Speaker 1 (00:00):
How are you all right? Just the one today?

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Think's been up here for eighteen minutes recording, So I guess, Uh, Karen,
you wanna lead off? Uh?

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Sure?

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Do you have any updated news on Terrell?

Speaker 4 (00:19):
And also how things are gonna play out?

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Uh? Calling the place.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Defensively toward the game? Yeah, I would say yes, and
I don't want to.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Uh. I'm gonna try to tell you everything that I
feel like I could tell you. If we have update
on Terrell, I will allow him to handle that or
I'll talk about that next week.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
I still won't know the plan of that going forward. Uh.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
For the game, Zach core will call it a game defensively.
I mean, I'll help him like I like I always do.
But I'm excited for that. I think we've been prepared
all week for that, for the preparation for the game planning.
You know, all the phases of first and second down
and what this team tried wants to try to do,

(01:08):
and how we want to try to defend them, and
the keys and plan on third down or short yardage
in the red zone.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
So it was it was a good week of preparation.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Appreciate the show team doing what they did to try
to give us the shifts and the motions, and it's
hard to recreate that speed. But I felt like they
tried to do everything that they could for us to
get us ready. So I'll probably have more on Terrell
next week and then we'll go from there.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
What have you seen from zach O many years that
you know leads you.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
To putting into these coss Well, going back to you know,
we just haven't been an offensive coach, and you know,
watched them work at Ohio State and when we were
able to get him to Tennessee, how quickly he translated
that knowledge to to defense. Now quickly he learned defense
and what asset he was defensively for us, especially coming

(02:04):
from some of the college game, and as some of
those trends started to make their way to the National
Football League and some of this the spread and they
you know, the r P O or things like that,
he really became an asset for us defensively.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
He worked, you know, did our did our red zone
stuff for us in Tennessee and then continue to grow,
continue to understand what we were doing. And then watching
them work in the spring and work in front of
the guys and prepare them in the spring and through
training camp until you know Terrell was back. That that's

(02:40):
what I saw. I saw a lot of maturity, a
lot of growth, but also a lot of knowledge.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Christian neighborhood. Those both will be out. I guess I
can go through this.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Kean will be out, Gonzo will be out, Maphu will
be questionable, and Morgan Moses will be questionable. Know they're
designations with key on.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Is that potentially the long term concern or.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Is it must be out for Sunday. I'm not gonna
speculate on what could happen after that.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
So what are some of the any challenges of facing
a left hand and quarterback?

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Oh, you train all these boots most of the time.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
You know where they're gonna go, and we start matching
the hand, you know, trying to match the hand of
a right handed quarterback, and then all of a sudden
you come out and he throws the first one with
his left hand and you put your right hand up
and it wi zobia. It's like the time I came
through in the college to try to block a punt
and I roughed the punter because I realized I didn't
know he was left footed. Came up the middle, probably

(03:41):
gave him a hit pointer, but it was a fifteen
yard penalty. So I think it's just a you know,
good reminder of you know, it's hard to train it,
and we can train it in pre practice with the
coaches and things like that, and just making sure that
you know.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Again the ball will come out quick. He has had
some passes tipped.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
I wouldn't say that he's the leader in the clubhouse,
but he's certainly not adverse to having some of those,
and we just have to be able to try to
do that and try to catch one of them or
you know, affect some of these passes the best way
that we can.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Like you talked a couple of times this week about
player reactions and maintaining positivity and focusing on the next play.
How would you describe him just the team you practice
and reaction this week coming off of a loss and
take into some day.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
I mean coming off a loss or a win. I
think we just have to make sure that we're consistent
in what we do. This league doesn't wait around for you,
doesn't feel sorry for you. There's somebody there, there's another hole,
you know, waiting for you to hit it. In the
woods or hit it down the midll of fairway if
you boge the first hole and you have to be

(04:46):
able to come back and answer. And those are the
things that we've tried to talk about. So what that
looks like, I don't know. I mean, we'll see really
when the game comes. Is how we respond through you know,
how we start to compliment each other and lift each
other up and and feed off each other and continue
to make positive plays and continue to maintain momentum. And

(05:06):
if we don't have it making a play that we'll
create it.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
If with Moses being questionable, what would be next up there?

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Would it be Low or Bryant?

