Speaker 1 (00:03):
This is the Patriots Catch twenty two podcasts with Evan
Lazar and Alex bar Blazar and Lazarre. Everybody nailed it,
joined us always by our bark. Here is Evan Lazar
and Alex Bars.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
I gotta tell you after two and a half days
at the combine, those reason are a lot harder.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
I'll tell a half days combine I could use when
I was comfortable, Like couches, they're a lot harder to
do to put my feet up.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
A lot of what is us right like we had
to You know, you probably need it telling me I
playing a completely shaved for the first time, for which
I didn't want to do.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
My trim broke and now everybody's seeing what.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Was under there.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Yeah, I needed the steps.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Oh my goodness, my voice last week I did not.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
I knew it was a little shot.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
I knew there was a little bit of raspiness going
on there.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
But here in that back and I I was maybe
because you're worn out from doing so much podcasting, right.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
I warned, it is exactly exactly. Well, we're back, We're
back back, We're back from the Combine. We're in the
studio again. Feels good to be back at and at
home after a week at the Combine. Never complained about
the Combine. Love the Combine. It's my my favorite event
of the year, my favorite trip of the year to
go to Indianapolis. I was a little disappointed though, that
(01:26):
I didn't get to Prime forty seven for dinner later
in the week. Did Elmos didn't do Prime forty seven?
That was a little disappointing. You got a stake, but
Thursday night, you know, the workouts ran late, and it
just didn't line up for me to be to end
up there this year.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
But you got some shrimp cocktail. Did.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
I watched it happen your first experience. You didn't know
what you were getting yourself into. I handled it fine,
You handled it fine, But I did tell you that
it's got a kick.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
It comes it, does it? Does it? Uh? I found
out that there's like because I tell my buddy about it.
There is no way it's like that. So I don't
know if it's the same when you buy it in
the store. But I found out they sell bottles of
it in the store, so they do. To make my
buddy try it. They do.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
I don't think it's the same personally for experience, but
that's it.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Tastes the same. It just has to be as hot.
I just want to make him feel how hot it is.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Everything like that is the same when you when you
put it into you know, the supermarkets and stuff. But anyways,
I digress. That's that's a little two minutes of what
when when What went on at the Combine post Wednesday
Catch twenty two last week. So yeah, that was a
fun week and we had a fun time. We're gonna
(02:35):
recap or post mortem here the Combine a little bit
at the beginning of the show. I know everybody is
eager for the start of free agency next week, so
a lot of free agency talk. We do plan on
talking plenty of free agency. But before we do that,
I do want to have I do have some last takes,
you know, leftover takes from the Combine, as I know
(02:58):
you do as well. So before we get truly rolling.
You don't know what to do without football Sunday, spend
the off season building a better Easter Brunch with Bob's
Discount furniture shot Bob's for the latest Spring styles Like Betty,
a mid century modern dining set available in four retro
chic colors and featuring an extendable table that makes it
(03:20):
easy to celebrate the season with the whole home team.
So gather around the table and score a style touchdown
with Bob's Discount Furniture, the official furniture store of the
New England Patriots. All right, I want to start with
an opening dike, and then we're gonna do three up,
three down combine style too. So we're gonna we're gonna
(03:41):
go both give an opening take, how about that? And
then we have three up, three down combine style. So
just like we do it in season to recap the
Patriots last game, we'll do it for the combined workouts,
the winners and losers, ups, downs, whatever you want to
call it. But my big opening take or take away
I should say from the combine last week is that
(04:02):
this is not the draft that you want to be
stuck reaching for need. This is not the draft for that, right.
This is a draft that has a few really really
strong positions. I think we've all heard those by now.
Defensive line, running back, tight end. I think interior offensive
line is pretty good too, especially when you project all
(04:23):
the tackles that are going to have to move inside
to interior offensive line. It's a strong class. Those three
positions are three and a half. If you want to
include the guards and the centers, that's the strength of
the draft. And I think if you have to color
outside the lines, if you need a top ten left tackle,
if you need a top ten wide receiver, if you
(04:46):
need any of those types of things, I think that
you're in trouble. Not saying that you can't have other options.
I'm just saying I think that you would be reaching
on a lot of those players, let's say four overall.
I would also say the same thing about rounds two
through seven of this draft, though. You want to be
in a position as a football team where you can
(05:08):
really hit and lean into the strength of this draft,
which is undoubtedly the positions that I just named. So
I was blown away by the running back workouts, which
I know is it might surprise you a little bit, definitely,
But sitting there on Saturday watching, you know, okay, next
guy five eleven, two hundred and twenty pounds four to four,
(05:29):
next guy, you know, five eleven, two hundred and twenty pounds,
four to four, It's like this is crazy, right. So
there's plenty of running backs in this draft. There's a
slew of edge rushers and defensive linemen. So my big
takeaway for the Patriots is that you need to approach
free agency to fill some needs that are not available
(05:49):
to you in the draft, looking specifically at offensive tackle
and wide receiver from a Patriots.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Prism, because what I would do is sign up a.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Couple of offensive tackles that you think starting caliber, go
after a big fish in the wide receiver market, and
then hammer front seven in the draft. Right, you can
find all these front seven guys. You can find defensive
linemen in the first three rounds of the draft that
are gonna come in and make a big impact for you.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
So that was my big takeaway.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
I think that if you get stuck in a position
kind of like the Patriots were in last year, you
are going to be reaching on players at certain positions
by and leaving maybe half a dozen higher graded players
on your board because you need to tackle right and
I wouldn't want to be in that position.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Well, that's why, And that leads perfectly into my take,
Like we'll get to free agency later in the show.
I want to give Matt dollf credit for half of
this take because it was a really good point. By him.
He called Ronnie Stanley and to a lesser extent, Cam
Robinson the lynch pin of the Patriots offseason because if
you can sign one of those guys and check the
box at left tackle, and those are probably the only
(06:53):
two guys that definitively check that box right. They do
it to varying degrees, but I think you feel good
about them. It frees you up to have a lot
more flexibility, both in free agency, in the draft, and
when it comes to the draft coming away from the combine.
I'm not saying that any of these players are bad players,
but let's say Travis Hunter goes before for right, You're
you're you're facing a major question with a lot of
(07:14):
the guys we've talked about, Will Campbell, arm length, Mason Graham, undersized,
Will Johnson coming off a significant injury, didn't play last year.
Tat McMillan, you're worried about speed and explosiveness. So you know,
small offensive lineman, small defensive lineman, slow receiver, kind of
unknown corner. So I'm gonna add, like, let's say Travis
(07:34):
Hunter goes right and they have less tackle left tackle. Answered,
knowing what we know now, Evan who is the best
player on the board. If Travis Hunter is gone? Who
is the best player? I don't know. I don't like
how where you're going with. So all right, what you're
gonna say? Okay, so no, I'm gonna say something that
you're not gonna like and then we couch it with
(07:55):
something that is my real question to you, the best
player on the board after Travis Hunter is ashing. That's
pretty clear at this point. Now, listen, they probably shouldn't
be taking a running back and forth. Okay, so I
will give you that. We're gonna, We're gonna and this
is me saying this, We're gonna put running back aside
because of the positional value. So we're doing that. Who's
the best player on board? Will Campbell more so than so?
(08:17):
What I was gonna say is Tyler Warren. I think
Tyler Warren and now he's an older prospect, he has
those questions too, But for a team that kind of
needs to hit on on a guy. The thing about
the older prospects, so they're generally high floor, lower ceiling.
Should we be and I'm not this is not me
going to the table saying he is the pick, but
should we be talking about to a lesser extent Ashton
(08:39):
Genty really to a greater extent, Tyler Warren. Should we
be talking more about Tyler Warren for the Patriots at
four coming away from the Combine? I think he's maybe
assuming they have the free agency we think they're gonna have,
and they address left tackle, and they address at least
get at least one defensive lineman, should we be talking
more about Tyler Warren for the than we are right now? Yeah,
(09:01):
it's a fair point.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
And I think Tyler Warren has been on both of
our short lists for that first round pick, whether it's
in a trade down scenario. You know, I put out
that tiers list before the Combine, and he was certainly
on there, pretty high. I find I'm not mistaken, like
five or six on that list, you know, behind Abdul Carter,
behind Travis Hunter, behind Campbell, behind Mason Graham. I think
(09:24):
he was five on my list, behind those four guys.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Only.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
The question that you have to ask with a guy
like Tyler Warren is can you build your offense around
Tyler Warren? Is he going to be one to one?
You know in terms of your wide receiver pass catcher
depth chart, where like you are running a tight end
centric offense a lah the Gronkowski Patriots, the Kelsey Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
You know, if you.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Want to throw like Mark Andrews in his prime with Baltimore,
like that is the offense that you're going to have
to run. And do you think that he has the
ceiling to be able to carry that? And I think
that's the question that I have.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
So I'm not ready to say that one hundred percent,
but I think he has the tools to get there
because of how much he can do, because of all
the different places he can line up and win from
those different places. I don't think he's ever going to
be a home run hitter, but I think his ability
to consistently move the sticks and get open in all
these different ways, and the way you can use him
(10:25):
to hunt mismatches. He's a guy. You're not gonna build
it around him the way you would build it around
T Higgins or a DK Metcalfit's so you look different,
but I think you can build it around it. But
it just gets back to the point again where and
I don't maybe I throw Tet McMillan to this, we
kind of shut it down talking about him at four
leading into the combine, should we talk more about tet McMillan.
(10:46):
For I guess really what this take is, big picture
is you know, I kind of said going into the
combine last week, it was looking to me as simple
as like, here was the flowchart. Is Travis Hunter on
the board? Yes? Take him?
Speaker 4 (10:57):
No?
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Will Campbell boom? It was as simple as that. I
know longer think it's that simple. I think we are
wide open in the conversation once again for the fourth
overall pick, especially if they sign a tackle, if they
don't have a left tackle, you know, there's a case
to be and that just reminds me of somebody else
I'll get to in a second. You know, that kind
of makes the case for you got to maybe force
(11:18):
it attackle a little bit. But I'm curious you say
you would still take Campbell. So in this I said,
in this scenario, ask me who the best player available was. Okay,
so not who you would take? Yeah, okay, he would
have for me, he would have the highest grade on
so but all right, but let's say this. Let's say
they signed Ronnie Stanley, yeah, and it's Hunter's gone. Would
you draft Campbell as a guard for because he's the
(11:38):
best player there. No, okay, but we we look at it.
I'm saying we agree on this point.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Like we are not big and I don't want to
speak for you, but I feel like I can here,
like we're not big best player available without any caveats,
without any So we're big on best player available. I
usually say from a premium position.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
I always say best player available for the team, because
I go back to Bill Belichick. Well, it doesn't necessarily
need to be a premium position, but best player available
for the team, Like to Bill Belichick, Right, we did
what's best for the team, So let me throw one
other guy forgot in that whole rant. And again, this
is all assuming they get the tackle and Travis Hunter
goes it four. Right, what about armand Membo? Now I
(12:20):
am not somebody who believes you draft arm On Membo
at four and you make them a left tackle. We
just saw them trying to move guys over. It did
not work. I do not want to see them do
it again. But if you come out of this offseason
and you're using a lot of premium assets on one
position group, but if there's one position group to do it,
it's the offensive line. And I'm So okay with that.
If you come out of this offseason with Ronnie Stanley
(12:43):
left to right, Ronnie Stanley, fill it in. Left guards
your weak spot, you know, maybe it's Laydon Robinson, maybe
it's Patrick McCarry, Maybe it's a guard later in the draft,
right Carson Vincent, Ronnie Stanley, left guard to be named later,
David Andrews, Mike O and Wnu armand Membo. Yeah, a
real offensive line. That's a one eighty. You're you're you're
cooking with gas now. So that's another guy just to
(13:06):
add to that rant. Like if assuming they get the
left tackle. Armand Membu is a guy and I think
Dane Burglar had him at four to the Patriots and
his last mock. So like this conversation and we this
is why we couched everything going into the combine that
we were talking about the conversation of four is so
much more wide open now then maybe we thought it
(13:26):
was gonna be going in, especially if they can add
that left tackle, whether it be Ronnie Stanley or Cam Robbinson.
So there's a couple of things there. Uh yeah, I
want to go back to the.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Warren conversation for a second. I do have some questions
about whether or not he you know, to use the
term that Elliott Wolfe has used in the past, Is
he a coverage dictating player?
Speaker 1 (13:51):
I think so so.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
That because that's what they need, a Tuesday player. Yeah, yeah, right,
So if they're gonna draft him at four overall, then
you have to be you have to be saying to yourself,
the teams are gonna get into game plan us and
they're going to have to take.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Tyler Warren out of the game just like they used to.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Take Ronk or Kelsey or whatever. I'm not trying to
put that all on him, but you know what I'm trying.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
So again, I'm not super confident, like definitive. Yes, he
can be, But I don't think are you definitive yes?
For whatever you know about a tackle you need a
check this box or a defender you need to check
this box. Are you that? Do you feel that way
about anybody available at that pick, which I would say no,
So we go to that next level. I think Warren
has a chance to be that player. Again, it goes
(14:33):
back to the versatility you're He's a guy. In my mind,
if you're taking him, you are not He's not gonna
be all right, he's our in line tight end and
he's gonna run this route tree and you no, like
some weeks he's gonna play in line. Some weeks are
gonna move him, probably more heavily in a slot. Some
weeks you made you know you face a man heavy team.
All right, we're gonna start playing. We're gonna play him
(14:53):
the boundary this week to get a linebacker out of
the box. We're gonna try to run the ball, all right,
we're probab. We're gonna use him as a full back
this week, like you're going to use him to hunt matchups.
It's not so much the you're not so if you're
the Tuesday morning sense of it is not we need
to take away this guy because he does this well.
It's we need to be prepared for them to do
(15:14):
anything with this guy because it's all on the table.
It's a little different. It's not the most ideal situation.
And this is why again this is not me pounding
the table for Tyler Warren. But this is me like
we could do a different extent, have the same conversation
or in a different context, have the same conversation with
Will Campbell. Right, is he if you're taking him at four,
you're expecting him to be a career tackle. We don't
(15:35):
know he's a career tackle. Are you willing to take
that risk? And do you think you can develop him
to the point where he can be or not? With
Tech McMillan, Well, he doesn't have the speed. He's definitely
a matchup nightmare in some situations, but not in every situation.
Can you figure out a way to use him for
him to become that Tuesday player? Assuming Hunters off the board,
we can. My point is, like I thought we were
(15:55):
just gonna do this for Campbell, we can probably do
it with six or seven different guys. We can do
it with Dash and Genty, we can do it with
Will Johnson. We can do it with Tyler Warren. You
want to get into like Michael Williams and Javon Walker.
I think you can do it with those guys too.
So you know, I don't know that i'd be rushing
for those guys. To me, it's somebody who's gonna make
(16:20):
I don't know how I want to phrase that, but
like you get what I'm saying, right, No, I don't
know for sure Tyler Warren is going to be a
Tuesday player. You tell me who the player is on
the board that we know is going to be a
Tuesday player for I'll tell you to take them. My
point is, I don't think that guy's there. So now
we have to get into well, which of these players,
if you get stuck at four and can't trade, or
you move down slightly and you're still basically working with
the same group, which one of these guys can you
(16:41):
make the strongest case for that he's a chance to
become a Tuesday player. I don't know that Tyler Warren's
at the top of that list, but he belongs on
the list of people we should be having that conversation about.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
Yeah, I definitely agree he's on the list. And the
other guy that I also think is on the list
for me at this point is Ted McMillan first similar reasons. Yeah,
And I think the main reason why, even more so
than some of the reasons that I think are are
relevant with Warren, I think we're finding out and maybe
(17:11):
they'll this will change. Maybe next week this time they'll
have Chris Godwin on the roster, or they'll have Brandon
Aiyuk on the roster, or a J. Brown or DK
Metcalf or whoever. Like I'm willing to allow this to change,
but just from what we are experiencing with this team
for the last year, I wonder if you are going
(17:33):
to have to go find your own receiver, you know, Well,
Mike Brabel kind of said that, right, and so if
that's the mindset of We're just not in a position,
even if we offer the financials, We're just not in
a position right now to draw a DeVante Adams. We're
not in a position to draw Chris Godwin's an unrestricted
(17:56):
free agent come Monday. He's got eight teams are calling him,
offering in similar contracts. We just aren't in a position
to lure Chris Godwin away from the Chargers. The Chargers
land him, you know, or I'm just using the Charges
because there are another receiver needed team, you know, Chiefs
land them, whatever. We're just not in a position to
do that. And I'm not in love with Ted McMillan.
