Speaker 1 (00:02):
Your mindset and trying to establish yourself.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Learn and world.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
Yeah, my mind say is just every day before I
come in, you know, I ask the Lord to help
me to work as hardly as for him and uh
not to please man. You know, he's the one that's
giving me the gifts and abilities to play this game.
And so you know when I come out here, I'm
just trying to give it everything that I got, you know,
to honor God and bring him glory.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
Kind of went up for it from Drake sort of
take us through that play.

Speaker 5 (00:34):
Uh Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Coach McDaniels has been doing a good job of giving
all of us opportunities to get out in the space,
especially running backs, and so I'm definitely been trying to
grow and get better at that.

Speaker 5 (00:47):
And so it was a nice path from Jake. Uh
nice to come down with it. A good play.

Speaker 6 (00:52):
So y'all you guys pretty words sac.

Speaker 5 (00:53):
Autority for a running back.

Speaker 6 (00:54):
Do you have a baseball.

Speaker 5 (00:55):
Background or what would you do that? No baseball background? Nah,
I can't I can't swing, I can't hit that. Trying
to help you to.

Speaker 7 (01:08):
Your to you and.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Yeah, Remandre has been a huge help Antonio to rear
all those guys all the vests in the room has
been a huge help.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
And so I'm thankful, you know, to be here the Patriots.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
I'm thankful to be in the running back room and
play alongside of those guys and come to work each
and every day with those guys.

Speaker 5 (01:28):
Uh, shoot, you know, I'm excited.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
The biggest thing, I'm just trying to take it one
day at a time. You know, I know this is
a long season. It's a lot of work we put
in each and every day, and so, uh, the biggest thing, man,
is just one one day at a time.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
And so.

Speaker 8 (01:44):
How do you feel like that's.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
How do you think?

Speaker 3 (01:47):
That's Yeah, you know, it's definitely it's definitely a grind.
It's definitely something you gotta continue to work at. And
so that just helps me out a lot, you know,
stay in detailed, making sure I'm coming to practice every
day and try to work and get better at pass protection.
And so coach Juice has been doing a great job
of coming up with drills to help us, you know,
to make sure it translate to the game. And so, yeah,

(02:10):
you know, that's something I definitely got to continue to
work on to get better.

Speaker 9 (02:12):
At a lot of people a harder offense too. I'm
just curious kind of your taking it and also just
how it's been working the famager.

Speaker 5 (02:24):
Yeah, he's definitely very detailed, you know when it comes
to the offense.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
But I think they do a good job of just
you know, helping us get adapted, you know, to the offense,
teaching us the place, making sure we know our responsibility,
doing walk news and things like that, to make sure
we when we come out here at practice, making sure
he's efficient and we know what we're doing.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
So they do a good job of helping us out
with the place.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
On the daily basis.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Yeah, you know, you know, I'm definitely getting more comfortable
just playing in the NFL in general.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
You know, it's definitely, it's definitely you know, it takes
time to get adjusted to it.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
And so I feel like, you know, the Patriots with
the way today organize practice, the way do they help
us push us outside of our comfort zone. I feel
like they've been doing a good job of helping me
step outside of my comfort zone and pushing me to
get better.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
Getting ready for your first practice applied to shoot.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Like I said, one one day at a time. You know,
if I if I look too far ahead. I feel like, uh,
that's when you that's when you start to get anxious.
That's when you start to worry and all of that stuff.
And like the Lord tells me, you know, he says,
tomorrow got his own problems, you know. Uh, So you know,
I just try to focus on the day and just
taking one day at a time with him.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
What are the moments, moments or things you've done that
have given you the most confidence of two weeks.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
I think just being coachable, listening to the coaches, making
sure I'm taking notes, making sure I'm locked in in
the meetings and the walkthroughs, making sure I'm coming out
here a practice and just try to give it my best.
And so I think just doing the little things. You know,
when you when you start to do the little things right,
then when the big things come, you know, all the
little things out up to help you do the big thing.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
So we've heard from other rookies talk about watching old Patriots,
watching Danny mcdull, any old backs, that you like watching
their film in particular.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Yeah, I just like watching a lot of running backs
in general. I think, you know, there was a lot
of great running backs just in the past and all
the time there's great running backs that come through, and
so you know, I'm always trying to grow in every
aspect of my game, and so I just try to
watch every back you know, and every skill type and
just try to get better.

Speaker 5 (04:26):
Appreciate y'all, Thank you.

Speaker 8 (04:36):
Again.

