Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, Travia, Welcome to New England. My name is Andrew
worked for the Boston Herald. First of all, how you feeling, man.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
I'm feeling. I'm feeling amazing, man, I'm feeling I'm excited. Good.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
Can you take us through from when your college season ends,
obviously with the championship, all the way through tonight the
times he's spoken with the.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Patriots met with them.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Where were you?
Speaker 2 (00:20):
What did you talk about? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (00:24):
I think only did one zoom meeting with the running
backs coach, and so other than that, you know, honestly,
you know, I have I had no clue that, you know,
New England was going to be the spot, and so
it was definitely it was definitely a surprise for me.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
You're gonna your head coach is Mike Rabel, who's in
Ohio state along then must excite you a little bit.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Oh yeah, most definitely, you know, I know, I think
I'll watch the video. You know, he's trying to rebuild
the culture there, and so man, I'm excited. You know,
I'm excited to be a part know what what he's
what he's looking to accomplish, Travion.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
For those who don't know you, how would you describe
your game.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
I say, I'm fast, I'm explosive.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
You know, I'm good and one on one matchups, you know,
my receiving, the ability, my blocking. You know, I'm pretty
I pretty much can do it all him.
Speaker 5 (01:25):
I'm Sophie. But I'm just curious, what are you familiar
with Trait May and all his style of play, and
just what's your level of excitement to kind of get
in here and play with him as your cornerback.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Yeah, I'm familiar with I'm great, great player.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
You know, I'm excited, you know, to play alongside of him,
and yeah, you know, I just I can't I can't
wait to get started, you know, to get there and
get started to get to work with him.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Travon, how did your experience the last four years at
Ohio State prepare you for this opportunity?
Speaker 3 (01:56):
You've had some ups and downs, but how did that
experience prepare you to play the NFL?
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Yeah, you know, man, I'm thankful.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
You know I heard a lot, you know, from the
players in the past, you know who played in the past,
you know who played their NFL careers. How they said
Ohio State did a good job of preparing him for
what's next and so you know, all the meeting is
pretty much this whole draft process.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
I can say, you know, Ohio State prepared me for that.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
And you know, I'm believing, you know, what they put
us through will prepare me, you know, have prepared me
for you know, when I take those steps, you know
and get there.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
You know, the New England and so.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Trivia and how familiar are you with Josh McDaniels and
how he used it running backs within his offense.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Yeah, I'm not too familiar with it, but I'm looking.
I'm excited, you know, to to learn, you know, to
get coach Bob and so yeah, you know, I'm I'm
I'm excited, you know, I'm just excited to learn.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
And grow trivia.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
And one of the big things we've seen go through
notes is ball security and how well do you took
care of the ball to how state? How important is
that for you as a player.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Very important, you know, one of the that's something we
did almost every week at Ohio State, and I know
we put the ball on the ground. You know, it's
the high possibility you're coming out and you're probably not
playing a game. And so that encouraged me a lot.
You know, to hold on to the ball because it
can cause the team, especially in those big matchup games,
and so you know, that's something that I'm looking forward
to carrying on to the next level as well, just
(03:25):
holding on to the ball.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
I also want to know about how good is your
trophy security because you showed that at the White House
with the fumbled JD vance. Is that something you can
promise to Patriots fans?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Uh, you know, I can't.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
I can't make a promise, but yeah, I'll just say,
you know, I'm gonna give it everything that I got
to hold on to that ball.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Just going back for a second, so you said you
have the zoom call with coach. Do's nothing that's combined,
no prod if you if you ever talk with coach Ramil, No,
I don't.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
I don't recall having a meeting with them. Yeah, you know,
there was honestly a surprise. It is a surprise for sure, Turevian.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
How much do you know about the running backs on
the Patriot's roster, Ramandra Stevenson and Antonio Gibson And what
are your thoughts about joining that room.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Yeah, you know, I'm excited to really learn from those guys.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
Man, I'm excited to be part of that room, and yeah,
looking to build and grow with those guys.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
You know, I'm looking forward to that.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Trevian Generally running backs some bit of a transition or
a struggle to pick up pass protection schemes, blitzes.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
You seem to be really good at it.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
How did you get to be just good at it
at this.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Stage your career? Yeah, getting developed at Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
You know, the coach is there, and I'm just competing
against some of the best players every day in practice.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
You know, help helped me out a lot.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
And so that's something I continue to look, you know,
to work at and bring on to the leaders. You know,
I know that's very important, you know, as a running back,
and so that's something that I got to definitely continue
to work at and making sure I'm staying on top
of tan with.
