Speaker 1 (00:00):
You guys talked about that kind of play leading up
to that moment, because it sounds like it's been a
coaching point for both Drake but also.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
For the defensive guys.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:08):
No, it's happened a few times within the last even
few years of the league where guys are trying to
get the extra yardage and where as defensive players we
like even I had one later and like the last
two minute drive where they're driving on the field where
I kind of laid off I try to push him
out of bunce, and then running back, he did a
good job stayed in bounce that looking back on it,
(00:29):
I was like, I should have just laid another shoulder
on him, right, But that's happened multiple times. Or where
a quarterback you think they're trying to they're protecting themselves
and they're over their shoulder and they'll hit one of
our dvs. They'll lower their shoulder and hit one of
our obs that are just trying to grold them out
of bounce. So you know, for us, it's just like, okay,
well we got to play smart. But when the opportunity
(00:51):
comes to lay a hit on an important piece of
their offense, they're not going to shy up. We're not
going to pull up the opportunity.
Speaker 5 (01:00):
You You talked to him last night a little bit
about the special teams and obviously with Monte yeah mc connor,
but also in the first play the game, the kickoff,
Mike said, he kind of challenged you guys, like they
were a top five.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Unit, we need to be there. How much motivation was
there to prove the coach like, where is that group too?
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Yeah, no, there's always motivation, but especially this week when
you're playing against talent like they have. Honestly, like they
played teams down to the wire all throughout the year.
I think their record is, you know, is what is
it to and ten, two and eleven, but they like
they eat Philly, they played teams down to the wire
(01:38):
that are good teams. So when we saw that challenge,
it was just, you know, it just got excited and
you know, being on Monday, that just added to the
added to the fire, added to the juice.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
How much juice can a play like Marcus's give, you
guys in a game like that, especially early in the game, it.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Felt like it got everybody going, yeah, no, he's a
dynamic returners in the league. I think he's just he's
exactly who you want back there because he makes our
jobs easy on specialty. It's like he sets up the
blocks for us most of the time where he can
get our guys.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
To play one way and then we wall them off
and then there's the whole.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
So you know when having him back there, he's just
a perfect compliment to our offense, to our defense, and
he puts us in good positions.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
We've seen this a couple of times for Marcus. Is
there's a picture that Marcus is way ahead of the field.
There's literally ten of those guys with their hands raised
kind of race him down after to be able to
finish off something like that, there's got to be how
there was satisfactory.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
Oh yeah, No, it's like when you see him break
away and you're like, oh, he's got he's gonna get
asked that guy, right, he's gonna get ask him. He does,
and yeah, it's a good feeling. It's just because that's
all we want to do. Is we're just trying to
help the team any way we can. And although I
wasn't out there on that one play yesterday, I know
I've been in that position, so I know how they feel,
(02:57):
and so it's like it's just immediate satisfaction see him
running a no field of no one person.
Speaker 6 (03:06):
You know, I think it is the time to let
the mind and body the laves that.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
I still think there's going to be an opportunity there
to look back at the film and see what we
can get better at, where we can fill in some
of our flaws and weaknesses. So it's a good time
for self reflection. But you can't I don't think you
can spend the whole time in the play bous the
whole time trying.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
To you know, there's a practice and can do all that.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
I think it's a good time to just decompress and
get ready to LEAs come.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Mike said. One of the messages moving forward is we're
not done. We're going to the buus. We're not guys.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
How do you guys try to keep them well mental
moving forward? Though, At the same.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
Time, yeah, no, I think we just have to be
smart with it because you know, as the season goes on,
you get bumps.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
And bruises here and there.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
So if we can come back close to one hundred,
asked close to help start this season, that is going
to be a huge for us going for so I
could have.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Gain Dark said I was get hit because that one
of those things that like do you get any peace
of mind? Matter? Or is it one of those things
where it doesn't really matter because there's no flat food
players getting regardless? No.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Actually, in the moment, I was like, oh, dang, did
I hit him out of bounds?