Speaker 10 (04:40):
They're doing good. They're doing a great job.

Speaker 11 (04:43):
At feel like you've been able to connect with guys like.

Speaker 10 (04:47):
It's been great.

Speaker 11 (04:48):
Uh.

Speaker 12 (04:49):
You know, Trayon's in my room, so it's kind of
easy for us to get get together and just talk
a lot.

Speaker 10 (04:52):
So it's been great.

Speaker 11 (04:54):
Uh.

Speaker 12 (04:54):
He's been asking questions, learning the offense, and you know,
I'm excited for him.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
What have you thought about you should.

Speaker 6 (05:02):
Where do you feel a.

Speaker 10 (05:04):
Lot of work to do, a lot of work to do.

Speaker 12 (05:06):
I'll say we're progressing though, uh, and you know that's
all we can ask for this time of the year.
Just get better progress and you know, just keep keep
our foot on the gas and try to get better.

Speaker 13 (05:17):
So far.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
What do you what do you like about the person
brings the field?

Speaker 7 (05:20):
What do you like about it?

Speaker 12 (05:22):
Yeah, good dude. Uh, you know he's a competitor. Uh,
he's a great dude off the field. Just any type
of conversations.

Speaker 6 (05:29):
Uh.

Speaker 12 (05:30):
You know, he's a holy guy. You could talk to
him about his faith and things like that. So great player.
Uh and yeah, what do you think as a matchup
against Yeah, they they better be able to move because
he fast.

Speaker 8 (05:43):
So yeah, talk to us a little bit about what
are the conversations he's.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (05:52):
Uh, you kind of said that new year. Uh kind
of like a clean slate. But you know it's my
it's my job to you know, keep the ball and
secure the all. Uh we know how that went last year.
Trying to put that behind me, but you know, just
keep just making a conscious effort just keep the ball
in my hands.

Speaker 13 (06:08):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
What's the balancing acting? You you're a tackle breaker?

Speaker 11 (06:12):
Yeah, so like you get contact, you want to keep
doing what's the balancing act?

Speaker 2 (06:16):
How hear those tackles and sort of knowing when the
protecting the ball?

Speaker 12 (06:19):
Uh, well that's out of premium right now, just ball security.
So uh yeah, I'm still gonna try to make my
mood stay the same back I am, but you know,
at a premium and bas security right now, I really
don't know.

Speaker 10 (06:33):
I don't know, I don't know. I think it's a
physical thing.

Speaker 12 (06:36):
It's just holding the ball. So I think I could,
you know, just make a conscious effort and I'll say
it's physical.

Speaker 7 (06:44):
Night.

Speaker 8 (06:45):
Uh I can't do that.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
I can't do that.

Speaker 10 (06:49):
Uh you know, a mistake happened. You know, it's training camp.

Speaker 12 (06:52):
Uh, So hopefully I could just get that out the
way right now, you know, going to the season clean.
I mean it's kind of it's kind of obvious. You know,
I'm a running back. I have to carry the ball
and keep it up. So whether he said something to
me or not, I know, I did you know the
team of Injustice by doing that, So I got to
be better personally and for this team.

Speaker 13 (07:13):
I can't ask you about me talk about listening to funds,
wanting to be faster.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Did you feel that at this point?

Speaker 14 (07:20):
Uh?

Speaker 10 (07:20):
Yeah, I feel I feel I feel, I feel explosive.

Speaker 8 (07:22):
I'll say that.

Speaker 12 (07:24):
You know, hopefully the GPS could could show that could
show I'm moving faster for a longer amount of time.
But yeah, I'm feeling better.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
I talked about what are some of the things that
you're more focused up now?

Speaker 2 (07:36):
We talked about all security, Boss, what's your focused camp.

Speaker 12 (07:40):
Who's going to be ball security. I'll say that just
ball security, just coming up with ball every time. Uh,
I'm I'm very confident what I could do with the
ball of my hands when I have it and when
I could secure it. So uh, I think just holding
on to the ball everything else to come with it.
I'm very confident what I could do with the ball
of my hands.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
How smarter are you now that's been in the league
and knowing some.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Things, but what you need to do?

Speaker 12 (08:03):
I say, you know, it's still you could always grow.
But yeah, I think I've seen a lot of football.
I know we're trying to get done offensively with you know,
Josh McDaniels back in here. So I think I'm pretty smart, uh,
you know, football wise, but you can always learn. And
you know, I go in there in the meetings every
every day just wanting to learn.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
So, yeah, you talking about your execution, but just in
terms of being able to understand the play for taking
the execution out of it.

