Speaker 1 (00:00):
How you doing.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
I'm good, I'm good, I'm good. Oh yeah, Nah, it
was a great trip. I don't think a lot of
people know how many fans that we have in Germany,
but it was great to go to Dusseldorphin for a
great cause and everything for just a situation of flag
football overseas for sure.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
How are the voluntary workouts I've been going so far?

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yeah, they're going great.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
It's a great thing to end up seeing everyone back
in the building, you know, talking about what everyone did,
you know, in their off season and stuff, but now
we're back and taking it, uh, one day at a time. Yeah,
I ski your brother step On DIDs just haven't competed
against them.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
What makes him a tough cover? What is your thoughts
on happening this part?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
He's been in the league for a little minute, and
you know, he has one of those unique traits when
it comes down to he's very strong as a receiver.
You know, he's not the crazy the size that people
always think, but just having him on the team is
great to have as well.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Are you see been through a couple of iterations of
different coaching staffs.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
Now at the Patriots, what are your first impressions and
working with this current staff.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
In the building.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Yeah, I actually met Mike Rabel during the pre draft
process whenever he was at Tennessee. He's a great guy
whenever I met him back then, and I'm happy to
be back in the building and he brings that incitement.
And then also he's one of those guys to where
whenever we are doing something, he likes to be hands on.
So just having that in the building and this, you know,
the excitement, having the music playing and everything like that

(01:35):
in the hallways is great to be around.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Hands on.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Is he like spotting weights.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
For you guys?

Speaker 2 (01:39):
I'm saying that, but I know whenever we get out
there on the football field, he'll probably be grabbing a bag,
helping the d line and helping us and everything like
that too.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
As DV So, so pre draft, did you take a
thirty there meeting him at the comline?

Speaker 1 (01:52):
What were those conversations like him?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yeah, I took a pre draft visit and basically just
getting to know him as a person and everything. Whenever
I did talk to him, I was like, you know,
it was great to end up talking to him, and
then it was like normal conversations and everything. So to
comes to Travis Hunter or Travis Huns comes to you.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
I definitely understand the situation of playing.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Both sides, but his level of how he was doing
it and everything like that was definitely different from mine.
But I hope the best for him, you know, just
being able to do it in the league. It's definitely
hard to do, but I hope that he, you know,
takes advantage of the opportunity.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
For sure.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Do you hope you play.

Speaker 5 (02:33):
Both sides again?

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Same question every single time. I mean, if it happens,
it happens. But my main thing is to, you know,
learn the new defense and then kind of go from there.

Speaker 5 (02:43):
So you think it's possible to play both sides on
a full time basis like he wants to do.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
I feel like it's one of those situations to where
whenever people were first saying, you know, you can't really
play both sides in general in the league, you know,
and then I get here and then eventually, you know,
I start playing, but playing both sides, I'm not gonna
say you can't do it, but it's a very long season.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Learning learning did your defense he's not processed heart already?

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Oh yeah, for sure. We actually started installing and everything
like that.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Today, I feel as though, you know, we're taking it
one day at a time, so we're not It's not
one of those situations to where they're throwing all the
playbook at you at one time, but we're taking the
day by day.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
What are you've seen so far? How different is it
from the past defenses?

Speaker 2 (03:31):
The main thing that I would say is, uh, the terminology.
I feel as though, you know, everyone has a certain
way to where how they love to install. But the
main thing that we have to learn is to different
verbiage and the terminology. So just learning that, Marcus, as
often as you go through change in the NFL, this.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Officer is not only the coaching staff. The changes in
a lot of room, especially at the defense. What's the
feeling when you walk in there and the guilty So
they got these community leaders on that defense. There is
more and you're getting know other guys would be in
that position ship this year for free agency.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yeah, in this league, I mean, change happens twenty four
to seven and due to that, you know, we all
do respect, you know all the guys that ended up
coming through the locker room before. But it's a new
year and We're happy for the guys that are gonna
be captains and guys that's gonna you know, pave the
way for us for the future.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Well, in your case is now from Europe position now
where you have enough first basis organization to qualifiers with
the most tender patriot tis what does what does it mean? Beautiful?