(18:19):
I don't necessarily look at him and see I've said
this multiple times. I've never I don't look at him
and see an elite prospect.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
You know.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
Molik neighbors a Jamar Chase like he's not that he's
not that. But one thing that I come away from
you know, from Indy, from the trip is I have
to recalibrate my brain to adjust for.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
This class, right, the talent in this class.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
And I look at Warren too in the same way,
in the same light, and that is in this class.
Those two guys are top ten talents in this year.
They wouldn't have been last year. But it's not last year, right,
it's this year. So I look at Ted McMillan and
I rewatched some of the games I hadn't seen of
his a little bit yesterday.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
I rewatched games you haven't seen.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
Yeah, I phrased that poorly. I watched games that I
haven't seen it. The one game I did rewatch though,
actually because I got myself tripped up there, I went
back and watched him against Travis Hunter in twenty twenty three.
And there's an obvious path there in terms of his
skill set to being a big bodied inside outside X
(19:35):
receiver that can play the big slot, that can play
out on the perimeter, that is going to win with separation.
I think he can separate at the first two levels.
I just don't think he runs by anybody. But I
think when you get into that intermediate range, the stop routes,
the digs, the slants, like, I think that he does
create some separation. And with his catch radius and with
(19:56):
his size, you know, he can obviously box out and
he doesn't need a ton of right and he's got
fantastic body control, hands and catch radius like that's all
over his tape. So I'm revisiting the idea of TEP McMillan,
and maybe all he ever ends up being is like
a Drake London type player. Is a top twenty receiver?
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Are comp last week? Down there?
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Yeah, top twenty receiver in the league last year, Drake London.
The Patriots might be in a position where they have
to look at it and say, how else are we
going to get that guy?
Speaker 5 (20:29):
So?
Speaker 1 (20:30):
How else are we going to get a number one receiver?
Because we've tried in every avenue possible, right, Like, we
can't get it. We can't get I used to accept
the trade here, we can't get Calvin Ridley to accept
our money. We can't get Chris Godwin to take our cash.
We can't get t Higgins out of Cincinnati because they
keep on freaking franchise tagging the guy, Right, So like,
(20:51):
how else are we going to get that player? Like,
maybe it's Tyler Warren just in a different mold, right,
Maybe we're building the offense differently, We're building it around Tyler.
Maybe it's Ted McMillan, and is it perfect? No, But
I think there's a case for both those guys. So
I actually have a a take on the receivers. It's
(21:13):
not so much a take, just you know, coming away
from it, how do they get that guy? Matthew Golden
impressed me more than I thought. I already liked Matthew Golden,
as you know. Yeah, but like tet at even if
they trade down, Let's say tet at nine, where you
trade up and you get Golden at like twenty four,
So you're gonna take two receivers? No, no, no, I'm saying,
(21:34):
if it's oh, right, what's the better play you take?
I don't know somebody else that I don't know if
Matthew Golden's gonna be there at twenty four, you don't
think so, just based off of some of the things
that you heard coming out of the combine, Like there
are some teams that might have him as the number
one receiver in the draft. Yeah, so I had, and
I'm kind of thinking, like for the Patriots, it's really
close if you could just stylistically right for it. Josh
(21:57):
McDaniels was such a great route runner, right, So I
came in Golden is such a great I came in
thinking he was Tet gap and then that group of
Burden Golden and Igbuka Sam and I kind of came
away like Golden might be closer to Tet than he
is to those other two.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Yeah that's fair. Now, I don't want to overrate the
forty two much, but I don't think.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
He played No. I just thought, like, he don't think.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
He plays four to two, Like I think he runs
great routes. Yeah, and he's got great hands, and he's
got great body control and separation ability.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
In the open field.
Speaker 2 (22:29):
I don't necessarily see four two. But that's okay. Like
I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I just think
that he had. If I were to list like the
good things about Matthew Golden, I don't know if like
I don't know where speed would like top end speed
would be on that list.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Right, it's you know what for me? And I already
thought he was he had a really good chance being
a first round pick. Yeah, it's not even the forty.
It's the way he spoke at his podium, hearing the
way people talked about him, his approach, like this sounds
kind of you can tell me if this is dumb.
You can tell me if I'm putting too much emphasis
on this. Right. The other Texas guys, Tees Johnson, they
(23:03):
went up there and talked about how they were gonna
beat Xavier Worthy's forty, right, and they were talking smack
about it. And I'm not faulting them for being confident,
but like they went up and they talked a lot
of smack about it. None of them broke four four,
Isaiah Bond, Jaylen Blue, none of them broke for four.
Golden goes up there, talks about how he wants to
be coach hard, how he wants to you know, I
(23:25):
thought he had a great pot of it. And then
he goes out and he runs a better time than
any of them. Yeah, and again just talking to people
kind of about his mental makeup. That's what's great about
the combine is we see these guys on tape, but
you get to kind of learn a little bit more
about what makes them tick, and hearing about what makes
Matthew Golden tick, I'm like, yeah, that's kind of the
guy I want. And you know, I still think he's
(23:46):
a very confident guy, and I think he has kind
of that swagger that you want from wide receiver. But
I think he has that dog too a little bit
where he's kind of got that edge and he's a
competitor and he's got that fire. So I I like that,
Like that's the kind of thing that you learn at
these events, and especially the way it's gone here with
(24:08):
receivers the last couple of years. Somebody's gonna take that approach,
I think is he literally said about his meeting with Patriots,
they coached me hard. I want to be coached hard.
What more can you want at this point?
Speaker 2 (24:17):
So the other thing just sort of the trickle down
of the receivers at the combine, and I have the
I don't want to spoil the ups and downs too much.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
I already spoiled, like to of when you look.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
At the Iowa state receivers Jaden Haigens and Jalen Noel,
both of those guys tested phenomenally and one of the
things that I.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
Thought of too is that now.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
I feel like pretty strongly that with both those players,
if you want one of those guys, you have to
take them at thirty eight.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
Like they're not gonna make it to sixty nine. Sorry,
who is this? Noel and both Iowa State guys Ohs
and Noel? Right, would you put Rostrepo in that group
as well? No? Okay, no, because it's a size. But
he's get sixty nine. I think he might because.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
He's a slot he's a slot only player.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Yeah, but he's a good slought only player. Yeah, but
Jalen Noel is a more complete receiver than he is.
I'm not saying he's gonna go above. There's a lot
of picks between thirty eight and sixty. Sure, that's that's fair.
We'll see. But my point being is that if you
want one of those two guys, yeah, you need to
take them at thirty eight.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
They're not making it to the Patriots in the third round.
It's not happening. So you're either taking them at thirty
eight or you're trading up from sixty nine to get
one of those. But even then, I think that their
range is probably now thirty to forty, Like.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
Yeah, you're not moving up from sixty nine to get
one of those guys, you're moving down from thirty eight
if at all, So then after last year, just take
him at thirty eight at that point.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
But my fear is, though, is that if they're operating
under this assumption, and I'm not saying that they necessarily
are one hundred percent of this thinking, but just for
the sake of the discussion, if they're operating under the
whole thing of trenches, trenches, trenches, and then now you're
gonna have to be using another third pick in the
(26:04):
thirties for two years in a row on a wide receiver. Yeah, right,
Like you're not really doing trenches, trenches, trenches, right, Yeah,
And so I I wonder at four where there is
a lot of uneasiness about a lot of these guys
like his skill player. Now may be a little bit
more of a consideration over trenches, and then you'll hammer the.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Trenches, I think to as long as the trenches are
addressed properly in free agency, that's all banks on them, right.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
Butency defensive line they can find they can find on
day two about that, so offensive line is the question mark.
And maybe, like you said, you sign a Ronnie Stanley,
you sign a Cam Robinson to play left tackle, so
now you're really just looking for right tackle competition, right,
So maybe it's you know, an Ozzie Trapilo. Maybe it's
(26:53):
somebody and Anthony Belton, Yeah, Anthony Belton. Uh, you know
someone in that range of this draft that can come
in with Cayden Wallace and maybe a lower cost free
agent veteran, you know, want Morgan Moses. Let's just throw
a name out there for you know, one year, nine
million or eight million, you signed Morgan Moses is like,
(27:13):
you know, a better version of what they were hoping
they were going to get out of, like Riley Reef
for like choops of four and four or whatever. And
then you just kind of throw things at right tackle,
like you have three different layers of options there, right tack.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
Or you you talk about member with four in a
trade back and you just locked that whole thing up. Yeah,
So we're gonna spoil all of our ups and downs talking,
so let's get and that we can fire through them
and get to the phone.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
So let's talk about those here instead of spoiling all
of them, because let's go to my list in yours
as well, Okay, I want you start, you start, go ahead?
Speaker 1 (27:47):
Should you start with when we already spoiled? Sure? Matthew Golden. Yeah,
I just thought he tested well. Sounded like he interviewed well,
checked a lot of boxes. That wide receiver two conversation
was wide open coming into the week. I still could see,
just on stylistically, some teams having burden over him. I
actually had burden go ahead of him in my uh
(28:07):
they went like really close twenty one and twenty five,
I think in my mock draft I put out on Monday.
But Matthew Golden, this momentum has been building since the
college football playoff, and I think he took it and
ran with it.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
So I I don't remember which comp I settled on
for him, and.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
We doing three and three or like I wanted each position.
I did three and three. Okay, but you can do
whatever you want, okay.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
I I don't remember which comp I settled on with him,
but I think I underestimated him even a little bit.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
With the comp even doesn't sound right? Was it Tyler Lockett? Uh? No?
That was Jaylen Nowell. I still feel pretty good about
okay com I was gonna say it doesn't seem right. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
So the comp that I tend to like stay away
from comps like this because it's such a high ceiling
that you're producing.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
It was Deon Branch. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
Who I he's bigger than Dion Branch, So I think
that that's uh. Deon Branch was a great rapd runner
in a really fast, you know, explosive, bursty route runner.
Much bigger than a couple of inches taller was Dealon Bran,
like five to nine.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
Really.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
Yeah, So I've heard a little bit of this just
talking around or you know, asking around. A couple of
people threw this one at me. So that's why I
feel like mentioning it was Stefan Diggs. And I I
hate to throw Steffan Diggs out there because Stefon Diggs
a hell of a football player.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
I see where that's coming from, though, I do see
that's like ceiling, that's a ceiling comp.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Yeah, but right, there was a couple of people and
Stefan Diggs didn't run great in his forty not that
that matters given the career that he had. So it's
not you know, if you're going to look at it
from like a pure you know, mock draftable standpoint, who's
the best comp It's probably not going to be Steffan
Diggs for those reasons. But you know, route running, technician,
(29:54):
speed hands, you know.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
All that type of stuff. There is a little bit
of that in his game. You know, he he won,
He he won the week in a lot of ways
at that position.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
My number one up though, was not was not a
golden although I agree that that was a good pick.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
My number one up was Shamar Stewart from Texas A.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
So Shamar Stewart goes out, puts up a ten out
of ten relative athletics score four five nine with a
forty inch vertical at sixty five two and sixty seven pounds.
Fre freak, an absolute freak, you know, like Superhero hit
him with the Captain America's here him, Like this guy's
an absolute cyborg.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
Now that being said, he had one.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
And a half sacks last year and four and a
half sacks in his entire career at Texas A and
M now sax Is and everything. But if you're gonna
draft a guy at four overall, you're projecting that he
is going to be a double digit sack player in.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
The NA, especially teams generally way production more at that
position than now.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
Yeah, so we did have thirty nine pressures last year,
which isn't terrible. It's not good, but it's not terrible.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
So think, isn't there defense kind of structure like Georgia's though,
where it's sort of like an everybody eats things. So
now you can't get one person putting up these massive numbers.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
That's there's something to that. So just along those same lines, yeah,
it's a little Trayvon Walker ish right, where Trayvon Walker
did not have great college production, absolutely blew up the
combine extremely freakish measurables and tools Shamar Stewart when you
watch them on tape, like the speed to power pops,
the length, the heavy hands, the explosiveness in his lower
(31:31):
body to kind of go from the ground up and
generate power. He just doesn't have a pass rush move like,
he doesn't have a go to move like you know,
it's crush. It's probably gonna be a long arm, right
and then if you can get the long arm going,
then maybe you can get a rip dip rip or
a ghost or something like that to build off the
long arm. But right now he just doesn't have great
(31:52):
nuance to his his pass rush. So if you give
Shamar Stewart to Mike Rabel and Terrell Williams, two guys
with defensive line background that know how to coach pass rushers,
can you get Shamar Stewart to reach his potential? And
is that worth the fourth overall pick? Because along with
thinking a lot about the skill players, you know something
(32:13):
we've been throwing around, you know, Mike dessau Is was
probably the leader in this throwing this around on Patriots unfiltered,
is like, who is the guy that three years from
now we're all going to look back and say, well,
they probably should have drafted Yeah, Shamar Stewart fourth overall
and just lived with the growing pains. I think the
two most likely guys for that to happen are MIKEL Williams,
who didn't test but has the same sort of pedigree,
(32:37):
and Shamar Stewart. So I just felt like mentioning Shamar
Stewart in this conversation, you know, for those reals.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Yeah, that's a good one. I don't on my list too.
I think he helped himself a ton this week. Yeah,
all right, who's he got next? I'll stick on defense.
These aren't in order. I'm just kind of jumping around
Jahad Campbell. Yeah, I know there are a lot I
love do it all linebacker from Alabama. If you remember
a couple of years ago, how into how much I
like Henry Toto is a prospect, Right, this is just
a much better version of Henry to toe and Henry
(33:03):
Tote is a good player. Yeah. So I know a
lot of Patriots fans were kind of hoping maybe he
fell to thirty eight and they could build the defense
around him. Not seeing it, not seeing how he gets
a thirty eight, not seeing how he gets out of
the first round. He might be a top twenty pick. Yeah.
Just the the athleticism, the size, the reaction, the instincts
of the football, IQ, all of it. He's the complete package.
(33:25):
And what's crazy, he's probably not even the best off
ball linebacker in this class, but he's really freaking good,
very good player.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
I thought he was great on film, played great in
some big games for Alabama too.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
That the typical.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Prototype linebacker nowadays, like still has a little bit of size,
but goes sideline to sideline, carries the seam and you
know cover two, like can run vertical with tight ends,
can cover backs out of the backfield, can spy quarterbacks
and chase down athletic quarterbacks. Like if you you know
Josh Allen right, like you can put Gehide Campbell in
(34:00):
a spiral all game long. He can reduce you know,
he can go down on the line of scrimmage and
rush the passer off the edge. Really good player, like
really just good all around football player. And that it's
not something I'm totally dismissing that playmaking linebacker, Like he's
got to bring something for me in the pass rush,
which I think Jihad Campbell does and so does Jalen Walker.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
But then yeah, right.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
But like that play making ability from the first and
second level in the defense to make the splash play,
Like it's one thing to blow up a run game
or something like that, but who's going to be the
guy against the ball carrier on the ground, right, You
know those two guys can do that, all right. My
next one, we've already mentioned him a little bit though,
is Arma Membu.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
I mean, he just he just beasted.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
He had a ninety first percentile ten yard split. He
benched thirty one reps on the bench press, nine point
nine to eight. Relative Athletics score So the one thing
that I would say on Membo that gave me a
little bit of hesitation, it's not even the right tackle thing.
