Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's going on right? How good I was practiced? Yeah,
it's good. Good to get back out there.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
We'll get on a new week, uh, new opponent and
just uh yeah, I think anybody's got you know, everybody
gets an energy for division rival and uh the division opponent.
So uh you're looking forward to get back out there
and all of these guys brought today and you know,
get stuff to clean up and and look at.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
But I thought it was a good energy out there today.
What for you were the biggest areas improvement cleaning the
end of this week?
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Yeah, I think uh heah, it's I think this just
taken next step. I think, you know, part of it
has moved on and part has learning from from stuff
about the game. I think, uh, you'll get off on
a better start, you know, first less than three, and
now we have a good field position on that first
you know possession, so you'll find a way to you know,
start faster. I think that's a kind of a theme
for the team, start faster. I think from there, just
(00:51):
you know, there's those I like to have back. I
think I feel like I said every game, but particularly
you know ones where I felt like I had guys
open and from there, just uh yeah, I think down
in the red zone, I think you'll be better down
the red zone where it's decision making on my part
or Axe or just in general. I think we got
scort us downs and we're down in the red zone.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
What's your comfort level in this offense right now? What
do you think? Yeah, I think we're building.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
I think, you know, I felt good, you know, kind
of reciting plays and getting out of the huddle and
getting in and out of checks, you know, out there
during the game. So it felt good to get that
in the game's rep and I think it'll you'll continue
to get better between uh your main coach and I think,
you know, more we do and the more we're kind
of seeing the same things and you know, stuff we
can revert back to in a game setting will always
gotta help us going forward.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
And I think those guys, you know, they were catching
the football and blocking on the front.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
I thought they, you know, play their butts off, and
I think, you know, they have a lot of credit
and I could do my part great.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Do you do you think the fixes are something that
can happen relatively quickly or is this something that's gonna
evolve over the.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Season fixes and meaning what needs to have happened for
the offense to be better.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yeah, I think, uh, it's something we're working working hard
to you'll fix this week. You know, we're gonna get back.
And there's one game that you know, we want, we wish,
you know, we would have had and it's like we
could have had, you know. But at the same time,
I think, have we got pieces. We got guys that
you know, play hard and and did a lot of
good things you know on Sunday, So build off that
and and try to learn from that and and establish
(02:19):
the run and build off that.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
But yeah, I think that the goal is to you.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Know, everybody after week one is trying to you know,
kind of assess where they're at and get.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Back there in week two. And I think it's you know,
my job to.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Kind of gets going and like I said, try to
start fast and from there just uh, you know, take it,
give me create positive plays. I think us that we're
trying to create just positive plays, and from there, I
feel like if it don't get our own way, I
think we'll we'll be fine.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Great. Good.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
You mentioned you know there's some throws you'd like to
have back.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Was there anything Kevin watched him again on film.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Is there anything that was sort of consistent on those
froze Is that a mechanical thing? Is it a recognition
thing that was there a consistent theme on?
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yeah, I think just some of them's rushing them.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
I think, you know, I see them and you're kind
of rushing to try to get out so as quick
as you can. That want to populars getting close to
the sideline with kind of a trap corner. They actually
try to get it out as quick as I can
to them to get the first you know. But from there,
I think, you know, really so I've been thrown it
pretty good and you'll see it well, So I think,
you know, sometimes there's their throws that, uh, like I said,
(03:18):
you just you know, man, that could have helped us.
And you know, I think I made some some pretty good
throws throughout the game, you know that I felt good
about actually wise, so uh yeah, I'm not gonna you know,
over harp on too much. And at the same time,
you gotta hit guys when they're open, so it's a
it's an even kind of balance. But uh yeah, I
think I definitely actually is one of the biggest things
a quarterback. So you know, being accurate is what I
(03:39):
take pride in and you can't miss open guys.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Diggs told us it's important to him to give you
positive feedback and reinforcement as a.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Captain and the trench guy.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Now, like, how do you feel you're experiencing with pressure
and expectation that that comes with that.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Yeah, I think the guys are being great around me.
I think you know, they're pumping me up and staying
positive in the huddles. Got some juice, That's that's the
biggest thing. I think I kind of being in the
huddle and have some juice and kind of not having
all eyes on on each other, you know, waiting for
somebody to say something. I feel like they have some
juice in the huddle, and that's what I'm trying to
bring to practice. You know, bring some juice and positive
energy and you'll let you know, not let that game
(04:15):
kind of bleed into this game. We just add so
just try to you know, kind of come out here
and like I said, do what I can to get
the guys going, you know, early and we were playing
in a different kind of climate so adjusted to that,
and it's getting cold a little bit around here. But
you know, those guys do a great job pumping me up,
and I got to realize that, you know, I'm still young,
but at the same time, I still gotta you know,
be a voice and and help those guys around me,
(04:37):
because you know my voice, you know, it means something.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Coach Rabil said that they would evaluate they're playing too much.