Speaker 6 (04:57):
The zoom Meaning when was that and what else do
you remember about that?
Speaker 2 (05:03):
I don't remember when it was.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
It was more so I believe it's like early on,
you know, after the after the combine, I believe, and so,
you know, it's more so just getting to know your background,
seeing how well do you know ball? How fast can
you pick up the system, and I believe I did
a pretty good job. You know, I don't if I
if I did a bad job, I don't know if
they would have picked me. So yeah, I think I
(05:25):
did a good job.
Speaker 6 (05:27):
Can you see this through just the whole moment.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
Who was with you and you got the call, and
just what your reaction was like when you saw the
number come across your screen.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Yeah, I was with my mom and dad, my grandma,
both of my grandmothers, and my brother on.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
The couch, and yeah, when I got that call, it
was It's crazy. I didn't I didn't even.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Know who had to who had to pick at the
time as well, because I forgot what was on the
TV at the time. And so when I was getting
a call, you know, I was I was shocked. I
was definitely shocked. Yeah, it decided. You know, I prayed
on this. You know, there's been a lot of sacrifices,
you know, a lot of hard work, and so you know,
I'm just thankful that God has putting me in this
position and that he's leading me to New England.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
You know, I know it's for a great reason. And so.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Did did to Raybell have a message for you?
Speaker 2 (06:18):
When when you wore picked.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Yeah, honestly, I'm not gonna lie of y'all. The moment
went by so fast. I barely remember too much. I
was so I was so excited. It was going by
so fast. Yeah, there was just so much emotions I
barely remember.
Speaker 6 (06:39):
We're gonna finish up with two final questions from online here,
so we're going to start with Taylor Kyles Travion.
Speaker 7 (06:45):
Thank you for your time. Man, Welcome to Newlyntngrats on
getting drafted. I read in the scouting report that said
that you're motivated by your mother, So I'm curious. Could
you tell us a little bit about that relationship and
why she inspires you so much.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
Yeah, she she inspires me a lot, and definitely definitely
when I was younger, you know, seeing all the sacrifices,
everything that she had to sacrifice to help her out
from me and my other two brothers. You know, she
she worked really hard, and you know, when Tom's got tough,
you know, she she didn't give up, you know, and
so that was more so my encouragement. You know, when
(07:18):
I first got to Ohio State, when Tom got tough,
you know, just seeing everything that she went through and
her not giving up and encouraged me, you know.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
When Tom got tough to not give up. And so yeah,
I'm thankful, thank you. Sorry.
Speaker 6 (07:32):
The final question from Chris Bryan.
Speaker 8 (07:35):
Hey, congrats, welcome to h to New England. Just what
excites you the most about this particular opportunity and what
kind of your initial thoughts on what this team is
and what you can bring.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah, what excites me the most, you know, is just
being part of the culture. You know, I'm just excited
to learn about the culture, to learn about what they're
trying to do there, and I believe, you know, they're
trying to you know, they're trying to compete for Super
Bowl and so you know, I'm just excited to come there,
(08:08):
and I know God is leading me there for a reason,
and so you know, I'm just walking by faith, and
you know, I don't I don't understand it all now,
but you know eventually I will, you know, eventually I will.
So yeah, I'm just I'm honestly just excited, you know.
Speaker 8 (08:23):
And how do you feel that you're run with Ohio
State kind of prepared you for a playoff type football,
the type of you know environment this team is looking
to you have to get to where you guys faced
a lot of diversity this year, particularly after the Michigan game.
What did you learn about, you know, what it takes
to win in those types of situations.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Yeah, you know, I think the biggest thing is just.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
You know, at Ohio State we talked about the brotherhood,
and last year the brotherhood was really special. You know,
when times got tough, you know, we stayed together. And
I believe a big part of that is because of
our faith in Jesus and so, you know, I'm just.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
That's that's the most important thing. You know. It's just
you know, we have to be willing.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
To love each other, to fight for each other, to
be all you know, brought in and have the same
goal in mind. And yeah, you know, I'm just decided
however I can be part of that. You know, however
I can learn, however I can grow, you know, That's
what I'm That's what I'm willing to do. You know,
they're willing to help the team however. You know however,
I can so thank you, yep, thank.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
You, thank you very much for your time. And congratulations.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
All right, thank you so much. Appreciate you'll congratulations. Appreciate it.
