Speaker 1 (00:00):
A big week against Buffalo. Yeah, the focus is on Buffalo.
They're a great team.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
They played a great game versus Cincinnati, and now we're
back to you know, our business.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
A lot of young guys in this locker room, which
kind of message to them as you get ready for
the games getting bigger and bigger.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Yeah, usually you know, during their seasons and everything, it's
not as long as you know, the National Football League season.
So just telling him to prep, always be ready and
make sure to take care of the Boddy.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
And how much you embrace the opportunity to win an
AFC's title Sunday. Embrace it a lot.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
You know, we're playing the guys that you know won
the division and everything like that for you know a
lot of years, so being able to play this game
and everything at home. We want to take advantage of
the opportunity on.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Draccula and what he brings coming up on Sunday and
Josh Allen just plays to the final whistle.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Yeah, he was the MVP for a reason, you know
what I mean. He makes crazy plays, extend plays and stuff.
So we got to make sure to know, you know,
what he's going to do and take advantage of the
opportunities that you give us.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Mike was just saying that you Josh Allen, he never
gives up, is always in it towards the end. What
is it like for you guys as a defense going
up against and preparing for an offense who you know,
brings that kind of mentality that they're not just going
to three quarters in go well, this is not our day.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, from the first whistle to the last, you know,
we got to start fast and then also finish the game.
You know, like last game rest of Cincinnati, you know,
they came back and all the way into the final
whistle in a four quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
So there were points in this season when starting fast
was a point of emphasis, but not always a point
of success for the defense. Do you feel like you
guys have solved something there?
Speaker 2 (01:37):
I feel so that's something that we always have to do,
you know, every single week. Only because we did it
a couple of games doesn't mean, you know, you just
take your foot off the gas.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
So we got to still be able to start fast.
But the first time Mike mentioned you guys have talked
about the word champion. How much you appreciate that and
how much again is a part of just rapping things
up for you guys as a team with your expectations. Yeah,
our expectations is that that's the first thing. Of course.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
You know, saying the word or saying that in the
sentence doesn't mean anything unless you know you're able to
do it. So we're trying to take advantage of this
week and then build from there.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
What have you noticed from the crowd this year? Oh,
they're very intune.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
You know, they're making it harder for the opposing teams
and we love that, especially on the defensive side.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
And then the energy at home.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
You know, we're able to make more players whenever we
feel as though the fans are more involved.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Last week told us that this was the best locker
room he's ever been part of as a captain on us.
How does that feel when you've heard that from a
free agent who came in the summer.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Yeah, I love to hear that.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
You know, we built relationships from OTAs all the way
to training camping to this point of the season. A
lot of guys are more connected, having more conversations more
than just football conversations, and whenever those things happen, it
helps us, you know, relationship wise.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
I want to play harder for the guys on the field, How.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
Special is it to be having, you know, this season
of success after you know, communities.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
It means a lot. We work hard. You know, in
the National Football League we're a one percent for a reason.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
So being able to get you some things like that
after the hard work that we put in into the season,
it means a lot.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Five weeks, a chance to reflect, what have you seen
from this defense that you'd like to do better going forward?
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yeah, for sure, Always start fast, that's the main thing.
Take advantage of opportunities, especially on defense. We ain't turn
the ball over some more and then get the ball
back to ten. You know, he's been doing really well
and everything. He's way more comfortable. And then those guys
on the.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Office side, you can definitely say that they have a
lot of confidence. Appreciate for sure.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
It was nice, you know, catch up, you know, get
nine hours of sleep every night, catch up with your
loved ones. Then you know, get away from everybody for
a little bit. Love, love the guys, love the guys.
But it's like, you know, nine hours a day over months,
it's like, yeah, let's go do our own mission. We'll
see each other real soon. Yeah, it was nice to
catch up on rest and spend time with loved ones.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Such a late buye good in some ways too.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Also short season ahead if you start with Sunday against Buffalo.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Yeah, no doubt. I mean that's the beauty of it.
I mean you can look at it either, you know,
one or two ways, right. You can look at it
as like woe's me or like this is an advantage,
you know, right, getting the latest bi week in the league.
You know, just when all the bumps and bruises are
mounting up, you gotta have some some long sleeping days
to help recover and get the legs back underneath you.
(04:17):
So I mean everyone's coming back refreshed, rejuvenated, ready to
get after work here in about forty minutes or so.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
How much you embrace the opportunity to win the AFC
East on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Yeah, that's what you play for, right, I mean, obviously
I got the opportunity to come back here again, so
it feels a little different this time here, you know,
being able to really compete for this division. So, I
mean this is if you're a competitive individual, this is
exactly the situation you'd want to be.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
How much do you look at Buffalo and think, you know,
as an offense, we've got to compete full sixty minutes
because of what they're able to do to the end
of games.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Yeah, I mean their quarterback won an MVP. I mean,
they're they're never out of it. I mean there's especially
with that guy. He's one throwaway from bombing at send
the yards down the field and being right back in
the football game. So I mean, you cannot take a
nap out there. We heard Mike after the game is
a long time agoing nowt but you refer to you
guys as champions, he said, and compete like champions or
something to that affecting locker room after game?
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Are you like a manifestation guy?
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Like do you is it good to hear that word
and think of yourselves in that way? Like what does
it do to hear that here you guys referred to
in that way?
Speaker 4 (05:21):
Yeah, I mean it's cool. But at the end of
the day, right, like it's just a byproduct of work.
It's just like doing the boring stuff the ordinary extraordinary,
So I mean it sounds pretty cliche, but I mean
there's really no secret to this thing, So you know,
it's awesome. When your head coach is like, all right,
like this is the type of work we're putting end.
But you know that also comes with the price that
you got to pay daily, so appreciate it. But it's
(05:41):
like we gotta we gotta go earn it today for
a bonus Monday.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
I'm a stupid question for me. Oh let's go, how
do you get better in the in the red zone?
Speaker 4 (05:50):
Oh well, you're asked for some proprietary answers. Huh not
getting those? Uh?
Speaker 1 (05:55):
I go, well for a cliches, actually.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
Cliche, I got you know, it's about doing your one eleven,
you know, fishing longer than guy with the ball, you know.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
But I think it's.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
About just execution, right. It sounds cliche, but that's what
it is. I mean we take a look at it.
We really aren't as far away as it feels like
for us sometimes, like because we'll look at it together
as an offense in back gosh, man, you know, you
know one thing here, one thing there. So I mean,
give you a cliche. I mean, it's about getting back
to work, man, And it's like we got to practice it.
We got to be on the same page. All eleven
(06:25):
of us tied in together and wrap it and build
some confidence.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Get a lot of success early with the Dolphins, and
thenby's your career gets longer and.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Speak speaking cliche. Yeah, make you appreciate and how that
experience again it'll run like this.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Yeah, absolutely. I mean I came in this league. I
was just like, wow, I had a Bowl game last year,
I have a ball game this year, like this is
the NFL, and it's like had have have had some
lean years across a few different organizations since then. So
I mean, it definitely allows you to we put smell
the roses a little more, appreciate your surroundings that much more,
and you'll be able to understand opportunities now here if
(07:08):
you want to take it.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Thanks, I appreciate it.
