Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hi friends. I know, yeah, surprise.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
R thing's been so far.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
They know it's only a few weeks in, but obvious
the programming other.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Vibes, vibes, that's good. I mean, you know, back to work.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
I'm in very uh clear, strong message of what we
wanna do around here from details, fundamentals, techniques, excepted and
finish among with you know, doing the right thing on
and off the field. Those just come some of the
few uh team tenants uh that Braves preaches about. So
it's a good opportunity to be back, especially with the
you know, close group.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Of teammates that I gotta played with again really.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
Very well and cheat out some twenty team.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Well what was that experience like?
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Uh, I mean candidly, I mean it was different the
first time. Uh yeah, I mean I'm not spilling any
you know, I'm not speaking outside of the family here. I
mean very uh strong personality guys played before, a guy
who taught me a lot, and uh at first, it
was uh a tougher transition just because I, like any
good boss, like we're going to demand some things out
of you. And it was my first time kind of
(01:06):
being around a head coach in that style and by
the way, like please boss me, and don't take that
the wrong way. I mean, you should want like your
boss to demand a lot out of you. So it's
the first time like being with a defensive style coach
who demands it that way.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
So well, there was a little bit of a.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Transition process knowing from you know you most of the
time other guys that were for in the past of
the offensive guys generally the offensive guys to kind of
I guess type casts style as a coach. It's offensive
guys are typically more mellowed out defensive guys, right, you
got to bring the energy galvanize a group of men,
so there is more energy. So it's my first time
being in that experience. And like I said, at first,
(01:39):
there was a little bit of transition period just understanding
how you know your new boss once things done, but
once you understand how to operate. I mean, he taught
me a lot so and I kept those lessons with me.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
What's your level with Joshua being yours offense having cannons?
Speaker 5 (01:57):
Sure?
Speaker 1 (01:57):
I mean I haven't been in it before, you know, obviously,
it's it's been a couple of seasons now since I
was saying it.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
So, I mean, it's starting to come back to me.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
It's like, you know, if you've learned a little bit
of a new language when you were younger, all of
a sudden you take it in high school Spanish class,
all of a sudden like, oh okay, like it's coming
back to me, kind of saying idea.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
I suppose.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
So, I mean, second time going through it, you said,
just understanding where to line up and what to do,
you can actually kind of understand the details, more understand
the why and even you know. Phase one is just
knowing what you got to do. Phase two is knowing
what people around you were doing. So while I'm not
there yet, some stuff I'm getting there.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
After lasts, you still need a decision to.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Return, even some of the struggles that have it an office.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
What after an interrucision that are saying.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
I mean tremendous group of teammates. I mean playing with
a young talton guy like Drake. I'd be lying if
I say that wasn't a big part of the equation.
Also sharing a tight end room with Hunter Henry, I
mean guy who's you know, same draft classes me and
guy who have a very good working relationship together.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
So yeah, it was once the organization has sended me
the opportunity, it was, it was pretty simple.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
Makers coach were able for saying you mentioned some lessons
that he brought you back to twenty two.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Can you hear what, if any you learned.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
I mean, i'd say more mentality and style, Like I'm
not going to tell you anything that.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
A coach hasn't ever uttered before.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
But I mean it's just the mentality and the style
that which he demands from his employees, like any good boss,
like he's just gonna clearly define what his employees need
to do. And you want to come along this journey,
this is what's expected. So something not carried with me,
that's with Drake. What kind of growth have you seen
from him in achieved so far this auto? I mean
(03:49):
breaking news knowing I mean you're a top pick coming
this league, or drinking out of a fire hose, so
being able to see him, you know, not as like
eyes wide, you know, learning the business, learning new teammate,
it's learning a pro style system to banking all those reps,
like you could tell just walking around his shoulders a
little lower, you know what I mean, just more relaxed.
I mean, then we're gonna get a new crop of rookies.
(04:12):
They're gonna be all bright eyed and bushy tailed. And
you know, the cycle repeats itself as a.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
Current player, like how do you consume the NFL draft?
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Do you follow it? Do you watch it? I think, uh,
I think I watched the first round the nice adult gatorade,
and then after.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
That, you know, just whatever, I got other things to do.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
I'll find out. I'll see you in the locker room,
you know what I mean. First couple of years when
I was younger. I mean, it was definitely like a
bigger thing. You're at the same phase of life, but
you know you're a little bit older. It's just like, yeah,
it's like, well, we'll see in here. Buddy has a
few years.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
Ago that you work with him, you noticed, you know,
you guys changed all the time, right, we all do.
But any different about him from side of the organ.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
With Josh, I mean, he's still very smart. I mean,
same system. I mean, I think he's incorporated a couple
of things that you know, Drake is like not to
get too deep into.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
You know, scheme or.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Anything like that, but willingness to uh to hear what
the young gun has and you know, outside of that,
I'm gonna keep it inside the family.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
What's it like?
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Look on games.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Energy man, like you can see him like he's a freak.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
I mean, I know he just came off what he
came off of and uh you can see him already
with the the explosion, the change of direction, the top end,
and it's like, dang, dude, must be nice, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
So I'm really.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Excited to uh to work with a proven veteran, a
good player in this league.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Right, yeah, you reach your kid a wan? Uh?
