Speaker 1 (00:00):
What are you doing? Is it outside of windy? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Do you like love that?

Speaker 1 (00:08):
My reaction? I just got used to as how as
the Northeast. So I then trying to learn is that
good preparation that would have happened you day? Like thanks
considering that the weather on this Sunday. Yeah, that's why,
that's why, that's why it's good for us, because we
were going to practice outside in the element. So you
got to prepare and adjust to your script and adjust
how you practice, and it just how you do things

(00:28):
and you might make the stakes today, but you learn
from it. That's what helps you on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Are you surprised when teams hunt the markers and I
know it's not you're balan? Yeah, when he takes advantage
of it, like living Giants kind of pick the bills
will do that this week?

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Yeah. I think every every team has, you know, different personnel,
different punters, schematics and what they do and what they
believe in. So every team you play is a different force,
you know, Like I said, this seems a different team.
Then then we played the Giants and what they do,
so you always got to prepare to you know, they
can't always just plant it out of balance. So you're
always been prepared to have things set up and hopefully

(01:07):
you get an opportunity in every game with twenty five,
and you get opportunity for twenty five, then you have
the chance to take it to the house.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Why don't you enjoyed these games?

Speaker 1 (01:16):
You know?

Speaker 3 (01:16):
You SAIDs out playing for championship and knowing that all
three faces need to.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Be playing a lot of these before. So this is
my first time playing for a division championship, So I'm excited.
I'm so grateful that I'm part of this team, and
I'm grateful that the guys in the locker room that
have really put all the effort in there to be
in the position that they're in. And now it's as
I look at it for myself, it's like, I don't
want to let the guys down, So do everything I

(01:41):
can in my power, and hopefully they go out there
with a good game plan that that it makes sense
and that they can play fast and go enjoy the
moment with the team last.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Year, you know, following season, now it is this competing
for a division titles. What do you contribute to that
plick that turnaround so quickly? What is allowed this year
would be so different. As successful.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
I think it always starts at the top, you know.
I think our head coach has done an unbelievable job
and just instilling a good culture and consistent culture at
that and holding everybody accountable to that on a consistent basis.
And I think the guys have bought in. The guys,
the coaching staff, the players are all unselfish. Our equipment staff,
our training staff, cafeteria, they're all bought into a sole
purpose I think right now. So just got to continue

(02:22):
to do that and take it day by day and
just worry about today. And you know, we haven't won
anything yet, to be honest with you, so we still
gotta to me. You gotta win Wednesday before you can
move on to to Thursday and then Friday and all
that good stuff. And we'll tay Thursday, right, Yeah, I
tell you to win Thursday to go to Friday and
there on.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Jeremy, having played the Bills once already in terms of
special teams, you're much carryover or March you still have
to teach, you know, having already kind of.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
See what they do, yes, ma'am. And at the end
of the day, that was what week five I think
it was, or whatever it may be. You'd be surprised
how much teams change with personnel and injuries and things
like that, and how they evolved in an NFL season.
You know, in college you got twelve games, so you
kind of see the same thing in the NFL. I
think it changes drastically from earlier in the season to
end of the season because of those things. So, you know,

(03:14):
they still got their core guys, they still play really
good special teams, but there's some things differently that they've
done throughout the year, and they've kind of fixated on
what they do best and they're going to do what
they do. So there is some changes there and you
just got to prepare that way and hopefully, you know,
you watch all the film to make sure you cover
all your ends.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
At the end of the day, Petri said that and
has the most points of a rookie in franchise history.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Yeah, to check it out.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
But what has his journey been by I think you know,
there was a there was a competition in camp when
you wanted and then had a rough debut and then
to the point where he has the most rookie points
in history.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Yeah, I mean again, I think I've said it, you know,
weekly when you guys asked me. I just think it's
a credit to the kid first and foremost, or just
staying consistent and listening to coaching, listening to coaching, going
out there knowing that he doesn't have all the answers.
We don't have. None of us have all the answers,
but he doesn't have all the answers, and he can
take it from guys like coach Quinn, my assistant, who's

(04:17):
been you know, one on one with him a lot
working with that guy, and they've done a great job
of building a good relationship and he's done a tremendous
job with him. So listening to coaching and then rabel
giving us the keys man and just being patient with
them as a rookie, I think all kickers go through
a little bit of slump, especially in their rookie season
and throughout their career. And I think just being patient
with the kid, not giving up on the kids so
early when things didn't go maybe very well. And like

(04:38):
I said, credit to the kid man. He's got a
lot of confidence, a lot of moxie to him. He
doesn't get too high or too low. He just kind
of even killed and that's what you look for. And
kickers and specialists in this league. What are your thoughts
on having for coverage players with the whole digit tackles?
Is that you know, I'm thinking, is it rare?