Speaker 11 (08:25):
What do you feel like you mentioned, Josh, where do
you feel like guys are learning?

Speaker 12 (08:29):
Josh mccannst Well, I'm not gonna speak for anybody else,
but on the field, when I look at it on film,
I mean, it looks like we're making you know progress.

Speaker 10 (08:36):
Uh, you know, everybody's learning is a little bit different.
But when I turn on the film, it looks like
everybody's progressive.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
You know.

Speaker 12 (08:41):
Still you know, a bunch of mistakes. Training camp is
going to be that, but progression, I would.

Speaker 10 (08:45):
Say, the guys come to you and ask your questions, right, they.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Kind of do. Yeah.

Speaker 10 (08:50):
I love to help the backs out.

Speaker 12 (08:52):
I think I said said this the first time I
did media this year. Josh and Bill was on me
my first year about this about this playbook. So I
think it's drilled into me so I could pass it
forward and you know, teach it a little bit.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
But that said, do you feel for Trevion in this situation?
Is rookie coming in the same kind of thing?

Speaker 12 (09:08):
Yeah, it's it's a learning curve for sure, But it's
not impossible to do, you know, just just looking at
the just looking at the U, just looking at the
playbook nightly and just being on your stuff, you'll.

Speaker 7 (09:18):
Be all right.

Speaker 13 (09:18):
I think of skills running because police position a little differently.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Yeah, do you guys all have kind of you need?

Speaker 8 (09:29):
Sure you can't overlap and everybody does everything?

Speaker 10 (09:32):
Yeah, I think we all do everything. I think we're all,
you know, every down backs.

Speaker 12 (09:35):
Uh, you know, that's what I say.

Speaker 10 (09:37):
Let them speak for theirselves.

Speaker 12 (09:38):
But you know, I'm confident in the whole room, and
I think we all we all bring something different to
the table obviously, so I think we all kind of
pick certain things from each other, and I think that's
great for everybody in the room.

Speaker 5 (09:48):
Season, I think, uh.

Speaker 6 (09:52):
Exactly.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
So, yeah, I feel I feel like we're pretty diverse
back there. That touchdown break, it was kind of reminiscent
in the Tennessee last year.

Speaker 12 (10:01):
Just yeah, I had a slam block on that, so
I was just trying to secure the edge, but you
had the play kind of broke down and got.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Out and I think my feet was in.

Speaker 5 (10:10):
I think I got it in.

Speaker 10 (10:11):
Yeah, So just trying to, you know, make a play
for the team.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Anticipation start last couple of years. Anticipation.

Speaker 10 (10:21):
I'm very excited. Yeah, I'm very excited. Uh, you know,
just a new slate.

Speaker 12 (10:25):
I feel like, uh, you know, some things happening and
you know in my life, you feel me on the
on the field and off the field. I just feel
like it's my time to go, and I'm you know,
I'm ready for this season. I appreciate it, y'all for
you all right, who's starting?

Speaker 8 (10:38):
You got it?

Speaker 6 (10:38):
Let's I'm curious about the outfit yourself.

Speaker 7 (10:42):
Yeah, this is all it's a long grown right here.
Actually started like six years ago. I guess it would
be seven years ago.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
I was in Miami. It's all functional.

Speaker 7 (10:50):
The bottom of the of the slits stay drier in
the top, so at a receiver position, South Florida gets
a little human so I was able to draw my
gloves off, and then it's kind of just been my
training camp swag ever since.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Yeah, with a lot of.

Speaker 10 (11:03):
Great quarterbacks in your career, Joe, what kind.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Of similarities to see Drake.

Speaker 7 (11:08):
I'm just happy to be here with Drake. I think
that's the the game is. Hey, can we compare guys?
But just like I hate being compared. I shoot, every
guy's their own guy, like you work too hard to
compare to other players.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
So it's exciting to be able to play with Drake.

Speaker 7 (11:20):
But also I went to school with his older brother Luke,
so shoot, I guess it's a little family rien. Yeah,
I mean, I trained my whole life to play football,
not to not to watch it. So to be back
out with the guys, it's just a different energy. Even
though I'm two feet difference from outside the line to
inside the line, it's a whole.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Different perspective, So never take it for granted.

Speaker 11 (11:40):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Really excited to be back out there and continue to
grow with the guys.

Speaker 14 (11:44):
I'm curious, look like you were taking a lot of
mental reps while you were out. You were always kind
of out here with the team, standing with the receivers.
Just what goes inside?

