession of today for the Panthers,
thirty six minutes and two seconds wow, fifty eight for

(03:01):
the Raiders. So that means obviously the defense had time
to come out fresh throughout the game. The third quarter.
The Raiders had three three and outs in the third quarter,
no first downs, twenty one yards total in the third quarter.
So that tells you how much of a benefit the
offense been able to move the ball to have the
ball was helping the defense with an approved performance by

(03:21):
the defense. My thought, and just from the very get go.
And maybe it's just the swagger of an and Andy Dalton,
the veteran presidence of an Andy Dalton. Maybe it's my imagination,
but the lines seemed to be blocking better, the running
game was more effective. But you said something right out
of the Boxygene that And I was trying to put

(03:42):
my finger on what was the difference today in having
Andy Dalton back there. And I wonder how much of
it is just the recognition of the NFL defenses that
helped make is that maybe one of the biggest differences
between what you have with Andy adult back there versus
a Bryce show.

Speaker 6 (04:02):
And absolutely right, because you saw the ball go short,
and you saw it go deep down the field, you
saw it it spread out across the field. You saw
it also go and distribute it from receiver to receiver
to receiver. I mean, we know that DJ Johnson he
got most of the flowers, but look, the ball was
being spread across the field and Andy was just absolutely

(04:23):
he looked spectacular, He looked brilliant throwing the route like
it was just some good football. And like I said,
I'm hoping Bryce is taking notes because there were so
many things that he did well, timing getting the ball
out quickly, free start, drop, recognizing the hot.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Route where the ball needs to go immediately.

Speaker 6 (04:44):
I mean he recognized, oh, I got to get the
ball out quickly right now, boom and it was gone.
And so from that standpoint, there's a lot I always
say there's an education process that happens when you get bench,
and it's all right that you can just learn on
the bench. And I thought that, hopefully Bryce that you're
learning because we saw a massive performance after quarterback position today.

(05:05):
Make no mistake about it, that three hundred plus yards
and three touchdowns. I don't think anybody did that this
week or this year.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
The first time that a quarterback has over three hundred
yards and three touchdowns this year. Yeah, but it takes
the pressure off the defense because the defense, this team
has been on its heels and you know, kind of
playing back if you will, that you know, a lot
of pressure was taken off the defense because the offense
was able to move the on in the second half
except for one pun and at the end of the game,

(05:34):
they scored in every possession.

Speaker 6 (05:35):
And to a point, is that yeah, man, the defense
gave him a lift. But can you imagine defensively, when
you're scoring that many points and you're like, hold on, wait.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
A minute, let's get the ball back.

Speaker 7 (05:45):
Let's get the ball.

Speaker 6 (05:46):
Back, Let's get the ball back. Jackson, Thompson, Robinson. There
was a lot of guys who had some really good
games out there, and Jackson, I thought had a really
special game. I thought he was really he seemed to
be everywhere on the field. And so from that standpoint,
I'm like, when your office is balling like that the defense, Now,
now you can take a break, but you excited to

(06:08):
get back out there to get the ball back for
you guys.

Speaker 5 (06:10):
And you wonder too, if you caught the Raiders at
a good time. I mean, they had the big emotional
win last week. They look at the Panthers or are
owing to the whole league was saying, this team's gonna,
you know, win maybe one or two games. So I
don't want to say they let off the gas a
little bit, but maybe mentally this was a good time
to catch them.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
You know what.

Speaker 6 (06:26):
I think this has a lot to do with man,
I know, Andy Dalton, I mean, this is the quarterback
driven league. And when your quarterback is smoky hot and
doing the things he needs to do at that quarterback position,
you know, delegating the rock, making those test stiles, now
setting them for free points, but getting testiles, it's huge.
Your confidence just goes through the roof. And I thought

(06:48):
Dave Canallis and the entire crew, I thought the Carolina
panthers Is confidence.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Was through the roof.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Mike, let me ask you, because it's just something that
struck me during the course of the game. And one
of the things we know about Bryce Young is he
is mobile. He's a guy that can get run. Andy
Dalton is not mobile.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Nope, not at all.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
It's a different mold.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
But how much does that help the offensive line that
the offensive line is trying to mold itself, knowing that
the guy that's back behind you that you're protecting is
not going to be moving around a lot of the pocket.

Speaker 5 (07:19):
I think the bigger I don't think it's that. I
think it's more of you have a quarterback who is
making reads, making progressions, getting the ball out and not
sitting on the ball. And yes, maybe to your point,
he does. Bryce tends to kind of move around a
little bit. But I think it's just the decision making
and the processing more so than being mobile.

Speaker 6 (07:37):
Yeah, I think that first, maybe the second passing through,
Bryce had an interception on that same route, Andy Dalton
threw over the top of the linebackers head underneath the
defensive back. The safety coming up hit the receiver right
in stride. I think that might have been too And
I'm sitting on Wow. Bryce had that same throw and

(07:58):
it was an interception.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
But think of that as a teaching tool right now, say,
I mean, I think it's a positive.

Speaker 6 (08:04):
And it was a positive too because it was right
over the top and it happened a lot sooner than
it happened for Bryce the previous week.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
It's all hot coming your way. Over the next hour,
we'll hear from head coach Dave Canalis and one of
the players from today's game as well. We'll get you
caught up and everything else going on through the league,
So stay with us. Here are the Carolina Panthers Radio
Network and welcome back to Back of America Stadium, where

(08:35):
we have the Panthers' postgame show presented by Southern Star
and official bourbon of the Carolina Panthers, celebrate the spirit
of the Carolinas like with the Gene Robinson by Pachico
Brett McMillan, Glad to have you with us, and the
Panthers pick up their first win of the season by
the count of thirty six to twenty two over the
Las Vegas Raiders.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Let's go ahead and get you caught up.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
But everything else that's going on around the National Football
League today, only what the game still being played at
this point before tonight's game. This driver around the league
brought to you by your hont the dealers of the Carolinas.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
So Mike.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
A lot of action so far today, and some of
it's been pretty interesting.

Speaker 5 (09:11):
Well, it looked like Dallas was about to get blown
out at home. They were down twenty eight to six,
but they've scored nineteen unanswered points Dallas. Actually Baltimore right
now has the ball at the two minute warning and
they're up by three, twenty eight to twenty five.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
They blew and they just picked them a first round two.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
By the way, and Baltimore blew a lead last week
against the Raiders, so they got to get a little skiddy.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
Little little antsy there, if you will. I think you're
just referring to another close game the Rams beating the
forty nine ers by three, twenty seven to twenty four.
That game just went final, so close one there for
the forty nine ers.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
That was a big rally for the Rams. Wasn't that
they rallied? They were pretty big too. Some of the
scores also from the four o'clock games. The Seattle Seahawks
improved to three, you know, twenty four to three winners
over Miami Detroit, big twenty to three win on the
roa that Arizona Jared Goff threw for one hundred and
ninety nine yards, two touchdowns and an interception. From some

(10:05):
of the games earlier today, Green Bay over Tennessee thirty
to fourteen. This is a good day for your former team.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Everybody winning. My goodness.

