Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's going on.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
We haven't really talked to you about the day this
morning about a little your situation and watching.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Yeah, I mean, protect your teammates, that's all I got
to say about it. No, I think that's paint from
somebody's face. Mash the game, Yes, sir, play.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
That you watching that play?

Speaker 3 (00:37):
What did you learn from.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Trying to correct that?

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Yeah, I mean we just got to pick up the stunt.
We do it every day in practice. Now it's just
got to go to the game. Uh it's very fixable.
Uh So that's something we'll work on. And you know,
we obviously know that's something that can't happen. Uh So
if we'll get it fixed.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
Well, Deaner, you might set finishing blocks in the game.
How important is that to you? One guy you kind
of sat over five yards down the field.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
And another what was that like for you?

Speaker 4 (01:12):
And kind of how.

Speaker 5 (01:13):
Important is that for you?

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Yeah, I mean I think it's very important, not just
for me, but you know, that's something that we preach
for a whole team, just to you know, we want
to set the tone the way that we play. Uh So,
you know I wasn't the only guy doing that. You know,
everybody was out there, finishing, flying around, and I feel
like that showed.

Speaker 6 (01:32):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
So you know we're gonna keep building to good block
to start on, uh and just keep progressing.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Pictures out there.

Speaker 7 (01:39):
And Drake smiling and laughing on the sideline, Remember exactly
what was said.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
In that moment.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Not really, I mean, we're just out there having fun
supporting the guys you know that we're in at the time. Uh,
you know, watching them go out there do their thing
when they got their opportunity. Yeah, it's awesome, you know,
to be able to get out there and actually you know,
fly around, you know, get the football feeling back of
you know, in game stuff. You know, it's it's special.

(02:05):
Uh So I'm just super excited.

Speaker 6 (02:06):
When your general impress value.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Yeah, I mean, uh, I just feel like, you know,
I got to get better.

Speaker 5 (02:15):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
You know, we have to get better as a team.
You know, where's still a lot of meat left on
the bone, no matter what really happened on the scoreboard.
You know, I feel like, you know, this team, you know,
we have a lot more that we can do, you know,
just to you know, reach where we want to go.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
Well, I was gonna say, well, you seem pretty comfortable space.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
How would you say that the speed of the game,
how is it different for you than what.

Speaker 5 (02:39):
You saw in n LSU.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Yeah, I mean, uh, you know, the NFL is obviously
a lot bigger jump than in college. But you know,
just being able to get out there, get in space,
show my athleticism something I enjoy. Uh. So you know,
I like when Josh calls those plays.

Speaker 8 (02:56):
What's going to You're gonna get an opportunity to block a.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Quarterback and so just do my job.

Speaker 8 (03:05):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
You know, we have you know, very explosive playmakers.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
So you know, just getting a hat on a hat,
letting them do their thing. They're special. So you know,
give them, you know, the the sliver of air, uh
and they'll make something happening on the offensive on the
same side to free common in this sleep.

Speaker 6 (03:24):
How has it been working with Charon and just take
us through kind.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Of the process of learning how to play together and pair.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
And yeah, it's great. Uh. You know, me and Jared
trained together before we got drafted. Uh and you know,
got to you know, really get to know each other
throughout that process. Uh. You know, so really right now,
as you should know, building that chemistry of us on
the field, you know that trust, that bond.

Speaker 7 (03:49):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
But you know it's very exciting uh for both of us,
you know, be playing next to each other. But you know,
like I said, we're just gonna keep growing. Uh and
you know, try to put our best foot forward.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Each and every days and you are finishing.

Speaker 6 (04:03):
How would you sort of describe your field when you're
opposing your will and someone but.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
You're doing are in the NFL?

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Yeah, I mean honestly, you know, after you do it,
you just kind of got to get up, put it
behind you, uh, and go to the next play.

