Speaker 1 (00:00):
How are we doing? Where's Nicole?

Speaker 2 (00:03):
She was so worried about the mustache she didn't show
up for the reveal.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Did you have any superstitions.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
In the locker room ask you to keep it?

Speaker 1 (00:17):
No, I mean I didn't. I didn't tell them. I
didn't shave in the middle of the locker room.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
So I don't know, but we'll find out here a
little bit. I just did it, So I don't know
how many people saw other.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Than stretching Stacey. So we'll see. They can be back quick.
Go ahead. Last night, what did you like from Christian Hellas?
Seemed like he kind of led the team and a.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Lot of the juice that they came out with in
the physicality. We heard from stef On Digs as well,
saying that you guys had to talk about aggressiveness in
your place before, and I just felt like it had
been a long week, and you know, with these home
night games, right, we have a let's say Saturday, we're

(01:01):
excuse me, Sunday, and then we are done with them
and they go to the hotel and then you know,
Monday morning meetings and then they leave and they go
home and they get some rest or whatever it is
that they're going to do to prepare themselves for the game,
and I just felt like I wanted to remind them
that it was important to have an attacking mindset and

(01:21):
aggressive mindset to continue to find the joy throughout our
team with each other, playing, watching each other, feeding off
each other, the all three units, and just I think
that's they appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
I think that they.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
You know, I've said this after the game, the strength
of our wide receiver unit is in the unit. And
I know that that's hard for a position, especially that position.
But everybody's catching passes, everybody's catching touchdowns, They're trying to
block when they don't have the ball, and I understand
and I think that that and I appreciate that, and

(01:59):
so I remind them of that. And it can't it's
not going to be just one guy getting fifteen or
sixteen targets every week.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
I just don't think that that's what this is.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
And I appreciate their unselfishness and I think that that
is just a small microcosm of what I want our
football team to look like and feel and be excited
when when Kyle catches a touchdown or when kay Sean
catches a touchdown or whoever it may be that gets
a big third down conversion for us. So that's all

(02:28):
we're trying to do. And Christian Ellis I think embodies
that he's a great teammate and his teammates care deeply
about him.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
He cares about this football team. He's got great.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Relationships throughout the building with his coaches and obviously with
his teammates. And that's another special group, you know, the
linebacker group, and Christian Christian got us going. And again,
there's nothing illegal about anything that he did. There's nothing
dirty there. It's it's him playing football and whether it's

(02:56):
covering kicks, and he takes a lot of pride in
that unit and also on defense.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
After getting kissed, you're back and watch the film, how
do you think the less side of the offensive line.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
I thought that they were excited about playing, and I
think that that is probably the thing that pleases me
the most is that they wanted it. Ned Verdarian wanted
to go out there and play and compete and block
and and Ben you know, fought and battled and I
know he had a holding call which you know, I
think was was close. I mean they called it stay

(03:27):
inside out, but I don't. I mean, I've seen worse.
There was worse yesterday, but that's what they called it.
But but they were excited about playing and then they
were prepared and they were ready to go. So you know,
that's kind of what you have to do with this
time of the year or anytime in the National Football
League is is be ready to go, no different than

(03:48):
they Munford coming in there from Cleveland and helping us
and being being ready and going out there and helping us,
and and his opportunities and we know what happens there,
you probably get more opportunities.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Like I said, from his.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Speed, what allows Marcus to just see picks.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Lays well, I think that that's a great thing for him.
I think that's a great question for him. What do
you see? And I think the easiest way for me
is whether he's fitting to run and on defense as
a nickel or he's blitz in. As I said, just
I guess, try to pretend like you have the football
in your hand and you got to weave through traffic
and you got to make these guys miss. And I
mean he thinks he's six four and fifty pounds, and

(04:28):
so I always tell him to run like you don't
have to hit these guards and you don't have to
run into him, and a run like you can slip
and duck and dodge and do whatever. So I think
it's a mentality, it's a mindset to be able to
do that, to to run through the smoke, you know,
days of Thunderstyle.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
And I think.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
He got great effort from the guys blocking for him.
He took care of the gunners. You know, Miles got
to the second level. Tay did a great job setting
up in a great in the location that that they
talk about, and you know, got it started.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
And then you know he did the rest.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Like, did you know just from watching Marcus's tape that
might be a fit for what if you wanted to
build your house soon?

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Did you know?

Speaker 2 (05:07):
I wouldn't take long in the off season just from
the personality, just from the the person the way that
he practiced the embodied I would say, the identity and
then just knew, you know, he was an elite punt returner,
and so you know we have to continue to make
that a weapon and and force teams to to punt

(05:29):
and and being in fourth and long to where you
know we have those opportunities to to double you know,
the gunners and things like that. It's fourth and three,
it's hard to double the gunners. And you want to
be sound on everything, Like how nice did to.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
See July uh break down the huddle host game Russell?
Was he a game captain too?