Speaker 5 (10:14):
Pittsburgh, how about Josh Fields today? I think he started
the game like ten of ten and Justin Herbert was
like nine of nine.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Yeah, Justin Fields started.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
Josh Field started, Yeah, yeah for Pittsburgh. So they go
on to win twenty to ten. He threw for two
hundred and forty five yards, had a rushing touchdown and
a passing touchdown as well. Denver over Tampa Bay twenty
six to seven, Bonnicks through for two hundred and sixteen yards.
Saquon Barkley had two touchdowns on the ground as Philadelphia
beats New Orlands.

Speaker 6 (10:41):
He made a run that was absolutely impressive. He's impressive.
He's a beat.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
You know.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
It's also playing like a beast this year.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
Is Sam Darnold seventeen of twenty eight today, only one
hundred and eighty one yards passing, but he threw for
four touchdowns as Minnesota downs Houston thirty four to seven.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
I could just see Sam dono.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
I told you ad was good.

Speaker 5 (11:04):
Indianapolis Beach Chicago twenty one sixteen. Giants got to win
over Cleveland today twenty one to fifteen over the Cleveland Browns.
And then the game's coming up tonight. Kansas City is
Atlanta for tonight and then tomorrow Jacksonville and Buffalo is
the early Monday night game at seven thirty. Washington is
at Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
And yeah, and the Cincinnati comes in here next week
on a short week.

Speaker 6 (11:27):
Yes, and I thought that Cincinnati last week's to beat
Kansas City. I thought that last play safety needs to
push the ball out Insteady's trying to intercept the ball
and got a DPI which extended and got the field about.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
It well, so, you know, and we talked about Dave
Canalis making making the change last week at quarterback. It's
saying that, you know, they felt like Andy Dalton gave
the Panthers the best opportunity to win. Well, now, all
of a sudden, you look what happened today. New Orleans,
which has been putting up points like crazy so far
this year, they get shut down by Philadelphia. Today, they
lose Tampa into and oh they get clobbered by Denver

(12:02):
at home. There now two and one and so three
games end of the season. All of a sudden, everybody
in the NFC South is within a game of each other.

Speaker 6 (12:11):
That's why I say you give the the second basement
of glove, because you've got to field the ball.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
You don't you never know what's going to happen. You
don't know.

Speaker 6 (12:18):
You got to give yourself some time and you know,
stack up the games next you know, you're contending for
a spot to be the number one in your division.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
Not that I'm thinking division title already. I don't want
to get ahead of ourselves.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Here, but we don't want to jink soon. Anyway, It's a.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
Feel good day there you go. All right. When we
come back, we will hear from the head coach still.
We'll also hear from Andy Dalton on his big day
as the starting quarterback of the Panthers. We also have
some highlights from today's ball game as well. You're listening
to Panthers Football presented by Morris Jenkins's postgame.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Show, presently by Southern Star, unofficial bourbon of the Carolina Panthers.

highlights and updates from around the league.

Speaker 9 (13:11):
Complete touchdown right side, next the catch, touchdown.

Speaker 7 (13:15):
Panthers Now what?

Speaker 2 (13:17):
How about it?

Speaker 1 (13:17):
Now what No bretf with the Panthers postgame show exclusively
on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
Panthers winning up the Raiders today thirty six twenty two.
Panthers get their first win of the year and I
tell you to feel good. Win. Andy Dalton huge day
at quarterback, three hundred and nineteen yards passing three touchdowns.
Panthers also at one hundred yard rusher, one hundred yard receiver,
big day all the way around, along with Gene Robinson,

(13:49):
Brett McMillan, I am, and Mike Pachico. We're all glad
to be here today and then too celebrating all of us.
Mendel's here, Myron's here. Oh, everybody, the whole gang is.
David's here. Hey, everybody's here. All right. This doesn't happen
very often. This is the last couple of years.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
Yes, this is an exciting day. I mean, this is good.
You know.

Speaker 6 (14:11):
I was happening to I happen to be at Clutch,
the sports part that's right right right from the stadium. Yeah,
and I was one of the I was there to
see to listen to the game and see what the fans.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
The fans were going crazy.

Speaker 6 (14:23):
They were going crazy the very first throw from Dalton.
Oh that's right, Okay, we got a quarter back. Yeah, yeah,
and people were going crazy when we scored a touchdown.
It was nuts in there, absolutely nuts in there.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
But let's talk about that opening drive because we talked
about at the top of the show. The Panthers had
not scored a touchdown on their opening drive since New
Year's Day twenty twenty three. Wow, that was twenty one
games ago, and today they did.

Speaker 8 (15:00):
Backing down and goal from the six ten twenty to
go first quarter opening drive for the Panthers. Dalton, changing
a play at the line, backs into the shotgun, hovered
off his right hip the snap, Raiders bring a twist
stream pass right side. Showba gets the block, has.

Speaker 7 (15:17):
The five AM tracks into the end zone.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Brock Carolina touchdown all right, just like that, Panthers up
seven to nothing. They stopped the Raiders under three and out,
but then the Panthers couldn't move the ball when they
got it back punted out of the three. The Raiders
got themselves a ninety seven yard touchdown drive, leading a
fifty four yard pass during that drive. But then the Panthers,
you know what, they bounced right back and put their

(15:43):
own drive together of ten plays seventy five yards and
it finished this way.

Speaker 8 (15:51):
Fyles Sanders is the running back trips to the left,
treble detached for the line to the right. Here's the
snap pressure off the backside. Talton floats one hand zone.
Deontae Johnson back right corner, hangs on touchdown.

Speaker 7 (16:09):
Carolina.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
Deontay Johnson eight catches one hundred and twenty two yards
today and at one touchdown, we're gonna make him our
hardest working player of the game. Presented by Sunbelt Rentals,
the official rental equipment partner of the Carolina Panthers. And
you talked about it earlier, Eugene, that was just a
gorgeous pass, perfectly placed, just kind of floated it right

(16:31):
into the basket.

