Speaker 1 (00:01):
Good. Who opened it up for me? First question? First question?
Speaker 2 (00:06):
What up?
Speaker 3 (00:07):
Okay, yeah, really the communication, yes, sets pad level pretty much.
You know, we don't have paths on right now, so
I'm sure a lot of people, like a couple of
(00:28):
plays into a series, they might might have a high
path level or be standing up pretty much. So it's
just important, uh working those details that you need to
win during the rep.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Huh. Yeah, I feel good about it.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
We've got a really great room, uh for the potential,
a lot of guys, everybody can play pretty much.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
I'm happy about it. They're good. Uh.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
I think for my first impression was pretty much when
I've seen him set like you just got smooth feet,
moves well through air, so it's pretty in control of
his body and his movements.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Like yeah, yeah, it's been dope. We've both played a
little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
In our in our career, so I mean it's it's
nice just talking and just uh seeing viewpoints on how
we view things or how we see certain defensive looks
or personnels. Yeah, yes, yes, Morgan has been really good
in a room and just really sharing his knowledge just
of play experience and then just you know, just being
a vent being then order guy putting us, putting us
onto things.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Thanks for Garrett. Yeah, it's been good. It's been good.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Likewise, Gary is really knowledgeable his place in it for
a long time, Watchington when he was at Minnesota, So
I mean, like he's he's a good center. We've you know,
it's I'm getting back to offense that I'm familiar with.
So we've all been collectively sharing knowledge and information and
snakes over on the same dage, you knowing what we're
all talking about. Yeah, Uh, it's a little bit similar
(02:01):
pretty much, you know, kind of kind of the same. I'm
not gonna say same, but plays I'm familiar with, so
just different names and.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Stuff like that. You guys here, Yeah, yeah, for a
little bit.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
You know, I've been talking to all the coaches, just
sharing my insight on how it was before and prior.
But I've seen in New Year you don't want to
do things like the past. So it's been good the
coach a little bit. It's really coming from everywhere. It's
especially in our room. I mean just how we talk
about things and how we view things. So yeah, to
(02:38):
keep it out nothing pretty much. I rehab in my hand.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Yeah, former time.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
You said talk about my impression. Oh, I'm sorry, I
didn't hear that. Doug has been cool. Douk has been
been a really good coaching scheme from everybody else to
Cooog's uh uh. Like I said, it's age. It's a
lot of knowledge in a room a lot of people.
That's been a lot of places. So we've all been
picking each other's brains and putting it on the same
sheet and making sure that we're all saying the same
(03:09):
things and talking about the same things that.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Experience from all right, welcome everywhere. Man.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
You know, we're especially as an OLM, and we're a group.
We work together, it's not individualized. So I think the
more we talk and the more we know what each
other is gonna do, whether it's first line, second line,
wherever it's up there, you know, making sure we're all
saying the same things if you re firs to.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
View it with the same viewpoint.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. David, they really just David really
helped me really throw my whole career just being as
a pivotal piece of center and then just knowledgeable whether
it's football or just life.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
He's been a great player.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
I've watched him and looked up to him, so, you know,
see him retire, you know, I'm sad to see him go,
but you know, he's definitely an It's been an our
worker his whole life and whole career, so he's definitely
earned it. David probably just going off his house pretty much. Uh,
during the summer, we would just always like barbecue and
just bregnant guys together. So it's always nice going over
(04:14):
his house. He has a pool too, so it was
always nice doing some cannonballs and all that.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Oh yeah, yeah, very much. You know, I try to
to look at him and try to model my game
after him. You know, a lot of things don't really matter,
you know, especially when you step on the field, when
you step between those lines, just a play that's called
and the guy that's crossing you. So try to just
live that way.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Now.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
I think he does have coaching, but you know, at
this point, you know, he got two young kids. I'm
sure he wanted to enjoy that life with both his sons.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
So condition there this time of year.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
Is that as to what you're doing right now and
what kind of condition do you feel like you're in
it at this.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
I feel great, I feel strong, I feel fast, I'm
ready the ball.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
That's a big part of it is just getting into
that shape that you want to be football safe in general.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
You know, whether it's the plays or whether it's conditioned
on the side, you know, it'll all just help with
playing in the games and playing those long series and plays. Yeah,
I appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Damn cool. Good he are you guys?
Speaker 4 (05:29):
As a video.
