Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's going on. Can see y'all, we haven't seen you. Uh,
events got the Uh. What are your first impressions of
coach Rabel? What it's been like for you so far? Yeah,
it's been awesome. You know, it's been great with coach.
He's coming here and it seems like he's been here
a while. He's just he's so comfortable being and the
head coach. He's done it before, He's done High Little
One a lot of games. So I'm looking forward to

(00:21):
getting things going. You can see he's trying to kind
of install the new identity, and I think we're building
towards that and just working and just trusting in his ways.
And I think everybody's kind of kind of, you know,
catching the stride as we come. You come off the
first week of Phase two, you're Will Campbell to say,
I will protecting my quarterback. Yeah, you know, listen to

(00:41):
it live. I mean, man, it gets you going. Each
your juice is going. I think it makes you want
to go out there and play football now. So you know,
pump that you know, we picked Will and we got
a chance to meet him when he came in and
flew in on Friday, So you'll pump to get things
going and obviously you know that it seems like a football
player that's what you want around here. Have been like
working with joshing games so far, Yeah, it's been great.

(01:03):
You know, I think you know, the guys last year
I really enjoyed and so far coarse with games. It's, uh,
it's been awesome. I think he uh, you know his
ways he does it. You know, he's been off the
cornerating the head coach, does a high level. His stuff works.
He kind of proofs in the pudding. He's coached a
lot of different guys. He coached the best to ever
do it. So it's it's pretty cool getting to watch
you old things Tom and see how he does it.
And you know, a bunch of different guys played at

(01:25):
a high level the offense, you know, not just Tom.
So it's it's been cool to watch and I'm kind
of learning the ways and and learn the kind of
ins and outs of it. The biggest challenge here so
far has gone in terms of just understanding his language. Yeah, yeah,
just translating the language. You know, I think a lot
of the NFL is the same type of you know,
concept or same run game. Just you know how they
call it, how the verbiage, get rid of the what
we called it last year and kind of install especially

(01:46):
teaching these other guys, and you know, we try to
stay ahead of the quarterback, So just teaching them, you know,
the right verbiage and not try to revert back to, Hey,
we used to call it this, now we call it this.
Just try to you kind of switch to you know,
switch the lingo completely and just kind of you know,
reverts the new way and kind of don't speak in
the past. Your teammates have mentioned how much you've grown
as a leader this year. I'm wondering, is that's something
you've been focused on and what goes into trying to

(02:07):
be a leader. Yeah, I mean not something that I
mean obviously comes with a position. And you know, I
like to hopefully call myself this year a leader, and
I think working towards that, I think just earning the
guys respected a lot of the new faces in here,
you know, coming here and work hard and you know,
show those guys that we picked up in free agency
or the rookies or guys we've picked up just kind
of my work. I think I think kind of you'll
start out from that standpoint show the coaches. I think

(02:29):
once you get you know, new staff, new players, you
want to show them, hey, it's not relaxed time. I
think you know, want some You're gonna be the starter.
Just you know, keep things, you know, pushing forward and
where saying more than you know and whether and walk
through or a little things like that. Just kind of
kind of build that and not focused too much on it,
just hopefully kind of hopefully it comes natural. You mentioned
the guys that you had a free agency offseason rookies.
What do you think about the off season in general

(02:51):
form this team. Yeah, I think I'm pumped. I think
you know, a lot of new faces, a lot of guys,
a lot of veterans that play at a high level.
I think you know, we we we kind of found
answers a lot different spots that hopefully can can plug
and play. And I think that's what you know, the
point of free agency is, I think, get guys that
come in here and help us win, help us win now.
And I think you had that. It was some young
talent that we've had in the past, you know, a
couple of drafts and I think hopefully we're head in

(03:12):
the right direction. So I think that's what. You know,
it's guys in there working towards I'm working towards kind
of kind of get to know each other, you know,
connect that's what because we're able to you know, kind
of preaching is you know, kind of learn it and
training and connecting. And I think it's it's it's been
fun to kind of get these know these guys and
get to those guys who's been a bunch of different places.
So it's been cool. Look at ahead, but have you