Speaker 3 (06:04):
How or think so far into England, I'm doing well.
How about yourself? Good as a transition business telling mood here?
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Working here?
Speaker 5 (06:10):
Uh, It's been great to man, fantastic. I've been looking
forward to each day stepping in the building.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
What was it like you can.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Take us through kind of the free age of process.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Uh that that lets you to sign.
Speaker 5 (06:22):
Your Uh, it was a process for sure. Obviously. I
think it's a good thing when you obviously have teams
calling you and that's that's wanting your talent and they
feel like you can help help progress the team, you know,
toops to go to a championship, leading weight. So I
was so thankful obviously that the Patriots got a chance
to reach out to me, and we get a chance
to talk with the legacy, and that the franchise has
(06:44):
built to be a part of something like this and
the culture that we s steady established and we breed
and and kind of live around here. It's something that
I I embody and I'm excited to be a part of,
and I'm willing to take in every every nugget and
every detail it takes to get to the next level,
for sure.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
So your body that what about you and fans?
Speaker 3 (07:05):
You know, was a person to play with people, right, pa.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
Uh, It's a journey. It's a journey. It's a process,
something that you have to fully, truly commit to. Can't
conch uh commit to an outcome. Thankfully a lot of
the outcomes here came out in our way, uh for sure.
But it's something that you have to truly embody it
and kind of d dig into. So Veryboe does a
nice job and telling us that, and we're working with
the process and the details to make sure we focus
every day on one day at a time, just trying
(07:31):
to win that day. You know what, I'm saying before
it started digging into even just the season right now
or any opponents get the minor details. You know what
I'm saying, fix the root of any problem. That we
have creative foundation and going forward. Man, there's create our
identity and we live by it and not stually takeing us
to great places, finish.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Truly strong class.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
When it was five sacks in the last.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
Six years, woo, what would you say clicking that?
Speaker 3 (07:50):
Teach ah Man?
Speaker 5 (07:53):
Just getting the opportunity to to produce and play, I
think that was just kind of the biggest thing I was.
I was excited about looking forward to being in that position.
So thankfully, when you have that and being a part
of a prestigious league as the NFL man, you gotta
be able to show out and take advantage of those
opportunities regardless of how the season going. So I I
knew that, uh going to each chance I got, each
(08:14):
opportunity I got, Uh, I don't take it for granted.
So I'm super thankful that I got a chance to
show that out in Vegas and now we're in the
perfect spy here in New England and creating.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
Momental theater or anything like.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Yeah, I guess exiting the season on such.
Speaker 5 (08:25):
A height up I do think, I I I it's
a great confidence establishment for sure, to know obviously that
you're able to contribute to this league and be able
to perform at a high level. Just how y I
originally thought I was able to to to be able
to contribute to this NFL league when I joined. So
it's definitely it's a great it's a great chance to
be a part of and it's something that I I
(08:46):
definitely do not take for granted anything.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Technically.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
Did the change for you when you played a lot
in Jacksonville to double your career total taxes is great?
Speaker 2 (08:54):
You know?
Speaker 4 (08:55):
Or anything about your approach that maybe drove that production?
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Ah ah, that's a great question.
Speaker 5 (09:01):
I feel like the kind of the approach is obviously
gradually progressed and kind of matured as the time going.
You get a chance to be and see different things
and be a part of different teams and culture. So man,
I just kind of take every nugget that I got
each year and kind of just put it into my
games year. So just once again just getting a chance
to have that opportunity to perform and kind of put
(09:22):
those all together and be able to to show it
helped the tremendously, and I mean that's not let's not
forget the just the tremendous talent that Max Crosby is
on the other side as well, that kind of helped.
So I think I think that is that was a
tremendous boost and kind of be able to get that
nugget from him a per a premier pass rusher in
the league and now man being the chance to get
(09:44):
you had to to Russell Harald who's who's had multiple
double digit SAX seasons in the NFL, Which that's not
something that's easy or you take for granted here. So
I'm taking nuggets from everybody and I'm trying to establish
them all into my game and be dominants possible.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Now, how would you.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
Like define your like or how would you just like
what Hans can extat from this season? Uh, just relentless man.
That's the ultimate.
Speaker 5 (10:07):
That's the ultimate identity that I feel like I wanna
portray and the Patriots want to portray relentless man, non
stop fourth quarters.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
If it takes a fifth quarter, we take it there.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
But it's something that I embody it just be able
to go every chance I get and just be able
to go non stop and as a pass rusher, you
have a understanding that as much as you don't wanna settle,
it takes one out of sixty plays to be a
dominant pass rusher in this league. And you get that
going for seventeen games. Man, that's a that's a good
setting that your team would be in.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
For sure.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
We've heard a lot of uh good things about but
Frayble and Coach Williams to defensive line play from some
of your teammates, is there already a a nugget or
a tip something that one of them have shared with
you that's kind of stuck or you might have learned.