Speaker 6 (11:52):
Why was that so important during that time?

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Absolutely?

Speaker 7 (11:55):
When I was a young player, coach told me the
brain doesn't no difference between a mental rep and a
physical rep. So just being able to keep my mind focused.
It's easy to wander and get caught up in the
conversations in the back. But if I wanted to be
ready for this day, then I had to be ready
all the other days. Because this is the National Football League.
Nobody cares that you're out for a month or two months,

(12:16):
or however long a day an hour. They expect you
to be on the same page as everybody else that
was out practicing when you come back.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
So that was my intentions.

Speaker 7 (12:23):
Hey, let me make sure I'm locked in, because when
I come back, the expectation is that I.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Was here the whole time. What else did you do?

Speaker 5 (12:35):
Information?

Speaker 7 (12:35):
I think just extra extra meeting with guys, but then
also kind of stealing reps from other guys, like hey,
do you want to study together? Uh, you know, being
able to if I can go over the plays again
and again read the plays to guys like, hey, I'll
be the quarterback so you can get better.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Yeah, you're getting better.

Speaker 7 (12:49):
But also I'm kind of stealing a couple reps for
me to get better too, anything like that, you know,
talking to TD, talking to Josh, you know, being able
to hey when you do that when he's running this route.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
Why is this?

Speaker 7 (12:59):
Because because I had more time my body, I didn't
have to do all the stuff that the guys had
to do right after practice. So let me steal that
time and go meet with those guys and kind of
see from their perspective what the offense looks like.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Yeah, all of them. Any young guy that wanted to work.

Speaker 7 (13:14):
I say, I'm in the receiver room, let's get it right,
And they would come in and I'd go through the
script multiple times.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
Why not, I'm getting free lunch you've taken? How much
better a player are you like. Over time, I guess
we're gonna see.

Speaker 11 (13:29):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
I hope I'm ten times better, but we'll see. You know,
I think you just can't a lot. You know, you're
the better, You're worse every day.

Speaker 11 (13:38):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
My goal was to get better every day.

Speaker 7 (13:41):
So hopefully it translates to the field and as we
compete and as you know, the commanders come in and
we go travel and all these different things start happening
the season begins. I hope that my you know, my
skill and knowledge of this offense continues to grow as
as the season goes.

Speaker 5 (13:55):
How familiar I think we.

Speaker 7 (13:56):
Asked you about Josh Matato's gonna sign in your relationship
and now being back out.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
How familiar do things feel for you? Yeah, it's good.
I think you got to knock some rust off and stuff.

Speaker 7 (14:06):
And obviously things aren't exactly the same as they were
when we were in Vegas together, but similar offense and
I'm able to Hey, I remember when Josh mentioned this
and how to run this route, and now he's fine
tuned even more now, So okay, yeah, I have a
little little foundation, but now let me really get into
the building of what this route is supposed to be.
Or this concept is supposed to be. So it is
good that I have a little background, but you know,
I gotta still be sharp on everything.

Speaker 5 (14:30):
Since you got.

Speaker 7 (14:34):
I think it goes back to taking those mental reps
and knowing, hey, how can I impact this team the
best way x Z F Y, whatever it is that
the coach wants me to do. If that gives me
an opportunity to be on the field, I feel like, hey,
when I'm on the field, I can make plays.

Speaker 8 (14:47):
Cool.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
How can I get on the field know every position?

Speaker 4 (14:53):
I watched a lot, obviously, absolutely watching anyone stood out.

Speaker 7 (15:04):
Anyone surprised, I wouldn't say surprised by anybody. Our expectation
when we came in was to work and to shine.
I think that's what this entire group has done. I
think more than any any time else in my career,
the entire group has had a good camp of competing,
making sure they know what to do, making plays when
it comes their way, Versus a lot of times in

(15:24):
my career. You got, you know three guys that are like, oh,
there's the guys, and everybody else is like they're kind
of bodies along the way. That's not the thing here
everybody's it's like, oh, everybody better come prepared every single
morning because you can get your job taken from.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
The touchdown passes or the obvious, what are things you
see from Drake Han't worked with a lot of quarterbacks
that encourage you about him making progress that otherwise might.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Be not as obvious.

Speaker 7 (15:47):
He's a competitor, whether we're playing chess in the locker
room or basketball locker room or he's out here. Uh,
the guy wants to compete, and that's all I care about.
That's why I played a game to compete. You take
away the competition, it's not really a game anymore. It's
just kind of bodies out on the field. So he's
gonna compete, and I love that about him. Uh, it's
all relative. Thanks, you all appreciate it.

