Speaker 3 (01:00):
Yeah, you know, after watching the film and talking to
some of the players, you know, it's a disappointing game.
When you think about the one score games that we've
been in this year, I think we've had seven of them,
it's always disappointing to come out on this side. I thought, overall,
I thought this was the best performance from our offense
that we've had all season. The way that those guys
(01:23):
are able to run the ball. There were some, you know,
some protection issues, but I would say for the most
part it was pretty good. And you know we're able
to throw the ball. That's always a good formula to
be balanced like that in a game. Defensively, you know,
we had a few drives there, good drives.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Obviously if you take away that last drive, I think
it was like seventeen eighteen plays, we're all feeling a
little bit better about the game. Definitely things to build on.
I would say those guys played until the last seconds.
As you guys saw it, still had an opportunity at
the end of the game. Special teams wise, we've got
to make some of those kicks, kind of put Joey
Joey hit the ball well pre game. Obviously, at the
(02:04):
end of the game, whether it's a hell Mary or
a field goal, I mean to me, the odds are
pretty much the same, especially when the win wasn't really
a big factor in the game.
Speaker 5 (02:13):
Coming up on a BIE week is going to be
a huge week for us.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Much needed bye week, not only physically for the players
but also mentally being able to hit the reset button
and come back and you know, put some good games
together and continue to build for the future.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
And that has to be our goal.
Speaker 6 (02:31):
And we'll start with the first question from Mike Grease.
Speaker 7 (02:35):
True, I wanted to ask you on the on the
Colts Final Drive, we talked a little bit about the
possible challenge on that third and ten play and maybe
not having a clear view of it. I just wanted
to get your thoughts on on what your thoughts are
on maybe even just throwing that anyway in that situation,
just given the game situation, like what is your philosophy
(02:55):
on that particular situation?
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Also a great question, and I would say the timeouts
are definitely vital, uh in those in those positions. You know,
we lost more challenge like that last week we lost
one in the forty nine ers, and I would say
this week is hands at least the one clip that
I saw real quick, and it was just it was
just a tough It was tough. It was a tough
for me as far as they catch you, you did not
catch you. I understand your question though as far as
(03:19):
like momentum and things like that, but at that point
in time didn't feel like we had a good enough view.
Speaker 6 (03:26):
Next question, Doug Kaide I.
Speaker 8 (03:29):
Draw on the on the your point in version, it
looked like Christian Barmore might have been held, might have
been penalized or like you possibly could have had a
flag throw and against the offensive lineman on that play.
Curious to see or curious to hear what you thought
of that play?
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Affter the film? Look, they didn't call it. I thought
he got held, and I watched the film. I mean
it's pretty clear to me, but it wasn't called. And
so there's no excuses for me on that.
Speaker 8 (03:56):
And one other quick question. You just said that if
you take out the final drive, then obviously you guys
are feeling a lot better about the game. There's been
a few instances this season where you've said, like if
you take out a few big runs or if you
take out his drive. I'm just curious what, like what
message that sends the players or the team that if
you take out the worst thing that happens, that that
you guys are gonna feel better after the game.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Yeah, And when I talk to the team, I tell
him all the time, I don't I don't have a
crystal ball on what play is going to be important.
But you're you're exactly right. Those are that those are
you know, that's what the NFL is. The NFL has
comes down to a few plays, and that's really my
message when I say it like it comes down to
a few players. So you look at it from one way,
you know, if we would have done this, and then
you look at it the other way. We didn't get
(04:39):
it done, and so that's kind of why we're here.
Speaker 9 (04:41):
Now.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
We've had seven one score games and I think we're
two and five in those games, and we just got
to be better. And again that's what the NFL is.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
Thank you.
Speaker 6 (04:50):
Next question, so if you Willer.
Speaker 9 (04:54):
As D's curious about Christian Ellis. Last season when he
came in, he was used primarily on special teams, but
it really feels like the season you're utilizing him a
lot more on defense. And then to see him kind
of get that interception yesterday, just what you've seen from
him and how he's grown to become one of these
key defensive players for you.
Speaker 5 (05:15):
Yeah, part of that, you know, is due to injury.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
And I would say primarily he was here to help
us on special teams, but has always been very doubt
in and defensive meetings, and now he's playing a lot
of football.
Speaker 5 (05:25):
For us and doing a pretty good job.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Look, we always talk about that next man up into
and he has embraced that and he's out there making
place for us.