I can played early in the season. Have you noticed
any changes with this so far this week?
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Oh, I mean I think, uh, you know, any team
we're trying to you know, establish to run, so you know,
from that point, I think you win. You win games
running the football and stop in the run. So trying
to set that up. You know, I feel like I'm
like the guys. We have guys that we can go
to in space and make plays and uh, you know,
we can hurt teams in the past. So I don't think,
you know, I don't feel like anything's changed, and I'm
just trying to do, you know, my part and whatever
(05:09):
they ask me to do.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Anything like too.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Much on your plate? No, I mean I think like
I said, uh, you know previously, anyime you're playing quarterback
in the NFL's it's a lot on your plate. You
know you're playing quarterback for you know, one of thirty
two teams. You know that's a it's a lot and
you know something I take I don't think for granted,
you know what a special position is in this league.
And there's a lot of good God comes with it,
and there's a lot of stuff that's out on your plate.
(05:32):
That's just part of it. So trying to do whatever
I can to you know, study as much as I
can and you know, hear the play calls and study
the formations before he calls them. And yeah, like I said,
there's a lot of things that go into it being
accurate and play call on it, getting in and out
of plays. So just trying to, like I said, get
a get a good grip on it. I think the
more more we do that, you know, kind of throughout
the weeks and this season go on, the better I'll
(05:54):
feel for in this offense.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Uh, you're talking about the plate, so you are never
gonna say, you know what, there's too much my play.
I can't do it. You're always gonna as a player
compet or a badge it. So I can do it.
I can get it. Are there points in which you
might say, you know, what it's probably not a bad
idea to streamline that if it's a funny slide that
you're in and we don't wanna say it's too much,
(06:16):
but you have to be realistic about I'm not there
on that yet.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Yeah, you know, I think that's what you spend so
much time for us, what you're here in April four
and kind of through that the building blocks of the offense.
And I think, you know, more of that is, you know, hey,
I might not like this play this week, or hey
I might not like, you know, you know, something out
of this look. So it's more of that me and
I'll kind of share my opinions, you know, with coach,
rather than you not taking taking taking the challenge on.
(06:43):
So I'm just trying to coach. Are trying to put,
you know, the best plays in the huddle that we
feel good about and that are our best plays, and
then from there try to go and execute.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
About sliding, how natural does that come to you? And
is that something you actually practice?
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Yeah, you know, I play baseball growing up, so sliding was,
you know, pretty natural. I just slid head first more
and second base more than I can remember. But uh, yeah,
I think just being able to get down slid a
couple of times in the games, and I think I
do better job instead of run sideways, try to give
as much I can inslide, So give as much as
I can. But you know, really from there and the
third down and kind of in the good line, try
(07:17):
to try to be big and you know, not take
too much of a hit, but you'll give what I can.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
How do you feel you're at with your mechanics in
your homework right now and feeling you're in I've been
plays something that, Yeah, I feel like I've been.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
I feel like I've been you know, you know, I
think throughout training camp and and throughout over the summer,
you know, trying to get a grip on the offense,
get a grip on kind of the timing and in
the routes and have times with my feet I think
you know, I was, I was accurate and it made
some throws when you know, my feet timed up with
the routes and with the concept. So just gotta, you know,
stay on my all my stuff kind of throughout the
(07:50):
week of not letting little things like that and you'll
go to waste because I feel like when you know,
got a good base and thurn my shoulder at it
and and let it rip.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
I've been on targe it. So that's just the main thing.
And I feel good throwing it.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
So that's what matters, Sam, is what you were doing
last year in terms.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Of like left up forward and all that that stuff hurt. Yeah,
you know, same setup.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
I think, like I said, different, it's a little different
offensively with under center and you really kind of kind
of the same stuff. But yeah, just trying to apply
to this offense. I cameon remember some of the different
stuff from last year. But uh yeah, trying to keep
the same stuff and try to rep it and just
continue repping it. And the throws that I feel like,
you know, we should have back, try to get those
(08:32):
after practice and you know, throughout practice, try to work
on throws and making throws from from pockets. Think it's
tough to emulate and practice, you know, defensive line and
kind of you know, pushing the offensive line back into
you and not getting able to step into it. So
some of those throws are tough to emulating. I trust
what I try to do in my individual time after practice.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
You guys talk about flushing it, you know, when they
move on fair week.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Is that that easy for you? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:57):
I think kind of throughout the of course the last season,
you know, you learn it's it's any given week in
this league.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Shoot.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
I think it's it's one of those things that you
got to bring in every week and and you can't,
let you know, last week kind of dwell in this week.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
And I think that's what you know, these guys and
and what coaches.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Is talking about and then preaching and you know, wanting
to start fast. So for this for me, I think, yeah,
flushed it. But also you know, not just learn from it.
I think, you know, learning from it, learn as much
as I can try to get on the wing side
of things, and that's what you know I'm here to do.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
So thank us.
