Speaker 1 (00:00):
Here we go every time. Hi Drake, what's going on?
Speaker 2 (00:05):
How are you great? How much did you and the
team just kind of feed off the energy? You guys
came out with a lot of energy. To where did
that come from? And what was that like to watch
all three faces kind of take it to them From
the start.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
I think it started with coach saying, no naps, you
don't want to come out here and start fast. And
we knew this team has been up in a lot
of games and they had good players over there. They
have some good talent, and we wanted to try to
get on them fast. And you know, Marcus helped us
with that, and you know what a what a what
a return for him and you have the kickoff return,
I mean kickoff coverage. I mean, I think just all
phases of the game showed up a different points. And
(00:40):
I still think offensively in the second half, we got
to put some more drives together to he'll put the
game out of.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Reach, Drake.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Coach Rabel just said that you're realizing what you can
be and the impact that you make on the offense.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
What is that to you?
Speaker 4 (00:56):
Shoot?
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Just trying to be trying to be the face, trying
to be the conductor, calls the conductor of the offense.
You're trying to be the face of the offense, trying
to you'll want the want, the want, the pressure, you
want to you know, the ball in my hands. And
I've you'll try to show that all year and and
throughout my career. So that's what you know, I kind
of feel like. And I know they feed off of
me and feed off my energy and feed off of
(01:17):
you know, what I say to those guys, and what
I say you'll mean something to them. So just uh,
you'll know me wheneversity hits, you know, I got to respond.
And then from there, I just got to be, you know,
the same guy, the same guy every day, you know,
don't try to change and just be myself. That's what
the guys you like the most.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
So I was just gonna stay on Coach Rabel. You
hear those m v P chants a lot, whether you're
here them or not, they're there. Do you think he's
mounting maybe a campaign for Coach of the Year.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:42):
He also promised to shave the mustache. Are you happy
or said about it exactly?
Speaker 3 (01:46):
I thought it looked good.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
I think it was for a great cause I think
he uh man, I think you know the awards, then
he'll probably say the same thing. He's your word about
each and every week, and that stuff will come. But
you know, he's got my vote, and he's got a
lot of people's vote. He's everybody's you know in this
organization and you know, in that locker room, and I'm
sure across the league.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Your coach reference they hit the other quarterback god and
playing through the whistle, and he intimated that that that
might have been a subtle reminder to you on certain
plays on being careful about being taken down hard. Uh So,
I guess two quick questions. Did that resonate with you
in any fashion? And was there any winking or eye
contact from your coach after that play?
Speaker 1 (02:29):
No? I think it's ah, you know something that that's
been across the league that showed up with with quarterbacks
near the boundary or near the sideline, just kind of
relaxing and and uh, I think I learned last year
the Chargers, I had one of the same sideline over there.
I got smacked on the sideline. So just be smart
and know you almost got to accelerate or get down
or you know, do something over there. But I think
(02:51):
you know, Jackson makes some good plays at his feet,
so he's tough to he's tough to handle.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Your coach didn't look at you and give you one
of these or anything like that.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Yeah, I don't think you needed I don't think you
need to. You heard the hit from the sin, so
I think everybody in the stadium knew.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
And on the left.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Hey Drake, uh, excuse me.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Just as far as tonight, you know what it went
as planned and what might have surprised you if anything.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
I think starting fast, I think starting fast win is planned.
That's what we wanted to do. I think, uh, you
have some play designs that that coach had and uh
we practiced all week that that worked. And you know,
I think that that's the biggest thing is that you
knew they had a new coordinator calling it for the
first time, so they're gonna bring something some stuff that
we didn't expect. And I think we tried to you
handle the guys up front. They got a great rush,
(03:35):
great players up front. I thought the guys did that
all night them. One sack we had was was my fault.
And I think from there, I think just coach saying
no naps. I think we need to do a better
job and second half of uh, you know, living that
and you know, put them out of reach and getting
in across midfield and putting a drive together. Score touch.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Now, hey, Drake, backups today at left tackle and left guard.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
What was the key for you guys on offense to
kind of minimize that packed I guess.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
I told him I had a full faith them. You know,
we got a lot of reps last year of dropping
back and you'll trust those guys and I think they're
great players, and they stepped up. Like I said in
pre game, I think they stepped up all year. You know,
anybody's been thrown in the fire, and just proud of them,
Proud of them for you working hard and learning this offense.
And you'll staying on the same page and be on
the same page all night and doing a great job tonight, Drake.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Sort of a two prime question. How cognizant were you
guys of the buy and wanting to win going into
the buy? And secondly, how much of a need is
this team in need of this buy for both the
physical and mental standpoint?
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah, I think, uh, you know, won the win before
the bye. You were trying to, you know, want to
win every game, and I know it's uh maybe you
know kind of don't want to you know, leave off
on the buy on a bad foot with a whole
Monday night game. So I think it was important for
us to you'll play on Monday night and you know,
shove up for for our fans. And you know, it
was a game that we didn't want to take lightly
and I think the guys did that. Probably those guys
for that. And then uh yeah, the bye week's huge.
(04:58):
It felt like a long time coming, but uh, you
we're here and we got some important football after the
bye week. So we're looking forward to you'll stay in
and getting healthy and having guys you'll want to get better.
And I'm looking forward to you'll get some guys back
and then make a uh you'll make a pushment when
football you start to count down the road.
Speaker 5 (05:15):
Drake, Have you ever been on this kind of role
in either this sport or any other sport?
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Hoops, golf?
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Uh uh oh, I like that and my brother, Yeah
this summer I was on a roll a little bit. No,
but I think you're back in high school. So we
won thirteen straight. But you know, really I think, you know,
in college, I think we may have won eight or
nine straight. Yeah, football, you know, both in football, but no,
this is this is a different Beasts of the NFL.
(05:45):
So me personally, what do you mean by that?
Speaker 4 (05:50):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (05:50):
My play? Oh with uh darn, Sorry, I don't know
what you're.
Speaker 5 (05:54):
Asking you kind of backbone pens wins.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Oh shoot, I wish vers it was all me. Was
a lot of people in this this locker room insoriation
that that play, you know, a big role in us
winning games and should just like you, you know, showing
up every day and making funny off of being in
the locker room on a Friday asking us question at
the practice. You know, these guys are the same thing.
They show up every day and you know they want
to get better. And I think he was proud of
(06:22):
the guys from this team we have and I love
being around them. Yeah, Drake, they score to make a
two possession game, so kind of was there already discussion
going into your final drive just to ice the game?
Speaker 4 (06:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (06:34):
It was.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
It was big.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
You know, it was big in the in the second half.
You knew that, you know, they got a you know,
a good offense and you can move the ball. So
we had to put a groud together and put one
down at the end to kick a field goal. And
like I said, we won't be satisfied with that, and
you've got to try to punch it in. You'll get
the game really out of reach. But you know, defense
has big made big stops in the fourth quarter all
year long, and you're just proud of these guys, like
I said, and you know the good Lord is uh
as True is right, and we gotta keep going. So
(06:57):
thank you, guys, Thank you
