Speaker 1 (00:00):
How are we doing great? Hi, Karen, if you missed me,
thanks and.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
We haven't chatted you with you since the end stadium
practice and the offense had some issues. They were kind
of sloppy, a couple of interceptions. Romer put the ball
on the ground, just curious.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
The turnovers, yeah, turnovers. You know, I thought we did
some really good things and try to show him that,
you know, the turnovers are certainly going to get his beat.
We had some passes that should have been caught with
some you know, I would say decisions, right, I think,

(00:45):
and hopefully you know when we ask a receiver, you know,
do a run a play like that that if it's
not there, there's other ways to get out of the
play and he could continue to run. It's out of
the pocket, he could throw it away. So those are
great things to teach on in those specific instances and
in Remandre, you know, when make a great cut and
you and you break through, know that that every team

(01:08):
in the league is and hopefully ours is one of
those teams that you know, the guys coming to the
ball and they're they're gonna come and hammer it, and
they're gonna they're gonna play full tilt to the tackle
and so the cut, great cut, good job in the
open field. And you know, fortunately we'll have to continue
to rep that and take care of football. But that
that's something that those things that you mentioned, I think

(01:32):
overshadow a lot of the good stuff that that we
did in in a in a in a team setting
that had the team split up and had different guys
working with with different you know, guys next to him
times last year, I know you weren't here. Does he
get like a fresh clean slate from you or everybody
has a fresh clean slate, and you know, we like

(01:54):
to go through those things. And some of that is techniques.
Some of that is the second guy in a lot
of times on bumble. If you want to talk fumbles
and ball security, I'm happy to do that. But one
person is going to have the ball in their hand
uh every play offensively, and the rest of those ten
players are going to be responsible for protecting the guy
with the ball. And so yep, there were some instances

(02:14):
where he put it on the ground and there were
some instances where you know, the second guy came in
and we need to eliminate the second guy from coming
in by the way, that we play in our play
demeanor and the way that we finish, so uh, clean slate.
Everybody has a has a clean slate. But also you
know there's things that have to have to change and

(02:35):
you know, be better at at every every position as
we move towards the season. How much of that was
warness from him and how much of that maybe could
have been a better decision. Well, I mean we would
need to make you know, I mean we need to
if the if the corner is flat footed, we probably
need to throw it over his head and live to
fight another day. Credit credit to to double A. And

(03:01):
I like sometimes when these things come up, because now
we can coach the quarterbacks to to say, hey, if
the guy's not bailing, if he's just sitting there standing
flat footed, and you go over there, it's a it's
a yes no, and you're gonna have to just decide
that you know, you can't progress back and come over
here to the field, you're gonna get sacked or strip sacked.
So throw it over his head and being able to

(03:24):
catch that ball, double A and end it and then
explain to him, you know, go down, go down, go down.
We have the lead, and you know these are all
great things that come up and allow us to coach.
And just like the drive before, you know, we throw
one into Kayshon and kay Shan does a nice job,
but get us in the field goal range. Thomas chose

(03:44):
to call time out. He was the head coach. That
was his decision. You know, I told the team, Hey, listen,
we have a couple options. We can now go to
the ball. We can clock the ball or be second down.
We can center it wherever we want to center it.
We can slow clock it. We can you know, take
a knee. I can call time out with three seconds
and we kick the winner. So those are all things

(04:04):
that come up, and they come up organically and it
allows us to teach it and coach it. And I
know that this happens, having done this for however many years,
I can show them, but until they actually are in
that position which they're gonna come up. The more that
we do to a minute, just like today, we're gonna
have end a game situation. Ball's gonna be on the
twenty five yard line. It's gonna be forty five seconds.

(04:25):
You're gonna see what the last plays are from the
five yard line or the ten yard line, because that's
just where the ball is gonna be, I would imagine.
So then we can coach those up and see where
it goes. Sorry, that's a long winded answer, but there's
a lot of different situations that come up just by
repping it and I can show them, but then they
actually are in it. I said, Okay, now we can

(04:47):
coach from our example. Sason, again, what's your plan with
the quarterback rotation in the out? It's Monday. We're focusing
on the red zone, focusing on being real precise down there,
not going backwards, hurting ourselves defense, you know, defending every
blade of grass, making sure that we undercut when receivers.
All the details for the red zone, UH that are

(05:08):
going to hopefully help us in the season. That's what
my focus is, getting back to fundamentals.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
UH.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
And then you know, when Friday comes around, I'll try
to do my best, uh to let everybody know.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
You said that when you're looking forward to the first
full padded practice to identify some of those guys, and
you cut your eye and what have you? Now that
you've seen some of those players, what do you want
from them now here on out?