Speaker 6 (16:31):
You heard, Anissa, it was the right corner of the
end zone. Well, Deontay Johnson started on the left hand
side of the quarterback and went all the way across
the field and Andy Dalton threw him open, and knowing
that the cornerback on the other side of the field
was in man and man coverage where he couldn't slop
off if he happened to be in zone. If he's
in zone, it's an interception all right.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Near the end of the half, the Panthers had the
ball at their own thirty three yard line, face a
third and n and the Panthers coming into today's game
had only converted two third downs all year long. Well,
they wiped that out early in the first half, and
this was a huge third down play.

Speaker 8 (17:12):
Third down nine to go, forty four seconds left in
the half. Panthers still have a time out with their
own thirty four yard line shotgun snap for man twist
on the slant wide open receiver.

Speaker 7 (17:24):
It's Johnson. He's got midfield, slips a tackle middle of
the field, forty thirty.

Speaker 9 (17:28):
Five to Vegas running to the left sideline, out of
bounds at the Las Vegas thirty one Deontey Johnson jazzing, dancing,
sig zagging, and he stops the clock with thirty three.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
Seconds and the Panthers in fact, went five of twelve
on third down conversions today. Next play was this one.

Speaker 7 (17:50):
Dalton in an empty set, trips to the right.

Speaker 8 (17:53):
Here's the snap, pocket holds and he throwing downfield.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
Damon did he hang on?

Speaker 7 (18:00):
Touchdown?

Speaker 2 (18:02):
Beautiful play by Adam Thieling in the end zone. Ended
up leaving the game right after that with a hamstring injury.
Don't know how serious it is, but I tell you,
just a gorgeous catching the ends.

Speaker 6 (18:11):
Absolutely, it was trips right to the right side, and
you got feeling running down in the middle of that
little seam route and you got to put that ball on.
You got to really place that ball down down the field.
And I thought Andy Dalton did a wonderful job because
he was actually covered well. The ball was just a
better pass allowed for not off of feeling, than die

(18:33):
and make that catch.

Speaker 5 (18:34):
And that's what happens when you have, you know, a
competent professional quarterback as a backup that's able to come
in and in tough moments. When was the last time
you might have to go back four or five years,
when was the last time you saw two big explosive
plays like that back to back that led to a touchdown.

Speaker 6 (18:50):
Exactly, And it just only speaks to you. We said
a backup quarterback, but he's a starter. He's always been
a starter. Andy Dalton's always been a starter. He's been
that guy. And look can put the opportunity and he
said this week that he's been praying for opportunity to
get back in there, and you saw what he was
able to do. I mean, I thought he played superb football,
no doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
All Right. At the half, it was the Panthers leading
this ball game. Seemed to be pretty good control of
a twenty one to seven, but the Raiders are going
to get the ball to start the second half. Panthers
hold him three and out. As a matter of fact,
the second half of this game really belonged to the
Panthers defense. They got a number of fourth down stops.

Speaker 7 (19:29):
Panthers crowding the line. Bitch you quarterback sneak if this
is the spot from the far side, I don't think
they got it the way.

Speaker 8 (19:37):
The Panthers would have it inside the Raider forty yard line.
This will depend on the spot.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
And the Panthers did hold. It was kind of a
the Raiders try a quick little flight there did it.
Jumped up to the guy up the line and went
for it, didn't get it, and the Panthers actually collected
the only turnover of the game.

Speaker 7 (19:56):
BITCHU takes the knee high snap out of the guy,
looks right, throw right it or accept it?

Speaker 8 (20:01):
Picked off Mike Jackson, he's got the thirty five found
up off this stown now runs backwards and he goes
down at the thirty seven yard line.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
And that was it for Minshu.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
I think came again came in after that.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
That was it. So there you go. So the Panthers
a lot of highlights today, a lot of positives both
sides of the ball. Special teams. You had the punt
that went down to the three yard line. Still working
on the kickoff situation. Had one kickoff that went short
of the twenty, which puts the ball at the forty
yard line, didn't hurt the Panthers in this instance. But
I think by and large, you know, three field goals

(20:36):
Freddy Pinero today.

Speaker 6 (20:37):
Well, what an accomplishment from a defensive standpoint when you
had when you retired the starting quarterback and bring in
the backup because you picked them off or because he
hasn't been able to move the ball effectively down the
field and you got to try something that is really
a feather in the cap of coach Jarrow.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
Well done, good job and they one.

Speaker 6 (20:59):
I thought the third down percentage they won it also
of getting off the field, and you're right, second half
it was a defense. It was all about that defense
and Jackson, in my opinion, once again plays some superb ball.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
Good coverage.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
Still ahead. We'll hear from Andy Dalton, also the head
coach Dave Kenalis. We'll get the final thoughts for the
guys in the booth in Las Vegas as well. Stay
with us on the Carolina Panthers Radio network. Hey, welcome back.
You might have heard the Panthers had a different starting
quarterback this week. Might have heard that's somewhere along the
line during the course of this week.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
That was in the news. Yes, the news.

Speaker 6 (21:35):
Yeah, that was the talk of the town all week long,
no matter where you went, watercooler talk. Bryce Stung is
now sitting down on a bitch and comes Andy Dalton.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
What is he going to do? Well, we saw it
today and it was spectacular.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Yeah, big game for Andy Dalton is the Panthers win.
At thirty six twenty two. His numbers were twenty six
of thirty seven, three hundred and nineteen yards, three touchdowns,
no interceptions, And if you keep track of such things
and if you can figure out what the heck it means,
this quarterback rating was one twenty three point six. Whatever
that means, whatever that means sounds good. Let's hear from

(22:09):
him here. Here are the guys up in the mooth
in Las Vegas, Jim Luke and a Niche.

Speaker 8 (22:15):
We are here with Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton. First off, congratulations,
great win, great team win. For you personally, what's the
significance of this win?

Speaker 10 (22:29):
Well, every time we go out there, we're trying to win.

Speaker 11 (22:33):
And for me, when I haven't been able to be
out there, you know it's hard because you're not affecting
the game. And so for me, I got to go
out there and just have fun. And I felt like
the way we started this game, our mindset coming into.

Speaker 10 (22:49):
It was exactly what we needed to have.

Speaker 11 (22:51):
And we started fast and we never took the foot
off the gas.

Speaker 8 (22:55):
Andy, from that opening drive and really for most of
the first half, what was it that the offense had
going for it?

Speaker 10 (23:03):
Well, I thought we could be balanced.

Speaker 11 (23:05):
We were running the ball, we were staying you know,
in normal situations. You know, we we were able to
you know, have the run game working, and then we
were able to do some stuff within the past game
and open some things up.

Speaker 10 (23:19):
We were able to stay balanced with it. And I mean,
it's unbelievable.