Speaker 1 (05:48):
He was, yep, yep, he.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Uh Again, these these guys that built a bond that
I want to try to just.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Help me nurture and help grow throughout the team.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
And Jilani is somebody like that. You see everybody reaching
out and caring for each other, not just him, but
you know, it was great to see him out there
play defense, help us on special teams and you know,
made some plays and contributed to us winning. Said that
this team has really earned this by a week as
late as it is. What would you want your message,

(06:27):
if you can share with us to the team as
they go into the bye week, to be well, we're
not done, We're not satisfied. I think champions are never satisfied.
I think you can appreciate where you are, but at
the same time, never be satisfied or complacent. And the
fine line between rest and recovery and you know, just

(06:50):
being sedentary. So there's there's a fine line of what
we have to do to be able to come back here.
Understand that just because you have a buye, that doesn't
mean you're guaranteed some victory that next week. In this league,
you know, teams are sixteen and twelve coming off of
buye this year, so obviously the buye doesn't guarantee anything
other than we should get some guys back and that

(07:12):
we didn't have last night, and we'll see where that
goes throughout the week. You know, give them some time
to reconnect with people that they care about and then
also be ready to focus on football and us finishing
this thing.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Mike's explained in the head base to blow them last week.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Was that just a conscious decision to eve in the
game that put.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
A little bit more on the training.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Yeah, I mean I think that just playing everybody and
you know where we are in the season, and Harold
was in that category as well, so you know, we
got a lot of trust in everybody that that's here
and be ready to go and just try to get
everybody ready for this next week here.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
It's just the thing last night about Will Matti, we
said will meant to be sets every game in the
natural football league in that like can you get one
tens free? What's that? Oh? Okay? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Yeah, people who went to moving forward even though you
guys are going into the buy.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Well, I think you focused, you know, me staying consistent.
It has been something that we've tried to do with the message,
and you know, try to enhance the things that we
do well and improve the things that were maybe just
okay at and then still finding ways to eliminate, eliminate
the things that get you beat and then we'll get
back in on Monday and start that momentum for the week.

(08:30):
And I think confidence is something that potentially can carry.
I think you build momentum through the week and the
way that you practice and the way that you correct
things and see things come together, and you know, we'll
do it all again on Monday.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
Like you mentioned a couple of times, a zero, continuing
to find joy, protecting your joy during the course of
the season. Obviously that's important, But I'm curious if there's
anything top of mind you're trying to guard against when
you share that message with the team.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
I don't just appreciate what we do, where we do it,
and who we do it with, I think is important.
Winning helps, but let's be honest, like this is the
National Football League. You're you're going to have to go
through some tough times and you're going to lose games
whenever that is, you know what I mean, That's not

(09:23):
our goal. But the goal is to just embrace and
enjoy coming to work. Provide an environment for these guys
to have confidence in what they do and learn and
figure out the game plan and how they can help
us win, put them in spots to do it, and
then try to, you know, glorify those efforts in front
of the team and in front of our fans and
everything else.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
So you couldn't resist the Monday night football counting and
it's December, but November. What does that mean to you?

Speaker 1 (09:48):
And the my cousmic cleats be able.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
To do that well, First of all, I appreciate what
our players do outside this.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Football team and in the community.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
This is important that they take their platform and their
gifts that they've been blessed with and share that with
other people. I do know that that's something that's important
to a lot of guys on this team. So for
them to be able to do that, I think is
a great thing. On Monday Night to bring awareness to
the things that are important to them. I was able

(10:19):
to share in that and bring awareness to men's health
and you know, not a spring chicken anymore. So we
all have to focus on being around for our families
and providing for them and making you know, great decisions
to take care of our bodies, take care of our health.
And I appreciate to letting everybody allow me to bring

(10:40):
awareness to.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
That, Like how important has it been to the success
in your offense? And the track is really seemingly willing
to throw to anybody.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
I'm just thinking of the touchdown to Kyle last night.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
That's a connection that hasn't worked, you know, necessarily one
hundred percent of the time this season.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
But he's still They're.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Never going to be one hundred percent. No connection is
going to be one hundred percent. Don't come me off, Phil,
nobody's going to be one hundred percent.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
I've said this to you and a Drake and everybody else.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
The quarterback's job is to throw to the person that's
open in the progression when they're open, Because if you
don't do that, then you wait things out and you
complain about stripsacks, or you complain about getting hurt, and
that may be a five yard completion and it drops
step and a knife for eight or nine yards, and
if we're lucky, it's a first out. But I think

(11:29):
he's done that and I think that what I talked
about with the receivers of just saying, hey, go run
my route to win, and I may be on the
front side of the route or I may be on
the backside. And I think Todd's tried to do a
good job downing of explaining to them, hey, you've got
some time.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
You're not the fourth read. Like.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
He doesn't say they're the fourth read. He says you
got some time because you're going to be backside on
this and the quarterback's going to progress through and if
nobody's open through the progression, well then this is where
we want you, and this is where the quarterbacks trying to,
you know, find you. And if somebody is open earlier
in the progression, then we need to throw them the
football so that bad things don't happen. And I just

(12:09):
sometimes when you wait things out for one particular guy,
bad things can happen. So, Uh, to answer your question,
it's great to see the trust being built and that
happens through practice and then when Kyle gets an opportunity
or Pop gets an opportunity, or Poop down the seam
or whoever it may be, that the quarterback has trust

(12:32):
in him to.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Throw the football and put it where it's supposed to go.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Like coaching receivers is not sert of references that a
lot of.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Guys want and we wanted to want the ball told
fit for that.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
I think Todd is very knowledgeable. I think he builds
great connections with his players. He makes it there's a
lot of trust there.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Uh he does.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
He gives them exactly what they need, what each individual needs.
Mac Allans is different than Steph and Pop's different than Booty,
and that's just the personalities of every player on this team.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
And the vision that I had for it is what
it is.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
And again we've got a long way to go, but
I do having coached quarterbacks, I think that that was
an interesting.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Transition, is to.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Be able to explain it in the eyes of a
quarterback so that the receivers know, hey, this is what
the quarterbacks being told on this particular play. And if
I don't have spacing, or I don't have separation or
I don't have a stem or. I don't whatever the
quarterback's looking for, an indicator or whatever it may be,
then I'm probably not going to get the ball. So

(13:43):
I do feel like that's been been a positive way
to approach that coach in that position.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Thank you, guys. Locker Rooms over