Speaker 6 (05:31):
From the last time back into the break down at
the end, I just wondering what happened there and why.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
I didn't really think about it too much. I just
saw him trying to get the huddle. We were about
to break it down, so I just put my arm
around him, like, no, everyone, everyone's breaking it down together.
We're a team. We're gonna break it down as a team.
We're gonna start his team finished as a team. So
it was just one of those things I don't really
think about. It was just all I'm trying to leak
out of there and just grab him real quick, and
I was like, no, let's break it down. So it
wasn't It wasn't anything too crazy was.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
The reaction the kickoff?
Speaker 4 (06:04):
Nothing not like, nothing too crazy. I think it was
just like a few few tweaks that they did. So
we're gonna we're gonna address on our end and you know,
whatever rules they come out with, we're gonna, you know,
do our best to come up with, you know, ways
for us to be you know, great, great on the
field when we're out there for special teams.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
You're special teams right now.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
Uh yeah, I think so. I mean I'm definitely trying
to take take on that role. As you know. Now
I'm like the old guy in the room, which is
kind of funny to say. And so yeah, I'm just
trying to take all these like young guys under my
wing and you know, teaching little tips that I had,
you know, Cody Davis, Justin Bethel, Matthew Slater have all
those guys like they were giving me those tips on
the field. So anything I could do for these young guys,
even like the older guys who maybe didn't play as
(06:42):
many special teams reps last year, you know, if they're
at other places. So anything I can do for anybody
on the on the football field when we're especially on
special teams, I try, you know, just do do the
best I can.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
I think he's he's he's grown tremendously. I think he
looks more comfortable on the field. He's flying around, he's
out there making play. So you know, it's it's it's
awesome to see a young guy develop, you know, from
his first year to do to to his second year.
And I mean that should be everyone's mindset, no matter
what year in is just to develop, do everything you
can to be on the football field to make plays.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Sorry, question back into the last week was that what
was that reason?
Speaker 4 (07:19):
What was it for? And yeah, like I said, I
don't think there's anything too crazy. Were we were about
to break down the huddle to start practice and I
saw him trying to slip out and I just put
my arm around him. And it wasn't me, you know,
just trying to you know, be that be that guy,
and you know in the huddle, have everyone break it down,
but just you know, break it down as a team.
You know, we start together, finish together, and where you know,
it's a team sport, so we need we need everyone
in the huddle. Yeah, oh he got out of there
(07:41):
for sure. Yeah. Yeah, what's that like?
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Having him?
Speaker 3 (07:43):
He seems like he's hands on and it doesn't matter offense, defense,
special teams, and every play he's talking to guys and.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Pointing out everything else.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
Yeah, I think I think he just understands, you know,
being being an ex player and playing at a high level,
how important every snap is. Whether you're on offense, defense,
special teams. You know, if you're a kicker, if you're
a whole you're a snapper, if you're our starting quarterback
or left tackle, every every player on the field is important.
So I think he just understands that really well and tries,
you know, relay that message to all of us at
all times.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
What have you seen.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
For Hugan, Yeah, I mean they're they're they're flying around
making plays. You know, it's awesome to see young guys
come in here and you know, do it, do what
they're ass and go out there and make plays because
that's ultimately going to help O help us win as
a team.
Speaker 5 (08:26):
Were you excited to see the touch back?
Speaker 4 (08:31):
Yeah, I mean obviously, like I want to cover every
kick while I'm out there because that's, you know, ultimately
going to help myself and help the team. So selfishly, like,
I'm very happy about it. So hopefully hopefully we get
we get to cover more kicks this year. Awesome, Thank
you guys.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
How are y'all doing good?
Speaker 4 (08:59):
Yeah? Hell yeah?
Speaker 1 (09:01):
What do you feel like you guys accomplished today?
Speaker 5 (09:04):
You know kind of hole, Oh wow, I don't like that,
you know, kind of the same thing. We're trying to
do every OTA, just like Sack days. Uh, you know,
learn the system, get cemented in our techniques, you know.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Yeah. Cool.
Speaker 7 (09:18):
The last two years he's dealt with a lot of
adversity and meaning threw an injury, then having the injury repaired.
How do you feel here in this spring, coming into
a year trying to build some momentum and be in
the place maybe.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
When you need to first.
Speaker 5 (09:31):
Yeah. Uh, honestly, it feels really good. It feels awesome
to just be healthy for OTAs and just be able
to be out here and work on it.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
This time last year, I was just like learning how
to walk, so uh, because I felt very blessed.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Cool, full off that kind of throw away at the end.