Speaker 6 (04:18):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
It's kind of like that, you know, leave it all behind.
You know, it can be a good play. For if
you have sixty plays in the game, fifty nine of
them can be good, one bad one. Can you know?
Ruin the night? So you know it's really nothing. You know,
you don't get too high, don't get too low. You
just try to, you know, put your best foot forward
each and every play.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Jared, And how well you guys know each other out?

Speaker 5 (04:41):
How nice is that for you?

Speaker 4 (04:43):
How exciting is that you guys seem like you been
together every step of the way.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Yeah, no doubt. It's you know, like I said, it's
it's very cool. Uh and you know, very good for
us because you know we're both learning so much, uh,
you know at the same time and you know coming together,
you building that bond on and off the field. Uh,
and you know, trying to, like I said, just have
the you know, best chemistry possible that we can have
to go out there and you know, just do our

(05:09):
job at a high level to give these guys, you know,
opportunities to make place.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Let me notice the special teams.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
What does that mean to you? Yeah, yeah, it means
a lot.

Speaker 8 (05:30):
You know.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Coach Abel kind of hands on. So I like that
as a player.

Speaker 9 (05:33):
Coach they'll tell you when you're doing right, and the
coach they'll tell you what you're doing wrong and then
not just not really selling for like the good stuff
and whatever it's bad.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
So he let us know and he talking a little
trash to it. So I love it. I just they
put me out there.

Speaker 9 (05:51):
If they say go to special teams, go to kicker
or whatever, I'm gonna do what they want me to.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Do special teams.

Speaker 9 (05:59):
Yeah, you know, I kind of I kind of blended
together as in like getting releases and getting off the ball.
So that helped that helped me a lot.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Oh, I don't know my place. Uh.

Speaker 9 (06:17):
I feel like I'm doing good wrestling every day, getting
to know the offense better each and every day.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Man, whatever that happens after that happens after that.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
What's your last year maybe behind you?

Speaker 9 (06:31):
And Yeah, my mindset going in this camp was just
honestly getting a good grasp on the on the offense.
And whenever I get the good grass on the offense,
then the rest to take place in the Maryland.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
What's been your process for offense?

Speaker 9 (06:44):
Extra extra minutes after practice. I kind of get with
coach Hodde every morning at eight o'clock. So we do
that every morning, and I gotta I kind of get
what I want to. I kind of get where where
I'm gonna go and where where players gonna run.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
So, yeah, once you been like with.

Speaker 9 (07:01):
Todd o good you know, good coach he played, he
was at he was at past teams at the officive coordinator.
So he tell us all around everything on how we're
gonna do it and hid the quarterback breathing in and
stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Oh, he had a good influence.

Speaker 9 (07:20):
Just a guy out there, one of them guys gonna
tell you what ain't doing wrong and tell you ain't
doing right.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
What's the biggest difference between the guy.

Speaker 9 (07:27):
Every Yeah, oh no, that's a question you need to
ask you tell me. I'm just I'm just playing my game.
That ball comes always my ball, and that's the only
thing that goes in my head.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
What's been your favorite part of camp?

Speaker 9 (07:45):
Uh, coach getting on the field, running the defense, act
like you still playing linebacker.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
That's that's what That's what give me laughing every time.

Speaker 9 (07:53):
Yeah, Yeah, that's been good, you know, kind of.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
I don't know.

Speaker 9 (08:02):
Some days he might be Matt Collins. Next day he
might be somebody else. I don't know, Like when he
walking around with his shoes off. I jone him every time.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Speaking of coach, would you make him jumping in to
break more questions? The other day?

Speaker 3 (08:14):
It was cool?

Speaker 5 (08:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
Did you see the tape on that? No?

Speaker 3 (08:18):
I see, Yeah, thanks you, I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Thanks Jo.

Speaker 5 (08:23):
Good.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
We're in there for long. But what did you make
your first impressions of the first few SERI offensive?

