Speaker 1 (00:06):
This is the Patriots Catch twenty two podcasts with Evan
Lazar and Alex Barth.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Blazarre and Lazar O.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Everybody nailed it joined us always by our bar gap.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Here is Evan Lazar and Alex bar.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
In terms of the way is that the Jets can
actually beat you, like between the lines.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
I there's a couple of things.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Their run game offensively is very explosive, it's not very consistent.
It's kind of like last week for the Patriots, where
it's like two big runs often skewed all their numbers.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Bries Hall is an explosive back.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
I think he's third in the league right now an
explosive run rate, So he's a big play threat. We
obviously know what Justin Fields can do with those design
quarterback runs. This is options like he's gonna be in
the gun. He's gonna have you read option plays. It's
going to be you know, tackle trap, it's going to
be zone read, it's gonna be r p O, it's
gonna be Justin Fields is trying to run all over

(01:01):
this field tomorrow night. I have some lingering thoughts on
that because that's kind of what we saw on the
opening drive. But then the Patriots clamped it down, as
they seem to do, Alex every week. We have the
same exact formula for this Patriots defense, so we'll get
to all of that. I don't want to do an

(01:23):
entire autopsy of this Jets game because it's almost a
week ago this game happened. But I do have some
let's call them lingering thoughts from the Jets game that
are a little bit more big picture, so we'll get
to that here in a few minutes. I do want
to start with news as well, or just you know,
kind of current state of things for the Patriots. But
it's Evan Lazarre, it's Alex Barth, it's Alex Pine the Glass.

(01:47):
We are going to be here for the next couple
of hours talking Patriots football, and it's a good time
to be talking Patriots football. This is the most fun
I've had talking Patriots football. And I was trying to
think about this actually because maybe I was just too
close to it at this point. But by twenty eighteen,

(02:07):
twenty nineteen, you could tell that Brady was kind of miserable,
and I don't know if it was as fun as
more as it was relieving when they won.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
In twenty eighteen.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I think a lot of people feel that way about
the whole maybe second chapter of the Dynasty because the
stakes and the expectations were so so high that it
was literally when the Super Bowl or the season was
a failure, that there was almost this feeling of pressure
or stress about winning versus just celebrating the fact that

(02:41):
they were winning.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
So much so, this team is playing with.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
House money a little bit in year one under Mike Rabel,
and I think it's it's been more fun to talk
about it and more fun to talk about it and
discover it now. I think it's the most fun I've
ever had covering a Patriots team as a fan, Like
I think you probably have to go back to fourteen sixteen,

(03:10):
like those teams, because like I said, eighteen was the
wheels were already kind of coming off in eighteen.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
So I would say, like, probably this really.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Dynasty two point oh, like the meat of Dynasty two
point oh when they were going to the AFC Championship
Game every single year. But again it was like like
I remember in twenty eleven when they beat Baltimore in
the AFC Championship Game and kind of misses the kick
and was it Sterling Moore, yep, right, a drop it
gets the drop or whatever us yep, those plays.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
I just remember being so relieved that they won that game.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Not euphorick are happy that they won that game, but
just flat out they should have lost that game. Thank
god they didn't. And then of course you go on
that year in particular and lose Super Bowl. But what
you must be having a great time with this too,
because this is the first time that we really covered
a team that's like new, when young and exciting.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Yeah, I mean, look, twenty one was cool, obviously, I
think what's happened since take some of the shine off
of that, right, and that was maybe kind of like eighteen,
and there was an element of being defensive about it,
obviously for different reasons. But no, this has been I mean, yeah,

(04:31):
like you said, i'd look at you having fun, proud
would thought you don't usually do that. I don't, but
you know, watching these games out.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Of me until Drake May and Mike Rabel brought it back.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Watching these Now you hated fun even when when Brady
was here.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Yeah, because it wasn't fun.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
No, I'm sorry, twenty eighteen was still fun.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
It was fun when it probably helps.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
It probably helps that it was our first year. If
we'd been doing it, if we could compare it to
fourteen and sixteen in terms of covering the team, it
would probably feel a little different. The fact that it
was our first year helped. But no, it was really
cool sitting down Sunday and watching these games and thinking
about how some of these teams stack up with the Patriots,

(05:11):
and they put the playoff graphic up on CBA. I
used to love it when I was a kid growing
up and they'd put this not in a hunt, a
lot more than in the Hunt. I used to love
when they put the graphic up on Sundays at the
end of the game, and then do all the machinations
in my head, all right, this and that, and you
know what, I went back to. It used to be
one of my favorite things when we first worked together.
I used to make you fill this out every week
and we post it the ESPN Playoff Machine. I dove

(05:34):
back into the playoff machine, you have to say, for
the first time in a while, so you know, to
watch all these games.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
And for somebody that hates all of that, the fact
that you like the playoff machine kind of is mind boggling.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
We do have to do it.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
It's a predictive model, like it's a model that's based
off of the expected.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
No, it's not. We're talking about different. I'm talking about
the thing where you literally just it gives you the schedule,
you pick each game, and then it tells you what
the playoff will look like.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Still trying to predict what's gonna happen in the Yeah, that's.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Not okay, Okay, there's a difference between I'm gonna pick
who I think is gonna win the game from watching
the games and like analytics. Those are two different things. Okay,
they don't have they have some pre secretary you can
do like win percentage, offensive rank. They don't have anyway.
But no, it's been cool that, like the Patriots are
in the National League conversation and we're talking about potential

(06:23):
playoff matchups, we're talking about seating, we're talking about I mean,
what we did at the open the last show. Like,
that's been great. That there's some bigger thing that this
season is building towards. That's not who are they gonna
take in the top five of the draft. Don't get wrong,
I love doing the draft, but we did it I
also write I did it, and I don't. I don't mind.
As much as I love the draft, I don't mind
if we don't get to it until the end of

(06:44):
January or maybe even the middle of Fay. Well, so
do a little Senior Bowl.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
But well, I was just talking to Deduce about in
our line of work, as we kind of have to
start planning for things like the Senior Bowl, and the.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Com players can't look ahead.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
So we've had just preliminary conversations about that kind of stuff.
And it's real, it's a real question, uh, this year
of like I mean, the Senior bowls right after the
AFC Championship game, in between the Super Bowl and the
championship weekend, So.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Depending on Pro Bowl, depending on how long.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
The Patriots are season goes like you know, dare I say,
they could be playing.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
But there could be some overlaps. So it's like, what
do we do?

Speaker 3 (07:30):
You know? And that has not been a conversation that
we've had the last two years. It's cool, look at me,
look at look at us. I'm having fun.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Isn't that good? All right, let's talk about some news.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
With the Patriots and Patriots adjacent news, and then I
do want to get to those lingering thoughts from this
Jets game. I have some thoughts and I'm sure you
do too. Actually got to watch some football on Sunday
around the NFL and not just cover the Patriots, so
we got to see some other teams play, and just
like you were talking about with the AFC playoff pictures,

(08:03):
So we'll get to some of that too, and we'll
talk a little bit.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Bengals of course and all that good stuff.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
But starting with the news, I want to focus in
on the Patriots. I know, the big news overnight is
that Jamar Chase's suspension was upheld, his appeal was denied.
He is out on Sunday for the Bengals. He will
not play in this game against the Patriots officially. Now
there's no second appeal. You can't, you know, appeal it
to the Supreme Court. Now it's over. Like he's not

(08:29):
playing in this game on Sunday. So that that's sort
of the overnight news. But the news over the weekend
that I think is more important as it pertains to
the Patriots is Milton Williams going out with a high
ankle sprain. Was being described as a high ankle sprain er,
I should say reported as a high ankle sprain. The

(08:50):
current timetable, I think rap sheet said they're thinking four
to six weeks. This does mean and I will write
this down on the piece of paper and put it
on my forehead if I have to. It's games, not week.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
I think at this point people are caught up. There
was definitely some confusion on Saturday. I understand why people,
I think are caught up at this point.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Weeks.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
So that means that Milton Williams will miss at least
the Bengals Giants bills in Ravens games, and obviously coming
off the buy the bills in the Ravens games have
huge implications. Division implications with Buffalo, seating implications with Baltimore. Remember,

(09:33):
on top of the fact that you just want to
keep winning in general, your record within the conference is
a big part of the tiebreaker formula as well. So
if you want to start talking tie breakers, Buffalo and
Baltimore of course are not only a division opponent in Buffalo,
but also AFC opponents as well. So if you start

(09:54):
to you know, if you lose both those games, then
that's going to hurt against the Colds. That's going to
hurt against it might not hurt you as much because
they can go three and three down the stretch and
win twelve games and probably win the division. I would say,
I mean, it's not impossible for Buffalo to come back,
but I would say it's it's more probable than not

(10:15):
that the Patriots at twelve wins would win the.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
As, especially if they win that Bills game.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Sure, but I'm even talking if they don't win the
Bills game.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
If they don't win the Bills game yet, they're still
pbably gonna win it with twelve. But like that game,
that game's not like it will be a hat and
T shirt game.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
There's a few weeks after it, but it's really tough
for Buffalo to win when you look at the rest
of their schedule, to win the division without winning that game.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
Yeah. So when you start to talk about this Milton
Williams injury, obviously there's the impact of losing Milton Williams himself,
and then there's okay, who fills in for Milton Williams
moving forward, But just on Milton Williams himself. Right now,
Milton Williams is third in the league and pass rush
win rate win rate among defensive tackles, so he is

(11:00):
one of the best disruptors on the interior in the NFL.
The Patriots statistically, eye test wise, I would say that
they have an average pass rush. I don't think it stinks,
but it's certainly on the scale of stinks to the
Denver Broncos it's somewhere in the middle.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Well, problem is it runs hot and cold. It's not
like they're this consistent middle level of okay. Sometimes they'll
have stretches, like a driver to where they're really good,
and then they'll have a driver to where they disappear.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
I think a lot of it's dependent on down and distance.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Right when they get you into thirdy long, they've been
able to pressure, but those first and second downs it's
been not so much. So a big part of that
is Milton Williams now removing him. How much does that
have a big picture effect on a Already let's call
it average pass rush as it is. And then I
would also say, you know, they've been doing a lot

(11:53):
with a four man pass rush, So now do you
all have to start blitzing more? Do you have to
starting your play calling not necessarily changing your scheme, but
changing your play calling because you can't generate any pressure
with four guys without Milton Williams.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
So that that's a big trickle down.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
I also think that there's another element of this too,
of now you start to get into you're gonna have
to pick your spots with players situationally, like you're gonna
have to probably recreate Milton Williams in the aggregate of
like two or three different guys that are playing in
certain situations that aren't necessarily a three or four down
player like Milton Williams is. So Corey Durdin is gonna

(12:34):
play a little bit more. I'm sure Tongo will play
a little bit more. Maybe you know, Josh Farmer comes
back and he plays a little bit more. But most importantly,
you know, Tonga has really been used as an early down,
short yardage nose tackle. You know where they go five
man front, three four front. They put him at the nose,
They put Milton Williams and Christian Barmoer at three four ends,

(12:58):
and then they have Landry and Chase on. Obviously, as
you're outside linebackers, now Tonga might have to play more
in four man fronts instead of all only just those
five man fronts, maybe you have Durden play a little
bit more in the four man fronts, which is what
happened at the end of the Jets game after Milton
Williams went out. So I think what they're gonna have
to end up doing is deciding, Okay, you know, Tonga

(13:20):
is gonna be our early down tackle next to Christian Barmore.
Durden's gonna kind of be our late, you know, down
tackle next to Christian Barmore. And they're gonna instead of
having one player that's gonna be playing seventy sixty five
seventy percent of the snaps, they're gonna have to recreate
Milton Williams with a bunch of different bodies.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Yeah, I think that's true. Look, I I don't want
to minimize the injury. Milton Williams has been a great player.
And look, when's the last time an athlete in Boston,
in this media market, in this landscape signed a record
breaking contract and people wondered if maybe they underpaid them,
Like that's how good Milton Williams has been. So I

(14:00):
don't want to diminish the injury. The thing that does
stand out, though, is we talked a lot leading up
to the trade deadline about they were lacking depth in
all these different spots. This is the one spot you
can probably absorb it because they have that depth of
defensive tackle. They have Tongo who's obviously been awesome. Corey

(14:20):
Durtin I think has really come on strong the last
few weeks. Really like watching him play. Eric Gregory comes out,
gets a run stop the first play of his NFL career.
They still Jeremiah Farms on the practice squad as well,
who has some NFL experience. So I don't think it's
gonna look the same without Milton Williams. You're gonna notice
that he's not out there, like there's gonna be a difference.
But I do think if there's one position where they
could handle a major injury, like it shouldn't all fall

(14:43):
apart without Milton Williams, they should be able to get
by with now. When if he's missing time in the playoffs,
that's another story. But for five weeks, four games, whatever,
they should be able to get by. It's just how
do you manage it. And to your point, this is
the one position where they kind of have a lot
of players, you know, relatively speaking, they have a number
of players at their disposal who can do different things,

(15:05):
who can help them get by and handle this. If
they had lost you know, a starter on the edge,
or you know, if they lost another running back or
its tight end or some of these other positions we
were talking about during trade deadline, it would be a
much different conversation and we'd probably be talking about like
free agents and things like that. But yeah, this is
the one position where they are kind of built with
some depth and they should be able to handle it.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
Yeah, I'm pretty optimistic that they'll be able to still
stop the run with the group that they have because
Tong is a really good run player, Turdan's a really
sturdy player, and the Farmer is a strong player.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Long Enred, I didn't.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Even mention farmer. Would you think I'm scarios? Would you
think of Gregory?

Speaker 3 (15:39):
In a few snaps?