Speaker 3 (04:19):
I was.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
I thought I hit him in the bounds, and just
the way his team red did, I was like, oh,
I guess I did hit him out of balance. And
then I watched the jumbo tron and that's what gave
me like, Okay, like I'm good and those flags on
the ground they probably aren't on me, and that they are,
it probably wasn't a good call. So it's more like
watching the play back and Okay, he wasn't.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
I'm just curious, Christian. You guys have exceeded a lot
of people's expectations already. You know the number of wins
you guys have. Does that motivate you guys at all?
Speaker 1 (04:49):
You got belief in yourselves, but a lot of people
who did not believe that you guys.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Would be this good this season. Do you get anything
out of that?
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Is there any you know juice that that might give
your team.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Yeah, No, I think when you have a chip on
your shoulder, it always pushes you. It motivates you. It
makes you want to be better, to prove than those
people wrong. But for us, I don't think we look
at it our record like get satisfied. We were always
onto the next game. We always want to be one
week better, one day better. And for us, it's just
(05:26):
every week is going to be a week. You can
lose a week, you can l a week, a week
where you don't want to take a nap, Yeah, any
naps during the bye week.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
It was good to get back out there, you know.
Speaker 7 (05:45):
Game some swun with things, you know, these things that
you know, I know I can work on for sure.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
But it was good to get get back out there
with the guys and get over the course of the
full game. You feel yourself getting better and better, a
lot more comfortable. Yeah, yeah, definitely definitely for myself settling
in as a going went on. But but yeah, yeah,
I definitely agree. Make sense they were playing. Ben's play
was good, he said. Yeah. He also said, you guys
(06:11):
were excited to play. Yeah, it's been a little sporadic here.
And there, but to.
Speaker 5 (06:15):
Get a full game and to be able to do that,
was it exact where you're feeling going on the last night?
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Yea, Yeah, definitely. We were definitely really excited to play.
Speaker 7 (06:21):
You know, we looked at it as as an opportunity,
you know, to to put some good stuff out there.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
I guess a really good front.
Speaker 7 (06:27):
You know, there's a lot of places, a lot of skill,
a lot of talent you know, across that Giants front.
And you know, we looked at it as an opportunity,
you know, to take advantage of it.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
And and we were just glad we were able to
come up with the victory.
Speaker 7 (06:37):
Everyone talked about how much confidence they had in you
going into Monday night's game. How much did that contribute
to the excitement and just your preparation, Yeah, a lot.
You know, it was just really good to know that,
you know, uh, you know, the coach believed me, you know,
my teammates. You know, it was really good to just
hear all that, you know, positive feedback from everybody. So
that does nothing but you know, make me feel better.
(06:58):
You give me the confidence about that reform.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Why do you think it's been a case to see
you seamless with your death. Guys just seem to step
in and yeah, nothing seems to.
Speaker 7 (07:06):
Stop you guys when it comes to, you know, filling
in for certain guys along the way. What's good key
to that team, Just the preparation throughout the week, you know,
close very you know, you know it says, you know,
everybody can care like it started.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Everybody compare like a starter.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
You know.
Speaker 7 (07:23):
Everybody, uh, you know, lock in on the keys, the details,
you know, and and and definitely put our identity hopped
on the kill. You know, those are the things that
we hate your hat on. And you know everybody knows that.
All the guys that you know suit up on Monday night,
we all know that no matter what. So no matter
who's in there, you know, the next a fount of
mentality and we're gonna go out there and how do.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
The same thing. So a special bond on this team.
It seems like you guys can't brief to each other
non stop.
Speaker 7 (07:50):
Yeah, yeah, definitely, definitely this is probably the tightest group
of guys I've been around in my four years.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Yeah, I would I would say.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Something for surely take whether you're watching the game back
or even just pictures on the sideline.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
When you see the clean pockets that you're able to
give to drunk.