I don't mind that. Like the Chargers just drafted Joe
Alton made him a right tackle, and I don't think
they're complaining about that. The one thing that I worried
(35:08):
about a little bit is that he's shorter, like just
he's a stockier shorter. Yeah, like his a shorter guy.
I know we're saying he's sixty four, and the people
are like, that's not short, Like it's short for an NFL.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
Tackle, it's average. It's short. It's six four, it's below
the fiftieth I would say, said six Really that many
tackles that?
Speaker 2 (35:27):
Yeah, I mean Ozzie Tripilla was six eight.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
I would think like six' four would be like the
basement of WHERE i wouldn't call you, short right like six.'
Three now i'm thinking short tackles. Six' four like he's
on the shorter. Side of average. That's fair exact but
so he's he's, a little shorter a little bit more
of that like, stout compact build but he's not he's,
got long arms thirty three and, a half inches so
he's above threshold. WITH the arms i think the, one
(35:51):
thing though, what you know just in terms, of THE
height that i, Think, is important, Yeah stride length like
stride length is really important because It Might take shamar
stewart three steps, to, get somewhere yeah and It takes
armand membu five steps. To get somewhere and so it's
the same thing THE conversation that i bring up a
lot of The Time, with mason graham where it's like
(36:11):
a little bit of, that, pitter pattern right like we
got to take some extra steps to, get to places especially.
In past PROTECTION so When I watched arman, MEMBU on
film i just saw some of that, where you know
he's got to work a little bit harder to get
out to landmarks and things like that because he is a, little,
Bit stubbier right so that would be my only.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
Concern with him but his athleticism and his ability to
convert that into power is all over the. Tape like
that this workout surprised me just because of how, amazing
it was but it didn't surprise me, that, He's athletic
right that's the type of player. That he is and,
to your point If You. Sign ronnie stanley even If
(36:52):
You sign cam robinson And You draft arman membu to,
play right tackle and then you have your left tackle and,
your right tackle you're.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
In, pretty shape yeah and then it's we know and
when who's? Gonna Be, Back david andrews and then it's
just figuring out. That left, card all? Right who's next
let's SEE who did? I? Get to UH this is
i know he's, on Your list but i'll. SAY it
anyway i think he's. On Your list MASON. Taylor. From
lsu yeah, really good. Workout really good he's just. Like,
so POLISHED yeah which i think, he's twenty right he's
(37:21):
twenty years old and he and this is again it's
all over the tape you SEE. It at lsu like
he's really advanced, for his age just as a, football
player's technique his ability to, see the field. Things like
that so what stood out to me not so much like,
the number testing but like going through, the gauntlet right
going through some of the, on field drills like the,
(37:41):
pass catching drills hitting. THE blocking sled a lot of the.
TIGHT ends struggled i was underwhelmed with the tight end workout.
AS a whole i Should note That warren and loveland,
didn't work Out and gunner helm sprained his ankle before
he had a, chance to run so. That didn't help
but he's just so advanced for where he's at. At
this point when It Comes, to mason. Taylor, it's impressive.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
Yeah really just, Natural hands catcher like, through that gauntlet it.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
Just looked easy.
Speaker 2 (38:07):
He looked smooth he was right. On the line it
didn't look he wasn't fighting the. Ball at all he's.
An impressive player, and you know you can tell with
some of those, guys that, they're you know. Sons, of
coaches yeah like they just have such great or sons.
OF former players i should.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Say they have he is a coach? Now does coach
he's like He, might have No he's at miami. Like,
THE you, yeah I think if, I'M remembering correct i
think he's one of those like director of player. Development,
OR something Yeah i if, I'M remembering correct i didn't
have him on my list because he didn't he. Didn't
do it he's the defensive ends COACH.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
At, the u okay so He Didn't do mason taylor
didn't do, all THE testing. SO i didn't i kind
of stuck to the testing. Guys for This But. With
mason taylor, Just Last thing mike Rabel Was in jason
taylor's draft class and and the two, of them, supposedly
you know This Is a. Mike rabel story he told
us A story and i think he told IT again
on nfl at work because Of the Of, Taylor, and vrabel.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
Yeah being close in the.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
In the alphabet they spent like all week together, At
the combine So He knows jason. Taylor pretty well and
those are the types OF connections that i LOOK at
AND i think nfl bloodlines and things like that are
gonna matter a little bit To Somebody. Like Mike Rabel
so mason taylor is definitely. Big, Boar guy right he's
squarely on. The big board there's no.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
Doubt About.
Speaker 2 (39:26):
That all right THE last ONE i had i combine
both these guys together because they went to.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
THE same school i. Mentioned, HIM already, wait, i Guess
yeah the. Oregon, defensive, tackles no oh they should both.
Be On, there, Derek Harmon, yeah mark cauldwell they. WERE
both good i always.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
State WIDE receivers so i was Blown Away that jayden
higgins ran at four four seven blown away by that
he doesn't play to a, four four seven which obviously
gives you a little. Bit OF pause but, i actually
wonder now some receivers are like this because they're crafty
as hell. And it's smart is he just a tempo
guy where like he knows he'd like it's not always
(40:00):
best to just open, It up right so he might
be one of those guys that tries to like lull,
you to sleep and then he's gonna and he's gonna
go past you with speed when, he needs to and
might go about. IT that way i love receivers like that, that.
Change gears right they're not always if you're, a six
speed you're always gonna be in, six, Gear right right
sometimes you want to be like in the second gear
right and just kind of well the. Guys to sleep
(40:22):
so he ran a. FOUR four seven i thought he
was really. Tested extremely well he has basically solidified himself
as THE number two x receiver, in THIS class and
i don't think. It's particularly, close You know it's, tet
number one And Then it's jayden higgins's number two in
that big, body you know sixty THREE sixty four x
receiver mold and, Then My guy jalen, noel just, like
(40:43):
my goodness what a what a workout all the, way, through,
explosiveness agilities speed four three nine in the.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
Forty yard dash i've Compared Him.
Speaker 2 (40:52):
To Tyler lockett tyler lockett actually just got Released, by
the seahawks so we can talk about that here. In
A minute but i Don't Think that jalen Noel Is
A Julian edelman wes. Welker Slot receiver jalen noel is
A Speed slot jalen noel can is going to separate at.
The third level he's, gonna run post he's, gonna run
overs he's gonna run seams, and go balls and he's
(41:14):
gonna stack guys like he's gonna. Run past people he's
an explosive player and he's a. Great ROUTE runner so
i don't see him getting out of.
Speaker 4 (41:23):
The.
Speaker 1 (41:23):
TOP fifty now i think he's he's a. Really good
player so, those two guys you want to just wrap
a fire through the, rest OF mine. BECAUSE i did
i didn't. DO any quarterbacks i didn't think, Anything, now.
Good Nope terrible donovan Edwards Running back Michigan isaac to
Slaw wide receiver arkansas and then just respond to whoever.
You Want Cornerback Darian porter iowa state Kind Of like
(41:44):
darian port if YOU know how i. Do the draft
that's such a of Course He. Likes darian Porter And
then billy bowman With. Safety From Oklahoma.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
So darian porter interests me because, of, The, size right
like he's. Got some size he's got some.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
Just some size he's six three and he HAD the
longest i think longest arms been corner he's got and
he ran a. Four to three, he's got athleticism. He's got,
size you know.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
IF you're trying i don't know if this is necessarily
where they're gonna go, early at cornerback but if you
want to Pair Somebody, With, christian gonzales.
Speaker 1 (42:17):
Yeah there was some reporting that they're looking for like
those day two. Corners with size. It's veryan. Portant you
Know It. Is tarik woland who's The Guy? FROM kansas,
state i like who went?
Speaker 4 (42:28):
To?
Speaker 1 (42:28):
The, Cults, Juju brent brent like it's, that you know
here's that Guy again that i'm gonna like in the draft,
because big, corner run fast.
Speaker 2 (42:36):
Big, YOU'RE simple, man i mean like that's a good
way and.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
He's agile too he's not a. Straight line athlete, so it's,
like all right he has size and he can move
around like that's a good floor. To start with so,
all right, there all right are gonna get to? The,
downs here yeah two of my guys.
Speaker 2 (42:53):
Are, on this list which you know. It kills me
you know. IT kills me.
Speaker 1 (42:57):
I gotta go i got some of my guys, on
here too so so number one and some. OF YOUR
guys i i was.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
Hesitant to put him here because he. Still killed it
he saw. A Great Workout but will. Campbell's gotta go.
Speaker 1 (43:09):
He has to. He has to. It's he's guard it's
not like he measured, in, just short right it significantly
so thirty two.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
AND five days i know a lot of people are
more alarmed by the seventy. Seven, inch wingspan yeah which
is would be basically.
Speaker 1 (43:24):
One of one it Was the so felger, had this
yesterday the shortest wingspan of any tackle to measure in
it at the combine since. Nineteen ninety nine so not even like,
first round pick not even like guys who made a,
pro like it just it. Has not happened he would
be if you still believe in him, as, a tackle like.
Good for you you're talking about him, being an alien
you're talking about him being a truly generational, once you
(43:46):
know one of. A, Kind Player, goodbye. SWEET prince goodbye
i have another. Guy ON here can i just piggyback,
Off That? Rext, SWEET prince yeah i Kind Of put
mason graham in, that same category not to. The, same,
extent WELL no but, i just mean like the reason
we Were Talking about mason graham is a top five
pick because my scoutner report on you go find at
ninety five sports dot com nice moves like a Player
(44:08):
TWENTY pa and I don't think i said it, exactly
like this, but it's like moves like a player much lighter. Than,
he is well it turns out he's much lighter than,
he was listed so that kind. Of makes Sense What
made mason graham such a special player in theory was
there's not a ton of three hundred and twenty five
pound defensive tackles moving the way. He was moving there
are some two hundred and ninety five pound defensive tackles that, moved,
(44:30):
That way right and he's a Good Player, Like, Braidon
Fisk right bradon fist is. A GOOD player why i
got tarred and feathered for Making, that can no, You
were right you. Were Exactly Right and braidon fisk is.
A good player Would You take bradon fisk in? The
top five probably take him higher than wherever he went?
Fortieth last, year but Like He's not mason Graham is
a and this is why it's a Different extent To Will,
(44:52):
campbecause will campbell you're talking. About changing Positions It's a.
Tyler lockett update But Like, with mason graham he's not
the prototype of player we necessarily. Thought HE was and
i don't know that he played a. TWO ninety five
i think he played probably right around three hundred and,
Three oh, five, but like yeah there's a big difference
between three oh five, and three twenty especially when you
(45:12):
factor in like his arm length came, in SHORT, too so,
i you know for the measurements and he didn't work,
out at all but for the ME like when i
sait like to the, on field workouts but for the
measurements being, what they are it's kind Of. Similar to
campbell is he still? A? Good player yes is he
a good player in the sense that we thought he
was and is he, a good, player you know top
five pick kind. Of, good player no there's significally more
(45:33):
questions now that come.
Speaker 2 (45:34):
With his makeup so the One last thing I'll Add,
on mason graham There's Cops. For mason graham it's a
SMOOTHER cop than i would say that It Is with
will campbell.
Speaker 1 (45:43):
Out of tackle but you know there Is no comper will.
Cambl at tackle that's. The whole point they kept Trying
to make michael ruse a thing that that's not The
Comp leaving aaron donald Out Because, he's, aaron donald right
it's he's Retired to the we're not going to Compare Quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (45:57):
To.
Speaker 1 (45:57):
Tom brady right, if You're Saying well aaron donald was,
with that size well maybe, the tack okay so he
be the best defensive tackle mastery.
Speaker 2 (46:06):
So, The guy no so the guys that that he
should be TOUTING as like, i you Know can be
this kind of guy is Like an end oliver who
is also like six three two, ninety ninety five a
guy that a lot of. People Are, projecting come monday.
Speaker 1 (46:23):
Was it is it? TWELVE or four i always Forget.
ON on monday i think, It's.
Speaker 2 (46:26):
Twelve uh monday at, twelve Oh one the patriots are
going to strike A Deal with milton williams at the top.
Of free agency, i'm saying hypothetically.
Speaker 1 (46:35):
If they Do they will It's, four, O'clock wednesday right.
Speaker 2 (46:39):
So hypothetically if, they You Know. May Milton williams milton
williams plays at like. Two, ninety, Five yeah right so
you're there are some comps out there for. Guys like
that it's just you're projecting at four overall that this
is gonna be a guy you never take, off the
field so like not on top of the fact that
(46:59):
you know at, TWO ninety five i think that you're
really saying that he has to, play three technique like
he has to play over the guard, or outside, RIGHT
you know i say outside like, outside, The shoulders right
so like you can't play him at one, tech or
nos like he, can't play right he's, gonna get bullied
so you have to put him further away, from the
football and that just it just is kind of like how,
(47:22):
we talk, About You, Know xavier restreppa like this guy's
a slot and he's. Only A slot mason graham is
now only A THREE technique now i think you could
probably play like three four end if you want. To
get technical but it's the same, thing right now instead,
of three tech you're A four eye like it's it's
we're bumping over a half a half a yard. If,
that right so like we're talking about, the same thing.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
And you're not gonna have a guy play like three eye.
In for it you're not gonna have two guys in
the same, Field, Right spots right so it becomes it's
not that he's a.
Speaker 2 (47:52):
Bad football, player you know someone that we had on
said they called him, a, Leverage king right he's just.
Gets underneath you he's. Really really strong he can. Get
underneath you he's got, that wrestling background so he's really violent,
with his hands and he's great with leverage and pad.
Speaker 1 (48:07):
Level and all that.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
Kind of stuff but because, of his measurables he is
going to have to be a technician that outworks everybody
like that's gonna be his path to being great. In
the league and that's it just feels a little a
little rich. At, four overall yeah for that that kind,
OF skill set i, agree with. That, all right uh
the next, guy on here.
Speaker 1 (48:27):
Do you want to do a is me at colpa.
The RIGHT word now i want to do a met. Colpa
on test johnson are doing The victory. Lap on test he's.
Speaker 2 (48:33):
On, my list, okay and UH just like I Said, with,
will Campbell. Goodbye, sweet prince uh it turns out the,
question wasn't fast and it was can?
Speaker 1 (48:42):
He, be fast. Well he's. Quick he's, quick he's, quick,
not fast yes but he's also one hundred and, fifty
four pounds so one hundred. And, fifty five uh. Here's
the thing they changed that because it definitely was one
fifty four. IN the pact i wrote down. One fifty
five it was one hundred fifty Four in BRON so.
Speaker 2 (48:59):
Because. I, can't quit Yeah By tes johnson love he
tested exactly the Same.
Speaker 1 (49:06):
As tank out but he. Didn't he did he. Didn't
he did he Did not test johnson numbers he because he.
Didn't he did he ran a four. Or Five one
tant dell ran a four. To four Nine That's different
Tan dell tank dell to. Hundredth, of us yes that's what.
The combine is That's. Absolutely Tank tal tank Tell's also
tank tell's also. Twelve Pounds, heavier tes johnson they showed
(49:30):
it was he was on. My downs list you don't
have to ran this.
Speaker 6 (49:33):
On my.
Speaker 1 (49:34):
Player in the history, of the combine it. Was not good,
if you're, four five five if you're if you, have
a four if you're running a four or five speed
at one hundred and. Fifty four POUNDS that's why I
right wrote dow one hundred and fifty five because the
first quick was four. Or, five five okay so. He's
gonna run you're gonna have him run return routes and
that's all he's gonna do because you can't send him
over the top and you can't send him in the middle. Of,
(49:55):
the field well you can have.
Speaker 2 (49:57):
One field workout he had the fastest go we're out,
At the combine.
Speaker 1 (50:01):
But how long did it take him to get up?
Speaker 2 (50:03):
To That speed all i'm telling you IS is that
i do Think he's got.