Speaker 11 (23:22):
I felt like our guys came and responded to our
week of practice. We felt like we played had had
a great week, and for us to come out with
his energy and to just maintain it the whole game
was it was great.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
Andy Luke here.

Speaker 10 (23:37):
First of all, your hair looked fantastic. They think that's
most important thing.

Speaker 11 (23:42):
That's the first thing that I want to make sure
is happening.

Speaker 12 (23:45):
Second of all, everything on the field was awesome. But
now listening talking to you, right now we can hear
all the music in the background of the locker room.
Just talk about how fun that is to go on
the road in an environment like this, get a win,
go in the locker room. Music's bumping every but he's
having a great time.

Speaker 10 (24:01):
That's why you put in the work, you know, that's
why you do this.

Speaker 11 (24:03):
You you you playing games like this and when you
put a team game together. This wasn't one side of
the ball. This was everybody, and so we put the
we put a whole team game together, and it's just
fun to come back in here and celebrate with everybody
and just enjoy the work that we put in.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Awesome and congrats, Thank you, hey.

Speaker 13 (24:22):
Andy, Jim Zochi for you just the way you came in.
I mean, spreading the ball all around and obviously it
had a big game with the De'ontae Johnson out there,
but whether it was who was running the ball, what
the routes were there being thrown, it seems like everybody
touched the football out there was a part of that offensive.

Speaker 7 (24:36):
Really the precision out there today, Yeah.

Speaker 11 (24:38):
I mean, we we've we've got guys and I think
that's the thing, you know, for me, it's just just
distributing the ball to get the guys in space and
get it in their hands quick so they can go
do something with it. And I think we proved today
that it's not just one guy. Obviously Deontay had had
a big game, but we spread it around and.

Speaker 10 (24:57):
Got a lot of different guys involved.

Speaker 13 (24:59):
All right, well, Andy, will let you go. I mean,
we don't usually talk about the next game when you're
celebrating a game like this, but you probably know what's
coming up next. We're all looking forward to it at
the home game of Cincinnati coming up.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (25:08):
Absolutely, it'll be fun to go against Cincinnati, a place
that I has spent a lot of my career and
so I'm gonna enjoy this one. Then we'll start getting
ready early this week.

Speaker 13 (25:18):
Absolutely, you go do that.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
Thank you, Andy, Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Speaker 13 (25:21):
There So, Andy Dalton obviously huge part of the central
figure in today's victory here in Vegas. As we said it,
back to Charotte, down with Brett, Eugene and Mike.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
All right, thanks a lot, Jim, and we have been
informed the tomorrow it's National Redhead Appreciation. God better time
we started a little bit early.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
We can start.

Speaker 6 (25:43):
But I'll tell you what he was seventy percent if
I'm not mistaken, a completion percentage.

Speaker 3 (25:49):
That's outstanding.

Speaker 6 (25:50):
The distribution that I thought that he delegated the ball
across the field, I thought it was absolutely absolutely spectaclar.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
That's what you want to be. You want to be
really balanced.

Speaker 6 (25:59):
Now you put everyone on notice, from the linebackers to
the safeties, to the corners, to the guys who come
on third down. Everybody's on notice because at any moment,
anyone can get the ball based on the whims of
what he sees. And I thought he did it one
once again, a masterful job of getting the ball out
in a timely manner and throwing people open.

Speaker 5 (26:19):
And I like the first thing he talked about was
that it was it was a total team effort and
everybody that stepped on the field that had a positive contribution.

Speaker 6 (26:28):
And we didn't even talk about to he bought out, dude,
Oh yeah, he's the main guy. That's your guy. He's
the main running back on his team. Bar none, No,
there's nobody on it. I want to make sure he
gets the ball and he's running like that, Brett that hey,
he wants you to know that he's the best running
back on the team. That's he ran extremely well.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
He's the guy you went out there when when you
need the tough yards. He had one hundred and fourteen
yards today, five point four yards to carry and he was, hey,
when you want to chew up the clock as they
were doing win in the second half, was your man?

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Tube was a guy and also he receiver first half.

Speaker 5 (27:05):
Yeah, I mean he had that first touchdown. I mean
they were able to the way Andy Dalton kind of
set things up early on. They were able to have
good balance in the running game, which is what they
what was the plan coming in and they were able
to You know, it's one thing to have a plan,
because all plans look good, but if they're not exe
right until you get punched the face and start executing,

(27:26):
you know. And so I think that was really the
And you mentioned that he's the starting quarterback. You know,
his role has been as the backup, but he I
think just having him in there just gave everybody a
collective deep breath, like, okay, we can kind of restart,
give it a restart here.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
And I think everyone played like that.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
And lie, well, let me add in to you but
not only is he the guy that you know he's
going to show up some yards inside pounding, but they
also were able to get him outside and pass the routes.
He had fifty five yards receiving. You put that guy
out in the flat a little bit, get in the ball,
and he's gonna run over some people.

Speaker 3 (28:01):
Who does that remind you of when we did that?
We did it with McCaffrey.

Speaker 6 (28:04):
McCaffrey was not only the main running back, but he
was a receiving guy who's gonna get you about fifty
five sixty seventy yards. You're like, man, he got that many. Yeah,
he goes on a screen, we'll touchdown. That's what Tuba
was able to do. And so I see his role
as changing, but I see his confidence really just swelling
up because he knows that he's the guy. And when

(28:25):
you're the guy that you're not in the backup, that
they're calling your number, you play, you play a different way.
You look forward to it. And Tuba, you were just
a beast today.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
One hundred and sixty nine. All the fast yards, all
purpose yards, ain't mat at the Tuba all right. Before
we take our next break, we're gonna pause to the
seconds for station identification on the Carolina Panthers Radio Network.
All right, before we the artist, you are listening to
the Paths post game Show presented by Southern Star, an
official burbot of the Carolina Panthers, celebrate the spirit of
the Carolinas. Still ahead, we'll hear from Dave Canalis. We'll

(28:59):
also get the final thoughts of the guys at Las Vegas.
Go over to the statump today's ball game and we'll
have our three and outs as well. So stay with
us as you're listening the Panthers Football presented by Morris Jenkins.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
Back to the Panthers postgame Show, presumly by Southern Star,
unofficial bourbon of the Carolina Panthers celebrate the Spirit of
the Carolinas.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
Hey, welcome back along with the Gene Robinson, Mike Pachico,
Brett mcbellan. Glad to have you with us as we're
celebrating the Panthers first win of the season, the first
winn of the Dave Canalis Era thirty six twenty two
over the Las Vegas Raiders. And it really wasn't that close.
The Panthers dominated this ball game, getting out to a
huge lead and then just kind of coasting through the

(29:43):
fourth quarter as the Raiders tossed the ball around a
lot towards the end of the ball game. This Panthers
Locker Room Show is brought to you by Southern Star
and official bourbon of the Carolina Panthers celebrate the spirit
of the Carolinas. We're going to head back to Las
Vegas where Jim Luke and a Nishef caught up with
the coach.