Speaker 7 (08:30):
Yeah, it was good. It was good to get some
runs called. You know, we had the good joint practice
to commanders, but it's pretty situational, so we couldn't get
us downhill. So it was good to get some combinations
and get on some linebackers in the run game, and uh,
try and show the identity that coach Rable wants us
to show.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Would you see Will on tape finishing like fifteen yards
down the field and something. I mean, you've been around
a long while, but what does that say to.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
You about him?

Speaker 7 (08:53):
He's taking away. He's been coached, you know, That's that's
what they're That's what they're coaching.

Speaker 5 (08:57):
Us to do. That's the ideentity we want to have
as aligned as a team.

Speaker 7 (09:01):
And uh, yeah, it's a great it's a great finish,
you know, and then it's sorry, get back up and
do it again.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
How was the communication?

Speaker 7 (09:11):
Yeah, you know, I thought it was pretty good. There's
you can always be better. There's little things like, hey,
instead of this combination, let's hit this combination or.

Speaker 5 (09:19):
Getting off on the on the snap. If we can
all just.

Speaker 7 (09:22):
Just be that much better, it'll help us going forward,
especially riding the ball.

Speaker 5 (09:27):
But I think it was a good start.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Saw Sam here. We couldn't tell martage point what happened.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
Yeah, there, to my knowledge, it hit the rightning. The
running back was kind of parked up.

Speaker 7 (09:37):
The guys didn't hit the side of the leg, So
we'll get get on film and and we'll clean that
up because there's no room for that appreciate We can't tell,
you know, I asked someone, so I don't know if
that's right or wrong, but that's what I heard.

Speaker 5 (09:50):
So basically, quick, can you kind of believe that you're
already returning to Minnesota? Crazy? Crazy?

Speaker 7 (09:57):
You know when I first signed here, not that we're
gonna be going back there for joint practice. So it'll
be it'll be great to see all the former guys.
This business is about relationships and so being there for
six years, whether it's guys in the equipment room, guys
in the weight room, operations guys, most importantly the guys
in that locker room. So I got a lot of

(10:18):
friends there and it'll be good to see them. But
at the same time, compete, uh, and just get that
much closer to the week one.

Speaker 5 (10:26):
You know, it was it was brief.

Speaker 7 (10:29):
He got hurt early, didn't take a lot of snaps
in training camp with us, and then unfortunately it was
non weight bearing, so like wasn't going to practice, wasn't
going to meetings, and then towards the end of the
year started coming around more. But you know, he's got
a great vibe, he's got a great personality. He works hard,
he's got the right attitude. So and yeah, I wish

(10:50):
him nothing but the best. Uh, he's a great kid.
And uh yeah, didn't didn't spend a time time with him. Yeah,
you know, fortunately because I've seen some offenses come in
there for joint practice, but not a lot of game
plan and it's an absolute disaster because you have to

(11:12):
game plan it. But I think fortunately, not just me
going against it for a few years, Coach McDaniel and
Flores know each other very well, and so it'll be
a good battle. It's it's unique because we're not gonna
see that every Sunday all year. But there's little things
wrinkles and this with this defense that you're like, all right,
let's have an answer to this, let's go back to
our rules.

Speaker 5 (11:31):
So it'll be a good test.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Is ultimately the benefit defense like the limits of the
rules that you have.

Speaker 7 (11:38):
Yeah, yeah, you know, it's just it's it's different. It's
at the same time, they're gonna wind up in a
certain base defense, but they're gonna shift to it. They're
gonna blitz to it. But at the same time, it's
you're gonna be across from another man. You gotta win
your job. Yeah, I was, yeah, what did you Uh Yeah,
I mean he's got one of the most famous play

(12:00):
it's not the most famous in Viking history. So I love,
love my time there with him. Already talked to him
about going back. He's been back, he's played there. Might
be a little different because we're at the training camp
or the practice facility, but.

Speaker 5 (12:15):
Yeah, I mean he's he's awesome. He's awesome.

Speaker 7 (12:18):
Haven't seen the We call it the country club up
there because it's so nice. So it's uh, yeah, they
did a great job with it, so it'll be I
mean it's it's great for their guys, but at the
same time for a joint practice setup, it's a good facility.