Speaker 6 (16:09):
So yeah, you know, Pads just trying to for especially.

Speaker 11 (16:23):
He's going all right. You know, I feel like if
I'm at the peak right now, then I'm gonna have
a terrible season. So I always need to get better
every day. So just continuously trying to get better every
day and just doing my job.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Yeah, it's hard.

Speaker 8 (16:46):
Hands.

Speaker 11 (16:47):
Uh, he's coaching just outside linebacker specific stuff with me,
so like working better hands, better run techniques, things like that.
He's a very hands on coach in general. I kind
of respect that much different. I gotta see a little
bit more so I'm a little bit more attacking when

(17:09):
my hand is down.

Speaker 8 (17:13):
Nothing completely different.

Speaker 11 (17:14):
My get off is a little bit slower just because
I'm just trying to look at things developing. Uh. But
when I'm handing the ground, I more so it's just like,
go get the ball, Go get drake public it looks.

Speaker 10 (17:24):
Like Williams practice how much of scious.

Speaker 6 (17:27):
Situations that you guys?

Speaker 11 (17:31):
I don't really know too much about it. For for
I don't really ask you any questions. I focused on
football when I'm out there, I asked him pretty pretty cool.
So a lot of my guys are over there, a
lot of my bets. So why is Jay Jones h
Carl Because just that's gonna be my camp fight right there?

Speaker 8 (17:51):
I got something for them other than that, I don't
really can.

Speaker 7 (17:58):
And will camp with this go back and throughout the
summer just about will you know.

Speaker 8 (18:05):
What the biggest thing for for will.

Speaker 11 (18:12):
Is his willingness to learn and his ability to sometimes
get beat but then not hold your hand down.

Speaker 8 (18:18):
A lot of times when you come in as a rookie,
you're gonna lose reps.

Speaker 11 (18:22):
And everybody loses reps sometimes, but guys come in five stars,
all American things like that, thinking that the best in
the world, and when they face ad vergensity sometimes they
shut down. And that's something that Will doesn't do. He
asks the questions. He says, Okay, how how can I
not lose this rep? And he learns and he and
he and he comes back better. And that's the best
thing that you could do as a rookie because it's

(18:43):
gonna be learning curves, it's gonna be challenges and everything
like that. But are you willing to put the work
in to actually get better? Try by fire. The best
way to learn how to not get ran through your
face is about getting ran through your face. And so
if somebody could do that every play, then he's gonna
learn how to not let that happen.

Speaker 5 (19:02):
It's it's a really good example.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
On the first day of May, off and down twice. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (19:09):
Will Will always talk to me like, hey, can you
can you tell you what what what you see here?
What am I doing there? And then a good addition
is is Moses.

Speaker 11 (19:16):
He talks to Moses a lot of of angles and
things like that, so he's always getting better.

Speaker 8 (19:22):
Yeah, what are you seeing from Hero?

Speaker 2 (19:26):
Harol's good?

Speaker 8 (19:27):
It was really good.

Speaker 11 (19:28):
He's fast as a as a difference I see because
he's such he has such a good get off and
hitting the edge and everything like that. Obviously, I'm not Harold,
so I don't take too many things from him because
I'm not as fast.

Speaker 8 (19:39):
I got my own moves. But like, it's good to
see that on the other side.

Speaker 7 (19:43):
Of him.

Speaker 6 (19:45):
Under your belt? What how are you going to feel like?
How would you describe your game going into Since.

Speaker 8 (19:50):
I feel like my game has always been the same
since I've been playing football. Just viot it. So let
me let me go again, run through your face and
then then work from there.

Speaker 1 (19:59):
Okay, what do you think get learned about your defense
since you put the pads on a week ago?

Speaker 8 (20:05):
We just got it.

Speaker 11 (20:05):
Like again, every day we continue to try to get
better and just we don't really again, we don't know
who we are because we haven't done anything yet. We've
been playing training camp, so we just have tests along
the road. Every every day is a test that you
either choose to feel the test and pass the test.
So we had a big test of coming up on
Wednesday when we see Washington and every day you.

Speaker 8 (20:25):
Just try to get better.

Speaker 6 (20:32):
He was part of that.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Any specific that you have.