Speaker 8 (29:59):
Oh, we welcome in Anthur's head coach, Dave Canalis first
win as an NFL head coach. I know you're in
the mode of going from one game to the next,
but can you just reflect on that first win.

Speaker 14 (30:11):
Absolutely, it's a tribute to a group of guys working
together to set a standard, to establish a standard of
our processes, of our practices, of the focus and intentionality.
It takes the ability to play together, the ability to
play complimentary football, which is how this whole thing is
built and design. And so this is just a tribute

(30:32):
of a bunch of a bunch of guys on the
staff as well, who are just grinding, burning the midnight
oil to just find little ways to improve us fighting
and scratching and competing, that's all we know how to do.
And then and a group players who are committed to
doing this.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
So this is a.

Speaker 14 (30:46):
Huge celebration for us of just the process and what.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
It can lead to.

Speaker 8 (30:50):
Dave, when you make that move a quarterback, that's not
an easy decision. But what did Andy Dalton bring to
this offense today?

Speaker 14 (31:00):
You know, really it was the whole group. It was
just about playing complimentary football. When you can convert some
of your third downs. You know, we were forty six
percent on the day, which is not a stellar day
on third down, but it's good because we continue drives.
We had some earned first on first and second down
to be able to continue to play football. When you
can give the defense a chance to take a breath,
they come out and they play the run stout. They

(31:21):
run like crazy, and we're not putting them out there
as much, you know, and there are days that happened
that way, you know. But when you can play complimentary football,
then you're just making the whole team stronger as you
finish the game. And that's what really felt like today.

Speaker 13 (31:35):
David jim Zoki look at Chuva hubbards day, one hundred
and fourteen yards rushing five catches, fifty five yards and
a touchdown. You've been around a lot of backs, probably
one of the most underrated guys that is so versatile
and so excellent in so many different areas.

Speaker 14 (31:49):
Yeah, it's consistency. It's the way that he attacks his work.
He's conscientious about everything, taking care of his body, studying,
communicating with his group, the O the running backs in
their room. You know, really a guy that's that's emerging
as a leader on our team because he stands for
the principles that were about about the quality and standard
of work it takes to be a professional, and it

(32:10):
just pays off for him when he gets his opportunities
because he's in fantastic shape. He presses the runs right,
he's patient, he he caught the ball out of the
backfield great today. You know, so all those things, just
the consistency. I was really excited about.

Speaker 12 (32:23):
Coach who's up as Luke congratulations, And I just I
love watching our offensive line come off the ball and
move people. When I feel like a lot of the
runs that Cuba had he didn't get touched into. It
was a couple of yards down the field, and he
just kind of talk about those guys, the effort they
had and the blocking that we got from Tommy and the.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
Receivers out wide.

Speaker 12 (32:42):
Everybody put their their effort into making sure that he
wasn't getting touched with a couple of yards down the field.

Speaker 7 (32:47):
Absolutely.

Speaker 14 (32:48):
I mean, you can't talk about, you know, Andy and
the explosive plays in the yards that he had without
talking about the pass protection unit, you know, and the
way that those guys were able to you know, pass
off stunts, give him a pocket to throw from, you know,
in the run game, just relentless in the way that
they're working together and they're combos communicating and just like
just having that attitude that you really want that we're
really looking for Looke. It looked like Panthers football today,

(33:10):
moving the line of scrimmage, protecting when we have to
and playing complimentary football.

Speaker 12 (33:13):
And I just and the other thing too, the receivers
out wide. Obviously everybody touched the ball today and that
was awesome to see. But I feel like guys blocked
really well. And then there was a couple of routes
where the inside guy runs it clear out and you
fill avoid on like a big in cut by Deontay
on that long third down and just talk about the
guy's effort knowing I'm not getting the ball, but my
job is to clear the zone out.

Speaker 14 (33:35):
Yeah, it's habits, you know, it's practice habits. And I
got to give props to coach Rob Moore, the receivers coach.
He's on those guys to transition and block in front
of the plays, you know, in the run game, finish
to play with hands on somebody in the effort and
the pride that they take in that, you know so
and the group that just they really love playing with
each other and so when somebody gets an opportunity, they
understand like mine may come at some point, but I

(33:56):
have a job to do first and foremost. And that's
how you play good winning football.

Speaker 12 (34:00):
And also the last thing for you, I just love
you ask those guys to go block, and they go block,
and you ask those guys to run clearouts and run
clearouts and then you throw them the ball. And I
just think as a player, that's so empowering of Hey,
I'm gonna go do some dirty work, but I know
that coach is gonna call me some plays and I
get to touch the ball.

Speaker 14 (34:19):
It certainly is the payoff, right and from you know,
being a college receiver myself, you know, I always appreciated
the way that it all fits in exactly and just
knowing like if I if I fire off the line
of scrimmage every time, they don't know if it's a
runner pass. So on the run play, come off the
ball fast, get your hands on somebody, and then that
opens up your stems in the past game.

Speaker 12 (34:37):
I just love you that you reward those guys for
all the hard work, and I'll let you go enjoy
this win.

Speaker 14 (34:41):
No doubt.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
Thanks Luke.

Speaker 13 (34:42):
Yep, all right, coach, thank you, all right, thank you.
Coach Dave Canal's win number one in the Dave Canal's
coaching era, team win all the way around, no doubt
about it.

Speaker 10 (34:50):
Thirty six twenty two.

Speaker 13 (34:52):
Back to Charlotte, we go with all the gang there
with Brett, Eugene and Mike.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
All Right, thanks a lot, Jim appreciate it. That's not
the most philosophical I've heard Coach Canalis. He's been very
you know, we hear him kind of bubbly, especially in
the preseason, very optimistic, but he was today he was
more philosophical.

Speaker 6 (35:09):
Yeah, I know, he's excited about the win.

Speaker 3 (35:13):
I can tell.

Speaker 6 (35:14):
But it also he seems like that, not that he's
moved on to the next thing, but he thinks like,
I'm trying to get this all together, and I'm orchestrating
this thing and trying to put this thing together, and
this is just a little bit of what we that
we wouldn't been able to go ahead and do. There's
more to come. It appears to be one of those deals.
To me, it has that feeling. And I tell you what,

(35:37):
I like the fact that he's saying, Look, you might
not be the super duper star on the team. I
might have to you might have to run a clearing
route every single time and then you may get the ball,
but you got to do your job and you got
to do that with pride and the responsibility that I
see these guys taking up to do their job, even
though it's minuscule, but it means a big deal, a

(35:59):
really big deal to clear out that. That's unselfish football
and that's winning football. So that one was really good
to see.