Speaker 2 (15:40):
I thought he was fine.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
And what I like about him is, you know, lower
center of gravity, wide body, harder to double team. You know,
he's pretty good at splitting those double teams because he
plays with good leverage.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
In the run game.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
It was limited, but I think there's there's something there
in terms of like run stuffing ability, so I don't
think that they're going to be significantly less stout against
the run without Milton Williams. But what you worry about
is what I mentioned earlier, is are you now going
to have to manufacture more pass rush. Are you're gonna
have to start blitzing more or you have to start
calling more schemed rushes? You know, where you're sending pressure

(16:15):
from different places, and how much does that have a
trickle down effect? Not necessarily against like the Bengals and
the Giants, but when you play those two games against
Baltimore and Buffalo with two teams that have quarterbacks that
if there's holes, those two guys.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Are gonna find the holes in the back end.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
And if you're blitzing guys and things like that, then
you're gonna be able to find it. I think we
all can agree that the best way to defend a
guy like Josh Allen is to.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
Maintain seven or eight guys in coverage.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
Like I think a lot of the teams that you
see have success with Josh Allen, it's four man rush,
it's sometimes even drop eight.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
It's like three man rush. A lot of the time.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
Blitzing him is kind of like blitzing Drake may like
you're just kind of asking probably beat Yeah, yeah, So
I think that that's an element of it with Milon
Williams a couple of other smaller things. But did happen
over the last couple of days with the Patriots Brandon
Swinson and CJ. Dupree signed from the practice squad to

(17:14):
the fifty three man roster. There is some reporting out
there that they were potentially going to get poached by
other teams, and that's what led to this.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
I also think that there's.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
Maybe not so much for Swinson because they have so
much depth in terms of bodies at outside linebacker, and
Elijah Ponder's already flashing and competing for snaps behind Landry
and Chason. So I don't know if there's a direct
path for Swinson, but there's definitely the direct path for
Dupree to play it because they don't have a traditional
third tight end on the roster until now, and we

(17:47):
still don't know. We'll find out later today at practice
if Austin Hooper's concussion, if he's going to be cleared,
if he's going to play on Sunday. So I do
think there's a chance that Dupree could have a role
moving forward. You know, they kind of recreated Dustin Hooper
last Thursday night with Ben Brown and with the six
Z line, and they did that about, I want to say,
twelve or thirteen times in that game last week, So

(18:10):
that was sort of how they recreated the blocking element
with Hooper. But Dupree is a what six', five two
hundred and sixty pound tight, end, like he is a
blocking tight. End this is what he. Does SO i
do think that there's an element of it is as
well to, That but just what are your thoughts on?
Them really not wanting to Lose winston And, dupree it sounds,

(18:31):
like but also any potential roles for those two.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
GUYS i do wonder If dupree is going to have
some sort of role either as a full, back either
as another tight end to Allow westover to play. Fullback
because to go back to what we're just talking, About
Kyros tong isn't play more on defense? Now, yeah and
does the coaching staff And Mike vrabel's talked about and
needing to manage some older, guys, right not That tong goes,
old but is it, Okay, well we need this guy

(18:54):
now more on, defense so we're not going to have
him at fullback as. Much so Now Jack western goes
back to being a full time full back Of Austin
hooper is still banged, up or even if he's, NOT i,
Mean dupre's a blocking tight, end does that create more
of an opportunity for Him? SWINSON i JUST i wonder
if he's gonna be, ACTIVE i mean, too you, know
and if he does, play it's probably just on special
teams because Old Jah ponder is playing in a bigger

(19:15):
role since the trade A Keon. White he actually hasn't been.
Bad he's Got saxon back to back weeks, now and
then they still Have Caleb murphy who really is only
playing on special. Teams so you figure if they Like
swinson they would have added him to the roster instead
of Claiming murphy off waivers a couple of weeks. AGO
i don't Think murphy's done anything like lose, ground, right
so he's probably behind those. Guys that one feels like

(19:36):
more of a long, term long term. Play BUT i
maybe Du pre plays a little, bit you, know he
could be inactive, Too BUT i do think there's like
a path to where he's contributing a little bit on,
offense goal line things like.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
That it'd be interesting to see what they do With
tonga because he played eight snaps on offense In, tampa
big part of the game plan having him in, there
and then the following week against The, jets i'llbe, it
on a short, week he only played one snap on
offense with The Milton williams injury mixed in, There so
how much do they balance. THAT i still think The
tonga thing is probably not hugely, impacted just BECAUSE i

(20:10):
think it's it's a very.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Game situation specific.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
Package, like, yeah if you're in a ton of third
and ones like they were Against, tampa where they were
in short yardage a, lot goal lined a, lot.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Then maybe he plays a little bit.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
More but then against The, jets they weren't in that
as much and they only only played one. Snap SO
i don't think that that package was ever meant for
him to play twenty snaps of, offense, Right, like that
was always going to be a very specialized, thing but
at the same, time it could have a trickle down
effect on. That so that was some of The patriots.
NEWS i will talk About chase here in a little

(20:48):
bit when we get to the to The. Bengals obviously
him being out is a big part of this game coming,
up but that's A i wanted to start with The
patriots news a couple of lingering. Thoughts now in This jets,
Game let's start With Drake may BECAUSE i just wanted
to go over since we had this little extra time
without you, know doing a whole autopsy of this. Game

(21:11):
this to me and to my you, know my film,
study my grading on this, GAME i hate using, grading
my charting of this. Game i'm like freaking coach my
charting of this. Game this was his best game for
me Since week six In New, orleans just purely off
of you, know what the film looked.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
Like in this, GAME i thought he was outstanding against The.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
JETS i had him for you, know eleven positive, plays
four and a half minus plays six point five. Net
that's his third highest charted game in my eye Since
week six And week two Against. MIAMI i had him
as a plus nine in both those. GAMES i think
that those were his two best. Games miami was probably

(21:55):
his best game of the, year but those were his
two best, games and this one was the, so you,
know really good game for. HIM i thought in this,
one obviously get takes a little bit of a step
back in terms of level of, Competition like he's not
going up Against, Cleveland, Atlanta, tampa you, know those are
better defenses.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Than what The jets put out.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
There BUT i thought stood out to me the most
from this game From Drake may was just how in
control he was in this. Game just really looked like
he was in complete control pre, snap complete control post,
snap made great decisions with the. Football really the minus
plays THAT i had in this game were, throws LIKE
i got The the post To Kyle williams THAT i

(22:39):
was almost intercepted was probably his own only true really negative.
Play that one hung up on him a little. Bit but,
OVERALL i thought that he was great in this. Game
and you start to see again against a Weaker jets,
defense but you start to see him doing some of
the things that the line of scrimmage pre snap that
are telling, You, okay he's starting to really master not

(23:03):
only his own craft and being just extremely talented in
his own, right but now he's really starting to master
the system and, understanding you, know where the pressure points,
are how to move, protection how to change mike, points
how to change, formation you know where the weaknesses are
in the defense when they go, empty like finding your
matchups that sort of.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Thing this is this was like.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
Him putting on a clinic of how to run The
josh McDaniels. Offense it really. Was so it was good
to see that again because he's had some tougher matchups
recently and it's been a little bit more up and
down kind of first, half second half sort of thing for.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Him but in this, Game Drake may was back to absolutely.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
Dealing, yeah and let's kiss from credit to the offensive line.
Too we only got hit four times in this, GAME
i think, that you, know compared TO i think was
sixteen combined all the previous two. Weeks so he was
able to settle in more than he had. Recently and
then once he settled then he got very comfortable and
he was just ripped.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
It, so, Yeah i'm with.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
YOU i thought this was was one of his better.
Games you, know level of competition maybe knocks it down a,
bit but the pocket movement was the big thing for.
Me and he's talked, about or he talked about back
in the summer wanting to stay a thrower when he
scrambles and it's kind of coming waves with him this
year WHERE i feel like he'll be good about it
for a few games and then maybe he gets a little,

(24:23):
comfortable starts let go of the rope a little, bit
he starts leaning on the run. More we talked about
this around The tennessee, game and then either something, happens
he turns the ball, over he takes a big, hit,
something and it kind of just, like was there a, Reminder,
like oh, Yeah and so he had that weird scramble
early in the game where he gets like a couple
of yards and then he turns ninety degrees to the

(24:43):
left and he doesn't even. Slide he just kind of stops,
running which WAS i, mean don't do. That but after,
THAT i wonder if that was one of those reminder
points for him where it's just all, right, nope got
to keep my eyes, up got to look to throw
and there's nothing. There and then the rest that gave
him the things he's doing a maneuver in the, pocket
remain a, thrower the back to back throws to digs
and then the Touchdown henderson examples of. That that was

(25:05):
the most impressive thing to me About drake in this.

Speaker 3 (25:09):
Game, yeah HIS i think that that is probably the
most improved area of his game is his pocket, movement
BECAUSE i think what you, saw and you've seen him
at times this, year but it's been significantly better what
you saw In North carolina than what you saw his
rookie season was almost too much pocket movement where he
would move into. Pressure so instead of just these Subtle

(25:33):
brady esque kind of movements in the pocket where he's
gonna slide a little bit to his left or he's
gonna step through the, pocket he would create pressure by
moving too much in the. Pocket now what they have
him doing is understanding like that you can just subtly
move around the, pocket you, know two three steps this,
way two to three steps, up whatever the case may,
be and keep your eyes down the field and remain a,

(25:55):
thrower as you, said and then push the ball down
the field once you find that clean. Air he has
gotten significantly better at. That he's gotten significantly better at
protecting the ball while he's sliding and while he's moving
in the. Pocket you can see him out there with
the two hands on the football to swing, throughs you,
know protecting the. Football those elements of his game have

(26:15):
improved leaps and. BOUNDS i kind of thought that he
had a lot of the other stuff going as a,
rookie maybe not as consistently as he's done it this,
year but you saw, flashes of, course of like the
downfield ball placement and like all that kind of, stuff
even At North. Carolina but the pocket, mechanics his, footwork

(26:35):
his ability to move the, pocket his ability to keep
himself protected and not create. Pressure those are all like
the sort of minutias or the details THAT i think
have really taken the next step this year compared to
last year and have made him a much more dangerous
and just more difficult quarterback to, defend because you get

(26:56):
guys that can move off the spot like that and
then keep their eye downfield and make throws after they.
Move that's the worst thing in the world for a,
defense is you, Know, okay we think we have him
dead to, rights he gets out and now all of
a sudden he's throwing the ball and not just taking
like a six or eight yard. Scramble now it's a

(27:16):
twenty yard play down the field as a. Thrower SO
i thought he was terrific in this, game AND i
fully expect him to be terrific again On sunday against
a very Bad bengals. Defense it might be his statistical
best game of his career coming up On. Sunday if
if he plays like he did against The.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Jets and he's almost had that three hundred yard, game
he probably. Should it was a great play From Brandon
stevens is all? That, yeah all that stopped it because
that was a dime to.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Maccollins yeah it. Was and you, KNOW i THINK i
just think that, this if this is how he's going
to play against this level of, competition then they're going
to clean up in these types of, games, right you,
know they're not going to lose types of, games you,
know against The, jets The, giants The bay The, dolphins The. Jets,

(28:02):
Again like that's to, me If Drake may plays this,
way you can you can put four wins in the
win column for The patriots in those, games like they're
not losing with him playing quarterback like.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
This so that was really good to.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
See not THAT i thought that he was, bad and
you know The, Browns falcons and And bucks games certainly
not The buck. SKAMING i thought it was really good
In Tampa. Bay but this was just in terms of you,
know the lack of negative plays especially was was just
really in total command and dominated.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
Kind but to be, fair The jets have not forced
a turnover On american soil yet this.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
Year, yeah, no The jets defense.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
Bad but with you're going up against bad, defenses you
make them look, bad you know.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
That that's good.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
News that's what you want to. See now on the
other side of the. Ball you, know one of the
things that has been sort of bugging me all, season
it's lingering for me after this. GAME i still just
don't love how they're playing, defensively and maybe this is
a me thing AND i just have to get over.
It like they're not going to play man coverage like

(29:05):
they did With. Bill maybe they will, eventually you Know Bill.
Belichick you, know maybe they will. Eventually but to his,
credit you, Know belichick was one of the best man.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
Coverage schemers of his.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
Time You, know he was a guy that really understood
how to, leverage how to create, help how to maintain
numbers in coverage while getting pressure with man.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
Coverage he was one of the best at.

Speaker 3 (29:31):
It and not all coaching staffs and not all teams
are going to be as good at it as The
patriots were with you, Know gilmore And revis and you,
know when they were in their prime with the man coverage.
Stuff SO i get, that BUT i still, have you,
know hesitations about how they've done, that AND i also
think that it's worth bringing.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
Up AND i, KNOW i kind of hear What.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
Rabel says about it when he says that it's easy
to point to with the opening, drives and there's an
element of it that he's right, about of course that
if they play great defense after the opening, drive then
who really? Cares, Right so you're gonna give up seven,
Points you're gonna give up was it, fourteen you know
against The jets or thirteen or whatever it. Was but
at the same, time you, know JUST i think it

(30:13):
goes hand in hand in terms of their plans going
into these. Games you, know their game planning. Ability the
opening drive is all about script. Right it's literally your
scripted plays in your game plan all week long against
their scripted plays and their game plan all week. Wrong
so that's that's, coaching, Right that points to. Coaching, Now

(30:35):
i'll hear the argument that they're playing a little bit
possib with. This maybe they are kind of going out
there and, saying let's just see what the other team,
does let's see what their plan is against. Us will
make a few, adjustments and we'll lock it. Down totally.
Possible but just to read off the, stats just to
for full disclosure, here in eleven games this, season they've
given up eight scoring drives on the opening. Drive it's

(30:57):
tied for most in THE, nfl eight out of eleven.
Teams and it's doesn't matter if you're The jets or
you're the two thousand and Seven, patriots and they're giving
it up eight out of.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
The like it's the only ones they haven't are The, Dolphins,
bills And.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
Falcony and The bills fumbled on their opening, drive WHICH
i was kind of more of like a self inflicted
wound than it really was you stopping. Them they've given
up six touchdowns on opening, drives so six out of
eleven have been.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
Touchdowns two of them have been field.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
Goals and to get to that eight, number that's tied
for the second most in THE, nfl AND i believe
it's only one off the. LEAD i think the Leaders
tennessee maybe with, seven so we're not too.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
Far is not a good football, Team so.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
These opening drives is just a weird. THING i kind
of liked To Robert spulane's answer about it after the.
Game you, know he kind of got out in front
of it and was, LIKE i, KNOW i know the opening,
drives LIKE i, know but at the same, time it
continues to. Happen and there's a couple of other little things,
that you, know just looking at the way that they
game plan teams THAT i think come back to the opening,

(32:06):
drives Where i'm just, like you, know these are the
things THAT i would like to see them get better
at as a staff and get better at as. Defense
i'll get to some of the other scheme, stuff but
just let's stick with the opening drives here for a,
second just to be a little bit. Organized you knew
coming into this game that The jets were going to
just run justin fields like you knew that that's what
they were gonna. Do it was gonna be read, option