Speaker 11 (20:37):
For me, I get my vanilla wafers the show, But
other than that, that's us our rookies on snack, Dudy,
make sure the room is stopped fully, start with waters, uh,
any candy anything like that, just for camp and everything
like that. But just like showing that you're a part
of the team and willingness to do that is big
and they've been really good about it. So Nah didn't

(21:00):
talk to nobody when I was a rookie for real.
So I did a little bit, but not too much.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
Question I know, one on one on everything, one on
one with good school camp.

Speaker 6 (21:11):
Or did you get the edge later or did you
have to push you around the edge.

Speaker 8 (21:13):
Just want to make sure not shit. I don't know, bro.

Speaker 11 (21:16):
One on ones don't really matter. There's so many other
things that go into past rushing. Dad, you don't really
know if you win and or lose it for real
until you get a quarterback there. You don't know if
you win and are losing in training camp because the
quarterback may slip out the of the pocket, So I
really don't hold too much on one on ones.

Speaker 10 (21:32):
Thanks.

Speaker 14 (21:35):
See you take the majority of the reps recently at
left guard. You just talk about that transition because obviously
you came in as a center.

Speaker 6 (21:41):
Just about you and your comfortability.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
At that session.

Speaker 8 (21:44):
Oh yeah, it's good.

Speaker 11 (21:45):
I'm learning these things every day, trying to be real
technical in the work because you know, come from center
and your planning.

Speaker 8 (21:52):
Even then going to guard, you got a stagger.

Speaker 11 (21:54):
So just making mistakes every day, trying not to make
old mistakes, try and make new mistakes every day and
just fuck so I'm getting better and.

Speaker 8 (22:00):
Hunting in on my uh hounding on my technique is crazy.

Speaker 14 (22:04):
Mike Rabel specifically when we spoke to him recently, saying
that you've dessert, You've earned your spot kind of you know,
practicing with that top unity.

Speaker 6 (22:11):
What does it mean to have your in these moments
and just have him recognize what you're doing.

Speaker 11 (22:16):
Oh yeah, it's a great thing, especially coming from Brabil,
a guy who's played fourteen years in this league. You know,
it's a good thing to hear. But then the day
you got to come in and work every day, still
got to earn it. Still got to prove it to
your teammates that you're worthy of it, and that's the
exciting part.

Speaker 13 (22:31):
So yeah, sure, generally teams don't put riocky left backle
on a rookley left guard alongside. That's that's sort of uncommon.
What uh do you think between you and Will is
allowing you to do that right now? And what are
the challenges going forward?

Speaker 11 (22:45):
So me and Will we actually did pre draft training together,
so we got to know each other, uh, know each
other pretty well over that well, of course of two
to three months or however long we were it was,
we were there.

Speaker 8 (22:55):
But it's fun.

Speaker 11 (22:56):
We talk every day, we work every day. It's it's
gonna be a challenge and we know that, but but
we're ready for it.

Speaker 1 (23:02):
So it's gonna be fun when you get back to
the hotel with the conversations like between.

Speaker 11 (23:06):
You two, as far as you know, Pression and m
we just we just talk about how fun it's gonna be.
Like it's just like like you said, like I said,
two rookies next to each other, left guarden and left
tackle on the blind side. It's just we know it's
gonna be a challenge every day teams are gonna bring
their best on us, and we just gotta be ready
to get fun with it.

Speaker 5 (23:24):
This is a young team with lots of food.

Speaker 10 (23:26):
Who's somebody that you feel like isn't getting the recognition
that they.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
Deserve, that they stuck out, stuck out team training camp,
the whole team.

Speaker 11 (23:34):
I think, especially with Mike Rabel, he holds each and
every person accountable, no matter who you want, no matter
if you're a one or three like, He's gonna hold
everybody to the same standard.

Speaker 8 (23:43):
So, yeah, your.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Experience left guard to uh, I played left guard.

Speaker 11 (23:51):
I mean I played guard and uh I played Garden
College my first two years and I got switched over
to center. But while I even was at center, I
would take some practice reps at guard too, So it's
not necessarily a new thing.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
I just haven't done it in a while until until now,
looking forward.

Speaker 11 (24:04):
To seeing.

Speaker 8 (24:07):
It's gonna be fun. It's gonna be fun going up
against Washington.

Speaker 11 (24:09):
I got some big guys, quick guys, so it's it's
gonna be a good challenge for us, and it's gonna
be fun.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
I'm just doing what they what they tell me to
do each and every day. Tomorrow they tell me to
go to center.

Speaker 8 (24:24):
I go to center.