Speaker 5 (12:35):
We'll stay in the hotel right next to it.

Speaker 7 (12:37):
Uh, it's it'll be a good competition for a few days.

Speaker 5 (12:41):
The best amenity. It's all just new.

Speaker 7 (12:43):
It's all just new, you know, it's uh But at
the same time, it's it's got everything we got here.

Speaker 5 (12:49):
It's just it's just new.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
The guys.

Speaker 7 (12:53):
Motivation, Yeah, always, always but if you go into it
treating it like any other day, you know, that's that's
when your beat. So it's just had the same approach
to practice and then I don't know, finished a little
longer maybe, but hopefully I'm doing it anyway.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
Yeah, thanks, Yeah, all.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
Right, Craig, you gotta settle whether you get under that
that pick here from working to get Drake in the ryzone.

Speaker 10 (13:19):
Nah, I hit the ground, but I should have played
it off. I should have I should have made it
look like I had it and it ran the other way. So,
you know, I definitely learned from that those type of situations.
You guys just play it off. Man, the reps don't
be knowing.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Ye.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
What's been the most surprising part of this process.

Speaker 10 (13:36):
Stood at really just the competitiveness of everything, Like every
drill that you do, like you're competing and you're trying
to earn a role on the team.

Speaker 6 (13:44):
So I think just an intensity of that. It's just
you know, on a whole nother level.

Speaker 11 (13:47):
In college, you guys talked about how this is very
much be attack the quarterback.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
How does it change for what you guys.

Speaker 6 (13:58):
Have to be quarterback? I mean, we gotta be in
tighten coverage. We're gonna be aggressive up front.

Speaker 10 (14:03):
Then you know in the back end, we got to
be able to handle those guys one on one and
you know, playing cover zero things like that, So just
got to be aggressive. It's been good those guys who've
been in the league for a long time, so just
learning from them, asking them questions, being able to hear,
you know, how they think and process the game. I
think it just helps me as a young guy who's

(14:23):
trying to be in those shoes, correct in the game
and put a.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Lot on your planes, spots and things like that.

Speaker 5 (14:30):
Just do you like doing that? Is that something that you're.

Speaker 10 (14:33):
Used to do.

Speaker 6 (14:34):
Yeah, I'm used to doing it. At Cal we kind
of did everything.

Speaker 10 (14:37):
So for me to be in you know, different positions,
whether it's free or in the box, whatever it is, Like,
you know, I'm just ready for the challenge and whatever
position that the coaches want to put me in, I
have to be ready.

Speaker 6 (14:50):
Times almost at the first level.

Speaker 10 (14:55):
Uh, pretty pretty much like a lot in this scheme.
I mean, you're gonna have to do things like that.
So uh, just gotta be ready for those one of ones.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
Defense special teams.

Speaker 6 (15:15):
Mm hm, how much?

Speaker 10 (15:24):
Yeah, I mean, special teams for a young guys a
way to earn a role on the team and have
a spot on the fifty three minute roster. So I
think for me, special teams is important and there's an
extension of defense in a way. So just you know,
being on there and being able to communicate at PP,
I think that's you know, what's gonna help the team
some of.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
Those specific feedback you go stats after watching the.

Speaker 5 (15:44):
Tape of Friday Night.

Speaker 10 (15:46):
Uh, situational awareness. Uh, that's That's pretty much all I
could say on that. Just situational awareness and uh, just
running my feet when I'm tackling.

Speaker 6 (15:54):
Yeah, you m m hm.

Speaker 5 (16:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (16:02):
It's been a connection since my freshman year because he
was a senior in my freshman year, so, uh, we've
always stayed in contact even whenever he left and went
to the league.

Speaker 6 (16:11):
So there's a good connection there.

Speaker 10 (16:13):
We're on the field a lot together, so it's just
fun to play with that guy can talk to some of.