(32:27):
it was going to be you, KNOW, rpo it was
gonna be scrambles on third downs like that was going
to be the game.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
Plan you knew.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
It you knew that they were going to take the
opening drive and they were going to run ten zone
reads and try to march right down the field running the,
football and that's exactly what they.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
Did that's exactly what they.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
Did, now The jets are maybe not in a position
to keep pressing that button for four straight quarters because
they get behind and then they have to, throw and
then the problems start to persist for. Them but when
you get into these, bigger more high stakes games and
you play The, bills which when you Play baltimore With
Lamar jackson EVEN i would say to a lesser, degree

(33:05):
but you, know The colts With Daniel jones could do
some of this stuff. Too he's not a non zero,
runner you, know he can run around a little. Bit of,
Course Jonathan taylor is there as. Well this is something
that if they don't sort of figure out what to
do with this in terms of the opening, drives THAT
i do think is indicative of maybe how they are

(33:27):
chess matching. Opponents you, know like these opponents have a
book on them on what to do on these opening,
scripts and The patriots so far have not had any
answers in that.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
Well but it feels like it's been something different every.
Time it's not, like, oh they keep getting beat on this.
Concept or they keep getting beat by this or. That
like the THING i noticed on the first drive against The,
jets and credit goes to The jets offensive line. HERE i,
mean they were not just winning at the line of.
Scribbage they were getting The patriots defensive linemen on the.
Ground and then once they get him on the, ground

(33:56):
you see lineman do just like, you stay on top
of them so they can't get back. Up so there's
all this room For Justin fields And Breese hall to
cut back because the defender's just not in. Play he's
been taking OUT i haven't really seen anybody do that
to The patriots defense this. Year they didn't really do
it to him for the rest of the, game but
it was just they came out The jets, defense offensive

(34:18):
line came out with more. Energy so that's what's so
weird about it to, Me, like, yeah there's other teams
that are gonna be able to run on, them but it's.
Not you, Know tampa kind of threw their way down
the field on that opening drive and you go back To,
cleveland it was just it was a little bit of a,
mix but it was the tight ends that killed. Them
and it's it's been something different every, time WHICH i
wonder is is that why they're having so much trouble

(34:41):
figuring out because it's not like one thing that you,
say we're going to fix this and it's, fixed or
maybe they fixed one thing and then another issue opens,
up but it's. Not the scoring on the opening drive
is a consistent issue. Obviously, yeah why the other team is,
scoring what they are doing to, score the concepts that they're.
Using it doesn't necessarily carry over week to. Week it's
kind of been different.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
Things, yeah that's a great, Point BUT i think the
the part that troubles, ME i guess a little bit
about it because to that point is that it's always
the thing that you know that the other team is
going to do. Well that's a good, point you, Know
like it's justin fields with the read, Options like you
knew that that was going to be what The jets
we're going to try to. Do The browns throw into
their tight ends on The patriots safeties and. Linebackers you

(35:23):
knew That Harold fannin And david And joku were going
to be a huge part of The browns game. Plan like,
that you kind of knew all these different. Things the
other thing that was a little bit so ice game
was they gave up four third down.

Speaker 1 (35:35):
Conversions, well so they were went four for four on
third down on the opening drive The jets they were
four for ten from. There, yeah, so and the paper
has been one of the best third down defense in THE.
Nfl is it just an energy? Thing, Yeah and we
talked about that early in the, season and maybe we
come back to. It is it just an energy.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
Thing, yeah it's a good point now in terms of
the chess match and some of the schematic, THINGS i
just continued to be small seat concerned about how they're
matching up in man coverage and in this. Game if
The jets had better, players, frankly THEN i think some

(36:12):
of the things The patriots did defensively in the secondary
would have given would have made this a. Game and
The jets just had Eighty mitchell dropping passes left and
right And Justin field's getting, benched you, know throwing the football,
right and it just. Didn't, Now i'll give him. This
it was A thursday night, game it was a short.
Week is a division game on a short, week just

(36:33):
get out of there with a. Win and it was
a take care of business. Night it Wasn't, wow look
at this masterful game plan By Zach Korr Mike Rabel.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
Knight, no it's A thursday night. Game it's a get you, know, survived,
advanced get through, It thursday Night divisional game.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
Two that being, SAID i think that this continues to
be something That i've talked about multiple times on the,
show so specifically to This jets, Game Christian. Gonzalez they.
Played The jets played a lot of three by, one
so three receivers to the, quarterbacks one side to the,
quarterback and one receiver to the backside of the, formation
and The patriots just played sides with their. Corners they

(37:10):
didn't shadow the, corners they didn't move the corners or
travel the, corners.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
So they just played.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
Sides so, eventually what The jets noticed is that they're playing,
sides they're not Moving Christian gonzales off the. Boundary so
what they did was they took their tight, End Mason,
taylor and they made him the one receiver on the
backside of the.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Formation so what does that.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Do it creates a situation Where Christian gonzalez is covering
the tight end right and then inside the formation and
the three by one side it's a safety On John
metchi most of the, time so their slot receiver is
getting matched up On Craig woodson Or Jalen. HAWKINS i
JUST i don't think that that should be happening right like.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
That you don't want that. Matchup that's a bad.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
Matchup and when you play man to man coverage or
you try to Play manta man, coverage it's all about.
Matchups where are our matchups where you, know in Against,
atlanta it Was atlanta finding ways to Get Drake.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
London On Marcus.

Speaker 3 (38:06):
Jones in this, game it Was John metchi against The patriots.
Safeties they hit a touchdown To mechi this way and
they should have Hit they hit an eighteen yard play
on third down To mechi this, way and they should
have hit another crosser to Eighty, mitchell but he dropped the.
Ball all these are on sat you, know wide receivers on.
Safeties so that that to me is all about going

(38:30):
into the game and understanding. Matchups Like i'll say it
like this week Against, cincinnati IF i was The, BENGALS
i would just play T higgins as a big slot
and say to The, patriots are you going to put
Carlon davis Or Christian gonzales inside or are we gonna
have T higgins Against.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
Marcus jones for four? Quarters because if we, are then
good for. US i mean that that happened a couple
of years. AGO i, mean guys were, hurt they kind
of had. Due it happened a couple years. Ago last
time The bengals were, here and we know how that. Went,
yeah do you think they're still maybe spooked a little
bit after what happened With atlanta And london.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
Spoots in what sense like the motions and all that
kind of.

Speaker 3 (39:04):
STUFF i would chalk this one, maybe BUT i would
chalk this one up to more it was A thursday
night game and we're not gonna. Overcomplicated and then ALSO
i would just, say like The jets don't Have Garrett,
Wilson like they don't have a receiver Where gonzale should
really be. Shadowing but if you're gonna go three by
one like that and they're gonna put the tight end
as the one, receiver to, ME i would just like

(39:26):
to see them be able to have a check or
have an identification where they can, say, well we're gonna
Put gonzales inside over the receiver on the three by
one side instead of having him out on the. BOUNDARY
i think the biggest difference is is that it kind
of gives away if it's manner, Zone like If gonzalez
is going to play inside the slot and he's gonna

(39:47):
consistently line up, there it kind of tips off to
the defense that it's man to man coverage because he
probably isn't going to drop into zone from that. Spot
so that's an element of, IT i. Think but the teams,
consistently still in my, mind are getting favorable matchups by
The patriots being kind of these are our outside, corners

(40:09):
these are our inside, corners you, know and we're not
going to move off of, that Right and so at
some point like this, week if they Had, chase which
is WHY i Wanted chase to play BECAUSE i just
was excited to see how they would match. Up but
even this week with T, higgins T higgins does play
a little bit out of the, slot and they have
used him as like a big slot in the. Past

(40:30):
yoshivas is a big slot. Receiver, yeah he's not a
jitterbug slot. Receiver he's a bigger. Guy so are you
going to just stick to your? Structure Where Marcus jones
is your nickel and these are your outside corners and
that's just the way it. Is, well If i'm The,
Bengals i'm gonna put my six foot five receiver in
T higgins and my six foot three receiver In yoshivas

(40:53):
Against Marcus jones and your, safeties And i'm gonna take my, chances,
Right so you, GOT i think they have to button
that up if they're gonna play more man. COVERAGE i
know everybody's, asking, like why aren't they playing more man to?
Man you, know they're around like tenth or eleventh in
the league now and, man so it has gone up
a little, Bit but, like why aren't they more of
like you know that cat coverage that Very able talked

(41:14):
about at the beginning when they Signed Carlton. DAVIS i
think the biggest reason why is because they're giving up
a lot of yards in, man and a lot of
it is because of the. Matchups so when they were
at their peak and they were cooking in man, Coverage
belichick was the best at, understanding you, know we're gonna

(41:36):
we're gonna Have Stefan gilmour travel this week With Amari
cooper and if he's in the.

Speaker 2 (41:40):
Slot that's we're okay with.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
That we're gonna Have gilmore play in the, slot right
because that's their best, receiver or you, know in a
week like, this you, know this is more like The
revus Era, patriots but they used to do this a
ton where they would double the number one receiver with
their number two corner and then put revs on the
number two. Receiver so maybe this week It Carlton davis
would help on T higgins and Then gilmour On yoshivas

(42:05):
in the, slot, right like something like, That AND i
just that was What i'm still waiting to see them do,
routinely like going to a game Where gonzales shadows the
other team's best receiver shadows a receiver like eighty five
to ninety percent of the time instead of just like
sixty percent of the, time which is what it was

(42:25):
With Drake.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
London SO i still think that that's a.

Speaker 3 (42:28):
Concern the other kind of small casique concern THAT i,
had AND i thought it it was kind of. FUNNY
i was going to bring this up, anyways and Then
Dan orlovsky HAD i think they were doing a segment
on like all the team's fatal. Flaws, yeah in the playoff.
Picture his fatal flaw for The patriots was that they
were playing too much nickel. Defense so The patriots right

(42:51):
now are top five in the league and nickel defense.
Rate and he thought his takeaway was if a team Like,
baltimore if a team like The Indianapolis, colts if one
of those teams comes in here and just runs the
football consistently against The, patriots and The patriots are gonna
have a tough time stopping to run out of. NICKEL

(43:11):
i respect a, ton dan a. TON i think it's
the total. OPPOSITE i think it's the absolute total. Opposite
If i'm The patriots And I'm Mike rabel And indianapolis
wants to come in here and try to beat us
running the ball forty, TIMES i, say go right, ahead
please go, ahead do, it do.

Speaker 2 (43:29):
IT i dare. You so they're not.

Speaker 1 (43:31):
Stopping they're stopping to run for nickel in the regular,
season which means they won't be able to do it
in the. Playoffs If i'm to Understand, danier.

Speaker 3 (43:40):
Well SO i get what he's, saying because it's all
about bodies on, bodies, Right you're talking about body types
and he's looking at The patriots defense and he's Seeing
Marcus jones at five foot eight, too you, know one
hundred and eighty pounds playing the, nickel and he's, saying,
well If I'm, Indianapolis i'm going two tight ends And
i'm Getting.

Speaker 2 (43:57):
Tyler warren on the, nickel and we're gonna be able
to move the.

Speaker 3 (43:59):
Ball but the thing is is That patriots aren't giving
up a lot of yards in nickel against the. Run
they're like middle of the, pack but it's good enough
that they've been able to stay in nickel because they
don't get burned by. It so they're giving up around
FOUR i think it's like three point nine or four
yards to carry out of nickel so far this, season
which is like twelfth or thirteenth in the. League but to,

(44:20):
me the thing that's more concerning would be a team
that comes in here and says we're gonna throw the
ball fifty. Times. Right so that's Where i'm at with this.
DEFENSE i think their coverage is much more concerning than
their run, defense and the statistics backed that. Up BUT
i also just feel that way even against better, competition
their early down pass defense is twenty fourth in the

(44:40):
league AND. Epa so if you're gonna come in here
and beat The patriots in a playoff, game it's gonna
be aggressive first and second down pass. Defense like we're
not even gonna play third. Down we're just gonna throw
the ball on first down and we're gonna avoid third down.
Altogether if they come in here and try to run
the ball forty times against The, PATRIOTS i love. That
to score twenty points doing that And Drake may is

(45:03):
going to score twenty one and The patriots are going
to advance like, That that is totally fine by, me,
right if you're gonna run the. Football BUT i think
the interesting part about it, is you, know their pass
defense is something that continues to be a concerned to.
Me you, know overall their thirteenth and PASS epa their
twentieth and success, Rate but that doesn't adjust for the
level of competition that they've faced. Either they're twenty eighth

(45:25):
in the league IN dva against the, pass which does
adjest for the schedule and for the level of, competition
they're twenty fourth and early down PASS. Epa that to
me is that's the fatal flaw to the, defense is
if you can throw on first and second down consistently against,
Them they're giving.

Speaker 2 (45:40):
Up a lot of yards and a lot of.

Speaker 1 (45:41):
Plays we've also seen them some of. That how much
of that is because they're just playing some of this
like off loose coverage in those, situations which in big
games they've gone away. From like Against buffalo they didn't
really do. That SO i don't. Know Maybe i'm just maybe,
like what are the odds that we get to the
playoffs and suddenly that that off coverage isn't there?

Speaker 3 (46:02):
ANYMORE i would. Hope so they played like forty percent
man coverage Against. Buffalo BUT i think the thing about
What i'm talking like the way that they approach, it,
THOUGH i think is like about how much do they
fear the receivers on the other, Team BECAUSE i think
they went into The buffalo game thinking their receivers were
kind of, trash, right and they were right about, that

(46:22):
and they kind Of that's played out over the course
of eleven weeks For buffalo for the most, part they've
had a lot of trouble with the receiver. Separation so
we talk a lot about zone versus, man like man
is about your. Personnel it's it's one on one, like
can you beat the opponent's personnel in? Man do you
have better receivers than they have defensive? Backs that? Day

(46:42):
zone is, scheme it's, instincts it's. Iq it's more of
like a thinking man's. Game when you get a lot
of zone. Coverage man to man is simply just do
we have better guys than?

Speaker 1 (46:52):
You but even within, that like they've played off at,
times and they've played up at the line at, times
AND i would just like seeing them play a little more,
aggressive whether it's in man or zone own and not
give these big, cushions which again they did Against. Buffalo
do they bring that back at some point because a
lot of that you're talking about that first and second
down passing, Production, yep how much of that is they're
playing nine yards off in first and ten and allows

(47:13):
seven yard.

