The worlds of veget podcasts. Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. Boy,
I don't know how we're gonna do this show on
the heels of that Catch twenty two episode.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
I really just kind of that was like I played
in the game, you know, Yeah, here are the footsteps honestly,
like they legitimately do. Like, who's hearing Bill's boys, Hills?
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Are they just being nice to you?
Speaker 4 (00:38):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (00:38):
Kicking off and overtime at the Jets, Harper's Harper's mouth,
take a kid off the practice squad and put them
back to return to punt in the fourth quarter in
a snowstorm, right could move? We're just gonna run Stephen
Jackson every play in Miami at the court got me
all riled up.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Cody just want to give a shout out to Alex
Barth for being a Bills hater on this network. The
glazing of Realish Allen from Evan and the o Gology.
Wouldn't it be nice for the Bills to win a
Super Bowl? For Mike gets old?
Speaker 5 (01:04):
Alex Barth makes Fred kersh look like like a Bills
backer guy.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
In our new segment for Wednesday, eyes on Evan talking.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Evan was talking a little bit.
Speaker 6 (01:15):
I caught Evan talking to Milton Williams a little bit,
you know, go up and sailors on the Marcus Jones quietly.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Just a private, private party.
Speaker 7 (01:22):
They're good guy.
Speaker 5 (01:23):
Yeah, so we can talk on eleven.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
This is Patriots Unfiltered.
Speaker 5 (01:30):
Presented by Toyota's official website for deals by a Toyota
dot com.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
at jo Lette Stadium. We made it through another week.
Speaker 7 (01:44):
And Kevin and I are our company.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Will Oh, look at you with your your front quarter zips.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
I look at you.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Good, good, good. You're wearing your boots.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
That's my single.
Speaker 7 (01:52):
I'm not wearing my boot.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
You're not wearing your boots, broke on. That's nice.
Speaker 7 (01:56):
Not doing any yard work today.
Speaker 6 (01:58):
That first wear that maiden voyage are the wearing I
haven't done yet.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Oh okay, anyway, Yes, we love Brunt. Brunt is our official sponsor.
Uh we'll read about them later. But here we are
on Thursday, getting ready for a Sunday night game against
the Bills. We're excited and fording to Mike Rabel, they
are too. They understand like what this potentially could mean
(02:21):
and what it does mean for the team being on
national TV against their you know, the people that have
owned the division of late ever since the Patriots did,
it's been all Bills. So here's your chance to go
out there with your quarterback and show them what's for. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
show them yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:40):
Soe Now, these are these are the games you you.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Measure up where you stack up.
Speaker 6 (02:45):
And I don't want to put too much into it
because I think, you know, I think that's been a
big theme this week, everyone talking about like let's just
go up there and see how we stack up, you know,
and then you get in the game and it unfolds
a certain way, and then, you know, do you necessarily
feel like, yeah, they showed how they stack up.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
No, they you know, they did.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
This and they did that and that's how it affected
the game. But uh, a lot to be excited for.
I think with this game on Sunday night, we were
trying to when was the last time the Patriots were
on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
I always trying to wrack my brain for even Paul's
got that one probably two years ago.
Speaker 6 (03:15):
I'll look it up a couple of years ago. I
haven't been a lot of primetimers. So, yeah, we gotta
get ready to step late. Paul, You ready for that?
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Yeah, gotta be tough.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Oh yeah, you guys have to start tonight right now.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Red Sox, we're getting here at three forty five.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
What was us we had to Patriots?
Speaker 5 (03:33):
That'll be about No, I'll get home a little before that. Yeah,
so it's like it wasn't eight.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Twenty twenty fifteen.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Someone in there.
Speaker 6 (03:42):
Yeah, Alex is right though, the late Red Sox one tonight,
so it'll be a little bit.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
Yeah, yeah, I get I'll my PM coffee, oh two thirty.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Will be to be in Buffalo on Sunday. It will
definitely be an afternoon coffee run.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
I take a nap pre game nap Fred when we
had those late games. I'll do something in the morning,
and then I'll take a nap from like for a
morning run, from like you know, one to three, I'll
take a nap.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
I love naps. I haven't had one in many years.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
But I don't remember the last I remember them. I
don't remember my last good night sleep either well, more
importantly for seven.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Where you guys, he's going on over there?
Speaker 7 (04:22):
I get a lot on my mind, friend right well.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Staring up at the ceiling in the bed with the
diet pepsy, what did it go all wrong? Get hit?
Speaker 7 (04:36):
How did I get?
Speaker 8 (04:37):
Well?
Speaker 1 (04:37):
More important for where you were you eating? What's the
food stitch? I mean, you guys always talk about.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Talking, so call me, don't call me, uh, yesterday, and
he wants to go to Duff's because we're staying down
the street from there. Duffs is the i'd say, competitor
to the Anchor Bar Anchor bars where they originated. They
originated the Buffalo Wing and so uh, but Dufts is
just as good. They have a few locations in Buffalo,
(05:05):
so we'll probably meander down there.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
It's both, ye, both the combination.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
I think some people make the mistake of here we go.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Some people make the mistake of putting the sauce on
the wing and then baking it or doing whatever. That's
not how you do it. You fry the you fry
the wing, you get a crispy Then you have your
bowl of sauce tossed and you toss it. That's how
you're doing it. So when you get the wing, the
sauce is wet. Yeah, it's not baked in.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (05:36):
I do like the the wet more than like a
dry rope.
Speaker 5 (05:40):
Yeah. Yeah, they're good. They're both good. But I'm with
Freddy Hunter.
Speaker 6 (05:44):
But it's specifically the orange buffalo sauce with the blue
the ranch for some originated you might have.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
A side of celery with that.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Is there anything healthy about blue cheese?
Speaker 4 (05:54):
No?
Speaker 2 (05:55):
I mean yeah, actually.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
Absolutely.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
I don't do the blue cheese. Might I just like
that because I don't like it. I like the buffalo wing.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (06:05):
I actually kind of lean towards with you sometimes. If
you can't take the heat, what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Some people like ranch? Yeah, and then one Brian Moorey
insists on sour cream, which I don't get interesting. I
hear the same story when I went to be you,
we went to tease pop and that's how I got it.
I've been doing it every time, never changing it says
the same story every.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
Time, confirmed not only as a Patriot, but as a
member of the Tea Teas Pop Brigade.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
That's what he does.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
Cream cream.
Speaker 5 (06:34):
I don't do the I don't I just like Buffalo wings,
sower cream on wings.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
It's fine.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
And so then have we seen that Dan Shaughnessy article yet?
You know, you know Buffalo dust has a you know, lobster.
Speaker 7 (06:49):
Yeah, Edge Boston.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Sounds like he's.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Been doing that article for you know, forty years.
Speaker 7 (06:59):
Man, it works for him. The man is a hall
of famer.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
Yeah, I guess, I guess Baseball.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
He's in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Canton. Yeah.
Really none.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
I was gonna say, that's not around Hall of Fame Cooperstown.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Oh, Cooperstown.
Speaker 7 (07:20):
I knew what he meant.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
We all knew.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
We all didn't.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
So they have writers in the Cooperstown Hall of Fame.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
Yes, it's like the Spink Award or something like that.
Spink not the Spink, not that award. That's much different.
Speaker 7 (07:33):
Okay, that's like the A v N.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Does Canton have one for the football writers?
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Might have a contributor category that.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Like, has any writer got into Canton?
Speaker 9 (07:43):
I want?
Speaker 3 (07:43):
I don't know about journalists, but I think that there
are like broadcasters really, you know, I played by play
guys or like a Howard Cosell type.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
I don't know about that. Interesting, I've never heard.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Of that really I think be wrong.
Speaker 6 (07:56):
Oh you know what, sorry to jump in, all right,
So I just we're seeing here on one of Paul shows,
are the Patriots buying into what Mike Rabel's selling.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
I just wanted to share a little. I don't want
to spoil it.
Speaker 6 (08:05):
Maybe it's a teaser, but Evan and I had the
opportunity to sit down with Jack Gibbons yesterday, and I
really liked what he said about last week, you know,
the friday before they played the Panthers.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Just how did he put it. He's like, just.
Speaker 6 (08:18):
Great vibes, and he said he came home to his
wife and we had fun at work, had fun at work,
and it's an a way to put it.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
And then like, you know, we were just.
Speaker 6 (08:25):
Kind of before actually it's not even on the thing
is that were this was happening before we were talking, and.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
You know, I asked him about it. Oh you you
followed up with it when.
Speaker 6 (08:32):
We actually were doing an interview, but he just, uh,
he said, it really feels like we're building something here.
And I just you know, it was off the cuff
positivity about the team, not even really being pressed about
it that I just thought it was a good sign
of the to what response to this. Are they buying
what Rabel is selling? I think Jack Gibbons yesterday would
say yes.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Yeah, and I get a sense that that's happening.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
This is back to your winning solves everything.
Speaker 5 (08:55):
Well, yes, absolutely, But I do feel like as they're
putting things together, I think that there has been sort
of a buy in to what's going on. And I
go back to you a thing from the postgame show
going to the Rams game from OH one, and I
think that's where we are. That's where we are, boys,
that's the opportunity we have tonight.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Okay, I think.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
We skate with that. So I think this kind of game,
this game, I think is kind of similar. It's a
little bit earlier in the season, which is a little unfortunate,
but I kind of feel like they're buying in and
this is an opportunity for validation that yeah, we have
(09:36):
what it takes to be a good team.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (09:39):
The other thing that stood out to me yesterday I
said a couple of times Grabel Yesterday's saying I think
the phrase was hopefully some of our identity starts to
come out a little bit up there, and I.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Thought that was an interesting thing.
Speaker 6 (09:49):
To say, of these kind of games, playing great players,
a great team, a team that has owned the division
in the last five years, it's an opportunity for them to
show when they they're in this kind of position. We've
seen them play teams that are kind of on their
level so far, but this is one to say, you know,
can they punch up a little bit? Can they maybe
surprise some people that I think we all expect that
(10:10):
it's not going to be a runaway Buffalo game, but
you know Buffalo is going to move the ball, and
that's what Buffalo does.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Can they keep pace a little bit?
Speaker 6 (10:16):
Can they show some some scrappiness to them that that
we saw from those Rabel teams down.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
It's a risky thing to say, I think at this point,
because you don't know what your identity is. So when
you say, I hope our identity can come out, what
is your identity?
Speaker 9 (10:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Well, you know, actually a good or bad um. You know,
good or bad is what comes out your identity and
if it's bad, you hope it isn't. But you just
set yourself up to say, what is the what.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Does the sign say?
Speaker 3 (10:42):
So they have a sign in the team auditorium that
has Patriots team identity, and it's not grammar grammatically corrected too.
It's got a little apostrophe and everything, and it has
four points to it. Effort and finish is number one,
which is Rabel's non negotiable. We're going to make a
contract with ourselves. I think he said about effort and finish.
(11:03):
Ball security and ball disruption is number two, which I
think is interesting coming off the Pittsburgh game that ball
security is on that list. I can't remember off the
top of my head what the other two are now
that I'm saying this, and I will look it up,
but that there's a sign that literally said like it
says this is our identity, like this is what we're about,
(11:24):
and you know so far. I think the best part
about it is that the number one thing effort and finish.
I think that they have played with very good effort
and finish, even on defense when they've given up some
plays on that side of the ball. I've never questioned
one second if their effort is was the issue. So
(11:45):
I think that they're they're starting to get there now.
Ball security and ball disruption maybe on the other side,
they aren't fully in that category yet.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Is talent one of the identities on the well, maybe
keep it real. I'm going to look up the other
that's what.
Speaker 9 (12:01):
I'm trying to find.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
I was looking at it last night too, and I
for some reason can't remember the other two.
Speaker 9 (12:08):
I'm surprised you don't have it memorized. We're going and
I know.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
And that's signed. By the way, in the team auditorium
is seen by all the media when they go into
a post game.
Speaker 9 (12:17):
Yeah, prest cos right there for everybody there like, oh
my god, everyone's like taking a picture of it.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
It is all right here. It is details, technique and
fundamentals is number three, and then number four is make
great decisions and.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
I DTF no details.
Speaker 6 (12:34):
Technique, details, technique and fundamentals.
Speaker 5 (12:38):
Okay, make sure you go that way the next time.
Different things, very very different, trying to great decisions.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
I do remember. I think it was probably Forging Foxborough
him talking about that's on and off the field, right,
They you know, want everybody to make great decisions all
the time, and so that that's not necessarily their football
I identity as much as it is like.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
The character that they want to people.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Yeah, but that's that's what he says, is their identity.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
There you go, So let's see that identity come out
Sunday night.
Speaker 6 (13:13):
Yeah, I mean I love the second one. I mean,
that's the thing up there. You can somehow force another
turnover out of this team this year, and you can't
have a repeat of what you did against the Steelers.
That's a that's a great way to start the ball
security and force some turnovers. And I could put the
Patriots in good position.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
So it sounds to me like Buffalo has more to
lose this right, don't you think we're coming up as
the scrappy underdogs right now? We if we win, it's
a huge upset. If we lose close, okay, But if
the Bills lose close, not good for them.
Speaker 5 (13:48):
Oh Garrett footsteps, continue down that road.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Five it comes Mike, Here comes Mike Ray. Well, we
were winless and mean undefeated until they came and then
they beat us up.
Speaker 6 (14:03):
Oh Bill's boys dot com and not be happy.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Hot scene, Hot scene they are.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
I told you they're hearing. They're hearing it. There their
sensing it.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Could we frame it though the Patriots have more to gain?
Like I think that I could.
Speaker 5 (14:15):
I could frame it that If you have thinks the
Bills have more to loose, So it's the opposite. You're
saying the opposite of him. It can be right, the
Bills have nothing to lose.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
What do you mean they have nothing to lo If they.
Speaker 5 (14:28):
Lose this game, it's a loss. It's a blip on
the rail.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
But but it's it's what it means. What it means
the guys that we've had are put on their neck
for a lot, means for the rising up for the
Patriots with their up and coming quarterback. And they're new
head coach a f C East, you know the gritty
a f C East has Mike Rabel as the head coach.
Speaker 5 (14:51):
All of this is all true in the New England
Patriots thousand butttle Bill fan, you're like, it will effect
absolutely take that from on that the perception of Buffalo
will not have changed.