Speaker 5 (36:06):
I also don't think you want to get and this
is gonna sound conterintuitive. I think you don't want to
get too ahead of yourself and too excited. You know,
it's three games in and I think he's trying to
build something here. The one thing I like, and you've
probably seen this a lot where you've been, Gene, I've
seen this with a lot of successful coaches I've been around.
There's three or four core principles and they keep hammering
those three or four core principles. And what was he

(36:26):
hammering today? It was playing complimentary football. It was staying
together as a group, it was getting better. I mean,
all the things that he wants to accomplish are the
things that he said that in that postgame.

Speaker 6 (36:36):
And it was made possible. I really believe this too
by Andy Dalton. The fact that you had the excitement
of Andy Dalton getting in it and then you saw
the execution of it. You gotta be if you on
that sideline, you gotta be going crazy. You're like, oh, okay,
oh it's owned. Now it's own and popping that's right,
that's right, Okay, what to get out there? We're gonna
get the ball back for you? Do we don't get

(36:56):
the ball back for you. It's that attitude. And I've
been in there where we had a quarterback like a
Brett Fire, We had a quarterback like a Dave Craig,
where it's exciting and you can't wait to get the
ball back for him. And so that was really good
to see. And that's the complimentary football that I think
the coach is talking about. And so I'm looking forward
to more complimentary football because what we.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
Saw today, I don't know moving forward.

Speaker 6 (37:20):
I'm just saying that looked really, really good and it
looked like winning football.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
When we come back, we'll go through some of the
stats of today's ball game. Also ahead, we'll hear the
final thoughts from Jim Luke and Aedish. So stay with
us here all the Carolina Panthers Radio Network and welcome
back to the Panthers postgame show, presented by Southern Star
and official Burbon of the Carolina Panthers. Celebrate the spirit

(37:45):
of the Carolinas Panthers win it today thirty six twenty
two over the Las Vegas Raiders as the Panthers go
to one and two on the season, when the first
road game they've won in a couple of seasons. Both
the wins last year came at home.

Speaker 6 (38:01):
It just it feels good if you're a Panther fan,
and I know I am, and I'm partial.

Speaker 3 (38:06):
But this is a great day. This is a really
really good good day.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Yep. Absolutely, it's good to see and a lot of enthusiasm.
And I think after what we saw at home last week,
especially with the crowd wooh reaction we had from the
for the Panthers at home last week, I think it's
gonna be huge with the Panthers coming back home next
week to take on Cincinnati, and I think there's gonna
be a lot more enthusiasm.

Speaker 3 (38:31):
It's gonna be at enthusiasm.

Speaker 6 (38:32):
But everybody's gonna talk about the quarterback matchup because Andy
Dalton left Cincinnati and you I got the one of
the kid, Joe Burrows, and now you got the old guy.
It's gonna be a really exciting, you know matchup. If
you will to go ahead, people are gonna be talking
about this one.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
Yep. Absolutely. We'll just take a look at some of
the stats from today's ball game. We're talking about Andy Dalton.
He goes twenty six and thirty seven, three hundred and
nineteen yards and three touchdowns. Chuba Hubbard we talked about
a little bit, twenty one carries a hundred fourteen yards,
and then also Miles Sanders seven carries for seventeen yards,
and Mingo had one carrier for two yards. Also, Deontay

(39:10):
Johnson had eight catches one hundred and twenty two yards
and one touchdown. Who Hubbard had five catches for fifty
five yards and one touchdown, like get two catches for
forty two yards. DeLand had three catches for forty yards
and a touchdown. Trumpbell had three catches for twenty nine yards,
Bingo had three catches for eighteen yards. Sanders had two
catches for thirteen yards. There were three sacks by the

(39:33):
Panthers defense. Jaden Peevey, Lebrian Ray, and Jadevion Clowney all
had sacks on the day. Mike, what do you got?

Speaker 5 (39:42):
Well, there was some dominating numbers from the team stats.
When you look at four hundred and thirty seven total
yards to three hundred and thirty one, So obviously you
know one hundred more than that, almost eighty more yards
rushing one hundred and thirty one. And listen, the defense
held the ratest of fifty five yards rushing. The big
numbers that we always kind of harp about, or the

(40:02):
third down numbers, Panthers were five of twelve, almost forty
two percent.

Speaker 4 (40:05):
Almost forty and they held.

Speaker 5 (40:08):
They held the Raiders to three of eleven twenty seven percent.
The one thing I would say about the third down
because I think, I mean, that's a good and David
Canal said, hey, it's good. We'd like it to be
over that better than that, but we'll take it. But
there were a lot of times, I mean, the Panthers
had twenty four first downs and a lot of those
were coming on first and second down, or a good
number of I mean, so they didn't have to kind

(40:29):
of sometimes when you see that number, even forty two
percent is good, but it belies the point that they
were still getting a lot of big plays on first
and second down. They weren't having to they weren't having
to rely on a third down to keep something on.

Speaker 6 (40:41):
And don't forget last week they were less than ten
percent one third down and a week before that they
were like twenty percent.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
Only only had two third down versions coming into that exactly.

Speaker 6 (40:51):
So this is jump up to forty percent. That's huge,
and that means that you're controlling controlling the floor of
the game, controlling the clock, and then when you're winning
on first and second down, that you got third down
the shore, or you got another first down. That's even better.
You are decimating your opponent and you are putting them
behind the eight ball and they don't know what happened

(41:12):
because they're like, hey, the Scott of reports that these
guys weren't good on third down percentage, and they somehow
they are good. The Scott of Reports said they didn't
have a quarterback to throw the rock. But some now
out of that, the scottar reports said this. The Scott
of Reports said that, well, guess what, stop reading the
scholar reports, because guess what these panthers were for real
today and they put they they put them on it.

Speaker 5 (41:32):
Well they sure did, because time of possessions almost twelve
more minutes thirty six to about twenty four.

Speaker 6 (41:39):
That's huge, that is absolutely and that helps the defense.
I'm sitting on the sideline drinking gatoray a little bit
Washington thing. Oh when we get back out there, oh no,
they got.

Speaker 1 (41:48):
A long time.

Speaker 4 (41:49):
Also shows that you're moving like your offense is moving there.

Speaker 6 (41:51):
You're moving you it's a long drive. You're driving the ball,
and that other defense is getting tired on the field.