(03:32):
taken time to look bad some time and space since
the end of the season, you know what you would
like to improve on. Things you want to take away
and build on. Going to the freight, Yeah, I understand.
I think you go back and you see you know
obviously negative plays or you know, sacks or you know, turnovers.
I think there's always in ways to improve. I'm protecting
the football. You're appreciated protecting the football. You got a

(03:53):
you know, turnovers in this league are no good. They
don't result the wins in this league. So you know,
finally prorect the football, you'll find them ways to Hey,
you know third diamond field goal range. They don't take
a sack a little things like that. I think you
can always learn, you know, especially and also protection wise,
you'll protect myself and you know, you know it's gonna
be new coach McDaniel's and you know kind of just different

(04:13):
different protection scheme, different stuff. So just find them ways
to you know, learn in and outs and just like
I said, get the guys, you know, going on to
the right page. What do you like? You mentioned the
protection scheme, seems like there's a lot of on the
quarterback pre snap. I mean, what do you like about
how they controls there? Yeah, I think the balls in
my hands. I think if you want that, I think
you know, I hold the pen last. That's what you know,
they say, and I think that's what you want because

(04:34):
I can. I got the best view back there, maybe
the running back, you know, especially the gun, but even
under center, you got the best view of the defense.
And you're the ones that you have to know where
everybody's at, know what you know, really what everybody's doing
or you know some point exactly maybe the technique exactly upfront,
but got a good idea of you know, what they're
supposed to do. I think it's it's it's great for
me to you know, hold the pen last, like I said,
and make hey if I may see a week safety

(04:56):
coming and the center may not be able to see that,
or you know, the coach may have a seat from
the side of line, little things like that. I think
it's be great for me to you'll take that next
step and you know, taking command of you'll sending the
guys up front where to go, and you know who'd block.
So I'm looking forward to it. I've heard from some
of your teammates over the last couple of weeks about
music in the hallways, Mike Rabel calling on guys, kind

(05:16):
of cold calling at eatings. How would you describe the
vibe very early of Mike Rabel's football proberts. Yeah, I
think it's coming here and and you have your head
on the silver, we'll get to work. I think that's
kind of, you know, the vibe I've caught. I think
there's no you know, spend time outside of when we're
out in the building. You know, Phase one just finished,
first week of Phase two and we're on here for
four hours. So I think it's kind of really figuring

(05:36):
out with the new coaches. You know, who's learning who
spending time outside of you know here of learning it
and who wants to help us win when when the
season comes, and I think that's what they want. They
want to get the guys, get the right guys in
here who want to win and know the answers when
your cold call them and who knows you know, who
has energy in the hallways. I think you can kind
of differentiate between the guys who kind of know when

(05:57):
to have fun and know when to you know, put
their head down and you'll have you know, get things
right and level of investors that this team is being
out of the offensive side of the ball. Is there
are any added pressure on? I think you know there's
there's there's there's enough pressure playing this just in this league.
I think you take it as you guys around you
that that I want to make plays and and it

(06:18):
can make plays for you. So I don't think there's
any out of pressure. I think, uh, I think that
it's the National Poll League. So every week you got
to bring it. And I think you know, if if
there is had a pressure, I think you want it.
You want to know the ball in my hands and
when you want crunch down. What's it like working on
the step takes. Yeah, when they signed to him and
shot fan. I mean, he's one of those guys growing

(06:40):
up and when I was in high school he was
a young young in the league and you had my
fantasy team and you know, things like that. So playing
with him at Madden so it's it's pretty cool to hopefully,
you know now this season, been throwing to him. He's
coming back oboly from injury, and it's like he's doing great.
He's been around, and I think it's just it's gonna
be cool to throw. You know, We're see like, who's
made plays like he has, It's made big plays in

(07:02):
playoff games, who's been in a lot of different schemes,
who's played with high little quarterbacks to see kind of
his point your point of view from different stuff, and
just it's my job to give them a chance and
go get it. So curious, Well, first of all, have
the same congratulation about me, thank you, But I was curious.
You are some possing in such a the dacy. You've
expressed a lot of things in cheap on Baba, you