Speaker 3 (47:13):
Completion, yeah, no that that's Definitely i'm sure part of. It,
now that's a successful. Play it's a successful.

Speaker 1 (47:18):
Play but isn't that kind of by design for the
defense like this bend don't break.

Speaker 2 (47:21):
THING i would assume.

Speaker 3 (47:23):
So but the question is is like when you play
a quarterback in the, playoffs, who, yeah you know a
good quarterback and not Bon. Nicks, Sorry i'm taking subtle
shots at Bon. NIX i have, to.

Speaker 2 (47:34):
But Not Daniel jones necessarily doesn't concern me this. Way
but this is.

Speaker 3 (47:39):
Why AND i know that you KNOW i made SOME
i ruffled some feathers with this take, yesterday So i'll
get your take on it as we segue into kind
of talking about the WHOLE. AFC i said yesterday That
i'd rather Play denver Than Kansas, city and everybody like
kind of jumped down my throat about. It the reason
Why i'd rather Play denver Than Kansas city is BECAUSE
i don't think That Boone nicks can beat you throwing

(48:01):
the ball fifty.

Speaker 1 (48:02):
Times so.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
WHERE i don't.

Speaker 3 (48:06):
CARE i don't know why everybody's so spooked by playing In.
DENVER i don't want to go To. DENVER i still
think big, pictures like twenty years ago The patriots lost
a playoff game In.

Speaker 2 (48:16):
Denver EVERYBODY'S i don't want to.

Speaker 1 (48:18):
Play historic weird things have happened In. Denver everybody knows that, weird.

Speaker 2 (48:22):
Weird's happened In. DENVER i keep GETTING i keep.

Speaker 3 (48:24):
Here i'm, sorry LIKE i didn't realize, that Like Drake
may And Mike rabel had weird things to happen In.

Speaker 1 (48:30):
DENVER i don't want to Play Kansas. City i'm with.
YOU i simply don't want to Play Kansas. City you
don't like that. Team you never, know they can flip a.
Switch don't want to deal with it wherever here or.
There Wherever, denver if they're coming, here, Yeah i'll Play denver.
Here it's a young. Team they haven't like how many
of these guys have experienced playing at.

Speaker 3 (48:51):
Altitude that is a.

Speaker 1 (48:52):
Fact they've been better on the road than that. Home,
Okay denver's. Different denver's. Different it's not just playing on the.
Road there's other fact is. There And i'm not saying
that it's gonna be some. Colace they played on the
Road Miami, tampa like these are fifty to fifty. Crowds
that that, crowd.

Speaker 2 (49:08):
Well they never won In miami until they won in My.

Speaker 1 (49:10):
Okay that crowd was a. Difference, LOOK i we talked
about the other. Week i'd rather go To indye Than.
Denver is that?

Speaker 3 (49:18):
Not?

Speaker 1 (49:18):
Like, yeah if they have to go To i'm not
saying they can't win In, denver BUT i. WOULD i
would rather play In indy Than. Denver but, Yeah i'd
rather Play indy Or denver wherever than The. Chiefs the
teams that are lurking are The chiefs and The. Ravens
you want them, out you want them. Missing if you're The,
patriots you don't want them getting in the, playoffs both
of them. Missing it's probably highly unlikely one of them.

(49:42):
Missing it's on the. TABLE i don't think you know The.
Chiefs they're five and, Five they've got a tough schedule coming.
Up they're gonna have to FLIP i talked about them
flipping the. Switch they're gonna have to flip the.

Speaker 3 (49:51):
Switch.

Speaker 1 (49:51):
Now the thing, is if they do get, in they're
getting in red. Hot and do you want to play
A chiefs team that suddenly has? Momentum So i'm with.
YOU i don't want to play Kans.

Speaker 3 (50:00):
City YEAH i.

Speaker 1 (50:00):
DIDN'T i don't think it's TAKE i don't want to
Play Kansas. CITY i don't think if you have to
go To, DENVER i just don't think that's some like.

Speaker 2 (50:08):
Cakewalk OH i never said. IT i never said it.

Speaker 1 (50:11):
Was but if you're gonna make me, choose, Yeah i'd
rather go To denver than go To Kansas.

Speaker 3 (50:16):
City my whole point about it is just looking at,
this it's a styles wins fights kind of.

Speaker 2 (50:21):
Thing that's what the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (50:23):
Is it's one game and, Out so it's a style
wins fight kind of, thing like what is the? Matchup
AND i look at The patriots AND i look at
their vulnerabilities and if you're going to be in a
game against, It AND i would say The colts, too
Because I'M i know they're the number one offense and.
Everything Daniel jones having, This Sam, darnold you Know renaissance

(50:45):
SEASON i or you, know reclamation, season whatever you want
to call.

Speaker 2 (50:48):
IT i get. That but the way That.

Speaker 3 (50:51):
Denver In indianapolis win at this rate is complimentary. Football
it's good, defense it's good run, game it's good support
for the. Quarterback and, ultimately when it comes down to,
IT i think more times than not in the, playoffs
it's really passing game verus passing. Game it's which quarterback

(51:11):
plays better that, day which passing game plays better that.
Day and If i'm looking at the way That patriots,
lose that's the way to me The patriots lose is
not necessarily That drake may gets, outdueled but that their
defense can't.

Speaker 1 (51:23):
Stop the other, well but some of it is also
where like this is where the location. Matters you, say
it's passing game verus passing. Game if you're In denver
or it's here Or Kansas, city, cold, snow freezing, rain
wind like. Those you can't just rely on your pass
game in the playoffs in some of.

Speaker 3 (51:42):
These, yeah but everybody's going to be playing in the same, elements.
Right but like my point is is JUST i think
the way that The patriots get tripped up in the,
playoffs the way that they're built right. Now is WHAT
i keep saying is if a team is able to
throw the ball forty five to fifty times against them
and is really good at throwing the ball that, day
they're gonna. Lose, yeah that's the WAY i look at,

(52:03):
it because.

Speaker 1 (52:04):
Then you would rather Play denver Than. Indy, YES i
will SEE i disagree with.

Speaker 4 (52:10):
That.

Speaker 3 (52:11):
NOW i would still take The patriots in a game
again and Against indy, too here or.

Speaker 1 (52:14):
THERE I i'd rather Play indy here or. There i'm with.

Speaker 4 (52:17):
YOU i.

Speaker 1 (52:20):
Defense defense carries in the, playoffs and.

Speaker 2 (52:24):
They have a great. Defense they have a Great denver.

Speaker 1 (52:26):
Defense like in The colts. Defense by the way is not.
Bad middle of the.

Speaker 3 (52:29):
Pack it's.

Speaker 1 (52:29):
Fine, yeah a little, more you, know somewhere ten to,
fifteen somewhere in that. RANGE i guess that's middle of the.
Pack The denver like a good, defense would be a
real threat in to, play especially when you get outside,
again Like i'm gonna bring up The Elements. League i'd
rather play The colts here or. There, yeah, NO i
don't agree.

Speaker 5 (52:45):
THAT i.

Speaker 1 (52:45):
Don't we talked about, this Like drake may in a.
DOME i feel pretty good about that Against Daniel. JONES
i don't want to go To. DENVER i don't want
to Play Kansas city Or. Baltimore but if you're gonna
make me Choose Kansas city Or, DENVER i i'd rather
play The. Broncos BUT i do not feel. GOOD i,
Mean i'm not say it's a game they can't, win
BUT i don't FEEL i don't feel great about having
to go To. DENVER i certainly. Don't that's you, know
to add to, it talk about rooting interests For patriots

(53:08):
fans down. Stretch let's say The patriots don't get the one,
seed you're rooting for The. Colts if Your patriots fan
over The. Broncos you're absolutely rooting for The colts to
get that over The.

Speaker 3 (53:16):
Broncos, YEAH i just don't know IF i if you're a,
team AND i don't think That.

Speaker 2 (53:22):
Denver denver's.

Speaker 3 (53:23):
Weird like their offense is terrible for three quarters and
then is great in the fourth quarter every, week and
that's just their formula right. Now, Yeah and the numbers
back that, up like IT'S i looked this up last
night that Bo knicks is like twenty sixth in the
league AND epa in the first three quarters and then
like seventh in the league in the fourth. Quarter it's really.
Bizarre there are. Splits but BECAUSE i only wins if

(53:45):
they can run the. Ball, yeah, right that that's their.
FORMULA i would say the same thing About jacksonville Because
jacksonville's relevant just they might.

Speaker 1 (53:52):
Play JACKSON i mean they're in the playoffs right. Now
sit here To jacksonville only wins the wins when they
run the. Ball, indye everything About india is off their run.
Game it's All Jonathan taylor is the engine of that.
Offense and then they scheme up easy kind of layup
thros For Daniel jones off Of Jonathan taylor in the
run game, Again, like do you really think that Bo

(54:12):
nicks could go against The patriots and shred The patriots pass?
Defense so actually really make that weakness a. Weakness, here
here's WHY i Think denver is so much better late
in games because they the way they play these, games
it's their. Defense all these games are, close there's pressure
on the other. Team he kind of knows he just
has to make one or two. PLAYS i think he
handles the pressure. WELE i think making sixty starts in

(54:34):
college serves him. Well but The patriots may be able
to stress That denver defense more in other teams and
put it more on Bo nix's.

Speaker 2 (54:41):
PLATE i would just dare.

Speaker 3 (54:42):
IT i would take my Chances darren Bow knicks to
beat me in the playoff.

Speaker 1 (54:46):
Game compared To Patrick.

Speaker 3 (54:47):
Mahomes you're, saying, YEAH i mean, Yeah, Okay well THAT
i was told THAT i was crazy for having this
opinion the.

Speaker 1 (54:53):
Record, well and here's the, Thing.

Speaker 3 (54:55):
And that's WHY i don't Want. MAHOMES i don't Want.
LAMAR i would, SAY i know they're falling, apart like The.
CHARGERS i don't want any of the good. Quarterback, yeah
The chargers are gonna have to come. HERE i don't
WANT i would take The. Patriots we've seen.

Speaker 1 (55:09):
What happens when The chargers come, here and the call
that one doesn't.

Speaker 2 (55:12):
Scare me so.

Speaker 3 (55:12):
Much any of the good quarterbacks BECAUSE i think the
only that is the biggest weakness on this team is
The patriots pass, defense AND i don't want any of
those good quarterbacks here.

Speaker 1 (55:21):
Here here's the weird thing about The chiefs to, Me
and this is why IF i had guess why some
people maybe reacted to your take a certain. Way they
look at A chiefs team right, now that's five and.
Five they haven't scored more than thirty points in a,
game and how long has it been a? Minute and
so they see that and they, say, well this isn't
the same Ould. Chiefs The chiefs, Suck they're not what they.

(55:43):
Were so get them in the playoffs and you get
a weekend version of that. Team if The chiefs really are,
that they're not going to make the. Playoffs and it
won't be an issue if The chiefs get in the
playoffs because of where they are right, now five and,
five the nine seed in THE. AFC i almost send
The east in THE. Afc, well then they started playing,
better and then they clearly are close to the team

(56:04):
they've been the last. Year so, yeah, ideally, YES i
would love to play a Bad chiefs team in the.
Playoffs that'd be great because they're a bad. Team that's
an important. Qualifier if The chiefs getting the, playoffs they're
not going to be the bad version of themselves to
win games, here to get pay down the, stretch they
had to make a, run, right, question are the twenty Eighteen?
Patriots are they twenty Nineteen? Patriots but even if it's

(56:26):
like they're.

Speaker 2 (56:26):
The Nineteen patriots are undefeated at this.

Speaker 1 (56:28):
Nineteen is probably a bad. Example, now are they.

Speaker 2 (56:30):
Like the two thousand and Nine?

Speaker 1 (56:31):
Patriots are they the team that just falls off at the?
End if they're bad enough That i'm comfortable playing. Them
by this, way if The chiefs are playing bad enough
football at the end of the year That i'd be
comfortable playing. Them odds are there not in the playoffs
to begin?

Speaker 3 (56:42):
With, yeah all, right we have some more takes about
THIS afc playoff. PICTURE i want to talk a little
bit more about some of these, games but we have
to take a quick break and we'll be right.

(01:00:12):
a few other things about these games this. Weekend it
was fun to watch some of this other football this.
WEEKEND i just have to vent about. THIS i Thought
Tampa bay The bills were who we thought they, were
and they let them off the. Hook.

Speaker 2 (01:00:26):
Me, yeah The bucks just it was.

Speaker 3 (01:00:30):
Painful three different Times Todd bowles went against the math
and punted the football back To, buffalo, win against common,
sense and and got burned all three. TIMES i felt
myself sitting there watching this game with The bucks and
just thankful that The patriots Have Mike rabel And stretch
running the show on these, decisions because The patriots would

(01:00:53):
never have punted the ball back on fourth and. Two
The Josh allen in a five point game midway through
the fourth.

Speaker 1 (01:00:59):
Quarter enough to remember when you were worried about the
dinosaur hardow football.

Speaker 3 (01:01:03):
COUCH i, know, WELL i didn't really know too much
About John striker at.

Speaker 1 (01:01:06):
That we're not familiar with his.

Speaker 2 (01:01:07):
GAME i wasn't. Familiar you can't quit Strike you.

Speaker 1 (01:01:10):
Just can't Have Josh allen throwing chest passes out of
his own end zone and let The bills beat.

Speaker 3 (01:01:13):
You so they punted the ball back uh To buffalo with.
UH i think it was like six or seven minutes
left fourth and. Two yeah From mike about their Forty
So i'll give just behind.

Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
Midfield, yeah like they were on their their side of the.
Field i'll give him. That but they punned the ball
back To Josh.

Speaker 3 (01:01:30):
Allen their defense hasn't Stopped Josh allen basically all day
except for the second. Half, again stopped him the second,
half and He Josh allen takes the, ball he goes eight,
plays seventy five, yards, touchdown game over warm up the
buzsts and like thanks for, Coming Todd. Bowles SO i was,
obviously like Every patriots fan probably rooting really hard for

(01:01:51):
The bucks to win that game against The. Bills AND
i thought The bucks kind of gave that game. AWAY
i thought they.

Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
Had at Y, YEAH i, mean they were the better
team for most of that, game you, Know but, also
what does it say about where The bills are as a.
Whole Josh allen had to count for six touchdowns basically by,
himself and they still barely beat A tampa team that
was trying to hand them the.

Speaker 3 (01:02:14):
Game, yeah, LIKE i, don't.