Speaker 7 (08:08):
Yeah, you know, it's it's really good, you know, because
you know, just Drake is such a great player. Man,
if we just give him, you know, the space that
he needs to step in from the pocket and he
can make all the girls. You know, he's he's gonna
make the right decision. We have full you know, trust
and believes in him, and we know if we just
do our job and give him to the space and
opportunity to do this, just like for hisself.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
You know, that's all we're trying to do is go
out there and give Drake you know what he wants
to do is that?
Speaker 1 (08:35):
And how hopeful is equidarian to know that, you know,
obviously the line what it's doing its job, good things
can happen the facts tight ends who are willing to
help out to how how helpful is that and you're
doing your job.
Speaker 7 (08:46):
It's super helpful, man, It's super helpful. And you know
it starts from the coaches. You know, they they made
a lot out of you know, the tight ends and
the backs when it comes to taking care of the front.
You know, Coach mc daniel's really really gangus how you know, uh,
you know, each guy helping, helping everything, so you know,
tied in helping the tackles, tackles, helping the guards, guys
(09:07):
holding the senters.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
You know, we all try to you know, play as one.
And when we do that and we give Break.
Speaker 7 (09:13):
The time space to give him, you know, an opportunity
to make play, you know, get these rocks.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
You know, it's interesting these prime time games, the spotlight
times and people's like, wow, Drake May should be the MVP.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Can and see him every day? Yeah? What continue makes
him so special in your mind as a back?
Speaker 7 (09:30):
Yeah, he just does the little things right, you know,
he's he's super detailed and what he does from what
I see, and I think that that's helped me, you know,
so much of this season.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
You know, each week is getting better and better.
Speaker 7 (09:45):
Each week he's developing more and more confidence and it's
been so great to see me and you know, just
watching him from last year and you know to this year,
he's been great to see, you know, the confidence rise up,
and you know it just makes all of us want
to to do our job even more because we know,
the better we do our jobs Larry, he's gonna play,
the more confidence he's gonna get, and you know, everything, you.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Know starts with team man, and when when he gets going,
you know, we can do anything.
Speaker 5 (10:10):
So afo you live fifteen, You're sitting there looking to them,
Why I say, why are you eleven and two?
Speaker 2 (10:21):
What sort of just immediately jumps here?
Speaker 7 (10:22):
Yeah, I would just say, uh, this is the team identity.
You know, it starts with Coach Gravees, starts with the
top of the trickles down. You know, we we practice
that every single day and practice, you know, straining Lauren
and a guy with the ball finishing, you know, protecting
the ball. Everybody plays a part in ball security. You know,
it's not just the guys that hold it. The guys
(10:44):
is walking as well. All those things that detects details, technique, funamentals,
all those things man, that coach raves hearts on. I
think that's what's gotten us here right now, and you
know we're gonna keep on doing it.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
It works.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Yeah, you guys have exceeded just about everybody's expectations when
it comes to to wins. Has this group gotten any
motivation out of the Hey, nobody believed in us.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Kind of sentiment that you know, we've seen the other
teams in the past. Do you guys talk about that
at all? Do you get anything out of it? No,
not at all.
Speaker 8 (11:18):
Man.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
You know, we we just we just take it, you know,
a week at a time.
Speaker 7 (11:23):
You know, we don't get too much to say, you know,
the outside noise or like you know, people either hopping
us up or trying to you know, tear us down
for whatever reason.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
We just take away by a week and do what
we've done to be the few. You know, there's no.
Speaker 7 (11:38):
Special formula, you know, there's nothing. You know, we don't
use other people's noises motivation at all. You know, we
just go out there every week.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Put the identity on the film, play hard and do
what we can do to.
Speaker 6 (11:52):
Looking for to keep back on on the field.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
For sure.
Speaker 9 (11:54):
What is like is there a little mixed emotions there
and stopping things when you're rolling.
Speaker 6 (11:59):
It is like as the that week is always kind
of a bit weird.
Speaker 8 (12:01):
Obviously you want the time off, you don't select your
body or resk, get your mind back right, get a
chance to see the family being but you never really
wanted to just get out their groove and obviously we're
We're in a good little groove. We're rolling right now.