Speaker 6 (15:04):
Anyone's but Bill's fans perspective themselves.
Speaker 5 (15:07):
The Bills, the bills fans perception of the Patriots may change,
it is change. Their perception of themselves will not and
neither will it for anybody else in the country other
than Fred's Fred k kersh, Well, you.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Don't think that they might be?
Speaker 1 (15:22):
He did? I get that right?
Speaker 2 (15:24):
You don't think that they might be hearing some footsteps
like they come.
Speaker 5 (15:28):
Their perception of the Patriots can change if the Patriots win. Yes,
they think more of their patriots are more of now.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Right now, they're ride and high. They're confident where they're
alpha guys.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
Right.
Speaker 5 (15:39):
What I'm trying to say is just what they think
of the Patriots is not the same as what they
think of themselves.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
But they can be losing a little confidence.
Speaker 5 (15:50):
Yeah, no, no, no, no, how about I mean you
can you can try to convince yourself that they're going
to be like, oh, we lost a game.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
So you don't think that. You know, when Mahomes came
on the scene, everybody in the AFC West was like, oh, shoot,
do you.
Speaker 7 (16:05):
Think Tom Brady did that?
Speaker 2 (16:06):
We're screwed.
Speaker 7 (16:06):
Yes, you're out of your mind.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Oh I'm talking tom Brady did that to the other
teams in the AB.
Speaker 5 (16:12):
You think Tom Brady said this guy's on the scene
now shoot And Josh Allen's not looking at Dray saying
oh shoot.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
I didn't say, Josh. I talked about the fans there.
They're they're they're starting to hear footsteps.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Their fans are they are where we used to be
where like the Flaws and the team that they're picking at,
they are like reasons they're not going to win the
super Bowl, reasons they're not going to win Week five.
So like they're talking about, oh, do you know, are
we going to be able to stop the run consistently enough?
And you know, that's really it.
Speaker 7 (16:45):
Honestly I agree with that.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
That's literally it. And it's funny because I was laughing
with them. I was like, this is how it used
to be for us.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
It was like, do we.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
Have a good enough third cornerback to win the super Bowl?
Speaker 10 (16:56):
Right?
Speaker 5 (16:57):
Used to make fun of me about all the time.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
And that's where Buffalo is now, Like they are looking
at their team and they're saying, and what are what
is going to be the reason for our downfall? Not
why are we going to lose?
Speaker 2 (17:10):
A worthy opponent in the AFC East might be step one.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
They know they're going to have to play somebody to
get to the super Bowl. They don't care who it is.
They know they're going to be there, win, will lose.
On Sunday, they know they're going to be there. They
don't know who they're going to be playing. They probably
would rather be the Patriots than Kansas City based on history.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Okay, but you know you also have to win the
AFC East.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
No, no, they don't.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
Oh oh, they're definitely gonna win the AC.
Speaker 5 (17:37):
But they don't even have to, Like it just doesn't
really matter to them. They're in a different place. For them,
it's Super Bowl or rust.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
I like to pretend that's it. I like to pretend that,
you know, when, like I said, when the Homes came
on the scene, the other teams in the AFC West
are like, oh, shoot, this is gonna be this is
going to be tough here. As long as he's the
core it back, it's going to be tough. I mean
you that guy.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
But there weren't any other teams in the AFC West
that were better than them.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Why because they didn't have Patrick.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
Mahomes, right, but they have Josh Allen, Right, But now
that's but but they don't think that he's better about Josh.
But they thought Patrick Mahomes was better than the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Saturday Night will be step one to changing that narrative.
You have to start somewhere. Put some doubt in the
right you put some doubt in like if he comes
in and just tears it up. It's like, oh, oh, oh,
what do we got here? Come on?
Speaker 5 (18:41):
I tell you guys all the time. I don't like
to tell people how they should feel. Do you want
to feel like that?
Speaker 7 (18:45):
Shoot you?
Speaker 2 (18:46):
I do want to feel like That's fine?
Speaker 9 (18:48):
I do.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
It's not going wrong. Well I feel like that after
Sunday night. I don't know. But that's how.
Speaker 5 (18:53):
I'm just telling your Buffalo is not going to feel
like that. Oh, I'm not telling you how you're feeling.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
I think if Drake May has a great game and
they made like, uh oh, we now might have a
worthy opponent in the AFC.
Speaker 5 (19:04):
They may think that, but they're not going to think
any less of themselves, which is what you started this
whole thing with.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
They'll think a little bit with Evan.
Speaker 9 (19:11):
I don't even.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
They'll think a little bit less of their stranglehold on
the AFCs.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
I don't think they will. I think they'll look at
us a blip on the Reds. Well, it's a one
game detriment.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
Now.
Speaker 5 (19:22):
If they lose like four to the next five, then
you'll say, the Patriots the blueprints and.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
Win in hand and they're going to come to Foxborough
later in the season.
Speaker 7 (19:32):
Will beat him again with a three game leading the division.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
You know we're going to beat him twice.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
Yeah, nice, that's right.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
I like it.
Speaker 6 (19:38):
I mean Patriots have beaten the two out of the
last four the trend mac.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Jones beat him twice, which I think is kind of funny,
Like beat him straight up in twenty twenty three, like
the twenty twenty one game was.
Speaker 5 (19:49):
The twenty three game was a Legui.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
They legitimately beat them that day.
Speaker 7 (19:53):
Yeah, yeah, sixty yard screen backs.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
How do you feel about the mac Jones talk with
brock Perty.
Speaker 6 (19:59):
I've seen a lot of people well saying brock Perty
just hasn't been good and mac Jones look good, And
I'm glad you're asked flashing back to you.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Because would you feel good for mac Jones?
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Absolutely?
Speaker 4 (20:07):
I would.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
I would feel good guy.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
He was the offensive cordat Why would He's a good guy?
Speaker 9 (20:16):
Mac gave Evan a lot more public praise than anyone
in the building.
Speaker 10 (20:19):
Now.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Absolutely, I think.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
He I think I think much like Matt Patricia. He got,
he had a he got, you know, put in a
bad situation here, and you know, I feel bad for
I'm match that good.
Speaker 5 (20:37):
That's one of your favorite, that's one of your all
time greatest. I really think we should say thank you
to Matt Patricia.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
I'll believe that. I still believe that, But no, I
would feel good for Mac.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Yeah, and plus like it makes Kyle look good. So
it's just win wins all around.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
We're all first name. Basically, it's just like.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
Oh, great, Like Kyle Shanahan just like took Mac Jones
and made him into a competent starter again and like,
so now I was right about Mac. I was right
about Kyle Shanahan.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
Is there a legit chance though, that the mac Thrones
overtakes Rock?
Speaker 5 (21:11):
No, not not after the contract I just gave him. Yeah,
and he's hurt, Like it's let's not make it out
that like he played better than him and took.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
His job so much.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
The internet's telling me Sam tonight he'll be on the
on the iPad though, because the Red Sox will have
to be on the big TV.
Speaker 4 (21:27):
Right.
Speaker 5 (21:28):
Yeah, their offense has not been good in any No, no,
well injury Mac Jones games brought Purty games. The only
difference is in mac Jones's defense is he's turned it
over less than Party has Perty's turned it over.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
Yeah, I mean I think, well Kittles out right.
Speaker 5 (21:42):
They haven't Jennings is out hasn't played yet. Yeah, but
they still have Christian McCaffrey.
Speaker 7 (21:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
I had to look that up today. Becauserick not to
tip things, but I don't think I did great in
the picks this week. And part of the reason why
I think was lack of attention to injury issues.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
Is that what it was this week I think was
for me.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Yeah, that's the only thing holding me back. Really, I'm
a bone to pick on the picks.
Speaker 9 (22:05):
Here we go.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Yeah, yeah, so I for them, this is the bone
I have to pick.
Speaker 7 (22:10):
We do them after the show with them.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
So I'm not doing as well in the picks this year,
and I think it's because I'm not doing them.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
Or not on the show.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Excellent analysis by Alex.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
I really think that.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
Okay, I'm glad you brought that up because I've been
saving this email. This comes from ATLEC in Berlin. YEP.
It's always interesting to hear who is doing well or
not with the picks an email or Ben beat me
to it. But like similar to Ben, I also work
with quantitative data and qualitative as well. I've lost it
(22:44):
and find football analytics fun but misused looking backwards or
what has what has been the case with statistics? You're
gonna just talk over me while I'm doing this.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
I'm not going to listen.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Looking backwards with football statistics works better than projecting what
will or should happen in future games? Do look? Football
analytics does not do well with forward looking in a
forward looking manner, I think this is why the nerds
such as Evan do so poorly with the picks. Oh
while Fred, with his feel for the game, does quite well.
(23:19):
Football is so much determined by who shows up mentally
on that day. It is a game of emotions, lots
of highs and lows in a football game.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Okay, First of all, Paul, who did best in the
picks last year?
Speaker 7 (23:31):
I can't recall exactly why.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Not for the why not find a squirrels for five weeks?
Speaker 3 (23:41):
I did it for seventeen.
Speaker 7 (23:43):
Baseball Hall of Fame in Canton?
Speaker 1 (23:44):
I heard you?
Speaker 4 (23:45):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Second of all, I think one of the biggest misconceptions
about the numbers is that they're predictive when they are
not predictive. The numbers that I use, in particular, are
results oriented numbers.
Speaker 5 (23:57):
Right e p a DVOS.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
That's his point.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
No, his point is that he thinks that I'm trying
these numbers are trying to predict future outcomes, which is
not the case. We're trying to tell you about what
has happened. Okay, So no one is saying like I
feel like people get caught up in the word like
expected in expected points at it. They think that it's
like expected goals or expected runs or something like that.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
It's not.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
It's a stat that is taking what has occurred already.
It's not a stat that is meant to be used
to project forward what is going.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
So you're telling me that all this money that these
teams are throwing into statistics and all this stuff has
nothing to do with trying to figure out what's going
to happen.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
Well, that's a different argument, course does. Well, that's but
that's a different thing. We're talking about two different things
like that, to me, is is different than the numbers
that I use. Every team has models and things like
that to predict things. I don't do that, Like, I'm
not trying to like those are like data science.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Just if you're too if you're too into numbers.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
Oh yeah, I don't watch any of them when you're.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Doing something like picking games, because like he said, a
lot of times it is just about who shows up,
and you know, momentum and and all that stuff, and
that's hard to qualify.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
But I don't watch the film, so like, all I
do is look at the numbers.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
Does he have any reason why I'm so terrible at them?
Speaker 9 (25:27):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (25:27):
Is there anything in there about.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
That not bad?
Speaker 5 (25:30):
I'm in the last place. No one uses the numbers
less than I know.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
But Paul, apparently it's you'll come around you. You have
a good feel for it as well.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Just the analytics nerds.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
That are the nicest thing you've said to me in
twenty five years.
Speaker 7 (25:45):
Okay, I have a good feel for it.
Speaker 5 (25:47):
You do, because I felt like he was sort of
equating me with him because we all know he has
a tremendous field for the league.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
Your feel for it comes from like the SEASONSA know,
the seasoned gambler.
Speaker 11 (26:02):
You know.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Over the long term Paul is going to do well.
Speaker 6 (26:06):
Yeah, I'm a season gamb I think nobody can watch
like a bare minimum amount of a game and then
tell you exactly what happened. Then Paul like, like, I'll
watch the highlight or you know, like that it's the
red zone thing.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
He somehow can cobble it all.
Speaker 5 (26:18):
Case in point, didn't see the raphael a bump at bat,
feel like I know exactly what happened.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
Jeopardy James Pettigrew says Alex needs a better poker face.
When Fred starts calling Evan a nerd.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Why I just don't.
Speaker 9 (26:33):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
I don't care when Fred calls me nerd. I care
when emails misconstrued things like that. That's what I Wow,
that makes me angry.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
It does.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
It gets under mister.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
Been.
Speaker 5 (26:46):
I feel like, that's okay, that's a flaw.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Let them get to you like that, dude, not my
whole life. But when you just don't fundamentally, fundamentally understand that,
that's when it annoys me. It pisses me off.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
I mean, he's like a scientist, and he said.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
Nothing that had any source of truth whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
So and the.
Speaker 7 (27:12):
Hey, can I put a bowl on the Hall of
Fame thing?
Speaker 2 (27:15):
A bow on the Hall of fame?
Speaker 5 (27:16):
But Dan shaughnessy, because you know I'm in the it's
a little right and wrong. He's technically not in the
Hall of Fame, but he received the J. G. Taylor
Spink Award for Distinguished Baseball Writing from the BBW a
A and it's presented at Cooperstown, but he is not
a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame itself.
Speaker 9 (27:38):
Peter Dammons, because I feel like he had some type of.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
He probably got the same award.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
YEA, there's one like that for the NFL too. Mary
Kay Cabin in Cleveland just won won it and she
made fun of Bill and it.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
It was one. She was great.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
We had her on the Premium show. Hey Mary Kay.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Yeah, I forget what what the name of the award is,
but there is similar thing like a distinguished Media member
type of word.
Speaker 6 (28:03):
It is funny like after doing this job, going to
like the Combine, the owners meetings, those things, like you
should see the same Mary Kay capots of the world,
the same crew of people at all those different events.
And I realize it doesn't often change all that much
a lot of people, because I used to when.
Speaker 5 (28:17):
We used to do previews every week for the paper,
Brian and I would call a writer from out of
town and just you know, chop it up for ten
minutes and you gotta feel for you know you got
to that's how you get a feel for the league,
like Freddy. But it was the same people. Yeah, you know,
and I can remember you know my you know the
names in Jim Wyatt. I would call in Tennessee. You know,
(28:40):
Pat mcmannonman or Mary Kay. I would call in Cleveland,
Tony Grossei, same people at all the all the different places.
I'm onto side of ghetto Miami.
Speaker 9 (28:48):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Right, well said pretty good because there that's how That's
how he promised his name.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
I love it like that.
Speaker 7 (28:57):
ESPN.
Speaker 5 (28:58):
He's another good guy.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Eric from Amherstburg says what I hear from Evan quote
E p A. Just ignore the expected word English is
in my major. Expected is the past, not what's to come.
