Speaker 1 (00:00):
Another day at the office. What's going on all right?
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Reporters on the left here, how are you feeling about
your performance?
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (00:15):
I think just just keep going. I think, just keep working,
keep building chemistry. Throws that I wish I had back,
missed some touchdowns, you know, two backs a go in
the red zone. There's just that's what you're out here for,
you know. I think you hurt myself on trying to
make those throws and make the easy ones, but that
that's what it's out here, timing and the guys up
front and batting their butts off. It's a little better
against the defense. We were able to run the football on
a little bit and they're not just playing the past.
(00:37):
So I think we're coming together, you know, jeling nicely,
and I think, you know, just keep on. You've got
a good look with our defense. They have some good
players over there, so we're getting some great work and
we just gotta keep building into joint practices and keep
it going.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
You're not supposed to. You go ahead, do your feeling
work for progression for yourself right now.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
I mean that's what you hope.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
I think, you know, I'm trying to come from this
offense kind of take the next steps as as we go,
and I think, you know, the real test will be
when the games comes and when we getting these joint practices.
So I'm looking forward to I'm you know, I'm proud
of work we've done and I feel good. I feel
a good spot. But you know, I think it's still
a lot of work left now.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Baseball, you're not supposed to talk about it.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Yeah, yeah, the.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Same thing apply if the guys going through six practices
of training.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Camp and as a corner pick, you know, I think
it's one of those things where I'm trying to take
care of the football and maybe they could have had
a few here and there. I think pet Make should
have had one of the first you know practice. I
joke them in him about it, But yeah, I think
that's a I think that's a goal of ours of
the football. And I think, you know, not trying to
like I said, yeah, throw off the perfect game or
no hitter, But I think that's that's part of not
(01:41):
scared to throw them still not gun shy.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
So hey, that's what's interesting to watch is you're still
throwing it into two tight areas checked out after checked out.
Do you feel as if you're an equal opportunity quarterback
at this point because you're still getting to learn a
lot of these players too.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
I think it's you know, it's easy to throw the
check down or you know, it's not realistic, you know,
moving them moving the football and getting big kind of
chunk plays, which is the players you want in games
where you're not throwing the ball down the field and
throwing it in tight windows. And I think I did
a little bit that in the spring, trying throwing some
tighter windows and uh, you know, I think just you know,
through a little more interceptions.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
But that's what you're out here for. You know.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
You try to you know, feel and you kind of feel, hey,
can this work or can this work against these guys
at this level. So I try to use it as
that and kind of once as we're closer to the football,
time start playing some some real hey, take care of
the football mindset.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
Josh Jobs was saying at the end of the day
that Josh McDaniels is trying to take advantage of the
quarterbacks all of your athleticism.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Yeah, do you see a.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
Change in philosophy in terms of how much they may
or may not want you to run the football. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
I mean I think it's it's an even balance of
you know, gain extra hat. You know, you having the
quarterback be able to run the football, he's get extra number.
You know, you're making eleven on eleven instead of ten
on eleven. So I think it's always a you know,
it's a useful and I think at the end of
the day, I make some plays kind of all schedule anyway,
but mixing in the quarterback run game is something I'm
open to. And I think it's always tough when a
(03:07):
defense has to cover that and keep that in mind.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
I think whatever they whatever they put me up to,
I'm up for it. So I think it's you know
that they do a good job and coaches, you know,
want some Super Bowls, you know, coaching the offense.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
So I'm kind of prayer for whatever Mike.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Mike had mentioned, yster, I'm talking about the quarterback cons
Like I get to these young players are fearless, but
there has to be you have to learn how to
protect yourself.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Is that Are they.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Hammering that point home to you, like, hey, we need you.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
For seventeen Yeah, I think that's important. I think I
faced that in college. I was my first year. I
was really kind of running around and you know, doing
some stuff I probably shouldn't have them out there with
with pads on. So I think just taking care of
my body and being smart, but also you know, knowing
when it's third down, when it's you know, near the
end zone, like I'm six five and two hundred and
thirty pounds, go go get something.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
So the offensive line, how are you seeing that come
together after that? Be you know, first those guys are battling.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
I think they're battling using different cadens is, using different pros,
were changing mic points, like they're really getting a good
grasp of it. I'm proud of those guys up front.
We got next you know, next man up mentality. Some
guys are getting banged up and some guys are fighting
through injuries.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
So just part of position.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
They don't get enough love ever, and I think, you know,
the coaching staff and what the off of the lineman doing,
you know, I think they will be doing throughout the
whole season.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Has been going to be impressive with.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
Josh, you know working with him, but where do you
feel like he's been able to help develop you the most?