Speaker 2 (41:57):
Well, now they sit there, look at it. Look at
the tablets when you were playing the link to chalk
boards looked at, we looked at and they got that
old electromatic out no head that just sketch draw plays
sketch Ye that your report is brought to you by

(42:21):
Atriam Health. You deserve to live your best life at
Atrim Health is here to help, and the Panthers do
have some concerns coming in the injury department after today's game,
ln and Johnson suffered a groin injury, Adam Thielen had
a hamstring injury, Jordan Fuller a hamstring injury, and Damian
Lewis an elbow injury. So those are ones that we
want to keep an eye on, uh during the course

(42:43):
of this week, So we keep an eye on that.
When we come back, we'll get the final thoughts to
the guys in Vegas, So stay with us on the
Panthers Football presented by Morris Jenkins.

Speaker 1 (42:54):
Back to Brett McMillan with more of the Panthers postgame
show pre se by othern Star Fun official bourbon of
the Carolina Panthers celebrate the spirit up in Carolinas.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
Welcome back to the Panthers postgame show. As the guy said,
It's presented by Southern Star and official Breben of the
Carolina Panthers. Celebrate the spirit of the Carolinas. We're going
to head back to Las Vegas. Before him, Luke and
Aniche head to the casino. We'll get their final posts,
all right.

Speaker 13 (43:23):
We haven't had a lot of happy final thoughts. It's
usually about what went wrong, a niche, what could be
fixed next week, Luke. But this time a chance to celebrate,
a chance to enjoy what was a really lopsided game.
Even the final score doesn't do it justice. Thirty six
to twenty two, the final here in Las Vegas, and
you saw the defense improve, of course, some great things
and special teams with the central figure in this Andy

(43:44):
Dalton three hundred and nineteen yards, three touchdowns in this game,
not through an interception. Quarterback rating of over one twenty three.
His top target today was Deontay Johnson eight catches, one
hundred and twenty two yards in a touchdown, but Choopa
Hubbard had five for fifty five and a touchdown. Feeling
had a touchdown part of his three catches for forty
yards and one hundred yard rusher in Chewba Hubbard twenty

(44:05):
one carries one hundred and fourteen yards. Defense did their
job to keeping Vegas in check throughout this game. But finally,
for coach Dave Canalis, his first win. A lot of
fun to see them enjoy this one, and it really was,
in a lot of ways a dominating performance by Carolina.

Speaker 8 (44:20):
And it started from the very first drive. The Panthers
got the ball first, they marched down the field. Andy
Dalton throws a touchdown pass to Chewba Hubbard. Moments ago
the Panthers contingent in one of the end zone corners.
We heard them break out in a chant of Andy
and d well deserved. Andy Dalton came in and against

(44:42):
a team that has the emblems of pirates, it was
the Panthers who were able to find calm seas, steer
the ship and maybe find some trade wins here where
they can carry into next week. In the month of October,
you get the Bengals at home, and then you're facing three,
maybe four rookie quarterbacks. If for some reason Kirk Cousins

(45:03):
isn't starting in the Falcons game in the month of October,
you start to think there's a chance to enjoy this win,
but build some momentum off of it, and look the
trickle down effect. I'm not trying to pile on on
Bryce Young. This is more about Andy Dalton and what
he did today. But his presence out there, it seemed
like it gave the whole team energy and we saw

(45:24):
it not just from the offense, the defense too.

Speaker 2 (45:27):
Well.

Speaker 12 (45:27):
You just you just look how the flow of the
game when you get a veteran quarterback back there we got.
Jake Delane texted us, he said, Andy Dalton looks so
relaxed on TV. He looks calm, he.

Speaker 7 (45:40):
Looks He really cleaned up that text message.

Speaker 12 (45:42):
Yeah there's some other stuff in there too, but it's
just Andy Dalton.

Speaker 7 (45:47):
You know what.

Speaker 12 (45:47):
It probably helped Andy a lot to see the first
two weeks see what our offense looked like. He probably said, hey,
these are some things that I would change. And now
Andy got an opportunity to go out there and do it.
And it's it's not a surprise for Andy. I mean,
it's been around the lead a long time. He's had
a ton of success. He had a ton of success
when he went in the game last year. Quite frankly,
we're a better team offensively, personnel wise, than we are

(46:09):
when we were last year. We're really good up front.
I think we saw that today. I think we've got
tons of options at wide receiver. Obviously Deontay Johnson had
a phenomenal game, but the ball got spread out. We
converted early on third down. I thought we largely stayed
ahead of the sticks. The run game was super effective
early in downs, and then a lot of those third
downs were third and short, and we just and we

(46:31):
just on some of the third downs. What did we
end up zoke on third down twelve? We just missed
a few on our parts. So it was just one
of those things. We just played really clean football today.
I thought Dave Canalis on the offensive side of the
ball had a great game plan. He had really he
had a couple of good packages that we talked about.
That wide slot formation. He had a really two by

(46:52):
two gun far back away from the tight end the
guard pools front side. We had some runs off of it,
and we had a couple of play action you know,
you know, bang eights, skinny posts, inside cut dig routes
off of it. I just thought it was a really
well coached game. We made some good adjustments. The defense
played really well. And I'll tell you what. The defensive line.
We're not going to talk about them enough. They did

(47:13):
such a good job of keeping Gardner Minshew in the pocket,
not letting him escape. That's boring football for those guys
up front. At the end of the game, those guys
kind of got cut free Jadavian at of sack, Jaydon
Peeve at of sack.

Speaker 2 (47:24):
They did a really good job.

Speaker 3 (47:25):
All right.

Speaker 13 (47:25):
So for the Panthers win by two touchdowns, Most of
the game was much more lopsided than that, but they'll
take it thirty six twenty two and bring it home
to take on the Bengals coming up next weekend. Thanks

Speaker 4 (48:44):
There we go. All right, So let's go to the
late games.

Speaker 2 (48:46):
Here.

Speaker 5 (48:47):
Seattle winning over Miami twenty four to three. Geno Smith
touchdown two interceptions in that game, Jared Goff ninety nine
yards in the air. Detroit beats Arizona twenty to three.
Baltimore and Dallas was the game we were talking about
late twenty eight, twenty five win for the Ravens. They
big comeback for Dallas, but they fell a little bit short.

(49:07):
The Rams also had a big comeback. They were done
twenty four to fourteen. At one point in the fourth quarter.
They got a Joshua Cardi field goal late thirty seven
yarder to go ahead and win that game twenty seven
to twenty four.

Speaker 4 (49:20):
Of course, we have a game.

Speaker 5 (49:21):
But the Falcon just scored a touchdown here in this
game that we're watching with the Chiefs doing no Chiefs
in the one on one Falcons, So pat upcoming here.