Speaker 6 (05:33):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
Thanks.
Speaker 6 (05:35):
Next question to create a randall.
Speaker 10 (05:38):
Want to drud and at the beginning of the year,
you said a successful season would be being competitive each
week and getting better as a season and progresses. You've
been competitive in a lot of these games, but as
you answered the bye week, what things can you point
to that the team got better at over the first
thirteen weeks.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Yeah, first of all, we just say we have a
very resilient team. We've been in games where you know,
most people would just quit. Our guys, you know, they
have great mental toughness and they continue to play good football.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
What I would say is this overall, our consistency just
needs to improve.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
You know, you look at the beginning part of the year,
we're a good cover team, special teams wise, and now
you know yesterday obviously we had a good game there,
but our return game has stepped up. And it's really
just about putting everything together that we've done at points
in the season to be a good football team, and
we shish have to continue to do that.
Speaker 6 (06:29):
We'll try to get to everyone's questions here. The next question, Chris.
Speaker 11 (06:31):
Ryan, Hey, Rod, as you mentioned earlier, Hey, just uh,
you mentioned a lot of these games, uh, seven games
in which you've been within a score kind of getting
lost in the margins. From a coaching standpoint, how do
you get the guys to a point where there is
more consistency, there is more attention to detail and you
(06:55):
were able to win the margins and games where you
outgained the appointent like yesterday.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Look, it starts in practice and it starts with just
how you just said, the details. We just have to
be on point every snap and hopefully after this, by
week the guys come back with fresh and ready to
go and try to put some games together.
Speaker 5 (07:13):
Thanks.
Speaker 6 (07:14):
Next question back Daniels.
Speaker 5 (07:18):
Heydrod.
Speaker 12 (07:19):
Good morning with with such a young team, how hard
is it to teach some of these teams or as
a team to learn how to win? You know, obviously
you guys have lost some close games, but hop to
off of his is it the lessons that you've been
I'm saying is you've been on a lot of teams
that have won a lot of games. You know, how
hard is it to sort of teach this? And you
know how important is it through his final four games
to try to hone in You know, whatever that lesson is.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
Yeah, it's it's very tough.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
And I think you know, once you tip over that
first domino of going out there playing well and being
able to win back to back games, that's when you
really start to say, all right, we're doing a good job,
and look that's my job. That's my job is to
get these guys ready to go and obviously winning cures.
Speaker 6 (07:57):
All thank you, thanks, Next question Dan Rich.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
Morning, Gerard. Okay, just one of those lines of what
Mark was asking.
Speaker 10 (08:08):
You have a pretty good chunk of time for the
players off here, what would you like them to do
in that period of time?
Speaker 5 (08:13):
Reflect on?
Speaker 13 (08:14):
And then what would you like to see from your
team for the next four weeks after that coming out
of the break.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
To me, they should reflect on what they what they've
done to this point, and what they can do more
going forward. And then from a that's from an individual standpoint,
I would also say from a collective stand what more
can I want them to think about? What more can
I do to help this team win games? And that's
also for the coaches as well, and definitely for myself
reflecting on how do we get this team winning on
(08:41):
a consistent basis and to me that that cure as all.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
And how will you spend your time? Do you need
a quick mental break? What do you think you need?
Speaker 3 (08:48):
No, you know, look I'll take a quick break. But look,
there are definitely a lot of things that will happen
here over the next few weeks and still focusing on
the season obviously, but you also have to look out
the front windshield of things that are going to come
up on as fast. And those are some of the
decisions or conversations that I'll have during the week.
Speaker 6 (09:06):
Thank you, Thanks, Next question, Nick Giovanni, Morning coach.
Speaker 14 (09:12):
I've just following up along the bye week theme there,
just how how, if anyway, did yesterday's outcome impact just
how you're approaching the bye week there in terms of
victory mondays and just you know, how you're going about that,
and then what in terms of the evaluation process that
you've been talking about, Uh, you know, what is the mindset.
Speaker 13 (09:29):
For the for the final four?
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Yeah to be you know, some of those victory mondays
early on or just a case of you know, our
bye week being so far out and you know, some
of the guys needed to rest their mind, rest their body,
and so it was very difficult, uh doing that.
Speaker 5 (09:44):
The second part of your question was what it did.