End quote clearly clearly the numbers don't work, and it's
about feel I'm better than you and you can't change
my mind.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
Wow, Internetflix, a lot of smoke. Smoke is coming.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
I don't think you want that.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
I already said my piece.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
I'm good, Yeah, okay, come at me, bro, But it
is weird that you containe that PA is about what's
going to happen. But the word expected, it gets everybody
tripped up.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
And I try to.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
So why don't they change it?
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Because it's just what it is.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
I know, I've already made this, Like I've already explained
this as best as I can. Multiple times people get
caught up in the word expected. I'm sorry, like I
can't help you with it.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
Like the expected is.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
In that situation in the game, you know, third and
eight from the four yard line, what is the expected
gain on that play based off of the last decade
of NFL football? What does teams get on third and
eight from the forty yard line? So it's not average, No,
it's an expected This is what the expected outcome in
this situation would be versus what is the actual outcome
(30:20):
of the play? Okay, And so if you are in
third and eight from the forty yard line and you
get nine yards, then you're obviously adding to your EPA
because you picked up the first down. Whereas if you're
at third and eight from the forty yard line and
you get seven yards, you're subtracting.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
But like if I say I expect you to be
a nerd, it's based on that you've been a nerd.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Sure that little bit, Well, my understanding that everyone had hurt.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Nerds are cool now, haven't you a little bit? Like
nerds are like totally Like if you're a nerd, you're
the GM of a baseball team nowadays, Howie Roseman, that's
the ruin. That's another example.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
I mean, I'd like to think I'm a nerd. I mean,
what kind of person puts together a whole time?
Speaker 2 (31:03):
You're a nerd about uniforms, right, Yeah, So I don't
know if they'll have a nerd you know, have monetary rewards,
like being the GM of a pro that's fair baseball.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
There's no.
Speaker 5 (31:16):
Similar everybody has nerd in them. I mean, like I'm
a nerd about things with all like the stupid trivia
and like random nonsense. That's sports minutia. That's nerd. That's nerdism.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (31:27):
I got made fun of all the time when I
was growing up for crap like that.
Speaker 6 (31:30):
It does connect though, like to my youth because I
remember looking at like the Hockey Night in Boston magazines
and like I just I knew every player in Massachusetts
and how it all, you know, And then when I
played against like oh my god, like they were like
I was playing against NHL's But I've always loved that
just that like even like the the next gem website. Man,
I just have so much fun with that looking at
all the different you put together, and that's terrible.
Speaker 5 (31:52):
See that's where I just wanted, all right, my sports
geek stops at viewing.
Speaker 6 (31:59):
So any Patriots news you need to talk about, well,
I think the injuries are interesting to talk about history
with Chase On and Jalen Hawkins both missing yesterday, so
you know that's uh. I think Jalen Hawkins especially, he's
played i think every snap just about and now you're
looking at Kyle dugger maybe playing some safety, which he
really hasn't played safety, like he's just kind of been
(32:20):
in the box guy in sub packages against covering tight ends.
So that's like a trickle down effect because they've got
a couple good tight ends. They got three good tight
ends really, but you know Marty Mapu, so that bump
everybody up and now you're playing Duggar kind of maybe
out of position a little bit now as a safety
in this I don't know if that's the right way
to put it, but I think it's a fair observation
(32:42):
given what his role has been. They don't really have
another free safety type to compare with Craig Woods, and
so maybe Jalen Hawkins gets back out there today could
tell kind of going out to practice.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
Didn't seem like he was going to be active. He
wasn't limping around or anything.
Speaker 5 (32:56):
But did he he talked yesterday? Though I saw some
quotes attributed to him him.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
I don't on the side, not with any of the
big scrums.
Speaker 5 (33:04):
I was reading a story that Karen Grigian from mass
Live wrote and she had you know, they were like
innocuous quotes nothing, But I just thought it stood out
to me because he didn't practice.
Speaker 6 (33:15):
Yeah, I mean, is that part of the thing of
just doing open locker room before practice and you don't
know who's who is or is and who's off limits
and you're not supposed to talk to injured guys, right,
is that kind of rule?
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Well that used to be.
Speaker 3 (33:27):
It's like an unwritten rule maybe just for us. Yeah,
but it's not like you're not going to get like
your credential revoked if you do, but like it's something
that it's a little bit unwritten rule. But I yeah,
it's interesting with Hawkins because he came out to practice
not in uniform, like not dressed for practice, but it
was like doing some stuff off to the side, and
(33:48):
we've seen that, you know last week, like Chase On
also sat out yesterday, also sat out last Wednesday and
ended up playing in the game on Sunday. So I'm
still holding out hope a little bit that Hawkins is
going to be okay, Like if he wasn't gonna play,
then I don't think that we would have really seen
him doing what he was doing off to the side, So.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
Maybe maybe maybe getting bumped up a little bit.
Speaker 5 (34:13):
I mean, that's how they finished the game is Dugger
went back to the Hawkins role and Pettis replaced Dougger's
role in like that big nickel or whatever.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
That would make that would make sense.
Speaker 6 (34:22):
Yeah, okay, I mean I do think it's it's significant
just in terms of the shuffling.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
They might have to make anything out of the practice
squad shuffling that has happened this week.
Speaker 6 (34:33):
They well, they traded out Jack Conley who had been around,
and brought in I mean, they needed to tackle their
their tackle that was on the practice squad got signed
I think to Cleveland, said.
Speaker 1 (34:44):
Thurston out of the third.
Speaker 6 (34:46):
There Munford, thank you of it. Uh, and then they
just swapped Jack Conley for another guard. So to me,
it seems like they're continuing just to shuffle and try
to look for guys that they think might have some
potential for them and uh, just that kind of the
bottom of the roster churning over. But they've been pretty
active with it. I'd say just about every week there
guys are kind of common and going.
Speaker 5 (35:05):
Yeah, I think that's pretty common for the practice squad. Okay,
but I don't know, I mean, other than that makes
a lot of sense the tackle specific But well, and.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
Then we could talk to Paul about this week.
Speaker 6 (35:17):
You're you're your good point about Kaden Wallace last week
with you know elevation, Uh yeah, Imus bred in Heimus
elevated him as one of the backups when you have
Katen Wallace not on the injury report.
Speaker 5 (35:30):
He was already on the roster and was inactive, and
they promoted a you know, a reserve tackle to be
on the active roster, which I found interesting.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
I just wonder if how much experience or how many reps.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
Hash in field.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
Goal block, in extra point block, because that was the
role that was opened on special teams that they needed
to fill because Ben Brown had been in that spot,
and then Ben Brown going into the starting lineup. They
had to remove Ben Brown from that spot. So maybe
you know, if Kayden Wallace is like on scout team
and is like still kind of mixing in and things
(36:11):
like that, maybe he's not on the field goal protection unit,
but him as does have experience in the NFL on
the field goals.
Speaker 5 (36:18):
Brown already on that unit with Jared Wilson, and then
Wilson came out, so they needed someone to replace.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
No, he was on that unit on his own. And
then Jared Wilson didn't play in the game, so then
Ben Brown had to go start at left guard.
Speaker 7 (36:32):
No, so I wouldn't be able to be on the
field goal unit.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
Oh, I think that they maybe just didn't want him
to have to do all of it.
Speaker 5 (36:38):
It's interesting. Yeah, that's just like that to me, is
creating an issue that shouldn't Like if he's on that unit,
it's the field goal you haven't to replace two players, right,
But you know, I leave that from Mike Grease. Michael
break down the core four for me. Mike when they
kicked the field goal, Paul, thanks for that, have it
(37:01):
right here, and he'd have all the all the guys listed.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
One other thing from yesterday. Stefan Diggs talked about this
is going to be an emotional game for him first
game back in Buffalo. I didn't get a good feeling
about that. No, I'm going to take it at face
value that he means that, And I don't want him
like being up there being emotional about being in the game,
(37:27):
because sometimes that can lead to overdoing things.
Speaker 5 (37:30):
You know, you don't want everybody hugging Josh in Denver,
right exactly.
Speaker 2 (37:35):
I know that's good now, but you know what I mean,
Like he's out to prove the whole organization above, like
you know, you made a big mistake and all that stuff,
and then things don't go well in the first quarter
and all of a sudden it kind of steamrolls. Like
I'd rather have him actually feel and not just say this,
but like, no, you know what, it's just another game.
(37:56):
It's another opponent that was in the past, that was
two years ago. Just up here to be the best
wide receiver I can be for this team.
Speaker 6 (38:04):
Yeah, not to prove anything to that team. I tied
a little to another thing he said yesterday. Was asked
about his knee and how healthy he was, and you know,
he said, I'm getting there, but he talked about having
to be on a plan this summer because they knew
that they didn't put him on a plan, he was
probably going to.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
Go full bore into it and that wouldn't have been
the best thing for him.
Speaker 6 (38:21):
So you know, kind of relates to that a little bit,
that he's the kind of guy that's emotional going to
get into it.
Speaker 1 (38:25):
But I don't really share the concern as much.
Speaker 6 (38:27):
He hearing from him yesterday, he seemed like he seemed
a little bit more locked in and intense to me,
tiny bit, I mean, still getting to know him, but
we've heard from him a few times now, he's talking
every Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
I'm excited to see what.
Speaker 6 (38:39):
He's got up there, because to me, he seems like
the kind of guy that this is what the kind
of stuff he lives for.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
Where I was going to go with it. Like the motivation,
I think he looks for things to be motivated by
at this point in his career, Like he's accomplished a
lot and he's been very successful, and I think that
he looks for little things to motivate himself with. And
if going back to Buffalo to stick it to the
bills is one of those things. Then I think that's
(39:07):
sort of where it's coming.
Speaker 5 (39:07):
Your concern, I think is fair. But I'm with Mike
and Evan. I I thought he said all the right things.
And would you rather have him, you know, sort of
lie and make you feel better?
Speaker 2 (39:18):
No, No, I don't want him to lie. I want
him to tell the truth. And I'm taking this as
face value that he really is does think this is
going to be emotional for him? Yeah, so let like, okay,
like you have nothing to prove to Buffalo, prove to us.
Speaker 5 (39:34):
I just like that he hasn't tried to tell anybody
now it's just another game on the schedule.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
But it's not right.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
We know it's not.
Speaker 5 (39:39):
And I thought he said all the right things yesterday
and no issues with anything that Karen.
Speaker 6 (39:45):
Grigan asked him directly about the falling out there and
she said, you know what really happened, and you know,
he didn't really get into it, but it's still uh interesting,
Like I'm just trying to remember back on how that
all kind of fell apart, because it seemed for a
long time like that was the guy with with Alan
and this is what it's going to make it go.
And I mean I I said before, sorry them from yesterday,
(40:06):
but like I respect, they moved on from him.
Speaker 7 (40:07):
It's as simple as what you just said.
Speaker 5 (40:09):
It was all everything always went through him, and then
they didn't feel like that that was the best way
to go about it anymore.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
And I think that he looked for and you remember
that they lost that game in the playoffs, that amazing game,
and you know he stayed on the field after the
game longer than everyone else, and there was a picture
of exactly that was a long time ago.
Speaker 5 (40:28):
I know that wasn't like the last year it was though, No,
that was like twenty one. The first down there, right,
it's just the shoot. Yeah, it might have been the
AFC Championship game here.
Speaker 3 (40:37):
Is twenty twenty.
Speaker 7 (40:39):
Why might I might fans?
Speaker 2 (40:41):
All right, Well, I don't know. I just want him focus.
Like for example, like what if in the first half
he has no targets and he doesn't have a chance
to show out against his former team.
Speaker 5 (40:54):
Would I would be worried about that any any week?
But you are the reason why I said it's fair
that because I would think that if that was going
to be a problem any week, it's definitely going to
be a problem this week if he's not involved in
the first half. I just don't expect it. No, I
think he's the number one gastly after last week.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Last week exactly, okay, you made me feel a little bitter.
Speaker 5 (41:14):
And he's gotten targets like he's gotten targets pretty much
every game. Like the production this game was better downfield.
Speaker 3 (41:21):
He hasn't really complained about it either, which has been
pretty vocal. They throwing the ball, not complaining about it
other than you know, right the guy in Philly who
is all right still making a scene, so you can
have that.
Speaker 2 (41:36):
Okay, eight five to five pats five hundred is the
hot line. Let's get to the phones. We'll go to
Nate and Connecticut.
Speaker 1 (41:42):
What's up, Nate, guys, can you guys here? We will Yepny,
what's up?
Speaker 10 (41:47):
Not one? You know, I'm enjoying the day off. Of
course by calling into you guys. Wouldn't wouldn't be wouldn't
be a Tuesday or Thursday off without calling to you guys,
of course. Uh My question for you guys is uh
I got two of them actually. First off, Hunter Henry,
(42:08):
you know Drake's you know he's been spreading the ball
out to a lot of receivers. But I have a
feeling the Henry and Drake connection is gonna be big
this year. What can we expect out of Hunter Henry
this year?
Speaker 12 (42:22):
Uh?
Speaker 10 (42:22):
You know, out of this game, I should say, uh,
Sunday night, Prime time that it's gonna be big. Everyone's
gonna be watching. What can we expect out of him?
Speaker 2 (42:32):
Uh?
Speaker 10 (42:33):
He's always been reliable. Uh what situations do you think
he's gonna be good in?
Speaker 11 (42:39):
And Uh?
Speaker 10 (42:40):
My second question for you guys is who should I start?
In Fantasy? I got Drake May and I got Josh Allen.
I know Josh Allen. You know he's the He's the
pick for the Fantasy a lot of the time. But
you know, Drake May is a rising star and Fantasy
world and you know, with this big of a game,
(43:04):
I just don't know who to start.
Speaker 2 (43:05):
So is there money involved?
Speaker 10 (43:08):
No, No, there's no money involved.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
I'm for that, Okay. So what happens if you win?
You get anything?
Speaker 10 (43:16):
I mean my record will my record will.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
Improve, right, But I mean, like, like what I'm trying
to get at is, if there's money involved, I think
you got to go with Josh you know.
Speaker 1 (43:27):
Because if the Patriots win and Drake feels great, then
it'll off set the pain of Josh Allen having a
back game and then you'll you'll you'll win either way. Yeah,
that is true.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
Uh is a fantasy football rising star. Drake May's a
fourth and among quarterbacks and fantasy points right now because
you get the rushing yards and touchdowns as well in fantasy.