(07:23):
know the whole I'm just saying, maybe it's slower than
the season. Have you talked about about stuff what are
you seeing from them and just what are you accepting
from them? Yeah, I think those guys that came in
from you came in with me. They were drafted with me,
and you know, we took it upon ourselves with rookies
to hopefully kind of set up a good standard. And
I think I think I've seen from them is just

(07:44):
kind of learning a new offense. I think they're they're
ahead of where they were, you know, when we were
in the first couple of weeks last year learning the
new offense. So I think they kind of have caught
the stride up of Hey, I got to you know,
beyond my stuff. No, be in the right spot, you
know what to do, and that's just you know, half
of it, making the plays the next part. So I
think you definitely, you know, seeing kind of a get
up from them and looking forward to, you know, getting
them into camp and seeing what they could do perious

(08:04):
this saw season you putting the offense together, Josh, Obviously
it's astutely in the charge of that. But as he
asked you about things that you like, like, do you
feel like you have any influence over how that will
come together? Interest of your lifses things, Yeah, I think so.
I think, you know, Coach has been great with you
asking about stuff I like, you know, stuff I like
from last year that we ran, stuff that I like

(08:25):
that they do, that I've seen on film. I think
it'll be I think it'll be good for us because
we'll be able to do a lot. I think it'll
be challenging to find out exactly what, you know, what
is going to be kind of our stuff. And I think, uh,
that's the fun part of it. That's kind of the
chest match against coordinators that you you want to find.
But coach is great about you'll find the matchups and
kind of exploiting defenses when you may know what what

(08:46):
to expect. So I think I'm just looking forward to,
you know, starting the game plan. I know that's far away,
but I think you kind of get the itch now
the game Yeah, David, Uh, you know, man, I think
kind of you know the when me think of you know,
a veteran and you know a leader. I think that's
kind of the standard I learned from from David Andrews.
He was great to me. He was, you know, one
of the first of all met in the locker room.

(09:07):
He was here everywhere early in the morning he was Yeah,
I think just think about David Is. He did things
outside and you know, took me to dinner and you
paid for you know, massage from one of the ladies.
He just does things that you know, bigger than football.
And I think that's you know, stuff you care with
the rest of your career and you know, wishing the
best of him, and you know, one of those guys
I'll keep in touch with a long time. I think, uh,

(09:29):
you know, he had never I think I took a
couple of snaps from the end of the Jets game,
but you know that next game he obviously got hurt,
so to bummer out to really get to go out
there and battle with them. But uh, he's the Nationtball League,
and these things happened. The year goes by so quick.
He went right from the pull into the draft and
all the things that went with the drafts to hear
to play. How did you use the off season mentally

(09:50):
to kind of get down a little bit? And then yeah,
I think it's it's a little different because you got
to learn a new system, so you have to take
a break maybe you know, through the Super Bowl, and
once it got kind of you know, kick. You know,
got ended. Most SUPERO winended. You're kind of back into hey,
got to be all my stuff. So when we get here,
you know, at least I sound like I know what
I'm talking about with the offense, and I think you

(10:10):
definitely got to take a break. And I think that's
what you know this four days are on, three days off.
You get to get a chance to you know, hang
out or go back home or receieve from people. And
I think that's one of the good things about the
off season, to get a chance to kind of catch
a break. And and you know, four days on or
five days however you want, how much you want to work.
So I think that's a good time for me to
take some time off. But also at the same time,
this is just what we do and this is what

(10:31):
you know, I want to do, so offensive Tree this offseason.
Your reaction, Yeah, I texted Joe. You know, me and
Joe we came in together, We learned the offense together.
We were competing every day to super out throw each
other and and practice and obviously he's got a you know,
a big arm, so uh, it was you know, it's
cool for him to you know, get a chance to
you'll go hopefully and be back up. And I think

(10:53):
you saw him the Bills game, his potential, and I think, uh,
he's fun because we got kind of similar play styles
a little bit, and it was fun relating to our
similar college offense to this offense, and it was cool
to kind of be in the room and have somebody
to bounced off ideas or hey, you remember doing this
in college and stuff like that. So you'll pulling for
Joe and you, I know, probably you never know how
to play him again or I see him down the road.
