Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, Drake, just a thought on getting out there, uh stadium,
Tom Brady Knight the game action is just your thoughts
on on what you were able to accomplish.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Yeah, I think, you know, shout out to the fans
out It was a great turnout. I mean, that's you'll
feel like a real game atmosphere. You get the same
jaters rolling out there. Obviously a big celebration for for
number twelve. That's pretty cool statue they put out out there.
I was able to listen a little bit of his
speech that was pretty cool. So, uh, just yeah, I
honoring him and what he's done for his organizations. You'll
speak for itself, but for the fans, and I have
(00:30):
about that. They showed out and I think what the
guys did tonight had everybody playing, playing hard, blocking, tackling,
running around and I think, you know, just kind of
full four quarters. I thought we kept playing and I
think we're kind of, you know, starting to you'll build
something that we're starting to build the identity, and that's
what coach is talking about. And I could through my
part of technic football, so.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
I knew you were very complimentary of Efton Chisholm over
the course of the spring is work he did during
the OTAs. I know you guys didn't have a chance
to connect tonight, but from the sideline, what did you
see from him and maybe his overall growth over the
course of.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Yeah, he's a baller. I mean, he loves coming up,
ask me questions about routes and and things. He loves
talking football. He's just a football player. And you saw tonight,
you know, making plays. I'm glad he got in the
end zone and then almost almost would have got the
end zone again on the screen we got he got
chased down. But uh yeah, I think just blocking hard,
doing all the right things. I think that kind of
is while we're preaching the offensive room, you know, you
(01:25):
do keep doing things the right way and keep showing up,
you know, get rewarded.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
Hedrick over over here, just how disappointing was it to
start sort of with that fumble.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Yeah, I mean, uh, you know, I was excited to
get out there and treveon taste it the one hundred yards.
It was pretty sweet. But uh yeah, he got a
little bit of drive going, you know, third down and
he just can't can't do that, you know, my first
time out, you know, just uh, you just put a dimper.
I'm glad we responded well that next drive. But yeah,
same time, you you know, I'm glad something I can control,
(01:57):
you know, But at the end of the day, you
just can't play the defense in that position. You know,
when games you know matter, and and you know during
the season and you know, I told you know, those guys,
that's on me. We gotta get back out there, and
no cloud I was able to get there. You know,
another series going.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
Hey Drake, imagine especially a quarterback, when the top priorities
in the preseason is avoiding a big contact and staying
in good condition. But when it comes to using your legs,
how much is the balance of well, I don't want
to take off run get too much contact versus well,
they're gonna give me all that green grass got take it.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
I think you know when they play man or they're
you know, down in the red zone and sitting back
in zone and you know, playing too. I I gotta,
you know, play football, that's you know, my natural instinct.
You obviously wish you could have, you know, hit some
more passes, but at the same time that we run
the ball well all night, and there's an even balance
of you know, them accounting for me being able to
run a little bit, and I thought I got down
(02:53):
and on the first third down scramble and then in
the red zone, like I said, I'm to play all
there and play football.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Drake, you mentioned it a little bit, but just take
us through your reaction to seeing Trevon Henderson on that
first play.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Just take it one hundred yards on that kickoff return.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yeah, you know, I think it's different with the kickoff rule.
Now you think, you know, teams are gonna want to
you know, tackle and not get thirty five yard line,
so it's gonna be a chance for some returns. And
you know, man, it's like a lightning bolt. He was
I saw the crease and you know knew he was gone.
So uh, you know, pretty cool. The first time he
touched football, it's touchdown. And then you know, credit the
guys that that did the blocking up front. You know
(03:31):
that's you know, special teams and say all three phases.
I think spas teams got a chance to be big
force this here.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Hey, Drake, just going back to the end of the
first drive, plays like that where you're trying to extend,
do you feel like that's more just instinct, like you
were talking about reflex or is there kind of a
deliberate thought on that play of what you were trying
to do.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Oh, yeah, it's instinct. So the first time I got
hit since she was back in the last week seventeen,
So you know, it's instinctive and we try to, you know,
my best and not get hit. But uh, I'm gonna
do my part of standing there and delivering those and
you know it's gonna happen. But yeah, I think it's
instinctive just playing football, and you know, obviously trying to
get the guy get the ball in the other guy's hands,
(04:13):
becuse they're better runners than I am. But you know,
just keeping defense. Honest.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
In your first answer, you mentioned you know the optimism
we have with the group this year. Is it possibly
a sense for who and what this team is this
early and what's driving that optimism?
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Yeah, I think you just you'll continue to work at
you know, every day every week. You'll learn from it,
learn from the tape. That's what the biggest thing I've
seen these guys. They want to get better. They're asking questions.
It's a lot of football talk around in the locker
room and I think that's something that you like seeing.
I think the oppism for me is, you know, these guys,
like I said in the previous moment, we want to win,
and uh it, it starts with the head coach. The
(04:52):
intensity you see the guys up front. You know it's
officially the first office line group. You know that was
with me. I was, you know, tossing and handing it
out off and just watching them kind of set the
tone early up front. That kind of gets me excited
and and gets me pumped up. You see, guys, you're
talking trash until until the whistle, and that's what you want.
That's what you want around the locker room. You want
(05:13):
those guys, And it's easy for me to get excited,
you know, playing with guys like that beside me.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
Last question, hey, Drake, when when you think about Remandre
and Trayveon and Antonio the three backs there, how would
you sort of describe the way they compliment each other
from your view?
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Yeah, I think it's, uh, you know it tough on
the defense. They all can you know, make you miss,
they can run over you. They can you know, catch
balls out of the backfield. So it's gonna be you'll
challenge for us on you know, when to use them
and how to use them and you know, getting them
the ball. So you get those guys you know open space.
They're they're great football players. And you see two of
them kick off return. I don't know who they're gonna
(05:50):
kick it to. Both of them are pretty you know,
have big ones tonight. So you know, excited to have
them beside me. And I think the best thing out
they're smart. You know, they're good in pass pro they're good.
You know when you know running the fo ball, that's
you know, that's obvious, but uh, you know routes and
I think you know, pass for the willing the block,
and that's what you're something to look for in the quarterback.
You know, is he going up in the A gap
like man, I gotta go do this. You know those
(06:11):
guys are like, I'm protect the guy behind me. And
that's what like I said, you know, it's it's pretty
cool and fires me up. So thank you all