Speaker 1 (50:06):
This doesn't sound like a guy's on. Your down list he's.
Speaker 2 (50:08):
A downs list he's one hundred and, fifty five, pounds
soaking wet and he ran a four. Or five one
you can't that's not. A good combination it's. It's really
not you can't send him over. The middle field it's
gonna be tough to send him.
Speaker 1 (50:17):
Down the field if you just want to have run
a return routes and and and you know short, outs
all game you, Can do that but how high are you?
Picking that guy.
Speaker 2 (50:23):
So that was my Next Point, about test johnson because
you don't have to take YOUR victory lap i admitted
that he that he tanked, and all right no Pun Intended.
Speaker 1 (50:31):
With tank dell he had a bat your couching, A,
little bit yeah, because he's. Quick, not fast also to
go Back To the, mason graham thing he ran the.
Fastest three cone, that's not nothing, It's not nothing but
you're going to Compare Him. To tanked, dell, so then
yeah why Can't We compare mason Graham To. To aaron
Donald Is. Not tank dell that's He's a tank tell's
an anomaly to a Different Extent, than Aaron Donald but tanked.
(50:52):
Dell's an anomaly comparing Him to tankd dell is saying
he's going to, be another anomaly and you can't. Necessarily
do that.
Speaker 2 (50:58):
So he's not as fast as this player in the
forty because he's not fast as anybody apparently. In the,
forty but like if you don't want to comp Him
to tank dell because you don't think that he's good
enough to.
Speaker 1 (51:07):
Reach that ceiling like Two two at well is like kind.
OF the floor i don't even remember what Two two.
Speaker 2 (51:11):
At well ran he, Ran pretty well i'm pretty sure
off the top, of My Head but i've i'm sure if,
IT was comparable i would have remembered right to use
that to. Support, my argument so like the floor seems
to be like a Two, two at well who's like
more like production wise has kind Of Been like pop
douglas two ran. Four, Three, nine yeah no. HE'S much
(51:32):
faster i said. He Was Faster now tank dell is
like still the ceiling. Camp to me with all, that
being said my Question Now, at tess Johnson Like does tes?
Johnson get drafted like are we sure where he's?
Speaker 1 (51:46):
Gonna Get drafted so i'm gonna go back to my
Comp Which, is devin tompkins who he's. AT four four
i don't somebody may draft him late just because of
the three CONE and the, Gps tracking speed i'd say
we're gonna. Have like it he's a very specific. You're
gonna use he's gonna. Be gadget player he's not a full.
Time wide receiver somebody might draft him, as GADGET player
(52:08):
and i think he might have. Some success there you're.
Not taking it you're certainly not taking gadget players in the,
top one hundred not. The top, fifty you know there
are some teams that do some things more creative offensively
that may say we, can kind, of you know wiggle
in a. ROLE for him i wonder if a Team, like,
the ravens right does you do some of that some
of them almost like you're sort of using like a
running Back Or like zay Flowers Or. Like. Zay FLOWERS
(52:30):
right so i still think, he GETS drafted but i.
Think he was he was projected fringe top fifty pick
Coming Out. Of, senior bowl right. That's not happening that's.
NOT happening. TOO i know i always say you don't
move players draft stock too much during coming out of
the combine outside. Of extenuating circumstances weighing in at one
fifty four is, in extenuating circumstance especially when you run
a four or five? Tough all right who was? On
(52:51):
your list who was? On ear? List all right so
you you you did that for one, Of your guys
i'll do it for one. Of my guys just both
my guys. Just killing me i'll do it for one.
Speaker 3 (53:00):
Of.
Speaker 1 (53:00):
My guys yeah we talked about how awesome the running, back,
group was right and they're Great Except.
Speaker 4 (53:05):
For.
Speaker 1 (53:05):
Allie gordon yeah part OF the reason I Like all
it gordon, Is, on film like there's a reason you
don't see a lot of, six foot two six foot.
Three running backs it's hard to be nimble when you're
that tall and you have. That Long Legs watching alli,
GORDON on film, i was like this guy moves pretty
well for somebody who's six two. Or six three it
wasn't there to combine like he's stumbling through. Those bag
drills did not get out of the gate good, on
(53:27):
the forty especially in a class that. Is so good
he left a lot of meat. On THE bones so
i was talking about him as maybe like a fringe top.
One HUNDRED pick now i think you're probably in that
one fifty to two hundred. Range FOR him so i
wanted to See More. FORM molly goardon i really want
to See More, for molly gordon especially in. THOSE agility
drills i THOUGHT that's where i didn't think he was
(53:47):
gonna be the best AT him that i thought for
his size he would, impress and no he looked like
a six foot. Three running back so THE last one
i have here is.
Speaker 2 (53:55):
Not necessarily directly Related, To the, Patriots But yeah tyler
booker had a rough combine The, guard from, alabama and
uh THE reason why.
Speaker 1 (54:05):
I still think he's a first round that guy's. An
eagle man you can. Put that in so THE reason
why i.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
Put him on here is because there's always, a domino,
effect right like if one less guy is going to
go in, the first round or is going to go
in between four, and thirty eight then It impacts the
patriots up the Board Or A donovan Jackson Jackson, from ohio,
state right like so like they'd always everything always. Has An,
EFFECT tyler booker i think is still going to get
(54:34):
drafted based.
Speaker 1 (54:35):
ON the tape i think you're gonna. Trust the tape
he's gonna get, Think he's no i'm.
Speaker 2 (54:38):
In, first, round, YEAH okay yeah i think a lot
of teams are going to still trust the. Tape with
him but he would be a out testing outlier to
be a first round.
Speaker 1 (54:48):
Pick.
Speaker 2 (54:48):
At guard right not only is, he a guard but
he's also. An unathletic guard on, top of that also
just people. That were there we Weren't. There On sunday
brandon thorne, was there though and some OTHER people. That
i trust we're just saying that even in the, on
field workout. He looked rough so. Maybe he's hurt maybe
like maybe there's an injury there that we. Don't Know
About but tyler booker was a guy that a lot
(55:09):
of people saw as like a top twenty player, in
this class and he did not have.
Speaker 1 (55:13):
A good day i'll give. You, one more yeah kind.
Of same thing just didn't. Have the Testing And. That's,
harold fannin yeah he's, had you know didn't Really Have
the senior bowl you were hoping.
Speaker 2 (55:22):
He, would have yeah he was like an average to
above average tester and, said.
Speaker 1 (55:26):
Right now, he's you know didn't Pop At the senior
bowl at THE combine and i thought he looked rough
on the on. Field drills too that the blocking rep and,
it's one rep but that. Was, pretty bad yeah you
know the idea OF him being i don't know that
he gets into. The top fifty he might go, a
little LATER especially when i think the more you learn
about this, tight end class, even You know gunner helm
(55:46):
was on my list and then he find out he
sprained his ankle before. He began, TESTING so like i
feel LIKE the more i find out, about this CLASS
the more i like from the tight, ends and well
all these guys are. GOING one way I Feel like
harold fan is. Going, Another Way yeah haarow fan. And
terrifies Me, for the patriots it's The, Compass, john why yeah.
Speaker 3 (56:04):
It's Very Easy.
Speaker 1 (56:05):
He's johnny smith it's the scheme touch thing again and,
it's just yeah like usage. And, All, THAT yeah like
i just don't think he's a Great fit. FOR josh
McDaniels i, don't, think SO right and. I would worry
you know who was good though with that position group
that is a Good fit. For Josh. McDaniels robbie oots
he had the best vertical of any player over two
hundred and seventy pounds since like two thousand and. Three or.
(56:27):
Something that's power that's. Power right there you want we
want them to, have, a fullback right we want them
to bring the full back back and do, some of
that but like maybe modernize it a little bit involving
involvement in, The past game oots looked good. CATCHING the
football i thought. He tested Well he. LOVES bill O'Brien
i got to. Talk to him He raved about bill
O'Brien in. The patriots offense we Talked To, little heath
(56:47):
evans which was cool throwback name there THAT he knows
i Should Have put robbie oots. ON my uplist I regret.
That i, Didn't all right.
Speaker 2 (56:54):
So that's a wrap. ON the combine i hope you
enjoyed all the. Coverage of that we're gonna segue here
into your calls and emails and also. Into free agency,
but before that whether you're in the game or betting,
on the game you'll need. A Game Plan, DraftKings sports

let's get into. The free agency let's. Take these avenue,
By The way tyler lockett is.
Speaker 1 (57:57):
On a In, addition to locke Who Is. In, christian kirk.
Speaker 2 (58:00):
Okay, so all there all of the aging slot receivers. Are,
getting released, old let's uh let's get this, these CALLS
though because i know you guys have been waiting on
the line.
Speaker 1 (58:11):
For a while George. Is in? Warwick? What's, up george.
Speaker 4 (58:15):
Hey, thanks very much appreciate.
Speaker 1 (58:17):
YOU guys anytime, i.
Speaker 4 (58:19):
You Know watching the bears from a distance And mindful
of vraible talking, about you know being aggressive and free
agency to allow the draft to. Come to them it
Seems like the bears are starting. To execute that what?
Do you think what, do you feel you guys the
positions that might need to be filled in free agency
or trades for that draft to Come to the patriots, If,
(58:43):
you will.
Speaker 2 (58:44):
Yeah, Awesome question george thanks for calling in and sort
of something we talked about a little bit earlier on.
Speaker 1 (58:50):
IN the show i. LOOK at tackle i still think
ideally you don't have to go tackle for overall, in
this draft or at, least you Know maybe it's Membo
and be you're you're already forming that with a left tackle,
That you signed so now you're completing the offensive line
by making. THAT draft pick i, look AT that and
i look AT RECEIVER like i i kind of made
(59:11):
The case, for TED earlier but i do love it
if you can go out and, get you, know a
receiver even two veteran receivers that you feel like you
can run, the offense through then you can go one of,
these pass rushers best player available, At four OVERALL that's where. I,
would start, Yeah all right PATTY is an agu?
Speaker 5 (59:30):
On?
Speaker 1 (59:30):
What's up patty how? Are we doing.
Speaker 4 (59:33):
What?
Speaker 1 (59:33):
Is?
Speaker 7 (59:34):
Going ON joe so i got a got kind of,
a funny statement and then throw you. Guys a question
so remember two WEEKS ago when, I called, in I
said abdul carter Reminded Me. Of von miller now who
did he say he molded his game after?
Speaker 1 (59:53):
At, The?
Speaker 7 (59:53):
Combine, guys.
Speaker 1 (59:55):
Miller.
Speaker 7 (59:56):
Yeah, Von, Miller listen patty. Patty's old school been watching
football for almost. Forty years now i'm not, LIKE you
know i don't break the film down like. YOU guys
do i don't pay as MUCH attention as, i used to,
But You know i'm i'm still good for a pretty
good comp Here AND there god i hope He's THERE
for but i just wanted, to talk about, you know
(01:00:19):
what these. Guys Getting, Released Tyler Lockett. CHRISTIAN christian Kirk
I Love tyl tyler lockett since. He came out he
reminded me A Lot, of BEYOND branch but i feel
like he's a little bit on.
Speaker 1 (01:00:30):
The.
Speaker 7 (01:00:30):
OLDER side now i would be All In on christian
kirk to be. Our slot receiver, he's probably, cheaper you
know less less of an injury Question Than. And chris,
godwin but also like you guys, talked about IT the
guy i really would love to see them get in
this Year's Draft is dalen noel, because to me like,
(01:00:51):
he You know he's i'm Not Comparing, to tyreek kill
but just, for his size, he's rocked up YOU know.
What i mean he's like, two hundred, pounds he's solid
and he's so freaking quick and he's so great and
then out. OF his breaks i don't want to get
my hopes. Up too MUCH but, like i know you guys,
talked about, him but realistically do you think like that
(01:01:11):
would be a reach to take him? At Thirty eight
and i'll take, it. Off there guys you guys.
Speaker 1 (01:01:15):
Are, The, best thanks.
Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
Patty, appreciate it yeah good Shot with von miller that he.
Nailed that one that that's, a you Know Everybody says
michael parsons because he wears eleven and He Plays for
penn state and plays the Same Position As Michael parsons
abdual carter.
Speaker 1 (01:01:29):
We're TALKING about but, i you know he.
Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
Uses a lot of the same Rush Moves, that von,
miller you know uses that ghost rush and. Things LIKE
that SO i can i can definitely see that. To
The Receivers so Christian Kirk, and tyler lockett for.
Speaker 1 (01:01:41):
Those, that aren't aware. Are now available they are being
Released by the Jaguars. And The seahawks christian kirk's a.
Little bit younger i've always. Liked the eight I've Always.
Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
Liked christian kirk he has he's banged up a, little
BIT though right i think he's had a couple of
injury years last.
Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
COUPLE of years i know he was. Hurt, Last year
yeah lockett is one of my favorite receivers. In the
league he's. Just, thirty two yeah it's just getting it's catching. Up.
Speaker 2 (01:02:06):
TO him uh i, WOULD say that i don't know
if either one, Of these guys i'm like banging the
table for them going. Out AND grabbing if i, HAD
to pick i would probably just go with the age.
Speaker 1 (01:02:20):
And Go with christian kirk and go with.
Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
The YOUNGER PLAYER but i i want to TRY to
and i have a list OF guys that, i YOU
know what i would do in FREE agency that i
want to get to here. In A second but i
Understand The impulse DeVante adams Because, at, least patriots, right
you know do, THE mean right I. WOULD take adams I,
Would TAKE adams but i want to get away from the, Impulse,
(01:02:45):
of like okay this is a recognizable, brand name receiver
so we need every single one of Those, Should be,
patriots like yes but.
Speaker 1 (01:02:52):
It's just because you like one receiver is. A big
name shouldn't be accused, Of Doing That like i'm I'm Good. On,
amari cooper yeah AS much As I love stefan diggs
COMING off the acl. That, worries Me, YEAH LIKE adams
i i he was in not just one of the
worst situations in, football last year two of the worst,
situations in football because he Went from the Raiders of
(01:03:14):
the jets and still had eighty catches for. A thousand
yards even if he drops off by, Twenty, five percent
like just knock that production off, twenty five percent he
still would Have been the patriots leading. Receiver last year
THE only Thing. I love adams i'm not giving him five,
years or anything but you can get him for two,
Years front loaded like that makes all the sense in the.
World to me.
Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
So THE reason why i the ONLY reason why i
wouldn't be super Gung ho about, adams is like what's
his motivation for coming? Here besides money and is he
gonna come here and he's. Gonna be paid he's probably
gonna be the highest paid guy. In the room like
is this gonna be a country? Club for him or
is he gonna be is he gonna be trying?
Speaker 1 (01:03:51):
To to me the pitch would be if he's getting
because he was, he thirty one, two thirty two if
he thinks he can get one. More big deal you
pitch him, One year contract you offer him significantly more
over that one year than anybody's gonna give him for,
two or three and he knows like he's gonna get
(01:04:12):
a hundred twenty hundred and thirty, targets playing here and
now next year you get to hit the market and
maybe cash in. One more time that would be the,
pitch to me and maybe somebody will give him. Longer term,
security but Like if it's i'm trying to think of
the numbers that that wouldn't. Be ridiculous here but if,
it's like okay if it's if it's a, two year
thirty two year thirty, million, dollar deal yeah or a
(01:04:34):
one year twenty, million dollar, deal you say like you're
selling him on that one, Year twenty million so next
year you maybe go out and get two for forty
or two for forty five or. Something like, THAT fair
enough I JUST look and i don't know that, he
takes that but that WOULD be my i think you can.
MAKE the pitch i don't know, that IT wins but
i think you can. Make the pitch age is a
factor for me in. All, of this yeah with, ALL
(01:04:55):
these guys i Don't Love, It DeVante.
Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
ADAMS tyler LOCKETT i just i WANT to if I,
WAS the patriots i would just be keeping in mind
that you're, in, a window, right, and like yes having
a professional receiver on The Team, Like devanta adams and
let me, just say this If They, Signed devanta adams
i'm not going to have a pitchfork out and like.
