Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good afternoon. Yeah, what is the Dolphins special teams?
Speaker 2 (00:05):
What are they? A lot of aggressiveness is sort of.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
They're a veteran savvy team. You know, a lot of
guys on there that played a lot of football and
done a great job in this league playing football as well.
So a group that's that's been there, done that, They've
seen a lot of different things. So I expect to
see a really good challenge this Sunday.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
Just a follow up on a personnel thing, like when
you get Mark Robinson, Yeah, and accordate Valentine.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
In road like after we are forming a practice squader
in elevator.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Yeah, Like how M sure you involved in like identifying
those guys around the league?
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Who is that more than personnel staff and say say,
we know you need this yeris you know? Yeah, I
would say a lot of it our personnel staff on
that side of the ball. They do a great job.
And then we're able does a great job and sue
and trusting those guys, and then we get them and
you know, we already got to kind of understand what
they can do, and we kind of developed them throughout
the week or the two weeks that we got them,
and then they're off and rowing.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
After getting to look at the table, were some things
in week one that you felt your unit did positively?
Speaker 1 (01:02):
What were some things that need could be here and started?
For me? You know, I just think, you know, at
the end of the day, I want us to create
momentum for our special team front, for our for our team,
Like I want to flip the field position, great field position,
create positial momentum. That's our goal, and I don't think
we did that consistently enough. So those would be some
things that I really want to see are turning to do,
like no penalties, right penalties kill they kill drives and
(01:23):
just having that that mindset of uh, you know, every
play matters, it's a one player perfection. We get out there,
we get a four down or it's a kickoff that
you know, it's our chance to create positive menum for
the team. And I want to see us do that
this Sunday or moving forward more consistently than we did
this past Sunday. We started, you know, started fastening the game,
which is great. Uh uh any you know, ended up
making the field goals in the second half, which were great.
(01:43):
Those things like that are positives, but can we do
that sustain that the entire game is what I want
to see for more guys. And that just starts from
me being more consistent with them, you know, in terms
of the game plan. Make sure we got a good
game plan in place, and then make sure they're ready
to play and then they go light it up on Sunday?
Speaker 2 (01:58):
What would happen the forty yard? And I was that
related to any other missus in the summer.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
I just think, you know, some you know missus or missus,
there are just a number of things that could go
wrong on a miss and uh, you know, and he's
done a great nothing but a great job. He came
back in those next two fields knocked him down, and
sometimes you just might mishit it and and you know,
put the foot in the wrong place or tone the
wrong place, and or you know, you get a you know,
a bad a bad angle on it and you just
miss it, you know, And that's sometimes what happens with
certain guys. I think with him, it's just you know,
(02:25):
always going to be you know, can we get the
consistency and that's what we're looking for out of him,
And he's working at it and doing a great job.
And I expect him to move that going forward or
the mids like what happened on the forty yard just
just just a bad foot placement, you know, That's about it.
Sometimes the little thing like when you hit a golf
ball a little bit to the left right there, it
goes to the woods or whatnot, and that's kind of
what happens.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Him And I was just miss had like go back,
bounce back.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Yeah. Yeah. With those guys, I mean they're you know,
you make you make a mistake in a game as
a kicker or specialist, it's a lot more magnified because
you only get one play out there. So for those guys,
man during the game, I don't really talk to him.
I let him other thing, go back, regroup. You're gonna
be fine, Like it's not the first time in his
careers missed a field goal, right, So and then we'll
talk about it, you know, on Sunday, Monday or on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
(03:08):
and correct some things rough out practice and just making
sure that I'm doing a great job throughout the week
and still in confidence in him so that he's ready
to go on on Sunday's broad rushing forth. There's some
of those same aspects and play. When Rice had that punt.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
In the fourth quarter, he did have some good bunch
of day.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Yeah, And like I said, that's that's the consistent I
stopped about earlier. Was just like from the first quarter
the fourth quarter. Right, you start a game good and
then you in the game poor. You know, how can
we build that consistency as a unit? Every player coach
as well, Like, can I call plays the right way?
Can I make sure we put our guys in the
right assignment, alignment and execution in the fourth court that
I did in the fourth first quarter. It's the same
thing with our punter, same thing with our kicker, you know,
(03:44):
four punt in the fourth quarter. Hey man, uh, this
is how we started the game, just how we finished.
How can we get better and how can we practice
that throughout the week and make sure you're ready to
go when that happens again. How do you feel about
your death at the Jammer spot? I feel fine, you know,
feel we're getting guys ready to develop them and as
the season progresses, they'll continue to get better and we'll
be just fine there, hope.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Closely, Jeremy, you guys watching the kicking games or the
kickoffs in particular, it seems like a lot more returns
and we want to have to study all those to
see what teams are trying to do or the strategy
is still the same, that you're just more of them now.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Yes, I said that. I talked about that last week.
You know, we always I think it's around the league
the same thing. Everyone kind of looks at what everyone's doing.
So I check out all the kick returns from this
past week, and yeah, a lot more returns. As you know,
thirty five yard line and you want to return it
now and you want to try to get past it.
So it's really good to see around the league what
teams are doing because now you're seeing so many o them,
not just touchbacks, so you kind of getting a wide
(04:38):
range of all right, these four teams are doing this,
these five teams are doing this. You know what's really
working at the end of the day for certain teams.
And then as the season progresses, by week six sixty seven,
I think teams kind of settle into what they're really
good at and what they want to do for the
rest of the year.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Hereman, I know you told us last year, figuring me
if some of this is you know, precise and know
you would get ahead on the next opponent this week
and so next week obviously be the Steelers. Are you
still doing the same process or if not, how has
that changed.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
The same thing? I mean, you just got to stand
your routine. And now that we're in week two right now,
it's like, all right, I kind of know what the
week's like and what days I can do what and
when I can start working on the next opponent, then
I'll do the same things. It's my process, It's the
way I have to do with things. So mentally, I
could get you know, fixated into next week when the
time comes with.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Joe Cardon and we'll see him on this weekend and
Julian would be in there sort of time when.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
We take this house.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Yet, how is Julian doing the transition?
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Yeah, Julian's doing a great job. Man, He's working at it.
He's he's shown up every day in a positive attitude.
And you know, we've done a lot with him, a
lot of work with him throughout since OTA's and he's
continued to progress progress, and that's why we wanted to
be right now. And he's not going to be perfect
every single time, but I'm not either, right, So we
got to continue to get better and have that growth mindset.
I think he has that and he can continue to
do that, stay strong and learn the system and understand
(05:53):
what he's getting weak to week. I think he'll be
just fine.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
You mentioned earlier and he just you know, bouncing back
to the Miskick last week.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
How much do you think it helps it even as
a rookie. He's able to go to our stadium that
he's so.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Familiar with, that's great. I mean for those guys, I
think they just understand the stadium, they feel more confident.
So I think it's gonna be a good thing for
him to go home. Homecoming for him. He kicked in
that he got a lot of field goals in that stadium,
so I expect him to be locked in and understand
what's going to take to make a field go in
that situation, whether it's a fifty yarder or it's a
thirty thirty five yard or game winner. So I'm excited
to see how he progresses from we want to in Miami.
(06:23):
You have you know, You're and Tom which are the
two coaches?
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Is there a third that helps you out from.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
The time of time coach.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Definitely involved, man, I mean, Rabel can coach specially, I'll
tell you that much. He can do it all, so
if I wasn't here, he'd be just fine. His hands
all in on that and rock and rolling. Thanks, have
a good one.