Speaker 3 (04:54):
But with the kickoff now is.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
That kick now? It should be right? It should be
the norm now if you're covering every kick and that's
what we're doing. And you want to see guys in
double I means they're staying on the field, they're not
getting injured. That we're kicking off. That means were scoring points, right,
that's a good thing, and that they're the guys that
you put in place are being productive. The guys like Ellison,
Schooler and Gibbons and guys like Tovai, they're all doing

(05:16):
a great job for us right now and got to
continue to do it because again, you know we're going
to a new game. No one really cares what you
did two weeks ago, So it's all about now getting forward.
If I remember, was Raybul saying, like the last game
the Giants fifth kickover return, you guys were six coverage.
He's like, I won the top five kickoff coveraging, Like

(05:36):
is that something that he's been sort of Yeah, I
think I think the biggest thing is just challenging our guys.
Like this week, Buffalo's the summer seventh rank kioff re
turn team in the NFL. They've done a phenomenal job
the last three weeks after thirty one point five years
of carry, So I mean they're a very good return team.
They found their guy back there in twenty two he's
done unbelieve job. Had a nice seven yard touchdown against
the Houston Texans. So this is gonna be huge challenge
for us. And I think in a championship game like

(05:58):
it is this Sunday, you know, where can you, you know,
find the challenges in the game and where can they
beat you? And they can definitely beat us on that unit.
And so we got to we got home to that,
We got to come ready prepared and our best players
got to play.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
The best schooler does so much for you guys, obviously,
how did you feel like you know your unit's performed
without him?

Speaker 1 (06:17):
And I don't know if he's gonna be ready to play,
but it looks like he's sort of working his way
back out.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Excited would you be to guess?

Speaker 1 (06:23):
You can't really replace a guy like that in terms
of you just got to make sure that you have
a good game plan there you get everyone involved, and
I thought our guys did that a couple of weeks ago.
They did great jobs going out there, sticking to the
game plan, executing what was told and going from there.
And you know, Schoolers doing everything he can to get
back on the field, and he's always if he's on
the field for us, he's you know, one of the
best in the league. And then there's a reason for that.

(06:44):
So you can't really replace him, but you can find
ways the game plan to help your team out where
you're going to be deficient at You.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Were saying that this is one of the first championship
games you've ever been involved in. It soundly feels like
some guys from the locker room too, this is their.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
First experience a similar experience. What does a level of
energy excite, anxiety, enthusiasm in the buildings for as you
good cool? I think the way coach Rabel's done a
phenomenal job is amen. You know what got us here
was just put our head down, going to work, and
that's what we're doing. I mean, yes, it's a different
game with different manitude. But at the end of the day,
it's still Thursday. It's still gonna be Friday tomorrow. We

(07:18):
still gotta have a good game plan. We got it sick,
true to our identity and to keep doing the things
that we've been doing right there and get a little
better at some of the things we haven't done a
good job of. And that's how we're kind of attacking
it every day. Just put your head down, let's go
to work. Let's have the best Thursday we can have today.
Because if you don't do that, who cares about Sunday?
Like it only matters about today?

Speaker 3 (07:38):
See is the truth you think you used?

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Were honored by your high schoolsmaking.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Yeah, yeah, it was, uh yeah it was. It was good.
It was good to go back home South Texas. I've
been home in fifteen years, so it was good to
go back home and get honored in our high school
Hall of Fame. So it was really cool, wet.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Like a bronze bus.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Jeremy Springer, Yeah, I was a quarterback man, so I
had a decent career high school. But that's about it.
After that, I figured out I wasn't very athletic to
play at in college or in the NFL or anything
like that. So thrower throw and running, dull threat, dull
threat all the way. Not at all, Nope, I do.
I stay away fromim. I don't even talk to him.
Just go do it what you do, ten and I'll

(08:16):
just stay back and try to handle special things. Appreciate that.
I guys have a going s