BE rioting That i think i'd be.
Speaker 1 (01:05:18):
Happy about it it's. A professional receiver it's a.
Speaker 2 (01:05:21):
Really Good one like i'm not saying that it's like
this worst move of all time or, anything LIKE that
but i just think that you ideally Want A pair
drake may with somebody that he has, some runway with
that he's gonna.
Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
Grow with and that he's gonna play with for a. Couple,
of years yes but if that guy, is not available
which he, Might, not be yeah just getting him that to,
use the phrase he used a professional receiver, in the
building even, for one. Year is beneficial I'm not taking,
adams over like If let's say, higgins, became available, Right
you know I'm not Taking. Adams over higgins But if
(01:05:54):
It's Adams or Darius slayton Or Adams or Amari cooper
Or Adams. OR stefan diggs I think. It's adams clear
adams in a different class than any. Of THOSE guys
And i Think kirk and locket are different because it's.
A DIFFERENT role and i wouldn't load up all. On
Older receivers but kirk has been a guy that's been
(01:06:15):
one hundred and twenty target guy that can can catch
a hundred passes and wear the contact over the middle and.
THINGS like that i know the production was really bad Last.
Year in jacksonville the offense was really bad Last year
in jacksonville, as a Whole Outside, of brian thomas nobody
was looking good coming. Out of that i'm not giving
him a bunch. Of guaranteed money But If it's christian
kirk coming in, to compete, with You Know a jalen noel,
(01:06:35):
or xavier 'strepo and maybe he beats them out in
year one and they take over later on as, THAT
slot guy i think there's. VALUE in that I Don't
think christian kirk's gonna cost you a ton as a
second option. IN the slot i think that that he'd
be a pretty strong signing. In that role if you're
signing him to throw him one hundred and twenty passes
for the. Next three years you're. Probably, overvaluing him, YEAH.
Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
So no i, like the idea a Little Bit, of
CHRISTIAN kirk, like i mentioned because he's. ONLY twenty eight
i still think there's some good football. Left IN there
but i made A list.
Speaker 1 (01:07:05):
Because, i, like lists okay. AND rank it i know
you like to. RANK your list, i, tiered, it okay
okay just like you do with your. Shopping list exactly
so this is, eight, free AGENTS okay that i WOULD
sign if i was the general Manager Of The, new
ENGLAND patriots which, i am NOT but, if i was
THIS is what i would do. In FREE agency and
i think it's, a little different at least somewhat than what,
(01:07:28):
we're you know some people have thrown out there or.
What we're hearing these are the EIGHT guys that i.
Would go after three Of.
Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
Them are tier one Day one signing monday at, twelve oh, one,
big money right and then five of Them are, the
commander's model right like some of these low nuts and
bolts free agent nuts and. Bolts, free agents sure great way.
To put it here. Are my three i'm gonna say,
the last one this one FOR last because i think
It's this guy we've talked about it, off the air
(01:07:56):
is being very underrated in this. Free AGENCY class but
i want to name he's first two. Because They're Obvious
right ronnie Stanley Yep Or Cam Robinson right RONNIE. Stanley's
plan a but if he doesn't hit free agency, For
you know baltimore gets a deal done down, to the
wire they, get It done then i'm still.
Speaker 1 (01:08:14):
Okay With signing by monday. At six pm they should
have a left tackle If They.
Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
Signed cam robinson. IT'S not perfect i know the Game
against the rams in the playoffs last.
Speaker 1 (01:08:23):
Year was horrible he's a, solid bridge now like we'll
still probably be doing tackle in the, draft next year
but you Feel Good about drake may's blind side in.
Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
Twenty twenty five THE one thing i want out of
this free agency class Is that come, July twenty fifth
i'm throwing that date out. Of my butt when, TRAINING
camp opens i do not want to Ask who the
patriots starting.
Speaker 1 (01:08:43):
LEFT tackle is i don't want it to. BE a
question i don't want To. ASK it april i want
TO get to i want to. GET to camp i
want to get.
Speaker 2 (01:08:52):
TO mini camp i want To get TO OTA's and i, want,
to say hey this is the left tackle right.
Speaker 1 (01:08:58):
With a sharpie So Where to Ronnie Stanley? Or cam,
ROBINSON i'm good i don't So and and i'll just follow.
UP on that i don't know that there's another player
available in free agency, that Does That like dan, moore
To me dan moore is coming in to compete. FOR
the job i don't, know with who but probably a
high Draft Pick like dan moore is coming in to compete.
FOR the job i don't even know who else, available
after that, like you Know Like, the Tyron Smith, the
(01:09:20):
morgan mosses like You know That's, Trent browbit no Like. There's,
ONLY trent's yeah i think he's a free he's not a.
One year DEAL didn't he. I don't know he was. Hurt,
last year yeah there's only two guys that definitively answered,
Left Tackle questions Ronnie Stanley. And cam. Robinson that's it, so,
that's one yep the Other big money day one.
Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
Twelve, OH one yeah i would throw an Absolute Bag.
AT chris godwin i would throw all of the money
in The World. AT chris godwin i know he's coming
off the injury.
Speaker 1 (01:09:46):
It doesn't sound like. That's going well, THAT being.
Speaker 2 (01:09:49):
Said i JUST look At I, love chris GODWIN h
and i also look at the role. That, he plays
Yeah and then josh McDaniel's offense, the big slot like
you can run Entire Offense, Through chris godwin like he
is going to be the engine. Of the offense is
he gonna be the big play guy. Down, the field
no he's gonna be your third.
Speaker 1 (01:10:08):
Down. Chain mover yeah you know a straw that stirs.
The DRINK player and i put a. Caveat. On that
Yeah So remember elliot wolf talked about wanting to make
sure they have the right. Intel, on players yep hopefully
they have some sort of idea of where he's at
because if that if he's behind schedule, On, his rehab
like they can't throw a bag. At a guy it's not.
(01:10:29):
A perfect comparison like take this with a. Grain of salt,
two years Ago They Signed juju smith schuster thinking he'd
fill a role and because, of his knee he wasn't
able to. Fill. A, role yeah right If They're, SIGNING
chris godwin i want it to be we're gonna throw
A Bag. At chris godwin because he's healthy and we
think he can be. An impact player not we're gonna
sign him because he's a distressed asset because he's banged
(01:10:51):
up and hopefully he heals to the point where he
can make an impact. At, that point no like you
need to know that he's healthy. Ready to go this.
Is another word, if it's well you know he'll be
ready to go, for week one but we'll he's. Him,
in camp no he needs To Work with drake may.
Throughout the summer they need to get on the same.
PAGE in theory i love The Idea, of chris godwin
but he has to be healthy for that. To make
(01:11:12):
sense bringing him in not knowing where his ankle was
at because it was a dislocated ankle that would worry.
Me a ton so it doesn't worry Me Because. He's
chris godwin but But He's. Not chris godwin if, he's, not,
Healthy well no i'm just saying it.
Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
Doesn't, WORRY me Like I know chris godwin, Can play
football so when he gets healthy and he gets, On
the field i'm.
Speaker 1 (01:11:30):
Not gonna go what if he's not fully healthy Until.
LIKE late september i don't understand what, the problem is
like he's a. TOP ten receiver i don't want ONE
of the i don't want it to do this thing
again where one of their biggest free agent, signings is,
rehabbing you know right up, UNTIL week one i think
ready to get the risk you. HAVE to take i
think It Is what like.
Speaker 2 (01:11:50):
I'm, just gon like what what is the is? It
YOUR money like i, just don't understand like if he's
not the guy that they think that, He's, gonna be
like you're not gonna give him a five. Of your
contract it's gonna be, like three. Years sixty million and then.
Speaker 1 (01:12:03):
You, said bag yes. It's a. BAG that's YEAH i
don't i just can't watch the miss. AT receiver again. I,
can't watch well you're gonna have to take, some risks.
THERE my, friend i like all these guys are gonna.
Speaker 2 (01:12:15):
Come, with some risk like if he're gonna be age
or they're, coming off injuries like that's.
Speaker 1 (01:12:18):
WHY they're Available i guess i'd rather have one Hundred
Percent healthy dvante adams than like A Seventy. Percent chris
godwin i'd rather take the risk on the age for
a guy that had work thousand Yards, LAST year Okay,
I love. Chriscott i do, If he's, Healthy, i'm in
like don't. Get that. Misconstrued i'm paying if, He's fully healthy.
I'm all in but he has to, be fully. Healthy
(01:12:39):
all right.
Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
So to round out, my tier, one you know, big,
Big splashes right So We, have chris Godwin We have
Ronnie Stanley, slash cam robinson, whichever it is the.
Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
TOP tackle available i don't understand why no One's Talking.
About javon holland couldn't agree. WITH you more i don't
understand why no One's Talking. ABOUT javon holland i just.
Don't get it he's the best free, at this point
he was probably the Best Fear and trey. Smith, getting franchised.
Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
Yeah he's an, elite free safety elite elite center. FIELDER
they need i have no clue what the Future Holds
for jabriel peppers with. THIS football team i also have
no clue what was Going On with kyle. Duggar last
YEAR but what i do know is that bringing in
A Guy, like javon holland who is a dude like,
as a beast he's also Going To put kyle duggart.
Speaker 1 (01:13:28):
In his natural. Position, and peers yeah they're back. In
the box they're both going to be able to.
Speaker 2 (01:13:33):
Play, the box, uh you know, guard tight ends, play
the box play the slot if you want to play
Them as Big Nichols and javon holland is Going To,
be kevin, byard you know over the top. Of, the
defense Yeah Just like kevin Byard was In tennessee for. Vrabel,
For years right so it's the same exact type Of
role as Bayard Was A Pro bowl all pro caliber
safety for Multiple Years. Under Mike rabel javon holland's twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:13:57):
Six years old oh we might need rewind the white.
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
See, what conversations okay he's he's twenty, six years old
and all of those things to me add up to
this guy should Be somebody the patriots are very. VERY
interested in i Don't Understand why javon holland is not
at the top. Of the list so those would be. My,
Big three no i'll give your your. Your breaking News it.
Speaker 1 (01:14:20):
Means, i'll, just say, first real quick If You, get
javon holland this IS the, thought i had because, then
it's Well let's Say pepper And peppers and dugger do make.
Their way back how do you get all three of them.
On the field there was a report from the combat
that They're interested In jamie and Sherwood. From The jets
jamie sherwood warts two hundred the linebacker weis two hundred.
And sixteen pounds could You Just turn kyle duggar essentially in,
your second Linebacker and now pepper's is. Your box safety,
(01:14:42):
you're in nickel but one of The linebackers is dougger
And then It's, holland.
Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
Over, yeah, three safety, nickel, three safety dime like all
those things are. AVAILABLE TO you i i Just Think,
that javon, HOLLAND you know i remember talking The year after.
DEVIN mccordy retired i talked to him for about the
kind of the next wave, Of you, Know patriot safeties
and the one thing that he pointed out to be
(01:15:07):
is that when it was, him back there everybody, Had
a home like everybody knew where they were. Supposed to,
Go you know devin was going to, Play free safety
duggar was going to play down in the box when
it was third down with the game.
Speaker 1 (01:15:20):
On the, line you.
Speaker 2 (01:15:21):
Know they, knew their spots they knew where they were
going to have to go with. These two guys it
felt like they had two strong safeties both trying, to
you know cause play. As free safeties you sign A
Guy like javon holland you, have roles again you have
distinct roles and distinct positions in. The back, end all right,
give the, news all right. Here, we Go Yeah a,
COORDNEY ian rapport Nfl Network. And tom pellisero wait?
Speaker 1 (01:15:44):
Where to go. Here we go seahawks STAR Wide receiver
dk metcalf has requested A trade from seattle and the
team has decided. To explore it there is likely to
be significant Interest In the seattle star and bullsidesel to get.
IN to it a big time wide receiver who may be.
On the MOVE forget everything i just said about the
wide receiver position. Five minutes ago this. This is it this.
(01:16:07):
Is the move this is the. Splash for me so
there was a report out Of the combined. He's so
excited look at him with. News breaks break he's SO
excited because i called this shot like.
Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
Over the summer YOUR guy is i DON'T believe these
i can't believe they're Going To release tyler.
Speaker 1 (01:16:24):
LOCKETT and trade i told you all they're. GOING to
reset i, told you all they're going he's not going.
To be available they are. Going to reset this was always.
GOING to happen I will be i. Will stand corrected you.
Were right on so there was a report Out of
the Combine where the. Packers Twenty third the packers are
willing to offer twenty third and A Player.
Speaker 3 (01:16:41):
For.
Speaker 1 (01:16:41):
Dk Metcalf yeah If, I'M the patriots i take thirty,
eight sixty, nine bundle, them move up get. Above twenty
three you trade that pick and then Either a future,
day two pick or if there's a Player that, the
seahawks want maybe A Guy, like pop douglas MAYBE a guy,
i Don't Know. Pick, KENDRICK bourne well i think they probably,
(01:17:03):
want somebody Younger because the seahawks receivers in that they're
gonna be. Their Number one the Seahawks or. The packers
receivers in that reported Trade it WAS wix and i
forget who the. Other one was, they, Were YOUNG yes
so i Don't know. If bourne, were you know If, they, want,
bourne fine fine.
Speaker 2 (01:17:23):
Just always seems like We'll Give you kendrick bourne as
like the YOU know that i, was, THE ie right
i was just.
Speaker 1 (01:17:27):
Thinking young receiver so, that's WHERE possible and i don't
Want To trade pop doug this like if you can
get if YOU Can. Get dk, metcalf so AGAIN that's what,
i would do and that the there is some. Precedent
To this the vikings member tried to do this last
year where they traded up into the first round about
a month, before the draft and then they had two,
first round picks and the reporting was they were trying
(01:17:47):
to package those two to move up To Get either
drake may, or you know just move up to get.
A better quarterback they ended up moving, up one spot
but they. Made Both picks If, I'm the patriots i'm
getting on the. Phone Right now the steelers are, at
Twenty one the broncs. ARE at twenty i don't know that.
THEY'D move back i don't remember who's. At twenty Two
(01:18:08):
maybe the vikings, at twenty four and it's a pick
below that twenty third Pick, from the packers but you
find a way. To sweeten it i'd be on the
phones right now trying to MOVE up because i don't
think you're Trading. FOUR for metcalf i don't. Think you, are,
but no no if you can get into the late
first where you can compete with that packers offer at
twenty three like they should be trying.
Speaker 2 (01:18:29):
TO do that i, would just offer and not to,
cut YOU off but i would just offer thirty eight
and a twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
Twenty six pick is that going to be more than
the packers offering twenty four or twenty three if twenty
three's on the table. Like you could so essentially you're
going to the, packers and saying or you're Going to,
the seahawks saying here's what we would have traded for
a first round pick, to give you but we'll just
give it to you and you can do, the trade yourself. Right.
Assembly required yep maybe they say we don't want to, do, the,
(01:18:58):
trade like no go, Get the first like if you
were gonna trade, it for first go. GET the first
i just think, that IT MAYBE but I i always
i kind of think about it like it gives you
flexibility if you take the picks to just then make
the picks into what you want to, make, him into
right like you know when. You, give him well but
if they say we want a, first, ROUND pick.
Speaker 2 (01:19:20):
YEAH i look i don't think. THAT'S the problem i
don't think the trade compensation.
Speaker 1 (01:19:24):
Is the problem it's. Selling, him out yeah you gotta
sell him. On coming here but he already said publicly
he doesn't want. To come here give him the lily
as million reasons did. Literally asked, him he, said he
said didn't want To. Live In massachusetts rhode island is not,
a long commute.
Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
He literally asked got asked about this on a podcast
and looked into the camera And He said new england he.