Speaker 11 (16:18):
The guys responsibilities. He said, they've had to stack your
stock the snack table. Yeah, tell me a little bit
about what that looks like for you.

Speaker 10 (16:32):
Whatever snacks that's they put on the list, so they
give me a list. I go to the store and
get whatever snacks on there, and I gotta make sure
it's filled up. Even when we run low, I gotta
go back to the store, go get.

Speaker 6 (16:42):
Some so I can. I'm gonna go to Walmart. I'm
gonna find something cheap.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
You know.

Speaker 10 (16:47):
I'm all about saving money, So I'm gonna go to Walmart.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
Curious.

Speaker 10 (16:57):
M hm. You watching that, uh, the one over in
the in the corner. I think for that one, I
mean it was good coverage. He just he made a play,
And those are kind of you're just like, hey, like
you know it was good coverage on defense, good playing
on offense. That's one of the ones you just you
watch you said, hey, you know that's that's a good play.

Speaker 6 (17:19):
And next one just snapping clear.

Speaker 10 (17:22):
Changed when yeah, because I mean with a tight end,
you gotta know you know the matchup and also like
they're not gonna outrun you. So uh, I think that
your mind kind of changed a little bit and you
kind of want to slow down your process a little bit. Yeah,
all right, thank you, have a blessing.

Speaker 6 (17:43):
How y'all doing what's up with everybody?

Speaker 5 (17:45):
Good good.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Defense, strong practice, advantage.

Speaker 8 (17:56):
Uh you know, gotta get back inside, look at the
tape clean. Never as good, never as bad as you think.
But it's always good to go out there and compete
in the reds on and make some players.

Speaker 6 (18:03):
For sure.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
What's I'm sure you repeat that. Sure you don't wish for,
but they happen.

Speaker 9 (18:16):
You've got how much of the advantage if you taking
advantage of this?

Speaker 8 (18:25):
Yeah, you know, I think it's been good for me,
you know, like you said, to be able to get
those reps under my belt that I haven't been getting
in the slot or even on the outside. So be
able to get those reps it has been good. Build
the comfortability and you know, look forward to going out
there and keep competing every day.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
Because of those reps. And how much are you getting on.

Speaker 8 (18:47):
A basis you know, I'm extremely confident in my abilities
to cover and play out there on the field. Getting
those reps in the slides only boosting my confidence even more.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
So.

Speaker 6 (18:56):
Uh, just gotta keep like you said, like I said.

Speaker 8 (18:59):
Coming and continue to come out here every day and
competing and working my eyes, technique and just little things
to keep improving.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
Today needed work in the red zone from the other night.
You guys like you guys were kind of jacked out
the practice.

Speaker 8 (19:15):
Yeah, we know, RedZone was an emphasis for us coming
in today's practice and then trying to put Friday behind us.
You know, it's a new day, a new work week,
so just had to come out here and get to it.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
What can you tell us about Crack It seems.

Speaker 6 (19:27):
Like he's getting out there.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
Oh yeah, Craig.

Speaker 8 (19:29):
You know, he's a baller, instinctive, smart, smart football player.
He's been picking up the scheme well and he's out
there playing ball having fun. So looking forward to him
making some plays for us this year.

Speaker 5 (19:40):
How much experience summer.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
I've had some experience in the slot.

Speaker 8 (19:45):
I played a little bit of slot my rookie year
and last year, but this year has been the most
slot reps I've gotten, and you know, it's built my
confidence tremendously.

Speaker 5 (19:53):
I've always been able to cover.

Speaker 8 (19:55):
I feel like this year has just been me learning
the different splits of receivers in the slots and things
like that. Uh SOO, man, he's always helping us in
the meeting room. He's in there every day coaching up
the young guys, even helping me with little things. If
he sees a rep on film, where he feels like
he could tell me something I could do better. He's

(20:16):
always in there giving coaching points and just helping out
guys from his experience. You know, I've always done by
double A since since I was a youngster. You know,
just steak stuck with.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Me special, what's work with the energy?

Speaker 8 (20:39):