Speaker 11 (24:25):
To keep me a left card. I'll stay left card,
just you know, football player. And whatever they want me
to do, I'll do.

Speaker 6 (24:37):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
Snacks, Uh keeping up with the waters in the fridge.
We actually have to restock some of the snacks.

Speaker 8 (24:45):
Now that I'm thinking about it. So uh, it's fun.

Speaker 11 (24:48):
Sometimes we got to carry helmets here and there. But
I just gotta embrace the rookie year. It's you only
go through it once and just have fun with it.
It's a whole bunch of crap, just crap, but it's
it's it's good stuff. You know, we work hard and
every once in a while you want a little one
of a little junk snack and just reach over get
and grab.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Something from the table.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
Art talk about picking us is that someone you've always excelled.

Speaker 5 (25:11):
And how different home from college and then.

Speaker 11 (25:15):
Especially been in the SEC. I feel that you're gonna
get something different each and every week. You're gonna see
defenses that are just doesn't really make any sense. You
just gotta do your assignment. And in the SEC, there's
different twists all over the place. So it wasn't really
necessarily new for me. It's just I have to be
a lot more technical with it now. I can't just

(25:35):
do a lazy set and just kind of just throw
my hands because I know that I'm better than the
guy and now.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Everybody is here for a reason.

Speaker 11 (25:41):
We're all on the same skill level, so you gotta
really hone in on the technique snap them off and
come back square.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
So it's good, it's good practice.

Speaker 1 (25:51):
There is the you know, obviously you know what the
say work out mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
Communication chemistry, that's great.

Speaker 11 (25:59):
We talk every play, talk about what we have to do,
talk about the cadence, trying to reiterate, reiterate everything post
snap them while we're.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
Down on the line. So it's it's it's great.

Speaker 7 (26:10):
Kind of like.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
He's been very I go to Mike.

Speaker 11 (26:14):
And I go to Mike about a lot of things
because you know, like what's this year seven or I
don't know, you're six or seven something like that. But
he's played both go guard positions in the league and
even right tackles. So I'm just asking questions and agent
every day. What he does with his hands, what he sees,
what he looks at when he punches on his set,
how staying inside out just be a patient.

Speaker 8 (26:34):
So he's a he's a great tool for me.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
He wants snacks about Mike.

Speaker 11 (26:40):
Oh, I'll just say make a list and they just
give me a list and the rookiees got and we
go get it. So yeah, thank you guys.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
So what's up?

Speaker 8 (26:50):
How you doing good.

Speaker 5 (26:54):
To take the sharp.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
Training can? How do you think things are going?

Speaker 11 (27:01):
Uh?

Speaker 15 (27:02):
I think things are going good. It's been a good
to get out here and have an opportunity to compete.
It's getting more familiar and more familiar with the offense.
I think the longer you're here, the more it allows
you just to be able to play fast. And I think, yeah,
I've enjoyed being here for the amount of time that
I've had and it's allowed me to play faster the.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
Longer I'm here.

Speaker 13 (27:19):
Right now, what's a competition like that?

Speaker 11 (27:21):
Uh?

Speaker 15 (27:22):
The competition similar to it is everywhere. I think it's
the coach's job to put the best guys on the field,
and it's just my job to show up every day
and do my job.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
What's the bond you guys have, es, it's a pretty deep,
brooking class you guys are.

Speaker 13 (27:36):
Trying to do.

Speaker 15 (27:37):
Yeah, we have a pretty good bond. You know, we
were able to spend a lot of time together during
during ot as. We had a lot of times during
we had like rookie engagements where we had meetings specifically
for the rookies, and we were able to spend a
lot of time together during that.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
And so it's been good getting to know those guys.

Speaker 15 (27:52):
A great group of guys, but more importantly a group
of guys that are you know, hungry and you know,
ready to work.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
So it's been it's been really good to work with.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
Them in different ways.

Speaker 10 (28:00):
You have to try to make the team and find
a place is full back and something that's.

Speaker 8 (28:05):
Been fled at all for year, is it something that
is potentially an option?

Speaker 2 (28:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (28:09):
I think ultimately it's my job to show up here
every day and whatever is asked for me, you go
out there and you execute that at the highest level.
And I think that's just that's really been the extent
of my mindset coming out here every day. It's just
a work as hard as I can control the things
I can control, and you know, do do what my
coaches tell me to see. No man, the Buckeye roots

(28:35):
and the buck Eye family runs deep, but no man
it's my job to come out here every day. And
you know, one of the goals going into you know, camp,
was to go out there and earn a role. So
everybody has to show up here and earn a role.
And so that's been the mindset every day to show
up and you know, add value to this football team
so we can be successful. You ever come by speech, No,

(28:57):
not that I recall.