Speaker 1 (01:19:47):
Was asked about literally. Made that face give him thirty,
five million dollars give him, thirty. Five million Reasons And
The green bay packers aren't gonna give him thirty. Five
million dollars they the count flexibility papers have hi give,
him thirty six give. Him thirty seven this. Is the
guy this is the guy every single. Box for them
you can't just force him. To come here he has
(01:20:09):
control over. Where he goes we all would love to
drive To The freaking logan airport right NOW And pick
dk metcalf up and. Bring him here we'd. All love
that it's. Not like that if you put thirty eight
million on the table, and, he says no it is,
what it is that's. What's, Gonna happen okay but put
the money on the table and. See What happens don't no.
One's saying differently i'm just telling you to be. Real
(01:20:30):
money talks, don't under it don't just be, a dollar
over don't like make it. Worth his while he doesn't want.
To be here he's made.
Speaker 2 (01:20:39):
That abundantly clear so unless you're, gonna come in everybody's
gonna offer him the going.
Speaker 1 (01:20:44):
Rate for a player of. His, COUNT overpay okay i
would PAY for dec.
Speaker 2 (01:20:49):
I think that's so, easy, to say like, just all
right just go out do what you did.
Speaker 1 (01:20:53):
To me earlier it's.
Speaker 2 (01:20:54):
NOT your money i don't care. ABOUT the money i
care the. PLAYER himself is i think it's so much
easier said than done to just keep throwing money at
the guy and being like more and more and more here,
to take, it take it to.
Speaker 1 (01:21:07):
Make him really, think about it not make it hard.
To say no THAT'S all.
Speaker 2 (01:21:12):
ABOUT i would i would love To have dk metcalf on.
This football team this is not a question of do you.
Or don't you this, is an obvious absolutely one hundred percent.
Slam dunk yes like this is a. Yes yes yes
he is not gonna want, To COME here and i hate,
to say that but it's just the, god dang truth
(01:21:32):
like you are going to have to offer him so
much money that it is inconceivable.
Speaker 1 (01:21:38):
For to say there's been plenty of, guys who, say
you know it's kind of, the, inverse like, WELL YOU
Know i i. I'D never leave i, LOVE this team i,
love this city, blah blah blah and then the money's
on the table. And they leave you can, change people's,
MINDS all right i.
Speaker 2 (01:21:50):
Hope you're Right i'm just i'm preparing myself to. Not get,
Hurt THAT'S IT LIKE i i i am preparing myself
for the fact that this is he's gonna. Want To
Go The green bay packers. Make total sense that is
a team that is a dk metcalf away from Being a.
Super bowl team that makes a whole. Lot Of Sense
the san Francisco forty nine ers make a whole. Lot
(01:22:10):
of sense They Just. Traded deebo, samuel you know we
don't know what's Gonna Happen. With brandon nyuk we Don't
Know if brandon nyuk is gonna be one hundred percent.
For next season that makes a whole. Lot of sense
these are teams that he's gonna be able to go
to at the going rate for the type of player.
That he is that are gonna Be In the super
bowl next year with him. On their roster That's. Not
THE patriots and I just if i'm DK METCALF like i,
(01:22:33):
i don't, know everybody says just offer him. The most
Money They offered calvin ridley the most money And he.
Took tennessee's, offer.
Speaker 1 (01:22:42):
It was but the whole thing was like the, gap,
wasn't significant right the gap between what They offered when tennessee.
Offered wasn't significant. Make it significant i'll. Say this too
he's not. A free agent he, requested a trade yet
we don't like How flexible is seattle gonna be with?
What he wants What if the patriots trade, offers significantly
better that's. A good point so that is a good
(01:23:04):
point in. Terms of.
Speaker 2 (01:23:07):
That but at, the Same, time like brandon we Did
This with brandon nyuk Last Year and, brandon nyuk said you.
Speaker 1 (01:23:14):
Can, make The trade but i'm not signing An extension
doing why didn't brandonyk WANT to sign. I, don't know
no hen want to be here because he. Didn't, trust
quarterback okay because he was unsure about the quarterback position
that should no longer. Be an issue.
Speaker 2 (01:23:28):
It's so different it's so different than saying it should
no longer be an ISSUE When like dk metcalf could
Go Play with jordan love or he could Go.
Speaker 1 (01:23:36):
PLAY with Drake I. Love drake May it's just i'm
looking at it from, the, PLAYER perspective right. I get that.
I get that i'm not sitting here telling you that
because he, requested this trade, snap your fingers he's going To.
Be A patriot what i am, TELLING you is i
don't care what he said. In The past the patriots
should do everything in their POWER To get Dk Metcalf.
(01:23:56):
To new england they should not follow the playbook they
followed the. Last few years they Should extend for metcalf
beyond what They, extended for ridley beyond what They, extended
for ayuk beyond what They Extended for DeAndre hopkins a,
Few years ago beyond any of these guys better player than.
Speaker 2 (01:24:11):
Any OF that but i, think They would like my
POINT is is i think they would have done That
With the Calvin Ridley if calvin, ridley, Was better Right
Like if CALVIN Ridley.
Speaker 1 (01:24:20):
Was T higgins so. Metcalf, is BETTER yeah and i think.
THEY'LL do it i just don't think. He'll take it
we'll see if it'll. Work or not he's gonna have
like half a dozen teams that are gonna be giving
him the. Same exact thing we'll give him something a
little more than the. SAME exact point i wish it.
WAS that easy i wish it, was THAT easy. LIKE
i do i wish it was that you were the
best financial offer on the table and he, turns it
(01:24:41):
down and like buy a significant amount and he. Turns,
it down yeah what can you do if you're if,
you're trying, to you know go on the margins to
get by the. Next closest team, they need him they
should be more aggressive for him than. The packers should
let me put, It that way who?
Speaker 2 (01:25:00):
NEEDS they SHOULD i just i am PROTECTING myself because
i just know that he's going to.
Speaker 1 (01:25:08):
Pick an up i've been talking about this, for MONTHS
now so i have no choice but to continue. To,
hammer it okay You think now i'm going to. Shut
it down i've been saying for. Months, And, Months. Metcalf
metcalf metcalf now he actually requested to be The day
that i'm not.
Speaker 2 (01:25:21):
Going to, happen all right let's let's get back, to
this list because we have seventeen emails TELLING Us that
dk metcalf.
Speaker 1 (01:25:27):
Requested to, trade we. KNOW we know i appreciate. Everybody tagging,
me we know, UH and uh i see you there.
Speaker 2 (01:25:33):
On the phone so let me just go through this
REALLY quickly because, i did this all this homework and
now this, all you know gets blown up in the middle,
of the show and we'll get, to your emails in
your and your calls here to, wrap things up here
are the, FIVE you know i don't know what you want?
Speaker 1 (01:25:46):
To call them what did?
Speaker 2 (01:25:47):
You call them nuts and? Bolts free agents these are
the five nuts and. BOLTS free agents i Would go after.
Speaker 1 (01:25:53):
Levi?
Speaker 3 (01:25:53):
On was?
Speaker 1 (01:25:54):
On was on can? You?
Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
Say?
Speaker 1 (01:25:56):
IT on what i have to see it? To? Say
It on who? Zuo Rookie is how I'm gonna say
it's one of THOSE ones that i have to read
it to be able to Was with the lions Last.
Speaker 2 (01:26:05):
Year with terrell williams. In that room defensive line, Room,
really solid uh, just you, know all around kind of
three four and, four to three maybe plays, the three
tech maybe plays the backside end like he's just one
of those guys that's just gonna come in and.
Speaker 6 (01:26:19):
Do.
Speaker 2 (01:26:19):
The job right he's a lunch pale kind of guy,
in my mind not exactly, the same PLAYER but like
i think He Would. Replace dietrich wise he's kind of just,
like a younger Better Version. Of, Dietrich Wise Right, So,
levi onzrouski uh the NEXT player that i. HAVE on
here i really like the idea of taking A Flyer,
on azizo jalari former. High draft pick it, plays the
(01:26:41):
edge can play that four three end, kind of role
like Almost Like a harold landry. TYPE of player i
really liked the idea of him coming here getting Schooled
up By Rabel. And terrell williams maybe you get him
to that ceiling that, they you know people saw, in the,
draft you know, high draft pick that. Kind, of thing
again not gonna bake the, brank for him but just
(01:27:02):
another guy that you could say that you have a
starting Edge player with, ojalari coming, here you know just
a safe a. Safe bet there, THE next one i gotta,
Have two here i'd go with either is, fine, with
Me uh Dj Reed. Or, Risul douglas right just sign
another starting caliber corner that can play.
Speaker 1 (01:27:18):
On the, outside but, yeah in Theory, either ONE ward
So I have javarious ward IN a Different i think
award's gonna make a little bit more money on. These.
Speaker 2 (01:27:31):
TWO guys uh i actually really like the the floated
idea that's already Out there Of. JAMIE and sherwood i
think he's a, good football player, prototypical linebacker nowadays a,
little bit undersize but can fly. Around make plays nice
little Compliment There. To juwan bentley you can put him
in a little bit more, high coverage stress high stress
coverage situations than what you can do with the linebackers
(01:27:53):
that are currently. ON the roster i really like The.
Idea of sherwood he's gonna play, Weak side linebacker. He's
gonna playage You're Gonna put juan bentley, next to him
who's gonna. Be the thumper that could really work out
with the two of those guys next. To each other the,
last ONE here which i feel is another under LIKE discussed.
Speaker 1 (01:28:13):
Point i had.
Speaker 2 (01:28:14):
PATRICK McCarry down i would also be game for One
Year of KEVIN zeitler because i just think he's a really.
Good football player. But left guard left guard is A
spot that i would try to fill in free agency
on a on. A lower, Term You, Know Tevon, jacob tevin,
jenkins excuse me as, a free agent, really good player
but he's probably gonna be pushing fifteen million dollars a year.
(01:28:36):
ON a contract i wouldn't necessarily invest that much In
guard with on when. He already paid but a guy
like McCary makes a lot of sense because he can,
play multiple spots so he can basically just put out
fires for you on a. Week week basis you're signing
him to, play left guard he's probably gonna, play left
guard but let's say you get in a month into
the season and your right tackle goes down with a.
(01:28:58):
Short term injury McCary can kick out and play a
little bit of tackle too for you for a game
or two and just. Get By THERE uh so i
like him as sort of a likely starting left guard if,
If You know leyden robinson comes into camp and he's
a stud and you don't need him to. Play left
guard now now he's your sixth offensive lineman and he's
kind of your top back up. At Multiple, SPOTS uh
(01:29:19):
So i. Like patrick McCarry so my hall to sum
this Up Would, Be Javon holland CHRIS Godwin or dk
metcalf if that, Dream Comes true Ronnie Stanley slash cam
robinson And, Then, on, Ziwuki Ojalari. McCary rasseull douglas let's
(01:29:39):
Call it In. Jamie and sherwood i'd signed those eight
guys not. On My, list milton williams who is gonna
be the?
Speaker 1 (01:29:45):
Guy they signed they're, gonna sign you uh.
Speaker 2 (01:29:49):
Does Really Quickly. ON milton williams I Worry about milton williams.
A little bit i worry that he is a complimentary
piece to a really, Good defenseensive line Like You have
jalen carter, next to Him You have Nolan Smith and
josh sweat coming. Off the edges he is the. Weak
(01:30:09):
WEAK link and i say that meaning like that whole line,
is stacked right but he is, the fourth, string you know,
on that line.
Speaker 1 (01:30:18):
He's getting a lot of.
Speaker 2 (01:30:19):
One on ones he probably is rushing on your on
a backup Guard In, the super bowl right Like when
the chiefs have, offensive line issues like he's the guy
that's not getting. The double teams he's the guy that's getting.
On the backups He's Feasting because jalen carter's got six, guys, on,
Him RIGHT right and i would just worry a little.
Bit About That, with milton williams, he's also undersized so
(01:30:40):
he only played forty eight percent of the snaps Last.
Year in philadelphia is kind of a rotational player for them,
In passing situations like is he a? Three down player
is he A Product of jalen carter being? Next to
him is that a guy that you're gonna pay twenty?
MILLION dollars to i say all this knowing that that's
the guy that everybody's telling. Me THEY'RE targeting and i
(01:31:03):
wouldn't if they Sign. Him on, Monday i'm NOT just
like i Said Earlier, about, DeVante adams like i'm not
gonna be.
Speaker 1 (01:31:09):
Mad, About it right he's a.
Speaker 2 (01:31:10):
GOOD football player i think he'll be. A good addition
i just DON'T know if i would make him like the,
prized you know signing of my.
Speaker 1 (01:31:19):
Free, agency class yeah he's. A good player. I'm with
you if he's the best player they walk away FROM
this from i think they probably left a little meat.
On the bone But Especially with christian barmore's status up,
In the air like you do need, an attacking defense
you need another one for those. Defense to work so
it kind Of LIKE with javon i almost feel kind
of similar to him as They Do. WITH javon Holland
i think holland is, a better player, but it's like
(01:31:40):
does he play the biggest? Position? Of need no is
he one of the? Best players available and just get? Good?
Players in yes so the reason, why You Know, WITH
milton williams i also hesitate. A little bit i think
there's probably About A dozen milton williams is.
Speaker 2 (01:31:55):
In, This DRAFT yeah and i don't, Think THAT'S exaggerating
like i think that You can find You Can.
Speaker 1 (01:32:00):
FIND milton williams i think he's, a good player but you.
Can find that part of The Value with milton williams
is this is a guy that Just Won, a super
bowl was Part of an eagles team that a. Really good,
culture you know he's a, guy you're building you're bringing
in to be a buildings and he's a proven combined
right and what he's what twenty, six years old so
he's one of the Young. Guys in philadelphia you're bringing
him in to be somebody the rest of your roster
is looking to for, how it's done and you're not
(01:32:21):
obviously like the. Rookies are talented you're not gonna get that,
from a rookie not to the same extent you're gonna
get it. From a guy how many guys they have
left on this team that Have Won a, super bowl anywhere, not?
Just here anywhere it's Not.
Speaker 2 (01:32:31):
Me dj wwise, A Free, Agent David, Andrews.
Speaker 1 (01:32:34):
David, Andrews Joe cardona jonathan, Jones free, agent so like it's,
not that many and there is like this is not
something we've ever really had to talk About Here, in.
New england yep but we're kind of getting that point
where you want a couple of guys on the team
who have wanted a high level because there's just sort
of a authenticity that comes with that if they're in.
(01:32:55):
A LEADERSHIP role so i think that's part of The
Draw with milton Williams or any eagles player, for that matter,
or you know if you were to get a Guy,
from THE chiefs like i think that's part. Of THE
reason and, I you know i would have liked To
see the patriots Maybe Go after joe toney when he,
Was MADE available but i think that's part of the
reason that may move makes so much Sense. For the
bears that's a young football team and you're bringing The Guy.
In joe toney has any active player One More. Than,
(01:33:18):
joe toney yeah he's gonna be tremendous to set the
culture there and help build a program. AROUND fair enough
I Don't.
Speaker 2 (01:33:25):
HATE millon williams I just, LIKE i said i just
have some Reservations, mainly about okay now that he's gonna
if he Comes Here in New England and barb moore is,
not healthy right and now he's the guy, that everybody,
is you know preparing their game plans and their past,
protection you know off of is like we Got To.
Speaker 1 (01:33:43):
Block milton?
Speaker 2 (01:33:43):
Williams you know is he gonna be the type of
guy that can still get pressure and still cause disruption
When He's getting jalen carter type attention instead of. The
SECOND fiddle AND i just i don't. Know about that
i'm not confident. In that one confidence it's important to
have when. You're on road but bridgetone tires, on, your
car truck. Suv or minivan you're riding on tires. You
(01:34:05):

your Revolutionary weekend at massachusetts two. Fifty dot, org all
right let's get.
Speaker 1 (01:34:38):
TO the phones i will. Say Real, quick jacob morley,
who's a. PACKER a writer i don't know if he's a. Report,
or whatever yes this kind of reads. Like a report i'm,
not that, sure but UH Just. Put dk metcalf My
Guess is new england is willing. TO outbid, EVERYONE i.