So he's, uh, Josh Allen's number one by the way,
you know, but but Drake May is you know, he
didn't get drafted by a lot of in a lot
(43:59):
of leagues, so he was like a big waiver.
Speaker 2 (44:01):
Wire, good guy in your bench.
Speaker 3 (44:03):
Yeah, especially if you know you had Joe Burrow or
something like that and you needed to replace your quarterback.
He was a very popular waiver wire pick up in fantasy.
Speaker 2 (44:12):
So I don't play fantasy. But if you have Josh,
I mean Drake May and he's not playing because you've
got Josh Allen, do you trade Drake May for like
another guy on a team that doesn't like maybe the
guy that had Joe Burrow. He needs a quarterback, but
he might have a running back that is really.
Speaker 1 (44:29):
Good strong Fantasy GM Fred.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
Right there, that's how it works if you want to
do that, of course. Yeah, but you would have to
if Josh Allen gets hurt. Now you don't have quarterbacks,
so now you're in the bush.
Speaker 2 (44:42):
There's so many points.
Speaker 3 (44:43):
Yeah, no, it's it's a sound strategy for d Yeah.
Speaker 2 (44:46):
All right, Todd's in North Carolina. I hate Todd. Hey, guys,
down the shirts for you guys, say, I got ocd
Old cranky and dangerous thinking.
Speaker 7 (44:57):
About anyway kind of stray there.
Speaker 2 (45:03):
I'm kind of worried that we're gonna fall into kind
of what happened to Carolina.
Speaker 13 (45:06):
Come off a big win, get going up, and then
they give us a good.
Speaker 2 (45:10):
Punch in the face.
Speaker 9 (45:10):
And I don't know how we're gonna react because I
don't think we've been really punched in the face yet.
Speaker 2 (45:14):
Well that's kind of the fun of Sunday night, is
we don't know. I agree, we don't know.
Speaker 5 (45:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (45:20):
Oh so I think it's a little different because Carolina
probably looked down upon us coming off a big win.
I don't think anyone's looking down at Buffalo.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
Yeah, flying high off their thirty point win over Balkins.
Speaker 4 (45:32):
So my prediction for the game is Buffalo thirty.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
Two, thirty two, twenty eight. Okay, Paul gets his shootout. No,
but that's like, thanks Todd.
Speaker 3 (45:44):
That's a pot game.
Speaker 5 (45:45):
And that doesn't sound like anybody got punched in the face.
Speaker 1 (45:48):
Right unless it was like thirty one nothing at one point?
But yeah, uh.
Speaker 2 (45:55):
Darius from Louisville writes in at podcasts at Patriots dot Com.
I have a couple of things to say, he says.
I believe no matter what sport you play or coach,
you always circle at least one game on your schedule,
whether it's a rival X team or a certain matchup
you may have. So I think Josh, Drake and Diggs
have something to prove Sunday night. And by Josh he
(46:17):
means McDaniels, I'm sure uh, And we will see a
couple of new things from Josh that involves Diggs getting
schemed open. I think we are up and ready for
the challenge and we win the game thirty one to
twenty eight.
Speaker 1 (46:31):
Wow, just flip it.
Speaker 2 (46:33):
So this is a circle game. Schedule came out. They
all circled this game.
Speaker 3 (46:37):
Why would McDaniels.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
I think he would have circled the Raiders, right, That's.
Speaker 7 (46:44):
Like Digs I get it. Yeah, for all the reasons,
Fred said.
Speaker 1 (46:46):
Mac Collins. What did Mac Collins have to say yesterday
about the match?
Speaker 5 (46:49):
Mc collins just circles the whole season because he played
for every team back as.
Speaker 9 (46:53):
One of my favorite interviews I've ever done, and I
think I could have gone for like an hour with him,
but he was just like, they're just a discipline team.
They're the alphas of the division right now, so you're
always going to look at a game against an opponent
like that and want to bring it all. I don't
think did you.
Speaker 5 (47:07):
Talk to Mac for the TV show? Yes, Patriots Unfiltered
on TV?
Speaker 1 (47:14):
Okay, Mike.
Speaker 5 (47:16):
Mike deemed it powat so.
Speaker 1 (47:19):
Television one being one word, and that will be.
Speaker 7 (47:23):
Today tonight tonight tonight night.
Speaker 1 (47:26):
Yea as Channel thirty eight.
Speaker 5 (47:27):
As you're watching the Red Sox in between innings.
Speaker 2 (47:30):
Flip over, Yeah, Jeff and Canada disappointing to find out
that the PU team is so napped deprived. Naps are
considered very healthy, Yes they are. I agree. I'm taking
the Bills in this game. I just don't think they'll
take us lightly because it's division game, which essentially counts
(47:50):
more in the standings, we're not quite ready for Sunday Night.
The decision for a Sunday Night appearance would have been
made in April. What do you think drove the league
to that decision.
Speaker 5 (48:01):
I think Drake May, Josh Allen, I think they look
you know that they look ahead, and they're trying to say, like,
this is a young guy, a lot of people compared
skill wise, you know, skill set to Josh Allen, second
year new coach with Rabel, Yeah, let's put him on
the on the big stage.
Speaker 3 (48:17):
And early in the season. So it's not like, you know,
they could have flexed them out, but like it's not
like the Patriots are three and eleven playing in Sunday night,
which is the last time they played on Sunday Night
in Denver in twenty twenty three was a Sunday night game.
Speaker 5 (48:31):
But the.
Speaker 3 (48:34):
You usually like when you have a team like the
Patriots Christmas game. Yeah, yeah, you're just not one hundred
percent sure what the other team is going to be.
It makes sense to put it in week five and two.
Speaker 5 (48:46):
No, I I think it makes a lot of sense
if you were going to do it now. I think
what he was getting at is I'm surprised that the
Patriots got one sight unseen in April, they got a
Sunday night game at all. Yeah, which there's a fair
argument for that. But I could understand the leagues, but
I didn't really understand, like the league next week originally
putting the Saints game against the Patriots in the four
(49:07):
to twent slot. Yeah, and then they've since flexed that
out back to one one o'clock. But this game I
could understand it.
Speaker 1 (49:15):
Did you get Buffalo Wings?
Speaker 7 (49:17):
I did, because we got a lunch.
Speaker 2 (49:18):
He didn't, but we did. We have a lunch buyer,
Pete Nadawa, who's now in Jupiter, Florida. Say hello to
Bill Parcells for us. Uh, brought lunch for us today.
Speaker 7 (49:28):
Right, and that's why. So you sided can't take I
think Balo wing.
Speaker 2 (49:33):
Everyone's senses are going crazy with smell.
Speaker 1 (49:36):
Yeah, I was thinking, you want to get Buffaloings. You
get pregame Buffalo Wings.
Speaker 2 (49:39):
But Rodreck get Buffalo She says, wow, Fred, how unlike you?
Of course you want Digs to have a chip on
his shoulder. I'm sure that's what he means by emotional.
He'll be fiery and fully engaged. Probably a big day
for him, both in yards and decoy moves. Betty gets
a touchdown to book. It takes two to tango though.
Speaker 5 (50:00):
I know what you're talking about. I know what It
takes too long to play like you did last week.
Not super jacked up, right?
Speaker 2 (50:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (50:08):
But you know if he is superjacked up that the
Buffalo fans are going to hear it from him after
he scores touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (50:13):
He used to give it to the Patriots fans. Oh yeah,
I'm looking forward to be on that side.
Speaker 5 (50:16):
Will you be angry?
Speaker 3 (50:17):
No, you're not going to be consistente?
Speaker 1 (50:20):
No, No, that's okay. I'm perfectly consistent. If he's our guy,
I love him, he's there guy.

We're excited now to be joined by Jack gibbons. Jack,
thanks for sitting down with us our first two timers.
Is your second time here in the studio, And I'm
just gonna start us off with a random question a
Wednesday practice in the NFL, like, what is that? What
does that entail? You know, you just got it back
off the field. How do you get things going during
the week. Yeah, it's just kind of our first introduction
to the opponent. We're doing a ton of first and
second down, get all our install in, see all their
(53:24):
kind of based D and D runs, passes, get a
ton of reps in reping, multiple calls to every the
big plays we expect to see. So it's a big
mental day getting a whole install in and then just
getting a ton of reps.
Speaker 3 (53:36):
Jack, coming off that when we were just talking about it,
just a big win for you guys, and you said
you could feel something like that there. We're starting to
build towards something. I think is what you said, What
makes you feel that way? And how much does coach
Rabel have to do with that?
Speaker 13 (53:49):
Yeah, I mean definitely, it feels like we're kind of
getting everyone on the same page, playing complimentary football. Like
last week he saw offense, defense, special teams all kind
of feeding off each other, getting that energy building, and
it's funny.
Speaker 4 (54:00):
I was actually telling my wife before.
Speaker 13 (54:01):
The game last week that we're sitting in the locker room,
in the lunch room, people were just good vibes, good energy, laughing,
joking around. I was like, it feels like we got
something going here, and I think we're gonna have a
great game. And then it turned out that way. So yeah,
that starts to like you said, with coach Braves at
the top, setting that tone. But I think guys are
really buying in.
Speaker 3 (54:18):
So that's interesting that you said that you could feel
it before the game, because we always talk about that,
like you can feel that kind of thing, like even
on like a Friday, that you guys like are feeling
good that week.
Speaker 12 (54:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (54:27):
I don't know what it was.
Speaker 13 (54:28):
I just came home from work one day and I
was just like, man, today was really fun at work.
Felt like the guys were all like excited to be there,
good energy in the building, and I was like, I
think that.
Speaker 4 (54:37):
We're going to play really well this week. I don't know,
but let's also back just quickly.
Speaker 6 (54:40):
I mean, you've had last couple weeks you've been playing
a little bit more on defense.
Speaker 1 (54:43):
You know, how's that been for you?
Speaker 6 (54:44):
I know you're familiar with coach Brabel, but you know,
getting out there on defense, starting to make an impact
there too.
Speaker 13 (54:48):
Yeah, definitely, just trying to take advantage of any opportunity
I get and help the team however I can. I
try to be as versatile as I can as a player,
be able to play multiple positions, help out on special teams,
and uh yeah, just excited.
Speaker 4 (54:59):
To do anything I can us win.
Speaker 3 (55:00):
Yeah, that one TfL in the game on Sunday, it
looked like you shot the gap there just with that
play or you and Robert kind of like switching assignments
or gaps. There is a cool play. I just wanted
to get your take.
Speaker 13 (55:11):
Yeah, we just had a little man pressure on some
blitz and he's fitting off me and I'm just trying
to be disruptive and got the opportunity to make a play.
Speaker 4 (55:18):
So yeah, it was good.
Speaker 6 (55:19):
Nice along those lines out you guys. A couple times
you come out with the other team's had some drives
on you. But it seems like the adjustments have worked
really well. All of a sudden, you guys clamp it down.
They have trouble moving the ball. What's behind those adjustments
when you guys make them a game? Yeah, I think
a lot of it is just energy and execution. I mean,
we're making subtle adjustments here and there on kind of
something that we saw. But I think really what's been
happening for us is somebody makes a play and we
(55:40):
all start feeding off that and start playing together. Kind
Of the energy picks up that everybody's more locked in
after that first play gets made, and so that's a
big focus for.
Speaker 1 (55:48):
Us right now.
Speaker 13 (55:49):
We've been we've been talking about starting fast for the
last few weeks because we haven't done it, but just
everybody trying to be that guy to go make that
first play instead of kind of looking around waiting for
something to happen, Go make it happen and kind of
let the energy build from there.
Speaker 3 (56:01):
I wanted to ask you about Special Teams. Obviously, AFC
Special Teams Player of the Week for Marcus Jones is
pretty cool. The second big return though, it looked like
you guys kind of were building that wall for him
to reverse field and I saw you in there. I
just take me through that play and also not blocking
back towards your old end zone as a penalty, right,
So I saw you guys kind of like boxing out
(56:24):
instead of blocking is out. I'm the store a coaching
point for you guys.
Speaker 13 (56:27):
Yeah, I mean, first and foremost Marcus and then Travon
and give you on the kickoff return, Like we got
guys back there that can score anytime they touch it.
And as the guys blocking for him, that makes it
super fun because you've got confidence that, like, if I
do my job, this guy could really go. And so
I mean, Marcus put that on display last week and
we had that sideline return drawn up to the field,
and like you said, everybody kind of just set that
(56:49):
wall up and we just have trust that he's going
to set the blocks up and get out there. I
actually got beat off the line of scrimmage and so
I just ran to the wall. I was like, he's
going to show up out here somewhere. And then yeah,
finishing with the high screen technique like you said, I
didn't do that Week one against the Raiders cost us.
So something we've been emphasizing a lot lately. Just fit
our finishing techniques down the field to kind of keep
those penalties off.
Speaker 6 (57:09):
Looking ahead to Buffalo, I know, you played up there
last year with the Titans. Know what was that experience
like and what did you take from it that you'll
use this week when you go up there.
Speaker 4 (57:16):
Yeah. I mean, obviously they're tough to beat at home.
Speaker 13 (57:18):
I think it's fourteen or fifteen in a row that
they've won there, and they got a great crowd, and
if they get him into the game, it can be
a really tough environment to play in. So definitely got
to come out and start fast and start making plays.
That's the best way to quiet down the crowd. And
like I said, that's just going to help us feed
off that energy and just knowing that that connectedness that
I was talking about before the tider we stay as
(57:39):
a group, we can go in there and stick together
and get it done.
Speaker 3 (57:41):
I have last one for me. I believe you've played
Josh Allen before right in your career. Just what's it
like facing him and how hard is it to tackle him?
Because he seems like a pretty hardy guy to tackle.
Speaker 13 (57:51):
I mean, obviously he league MVP, he can do it all.
He can run, he can throw, he can make every
play in the book, and so definitely someone that you
got to prepare for and obviously, however he goes, they go,
and so that's something that we're going to have to
put a huge emphasis on, is keeping him in the pocket,
keeping him contained, and yeah, try to slow their offense down.
Speaker 6 (58:09):
This last one for me though, as a linebacker, I mean,
you've got deal with Cook, Kaid Knox. They've got a
good set of running backs and tight ends. You know,
what do you see from those guys as you get
ready for this one?