Speaker 6 (28:59):
Your chemistry was some young guys. With Josh Dobbs, hems
like he's looking your way pretty regularly. Where do you
feel like you're at working with him?

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Comfortable with him? Yeah, Dobbs is great to work with.

Speaker 15 (29:08):
You know, he's obviously a great quarterback, but more importantly
he's a great guy, you know, off the field, and
so him and I are you know, we've been able
to build chemistry. Anytime we're maybe feeling like we're a
little bit off in the past game, we get together
every after every practice and we just talk about how
we can get on the same page. And I always
tell him this one page and it's the quarterbacks page.
So I'm always listening to him seeing how he wants
things to be ran and then going out there and

(29:30):
the goal is just to put it on the field. Uh,
just to make to be a quarterback friendly right runner.

Speaker 8 (29:36):
Just like how much conversation gut full back.

Speaker 15 (29:41):
Yeah yeah, my brother here just asked me that question,
and yeah, I know it's okay, I think, Uh, like
I said to him, it's you know, it's my job
just to come out here and execute whatever's asked for me.
So if they want me to play wherever I'm at,
tight end, fullback, so if they say running back for
a certain package, it's not my job to That's not
my job to necessarily negotiate those kind of things. It's
my job to come out here and execute every day.

(30:03):
So whatever they ask of me is what I'm going
to come out and execute at the highest level possible.

Speaker 7 (30:07):
Your quarterback friendly route runner this time of year, where
you might work with Dobbs, might work with Drake, might
work with Dad, and I imagine they're all a little
bit different, like opposite.

Speaker 6 (30:15):
To be your quarterback friendly rout runner for three.

Speaker 15 (30:17):
Different quarterbacks, Yeah, I mean, I think when in doubt,
you're ultimately safe if you take the meeting to the field.
I think that's the ultimate goal of That's what veterans
do a really good job of and that's what I'm
just trying to continue to grow at is your ability
to take the meeting room, which is just a bunch
of lines on paper, and being able to apply it
to the field. So that's been something that I've been
just trying to focus on, and I think if you're
able to do that at a high level, you'll be

(30:39):
a quarterback, friendly rout runner or.

Speaker 5 (30:42):
Few times actually catch some passes that something see from
tight ends a lot.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (30:48):
Yeah, I mean I think again, like I kind of,
like I said earlier, like the name of the game
is to be how much value can you add to
the team. I think that's really one of the biggest
goals of mine is just being able to add value
wherever I can special teams, you know, blocking, route running,
if I'm split out wide, wherever I'm at, being able
to add value to the team and I'm at a
high level. Yeah, No, I I graduated high school as

(31:13):
a wide receiver and I switched the tight end during college.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
Yeah, it's a the NFL.

Speaker 15 (31:27):
Yeah, Yeah, I think there's just a there's a standard
at Ohio State that is, I would like to argue
to say is higher than most you know, it's it's
and then you know, I was a guy that never transferred,
so I spent five years of my life there, and
you know, it's like a crucible. I mean they I go,
you go through there, and you come out of there
purified and you know, ready for the next level. But

(31:50):
you know that's behind me, and it's you know, it's
a new journey now. And so it's my job to
to take the field every day looking to add value
to this football team. You know, I would be lying
if I said it was easy to you know, to
stay there. That was definitely thoughts of it. But I
think it's you know, it's part of the character that

(32:13):
I want to you know, be known for and you
know have as someone who is you know, loyal to
a certain program. I'm not gonna be someone who bounces
out when things doesn't go my way. And so I
think that's a soft skill that can be applied to
anywhere in life. I think, when whether it's a whether
it's your your marriage or your fatherhood, or being a
teammate or friend, whatever it is, I think trials and

(32:35):
tribulations are inevitable, and so who are you during those times?
And I think, you know that's kind of what kept
me out of Ohio state, and I you know, I
hope to carry those same skills to the next level
as well.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (32:52):
No, Hunter and Hunter and Hoop they're they're great vets man.
They they take good care of us. I think probably
the out of the most of it. What you'll see
us doing is carrying their pads in uh in after practice.
But no, we have we have a pretty nice and
friendly veteran group.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
Uh luckily.

Speaker 5 (33:09):
Thanks, Thanks guys, appreciate