Mean i hope so, he ALSO added and i don't
know if this is him thinking or if, it's a
report but he did Note. THIS plus may i don't
(01:35:01):
think it is that hard of A. Cell, FOR dk.
Speaker 2 (01:35:04):
Okay i hope, maybe the, coach you know MAYBE the
but i think that Podcast happened after rabel was.
Speaker 1 (01:35:10):
ALREADY the coach I mean the rabel was the, COACH
so Quick i think rabel. WAS the COACH i think
i don't think.
Speaker 3 (01:35:15):
It.
Speaker 1 (01:35:15):
Was McDaniels though let me, ask you this do you
think part? Of the cell and this is kind of
indirect the answer this, MIGHT be no i might be.
Grasping and STRAWSIER you are dk metcalf a little bit
SIMILAR Stylistically. To aj brown Do You think mike rabel
can go to him, and be like LOOK at what
I Did, For aj brown come? Do? THAT here yeah
(01:35:36):
i guess it would help more If He had, Matt lafleur,
HERE but yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:35:38):
I don't know i think TO Sell for dk metcalf
Is All as mike rabel said.
Speaker 1 (01:35:42):
About his money it's all about it's money at the end.
Of the day but and it's not the grass Out.
Here at foxborough it's the other. Kind of, Green all
right let's get to uh? The phones here Will? Is in?
Kentucky what's Up.
Speaker 7 (01:35:55):
Will a bones?
Speaker 4 (01:35:59):
MAKEING weird, noises i think, first of ALL, WITH the dk.
Speaker 3 (01:36:05):
Dk said that he didn't like The, state of massachusetts
but He.
Speaker 4 (01:36:09):
Liked the patriots.
Speaker 1 (01:36:11):
He did say that he did talk highly about the
organization he because the question was would you want To, live,
in MASSACHUSETTS which again i will, Say Half jokingly rhode
island is not.
Speaker 3 (01:36:21):
A far commute, second of all on the Arms Measurements,
with WILL campbell am i the only one That Noticed
that algie trapeo measured in at?
Speaker 5 (01:36:30):
Thirty?
Speaker 4 (01:36:30):
Three, INCHES.
Speaker 2 (01:36:33):
Uh no a lot of these guys actually are. Shorter
armed tackles uh you know Are around that isn't?
Speaker 3 (01:36:38):
That really weird guy has thirty Three inch on.
Speaker 1 (01:36:42):
What do you make of? THE report, that i mean it's.
Not a report some of the guys that also measured
In At the senior bowl measured in Shorter. At, the
COMBINE yeah so i do wonder do You remember what
Trapeo Measured.
Speaker 2 (01:36:54):
Into, senia BOWL no but i do wonder if some
of these measurements the teams do their own measurements when
they have these guys.
Speaker 1 (01:37:02):
IN for visits i, think We Got, like will campbell
that's absolutely gonna.
Speaker 2 (01:37:05):
Be, a thing yeah because of how inconsistent the measurements
Were From The all star Games, TO the combine i
think teams might Have, their own uh they.
Speaker 1 (01:37:15):
Might measure themselves he was thirty three and a half. By,
the way yeah so maybe the.
Speaker 2 (01:37:19):
PATRIOTS measure, themselves, I mean look i as long as, It's,
over threshold will and thanks.
Speaker 1 (01:37:24):
For, the, sorry no yeah as long as it's.
Speaker 2 (01:37:28):
OVER the THRESHOLD i honestly I, understand before kelly it's,
a Little weird but i'm not too worried about it in.
TERMS of, that, i MEAN really what i was more
worried about at six foot eight is, is you know
bending ability to get down and really sit in and
be able to. Block those, Guys You know nate solder
had a lot of.
Speaker 1 (01:37:45):
Problems, with that.
Speaker 3 (01:37:48):
Yeah the couple guys in this draft that, are six
eight the longest one had four thirty four and. A,
half intons.
Speaker 2 (01:37:54):
Yeah they're Making, the thanks will thanks. For the call
we just got a lot. Of people waiting we Haven't
Talked at. Colin pierce yet we have a lot of
we have a lot of short arm tackles, in this
class a lot of thirty three thirty three. And A
Half even JOSH simmons was i think thirty three, on
the nose and You Know the calvin banks was thirty three.
And a half, really long wingspan but like not not
(01:38:15):
particularly long, group in general which is why there's a
lot of talk about are, these guys, guards you know
like there's been a lot of that, even For banks
like banks has gotten some of that, guard, you know
yep flex type.
Speaker 1 (01:38:26):
Of stuff, Too all right Eric Is. In new? Jersey? What's?
Up eric.
Speaker 4 (01:38:32):
Hey how?
Speaker 6 (01:38:32):
We?
Speaker 5 (01:38:32):
Doing?
Speaker 1 (01:38:32):
That hey?
Speaker 3 (01:38:33):
Good all right so a potential trade ALLFER here and
i know it May Be In la, la LAND here but,
i was thinking Look At. The indianapolis colts they. Got
four receivers You Just drafted donnie, mitchell last Year You,
Got Josh, down Alex Peers. AND michael Pittman I think
alex pierce could, be a low LOWER. Level one b
he's coming up on the last year. Of his contract
(01:38:54):
you can GET that outside xd guy still have a
year of control to kind of work out a contract
and kind of see how it works Out Here. IN new,
england i mean you're obviously going to have to give up,
something value obviously think that maybe Maybe Gave. Up joe,
MILTON you know i don't know, how you know particularly,
sold they, are you know The Future, of ANTHONY richards
and i know the coach is going to be kind
of on the hot seat here about kind of what
are Your Thoughts on alex pearson kind of probably bring
(01:39:16):
them in. To the folds i'll take it, off, the,
Line thick.
Speaker 1 (01:39:18):
Guys well just a grab a Receiver from the Colts
Is out Alec Pierce. For, joe milton okay well that's
not maybe there was. MORE in there i do wonder
if You Could throw JOE Milton a dk, metcalf trade
though because they don't have a long term option A,
Quarterback beyond Yeah i'm with.
Speaker 2 (01:39:33):
FELGER on this i was listening to that, you guys,
yesterday and uh he was like some Of The the
joe milton does not have.
Speaker 1 (01:39:42):
The value that a lot. Of people think WELL there's
reason i said throw, In a, trade like Okay Like
maybe joe milton, is this, is you know the equivalent
of like a fourth round pick. In the Trade well
what i'm saying so again that the Reported deal for
Metcalf from the, packers was, like you know twenty three and.
A young receiver could you maybe swap out that young receiver?
For young quarterback possibly that's what like you'd still have.
(01:40:04):
To give up you still gonna have to probably move
up get a. First round pick trade that, trade another
pick but instead of adding the young wide receiver. As
a Sweetener You. Add joe milton i'm not somebody that
really Wants Some trade joe milton unless they get blown
away if it's to, Get, metcalf though yeah. You, DO it?
Yeah i? Agree all right Mark. Is in Connecticut? What's,
that mark.
Speaker 4 (01:40:24):
Hey guys?
Speaker 6 (01:40:25):
Love the combine uh take thank you you guys.
Speaker 4 (01:40:28):
Thinking on that those are.
Speaker 6 (01:40:29):
Really good, Stuff, AS always evan i am in line
With You, on chris godwin, pay the man Great receiver for.
JOSH McDaniel's offense i think he's, gonna be really really
a good player for us if they can get. The
deal done the other Thing Was if tyler warren is
not available. When we pick what is The Consensus? On
(01:40:50):
mason taylor watched this kid. At the combine. He looks
good he almost Looks Like a hutter henry. Type of
replacement definitely for the future for the. Next eight years
wanted to get you guys's. Take, on Him.
Speaker 2 (01:41:02):
YEAH thanks mark i Don't Think that hunter henry is
a horrible comp. Honestly, makes sense, uh you know, natural
pass catcher maybe not, gonna you know jump off the
tape at you with. Explosiveness and speed but just kind
of gets the job, done fast, enough you, know quick
enough those types of, Things with him he's a he's a,
really good player probably. DAY two guy i still think
(01:41:25):
third round is probably the Sweet Spot.
Speaker 1 (01:41:26):
FOR mason TAYLOR i think i think He's the third
he's probably third tight, end, Class now Right so if
loveland goes the, first Round List.
Speaker 2 (01:41:33):
It's elijah, royo you know just from the Receiving upside
of royal is a, little bit, faster you know like
he's a little bit more of a seam runner that
can threaten the.
Speaker 1 (01:41:40):
Seam.
Speaker 2 (01:41:41):
Threatened CROSSERS uh but i look at, those, two guys,
Uh you know as is probably, in in, line you
know fighting for for that tight. END three Spot i
Think warren and loveland are in categories, of their own
and then those, those two, guys and, UH you know
I still think fannin is gonna be. In that discussion
Uh turns For auson from oregon is going to be.
(01:42:01):
In That discussion gunner helm will be. In that discussion those,
types of, PLAYERS all right i know what this call Is.
ABOUT from aldred i know what this, Call. Is about
eldred what are you?
Speaker 1 (01:42:10):
Giving? Up for dk metcalf my? Friend how much hey
tell us?
Speaker 5 (01:42:16):
That y'all, Doing hey, Good hey bar, i'm. WITH you
man i was talking on twenty nineteen at THE draft
get dk and They got A harry and i told
her about The draft in hairy gonna be a bus?
In TWO years and i was right. On BOTH ends
but i traded NUMBER? Four for dk who you got?
It for WITH? Better THAN dk but i would try
to get they get they number one or? Day number
(01:42:38):
two who who you?
Speaker 1 (01:42:39):
Got it FOR?
Speaker 5 (01:42:40):
Better? Than dk metcalf.
Speaker 1 (01:42:43):
Nobody, on, the board nobody.
Speaker 2 (01:42:46):
BUT you're not i don't think you have to GIVE.
A four dk i think the.
Speaker 1 (01:42:50):
Real question is let's say it's it's four back To?
Eighteen for metcalf would? YOU do that I think the
seahawks for eighteen wherever they are eighteen nineteen. Somewhere, In
THERE yeah i'll i. Would do that i'd. Probably do
that that might. BE the trade i, would do, IT
not bad i.
Speaker 5 (01:43:05):
Would do it. In a, Heartbeat, ALL right yeah i have. A, Good.
Speaker 2 (01:43:07):
ONE Thanks eldred i i'm glad. You called in eldred
is the. Along with you alex IS The biggest dk
metcalf plan fan on the let let's unpack that. For
a second So we're sure.
Speaker 1 (01:43:19):
Seahawks are at Eighteen, BEFORE we yeah i want to
FIND the exact i literally was just looking for The
number because i'm gonna HAVE to take i was. Probably
the Number so the seahawks. Are, At eighteen Yes so the,
patriots trade FOUR Yeah for dk metcalf in eighteen eighteen
and they probably have to kick in more than just
Four Called the matthew jude one. Pick, seventy seven.
Speaker 2 (01:43:41):
Sure and they moved. Back, to eighteen yeah in, a
crappy draft the job in. A, crappy draft yeah they
moved back to eighteen AND They. GET Dk metcalf i i'm.
Speaker 1 (01:43:53):
In on that i'm so. Sign of, papers.
Speaker 2 (01:43:56):
Everybody, wins right yeah get a much better. First, round
Pick yeah THE Patriots. Get dk metcalf they picked somebody
at eighteen who's, still gonna help but you don't have
to overdraft.
Speaker 1 (01:44:05):
Somebody at four probably gonna get one of. THOSE pass
rushers yea, a sweet, spot You, Know Samar, stewart james
pierce those. Sorts, OF guys yeah i think we might
have just come. Up with SOMETHING and if i gotta
Throw In the Jude on pick i'll throw on sixty
nine even doesn't need, be seventy seven one of those, third,
ROUND picks right i just feel LIKE if you, I
don't know i DON'T know for i don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:44:25):
If, That's, enough right like if YOU'RE now granted dk
metcalf is seeking a trade he Wants, OUT of seattle
i don't know how much Leverage, they NECESSARILY well.
Speaker 1 (01:44:34):
Let's i think they're. Gonna, have leverage yeah and lets.
Speaker 2 (01:44:36):
Look at the forty Nine ers with auke they ended up.
Getting it done, and you know.
Speaker 1 (01:44:40):
Let's work in what the offer that is reported, on
the table which is twenty three and. A young receiver
would you rather add the? Twenty THIRD pick and i
have two, first round picks would you rather add the
twenty third pick or move from? Eighteen to four, In
this draft i'd rather move, up another year, It, might
be yeah, In this draft i'd, rather move up especially
(01:45:03):
if they're getting intel That Like maybe. Travis, HUNTER'S available,
Yeah i right, AND you know i just look, at, this,
draft like, Yeah BY eighteen and i know this is
kind of talking both sides of MY mouth because i
Just said the patriots could still get. A, fine player
yeah you're probably not getting a true difference Maker at
(01:45:23):
a you Know, what the, seahawks oddly enough really need this.
Is a guard they really. Need a guard and they
are a team that can afford probably to take a
guard that high because they have some other. Pieces in
place they also.
Speaker 2 (01:45:36):
Are a team that has continuously kicked the quarterback can.
Speaker 1 (01:45:40):
Down the road. That is true do they like should say?
They could do They Could probably the seahawks could probably
make better use of the fourth Pick than. The patriots
could maybe we're being delusional.
Speaker 2 (01:45:49):
And talk talking, ourselves into this but like This is
a this is the First time where i've said that
actually COULD. Work for dk would You agree the Seahawks
could make who's easier to project with?
Speaker 1 (01:45:59):
The Fourth pick The? SEAHAWK and patriots.
Speaker 2 (01:46:02):
I Would say PROBABLY seattle because I look at seattle as,
A Quarterback Team like Gino Smith, is gino smith like he's.
A fine quarterback they're never gonna get over The Hump.
With gino, Smith he's. Not he's not they're not gonna
do any Real Winning. With gino? Smith you know do
they get up to four by making a trade like
this and then even pull off another trade and they
end Up with cam ward right, or you know or
(01:46:24):
they end up.
Speaker 1 (01:46:25):
You know with or if they don't or if they
don't love either, of these quarterbacks you get. The quarterback tacks,
you move down you get a FUTURE first and i
have two first round, picks next year you better position to. Get,
that guy yeah as opposed to. From twenty three you're
just drafted and. It's not nothing but you're just drafting
a player. At, twenty three Yeah and the patriots can be.
Speaker 3 (01:46:43):
At.
Speaker 2 (01:46:43):
At eighteen, uh you know there's gonna be probably a
couple of different options for them that they're.
Speaker 1 (01:46:49):
Gonna like it they're probably because you have the wide receiver,
box check, right you're not.
Speaker 2 (01:46:53):
But you could even Draft like a you can start
talking about Drafting Like a josh connerly in.
Speaker 1 (01:46:58):
That, Spot, too RIGHT well, let's i mean do we
want to really play. The fantasy out YOU Trade, for
dk Metcalf You, Sign Cam, robinson ronnie stanley you can
do whatever you want. With.
Speaker 2 (01:47:08):
That, PICK yeah YEAH i mean I think ed russher
or defensive line is going to be where the best
player is, at that point probably just based off of
the depth.
Speaker 1 (01:47:16):
Of THAT position but i or even maybe now A
Guy like jahad campbell's. In, the converse yeah you get that. Linebacker,
defensive playmaker, yeah all right we might. Have done it.
Speaker 2 (01:47:25):
We will, see all right there's a good over under
IN here that i wanted to or not an not,
an over under a you know what? Would you rather
but we'll read This one From. Sean first john he
just has a list of, a free agents none of
them huge names like these are more a couple of
big names but mostly.
Speaker 1 (01:47:44):
Lower. Level guys Uh why just i'll just do rapid
fire through these names and you tell me? Yes or no? How? About?
That Okay NICK Nick, Westbrook, a kine YEAH you know
i like Him and. The raabel CONNECTION He. No dk
metcalf but if he's like kind of like We, talked
about christian if he's, a complimentary guy if he's like
your third Guy like him douglass AND then an x to.