Speaker 13 (58:18):
I mean, yeah, they've got a great group of skill
players in general, and they spread the ball around to everyone.
I mean, obviously they're the number one rushing offense in
the league right now. Cook is a great back. He's
super physical, fast, kind of just needs a little bit
of space and he's knifing through there. So that'll be
a huge challenge for us. And then in the passing game,
they use every It's really a big detail execution, game
(58:38):
handling our stuff, not necessarily game planning for one player,
but doing your job and being in the right spots
because he'll spread around to anybody.
Speaker 6 (58:44):
Awesome, Well, Jack, thanks so much for taking the time
to sit down with us. We'll get you back here
for a third time sometime sooner.
Speaker 4 (58:48):
Yeah, sounds great. Appreciate that, Chack.

Now great moments in.
Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
History.
Speaker 7 (01:01:30):
All right, so we're going to go negative concerns. This
is basically my wheelhouse.
Speaker 5 (01:01:35):
Okay, So I would worry that how they played offensively
is how they want.
Speaker 2 (01:01:40):
To play right, But you're worried about it.
Speaker 5 (01:01:44):
Yeah, how they played offensively in the game is not
an aberration. That's how they want to go.
Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
To hellent that they want to be conserve. Didn't be
worried about it?
Speaker 5 (01:01:51):
No, I'm that's something that I don't think a lot
of people are worried about.
Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
But I'm talking about you. But you are worried about it.
Speaker 5 (01:01:58):
So the question was, so I think he just put
me in I felt like we were doing picks. All
of a sudden, he put me in the grinder. The
question was, what is something that you were worried about
that other people aren't. You know that you shouldn't be no,
He asked for both. Helen asked, no, I know, but it.
Speaker 2 (01:02:15):
Wasn't what are you worried about that? Other people? It's like,
what are you worried about that you shouldn't be worried about?
Speaker 5 (01:02:20):
Okay, well, this is something that other people aren't worried about.
Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
But I went bringing other people. I want to know
your opinion.
Speaker 5 (01:02:27):
I just told you, Okay, how they play offense is
something that I would I would be worried about that.
Fans aren't they think that Sunday was great?
Speaker 7 (01:02:35):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
That?
Speaker 4 (01:02:35):
What that was the second part of that.
Speaker 2 (01:02:38):
That's the spirit of the question.
Speaker 4 (01:02:39):
That's another great moment.
Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
All right back here on Patriots Unfiltered eighty five five
PATS five hundred is the hotline podcast at Patriots dot Com.
Is the email address Cody wants to apologize to Mike Cody,
I just wanted to follow up on my email yesterday
snarking at Mike for his oak Golly g Buffalo needs
to win a Super Bowl. I completely agree that Josh
(01:03:04):
and that organization are top tier in the AFC and NFL.
Just wanted to give Alex Barth props for his elite
hater status. He can throw some start on getting sometimes
they hair too much. Bills love on my favorite Patriots. Listen,
love you, Mike, keep doing that.
Speaker 6 (01:03:19):
Well, you didn't have to walk it back, because I
was thinking about that last night, and I think it
was a little extreme saying that I think, you know,
I'd like to see Buffalo won a Super Rule. But
I think the bigger thing though, for me, is that
the Patriots for the last few years that I've been here,
have just been so far behind the Bills that I
was just kind of resigned and just appreciating that they
were a good team and not really looking at them
as a rival or a team that, you know, we
(01:03:41):
were kind of competing with. But I think now it
feels like the Patriots are surgeon a little bit, like
now I'm going to start to hate the Bills again
and be like, oh, you know, we can get them,
and I'll be back on the train of like I
don't ever want to see them win a Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (01:03:53):
Patriots got to put an end to Josh Allen and says.
Speaker 5 (01:03:56):
I just don't really see the issue. If your team
doesn't win it, what do you care?
Speaker 12 (01:04:01):
Who you know?
Speaker 5 (01:04:02):
The other thirty one teams? Like you might think one
team you might think.
Speaker 1 (01:04:05):
You don't get more than the division.
Speaker 2 (01:04:07):
You don't get it.
Speaker 5 (01:04:08):
I would root against a team I hate, like the
Jets would bother me.
Speaker 2 (01:04:11):
But I make up Miami. I hate them.
Speaker 12 (01:04:13):
No.
Speaker 5 (01:04:13):
Not.
Speaker 7 (01:04:14):
But you hate everybody? Not not everybody does that.
Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
I don't do it, not everybody. I Actually I have
reasons you do you hate.
Speaker 5 (01:04:21):
And I respect it, and I do. I have my reasons,
most of them I can rattle off for you. Cincinnati,
the Raiders, well, Steelers, like you.
Speaker 1 (01:04:30):
Hate everybody, it makes it more fun.
Speaker 7 (01:04:35):
I'm not telling you that I don't hate watch. I
have a lot of teams, you know the right.
Speaker 2 (01:04:38):
I like putting myself out there.
Speaker 5 (01:04:39):
I have a lot of teams that I don't mind
being not necessarily for.
Speaker 2 (01:04:43):
I don't mind being vulnerable. Fans like Paul, I don't
want to be vulnerable.
Speaker 7 (01:04:48):
Now that's not true.
Speaker 2 (01:04:49):
They want to hold back. So you know I don't
have to. You know, I'm not going to be made
fun of. I'm not going to get my feelings hurt.
I'm not going to be made vulnerable. I don't mind it.
I'm out there.
Speaker 5 (01:04:58):
Do I strike you as the type that's afraid to
be emotional about things.
Speaker 9 (01:05:03):
Based on every morning when I walk in.
Speaker 5 (01:05:05):
No, thank you, it's pretty I'm afraid to put my
rooting interests out there because I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:05:10):
Going to get hurt.
Speaker 5 (01:05:10):
Well imsestion, for God's sakes, they haven't won anything ever,
well anything that's kind of like a pet thing for you,
you know, like, well, yeah, pretty much the opposite of
how I I root against a lot of teams rather
than rooting four teams.
Speaker 2 (01:05:26):
Yeah, that's exactly right.
Speaker 5 (01:05:28):
But I just don't understand why it has to be
the ones that you do. Like, it doesn't bother me.
If Kansas City wins, it bothers you.
Speaker 4 (01:05:36):
To no end.
Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
That's so much Kansas City. Yeah, oh no, no, no,
I'm serious. I tell you. I tell you if it
was true, that bothers me.
Speaker 9 (01:05:44):
I mean, he bothers me that more than most because
I don't want them. Even in the conversation of the
dynasty that Patriots, No, that's very rational thing with the Steelers.
I don't want them to win it.
Speaker 2 (01:05:54):
Yeah, but I just hate myhomes is so good. You
got to give him, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:05:59):
Give it that.
Speaker 5 (01:06:00):
But they can still annoys at Buffalo and they make
the guys making fun of them.
Speaker 2 (01:06:06):
V from Pittsburgh says, I think I've identified the reason
for the argument between Paul and Fred earlier in the show.
On yesterday's show, Paul handed the mantle of Bill's hater
in chief to Barth and relegated Fred to second place.
Fred can't be second place. He's the o G. I
didn't really take it that way, but good.
Speaker 7 (01:06:27):
He does make you look like you that.
Speaker 5 (01:06:30):
I think Josh Allen is like a yeah, you know,
the best of it better than Brady's.
Speaker 4 (01:06:35):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (01:06:36):
Yeah, I'm telling you, I've been on show so them
like probably three years in a row where he's predicted
the Bills would wouldn't make the playoffs.
Speaker 9 (01:06:44):
Where does it come from?
Speaker 1 (01:06:46):
You know, I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:06:48):
That's a great question my personal opinion. And I said
this a little bit yesterday. I think it was when
you guys were gone. It's just me and Freddie we
we really chop it up. Yeah, it's just Fred and I.
Speaker 2 (01:06:56):
Yeah. Sure.
Speaker 7 (01:06:58):
I think coming out of the.
Speaker 5 (01:06:59):
Draft, after a lot of people that just thought this
guy is terrible.
Speaker 7 (01:07:02):
Yeah, and these.
Speaker 5 (01:07:04):
Draft knicks and definitely one of the they get take committed. Yeah,
And I just don't think it's that hard to just
say I was.
Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
Wrong Darius, and Louisville follows up in his email. There's
a lot of Darius is right, a little bit Nan
and the tailpipe there. I wasn't saying Josh had this
game circled. I was just saying he knows how important
and serious the game could be for Drake and Diggs,
so he will have something up his sleeves for them. Guys.
That's all Paul like that.
Speaker 10 (01:07:30):
I like that.
Speaker 7 (01:07:31):
That was Evan that called you out. He's not here
to defend himself.
Speaker 1 (01:07:35):
Yeah, I like that though.
Speaker 6 (01:07:36):
I mean that that's I think that's kind of Josh,
like he's always got something up a sleeve. We haven't
really seen too much trickeration yet this year. Maybe the
uh the fake push push back.
Speaker 7 (01:07:47):
There's been a lot.
Speaker 5 (01:07:47):
I think there's been a lot of misdirections, a lot
of fake end arounds, a lot of end around double
double pass. Might like a trick play, I mean, you
might run a trick play a season, like a like
a true bred, a true trick check player. But like,
I think they've done a lot of creative things in
the first full I think they're empty in the bucket.
Speaker 1 (01:08:06):
Flicker with with Kyle Williams send him out into the pattern?
Was that what they ran? I forget.
Speaker 6 (01:08:10):
Maybe it's just a play action trying to take a
shot with three times.
Speaker 7 (01:08:12):
Yeah, I think that.
Speaker 5 (01:08:12):
Yeah, like that would be in my my mind's eye,
something like that that kind of walks line the double
pass or half back option.
Speaker 6 (01:08:21):
I don't know if they'll get that crazy, but I
do think they'll They'll try to maybe scheme something up
just to get get Digs a play, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:08:26):
I think that's that's what do.
Speaker 5 (01:08:27):
You think that Josh Josh McDaniels is looking at this
game plan differently than any of the others because.
Speaker 2 (01:08:34):
It's I think it's a progression in his mind.
Speaker 1 (01:08:37):
I don't think.
Speaker 6 (01:08:37):
But I would say as a coach, being conscious of
your players, knowing that if I get Digs a big
play early on, he's going to be fired up and
locked in even more, and I'd love to, you.
Speaker 10 (01:08:46):
Know, get that.
Speaker 5 (01:08:47):
Yeah, I think that makes sense because against Buffalo it
might be in my best interest to get Digs involved.
Speaker 4 (01:08:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:08:54):
Yeah, and Matt Collins too, right, Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:08:57):
Anthony, that's Miami Anthony, get him involved against the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (01:09:01):
Anthony has a reason why Josh might circle this game.
Speaker 5 (01:09:05):
Atlanta's coming up.
Speaker 7 (01:09:06):
Sorry, just let us play.
Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
Anthony Might says, the reason why Josh might have circled
this game is because the twenty one playoff game where
we got wrecked, that's the last game he coached against
them in New England. May he may want a shot
at redemption.
Speaker 1 (01:09:22):
They were overmatched.
Speaker 2 (01:09:23):
Do you think he's thinking about that game?
Speaker 1 (01:09:26):
I think he blocked it out like I did.
Speaker 2 (01:09:29):
That game is rude, Kyle and Pembroke. Sunday Night will
be the resurgence of the Patriots franchise and the emergence
of Drake May as the top quarterback.
Speaker 14 (01:09:38):
In the league.
Speaker 2 (01:09:40):
Fireworks are going to go off in Buffalo with a shootout.
The Patriots will beat the Bills thirty eight thirty five,
with Drake May outdueling Josh Allen, showing the league that
the Patriots are real and so is Drake May and
reigniting the rivalry between the Patriots Nation and Bill's Mafia.
Speaker 5 (01:09:57):
Love it, resurgence, emergents, love it, love it.
Speaker 6 (01:10:01):
Yeah, we'll see. I just I got questions about the
defense in this game. That's my focus, just simplicity is
I think the offense will move the ball. I think
they'll make some plays, they'll have a chance to put
some points on the board. Just how can the defense
find the stops and the turnovers necessary to keep the
Patriots in the game. And I just for a great
(01:10:22):
part of me just feels like I don't know exactly
what this defense still is yet. I know there are
pieces of it that work, but you know, can they
put together a full game, not come out slow, get
consistent pass rush? You know, even the game in Miami
where they had a good pass rush grade, which is
influencing a lot of their standings right now. You know
there's no pressure up until like the fourth quarter, and
(01:10:42):
they have like crazy amounts of it, So you know,
a consistent game from them, not that to me, I'm
no surprise looking at the defense.
Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
Robin san Diego. I watch the Bills and appreciate Josh
Allen even though I'm a Patriots fan. Why because he
hasn't won a ring. He's not a threat. I watch
Kansas City, not even in our a vision, and scream
every time Mahomes leaves the pocket hit him, such as
my psychosis.
Speaker 5 (01:11:05):
That to me, because you want the Patriots to have
the most titles and your guy to have the most
like I understand that.
Speaker 7 (01:11:12):
That makes sense to me.
Speaker 6 (01:11:13):
Yeah, I don't know how anybody can really hate Josh
Allen like I found Peyton Manning hard to hate, like
he's you know, no hilarious.
Speaker 5 (01:11:20):
And yeah, I understood why. I understand why people don't
like Josh Allen because he's in the in the division.
I just disagree with it. That's all the same. It's
the same with Mahomes and it was the same with
Peyton Manning. I never had that kind of hatred for
Peyton Manning.
Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
Just the Jets.
Speaker 1 (01:11:35):
Jets have always just you know, I see the uniform
the Jets.
Speaker 5 (01:11:39):
I can't ruin my Dolphins. Those are the two teams
that I hated the most.
Speaker 1 (01:11:42):
Similar growing up. Frequencies of like the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 7 (01:11:45):
Don't they just relevant all the time.
Speaker 9 (01:11:47):
Yeah, but they always just like your little annoying brother.
Speaker 1 (01:11:51):
But the nineties Bills did they didn't do any damage
to them.
Speaker 7 (01:11:53):
The nineties the Patriots were so bad it didn't matter
to I was like.
Speaker 5 (01:11:58):
Soil parcels came there, didn't happen until Austin and Oklahoma.
Speaker 12 (01:12:04):
You're going.
Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
Hurry, it's picked you know, don't forget. You gotta stink
it up like you do every week. Austin and that
was harsh.
Speaker 9 (01:12:20):
The door was closed to I don't even know if
you heard it.
Speaker 2 (01:12:23):
Oh, we heard it, Austin and Oklahoma. I'm sneaky. Worry
that Drake being too amped up at the start of
the game is going to rear its head this week,
big divisional matchup in prime time, coming off a big win.
Wouldn't be surprised if Drake is pretty jacked up. I
sure hope Josh gives me some easy completions to get
him in the game first. I think that's something you
(01:12:44):
have to think about because he's been he gets he
gets amped up.
Speaker 9 (01:12:47):
I mean, don't you think time experience, there's not a ton.
Speaker 5 (01:12:51):
Don't you think that they'll have like easy completions early
in the game. They have every game done that.
Speaker 2 (01:12:58):
But sometimes he overthrows those.
Speaker 5 (01:12:59):
These he might not make them. Yeah, like against the Raiders,
you know, in the first one. In this game, he
only threw three and complete passes the whole game. One
of them was the first pass yep. So I mean
I'd be surprised that if they're going bombs away the
first drive like, I'm not telling you they won't take
a shot, but you know, like consistently, like every pass
is like twenty five yards downfield. They might take one
(01:13:22):
shot early in the game, but most of the games
so far it's been kind of conservative start offensively.
Speaker 2 (01:13:29):
Roberts says. While I didn't start rooting for the Patriots
until nineteen ninety one, I've lived in New York all
my life. Buffalo is the only true New York team.
There's Jersey Team A and Jersey Team B calling themselves
New York as complete crap, just like their teams. I
would love to see the Bills win a Super Bowl,
as long as it isn't at the expense of the Patriots.
My prediction for Sunday Night is thirty two to twenty
(01:13:51):
eight Bills, though my heart tells me differently. Let's show
Buffalo that the window was closing as fast as the
Patriots are catching up.
Speaker 5 (01:13:59):
That's the second thirty two to twenty eight prediction. We've
had Todd North Carolina Hall play it in the lottery.
Speaker 9 (01:14:06):
That's a confidence in the defense.
Speaker 5 (01:14:08):
It's a little bit of a different score too, you know,
it's not like thirty one twenty eight. Yeah, thirty two
to twenty eight. That's a little yeah, off the beaten path.
They have two different people say it. That's like a
Fred's score or a Chris Berman score.
Speaker 2 (01:14:21):
Yeah, David Nan David Maine says, you guys are frisky today.
You're interrupting and talking over each other more than usual.
I'm guessing it's because you know. The Patriots are flying
home with another win this Sunday. They are flukey wins
every Sunday. There are Yeah, the Giants beat the Charges,
the Browns beat the Ravens, and the Patriots will beat
(01:14:43):
the Bills. The Bills are four to zero and have
been smelling their own farts all month. And where the
perfect team? Where the perfect team to ruin it?
Speaker 5 (01:14:50):
Let's go, Patrick, Browns beat the Packers. By the way,
I lost forty.
Speaker 2 (01:14:55):
One to ten, still an upset to the Browns.
Speaker 5 (01:14:56):
Yeah, No, that's what I'm saying. That's the game he's
talking about.
Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
Let's go to the hotline eight five to five, Pats,
five hundred, Shawn's and Vancouver. What's up, Sean.
Speaker 18 (01:15:06):
Alex, I am totally with you. I don't want Kansas
City or Pittsburgh to win another Super Bowl. I want
the Patriots to improve and be alone in that championship
bragging rights. Now, Fred, I'd be concerned as well, you
know with your analysis of Diggs being too emotional, except
(01:15:32):
for the game last year in Houston around probably about
it almost a year ago because that was against the Bills.
Yeah it was in Houston, but still he did. Okay,
I'd be happy if he's six forra eight for eighty
two yards. So I'll leave you at that.
Speaker 5 (01:15:48):
Good luck with the pis.
Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
Okay, thanks, Sean. You know that game, he's talking about Houston.
Speaker 5 (01:15:55):
This is the first time he's going back to Buffalo.
That's the only going back to Buffer, right, that's the motion.
I know he said that, Yeah he said. I know
that's what Sean said. That game was in Houston, which
I don't think would be as emotional, like he's not
going home.
Speaker 9 (01:16:10):
Like the fans aren't there yelling at him.
Speaker 5 (01:16:13):
I think Fred's concerns I think you're I think they're valid.
I think you have that there's a definite scenario I
could see, well, he gets too jacked up for this
game and he doesn't play as well.
Speaker 7 (01:16:24):
I don't think that will happen.
Speaker 9 (01:16:25):
I just told you that he's like older and more
mature now and just has more wisdom and foresight to
just be level headed.
Speaker 2 (01:16:33):
We've had many many emails about this topic. And I
don't know, Paul, if you're willing, but everybody wants to
know about this road rage story.
Speaker 7 (01:16:42):
There was no road rage story.
Speaker 9 (01:16:45):
Well there was a voice.
Speaker 2 (01:16:47):
Yeah, you lost your voice.
Speaker 5 (01:16:48):
I lost my voice because I was yelling yes, but
not necessarily.
Speaker 2 (01:16:53):
Road You weren't enraged when you were yelling no, but
you were yelling was making fun of a guy. You're
making fun of a guy who was who are driving
like a heard o?
Speaker 7 (01:17:01):
Correct?
Speaker 2 (01:17:02):
So Paul, Paul was yelling at him.
Speaker 5 (01:17:04):
But not necessarily at him. It was just like yelling. Yeah,
you got in front of me.
Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
You're mocking like to myself because there was It wasn't
just to yourself. You were yelling.
Speaker 5 (01:17:14):
But he got in front of me.
Speaker 2 (01:17:15):
I know he doesn't know what, but you did it
to such an extent that you your voice, so.
Speaker 5 (01:17:20):
It was clapping for him. Good job you got in
front of me. It wasn't it was out there. It
was not internal. It was external.
Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
You lost your voice.
Speaker 5 (01:17:27):
Why I was screaming to myself? It wasn't like to me,
a road rage incident means.
Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
You rolled down the window and brandish your weapon or got.
Speaker 7 (01:17:35):
Out of the car.
Speaker 5 (01:17:36):
And like I've seen there was a guy who shot
somebody in Saugust, like last.
Speaker 9 (01:17:41):
Week going around too in Massachusetts. Of two people on
an exit ramp out of their car. It's a man
and a woman. The woman decks the guy and he
starts hitting her back. Oh my god, it's crazy people.
Speaker 1 (01:17:55):
What is going on with us?
Speaker 2 (01:17:57):
What is going on?
Speaker 5 (01:17:59):
So that's why I took exception to like the road race. Yeah,
I just was making fun of a guy.
Speaker 2 (01:18:05):
In fact, you held back, you didn't get enrage.
Speaker 5 (01:18:10):
If I hadn't lost my voice because of it, I
would say it was actually a sign of at age
fifty seven maturity, right because instead of trying to like
get in front of the guy, I just was like,
I'm not going to get in an accident over this.
Speaker 1 (01:18:21):
Go ahead.
Speaker 2 (01:18:22):
But you couldn't let it go.
Speaker 7 (01:18:23):
But I couldn't just let it go.
Speaker 2 (01:18:24):
I let it go.
Speaker 7 (01:18:25):
I had to make fun of them.
Speaker 2 (01:18:26):
Yeah, but that's better than you know, the alternatives usage.
Speaker 9 (01:18:30):
Drivers would rather get into a collision than let you
get in front of them.
Speaker 5 (01:18:33):
So oh yeah, I've been in that situation because I
never I've never had a nice car, so I don't
really care if you bump into it. And I certainly
would fall into that category currently now. But even my
car that I don't care if it gets a dent,
and it needs to last me a little while longer.
Speaker 9 (01:18:47):
So I tried to chances and he sped up so
I couldn't, and he gave me them a tumbo finger.
And I've always just respected the hell out of that,
and now I use it all the time. And I
was like, my cap, what can I say to that?
Speaker 4 (01:19:03):
I know?
Speaker 2 (01:19:03):
But like, why don't we all right?
Speaker 1 (01:19:07):
Let's go?
Speaker 5 (01:19:07):
Why is everybody in a rush?
Speaker 2 (01:19:09):
Sean in Virginia? What's up? Sean?
Speaker 12 (01:19:13):
How's it going?
Speaker 2 (01:19:13):
All right?
Speaker 7 (01:19:14):
Sorry?
Speaker 12 (01:19:17):
When I look at this game, this game is kind
of like reminiscent of the past past foes throughout the season,
this far like they don't have a lot of good
skilled position players. So when I look at this defense,
this defense should be able to line up and win
most of them matchups against the opposing team's offensive players. Now,
what it's gonna come down to when when I look
at this game, is that the linebackers had to play
(01:19:38):
a stellar, you know, fantastic game, you know, be able
to bottle up James Cook and johns Allen because if
they don't, they're not able to do that. Then that's
how Josh Allen is able to convert you know, key
third downs that he probably should have no business converting.
So it's gonna come down to a linebacker play when
it comes to play against Josh Allen. They do that,
then I probably can see the Patriots probably winning about
(01:20:00):
two scores, to be honest with you, but I can
see Jos Alan converting Keith start down, so you had
no business converting. That's all I have to say.
Speaker 2 (01:20:07):
Okay, thanks Sean.
Speaker 7 (01:20:11):
You know I'm pretty optimistic about this game, right yeah,
I do.
Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
Now, So.
Speaker 5 (01:20:20):
Buffalo has no business converting third downs, certain third downs,
but the Patriots do. Like why are the Patriots converting
on third down in this scenario that they're winning this
game by multiple scores? Yes, we're good, but like they
are two games behind it, like they've played four games.
They are two games behind already, right, Like, why are
(01:20:43):
we just dismissing? Buffalo says, this is what the Patriots
fans do, Like I'm going to be excited if the
Patriots win this game, because I think Buffalo is really
good and it will mean more to me than what
they did against Carolina, who I think is really bad. Right,
Patriots fans are going to talk themselves into not all
of them, because there's been a lot of people that
have piticked thirty two to twenty eight. So I'm not
(01:21:03):
painting everybody with a broad brush. But Deshaun, who calls
in the show every day, which we love, is like
obviously doesn't think much of Buffalo. Like I mean, if
the linebackers to stop Josh Allen from converting third downs
he has no business converting, then they're gonna win by
two touchdowns.
Speaker 7 (01:21:20):
Okay, then you don't think Buffalo is any.
Speaker 2 (01:21:22):
Good then, or maybe he just thinks we're really good.
Speaker 5 (01:21:27):
Yeah, you know, I'm sure he thinks the Patriots are
really good, but he doesn't also doesn't think the Buffalo's
any good. If you just think that, there's all you
gotta do is stop Josh Allen from converting more Gordon lungs.
Speaker 2 (01:21:37):
We're up for a tough one. It's Dana, a hard game,
Dan and Poughkeepsie. I thought about calling it earlier this
week to congratulate Evan for overriding the Headsets on Sunday
to call power for trev Trevion's first touchdown. But I
feel there's even bigger news you people have not addressed yet.
I was catching up on Paul's shows, where the man
(01:21:57):
himself claimed he was throwing eighty five back in the
day at BU. We need you in the lineup tonight, Paul,
both socks and three.
Speaker 7 (01:22:06):
I could throw strikes for an or two.
Speaker 5 (01:22:08):
Yeah, it's a short you might need a short portion,
right though.
Speaker 7 (01:22:12):
I don't know if I'd like that.
Speaker 2 (01:22:13):
They might need you. Yeah, but let's go Red Sox.
I don't know how they're gonna do it, but.
Speaker 7 (01:22:18):
Like Tom Warner there, let's go Red Socks.
Speaker 2 (01:22:21):
Bell and San Diego. Paul, Like you, I hate the Dolphins.
It goes all the way back to the Marino days.
I never hated the Jets per se as they have
never really been good, but I can't stand their fans.
I root against the Jersey Jets just despite their idiot fans.
Out of curiosity. Who are each of your most hated
sports teams? Mine are the Yankees, Canadians, Lakers, and Dolphins.
Speaker 7 (01:22:44):
That's a good good rundown for me.
Speaker 5 (01:22:46):
Yeah, Yankees for sure, and I would put the Dolphins
at the top of my NFL list. It goes back
to the Bob Greasy, but it's more Don Shula. I
just hated every every year they'd play in the Orange
Bowl and did be some obscure rule that would kill
the Patriots And Don Shula was on the rules committee,
so it always benefited his team. And you know, I
(01:23:07):
know it didn't make any sense, but like ten year
old Paul thought that way, and like to me, that
made sense that like, really, Don Shula wasn't throwing the flags,
but works.
Speaker 2 (01:23:17):
I think in one of our newsletters we listed our
top rival, our top hated teams.
Speaker 5 (01:23:23):
Well, we had to do an extra page document because
Freddy had just too many.
Speaker 9 (01:23:29):
We did a newsletter where you explained all your patriot
and where it came from.
Speaker 10 (01:23:34):
Right.
Speaker 5 (01:23:34):
It was called the Suppler.
Speaker 2 (01:23:35):
I think it was ranked. We had to rank them too. Remember,
and Paul, you were you were surprised at one of mine.
Speaker 5 (01:23:42):
Yeah, I was surprised. I forget what I was surprised at, though,
you know me ct.
Speaker 2 (01:23:47):
It changes, you know, like, you know, what did they
say lately that offended me.
Speaker 9 (01:23:51):
Yeah, board material have been given.
Speaker 2 (01:23:55):
Jordan in London. Quick game about around whether you think
Drake is clutter not. I think Baker Mayfield is clutch
but not very talented. I think Justin Herbert is close
to the opposite, super talented but not really clutch. With
that in mind, which quarterback would you pick from Drake, Baker,
and Herbert for the following for one drive to win
a game?
Speaker 4 (01:24:15):
Baker?
Speaker 2 (01:24:17):
Yeah, for this season, only Herbert Herbert for the next
five years.
Speaker 5 (01:24:25):
M Drake, But I'll say I'll say Drake may because
I think there's still a chance that he gets that
that I haven't seen from Herbert yet, So I'll say
Drake may for the last one.
Speaker 2 (01:24:40):
Okay, all right?