Speaker 4 (04:32):
Now?

Speaker 5 (04:32):
Does that change?

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:35):
The main thing I would say of how it changes
for me is I'm always a lead by example type
of guy. But then the challenge is also like I'm
not crazy vocal whenever it comes down to it, but
uh now I need to start, you know, being a
little bit more vocal and just kind of going from there, right, okay.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Just waiting to trail a little lar system.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Josh, allus is a passion trels completely new year. What
are you seeing?

Speaker 5 (04:58):
Perm it?

Speaker 3 (04:58):
And just what's it important?

Speaker 2 (05:00):
We actually met and everything whenever I did come in
a little earlier in February.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Great guy, you know, passionate guy.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
You could tell that he loves the game of football
and just happy to be in a building. End up
you know, learning, end up teaching us the things that
we need to learn.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
You played, Josh McDaniels, I believe your rookie season.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
What do you remember about the preparation process getting ready
for his offense?

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Oh, Josh, he's top of the top. Whenever we did
play Vegas, it was a lot of different formations. You know,
you never knew what they would kind of do in
certain situations. But it was just one of those situations
to where you definitely have to lock in, watch a
lot of film and kind of go from there. So
he has some tricks in the bag for sure whenever
we played them.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
So just it's crazy.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
Marcus.

Speaker 5 (05:43):
You mentioned being here in February. How much have you
been in a facility? What are you trying to get
done when you're here?

Speaker 1 (05:50):
First off, I took advantage of my off season. That
was the first thing. I was able to spend time
with family. That was the main thing. And then I
actually just came back so.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
Vision to be liked to play forball coach team.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
The main thing is, uh, not looking too far into
the future. You know, we're happy to be back with
some people. You know, they're like, oh man, the season's coming,
but it's way more things we have to do. Like
I said, install we got OTAs, then we got training
camp and kind of going from there. So the excitement
is that we're in the room and we're in the building.
And then also, like I said, just taking it one

(06:25):
day at a time that semantically and I'm.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Focused on does he hammer that home?

Speaker 3 (06:28):
That point home?

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Oh for sure?

Speaker 2 (06:30):
You know, don't get overwhelmed basically, and just basically tell us,
you know, we're gonna take it slow and kind of
go from there.

Speaker 5 (06:36):
Workers acid from the dude terminology. Conceptually, I think, strike
you about this defense and how would you describe it?

Speaker 1 (06:43):
We just started, so it's still early.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
You know.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
I feel as though as time going that I can
kind of answer that question, but it's still early.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Playing as does break.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Wek it taste some kind of out now? Yeah, yeah,
no he does. He hits a lot of genres. So yeah,
how did you.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Say your interests the honest now when you have more
time to do it.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Yeah, music has always been, you know, a thing that
I've loved. Being able to end up going to Germany
was kind of crazy. And then also, uh, what I
did was I came into the building and everything. I
met some kids out there and in Germany, and it
was kind of crazy because they ended up making a
song for me, and then I'm also going to be

(07:24):
recording to the song as well, so hopefully you know,
that does something to where the creative process, you know,
I'm trying to build with that and just kind of
go from.

Speaker 5 (07:33):
There's the music different in Germany.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
I feel as though the genre first off, the language.
Let's let's start there, guys. Let's let's definitely start there.
But honestly, you know, it's I don't feel as though
as any difference because they have the same genres over
there as well, So that was the main thing.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Language for sure.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
You have to spend your time with Carlton Davis so
far and have been the first impressions.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Oh no, I haven't not yet.