Speaker 2 (01:02:16):
Well, there The bills defense has.

Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
Issues, No that's What i'm, Saying, like you come out
of that if Your bills, fay you feel. Good, Look
Josh allen played horribly the first quarter and then was.
Awesome credit where credits? Do how do you feel about
the rest of the Roster guy's not Named Josh? Allen
after that?

Speaker 3 (01:02:32):
Game not. GREAT i didn't think they ran the ball
particularly well, either outside of The Josh allen, Runs LIKE
i got.

Speaker 2 (01:02:40):
That The, bills, no they're.

Speaker 1 (01:02:41):
There their handoff run game has not been as good
the last couple of. WEEKS i think the one GUY
i do cut That Tyrrel shaver's guy's not. Bad, yeah
he gets, open he's got some. Size he's like.

Speaker 3 (01:02:52):
Now they were playing Without, Kincaid WHO'S i think not
gonna Play tomorrow Night thursday night for them. Either, yeah
so he's dealing with an. Injury that The bill's, defense
their run, defense and their coverage on running. BACKS i,
mean your, Boy Sean tucker had the game of his.
Life Sean tucker is a good back, man trying to
tell you might be. Good he had the game of his, life,

(01:03:12):
though or the breakout game of his, LIFE i should,
say and their interior run defense got treaded by A
chan the week, before it got threaded By tucker this
week That bill's defense has some Problems.

Speaker 1 (01:03:25):
Henderson so, yeah, no, wait, wrong get, sorry never, MIND
i was thinking of The.

Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
Bucks, Well i'm thinking That Travon henderson will do that
to them in week.

Speaker 1 (01:03:33):
Fifteen, yeah, no it'd be. Great, yeah, LOOK i GET
I i'm making Sure i'm saying this so that people
interpret this. Right Josh, allen after two really bad, passes played,
well played really. Well he had a play at a historic.

Speaker 3 (01:03:47):
Level you, know it's big of you that you have
to put the context in, there because not everybody does put,
those you, know his first couple of drives in.

Speaker 1 (01:03:54):
There he had to play at a historic level for.
THEM i know they they they win by. TEN i
think ultimately was a forty four to thirty, four but
there was a late garbage Time Josh allen to give
them a historic. Game for them to barely beat A
tampa team that again was kind of trying to give
the game away doesn't bode well long term because that's

(01:04:15):
not that game's not sustainable That Josh allen.

Speaker 3 (01:04:17):
Had he's not going to do that every. Week so
that's how this has Been buffalo's biggest. Problem AND i
say this as somebody that comes at it and everybody
calls me a Closet bills, fan so like this is
not super, closet, Right so this is coming from a
not A u place of just constant negativity towards The.
Bills the biggest issue for The bills year in and

(01:04:39):
year out is that they Need Josh allen.

Speaker 2 (01:04:43):
To wear The superman cap a little bit too. Much
like they need, Him that's What i'm.

Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
Saying in order to go on the run that they
want to go, on he needs to play like he
did On sunday Against tampa and maybe not score, forty
but he needs.

Speaker 1 (01:04:53):
To play a roll at this defense he.

Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
Might he needs to play a great.

Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
Game, Yeah and when you get into the playoffs and
you play good defenses and you play good, teams it's
hard to string together three four peak games in a.
Row that's not easy to. Do and they have not
been able to lift him up. Enough they're their coaching,
staff their front. Office, uh that fan base is starting

(01:05:20):
to turn not On, allen a little bit On alan. Honestly,
yeah BUT i think they realize that this is systemic
and that this is like bigger Than Josh. Allen, Uh
and they're Not they're not gonna move on From Josh
allen like that this is their quarterback for the next ten,
Years like no one's he wants to move. On they're
McDermott and And Brandon bean are in a little bit of.
Trouble yeah, There AND i know they won the game and.

Speaker 1 (01:05:43):
Fire McDermot two years, Ago but that's the. Thing you
they have these expectations now.

Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
If they lose the division and then losing the wild
card round in the first round and they're a one
and done, TEAM i have a hard time believing that
they survived.

Speaker 4 (01:05:56):
That.

Speaker 1 (01:05:56):
NO i had a hard time believing at the last
two times than they did.

Speaker 3 (01:05:59):
So but they that was. Different they won the division
every time we sat team in the.

Speaker 2 (01:06:03):
League this time is.

Speaker 3 (01:06:05):
Different AND i think that the biggest thing too with
those two guys is they both came From carolina ten
years ago, Together like this is a package, deal, Right
like being Is mcdermot's guy and McDermott's bean's. Guy SO
i don't think you can have one without the. OTHER
i don't think this is gonna be a giant, situation.

Speaker 1 (01:06:22):
But they've both had. Missteps, yeah you, know it's not
like it's. FUNNY i think The giants And dolphins got
their firings. Backwards, yeah The dolphins fired THEIR gm kept
their head coach even though they had some talent on that,
roster they just didn't know how to use. It whereas The,
GIANTS i thought it had a good head, coach but
he had nothing to work with and so they keep

(01:06:44):
the guy that you know moved on From Saquon barkley
only to Pay Sterling. Shepherd and, YEAH i thought that
they got those, backwards but you're, right And buffalo is
probably a full cleaning of the.

Speaker 3 (01:06:53):
House, well, SEE i know we're talking about that after
they won a game but went new clear and that's
how they. Went i'm glad we're talking about it.

Speaker 1 (01:07:02):
Because my whole point about The, bills and this is
why they annoy. Me we treated them so long like
the little engine that, could when they were clearly supposed
to be. More, yeah and now we're you want to
be the you want to be the kings of THE.
Afc this is how we're going to talk about. You
you're gonna get ripped after you win a game because
you went by. Enough happened to The patriots. Plenty so

(01:07:22):
we talked a little bit About Kansas. City denver Already Kansas.

Speaker 3 (01:07:25):
CITY i know right now the hot topic is whether
or Not Kansas city is going to make the. Playoffs
it's legitimate. Conversation you, know they have a tough. Road
their streak of nine straight division titles is definitely. OVER
i know it's it's not technically mathematically over, yet but
it's it's. Over do you?

Speaker 1 (01:07:44):
Know there was one mathematically thing that happened in the
standings this week went very under the. Radar, well The
titans got eliminated from the. Playoffs, officially The.

Speaker 3 (01:07:51):
Jets could get eliminated from the playoffs this. Week Kansas,
city but even the two and nine giants are still.
Alive we talked a little bit About Kansas city And,
Denver baltimore And. CLEVELAND i dot was an interesting. Game
cleveland has zero. Offense, Yeah chador Was chador in the second.
Half you, know you don't expect him to play well
in that, spot but he did not play. Well and

(01:08:14):
The ravens have won four straight, games and so now
they're kind of climbing back into this they're coming back
into THE Afc.

Speaker 1 (01:08:20):
North, well The ravens are, ALSO i, mean The ravens
were weird Because lamar. Was they weren't. Bad they're not
like The texans or The, chiefs who are you, know
who were, losing who were like outright losing. Games they
ain't have their starting quarterback and their backup quarterbacks aren't.
Good so you, know even the bay you, know they're
more like The. Bengals they JUST i don't want to see

(01:08:43):
neither DO. I But lamar threw two picks in this.
Game he was not efficient in this.

Speaker 3 (01:08:50):
Game there's still something weirdly off About like The ravens
are kind of in the similar category As Kansas city
where just and easily that switch cand in two. Seconds,
yeah but for right, now it doesn't feel like it's their.

Speaker 1 (01:09:04):
Year the brown defense is good, though The browns defense
is pretty.

Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
Good it's, good But lamar on When lamar Is, Lamar
lamar is ripping apart The browns, defense especially with the
amount of opportunities he gets because The browns can't score
and can't move the. Ball it was just again Like
baltimore won the. Game they're taking care of. Business they've
won four in a. Row he did not look Like.

(01:09:27):
Lamar he looked a little. RUSTY i.

Speaker 2 (01:09:30):
THOUGHT i still didn't look like it's totally like.

Speaker 1 (01:09:33):
Himself, yeah what do you think of The. JAGUARS i don't.
Know they're kind of. There they're. Fine they don't play.

Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
Consistent i'm not gonna win the, division so that kind Of.

Speaker 1 (01:09:44):
YEAH i can't get worked up out like they're not.
BAD i don't think they're. Bad there's a very good
chance of. There The patriots round certainly not. Good remember
when they played was IT o seven that they played
him here and it was, like, hey The jags are
good again and it was this fun little story and
they blew the doors off.

Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
Them that was definitely during the first part to The.
Dynasty they played them again earlier BECAUSE i was at the,
game it was, like.

Speaker 1 (01:10:06):
Tend To David guard and, yeah it's kind of one
of those teams were, like all, right they have their
weeks and that's nice and they've played kind of an easier.

Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
Schedule, yeah they they run the.

Speaker 1 (01:10:17):
Ball, Well i'm not convinced that you.

Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
Know who running all over the.

Speaker 1 (01:10:22):
Place you know who does actually a TEAM i am
fascinated with at this point is The.

Speaker 3 (01:10:26):
Texans we'll get to them in a second really. Quickly
on The, jaguars BECAUSE i want to just take a
second with The, jaguars because if it were to.

Speaker 1 (01:10:35):
Start, Today, yeah that would be the, matchup that.

Speaker 2 (01:10:37):
Would be the. MATCHUP i know it doesn't but if it.

Speaker 3 (01:10:38):
Would if it, did then it would Be Patriots jaguars
here At gillette In round one of the. Playoffs they
run the ball really, well AND i think one of
the biggest things that has changed for them In jacksonville
is they've stopped trying to Make Trevor lawrence the engine
to the offense and they've kind of turned the offense
over to the running game and then they Sprinkled Trevor
lawrence in. There so now they're team is a lot more.

(01:11:01):
Balanced it's a lot more kind of built Like, indy
where it's good running game, play, action move the pocket scheme,
up you, know easy plays For Trevor lawrence and not
Asked Trevor lawrence to drop back forty five times and
be AN. Mvp and they've been able to do that
now in this game and in every single game. Recently
Justin herbert has just been absolutely under. Siege you, know

(01:11:23):
The colts have had all sorts Of Colts chargers of,
it all sorts of injuries on their offensive. Line they
can't block anybody The. Chargers so they Made Justin herbert
look very ordinary in this. Game BUT i think a
lot of that has to do with The chargers more
than it does.

Speaker 1 (01:11:36):
With jacksonville's Seve West coast Team. East, yep that was
a FACTOR i should have played in. There But jacksonville
can run the football they. Had they play in that
same you, Know Liam cohne did it in In. Tampa
it's it's A West coast.

Speaker 3 (01:11:51):
Offense it's McVeigh shanahan ish and they just play in
that same system where it's like the quarterback is kind
of some, weeks the quarterback just kind of into a
passenger and is just there to hit the right button
on the controller and not screw anything.

Speaker 1 (01:12:05):
Up, YEAH i mean they've also kind of. Struggled you,
Know Brian thomas falling off has hurt them a. LOT
i think they're count him to take a. Jump who's
Hurt hunter drafts. Center so that that was their first
REGULAR i know it's not, hockey but like that was
their first winning regulation since they beat The chiefs In week.
Five they're two and three since that. Game one of

(01:12:27):
those wins was an overtime win Against, vegas which is
not a good. Team so they're just they got a
nice little bump at the beginning of the. SEASON i
feel like they're trending in the wrong direction even with that.
WIN i feel like they're. Trained, look they'll get a
little momentum. Here they're at The, cardinals they're at The
titans the next two. Weeks but they still got to
play The colts. Twice they still got to play The. Broncos,
like we'll see where they end. Up so h you Mentioned, Houston,

(01:12:50):
yeah So. Houston i'm kind of starting to get to
the point too With. Houston i'm, LIKE i don't really
want to See houston in the. Playoffs great, defense it's
a great. Defense great. Defense good teams can win with backup.
QUARTERBACKS i don't mean this AGAINST. Cj, stroud but like
they're two and oh With Davis. Mills, yeah good teams
find ways to win With.

Speaker 2 (01:13:09):
They did be The, titans, okay but.

Speaker 1 (01:13:11):
Good teams find ways to win with backup. Quarterbacks, yeah
it's a good you, know they've got size in their passing,
Game Dalton schultz is very, Involved Nico collins a big.
Receiver Xavier hutchinson's a big. Guy patriots have struggled with,
that you, know with some of these bigger receiver. Corps you,
Know i'd still probably take The patriots against, them especially

(01:13:33):
if it's up, here AND I houston is probably not
winning the. Division but like we talk about the teams
that are figuring it, out the teams we expected to
be better that aren't that are figuring it, Out houston.
Is houston's figuring it out more than Like Kansas city.
IS i would Say houston, is uh has.

Speaker 3 (01:13:48):
It you, know they're not winning as, much but they
have a similar formid To. Denver the, well great, defense
great pass, rush and they get you, know if they get,
clutch you, know timely quarterback play and from their, offense
and they're gonna win.

Speaker 1 (01:14:02):
Games so they were to kind of look at. Recently
so they started. Bad they were bad to start. Season
they started zero to. Three they're five and two since
and their only losses are At, seattle which is a tough. Game,
yeah And seattle's a really good.

Speaker 6 (01:14:18):
Team.

Speaker 1 (01:14:18):
Ye and then they had a three point loss to The. Broncos,
yeah but they. Bleed they've blown doors against pretty much everybody.
Else they're they're trending in the right. Direction they're absolutely
trending in the Right no.

Speaker 3 (01:14:29):
Strat out again On Thursday Night football against The. Bills
it would Be Davis.

Speaker 1 (01:14:32):
Mills it sucks so, That, yeah this will be a
big one for. Them this will be yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:14:36):
If they if they hang With buffalo or Beat, buffalo
then they're all the going in the right.

Speaker 1 (01:14:40):
Direction you're ready for. This their next three games are
gonna find out just how real they. Are the next
three games home Against, buffalo but it's a short, week
then At, indy then At Kansas.

Speaker 2 (01:14:48):
City i'm really interested to see this.

Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
Game, uh you, know even With Davis mills for The,
bills because The bills have not traveled well this.

Speaker 2 (01:14:55):
Year there their offense is not.

Speaker 1 (01:14:57):
Scored have seen the conspiracy theory On twitter that The
bills never play on the.

Speaker 3 (01:15:01):
Road they they they don't travel well on the. Road, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 1 (01:15:05):
No this is this is one of my favorite things
on social media that there's this one guy that constantly
points out like and it does feel like it when
he points it.

Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
Out you see it when they play in big games
in prime, time they're at.

Speaker 1 (01:15:16):
Home when's, like can you think of every time you
See bill's highlights on the, timeline it's at. Home you
never See bill's highlights the road.

Speaker 2 (01:15:23):
BECAUSE i think their biggest games are usually at.

Speaker 1 (01:15:25):
Home that, Well so that's part of, it AND i
think it's a recency bias thing. There they play for
their next five games on the. Road their schedule was
front loaded with home. Games BUT i don't, KNOW i
just get a kick out of, That like there was
a clip of The bills this week and somebody's, like
the guy just pulls like again every single week with.

Speaker 3 (01:15:42):
This SO i think they average something like six points
a game less on the road than they do at.
Home so this will be an interesting game In houston
because that's a great, defense you, know home road, split
it would tell you with that in the great defense
in the short. Week, yeah and it does sound like
No kate again that this would be a game that
would be a little bit of a slog For.

Speaker 1 (01:16:02):
Buffalo it's gonna sound. Crazy who's a bigger loss kN Cater.

Speaker 3 (01:16:04):
Stroud, Stroud But kai's a good player.

Speaker 1 (01:16:08):
Gap closer than maybe people would. Realize, well Because Davis
mills is playing.

Speaker 4 (01:16:11):
Well.

Speaker 1 (01:16:12):
Again it's nothing As, stroud But Davis mills is playing.
Well he's playing all right for a, backup he's playing.

Speaker 3 (01:16:16):
Well, yeah last one here kind of segue into talking
a little bit about The Bengals Pittsburgh. CINCINNATI i still
kind of come away from watching This pittsburgh team and
just think That Aaron rodgers is just kind of bluh
every TIME i watch.

Speaker 1 (01:16:34):
Him he's gonna be playing with a broken wrist now.

Speaker 3 (01:16:36):
Too it just doesn't blow me away when you, know
in this game Against cincinnati in the first, HALF i
didn't think he was great in this, game and the
numbers back it. Up you, know they were much better
in the second half With Mason rudolph than they were
in the first half Of Aaron.

Speaker 2 (01:16:52):
Rodgers he's causing a lot of.

Speaker 3 (01:16:54):
Pressure he's kind of a sitting duck back, there and
he's under siege a lot in some of these. Games
they are like one of those weird offenses, too where
they have guys that have great build up, speed but
outside Of Calvin, austin they don't have a lot of
guys that have instant, speed so like their offense is
kind of slow for ten. Yards, yeah and then Once
Darnell washington AND Dk metcalf get the train roll, in

(01:17:16):
like then there are. Guys those guys can build up
speed and pick up speed down the. FIELD i don't
know what to make Of. Pittsburgh they're The Tomlin steelers
through and. Through they're gonna go like nine and, eight
ten and seven like they do every single. YEAR i
think they're kind of a Paper, Tiger but who the hell.
Knows it just it's the same thing with The steelers
IF i was The steelers, though regardless of This rogers,

(01:17:37):
injury BECAUSE i don't think he was playing particularly great
before the injury. Either you, know you're looking over your
shoulder At baltimore and you're worried That baltimore is coming
for the.

Speaker 1 (01:17:44):
Division how awesome was That Darnel washington catch and? Run?

Speaker 3 (01:17:48):
Though oh that was so?

Speaker 1 (01:17:49):
Cool but, YEAH i love.

Speaker 3 (01:17:51):
That but like it's it's a lot of multiple tight.

Speaker 1 (01:17:54):
Ends, NO i agree with everything you. Said it's a
lot Of.

Speaker 3 (01:17:56):
Metcalf LIKE i just was watching the first half on
film of The Steeler bengals AND i was, like this
is the historically Bad bengals.

Speaker 2 (01:18:03):
Defense everybody keeps telling me about there was nobody.

Speaker 1 (01:18:05):
OPEN i see what The steelers want to. Be they're
not good enough defensive. Lead they basically want to be The. Broncos,
yeah they're not good enough defensively to be that. Team
they turned the ball so season ending knee surgery For MICHAEL.

Speaker 3 (01:18:20):
Pennockx yeah that's. TOUGH i have Some falcons. TAKES i
don't know if we're gonna have time for it, today
but uh the uh, yeah The. STEELERS i don't know
IF i IF i had to pick it right, NOW
i picked The.

Speaker 2 (01:18:31):
Ravens to win that. DIVISION i think The ravens are
gonna come back.

Speaker 1 (01:18:34):
Too uh, WELL i guess real quick here to put
is that all THE afc games are gonna talk.

Speaker 3 (01:18:38):
About, yeah who do you like in THE nfc right?

Speaker 2 (01:18:40):
Now just big?

Speaker 1 (01:18:40):
Picture we don't have to break down all the big.
Games BUT i mean we Got. RAMSEYAHAWKS i like The.

Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
RAMS i think The rams defense is.

Speaker 3 (01:18:46):
Leball obviously have McVeigh And, Stafford, Yeah pooka And adams on,
Offense Kyan williams, LIKE i think that's a really talented.
TEAM i think they're the best team in the in THE.
Nfc And i'm not just saying that because they just Beat.

Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
Seattle, NO i think they.

Speaker 3 (01:18:58):
ARE i could just trust their their infrastructure more Than.
Seattle's you, know McVeigh has been, There stafford has been.
There we still haven't Seen darnald win a meaningful. Game
he cleans up against all these crappy. Teams the second that,
he you, know plays a meaningful, game he crafts his
pants jets Tam.

Speaker 1 (01:19:14):
Darnold how worried Should philly? Be something doesn't look. RIGHT
i know they're, winning but something. Doesn't all their defense.

Speaker 3 (01:19:20):
Has been, great and you Know Vic fangio is awesome,
yea and their defense has been, great but it's gonna
be hard to win in the playoffs with that kind of.
Offense AND i think the biggest difference For philly is
that they're not running the ball like they did last.
Year And barkley's not having the same kind of season
as he had last, year and their offensive line has
taken a step. Back and Now Lane johnson has A
Liz frank, injury like that's those are hard. Injuries, yeah

(01:19:43):
those are bad ones like that could linger he could
be out a. While so they Don't they're not, physical,
like they're not people moving on the offensive line like
they were last. Year there's just something off about that run.
GAME i know a lot of people think that they
need to run hurts, more BUT i think they're kind
of saving that for the higher stakes games later on
in the season right now that they're you, KNOW A. J.

(01:20:05):
Brown this is a little bit of a hot, take
But i'd be a little bit buyer beware ON Aj.

Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
BROWN i LOVE A. J.

Speaker 3 (01:20:13):
BROWN i think HE Aj brown's one of my been
one of my favorite players in the league for years.
Now it doesn't look, great AND i know. This the
system doesn't help, him and like the scheme is not
helping him a. Ton but he used to be one
of the best go ball receivers in the league and
he's just not.

Speaker 1 (01:20:31):
Anymore so is that you, know he's twenty eight years.
Old he's not that. Old and, yeah is that a
physical thing or is it a mental? Thing IS i
this is a bad COMP i hate to use, it
but it just came to my. Head is He Randy
moss In? Vegas?

Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
Sure or In? Oakland?

Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
Maybe BUT I I i.

Speaker 3 (01:20:49):
Just watch him AND i don't think he moves very
well or as, WELL i should, say as he used to,
yeah he. DOESN'T i don't see the same. BURST i
don't see the same. Explosion you, know they like they're
he used to be a go ball in slant automatic
like and he would certain he would sequence those off
of each, other and he didn't know if it was a,
goof if it was a, slant and he'd catch and

(01:21:09):
run on those slants and he would just be out,
right like he would just be. Gone and now you
watch them, run you, know run their, offense and like
these corners are just sitting all over these slant routes
like he's got no. Separation it's not a hot take
to Say DeVante smith is the better receiver, now like
he absolutely. Is like that's not no longer a hot
take to say. That so IF i was The, EAGLES

(01:21:30):
i would just be worried that your stars aren't starring
right now on. Offense Just Brown barkley, hurts like those
guys are not playing to their superstardom at the.

Speaker 2 (01:21:41):
Moment show up week.

Speaker 1 (01:21:43):
Seventeen, yeah that's against The. Bills all, Right.

Speaker 3 (01:21:48):
Let's get to these phones and then we'll talk a
little bit Of. Bengals sorry to keep you guys. Waiting
patty is An. Aguan what's?

Speaker 1 (01:21:54):
Up?

Speaker 2 (01:21:55):
Patty what is?

Speaker 8 (01:21:57):
Up?

Speaker 5 (01:21:57):
Gentlemen how you doing? Today?

Speaker 2 (01:21:59):
Good So.

Speaker 5 (01:22:02):
I'm all right. Man wanted to go over a couple
of things with you. Guys first things, first With Milton
williams being, OUT i don't know if you guys remember
a player by the name Of Jarvis. Screen but my
first question, is can somebody Like Joshua farmer BECAUSE i
don't Think tonga is more of like a nose. TACKLE
i don't think he really fills the role That Milton

(01:22:24):
williams is going to. Do can someone like him and
and or dirt and kind of fill in and be
That Jarvis screen type of. Player and my second question, Is,
evan you just bought Up Brian, byer beware of a. J.
Brown i'm kind of with you on. That and, Listen
i'm regardless of whether the team is good or if they're,
CRAP i always have an eye towards the. Future with

(01:22:47):
the way things are going In minnesota this, year would
you try and try Justin jefferson away from the Baby let's.
Go that's that's the two. Questions i'll take it out, there.

Speaker 1 (01:22:57):
GUYS i, mean can we talk about that?

Speaker 2 (01:23:01):
THING i would be.

Speaker 3 (01:23:02):
Surprised, uh if The patriots have to trade two first
round picks For Justin, JEFFERSON.

Speaker 1 (01:23:08):
I might do.

Speaker 3 (01:23:08):
THAT i don't think they, would.

Speaker 1 (01:23:12):
AM i he's going to ask out of?

Speaker 2 (01:23:14):
There, well, well no one cares what you would, do
AUT i.

Speaker 3 (01:23:17):
Know What i'm just.

Speaker 1 (01:23:17):
Saying you think HE'S i legitmately wonder if he's going
to ask out of. There just regarding separate of The,
patriots well.

Speaker 3 (01:23:24):
Up until THE i, mean the difference is is like With,
donald like they were, winning like they were winning.

Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
Games, yeah this year they're not winning his.

Speaker 1 (01:23:32):
Money he also had a quarterback that could get him the. Football.

Speaker 2 (01:23:34):
Yeah it turns out That donald was actually pretty.

Speaker 1 (01:23:36):
Good yeah, yeah and this guy.

Speaker 3 (01:23:38):
Isn't.

Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
Yeah it's it's a fair.

Speaker 3 (01:23:40):
Point AND i think that if you look at, it you,
Know Justin jefferson could look at it and, say like
we Had donald, here, right.

Speaker 2 (01:23:46):
And this this is the decision that you guys made
it in.

Speaker 3 (01:23:48):
Order and even be on that Like i'm in my.

Speaker 1 (01:23:50):
PRIME i can't wait for you to find another quarterback
and that's going to take how? Long and suddenly you
know he's got he's got to capitalize now if he
wants to try to break records and things like. That
so there was one throw that people keep kept. Posting
it was like a third and medium out To jefferson
and McCarthy just sails, it and people ARE i JUST
i can't stop watching. This where did this come? From

(01:24:11):
remember when he made that throw like five times at the? Combine,
yeah it can't throw? Left that one to the, RIGHT
i know it.

Speaker 3 (01:24:17):
Is the irony is that the one that everybody's showing
is actually to the. Right but if you look at the,
numbers the numbers to the left are the bigger. PROBLEM
i think that and we can do a, little you, Know,
mini it's not we're. Not his career is not over.
OUT i don't want to do a full victory Left.
Wilson the thing ABOUT jj McCarthy that always bugged me

(01:24:37):
was all of the mechanics footwork concerns that everybody kept,
on you, know just drilling With Drake may that his
footwork wasn't good in this THAT jj McCarthy had all
the same issues and maybe even like, worse you, know,
overstriding poor footwork in the, pocket inability.

Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
To drive the ball outside the.

Speaker 3 (01:24:57):
Numbers, uh you, know all of that's like that was
all existed with. McCarthy and the one thing THAT i
always stood out to me with his film in college
At michigan was that when he needed to get a
little extra zip on the, ball he would, overstride so
he would like really step into the, throw like exaggerated
step into the, throw which told me that he didn't

(01:25:18):
trust his. Arm it blows up his, mechanics and but
that tells me that he doesn't trust his arm. Strength
so that was all that was always, Concerning like if this,
guy the only way this guy is going to be
able to hit a deep out in THE nfl as
if he puts his entire body behind.

Speaker 2 (01:25:34):
IT i don't.

Speaker 3 (01:25:35):
THAT i don't want that with the third overall. PICK
i want the guy with the third overall pick that
can hit the out off, platform, Right like that's what
and that's What Drake macon. Do SO i always just
thought it was so weird that, all like we we
talked for six months About drake his, footwork and then
when it came TO jj, McCarthy it would just never
really like we brought it, up but like it.

Speaker 1 (01:25:55):
Was just people rolling over the national.

Speaker 3 (01:25:57):
Champion it was never like a part of his like
big picture or zeitgeist that he had all these mechanical
issues and nobody talked about. It it was weird talking
about him, now all, Right eldred is In North.

Speaker 2 (01:26:07):
Carolina what's Up?

Speaker 3 (01:26:08):
Eldred Hey, fellas what's?

Speaker 4 (01:26:13):
Up? Hey?

Speaker 5 (01:26:14):
Hey?

Speaker 8 (01:26:15):
Evan, yes, sir And, PATTY i love, You, Bro you're
wrong on A. J. BROWN i think he just checked
out BECAUSE i can say. It they ain't use. Them BUT
i think he just checked, out you, know because he
got more challenge than. That And, evan if the greatest
of all time is boy Seven denver and sometimes he

(01:26:36):
would Get peppi teams In denver and they beat him
even in the. PLAYOFFS i don't want to play.

Speaker 3 (01:26:41):
In denver's great, Point?

Speaker 2 (01:26:42):
Aldred Is Tom brady playing for The? Patriots?

Speaker 1 (01:26:46):
No somebody Tom brady's the? Best?