Speaker 7 (09:50):
Of last season you got out of Oh you want that.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
I'm just.
Speaker 8 (09:57):
At the end of last season always.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
I feel like it was just good to, you know,
to to get back into some sort of rhythm of
playing football, you know, because what was it December twenty
three pretty much to like November December of twenty four.
No football for me really, you know what I mean.
So it's like, I mean, y'all understand, whenever you hadn't
done something for a year, you just get rusty. So
just being able to get back out there and get
some practice, traps playing the game, see that speed.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
I think it was good.
Speaker 5 (10:26):
It just sort of like, you know, shocked me back
into it and then being able to be healthy for
OTAs as long as I can. Uh yeah, because I
wasn't really a choice. There's no way, and I'm not
saying it was them. I didn't want to do that.
(10:48):
I wanted to come back and play. That wasn't even
a decision and snaps up the center, you know, really
wherever they put me. I'm just trying to be as
versaal as I can add value wherever I can and
just get on the field.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
We were you able to work on this all season,
Maybe that you're weren't able to win, uh.
Speaker 5 (11:13):
I mean, I wouldn't say it's necessarily anything new other
than last off season. I didn't work on anything, you know,
same old, same old stuff. As far as the light room,
you know, strengthening uh, entire body, trying to work on movement. Yeah,
I wouldn't say it was different from any other year, Yes, sir,
and working with.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
Doctor Rome maybe a different style to the Uh, it's
been really good.
Speaker 6 (11:35):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
You know some of the stuff he teaches as similar
to what I've learned in the past, and you know,
not kissing up, just being honest. I really like his style.
He's very approachable, you know, he's very honest, and I
have a lot of respect for that.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
I like, well, you know, he gets after it, he hustles,
he works his butt off, and he's not, you know,
too loud. So I think it's a good thing for
a rookie, like, you know, don't come in here and
be running your mouth.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
That's what I was told.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
At least specific things that you got from David Andrews
that you'll you'll remember that where he's been, where he's
officially retiring today, or the other things.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Yeah, anything, things that he said, things that he did.
Speaker 5 (12:15):
That that were valuable to you as you learned how
to be an NFL player. Yeah, yeah, I think so
for sure. Unfortunately, a lot of this stuff I probably
wouldn't want to repeat right here.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
But yes, there is there a PG example you can give.
You know, just you know, control what I can control.
Where about myself?
Speaker 7 (12:37):
You have a public job that attracts a lot of attention,
and having been a first round pick that means he's
going to be even greater attention. Or do you look
at the way the your career has gone so far
and so clarity pressure in yourself because the outside opinion
is well col Strange hasn't played like the first round.
Speaker 5 (12:56):
I'm just being no, no, no, yeah, I will say
the truth is you know, Uh, just like I was
just saying, all I can really do is control what
I can control, you know, pray to God I don't
have any more injuries, and you know, as long as
that takes care of itself, I'll handle what I can
handle'mn't really worried about any of those opinion.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
Well, your anger is kind of always brought up as
a subject of discussion.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Is that something that you feel and you're confident in
growing out this year or is it you know relative
indrees till last year.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Yeah, I feel confident it.
Speaker 8 (13:26):
Questions has been learning Josh system in the past, how
arduous it can be?
Speaker 1 (13:34):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (13:35):
No, I like it it's similar a little sort of
similar to what you know, I had my rookie heere
So in some regards it's been a little easy because
you know, I'm familiar with some of it. But I
mean it's really no different than ay playbook. You kind
of just gotta like dedicate time to learning.
Speaker 8 (13:49):
It's like a gid next to or working on the
old lines like works ta what do you has been around?
Speaker 1 (14:04):
Uh? That is really dumb.
Speaker 5 (14:05):
I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. Uh No, I think
that can be you know, positive thing. Anytime you have
a rookie, like you know in game situations like bultterflying,
having someone who you know just communicates very effectively. I
think that's a really good thing.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
Yeah, for sure. Up everybody going good. I think it's
just adults, is Uh what's it been like for you?
And you're trying to get back on the at home?
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Uh kind of just the same as you know any
other year.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Got back to it a little late this year.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
Uh, I know something's going on in my life, but
you know the same, same, same principle, same you know
standard and you know I'm out here now and I'm
trying to get myself back into you know, shape and
get ready for camp.