So we just got to find that balance in between.
And so whenever we get back, get back on the
field and we have our matchup against Buffalo right correct,
(12:21):
and we're bat rolling.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
You don't have that circle on the calendar already.
Speaker 6 (12:25):
I wish I missed the first one, so I'm excited
to get back to it, for sure, was.
Speaker 9 (12:28):
Saying kind of his messages, you know, there's like a
fine line between like resting up and sedentary life.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
How do you take his message?
Speaker 6 (12:37):
Yeah, no, for sure. I mean you can't not do
anything football related though.
Speaker 8 (12:42):
That's that's the main thing you gotta You gotta continuously
work out, stay active to keep it, keep your joint
to your body moving.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
For sure.
Speaker 8 (12:49):
Use use the break obviously to you know, prevent the
contact and let your joints rest up and whatever the
inflammation is in your body to check out and move
to different parts of the area. But but you got
to stay you gotta stay on some type of football
obviously within you pads and your film study.
Speaker 9 (13:04):
And then do you feel like this kind of did
time out nicely for you guys? Kind of how banged
up some of the roster.
Speaker 6 (13:11):
No, No, most definitely.
Speaker 8 (13:12):
I think it was a great it's a great bad
week obviously, it feels much better when you win it,
so and just going going into it, we should be
able to get some guys back after this and heading
to a strong push to finish the season.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
For sure.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
I know there's a million.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
But if I ask you, like, why are you loving too?
What just jump for front of your mind. We just believe.
Speaker 6 (13:32):
We believe in who we are and what were capable
of and what we what we're good at doing.
Speaker 8 (13:37):
I don't think. I don't think we try to ould
do ourselves and try to be excelling the areas. You
know what I'm saying that that's not our game. You know,
we take pride in who we are and what we
do and we keep doing those things.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Well, how much closer this gap? For as long as you.
Speaker 6 (13:53):
Keep winning, we get closer and closer, for sure. But
it's it's a great feeling, for sure.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
I think I think this.
Speaker 8 (14:02):
I can only say this is part of the best
locker room I've been in. Just the group of guys
that we have and everybody who cares for each other
on and off the field. Man and I noticed that
from just the community events that we've been a part of.
Our man's a lot of people show up. I've been
show their facing and continuously helping support each and everything
that we have doing. So I'm proud of the guys
and probably be a part of this block of Romer ship.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
You're gonna miss these guys.
Speaker 6 (14:22):
You're miss these I am going to miss them.
Speaker 8 (14:24):
I am, I am, but I'll make sure to bother
them during TeamWorks on TeamWorks and see how they're doing.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
For sure, he said, we just believe. What is it's
giving you that belief?
Speaker 4 (14:32):
Now?
Speaker 2 (14:32):
Where's that cup?
Speaker 8 (14:33):
From just the work that we put in And a
lot of guys have been here during you know, the spring,
in the summer and obviously going into the season, and
we have some guys that's new and they came in
throughout the years and still contributed to help. But we
put in a tremendous amount of work and I think
everything that we've shown in practice and everything that we
(14:53):
believed in so far, brace make sure that he shows
us in the mean rooms is like, hey, you've done
this before, Like this is nothing new, nothing you have
to do anything extra corectly. Our range is to get
to the results that we want. So I think that
builds into belief, and I think we're going to keep
going on that for sure.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
You guys have exceeded just about everybody's expectations for your
record coming into the ear. Do you guys get any
motivation at all? Kleban from Hey, nobody believes? Do you
guys care about that? Do you get a poosting that
people didn't believe you're starting?
Speaker 8 (15:27):
I can lot to even say that we don't, but
I think everybody has a hear here and they hear,
and I think doubt and definitely pushes people to a
higher level than what they actually thought they were capable of.
So I think from the start into where we're at now,
I think that we all continue to believe in who
(15:48):
we are and what we what we're capable of as
a team. And we're still going to continue here outside noise,
but to channeling and only focus on us. That's gonna
be the biggest thing for sure.