Speaker 5 (07:57):
You're doing all right after last night Markers.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Oh yeah, I'm good. First off, guys, that's what I
wanted to open the floor to.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
If you guys don't know, you know, University of Houston
is my guys, and we had a great season and everything,
and you know, I hate for it to come today
and like that, but we fought hard and everything, so
it's forever gonna be.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Gokoog's so.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
Going very much stuff all right.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
I was the first two days of off.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
Work it's going great. Getting to know the guys. Uh, grinding, competing,
you know, it's been great.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
It's been like reacclivating yourself to the area and just
getting used to it.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Uh, it's been it's been a little crazy. I mean
it's been raining here a lot lately, but but nah,
it's fine. Yeah, it's fine. Like I don't mind the weather,
and yither does my family. So I'm honestly excited for
my kids to get up here and to actually be
able to experience a real winner. I know they're excited

(09:01):
about that, and I can't wait to get this thing going.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
You see, guy, how about you? You followed the program?
You know, see if you've been drafted obviou see spent
years now.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
But how about you?

Speaker 3 (09:10):
You followed the program, and have you been back to campus?
So will you be back to campus?

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (09:16):
Yeah, I'll follow them each season. Uh, me and my
wife because she came up with me this weekend to
look at houses and whatnot, and we drove through the
campus and it's just crazy how how beautiful and how
far it's come since since I was there, The football facilities,
all of it, Like, it's just crazy. I just I'd
imagine that it costs a little more to go there now,

(09:38):
but now it's definitely a beautiful campus and I can't
wait to get back on campus and you know, be
around that football team as well.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
For playing for Mike.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Rable and what do you mean to your early part of.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Her Oh, He's meant a lot. He's played a big
role in my development as a player and also as
a person. And I was excited to come back because like,
he knows my skill set, he knows how you know,
I operate, and I think throughout my career he and
his staff hasn have done a great job of putting
me in positions to go out and be productive and
help the team. And that's what I'm looking forward to.
And that was one of the main reason why I

(10:10):
came here, because I knew Raide and his staff knew me.
The familiarity with the scheme and all of it. It
just fits, you know, what I do with my skill set.
Can you walk us through that process up when you
got released and deciding where you're going to play next?

Speaker 3 (10:25):
Like, did you know immediately that you wanted to reach out.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
To Mic and like set this up?

Speaker 4 (10:29):
Did go? Yeah? I mean it was definitely uh that
was definitely kind of the case. Like I, once I
saw how things were going, and you know, the writing
was on the wall, this was definitely a place that
I wanted to be. You know, I was getting excited
about the staff he was putting together, and I just
feel like this was the right place for me, and
I'm excited to be here.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
Marcus Jultz was just telling us about his initial impressions
of a Mike Rabel off season program. Music played in
the hallways? What else can your do temmates expect? Having
been through several programs of Mike.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
This the year, Uh, just like upbeat. He wants everybody
to be excited when they come to work. He's big
on that. He's big on energy, and yeah, that's just
who he is. He's you know, everybody looks at him
as his head coach, but he really he's really just
one of the boys, a locker room guy, and I
really mean that. He wants to get to know you,
know about your family and everything that goes along with

(11:21):
being in a relationship with you. And that's pretty much.
He's the same guy every day, too, very consistent person.
He's not going to switch it up on you at all,
and that's what you can expect. And he's big. He's
big on treating you how you treat the team. You
treat the team of respect. He's got nothing but respect
for you. The same question and prables music teams. I mean,

(11:46):
it's all right. It's not something that I buy to
every day, but it gets the juices gone. I guess. So, yeah,
I mean whatever flows his boat.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
You know what I'm saying, Herold, you.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
Regend your staff, Darrell Williams as the DC, what your
impressions are working with him and as a staff overall
the cohesiveness they had in Tennessee.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
You know, what are your impressions of why.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
They work together?