Speaker 2 (01:26:50):
Okay so Tom brady had a thing In. Denver Tom
brady also had a thing In. Miami Drake may just
went down To miami.

Speaker 3 (01:26:55):
And won In.

Speaker 1 (01:26:55):
Miami, right he won In miami In.

Speaker 2 (01:26:58):
September that's like something The PATRIOTS i haven't done in ten.

Speaker 1 (01:27:00):
Years In december In miami's what they were struggle.

Speaker 8 (01:27:03):
With No, Bro No, bro that's not in the same.
Atmosphere you can cut, That. Evan i'm gonna disagree with
you on, that.

Speaker 3 (01:27:09):
Man, okay you can disagree with. Me i'm gonna have
the same. Take Like i'm, Sorry i'm not oo the
altitude LIKE i, okay like. Sorry LIKE i play In,
Denver i'll Play denver on the. MOON i don't CARE
i play him on the MIN i trust The patriots
to beat Bo. Nicks i'm, sorry LIKE I i you.

Speaker 2 (01:27:27):
Know HOW i feel about Bo. Nicks i'm not gonna
do b.

Speaker 3 (01:27:29):
Next.

Speaker 8 (01:27:30):
Bro you gotta worry about the defense. Too, okay it's light.

Speaker 3 (01:27:34):
Out it's. Great IF i only have to score twenty
one point twenty four points to win the, Game i'm
Taking Drake may all, day.

Speaker 5 (01:27:43):
Not against that.

Speaker 8 (01:27:43):
Defense i'm, sorry what so you can't.

Speaker 3 (01:27:45):
He can't score twenty points Against denver's? Defense THE mvp
of the. League come, On, eldrid have more faith than THAT.

Speaker 8 (01:27:52):
Mvp, okay when you GET, MVP i, say, yeah but
he's just in the. RUNNING i give him that. Too,
yeah don't get them. WRONG i love to keep, it
love to keep. It i'm looking at, defense And i'm
looking at what they do weekend and week out against
a good, team bad team or social. Team that defense
come to play and that Advance joseph he's he's, good

(01:28:13):
a wizard of disguising stuff or. Whatever but LIKE i,
said that offense the fourth, quarter you, got you Got,
sudden you Got, franklin then you Got, harvey and then
go everybody else following up at fourth for they kicking everybody's.

Speaker 2 (01:28:26):
Butt so what happens in the first three, Quarters?

Speaker 3 (01:28:28):
Aldred but they there in the game.

Speaker 8 (01:28:31):
Too but see our our pass coverage is scaring the
hell out of.

Speaker 5 (01:28:35):
Me that's what bothers.

Speaker 2 (01:28:36):
Me and you think Bon nicks is gonna do something about?
That come, On, aldred you know?

Speaker 3 (01:28:40):
What come?

Speaker 8 (01:28:41):
On if ad bitch had a, cop more fields would
have did. That and you know, it if they did
mentioned the cop those passes or what you, got didn't
drop the other one To jacks would have did it
AGAINST i GUESS.

Speaker 3 (01:28:55):
I think we talked about it in the first, hour being,
true that's being about.

Speaker 8 (01:29:00):
It but they, dropped couldn't And frankly ain't.

Speaker 3 (01:29:03):
Dropping, Okay, WELL i guess if The patriots Played, denver
we should just not even go to the.

Speaker 8 (01:29:09):
Game you're, Game i'm going to the, game but you're
missing the whole.

Speaker 1 (01:29:14):
Point.

Speaker 8 (01:29:14):
Bro that'd be the harder. Out give, Me, andy give.

Speaker 4 (01:29:17):
ME i.

Speaker 8 (01:29:19):
Agree i'll be more scared about About tim coming like
it was The. Patriot But i'd rather play them In
New england to go To denver and Play dipper In. Denper,
okay fair couldn't do. IT i wouldn't do it.

Speaker 2 (01:29:31):
Either Fair, enough fell.

Speaker 1 (01:29:33):
Fair. Enough thanks for The it's like The brady stat
was funny that he brought that. Up it's not A
brady thing like the Out brady.

Speaker 2 (01:29:39):
Lost you know five In. Denver so now everybody ARE
o six.

Speaker 1 (01:29:43):
Whenever the altitude thing is, real especially for a young.
Team you're just kind of going by that a little too.

Speaker 2 (01:29:49):
Quickly, yeah because it's an EXCITING i don't, know it's
a real.

Speaker 3 (01:29:53):
Thing the. Altitude it's a real it's a real. Thing
won't let that be a real? Thing how about? That?

Speaker 1 (01:30:00):
Well DO i Trust i'm not saying they can't Beat
denver In. DENVER i trust them to manage. It but
it's a Variable i'd rather not. Do AND i, SAID
i think That i'd rather go To denver than play
The chiefs in any. Capacity i'm with you on. THAT
i think the difference between playing The broncos In denver
and playing The colts In indy is.

Speaker 3 (01:30:16):
MASSIVE i think that is a significant. Difference but don't
put words in my. MOUTH i SAID i would rather
play The. COLTS i said.

Speaker 2 (01:30:22):
THAT i just. Don't i'm not afraid Of. Denver they
have a great.

Speaker 3 (01:30:26):
DEFENSE i don't think that The patriots are going to
lose in the playoffs because because their offense gets totally
shut down against a great. DEFENSE i don't think that's
gonna be why they get they get punched. OUT i
think they're gonna get punched out by a team that
they can't. STOP i have a lot of confidence In
Drake man And josh McDaniels to find ways to score.
POINTS i, do So i'm not concerned about. That, Now,

(01:30:49):
denver with the, Altitude i'm gonna come on your side
of the street for a second with.

Speaker 2 (01:30:53):
This AND i do want to talk about The.

Speaker 3 (01:30:54):
BENGALS i if there's any sort of thing THAT i
have a lot of confidence In mike Rabel, in it's
that sort of. Thing so it's figuring, Out let's not
get psyched out by the. Altitude let's adjust to. It
let's figure it, out like maybe they go down There
friday or something like that and get there a day
early and practice On saturday or do their walk through On.

(01:31:16):
Saturday and the altitude like those types of things when
it comes to sort of LIKE i don't, know like
the gamesmanship, right, altitude road environments like things like, that you,
know the heat down In. Miami, LIKE i have so
much confidence That Mike rabel is not going to get

(01:31:37):
beat in the playoffs By denver because of the. Altitude
they might get beat By denver because they play a
game and they get beat straight. UP i don't think
That Mike rabel is going to allow the altitude to
be the.

Speaker 1 (01:31:47):
RIGHT i trust them to be as ready for it
as as. Possible but it's a.

Speaker 3 (01:31:50):
Factor, so speaking of putting words into my, mouth this
is one of my biggest pet Peeves.

Speaker 1 (01:31:54):
Alex also real. Quick Stanley morgan moved on to the
next round Of hall Of fame.

Speaker 3 (01:31:58):
Voting good for, him And i'm that.

Speaker 2 (01:32:00):
Sincerely his picture is up here, somewhere it's behind.

Speaker 1 (01:32:03):
Here down.

Speaker 3 (01:32:03):
Here, yeah he should be.

Speaker 4 (01:32:05):
In.

Speaker 3 (01:32:05):
Yeah this is probably my out of all the pet
peeves THAT i, Have and you, Know i'm a pet
peeve kind of guy LIKE i don't these things tend
to bother. Me this is number one on my. List
when you put words into my, mouth which YESTERDAY i
Think fred did on the show ON pu which had
made everybody think THAT i said this WHEN i did

(01:32:26):
not say. This so yesterday when we were talking about,
this this is From, kyle he, says my feathers were
rouffled because you called The case game a one and done,
loss and you said it was a guaranteed loss and
then backpedaled roll the. TAPE i never called it a guaranteed,
loss never said, it never did never ONCE i SAID
i didn't want anything to do With Patrick mahomes in the.

(01:32:47):
Playoffs that's a. FACT i don't want anything to do
With Patrick mahomes in the. Playoffs the word guaranteed loss
never came out of my.

Speaker 2 (01:32:54):
Mouth that.

Speaker 3 (01:32:55):
NEVER i never said. THAT i actually would probably still
pick The patriots in that game based off of what
we've seen From Kansas. City but if you are telling
me that you would not be terrified to Play Patrick,
mahomes the best quarterback in THE, nfl in the wildcard
round after the season that you just, had like that
would be a stinky way to go, Out and it

(01:33:16):
would be stinky that you were the number two seed
in the conference and your draw was to play the
best quarterback in THE, nfl who also happens to be
probably the best winning playoff quarterback that's active right now
in the.

Speaker 2 (01:33:28):
League like that would.

Speaker 3 (01:33:29):
Stink like you had this great, season you won thirteen
fourteen games in the regular, season and your prize is
to Play Patrick mahomes in The Kansas City chiefs on
wildcard round in a wildcard. WEEKEND i would hate. That
never said it would be a guaranteed, loss though never
once said.

Speaker 1 (01:33:44):
It roll the tape little up to, Hear bengals have
Designated Mike kisiki to return to.

Speaker 2 (01:33:50):
Practice, okay so let's talk a little bit Of bengals
No chase in this.

Speaker 1 (01:33:57):
Game, yep so, my you, know spitting on people fair.

Speaker 3 (01:34:02):
ENOUGH i am big on seeing how they match up
in this, game because even Without chase now would have
been more fun With. Chase but even Without, CHASE i
do think that there are some matchup mismatch bodied, types
let's call it that in this. Game so, obviously AND
i don't mean to pick on, him But Marcus jones
is kind of the guy we're talking about, here.

Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
Whether IT'S T higgins or It's.

Speaker 3 (01:34:25):
Yoshiva's either, Way Marcus jones at a size disadvantage against
those two. Players so my number one thing on the
list here for The patriots is just how do you
go about making sure that The bengals can't formationally scheme
up ways to Get Marcus jones isolated on one of
those bigger receivers and then you just, play you, know
you just rebound in basketball and you box out and

(01:34:47):
you win jump balls down the. Field to, me that's
how The. Patriots this game unravels for The. PATRIOTS i
think it's big for The patriots and their defense and
their coaching staff on, defense they should be able to
devise a.

Speaker 2 (01:35:00):
Plan to TAKE.

Speaker 3 (01:35:01):
T higgins out of this. GAME T higgins should not
be a big time factor in this. Game how would
you do? It would you Put gonzo ON T higgins
and just call it a, day or would you DOUBLE
T higgins With Carlton davis and safety, help Put gonzo
On yoshiva's and do it that.

Speaker 1 (01:35:17):
Way because they're going to try to Use higgins so.
Vertically Probably davis with. HELP i feel the same one
Then gonzalez On Yoshiva's, although Like, NAH i was gonna,
say maybe we get into the, hole does a corner
cover tight end thing again this, Week that's just not gonna.
Happen i'm gonna give that one.

Speaker 3 (01:35:32):
Up that's the way THAT i look at. IT i
think this is a classic double the number one and
put your number two also the number one on the number.

Speaker 1 (01:35:42):
Ten they are probably gonna Run higgins in the, slot
which is gonna make that a little more. Difficult, honestly
WHAT i might do is Because gonzalez has more experience
covering guys in the slot Than. DAVIS i don't know
how Much davis has done that in his career because
he hasn't played on defenses where he's traveled in that
sense a lot IF i remember. CORRECT i mean there's
a lot of plays. THERE i haven't seen all of,

(01:36:02):
them but is it would almost be one where It's
gonzalez On higgins in the slot and Then davis with
help when he's. Outside you could do. That you could
do that JUST i covering from the slot is it's
a different, animal and AND i don't know how much
Experience davis has of that in his.

Speaker 3 (01:36:17):
CAREER i just look at you, KNOW i don't Think
yoshiva's Is Jamar chase by any, means BUT i don't
think he's a slouch.

Speaker 1 (01:36:25):
Either if they beat, you thrown O Andre, Yoshivas, like
well that's how they're gonna have to beat, you. Right
but like if they beat, you if that guy is
one hundred and twenty, yards you tip your.

Speaker 3 (01:36:32):
Cap i'm not saying they beat you that, way but
that the. Game that's that's their formula is. There they
want to throw the ball To, higgins but they're gonna be,
right but they're by. Me WHAT i mean by their
formula is that they're gonna try to find ways to
get T higgins In yoshiva's On Marcus, jones like either
one of those guys is gonna Try they're gonna try
to find, ways whether it's lining them up in the
slot or what have, you to get their bigger receivers

(01:36:55):
On Marcus jones in a way From gonzalez And davis,
like that's that's gonna.

Speaker 1 (01:36:59):
Be that's WHY i would do more aggressive traveling if
on The patriots in this, game Agreed Carlton. Davis how
many nflc he? Won, two, three, four, five six Seven
in EIGHT nfl, Seasons Carlton davis has played three hundred
and eighty snaps in the slot and what is essentially
two to two and a half, Seasons Christian zalez has
played one eighty. Six So Christian zalaz has almost played

(01:37:21):
half as many slots as As. Carlton the slot snaps
Is Carlton davis in significantly fewer.

Speaker 2 (01:37:26):
Games just you gotta be careful with.

Speaker 3 (01:37:29):
That you gotta be careful with the matchups, Here Like
Marcus jones has other guys he can, Cover, yeah you,
know because they're gonna probably have to Put Charlie jones
on the field and three.

Speaker 1 (01:37:37):
Receivers SO i also wonder if they get Because kasiki's,
LIKE i don't think people realize how Good gasicki was
for them last.

Speaker 2 (01:37:43):
Year he's he's a.

Speaker 1 (01:37:43):
Receiver he was a good player for, them and no
fan's been.

Speaker 3 (01:37:47):
Good they got no.

Speaker 1 (01:37:48):
Fans so do they just run Without? Chase given how
much if on The bengals, right this Is bengals catch twenty.
Two if we're in drag, SHOES i think we're talking, about,
well they can't cover tight. Ends kasiki might be. Back
they're Down chase, anyway just run its ton of. Twelve,
YEAH i think they probably will. Now and that other
just Keep Marcus jones off the. Field the other thing

(01:38:09):
THAT i think is interesting with more base and make
Dani orlowski.

Speaker 3 (01:38:12):
Happy the other THING i think that's interesting about The
bengals WHEN i was digging into to them this, Week
Chase brown is a pretty good. Back yeah he, is
and he's a very good pass catching. Back BUT i
think he's a pretty good back. Overall they're very good
running the. Football they just don't run the. Football and
maybe that's because they're down in some of these, games
maybe it's game script or. Whatever but right now they

(01:38:35):
ARE i want to, say second in the league IN
epa RUSH epa in the ENTIRE. Nfl they are last
in the league in rush, frequency how often they call.
Runs they're they're throwing the football almost seventy percent of
the time With burrow Or. Flacco it's the numbers are.