Speaker 2 (01:48:05):
Be, named, Later yeah okay i'm in sounds a Little
Bit like kendrick born in. Twenty twenty one.
Speaker 1 (01:48:11):
Different, sort of, player but yeah i'd. Say Similar, role
draymond jones. Big. Defensive, tackle yeah yeah, like you said
like they can get a guy. In, THE draft yeah
i wouldn't hate if, they SIGNED him but i don't
think he's a guy they. Needs to sign speaking for
a big, At His position carlton. DAVIS the cornerback I Do. Like, Carlton,
Davis yeah hell davis Is the corner i've won yet
(01:48:31):
a little bit of a rough, year, Last, YEAR right
yeah i he was kind. Of danged up he's getting.
A little older but as a Veteran, work with gonzalez
a guy to play, the, SECOND spot yeah i. Would
be in i'd RATHER Him over dj REID honestly because
i think they Need The, size josh. Sweat. Bigger, Name,
YEAH yeah yeah i don't think. They're going, to but
yes doesn't sound like.
Speaker 2 (01:48:49):
They're, going to uh sounds like, they kind of at
least based. Off the reports it sounds like they Kind
Of think josh sweat was the guy that was benefit for,
me everybody else which could be the ONLY reason Why I.
LIKE josh sweat i probably wouldn't pay twenty million. Dollars,
for this yeah but it's a little bit like we
were talking about with. The linebackers before somebody needs to
get the quarterback, on, The ground right so like maybe
(01:49:11):
the pressure is coming from, up the middle or maybe
the pressure Is Coming from Milton Williams or Mason Graham
Or Christian. Barmore kean white but those guys are, not,
sack guys right. They're Pressure Guys so josh sweat comes
in and he just, cleans, it up right and if
he has, twelve cleanup, sacks next year someone got, the,
quarterback down right someone got us off the field? On,
(01:49:32):
Third down Right, Drake green, Law deuce Guy. Dray green
law he's coming, off, an, injury, Right, Yes Yeah no, zach,
bond no see HE'S the guy i really think was
benefiting from The.
Speaker 1 (01:49:47):
System, FROM fanjio yeah i think he was a, really good.
SITUATION good player i don't think he's gonna be Worth
to the patriots what he's worth to.
Speaker 2 (01:49:55):
Some other teams different player reminds me a Little Bit
of Van Noy, with, bill belichick right, like, we're like.
Speaker 1 (01:50:02):
Yeah like, just, perfect here yeah and that was. What it, was,
And yeah no i'm Good On, zachon, nick, BOLTON yes
yes i pff has was like the thirtieth, best FREE
agent which i. Think is nuts we Were Both big
nick bolton guys, in that draft and every year we've
got to watch and make Plays In. The, super, bowl,
yeah yeah Definitely You know, nick bolton, yep all right?
(01:50:23):
Is that it those are the those are.
Speaker 7 (01:50:25):
The.
Speaker 2 (01:50:25):
Main ones yep, another question here. Draft Question, yep uh
so earlier, in the year this IS this is i.
Think pretty accurate earlier in the Year It was Will Campbell, versus, calvin,
banks right yeah for the.
Speaker 1 (01:50:37):
Top tackle spot.
Speaker 2 (01:50:38):
Now it Feels like It's. Campbell VERSUS membo but i
understand why post. Measurements and combine It's not Now. Banks
versus membo so basically because. Of the, Combine you know
banks and memboo both checked that. THIRTY three threshold i.
Speaker 1 (01:50:53):
Guess it's not.
Speaker 2 (01:50:55):
IT could be I think The membo versus campbell debates
are who's gonna be the first? Offensive lineman taken not
necessarily he's gonna be, the first tackle but overall. OFFENSIVE
lineman taken I Don't think kelvin banks is in the
conversation to be the. First, lineman taking no it's that's
a good way. To Put, IT like membu i think
through the pre draft Process. Is, past banks yeah and
(01:51:16):
it's it's, tackle versus guard not one tackle versus.
Speaker 6 (01:51:19):
THE.
Speaker 1 (01:51:19):
OTHER tackle yep i, agree with that, and you know
The Thing, with calvin banks he has fallen a, little
too much like he's kind of gotten a. Little Too Player,
BUT calvin banks i think the BIGGEST thing that i
see with him is like the more space he's in,
in pass protection the less body, control he has so
like when he expands and he gets out into on
(01:51:39):
an island, in pass protection it's very he doesn't redirect
very well or changed. Directions very well so like when
you get, those like, twitchy you know explosive rushers that
can go, inside or outside like he has a tough
time staying in front of a lot. Of those guys
he's a power run. Blocking, first guard? Right excuse ME
(01:52:00):
is how i. WOULD describe him i don't think it's
all That Different. From, will campbell honestly. It's different players.
HE'S better reach i get, what you're saying but it's
it's a. Little, it's different.
Speaker 2 (01:52:10):
Yeah IT'S different but i would, say that, that's you
know the knock that you hear Most Consistently with calvin
banks is how good is he going to be? In
pass protection because of, his body controlling his change of direction,
ability on tape it gets a little dicey.
Speaker 1 (01:52:25):
Sometimes for.
Speaker 2 (01:52:26):
Him out, there all right this is A One, from
David maine and i've tried to answer this question a.
Million different ways hopefully you can maybe help me out. Of,
your alps well you please explain how one inch of
arm length can be that big of. A deal breaker
i can't wrap my. HEAD around it.
Speaker 1 (01:52:44):
I think the biggest thing is the threshold used to be.
Speaker 2 (01:52:48):
Thirty Four Inches then rashaan slater comes in plays a
great left tackle at, thirty three inches so everybody opens
their mind up to. Thirty three inches so when we
go from thirty four to thirty three to thirty, two and,
five a's like think about how, far we've come especially.
Speaker 1 (01:53:04):
When players are getting bigger and people say that's. Only,
two inches well, first of all it's an inch really.
On each side. Because you're measuring the measurement is one arm.
The other thing and this is, a little abstract but
maybe this is the best way. To Put It and
bob soci wrote a great piece on this on ninety
Eight five the Sports on dot com. Earlier this week
think back to the. Opener this season do you remember
how that? Game was decided Which game chiefs ravens first game. Of,
(01:53:31):
the year no it was a, Long, time ago isaiah likely, by. A,
toe right yeah what we'll just say it was like
two a three ace, of, An inch right that's just.
How football works sometimes it is really. On the margins
there is no tangible way, to show it but you
see it. In The Results it kenbrell tompkins. In the
(01:53:52):
pasket who IS the corner i? Should know This Oh, Is,
marcus williams right and you see how close that Ball
Gets to, marcus william's hand just Over him with brady.
Dropping it in if in corners a different one writes,
a different threshold but if his arm is a quarter of, an,
inch longer. Yeah nobody Knows unicorn show ponies wears the
(01:54:13):
beef is, some, insane sentence yeah instead of an Iconic part.
Of patriots, culture so like it's not it's hard to point,
to it tangibly but it's it's you're gonna hate me.
For how cheesy this Is the al pacino speech From.
Any given sunday the inches we need are. Everywhere around.
Us you are that's kind of what it is you wanted.
(01:54:34):
Me to explain it is that can you do? BETTER
than that i mean that that's the easiest way.
Speaker 2 (01:54:40):
TO explain it i think the biggest thing, with it
though is that When You watch will, campbell on film
and we talked about this, before the combine there are
concerns about him being a shorter arm tackle that show up.
On the tape if it didn't show up, on THE
tape then i wouldn't be as Much, Of a okay
(01:55:00):
i'm out.
Speaker 3 (01:55:01):
On this.
Speaker 2 (01:55:01):
Now you know the biggest thing is is that he
has to be very aggressive in pass protection because he
can't just sit back and use his length to extend and.
Buy himself time so he comes out and he sets
aggressively out. In pass protection so a lot of those,
twitched up, Rushers You, know kyle Kinnard You, know shamar
stewart you, know those guys all they were doing was
(01:55:24):
they were just swimming right over him and going to,
the inside right so he, would come out there would
be this big gap now off his inside hip and
these guys are just inside, countering. All, Day right yeah
and a lot of that is because of, his arm
length because he can't extend and he can't.
Speaker 1 (01:55:39):
Get out there so how is that going? To, be
fixed like how are we going?
Speaker 2 (01:55:44):
To fix that is a question that teams need to
ask and if you then ask him to set, more, inside,
out now well now he's going to be playing with
a short, corner right now he's not going to be
able to protect the. Edge as well so his skill
set and his body. Type scream guard the question is
for a Team like the patriots who are so desperate, for,
(01:56:05):
tackle help like do you just see if he?
Speaker 4 (01:56:08):
Can?
Speaker 1 (01:56:08):
Do it right because he's done. It in college it's
it's if you believe he is, a, generational talent like
because that's what he'd have to be, to play tackle
to be a. Truly weird talent. You do it, But,
just remember evan when you add up, all those inches
that's the difference between.
Speaker 2 (01:56:20):
Winning and losing, oh my, goodness, All, right uh victor, Bring.
Us home victor Victor is.
Speaker 1 (01:56:25):
In florida, movie hey guys? How? You?
Speaker 7 (01:56:28):
Doing, Hey Good okay so i've just been running the
draft situation in my head and kind Of thinking If
carter and hunter are gone at for If You, are
elliott wolf what?
Speaker 4 (01:56:40):
Do you do.
Speaker 1 (01:56:43):
This is the big question that that's the. Number one
question that's a good way to. End The.
Speaker 2 (01:56:46):
Show thanks victor this is the number one question that
we're gonna be answering for the next month.
Speaker 1 (01:56:50):
And a half go back to the beginning, of the
show because this was. My, opening take yeah if you
can get tackle address, and free agency who do you
think is the best football player? On the board, Is
it McMillan Is It? Still will campbell Is It? Still
mason Graham Is? It will Johnson Is? It ashton Genty Is?
It tyler Warren Is? It? Calvin banks like and there
is gonna be arguments for all. Of those players you
(01:57:11):
just do who helps your football team the most? From that?
GROUP fair enough i think that the number one obvious
answer is, dump the pick like somebody. Come, trade up
well but. Here's some problem if there's someone. Take the pick.
Not that simple, take the pick, it'd be great. But
take it, THEY might.
Speaker 2 (01:57:28):
Not i understand but, that's number ONE Right and i
we've both said this take in DIFFERENT ways because i
think it annoys both of us that everybody just assumes
you can.
Speaker 1 (01:57:38):
Just.
Speaker 2 (01:57:39):
Trade down right you. Can't trade that it's. Not that
automatic it takes. Two to tango number one option is,
to trade down no. Doubt about it NUMBER two option
i would probably go best player available at, a premium
position whether, that's pass Rusher that's armand. Membu at Tackle
You think tyler warren can be a number one you
know option, in, An, offense right like those are, All
(01:57:59):
Pre positions ted, MACMILLAN to me i would probably steer.
IN that direction, i think, THAT you know i know
that's a little bit of a COP out because i,
didn't Pick anybody but i'm just saying that whoever they
think is the best player at. An impact position.
Speaker 1 (01:58:14):
So your your answer is Basically anybody but Genty Correct
or will campbell if you think.
Speaker 2 (01:58:19):
He's, A, Card Okay Right so mason graham is like
a little bit like on the, Fringe, FOR me like i,
can you know pass rush interior pass rush is becoming
more and more, And more important so it's hard.
Speaker 1 (01:58:30):
To say that it's a complete.
Speaker 2 (01:58:31):
Non impact position but it's tough last EMAIL here because
i just like that it's.
Speaker 1 (01:58:38):
Picking on. You Oh, boy barton poland who's.
Speaker 2 (01:58:41):
A fan, of the show has a list here because
he thinks THAT You're, Overrating dk metcalf so he has
a risk a LIST sorry of i think almost Twenty
Receivers that barton poland thinks IS Better.
Speaker 1 (01:58:56):
Than Dk metcalf so i'm gonna read him off and
you Just tell me, Yester or No Let's say jamar
chase is this like last year because he had a down,
year last year but. He wasn't assistant Just, Answer The
okay jamar, chase Is better. Justin Jefferson's, Better, tyreek kill
no not, at this point not at thirty. Something years
old you THINK you think dk Is Better. Than tyrey
kill let's assume it's a. Three year extension who would
you rather have for the. Next three Years that's how i'm.
(01:59:16):
Gonna Do this TYREEK Kill or DK. Metcalf, probably dk
Yeah ty tyreek kill at his peak, was much better
absolutely best. Step in league he's not getting better, At
this point he's only. Gonna Get Worse, Ceedee lamb DRAW
i'm taking i. LIKE Them, Both aj brown I'M. Taking. A,
j brown no they're like the same. Player, To me no,
(01:59:37):
brown is, Better All RIGHT, Nico, COLLINS dk yeah i.
Agree WITH that pooka DK A'man ra dk milik neighbors.
Speaker 4 (01:59:47):

Speaker 1 (01:59:47):

The rookie year he has a Chance To Be. BRIAN
THOMAS Jr DK. T higgins, Dk I AGREED, garrett wilson.
Dk It's CLOSE drake, London Dk agreed frank lens just THE,

(02:00:09):
EVAN oh mike I Was thinking mike williams. For a
second if we're doing the next, THREE, Years Thing dk mike.
Evans UNBELIEVABLE player, but i think YOU know what. I
shouldn't say i think he's gonna Fall off because i've
said that. And He's not But I'll say, MIKE evans

Say Mike, EVANS, Davante adams Dk tyler. Mcc terry, McLaurin.
Excuse me dk there's a lot of old receivers, On
This LIST. DeVante SMITH dk so i WOULD say that
(02:00:34):

he's in like the eight to ten ten. To fifteen
ish really, Good, player though yeah and he's?
Speaker 4 (02:00:42):

About this guy? Kind of player if you want to
talk ABOUT and then i know we got. A wrap
yep if we want to we we threw out a.
Lot Of, names, Chris Godwin, yep, Deavante Adams, Yeah Tyler.
Lockett christian kirk all these. Guys are available there is
(02:01:04):
NO Doubt that dk metcalf is now the best receiver.
Of NOT close and i would even put t DID You?
SAY t? Higgins i? DID you did? I, DID not
oh i would still even if you Want to throw,
HIGGINS in There i. Think metcalf's better so he's the. Best.
Speaker 2 (02:01:20):
Receiver Available yep the patriots are one of the teams that.
Desperately needs receivers they should.
Speaker 1 (02:01:25):
Be Doing well so i'm glad you said that because
let me be clear, about SOMETHING here because i got
asked in this this applies, to, two, Players okay right
and then we gotta Go On the will campbell's. Arm
lane thing everybody's how you're So Obsessed with will campbell
and now? Your, guy's gone like how ups are you the?
Same with?
Speaker 3 (02:01:39):
You?
Speaker 1 (02:01:39):
Oh BOY bart things. Dk So good but i'm Not Obsessed.
With will campbell i'm obsessed with the idea Of Making
sure drake may's. Blindside is protected i'm not so MUCH
Obsessed with DK metcalf as i Am with the patriots
getting a true game. Changing wide receiver those just happened
to be the guys Or we thought campbell was. The
guy available it the top guys available to. Do the
(02:02:00):
job THAT is what i am. Hyper focused on it
is not necessarily No offense TO Will. Campbeller dk metcalf
but if name a receiver, right was available if we FOUND. OUT.
If a j brown requested, a trade today IT'S not
like i, would be NO. It's d k he's the
guy that would, Be all right we'll get one.
Speaker 3 (02:02:18):
Of.
Speaker 1 (02:02:18):
The two right if we found out some tackle, Was
available today It's not that i'm pounding The Table. For
ronnie stanley it's get somebody that you don't have To
Worry about. Drake may's blindside those are just the guys
casting those, roles this.
Speaker 2 (02:02:29):