Speaker 5 (01:24:45):
Uh no Baker Mayfield defense from you. It's a little surprised.
Speaker 2 (01:24:49):
I've said what I said about Baker the better league.
Speaker 5 (01:24:52):
With him in it, so I figured you would have
said Baker Mayfield for all of them.
Speaker 2 (01:24:55):
No Drake for the next five years.
Speaker 9 (01:24:57):
Absolutely well, how do you feel about out Baker getting
super like finding things to be emotional about going into
games like he finds an issue with some random person
on every team. That's how they've slighted.
Speaker 2 (01:25:10):
Oh, I didn't know that. Is that what he does? Yeah?
Speaker 9 (01:25:12):
What what was his thing with Carolina? It was like
a random coach that he was like holding a grudge
against going into their games and he states it out yeah,
and press conferences and then I think the coach was like, yeah,
I definitely didn't have a like personnel decision because I
wouldn't have gotten rid of Christian McCaffrey. It was like
a recent thing in the last week or so. Baker
(01:25:35):
loves a bulletin board material.
Speaker 2 (01:25:36):
Okay, I think he's good for the league.
Speaker 5 (01:25:39):
Like Baker, he's played well, your whole thing, but he
has played well. I don't understand why the league is
better because he's in it.
Speaker 2 (01:25:50):
To have good characters that are good players, it's good
for the league.
Speaker 7 (01:25:56):
But is he dad.
Speaker 2 (01:25:57):
Yeah, he's a good player.
Speaker 5 (01:25:59):
No, no, No, like the whole character, he's a good
play I think he's played well the last couple of years.
But I think he's played well the last couple of years.
But I don't look at him like his success isn't
any better than anybody else's success. He's played well.
Speaker 9 (01:26:13):
Maybe it's like giving a thing about like the quarterbacks
who maybe weren't given a proper chance early in their
career and which we're seeing a lot of stately and
they're going on to really find a strug.
Speaker 5 (01:26:23):
There's only one of those guys, Alex that Fred claims
is good for the league, like Sam Donald's not good
for the league. Gino Smith is a good little more
vanilla than Baker.
Speaker 9 (01:26:33):
Agree with.
Speaker 2 (01:26:33):
Of course, there are other guys who are good for
the league, but I think Baker is one of them,
like the d I don't think. I don't think he
gets enough respect.
Speaker 5 (01:26:41):
Daniel Jones good for the league. He's having a good
second act in Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (01:26:45):
He's neutral. He's not bad for the league. Neutral, he's neutral.
He's neutral. It's not bad.
Speaker 5 (01:26:51):
But you know, I'm not disagreeing with your assessment of
Baker Mayfield. He has had a career resurgence and he's
played well.
Speaker 2 (01:26:57):
Like Joe the size effect, he's a great quot is
good for the league because he's got his unique aura
Aura riz would you know, drip fit. He's got good fits.
You know, he's just different, like he's unique, he's genuine.
Speaker 9 (01:27:15):
The other thing is funny because you can tell when
his stylist is dressing him and when he's just putting
on whatever he wants because he either looks ridiculous when
his stylist dresses him, or he looks like a fourteen
year old boy and like an inn.
Speaker 2 (01:27:28):
But the fact that he's willing to be dressed up
like that and strut around, you know, do you think
good for the league? Yeah, and he's a good player.
Speaker 5 (01:27:36):
You're kind of selling me. You're kind of selling me
like Cam Newton good for the league was when he
was in his heyday. Good for it was a character
more than just playing. Well, yeah, I get it. I
get it, at least it's been like two years. But
you finally explained it a little bit. Kind of selling me.
(01:27:57):
Oh boy, it took Alex to explain it for you.
But I'm just saying, like, it's not that.
Speaker 2 (01:28:01):
Other guys are bad for the league, but there's some
guys that like draw attention to the league.
Speaker 5 (01:28:06):
I guess I just never really thought of Baker Mayfield
as one of those guys. Yeah, like Cam Newton, he
does have good commercials and that helps at home with
Baker may.
Speaker 2 (01:28:16):
Right, right, So now, oh he plays for that, he's
in the NFL. I like him. Good for the League's
good for the league. He sold me on it. Oh,
I'm so weird.
Speaker 5 (01:28:30):
Take the win, Fred gave you the w.
Speaker 2 (01:28:33):
Oh God, I need help Michelle, who loves it when
I call her Salatta In regards to the slot position,
could it be that fans in general just had high
hopes for Pop so far it hasn't made their expectations,
and therefore put Digs in the slot and make it
look like Julis or Welker because that's what we're used
to seeing in Josh's offense. But Drake isn't Tom, and
(01:28:54):
Josh has evolved. I don't think we'll win in Buffalo,
but the future is bright, so as Michelle, who loves it.
Speaker 5 (01:29:02):
Not a lot to disagree with in that email. Yep,
I do think there's been some disappointment in Tomorroo Douglas.
I think people thought he was a volume guy and
so far it hasn't looked that way.
Speaker 2 (01:29:12):
But it was a weapon. Yeah, let's see. Curtis and
Saint Louis. Want to thank you for the hard work
you put in. You give us PU Diehard so much
great content and entertainment each and every day. That being said,
I have one little fun Q and A for each
of you, Deuce, Oh he's not here.
Speaker 7 (01:29:30):
I'll answer for Deuce.
Speaker 2 (01:29:31):
What is your Patriots D line? Mount Rushmore, I can't answer.
Speaker 9 (01:29:36):
We'll table that for him.
Speaker 5 (01:29:38):
My guess is it will involve Richard Seymour, uh, Vince
will Fork, and there'll probably.
Speaker 7 (01:29:47):
Be some other guy that I'm only hunt of. No
like a more.
Speaker 5 (01:29:53):
Like a more obscure guy that he fell in love
you know, ya fell in love with for no apparent reason,
kind of like Baker Mayfield being good for the league.
Speaker 2 (01:30:00):
All right, Paul, is there one Patriot player you enjoyed
watching the most? If so, what's your favorite game they
played it? What's the one Patriot player you enjoyed watching
the most.
Speaker 5 (01:30:11):
I mean, I think people know the answer to this question.
They're not going to like it. Drew Bledsoe.
Speaker 2 (01:30:17):
The game, the Buffalo game where he had the pin.
Speaker 5 (01:30:23):
There's a lot to pick from. We talked about those
those back to back games in ninety eight. I think
when he had the finger the pin coming out of
his finger. The Miami Buffalo Miami was the better one
of the two. The Minnesota game where he took seventy
passes and came back for twenty up and down they
won that game in overtime.
Speaker 7 (01:30:45):
I even like.
Speaker 5 (01:30:48):
When he came when he first came into the AFC
Championship game. Now, the second half wasn't great for Drew,
so they wouldn't qualify, But that first drive when he
came in, I was so jacked up when he threw
those straight passes and then last one for a touchdown.
I don't know a lot to pick from.
Speaker 2 (01:31:06):
Alex. You're in charge of planning rkk's next birthday bass bash.
It's going to be a spectacle. Friends, family, Patriots, players
and staff from pastor president will be in attendance. What
task would you find to be the most stressful out
of these three? The seating chart, the music playlist, and
entertainment or the food and drink.
Speaker 9 (01:31:25):
Menu, entertainment, booking, talent.
Speaker 5 (01:31:29):
Really not the seating chart, that's the answer.
Speaker 2 (01:31:31):
Next to who.
Speaker 9 (01:31:33):
I think that would be easier to manage. I have
a good sense of how to deal with people's egos.
Speaker 2 (01:31:38):
I think what if it's why did you put me
next to Bill Parcells?
Speaker 9 (01:31:42):
You wouldn't want to be next to Parcels.
Speaker 2 (01:31:44):
No, I'm not me, it's Robert.
Speaker 5 (01:31:46):
I'm not, but I'm assuming Robert is sitting where he
wants the seating chart, is worrying about everybody else being
pissy about where they're sitting.
Speaker 7 (01:31:53):
I agree with Alex, would.
Speaker 9 (01:31:55):
Entertainment because it's got to be someone big. He's had
Ed Sheeran perform, He's had his rapper friends perform, like
you got on Elton John, Like, am I going to
get in touch with those people? It would be entertainment.
Speaker 7 (01:32:09):
But do you pick the right one? How do you
know which one?
Speaker 9 (01:32:12):
At least three people just to cover all my bases, like.
Speaker 7 (01:32:17):
You know why Fred? Why did you get him?
Speaker 5 (01:32:20):
Like? That would be my baconcern, right, you know, why
did you go with? You know, why didn't you call Elton?
Speaker 1 (01:32:27):
Right like that?
Speaker 7 (01:32:28):
That would be my concern getting the wrong one.
Speaker 2 (01:32:30):
The question for Evan would have been, you've given the
opportunity to talk ball and break down film with anyone
ever employed with the Patriots. Who are you choosing? And
what games are you watching?
Speaker 11 (01:32:41):
M h?
Speaker 2 (01:32:43):
How many Adams?
Speaker 15 (01:32:45):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (01:32:45):
I thought it would be Bill?
Speaker 2 (01:32:46):
Yeah, probably Bill Well.
Speaker 9 (01:32:48):
When we did the newsletter last week and I had
you guys pick like your dream Patriots golf foursome, he
picked all his favorite offensive coordinators that right, Yeah, Charlie Weiss,
Bill O'Brien, Jim Daniels, so one of the ocs I
would imagine.
Speaker 2 (01:33:05):
Yeah, and then Fred, if you could rewrite Patriot's history
and change one thing from the past, what would it
be and why? Oh, it's easy. Seven.
Speaker 5 (01:33:13):
That would be my answer to that's easy.
Speaker 2 (01:33:16):
Like I said many times, our lives would be different
if they had won that game.
Speaker 7 (01:33:19):
Now, now the ninety six Super Bowl would be up
there for me too.
Speaker 2 (01:33:23):
Than well if that happened, our lives could be different too,
you know.
Speaker 5 (01:33:27):
Yeah, but seven undefeated thing is the answer to the question.
Speaker 2 (01:33:32):
Yeah, Eric says Baker's strategy for picking out teams he
doesn't like seems awfully similar to Fred's. You find something
right right, Yeah, I agree. Okay, we're waiting for Deuce
to get back here, so we can start picks while
we're waiting. Joby writes in I disagree about hating on
(01:33:54):
Peyton Manning. I will always hate on that guy for
what he did to that female trainer at UT and
got her fired after she Oh I heard about that.
Speaker 5 (01:34:03):
Yeah, if you hated everybody for those reasons, then I
would respect it.
Speaker 7 (01:34:06):
But you don't.
Speaker 5 (01:34:07):
You hate Peyton Manning because he was the Colts quarterback.
How do you know it isn't because I know, Okay,
naff I.
Speaker 9 (01:34:15):
Had no problem hating Peyton Manning at the time. It
was only after that I kind of came around to
him after he retired.
Speaker 5 (01:34:20):
And I have no like, I don't necessarily you know,
like the Colts and the Patriots, that was a huge rivalry.
The Brady Manning thing was big. So if you're a
Patriots fan, you just naturally hate Peyton Manning. That makes
perfect sense to me. That's sports hatred, you know what
I mean. Yeah, what I never understood is Peyton Manning
(01:34:42):
sucks because he wasn't as good as brain right, you know,
Like that's what I didn't get.
Speaker 11 (01:34:48):
Right, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:34:49):
And your philosophy is build him up because then when
you beat him, it's more of an accomplishment.
Speaker 5 (01:34:55):
But you don't even have to build him up because
I don't need to make it more or less than
it is. But it should be an accomplishment that you're
proud of.
Speaker 2 (01:35:02):
Yep, what's going I thought I heard it too, He's coming.
Speaker 4 (01:35:11):
What's going on?
Speaker 1 (01:35:12):
Waiting?
Speaker 2 (01:35:13):
That's waiting?
Speaker 7 (01:35:14):
I thought we were getting the grand entrance?
Speaker 2 (01:35:16):
Okay?
Speaker 7 (01:35:17):
Is he is he here, Alex, do we are you
aware that?
Speaker 2 (01:35:20):
Look who's back from the locker room?
Speaker 9 (01:35:23):
Was the character friendly to that?
Speaker 4 (01:35:26):
None of them looked like Tamn Henry Hay, Mike.
Speaker 11 (01:35:29):
What was it like in the locker room?
Speaker 10 (01:35:35):
What was it like in the.
Speaker 2 (01:35:37):
Locker got his notes?
Speaker 1 (01:35:41):
I'm still using my terrible picture.
Speaker 4 (01:35:45):
Here.
Speaker 15 (01:35:47):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:35:47):
I came back quick.
Speaker 6 (01:35:47):
I don't have a huge update today because got in
a tiny bit late. There wasn't a lot going on.
We only talked to Antonio Gibson in terms of scrums.
Give me just the general stuff, you know, excited to
go up there see what they got, not taking the
bills lightly, not listening to any of their rankings or
any of that kind of stuff. So, you know, mostly
was talking with some of the media members. I found
out Alex Barf I went in. I was like, why
(01:36:08):
do you hate the Bills? And you just feel like
they haven't won anything yet and everyone's pumping them up.
And they didn't really talk about a Josh Allen take,
but it was more just feeling like the Bills have
been crowned for not doing I guess and making it
to a Super.
Speaker 5 (01:36:20):
Bowl, right, which would be perfectly reasonable if he didn't
tell me they weren't going to make the playoffs every year,
Like telling me they're not going to win the Super
Bowl is different from saying they're not good. Yeah, no,
do you know what I mean? Yeah, that's a good news, Freddy.
Only fourteen games this week, So okay, some buys son
see as much time as normal.
Speaker 2 (01:36:39):
So in our eyes on Evan segment, who was he
talking to Evan?
Speaker 1 (01:36:43):
That's a good one. Who did I see? Now, I
didn't see I was talking anybody. He was kind of
lurking a little bit, you know, like he usually does,
feeling things out. You know, you just you never know.
You turn around and he's just standing there like.
Speaker 9 (01:36:54):
You know, he walks around with his hands behind his
back like and just like looks around.
Speaker 6 (01:36:59):
I can kind of he has to shift behind him, right, ight,
Mike Coup when you like open his locker, Evan was
in the lockers just like, hello.