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (12:10):
No, I feel like they work together as far as
I feel like when they're like putting together a game
plan or you know, trying to figure out, you know,
who belongs where. I feel like they do a great
job of of When I say working together, it's it's like,
I don't know, they do a great job of figuring
out who they have on the roster on that side

(12:31):
of the ball, what are their skill sets and putting
them in a position to be successful. I feel like
that's what they've done me and that's what they've done
with a lot of great players in Tennessee and what
I expect them to do here. I feel like we
have a very talented roster, especially on the defensive side
of the ball, and I'm excited of you know, the
pieces and where they're going to place people and you
know what they're gonna do with all of us. But
they're definitely a tight knit group and and I like

(12:52):
that you can expect them to because you know throughout
the season, stuff's gonna happen, you know what I'm saying.
And it's nice to know that this staff is going
to stay in the fox A'll stick together, and they're
going to find a way to come out and find
a way to be successful those lines.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
You've been a part of it when it's cranking and
going really well. How would you describe or best described
a mic rable defense working on all cylinders?

Speaker 3 (13:18):
And what's that like to watch? Nah?

Speaker 4 (13:20):
I mean, it's amazing because, like I said, they do
a great job of identifying player skill sets and putting
them out there in positions to succeed. And I think
the biggest thing that obviously we're going to pride ourselves
on is playing hard, playing fast. He really values effort
and finish, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
You want to see as many hats as you can
in the picture at the end of the play around
the ball. And I think as long as we maintain

(13:41):
our style of play that they're trying to implement here,
even if you might not have fit up a run
gap perfectly or getting played with the greatest technique, that
style of play is what's gonna result and wins. You
know what I'm saying. You don't have to worry about
going out there and playing perfect because you know your
boy in the back end, or the boy or the
guy next to who's going to have your back and
make up for it with his effort and his style
to play.

Speaker 5 (14:02):
You're used in so many different ways in Tennessee, but
here specifically, pass rush has been a pretty big issue.
So how would you describe yourself as a defender, even
more specifically.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
As a pass rush Yeah, no, I kind of I
pride myself on being versatile and productive. I want to
be a guy that, like you said, they can move
me around, but also they can just keep me on
the edge and I can win a one on one
and I can go and be productive. But I want
to be that Swiss army knife as some say, or
whatever the case may be. But I pride myself on
being productive, versatile, and consistent. I try to be as
consistent as I can be each week, whether that's preparation, nutrition,

(14:32):
whatever the case may be. I try to be the
same person every day, and I think that leads to
my best results. But yeah, I just want to be
that versatile guy that they can move around and go
out and make plays for the team.

Speaker 5 (14:42):
When you were in Tennessee with Mike for those six years,
you guys want more games as underdogs and basically every
team in the league. What were you guys doing differently
than the thirty one other teams to be able to
win that many games when you weren't expected to win?

Speaker 4 (14:58):
Honestly, I think it was mainly just because we're such
a close knit group and like we really valued each
other and we played hard for each other. We didn't
want to let each other down, and I think that
showed on the film and on the tape.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
But also.

Speaker 4 (15:11):
I feel like one of the main jobs as a
for a head coach to make sure your teams prepared
situationally and all I know is as long as I've
played for Raves, there was never a situation I wasn't
prepared for. Like I don't care what the score was
in the fourth quarter. I don't know. We just always
had a feeling that we was gonna pull this out.
It didn't matter what the score was going into the
fourth and we just always found a way to win.

(15:31):
It's crazy. We just found a way to win. And
that was just kind of the mentality. We just didn't
think we could could lose, to be honest, no matter
what was going on in the game.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
You mentioned the weather, But what else do you remember
about being in Boston or were there any spots in
particular that you liked? Uh?

Speaker 4 (15:48):
What do I remember? That was a while ago. I mean,
this is where I met my wife, so that's a
big us. My best friend, It's why I met here.
Best spots that I used to eat at. I don't
know if this place is still in business, but they
used to have the space that was right down the
street from BC where it was like twenty five cent

(16:09):
Wings or something like that, or Fugaku that's around BC.
That used to be a place that we used to
go to. It's top of the hub still here. It's
not here no more. See, I got to get out
and explore. But it's just me right now. Families back
in Tennessee. But yeah, I don't really. It's been a
long time, but now I'm definitely excited to be here.

(16:31):
I know my family is juiced up to come here.
A new experience for all of us, really, and yeah,
I think we're just all excited, ready to get to it,
appreciate it,