Speaker 1 (01:38:51):
Stagnant they rank second in the league and pass attempts
thirty second in rush.

Speaker 3 (01:38:55):
Attempts it's bizarre because their run game is not terrible
And Chase brown's a good. Player now maybe he's more
of like a scat back than a true downhill between
the tackles. Back and maybe they need a compliment To
Chase brown to be able to do. That but you
know the, book and this is With, chase So i'll
put that caveat on. There but the book that's been
forming against This flacco iteration of The bengals is all,

(01:39:17):
right we're just gonna play two high. Safeties we're gonna
put one safety Over. Chase we're gonna put one safety Over.
Higgins Joe flacco is not going, anywhere so we don't
have to worry about him. Scrambling and we know you're
not gonna run the, ball so we can play with lighter.
Boxes we can play without the safety down because we
know that you're not gonna run. It and so do
they kind of in this game now you said it

(01:39:39):
with the twelve. Personnel that's kind of WHERE i was going.
TO i do wonder if they try to run the
ball a little bit more in this game Without. Chase
all of these things And i'm gonna take a little shot, here, Sorry,
trags but all these little things point To Zach taylor
being a good, coach And i'm not Sure Zach taylor
Also i'm not sure about. That so Is Zach taylor
gonna game plan The patriots the way that they Should Zach,

(01:40:01):
taylor to me is one of the more interesting case
studies of like talent versus. COACHING i Think Zach taylor
has been propped up by the talent on this. Roster
for me for multiple years, now every single TIME i
watch their, Offense i'm, like, you guys don't do nearly
enough with the weapons that you. Have they come, out
they're an eleven personnel. Team they're top five in the,
league and how often they have three receivers on the. Field,

(01:40:22):
now when you Have higgins And, CHASE i get that
you're gonna be eleven, Heavy but they come out they
play eleven personnel at a league high, rate they play
shotgun at a league high, rate and they motion at
a league low. Rate so they basically do none of
the things that coordinators do nowadays to get guys open
and like play games with. Defense isn't they do none of?
It and because they have T higgins and they Have Jamar,

(01:40:45):
chase they just score points because they have great players on.
Offense so now that he's on his backup quarterback and
he doesn't have his star. Receiver Does Zach taylor actually
prove me?

Speaker 2 (01:40:56):
Wrong why would he?

Speaker 1 (01:40:59):
Change?

Speaker 3 (01:40:59):
NOW i don't.

Speaker 1 (01:41:01):
Know she have tracks call in and ask.

Speaker 3 (01:41:03):
Them i'm just asking because that's that's the big thing with.
Me every TIME i watch This bengals, Team i'm underwhelmed
by their their scheme. Offensively you, KNOW i mentioned lack
of run, rate lack of heavy personnel, groupings lack of under.
Center those three things are like the things that teams
are doing now in the. League they're throwing the ball

(01:41:24):
out of heavy. Personnel they're playing under, center like the
best offenses in the league are doing all these.

Speaker 1 (01:41:29):
Things and The bengals do a nice under center. Rate
so Like, Rams, Seahawks, Patriots. Bills, yeah there's another. One,
yep it's back that that love.

Speaker 3 (01:41:39):
It under, center twelve, personnel two tight, end under, center play,
action quick, game, run running the.

Speaker 2 (01:41:45):
Football that's the. League now it's. Back this is The bengals.
Team none of it so.

Speaker 1 (01:41:49):
Great it's all. Cyclical all, right offenses are going to
go smaller ton of eleven, personnel these little shifty wide. Receivers,
fine we're going to counter with two hundred and fifteen
pounds linebackers and playing, three, four five defensive backs at a,
time and then the, defense the offense, go, oh you're
gonna build your defense like. That here comes twenty one
to twelve personnel right up the.

Speaker 3 (01:42:09):
Gut, Yeah and eventually it was. Crazy the two.

Speaker 1 (01:42:12):
Hundred and forty pound linebacker is going to come, back
and it's it's all. Cycle and one day we'll get
back to the veer in the triple. Option eventually it'll correct.

Speaker 2 (01:42:19):
That, Well baltimore does plenty of that's, True.

Speaker 1 (01:42:21):
Baltimore baltimore kind of.

Speaker 3 (01:42:22):
Did, Yeah it's it's crazy. Though the, uh you, know
The bengals just they are a spread gun. Team whether
It's Joe burrow Or Joe, flacco it doesn't. Matter LIKE
i tried to look at this, WEEK i was, like all,
right there must be, splits, right they must be under
center more With Joe. Flacco, nope there Still, Nope they're
still in the shotgun eighty percent of the, time even
with old, man forty year Old Joe.

Speaker 2 (01:42:44):
Flacco it blows my. Mind, anyways on The bengals, defense.

Speaker 3 (01:42:48):
According TO, dva this is the worst defense that maybe
in the history of THE.

Speaker 2 (01:42:52):
Nfl so to use real.

Speaker 1 (01:42:54):
Numbers there's never been a team that has finished last
in THE nfl in rushing yards, allowed passing yards, allowed
and points. Allowed The bengals currently are last in points,
allowed last and rushing yards. Allowed they're thirty first in
passing yards, allowed so Maybe drake may help tip them
over the top. There but like this legitimately could be

(01:43:15):
the worst defensive all. Time they are in my, numbers
THE nerd, Numbers, yeah they are. Last IN dva they're,
last AND epa their.

Speaker 3 (01:43:24):
Last AND i did throw a couple of your stats in,
there last in yards, allowed last in points, Allowed like
this is a horrible. DEFENSE i think you just you
just far last and everything, right whatever we can pull
out whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:43:36):
Number super rare that you find that teams, though like
the counting.

Speaker 1 (01:43:40):
THAT i said before ever Sorry Super bowl era finishing
last and a lot of STUFF a lot of the.

Speaker 3 (01:43:45):
Times the counting stats and the efficiency sometimes you have
a little bit of discrepancy there, where like you, know
they're in a lot of, blowouts so they you, know
giving up a lot of.

Speaker 2 (01:43:55):
Yards but it's not that, bad you.

Speaker 4 (01:43:57):
Know WHAT i?

Speaker 3 (01:43:57):
Mean, like, no This bengals team is bad in the
advanced metrics and they're bad in The.

Speaker 1 (01:44:02):
No i'm looking at this. Here the only thing that
they're not ranked like dead. Lasted they were eleventh in
the league in. Interception they've got eight. Interceptions beyond, that
passing yards allowed thirty, first passing touchdowns, allowed thirty, second
rushing yards, allowed thirty second rushing touchdowns, allowed twenty six
rushing yards pert tempt, thirtieth passing yards per attempt thirty.
First their turnover percentage is actually very, low it's twenty.

(01:44:27):
Thirds they have a lot of, interceptions but teams they're
even last and plays ran against.

Speaker 2 (01:44:31):
Them, yeah so they're the one the biggest.

Speaker 3 (01:44:35):
Thing and, look you, could as we're laying out here for,
you you could kind of do whatever you want against
This bengals.

Speaker 2 (01:44:41):
Defense so here's the crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:44:43):
Thing, yeah everybody's Or i've been asked a, lot is
this the Week drake may goes over three hundred? Yards,
sure they've for as bad as it's. Been they've only
allowed more than three hundred passing yards in a game.
Once oh, okay So i've read that. Wrong, sorry they'
Allowed they've had some yard passers WHERE i think yards
have come off with.

Speaker 2 (01:45:03):
Sacks, WELL i just wonder what happens like they're down By.

Speaker 1 (01:45:07):
So that's the, thing BECAUSE i think teams look at and, say,
well we can run against you the fourth. Quarter so
why EVEN i don't even know if it's the fourth,
quarter is? It we can run against? You and running
is inherently less risky than, passing so why would we?

Speaker 3 (01:45:18):
Pass SO i think the biggest thing with This bengals defense,
though when you watch them on, tape they don't know
where to line, up and they If i'm The patriots
and look, again like you can probably just do. Whatever
you could probably just run your offense and score against
This bengals. Defense i'm not trying to reinvent the wheel.
Here but at the same, time WHEN i WHEN i
watched them on, TAPE i see a lot of point
in palms, up like you, know busted coverages all over the.

(01:45:42):
Place they have a first year defensive, Coordinator Al, golden
first year with the with The bengals that came From Notre.
DAME i was on that staff the year before that
went to The National Championship, game and it just seems
like it's a defense that doesn't know its, rules doesn't
know uh what it wants to do against certain things

(01:46:02):
like motion and like are you? Passing are we traveling with?
Motion like when we get into you, know stacks and,
bunches like how are we sorting those types of things?

Speaker 2 (01:46:11):
Out like are we?

Speaker 3 (01:46:13):
Playing you?

Speaker 4 (01:46:14):
Know?

Speaker 2 (01:46:14):
Man are we you, know zoning it? Off like what
are we? Doing you?

Speaker 3 (01:46:17):
Know, so If i'm The patriots And I'm josh, McDaniels
i am just throwing the kitchen sink of like the
high level football stuff at them BECAUSE i don't think
that they're gonna be able TO i THINK i would
play a bunch of mind games with. Them, yeah, motions, stacks,
bunches different, formations different personnel, groupings like just put their

(01:46:40):
mind in an absolute blender BECAUSE i don't think they're
gonna be able to sort through.

Speaker 1 (01:46:43):
It you know who the only quarterback is throw for
over three hundred yards on The bengals this, year who
we've talked about in quite a bit on the, Show Oh, Nix,
yes through for three hundred and twenty six yards to
get them In week.

Speaker 3 (01:46:52):
Four, Yeah SO i think that this is one of
those weeks where you can like outsmart, outwit, out sophistic
count whatever The bengals defense like they can you can
really put the their their minds and pretzels, like you
can really mess with, them.

Speaker 1 (01:47:08):
Especially they can't.

Speaker 2 (01:47:09):
Tackle, yeah they're one of the worst.

Speaker 1 (01:47:11):
Tackling so you could also just run the ball and
dare them to bring you.

Speaker 2 (01:47:15):
Down, YEAH i wouldn't do. That throw the ball and
let's let's warm up the.

Speaker 3 (01:47:20):
Buses let's you get this to be like twenty one,
seven twenty four to seven at halftime in games over
and then you start running the ball and they can't.
TACKLE i, yeah they're They not only do they not,
tackle they don't swarm very well, either so they're like
last in the league and misstackle, right they're also last
in the league and yards allowed off of, misstackles so
they're not only do they not the first guy doesn't

(01:47:41):
get the guy, down nobody gets the guy down, right
and so they are getting killed by.

Speaker 1 (01:47:46):
We're generally just in case anybody's. Winner we're generally a
pretty level headed. SHOW i don't know that we've ever
talked about a team and we've even the, opponents like
we've covered some Bad jets, offenses AND i don't know
that we've ever talked about a team like this because
or a unit of a team like this because it's
it's historically bags. THIS i, mean we've been doing this

(01:48:07):
since twenty. Eighteen is this the worst unit that we've ever?
Studied my memory is not good, enough but it's IT'S i,
mean there's obviously some Bad, jets some Bad jets teams in.

Speaker 2 (01:48:18):
There it just as, uh you know what it is
is it's, like, well.

Speaker 3 (01:48:26):
They're not very coordinated very, Well i'll say it that,
way you, know and so like it's not so much
that they have talent. Issues but but, normally when you
like go into these types of, GAMES i can at least, say,
oh that guy's a good.

Speaker 2 (01:48:38):
Player this guy's a good. PLAYER i could probably do
that with some of the.

Speaker 3 (01:48:42):
Players Now Trey henderson is not going to, play but
they don't have a ton of talent THAT i can
point To Dj. Turner their corner is having a nice,
year like he's a solid number one, corner but outside of,
him they don't have a lot of. TALENT i Mean.
Stewart so, normally even IF i think that the, COACHING
i can, say, okay but like you, know they're playing The,

(01:49:03):
jets and, well now he's not there.

Speaker 2 (01:49:04):
Anymore but Like Sauce gardner is a good. Player Quinn
williams is a good.

Speaker 3 (01:49:07):
PLAYER i can't even do that with This bengals, Defense
like they DON'T i don't even know who half these.

Speaker 1 (01:49:11):
Got Shamar stewart has not been. Good Miles murphy's, good he's.
Injured those are two of the last first round. Picks
i'm just, saying big, Picture, yeah LIKE i Thought Barrett
carter would be an okay, Player Jordan, Battle Gino stone
like aren't.

Speaker 2 (01:49:22):
Terrible But i'll say this, though and then we got to, go,
Oh Marco.

Speaker 3 (01:49:26):
WILSON i wouldn't be surprised if this is another kind
of like ho home take care of business game where
they don't necessarily blow. DOORS i think that that we're
at that point in the season with the lay by
where this team is kind of, guys they're kind of
tired and they're a little bit banged, Up so don't freak.
Out if this game is like kind of like The

(01:49:48):
jets game, was where like The patriots are clearly the better,
team but they don't really run away from The. BENGALS
i just wouldn't be totally shot. Take let's, say you,
KNOW i would probably pick The patriots to win this, game.

Speaker 2 (01:50:01):
You, know thirty to.

Speaker 3 (01:50:03):
SEVENTEEN i was gonna say thirty twenty. Four yeah like some,
yeah you know something that's a comfortable. Win but it's
not a Complete they're not going to hang fifty on them.
Either all, right let's take this last call because marstera,
regular and then we got to clear the way here FOR.

Speaker 2 (01:50:16):
Pu what's?

Speaker 3 (01:50:17):
Up?

Speaker 9 (01:50:17):

Kayshan body is a guy THAT i really think should get,
extended AND i wanted to ask you when is he

(01:50:37):
eligible this year to get a contract. Extension and then
the last thing is put me on. Record Kansas City
chiefs have the last seven. GAMES i think four games
are tough to, win AND i don't think they're going
to make the. Playoffs so put me on record for. That,
guys love you, boys love.

Speaker 3 (01:50:54):
It, mark thanks so really. Quickly, Yes Kaishan boody And
Pop douglas are extension. Eligible all those guys are starting

chase you, know No, hendrickson No. Burrow Getting Remondra stevenson

(01:51:18):