Speaker 3 (05:16):
And could we see maybe a possible rotation given the.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Weather down there, I would say going backwards, yeah, you
could see a possible rotation anywhere right to try to
create that balance of guys that are, you know, playing
with some energy and some effort and the things that
you need to do to be able to strain and
win a football game.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Marcus would be the first one in.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Vedarian has worked hard throughout the spring and training camp
to get back, was active last week, so he would
be again an option as well. So from where he
was in the spring and trying to stay focused and
into it and rehab and recover. Yeah, I think he's
been working hard. What have you seen from Anthony and

(06:04):
Lush ponder just just geting back to the then new
training camp.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
And the seven very ready?

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Yeah, very ready. I mean I think Anthony is very ready.
You know, I had to make a tough decision last week.
We can only have so many guys active, and so
I'm excited to.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
See Anthony play. He's always been prepared.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
And taking advantage of his opportunities. He'll continue, I would imagine,
do that on on on Sunday and play hard and
play physical and be ready to go. And Elijah's earned
a role for himself on special teams and you know
see about working them in their own defense. After the
second preseason name he said this year one, we have

(06:49):
to get it right out of the regular season started.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
How do you balance along.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
You with the week to week or well, we're yeah,
I think that that's a really great question.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
I think it's about.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Preparing them to win, but then also continuing to develop
and build, like you said, and so again having things
and opportunities for the younger players, whether that's post practice
or the practice squad players and getting them what they
need and having reps for them afterwards so that they
can be coached, and talking about watching their tape tomorrow

(07:26):
morning with the coaches before the meetings so that they
can see their reps this week and their speed reps,
and you know, just trying to get the right balance.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
And I think that's the biggest thing.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
I mean, we have to prepare to win and play
to win and compete to win and.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Never lose sight of that. That's our short.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Term goal, and then the long term goal of you know,
just putting all the pieces together is something that you know,
I think everybody tries to focus on.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
Mike, you had a cool this week on radio where
you said we'll need a morecaust been fine to run
plan that we believe in. They gotta be wondering, how
does can you give the climis version on how you guys?

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Yeah, I mean no, no, no, no, I mean again,
this is and I and I know that doing a
radio show at six thirty on Monday morning after a
loss is probably gonna come back to haunt me in
and it's gonna get picked apart.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
And so I'll do my best to to try to
explain that after a week. But you know that's that's
the position. And we can all look over at Stacy,
but I get it. I'll be there every morning Monday
six thirty. No, it's just trusting the look. Trusting the look.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Right, we gotta we got to plan and you've got
to block support, you got it. And you can't always
figure out where they're gonna be, right, And so do
we motion to try to gain an advantage, do we
stay there and try to dig somebody out?

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Do we combination?

Speaker 2 (08:52):
And and really you just have to until you know,
you got to just line up and go with your
base rules.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
And I was.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Using leave the widest, right, You're gonna leave the widest
on some of these runs. You can't always, you know, block,
You're not gonna be able to block everybody. And so
we think, okay, there they're going to run this pressure,
they're going to react this way, don't We don't know,
you know. And so if we motion and there's two
guys over there and there's only one defender, then they're
not sound. But you know, we have to be able to,

(09:25):
you know, have some concepts in or passes in that
you know, allows us to throw the football over there,
not that you're gonna be able to do that and
mid you know, mid motion, but uh, just making sure
that if you don't know ran and you come out
of the huddle and then we're not We're going to
our base ules. We're not trying to like reinvent the

(09:45):
wheel when you're not sure. And sometimes that happens with
a new play. And again, we didn't know where they
were going to be on the one short yardage with Trayveon,
but we ran it. We gained fourteen yards. We were
decisi and we went as opposed to being, well, you know,
where where are we going to put the mic and
all this other stuff. So just just that was a

(10:07):
reminder of being decisive and being aggressive was all I
was trying to get at, not you know, we we
believe in everything that we're going to be doing, and
making sure that.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
We go into a game with things that, hey, this
is what we're gonna do.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
We got to put four hands on this guy, we
got to move, we got to know where you know,
a certain particular player is and making sure that you know,
we've got him handled.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
And those are things that come up each and every
week as far as keys.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
In terms of the plan, especially with like offense, Like
how do you do it?

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Like do you give a direction on Monday? The coordinators
check in and you approve. No. I usually sit in there,
you know.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
I mean I usually sit in there and go through
and I have ideas and they have ideas, and you know,
we'll have a run game meeting on both sides of
the football. We'll have a pass, you know, first and
second down pass, you know, and then you start to
to draw plays and cards and then you make sure
that our adjustments are sound before you get the tip

(11:05):
sheets ready for the players move on to short yardage
third down. But yeah, I'm I'm I'm bouncing back and
forth and trying to make sure and and focus on
who's gonna be playing, or who's available this week, or
things that we need to account for each and every week.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