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Well, I mean, I think continued growth. You know, we're
still in training camp, and so the ones that have
continued to show improvement and that have maybe earned some
more reps, you know, continuing to do those types of
things and to continue to take the next step to
continue to compete for a role. And then the ones,

(05:50):
you know, have an opportunity to to try to get
going if you know, maybe they haven't you know, put
their best work out there.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Ahead.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
I don't defer these guys there.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Born leave the field early on Friday on just do
you have the update on kind of what happened.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
The update was just kind of got rolled up, and
he won't be out here. I wouldn't anticipate him this week,
So he'll be working hard to get back, just like
everybody else that's not going to be out there. Other
than that, I wouldn't expect them here at practice today,
and uh, you know, probably not against Washington on Wednesday.

(06:29):
Seen the two kickers kick alternating days.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
We seen you kick on the same days, including in
the stadium.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
What are your impressions, Well, they both have done very well,
and I mean I'm sure nineteen to twenty one or
whatever they both are, and I think they've gotten better
and it's a good competition and I'm glad that they
both got to kick into the stadium and try to
get the extra points and get the end of game
kicks and everything that we did. So, you know, just

(06:55):
try to get the volume and try to you know,
every day Jeremy and Tom have a have a plan
for them on on how they're going to kick. Yeah,
I think I think they're working through what that looks like. Right,
you have a couple of different choices if you you know,
want to try to put it up there high and
try to get it as close to the goal line,

(07:16):
but don't get cute, right, can't have the ball to
the thirty five yard line. And then also some of
these you know, whether they're the low liner, whatever that
may be. I think that's where you talk about practice
and we'll have to figure out what's best for us
and you know, decide on something's.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Got a long way to go here in camp?

Speaker 4 (07:38):
Are there any positions you feel like you need to
learn more about?

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Every single one? I want to continue to learn about
our players, about those positions, about the combinations, and that
that's what training camps for is, you know, really just yeah,
get get get the players in there that can continue
to to to improve and to compete and go from

(08:02):
transitioning against our offense to quickly adjusting to what Washington's
going to do on Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
I we haven't seen much of Matt Collins on the
field so far, but what have you seen from him
off the field?

Speaker 4 (08:13):
Helping out some younger guys.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Spent a lot of time here in the off season
locked in, engaged. Rare for a player to be able
to get that much information and not practice that is
that's hard. That's hard, just even thinking back when I
was in those opportunities to be able to do that
and still understand the details and not practicing it. So

(08:40):
locked in, ready to go. Excited to see him get
out there and practice. Sorry, go ahead, well, Campbell said.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
After the and stadium practice.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
The message to him has been he's either winning his
reps or he's learning.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
How do you feel like he's doing in terms of
not repeating mistakes and coming along in terms.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Of a very coachable player. Has been out there getting
better every day and very a lot of versatility in
his game, and I'm excited about him him continuing to
work and continue to to improved here and players players

(09:16):
get treatment, and the ones that that are out treatments mandatory.
Some meet with their coaches, some lift coaches get caught up,
and you know, we'll talk through personnel, who needs more reps,
who who's earned more reps, who can play different positions,

(09:36):
and then try to get the coaches out of here
too in a reasonable amount of time. They've got family.
They put a lot into this as well. So I
think that there's there's a good balance to be able
to get work done, get get get get ahead, and
then you know, I have to, you know, make sure
that I'm going around and and getting these getting these
people out of here and put a lot into it.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
Like some creative self rations the other night in a
big plays, is that something you encourage And if so.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Why sure? I want to encourage celebrating touchdowns. I want
to encourage doing it with teammates. We don't want to
sit there and taunt the opponent, you know, we don't
want to point the ball or the finger or you
know whatever, anything that's going to cost us fifteen yards.
Nobody we're certainly not good enough to give the other
team fifteen yards, and we want to try to make

(10:24):
sure that we're celebrating as a team. He put a
lot into it. When you go down there and plays
work and guys make plays, they should be excited. So
to think that where we should just walk off, you know,
we got to do it in a manner where we're
going to come back and kick an extra point. But
whatever they decide to do, as long as it doesn't
cost us yards, I'm all.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
For skating his preferences a little bit with the receivers
how they want to run their routes. It seems sort
of like he's showing command or authority over the offense.
Do you have any other examples of moment that's where
he's doing that.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Well, there's protections, I mean there's when he sees something
that he can help. He sees it a lot better
that I think than some other players. Or alignment or
you know, if you see something, say something and don't
assume that everybody's seeing it the way that you're seeing it,
and he's got you know, that's why their quarterbacks they
have a pretty good sense of what's going on. They

(11:21):
got a good view. Maybe it's rotation, maybe it's an
eyes or a step or an alignment, and so just
being able for him to communicate that I see him
good guys in the right formations, or tell guys that,
hey you're off the ball, you're on the ball, or
hey you're over here doing that quickly as before. Sometimes
young quarterbacks they're just focused on the plate or focused

(11:43):
on the cadence and not focused on sideline a sideline,
and I think that that's starting to improve. Thank you guys,