Speaker 14 (09:46):
Sorry, just in terms of the evaluation process that you
talking about going through something.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
Yeah, yeah, well, you know, we'll do our self scout stuff,
you know, see what we're doing schematically, and then we'll
also see you know, we'll get our player evals in
as well. Up until this point and then you're going
into the last four games. It's just about going out
there playing con fromentary football and winning.
Speaker 5 (10:10):
Thanks sir.
Speaker 6 (10:11):
Thanks, next question Taylor Kyles.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Hey coach, Thank you so much for your time. I
had a question about a couple of things. One, the
first touchdown that answering Anthony Richardson threw, it looked like
there was like a four by one. Look they kind
of got to the line fast. Was that a miscommunication
or something maybe they hadn't shown before. And also it
looked like that QB sweep they were kind of hitting
pretty consistently.
Speaker 5 (10:33):
I was wondering what your thoughts were on that play.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
Yeah, they've they've shown it before and really like we
just got to go out there and make the play
like those loaded formations. Every team does things like that.
Obviously when you have a quarterback that can also run. Uh,
you know, he's always a threat. And I would say,
I think you hit on the head again. Like you know,
the quarterback design runs were definitely a problem and we
just had to get that fixed. Anytime it's a quarterback
(10:56):
that can run, he just adds another piece of the puzzle.
Speaker 5 (10:59):
Uh. And we'll see that here coming up soon. Thank you.
Speaker 6 (11:02):
Thanks, Next question, Mike Giati, Mordan.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
You a couple quick ones for you. On the on
the touchdown to Pierce of the final touchdown, there he
crosses Pepper's face, bro gives him like a slight for him.
Do you want to see him get a little bit
more of a piece of him to slow him down
on the crosser?
Speaker 3 (11:23):
I mean, look, that's always uh part of our mentality
is to chip these receivers. And look, when it's all
said and done, scored a touchdown and we just all
have to be better. I'll talk about the marriage of
Russian coverage as well, so it's not just one individual,
it's just as the entire yearit.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
And then to Taylor's point about the four by one,
they were going fast. It seemed like you guys weren't set.
Is that another issue where communication got challenged.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Look, anytime an offense goes to the ball fast, you
have to be ready for some type of perimeter play,
and we.
Speaker 5 (11:52):
Just had to have more of a sense of urgency
on that play to get lined up and go. Thank you.
Thanks that have.
Speaker 6 (11:59):
Time for two more questions here, Jakota Randall, followed by
Phil Perry.
Speaker 5 (12:05):
Ure. Yeah, a couple quick questions.
Speaker 10 (12:07):
I'm just wondering, have you seen enough from Leyden Robinson
to tentatively pencil him in as the starter left guard
moving forward?
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Look, I thought Layden went out there and played his
best game. It wasn't perfect by far, but definitely took
a step forward.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
And off of that.
Speaker 10 (12:22):
You know, with Leyden and Mic at the at the
guard spots right now, and you're saying you expect Cold
Strange to play at some point, is it realistic to
say that with a couple more weeks, Full could start
at center after the bye week.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
Yeah, we'll have to see.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
I don't want to get into hypotheticals, and I would
say Ben's he's done a good job for so we'll
see how Cole presents here in the next couple of
weeks and see what happens.
Speaker 6 (12:46):
And final question from Phil Perry.
Speaker 13 (12:51):
Did Gerda. I just had a couple of questions about
two drives offensively for you guys, the last drive before
the half where you guys went run, run and then
had a looked like a called pass play on third down.
And then the drive right after the Christian Gonzales interception,
same sort of thing, run, run past and you end
(13:13):
up hunting before their last drive there. Did you feel like,
looking back and having watched the film, do you feel
like you guys are maybe too conservative in those situations?
Speaker 5 (13:22):
To me, if we make the kick, we're not even
having this conversation.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
And then I would also say, secondly, just offensively, look,
we got two turnovers defensively, talk about playing compromary football.
We went three and out on those two drives, so
that's definitely a frustrated piece of it.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
Thanks guys.
Speaker 1 (13:38):

But where the Patriots are concerned, let's just get one
thing done and let's get it done right and then
we can worry about versatility. Am I lying to anybody here.
Speaker 8 (14:00):
Let's just get one thing done.
Speaker 11 (14:02):
Let's get one thing done right, and then we can
move along.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
That's kind of my biggest thing.
