Speaker 1 (00:00):
How are you.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Oh, I'm just talking to Karen. Thank you.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Taking advantage of our opportunities, turning you know, drives into
touchdowns that you know, hitting some X plays and not
settling for field goals like we did in the first half.
But you know, sometimes it's going to be like that
a lot of times in this league.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
It's going to be like that.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
And you know, we've had other games and then asked
me about starting fast, and you know, again, we'll try
to continue to work on that. And I'm also proud
of the totality of this of the team, and I
know there's so much more to improve, but we we
got stops in the second half and we and we
scored touchdowns and that's what the difference in the game was.

(00:53):
But it was also the way we finished the first half,
you know. But by getting to stop and going down
there and you know, making a huge gain. We didn't convert,
but we were able to move the ball down there
in a field goal range, and Andy and that operation
was able to take advantage of it and go into
the halftime with the lead.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
Mike kind of extending that just the complimentary football splaying
the interception and then the touchdown Hawkins the interception touchdown.
How pleased were you when you saw those kind of
things unfold and you brought your team to the sidelines
for the ensuing kickoff. What was the reason for having
everybody stand up on the sidelines for that.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Well, I wish you guys would have noticed that a
few weeks ago. We started doing that a couple of
weeks ago when we started going on a road, So
glad you guys just now noticed. But that hasn't changed
in three weeks. And it was focused that we had
on the road trying to get up and support the
other groups, the ones that were trying to create field
position for us on the kickoff return or the kickoff.

(01:51):
So taking advantage of the turnovers is huge. Certainly one
on third down there was splane and then the long
one there that hawkats. We got to take care of
the ball better and continue to find opportunities they hadn't
turned it over, and then when their gimmick plays ran out,
and I thought we played a pretty good defense.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Looks like the team is pretty looks like the team
we were right far far right. It looks like the
team is pretty fired up.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
For Stephan Diggs after he scored his first touchdown of
the season.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Just how would you characterize the impact he's had in
the locker room so far?

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Really enjoyed being around him every day. There's energy, communication,
his willingness to learn and play and you figure out
what it.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Is that we need from him each in every week.
There's been an energy.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
He's practiced when we when we need him to practice.
And we're gonna have to start taking care of some
of these veteran guys and whether that's him or Morgan.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Or Hunter and a lot of these other guys as
we move on towards the season.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
But highly competitive, He's vocal, he cares, he's a great teammate.
He's been really good for that position and some of
the younger guys' development. So I'm happy to be able
to get him in the end zone. It was it
was long overdue.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Uh Drake.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Drake was sacks six times today but still finishes with
two eighty and three touchdown. Just how impressed were you
with his resolve as this game went on?

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Everybody's resolve and you know, again would like to have
the sacks, but again and we got to get the
ball out on time and understand who who it is
that we're dealing with and you but I don't think that,
you know, as long as we're keeping them clean and
not you know, some vicious hits, and we have to
be able to be better in that regard. But you know,

(03:36):
I think when you when we give them time to throw,
it's it's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
And it's good to see us hit a couple X plays.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
And but we knew that it was going to be
a challenge with this front and then the way that
they played, and certainly with with Miles Garrett and.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Committing two people to them.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
And I'm still you know, affecting the quarterback is obviously impressive.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Mike.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
We're going on six weeks now where you guys are
among the best defenses the league the last three quarters.
What besides the tackling which we've talked about, do you
see is driving.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
That I think we settle in. I think we get
some stops.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
I don't think we're giving up a ton of X
plays in that regard. You know, after the first drive
and whether it was a mistackle or you know, they
got us some over aggressive and slipped the guy out
of the backfield. But I think they play and they
compete for for sixty minutes. This isn't a one or
two possession game. There's ten or twelve at least possessions

(04:36):
in a football game. So we've got to continue to
work on the things and can enhance the things that
we've done well and improve on the things that haven't
been so well, which is the early game. You know,
the opening script, getting off the field on third down,
which we had him in third and long and weren't
able to so, but creating third and long opportunities, and

(04:59):
then you know, continue to get stops.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Mike.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
Obviously not word for word, but what did you say
to your team at the half? You guys struggled a
lot in the first half, both obviously to move the ball,
but then of course to get points. Then three straight
touchdowns to start the second half.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
We were winning the game, so I just told him
keep playing. I mean, I don't know how many yards
we had. I mean those are stats. I look at
the scoreboard.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
We were winning, Mike right behind him.

Speaker 6 (05:29):
Just curious your thoughts on Miles Garrett today, and I
imagine you guys had him emphasize during the week just
how hard is this guy to block? I guess I
just size speed, athleticism bend. You know, having watched him
last year, it's impressive and it's hard, you know. I
mean they're trying to chip him and he gumbies around
one guy and then speed bursts the other guys.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Just an elite athlete with.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
You know, a tremendous skill set and you know, I'm
glad that you know, we don't play him twice every
year unless we're both in the playoffs. So you know,
he's just a dynamic player and you know, they do
a nice job with him, and he certainly impacts a
lot of football games.

Speaker 7 (06:15):
Coach job, what went into the individual player introductions? And
know earlier you mentioned players standing up during special teams,
but what was your thought process into having the players
introduced individually before the game.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
I just feel like these guys put a lot into
it and would like to recognize them individually. Hopefully our
fans can embrace that and get excited for him and
something that you know, felt like we wanted her to
do and you know, create some energy early and get
them to recognize the player's efforts and you know, allow

(06:48):
these fans to support us, which they you know they did.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
I mean, he's getting loud on third down, and we've got.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
To continue to play hard for him so that they
they cheer for us.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Hey, Hey, Mike, I'm just curious Christian Barmer. We didn't
really see him in the first quarter. Was there anything
that led to him being sidelined and then to see
him come back in the game after.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Yeah, I had to make a decision. You know, my
jobs protect the team. So when there's actions that I
don't feel like or commissionate with with what we want
to do here, I got to make a decision and then.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
We move on. Last question, Mike run game was effective
again for the second straight week. What'd you see happening
there against a tough Bronze defense, tough sledding. I think
we stay committed.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
We mix some interior runs, we we hit some you know,
outside plays, some perimeter runs, and then obviously the quarterback
stuff helps to you know, those numbers and when they
pressure and they play man coverage and Drake can do
that that that has to be part of who we are.
You know, we got to send him a spring training

(07:56):
and figure out, you know, when to slide and continue
to talk about that and.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Do my best there. Thanks guys,