Especially going through these first couple of days of a
full price.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Yeah, uh, just playing the position. You know, it's it's
tough to coach a position, let alone play it. I
think it's uh, you know, the big thing is having
somebody in that room who you know wants to challenge you,
wants to coach me hard. And you're talking McDaniels or Dobs.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Coach.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Yeah, I'll talk about coach anyway, but yeah, that has
been great in the room as well. But coach, Yeah,
I think he's done at a high level. He's been
a head coach. We've seen a lot of different stuff.
Who's seen the kind of evolution of the game of
football in the past twenty years coaching it. So I
think he's got a lot of experience, and I think
I'm just trying to ask some questions and pick his
brain and try to, you know, soak up everything I can.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
In the spring, you talked a lot about added expectations
and you know, being a leader.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Do you feel like the are is still.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
A point in the right direction here at this stage
of Kevin.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
You know, it's hard to just put expectations on it,
but I think, you know, like we're at think we're
practicing hard we're coming out here in these walkthroughs and
focusing and details, and I think there's gonna be times where,
you know, there's there's days I hear we didn't feel
like we had good practices we wanted. But right now
I feel like we've got a good, you know, head
of steam going. I think we're gonna have a scrimmage tomorrow,
which will be fun splitting up the team. So I think, uh,
(05:36):
looking forward to that, and I think, you know, I
think it's really you find out're gonna have a chance
every week, you know, to go out there and prove yourself.
And uh, a lot of these games come down to
one score. So just what the details and the little
things are about how much of people of.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
Working with specifically Stefan seems like already you guys have
a nice workfore especially down in the red zone. What
does he do specifically well that you like to see
as far as getting open and scoring.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
I think it's just mindset. It's attacking the football.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
You know, a guy like that, you know his stature,
who's you know, kind a lot of touchdowns in this
league and made a lot of big plays. He wants
to go get the football and he tells me all
the time, just you know, the balls in the air
is gonna be mine. So I think that's it's comforting
hearing that from those guys, And I think that's kind
of starting to become something in the receiver room. That's the mindset.
You know, the balls in the air, go get it.
So I think it's, uh, it's comfortable hearing that. It's
comfortable a guy who's also gone out there improved it.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
He makes a comment like that, do you already have
the confidence in him that when you throw the ball
up there, like he's gonna be able to catch it?
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Like, how are you going to build that connection?
Speaker 4 (06:30):
You know you're gonna son that he's got it.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
I mean it comes with me making a good throw
as well. So that's uh, just trying to do my
part and let those guys, you know, they get paid,
you know a lot of money. You know, you know too,
So let those guys make their plays and just kind
of kind of comes off the you know, feeding off
each other, of letting them do their part and you know,
kind of doing mind.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
Stuff.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
He doesn't tell you what.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
You want he here, it tells you what you need
to hear. Yeah, you had that kind of experience. I
think that's huge.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
I think that's kind of what we're trying to build
around here. I think it starts with, you know, the
head coach of telling you what you need to hear
instead of what you want to hear. I think that's
that's that starts a It's a good start to where
we want to go. And I think, you know, there's
times where we need to love somebody up a little extra,
but I think it comes down from the head coach
and it's kind of you know, top down.
Speaker 4 (07:19):
A couple of issues with center quarterback in his cham Yeah,
what do you think is causing those?
Speaker 3 (07:23):
And you think you guys are fixed it.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
At this point?
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Yeah, I mean I think, you know, sometimes it gets
it's fall campus ninety five degrees out here. You have
at the same time, you can't put the gall on
the ground, and some of it's a little pre snap. Uh,
you know, be on the same page. And I think
other than that, it's my part to you know, get
on there and get the ball. So I'm not it's
not a big issue. And you know, I think it's
something that that these guys have figured out. They got
(07:46):
a tough job, they got a not talking football, but
they got you know, a big three hundred and fifty
pounds guy and they're moving right and they're snapping it
with the same hand and then coming up to block them.
It's tough part of them. And it's uh just feeling
stuff like that. That's it's pretty cool seeing how that
stuff works out and how much that stuff changes.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
So pre snap stuff is going just you know, setting
the protections and all that stuff.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Yeah, it will help. I did in college. You'll kind
of sent the line. Me and my center, we kind
of sent the line where we wanted and and changed
it and uh a little bit of that and there's a
little bit of that last year of getting the protection right.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
But I think, uh it's starting. It's it's started to
come along.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
I think it's it's nice knowing, you know, it's my
job to send those guys the right spot and you'll
get them the same page and get all those guys
you know, all loving us. It starts with me, you know,
on you know, uh kind of right out the huddle
of getting the guys in the right spot and getting
the play started and starting with a good huddle. So
it's like I'm a good spot and I think those
guys are doing a good job of, you know, listening
to me and if it's a look that we need to.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
Change it, they've done a great job. So thank you guys,