Speaker 8 (14:54):
Working a lot with Tony, dudes, what are you kind
of things over there, and.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
He can help a lot. Uh.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
You know a lot of the drills we do are
you know, game specific translated to the game.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
So I love what we're doing over there.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
Individual And like you said, y'all, I'm over there with
him in special teams, meeting while they're doing special teams.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
So just getting a little bit more extra working explosive,
explosive guy.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Uh, he's learning, He's learning pretty quick, and I'm excited
for him.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
It was a man alert.
Speaker 8 (15:35):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
I know I had to win, and you know, my
guy Drake threw it up to me. Uh it's like
the first ball.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
This whole o t a. So I'm glad I caught it, honestly.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
What are your uh just uh, you know, he's a leader.
He has that kind of umph to him.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
He wants to win, he wants to get better, and
he's just out here competing just like everybody else.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
I felt great just being in a huddle with the
guys and just being back in the building, just going
through meetings in the weight room. Uh, you know, it's
great to be around them. They kind of get my
mind off things, uh and you know, just give me
focus on football. So y'all love being around I say,
I'm very comfortable just just looking back through it.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
You know, Josh and Bill Belichick yelled at me a
lot my my rookie year for the same playbook, so
I kind of got it drilled and drilled into me.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Just need to you know, uh, just go over a
little bit more communication conversations like.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna keep a dialogue to myself, but
it meant a lot. Uh, just the whole coaching staff
and being new and you know, just still having my back,
just checking in on me.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
You know, the running back coach even came to Vegas
for a little bit. Uh, So you know, all that
means a lot to me, to my family and you know, uh.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
I love it. Yeah, Tony came into Vegas. Yeah, relationship
from the draft. Yeah, I think he did interview me.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
Uh you know those guess you know, thirty teams an interviewing,
so it's kind of get uh you know, jumbled all together.
But yeah, I think I think I did meet him before.
Speaker 6 (17:22):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
Great guy, great coach.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
And you know he coached some good backs and I'm
ready to learn from him.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
Trying to add anything different to your defensive season.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Get ready for just get ready for another year. Uh
you know it's year five. I think I know what's
expected of me and what I need to do to
you know, uh be successful on the field. Uh, you know,
personally and just as a as a team to be
successful and get some get some wins at our belt.
So I think it's just honding down on everything I
know I need to do, the coaching SAF know I
needs to do, and you know, just being not perfect,
(17:54):
but you know, trying to be.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
Uh, today's emphasize running back position. What are you feelings
so more than your stuff?
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Yeah, I feel like Josh always loved a running back position.
He always tried to give us the bass. So uh,
you know, just you know another year. That just getting
the playbook, knowing exactly what we're doing on each each
each play, each formation, how to line up, and just
uh the details of each play.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
Keep your hell Josh?
Speaker 5 (18:24):
Is he still giving a hell out there?
Speaker 4 (18:26):
Like kind of back in different sea?
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Uh? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (18:31):
Uh, Well, I mean I'm the type of guy that
loves to be coached, So I'm never gonna get mad
at a coach getting on me or things like that.
But honestly, not yet he has a guy on me.
But I'm sure it's coming soon.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Uh. But you know, I'm trying to be.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Focusing, you know, just trying to be perfect out here
on the field, set a good example for everybody else
on the team.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Taps personal stuff sort of when you look back on education.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Uh biggest thing boss security. I feel like that's that's
the obvious answer to everybody here. But just getting some
wins under our belt. And you know, not shooting ourselves
in the foot and that and that is ball security.
So just trying to be good with the ball, one
hundred percent ball security. Uh yeah, So we get some
wins under our belt, let's uh well, I let them
(19:27):
do their joe. That's kind of out of my you know,
tax bracket. But just just uh just trusting what they
got going. Uh, you know, just trusting all my teammates,
no matter who's in here. Uh, you know, just trusting
that old line and just running behind.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Help. Some said again, which way wi Yeah?
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Uh, you know, it's just football and the NFL. I mean,
football is football, but the NFL is a little different.
So I think, uh, you know, just the experience of
me being here a little longer than him, I could
just give him tips and tricks of you know, things
that go on go on on the field, reading defenses,
things like that. Uh, he's he's a pretty smart player,
but I don't know how much of you know, defensive
reading and you know ID and defenses he did at
(20:15):
Ohio State. But I think he's doing a good job.
And uh, I think he's just watching film with each other.
We could all learn from each other, honestly, just all
the running backs in the room. So yeah, I'll look
forward to that. I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
Thank you guys.