Speaker 4 (49:30):
But it's six nothing right now.

Speaker 5 (49:31):
Falcons Jaguars and Bills tomorrow at seven thirty, and then
the Commanders and the Bengals will tip off at eight
or kickoff tomorrow at fifteen to finish up the week
three of the NFL.

Speaker 2 (49:43):
Double header on Monday. Interesting, Okay, will we.

Speaker 4 (49:46):
Come back a little bit later? Normally it's like the
first weekend.

Speaker 3 (49:48):
Of the same Yeah.

Speaker 2 (49:49):
Yeah, that's because they had a Friday game this year,
I think, Yeah, the double hitterer on Monday.

Speaker 4 (49:54):
Yeah, now it's seven nothing. They kicked kat All.

Speaker 2 (49:57):
Right, when we come back, wellver outs, well there, Well,
our Vegas guys go hang out the casino and they
give money to my friend Brendan at the casino at
the slot machines in the airport. All right, you're listened
to Panthers Football presented by Morris Jacobs.

Speaker 1 (50:12):
The Panthers postgame show continues. Please see me by Southern
Star unofficial Bourbon of the Carolina Panthers celebrate the Spirit
of the Carolinas. Hey, welcome back to the Panthers post
game show. It is presented by Southern Star and officier
Bourbon of the Carolina Panthers. Celebrate the Spirit of the
Carolinas and right now the spirit is a thirty six

(50:34):
twenty two win over the Las Vegas Raiders. It wasn't,
by the way, the three of us, yes, and I
almost speak too soon, but I don't think any of
us will be referring to the Raiders through the rest
of the show. We have all gotten through this show
without referring to them by the O word radually, all
of us.

Speaker 5 (50:54):
Yeah, well yeah, but if I'm being honest, Well, I
thought I heard you say Los Angeles at the beginning
of the.

Speaker 3 (51:00):
Did I Yeah, I think you did.

Speaker 2 (51:02):
But hey, but it was darn But it wasn't Oakland.

Speaker 3 (51:04):
But it wasn't.

Speaker 2 (51:05):
It wasn't Oakland.

Speaker 3 (51:06):
It wasn't Oakland.

Speaker 2 (51:07):
You know, I did refer last week. I was doing
the press box PA last week, and I made it
until the last two minutes of the game, until I
called them San Diego.

Speaker 6 (51:15):
Well, I played it when it was Oakland Raiders in
Los Angeles, so.

Speaker 2 (51:17):
There was the Chargers here last week. I made it
through an entire game and to the last two minutes
before I called San Diego one time, what are you
gonna do?

Speaker 4 (51:24):
Yes, you're ingrained, and then they changed exactly right.

Speaker 2 (51:27):
Well, you know this is the last three games of
the Oakland A's this week. Is there you go before
they before they moved to Sacramento.

Speaker 4 (51:35):
Yeah, that's a shame too. Yeah, but that's another postgame show.

Speaker 2 (51:38):
Exactly all right, let's go ahead and do our three
and outs and we will exit for the week. Eugene Robinson,
what do you got.

Speaker 6 (51:45):
Uh, Coach Canalis, I commend you for having the guts
to go ahead and sit down. Uh the young man
Bryce and then brought put in Andy Dalton. I thought
it was a really good move, a gussye move. It
paid dividends. I think, uh moving forward is unveil the
the entire playbook for Andy because he definitely can handle

(52:05):
it deficively. I thought they played extremely well. They looked
like a fast defense, The secondary looked spot on, and
also we didn't talk about the edge control. The edges
would handle perfectly. Good job by Dadavian Clowney and he
had a sect, but he also controlled the edge, so
there was some real and Shaq was able to move

(52:26):
over in there make some tack. There was some really
good plays from the defense, which I like that needs
to go forward. You got Cincinnati coming in here, throw
caution to the win and just play to win the game.
Not to be evil with those guys, but played to
win the game.

Speaker 5 (52:44):
And you know, we're in high school football season, and
it's really it's fresh for me because obviously I have
a son that it's at Charlotte Catholic here and Charlotte.
But for the youngsters out there that that you know,
maybe our backups, you know understand that you know you're
you know, be ready.

Speaker 2 (52:59):
Right.

Speaker 5 (53:00):
He could have just kind of, you know, breezed into retirement,
but he has stayed sharp and he's been part of
the process. And then he had a great week of
practice and he came in and he helped lift up
this team. So it's just a great lesson for those
that are still playing the game that you know, you
might be the backup, but you could be the starter
in a minute, and just you know, always be ready.
And it's great to have a guy like Andy Dalton

(53:22):
and that's why he was here. He was here to
you know, bring in Bryce and help him along and hopefully,
you know, Bryce will get another opportunity, and I think
when he does, hopefully he's learned that he doesn't have
to be perfect.

Speaker 4 (53:34):
You strive to be perfect, but you have to be perfect.

Speaker 6 (53:37):
Strive to be perfect, but be good exactly because guess
what you're gonna You're gonna lose. You're gonna make some
mistakes in this game, and that's part of it, and
he just learned from it.

Speaker 2 (53:45):
Yeah, well that was actually one of my three and
ounce was you know, tune out the national media that
says us all over for Bryce Young and that the
Panthers have made a huge mistake in drafting. This is
we've talked about in this show. This is a chance
for him to learn the NFL game and learned the
speed of the NFL game and how it really operates.
And he's going to learn from a guy that's been

(54:05):
around this game a long time and put together a
really nice game today and learn how it should be
done without the pressure of having to perform a week
after week after week under the spotlight of being a
starting quarterback. Enjoy this win. But let's not get too
far ahead of ourselves and think that everything's been cured.
There were a lot of mistakes. There were some mistakes
in the offensive line today, some holding mistakes, and you know,

(54:27):
there still are some things that need to be cleaned up.
It's a nice step in the right direction.

Speaker 4 (54:31):
No, that's that's Tomorrow's three.

Speaker 2 (54:32):
Enough to enjoy it, don't get too far ahead of ourselves.
And I think this is a really important win for
Dave Canalis, for a first year head coach who's trying
to sell his culture on this team. They needed this one,
They needed something positive to build off of, and I
think this is very important. So next week, as we

(54:53):
talked about, the Bengals come to town, the Panther Stadium
show will be at ten o'clock on the Fox, followed
by the cat dowed to kick off at noon and
off at one o'clock, and then we'll be back for
the Panthers' postgame show right around at four o'clock.

Speaker 4 (55:04):
Once again.

Speaker 2 (55:04):
The final. Today, the Panthers beat Las Vegas thirty six
twenty two.