Speaker 5 (10:53):
So far in American Yeah, so definitely obviously very well
been able to will play in the same position he's
be He's done this in the lead, played obviously here
and and and done some great things in the in
the league. So we get a chance to talk every
chance we get, whether it's him jumping into drills, coming
in the meeting rooms, catching each other in the hallway,
it's it's a tremendous honor to be able to play
(11:14):
with him.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
Obviously, he's he's.
Speaker 5 (11:15):
Played with some some some great guys itself that he
he was able to take niggas from as well.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
So we was even today we was watching.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
Film I think obviously towards the back end of his
career in Kansas City, and we got a chance to
watch him, and we was we was watching obviously Tomba
Lee some of his technique. Then we got a chance
to see him on the other side, So being able
to just talking about just certain pass for his techniques
and kind of just the identity that goes with each
one and just the progression of each move, whether you
want to start off with a long arm, then we
(11:43):
go into all right, stab chot, then after the stab chop,
all right, now we might got ghosts. All right, now
we have those all kind of following play, you get
all the lineman thinking those three within these least like
the first half of the game. Now he got something
to worry about throughout the four quarter. So man, it's
super grateful to be able to obviously have him and
coach WILLI it's been super helpful yourself as well.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
Who's that something uh I've heardly got talked about the
kind of layering.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Your your foods you talking about?
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Is that that was kind of the focus today.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
Uh we we we we.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
We definitely went over it today for sure, just like
I said, just being able to hear it from somebody
who's who's done it, who's it's obviously you have a
tremnious respect for all coaches across the league, you know
what I'm saying, getting a chance to to display you
know what I'm saying, a lot of coaching skills to
be able to be dominant. But it hits a little
bit different, obviously with somebody who has done it, who
(12:30):
has been a part of the league and has some
some some success in this league, winning super bowls, in championships. So,
like I said, we definitely got a chance to talk
about it and go over and it was super helpful
for sure.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
How closely have you followed LSU football and were serious?
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Did you get a chance to watch fellow Tigers Bread
and swim Center both ample?
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Nah?
Speaker 5 (12:51):
I definitely, I definitely I got a chance to see those.
I was super excited that we got more Balue Bengals
in the building. I think the more we have on
the team, the better chance we have against opponents, so
super able to get a chance to have will come
in and swins come in super familiar with them, get
a chance to also obviously I get a chance to
watch games and just you know, you know a lot
of the guys across the building, across the just the
Tiger family. So the more we get in, I feel like,
(13:13):
the better we are. So I'm super thankful for good shit, Urbal.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
I's try that. You what, you've a grebel and drills
and all that twos, right, and so we know he's
been prone to throw on a pad and get involved.
Speaker 5 (13:25):
In drills you've done out Yeah, no, definitely, yeah, yeah,
he'll definitely put his big body to use for sure,
and kind of make sure we stay in stern and
we kind of physical and we just.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Just being just some big physical postures.
Speaker 5 (13:34):
And obviously it's something that I enjoy obviously, somebody who
gets a chance and make sure that he's still involved
and kind of keep his youth going. And I say,
it just brings a bit excitement, you know, just a
quick note. Uh, this is obviously, I feel like we
all kind of have like you know, I wouldn't be
and verbe haven't. We haven't been in a situation, but
we all kind of have times where it's like either
(13:54):
our upper authority. You know what I'm saying, We kind
of just have some disagreements. So when you get a
chance to put your hands on him as import of client,
you kind of wanna take advantage of it. So when
I catch very well, when I get a chance to,
I kind of wanna get a good strike in.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Just how how important is that to have a coach
who's feeling to do out do you this.
Speaker 5 (14:11):
There's probably a lot of coaches in the NFL who
are not throwing out a pot and getting out there
with you guys for every profits.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
Just what's not like have s a coach WHI you
do Alright, It's it's super important.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
It's super beneficial for sure, speaking from a personal in uh,
when you get a chance to obviously, coaches get a
chance to coach things that they see on film and
to each each coach, to each coach health or however
it may be, a lot of coaches can't perform some
of the things that they get asked us to do
on the film or whatever it may be. So obviously
coaches get to get explain things and then hey, if
(14:43):
if it doesn't sound too comfortable or too too familiar
with you. Uh, we can just kind of go through
it and walk through it and I can kind of
show you, you know what I'm saying, how I feel it.
I mean, shoot, everybody different body type too, So we
can just walk through it and kind of see how
it plays out to how itever feels most comfortable to
succeed with the team, for sure.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
They Lumba.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
You mentioned Harrold, Did you guys have.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
A relationship with all uh you know, yeah in vision
and same division.
Speaker 5 (15:10):
Yeah no, uh nah, just me and Harrold's first time
getting close in content. But obviously we know familiar people.
He got a chance to be with a couple of
people that was from Jacksonville that ended up going there
in Tennessee and playing with each other. So but I mean,
obviously we clicked from day one and just kind of
being and great and great buddies and trying to figure
out what way it is the best way for our
group to.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Be the most dominant group on the field. For sure.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Okay, thanks the time, great mensions.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Nah, I appreciate y'all, Thank y'all.
Speaker 5 (15:36):
Thank you. Interesting