Speaker 5 (01:37:08):
That would be commercial, the progressive commercial. Yeah, say anything
for it? Right, So yeah, so condic quiet brief.
Speaker 1 (01:37:17):
Stay in locker room today so we can we can
get right to pick.
Speaker 2 (01:37:19):
All right, let's get the picks. All right, it's that
time of the week. I'm gonna have the music p
seems okay, Paul, what happened last week?
Speaker 5 (01:37:29):
So last week it just continues to be dominated by
two people at the top Alex and Fred eleven four
and one Budge, followed by Paul, Evin and Mike at
nine to six and one. Okay, So season standings Alex
and Fred forty eight, fifteen and one, followed by Mike
(01:37:50):
forty twenty three and one, Evan thirty seven, twenty six
and one, and loseraboy thirty five twenty eight and one.
Speaker 1 (01:37:59):
With the spread, this is where it gets interesting.
Speaker 5 (01:38:01):
Three ways high at the top, oh, Alex, Fred and
Paul wow ten and six. Good week money can hold
my head up high at the water fountain this week yeah,
Evan eight and eight, Mike five and eleven pretty.
Speaker 6 (01:38:16):
Bad and I it was like two wins for a while.
I think it won two of night games, the two
Monday night games. I needed those big time.
Speaker 5 (01:38:22):
So the season standing for the spread, Fred ridiculously impressive
thirty nine and twenty five, followed by Alex at thirty
three and thirty one, then Evan at thirty and thirty four,
Paul twenty nine and thirty five, Mike twenty five and
thirty nine. Hey, I've gotten myself out of the basement
(01:38:46):
spread and I'm in the base long climb for four weeks,
so I think.
Speaker 4 (01:38:50):
What's going on?
Speaker 2 (01:38:51):
Yeah, here's the sh But Alex uoses that sheet too,
and well, there you go.
Speaker 1 (01:38:55):
I guess it's not the sheet. It's just my idiocy. No,
I didn't look up the uh look up the injuries.
That's what it was here. Yeah, that's the tan.
Speaker 5 (01:39:02):
It's not the blonde hair jam. It's just dumbled you.
Speaker 2 (01:39:05):
All right, let's get into it because we have to hurry.
You say, there's only fourteen games this week. This couple
buys tonight eight point fifteen on Prime video. Can't be
watching this one. Red Sox are on three and one
forty nine ers are at the three and one Rams.
Speaker 7 (01:39:22):
Good game by eight and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:39:25):
Eight and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:39:26):
Yeah, that tells me that injuries are playing a big
factor in this one.
Speaker 6 (01:39:30):
Yeah, for sure, that's definitely the case. On San Francisco,
I definitely gonna take the the ROMs to win. But
that's uh, that's a lot of points for a divisional game,
and I'm terrible at picking with the spread, so I'm
gonna go with the forty nine ers points please hmmm, I'll.
Speaker 2 (01:39:47):
Take the Rams both ways.
Speaker 9 (01:39:50):
I'm hesitant, but yeah, great, there's.
Speaker 1 (01:39:52):
One last one.
Speaker 9 (01:39:54):
You don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:39:55):
I will take the Rams, but I'm gonna be with
Mike Thursday Night, Division game eight and half seems like
a lot, even with all those injuries.
Speaker 7 (01:40:02):
I'll take the points.
Speaker 2 (01:40:03):
Oh, I pick up another game in all of you
rams both ways?
Speaker 7 (01:40:07):
Well, not on, Alex.
Speaker 2 (01:40:09):
Oh you did it both ways? Okay, good, good, Alex. Good.
Speaker 7 (01:40:12):
That's why you guys have a feel for the league.
Speaker 2 (01:40:15):
Sunday nine thirty in the morning.
Speaker 7 (01:40:17):
Oh right, the two and two Vikings.
Speaker 2 (01:40:20):
Are at the one in three Browns.
Speaker 9 (01:40:22):
What are they in England?
Speaker 1 (01:40:23):
London?
Speaker 9 (01:40:23):
Yeah, yeah, just stay in Europe.
Speaker 5 (01:40:28):
I believe they did the Vikings by four and a
half with Dylan Gabriel set to start, right.
Speaker 1 (01:40:35):
Yeah, that's fun. Yeah, that Cleveland defense is really good.
Speaker 6 (01:40:40):
I'm gonna take Minnesota to win the game, but I
think it's gonna be close one I'll take.
Speaker 1 (01:40:44):
I'll take the points for Cleveland. I think their defense
keeps it close.
Speaker 9 (01:40:49):
One more time.
Speaker 5 (01:40:50):
With the spread ball four and a half, Minnesota Vikings favored.
Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
They don't think very highly of Dylan Gabriel, neither the Shador, Sanders,
whole mind, weird Min's money.
Speaker 5 (01:41:06):
Yeah, I be done with the headache now. And if
it turns out to be a good player, then all right.
So what he wasn't going to do that for me?
Speaker 9 (01:41:14):
The defense of him is saying that. I guess Rex
Ryan told him he needs to just shut his mouth.
So he took that very literally, right, And that's why
I was kind of very immature to me.
Speaker 1 (01:41:22):
But it's like a child.
Speaker 9 (01:41:25):
Minnesota boy.
Speaker 5 (01:41:27):
Oh yeah, still no JJ right, Yeah, I'm going to
take the Vikings anyway. Yeah, they've been out there. I
would assume they stayed in Europe. There's maybe a little
bit of an edge I'll get.
Speaker 1 (01:41:41):
I'll take the Vikings.
Speaker 2 (01:41:42):
Yeah, So you know what I was thinking about that.
I look at them staying out as not giving them
an edge, because you know how tired you are living
out of your suitcase for two weeks. We went to
we'd go to you know, those uh preseason trips, and
by the end of like.
Speaker 7 (01:41:59):
One, you're like, well, can I just go home? Depends
on what department you're in.
Speaker 2 (01:42:03):
Yeah, I I like I like the Browns here. Their
defenses is is good. The Vikings have had trouble since
even with McCarthy in their scoring points. So I like
this to be a low scoring game and the Browns pull.
Speaker 7 (01:42:17):
It out outright.
Speaker 4 (01:42:18):
Yeah, I like it.
Speaker 2 (01:42:20):
Yeah, I like it.
Speaker 1 (01:42:20):
Fred.
Speaker 2 (01:42:21):
Yeah, he's so good.
Speaker 6 (01:42:22):
He's given me a pause with these picks, like, what
is the shark?
Speaker 1 (01:42:25):
What is Fred?
Speaker 10 (01:42:25):
Now?
Speaker 2 (01:42:26):
CBS one o'clock the one in three Texans are at
the one in three.
Speaker 5 (01:42:30):
Ravens Houston by one and a half. Oh boy, yeah,
no la marvelous lamar.
Speaker 2 (01:42:38):
Yeah, who is the quarterback?
Speaker 10 (01:42:41):
I do not know?
Speaker 5 (01:42:42):
Shoot, I I did not.
Speaker 2 (01:42:44):
Know this day.
Speaker 5 (01:42:45):
It's not one of the usual Barsini all along.
Speaker 6 (01:42:48):
Yeah, shoot, Houston has been terrible offensively. You know, I'm
gonna take I'm gonna take Baltimore. I'm gonna take Baltimore
and I'll take I'll take that point in a half.
Speaker 5 (01:43:01):
Hmmm, do I need to pick?
Speaker 9 (01:43:07):
Ah?
Speaker 5 (01:43:10):
We still don't know the identity of the Ravens quarterback.
Speaker 9 (01:43:13):
Huh maybe Cooper Rush.
Speaker 15 (01:43:15):
I just did.
Speaker 4 (01:43:16):
That's who it is.
Speaker 7 (01:43:18):
That's who it is.
Speaker 1 (01:43:20):
She knows what she's doing.
Speaker 5 (01:43:21):
She tried to hold out the information because I heard.
Speaker 9 (01:43:26):
I'm looking for a definitive Cooper Rush is starting headline.
I didn't see that. I just saw a depth chart,
so I'm assuming it's depth charts.
Speaker 7 (01:43:35):
He's looking at depth. Boy, wonder why I'm in last place.
Speaker 4 (01:43:41):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:43:43):
I'm going to take Houston just to see if I
can pick up a game.
Speaker 2 (01:43:47):
You know, I don't know why people talk about John
Harball being on the hot seat. I think he's one
of the best coaches in the league, and I think
that gives them the edge, especially in times like this
when you lose your quarterback and you need to rally
your troops. He's able to do that. Ravens win box
one o'clock, one in three, Dolphins at the one in three.
Speaker 5 (01:44:07):
Panthers Miami by one and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:44:13):
This is this is this is a game no Tyreek Hill.
Speaker 7 (01:44:17):
Seeing him.
Speaker 6 (01:44:20):
No, that's a tough one to call, you know, I'm
gonna I'm just gonna take Miami. I think they got
a little bit more talent even without Tyreek.
Speaker 1 (01:44:27):
But yeah, I don't feel great about it.
Speaker 2 (01:44:31):
A This is tough.
Speaker 9 (01:44:32):
Yeah, this is a coin flip one for me. I
think I'm gonna go with Miami as well.
Speaker 1 (01:44:35):
Though.
Speaker 5 (01:44:37):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the Dolphins too because I'm gonna
assume that because they won the game the other night,
they're gonna look at this they Okay, let's see if
we can string a couple together. I could easily see
Carolina winning this game. But I'm going to take the Dolphins.
Maybe they're they're pass rush gets after Bryce Young a
little bit, Jalen Phillips, Yeah, Chop Robinson and now these guys.
Speaker 2 (01:45:01):
Now, Fred would usually say, Okay, Panthers, if they win
this game against the Dolphins, then it makes us look
our win make a little bit better. But my recency bias,
you know.
Speaker 5 (01:45:13):
It really doesn't. I know what you're saying, but I
know it just means Miami's even worse.
Speaker 2 (01:45:19):
My recency bias against the Panthers, they just look so bad.
I'm gonna pick the Dolphins to win this game. Fox
At one o'clock, the one and three Raiders are at
the three and one Colts.
Speaker 7 (01:45:30):
The Clots by six and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:45:32):
A lot of respect being given to the Colts.
Speaker 1 (01:45:35):
Yea, even by our sheet six and a half. That's
actually right.
Speaker 9 (01:45:38):
I'll take the only game the three.
Speaker 1 (01:45:39):
I'll take Indy and their owner on the sideline, she's
listening in I like that someone called her tomb Raider.
That was pretty funny.
Speaker 6 (01:45:48):
I'll take Indianapolis, and I'm gonna lay the points.
Speaker 9 (01:45:53):
I'll take Indianapolis. I'll lay the points too.
Speaker 7 (01:45:58):
Yeah, me too.
Speaker 5 (01:46:01):
The Raiders just haven't really been able to put it together. No,
I'll take the Colts to bounce back at home.
Speaker 2 (01:46:08):
I will take the points. Colts win, but I'll take
those points. And Tom Brady, you hook your wagon to
a loser.
Speaker 7 (01:46:15):
Oh okay, I don't think there'll be any more kissing
after that.
Speaker 2 (01:46:20):
I don't know why he's involved with that team. Why
is he invite So I have a question.
Speaker 5 (01:46:25):
Get from it from an emailer when you were when
you were gone, what would your all time Mount Rushmore
Patriots defensive line, B defensive line?
Speaker 2 (01:46:35):
So four people Seymore.
Speaker 1 (01:46:42):
I think about it.
Speaker 2 (01:46:43):
I feel like you can talk about it. You think
about it. Might Fred will go on with the next
thing on CBS, the one and three Giants at the
zero to four Saints.
Speaker 5 (01:46:54):
So the Saints are favored by one and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:47:00):
Hmm, Jackson dar how how much of them on the road?
Speaker 6 (01:47:04):
Yeah no, no, Molik neighbors though, uh really kind of
torn on this one. Shoot, I'm gonna buy into the
stupid Jackson Dart hype.
Speaker 1 (01:47:13):
I'm gonna take the Giants.
Speaker 9 (01:47:15):
I hate it, but same.
Speaker 5 (01:47:18):
So normally I take these kinds of things and I say,
New Orleans isn't gonna go winless. But when they do
win a game, I'm gonna have to lose that week
because I'm not going to pick them. But for the
same reason I liked the Giants last week, I don't
like them this week because now everybody's talking about them,
and everybody's talking about Jackson Dart and the Bardy's probably
looking at a spread like this and saying, how can
(01:47:39):
they be underdogs. I'll take the Saints to get off
the schneid.
Speaker 2 (01:47:42):
Okay, I'll take the Giants one o'clock Fox the one
two and one Cowboys after their tie last week against
the zero.
Speaker 5 (01:47:53):
To four Jets, Dallas by two and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:47:57):
It's a weird line, isn't it.
Speaker 5 (01:48:00):
Battle teams scored forty I mean Dallas.
Speaker 1 (01:48:02):
I would feel like, hey, we scored points. I just
I thought the Jets looked too bad. I can't do it.
I'm gonna take Dallas. Lay the points.
Speaker 9 (01:48:10):
Cowboys, Cowboys.
Speaker 5 (01:48:13):
Yeah, this is uh, this is the week. Later of
my giants pick. I'll take the Jets. Dallas somehow thinks they.
Speaker 7 (01:48:21):
Won the game the other night.
Speaker 1 (01:48:22):
They didn't.
Speaker 5 (01:48:23):
They're acting like they did. There were one win team.
The Jets are no win team. I'll take the home team.
Speaker 1 (01:48:29):
You knock out this one too.
Speaker 5 (01:48:31):
I did not did not have enough. I was little, yeah,
and I did not take it.
Speaker 2 (01:48:37):
Yeah. I mean the Cowboys have played better than I
thought they would after the whole Michaeh. Parsons fiascou not defensively,
they haven't. No, I'm gonna take the Jets in this game.
They they played horrifically, but it wasn't like they were outplayed.
They outplayed themselves.
Speaker 5 (01:48:54):
They should have won the game, right right, like thirteen penalties,
three turn right, yeah, redigitous overturned touchdown on a bogus pass.
Speaker 2 (01:49:04):
So they've got what it takes to win a game.
They just gonna get there. They look right, So I
think at home, I think they do enough.
Speaker 5 (01:49:13):
Plus Dawish it won't come and he's watching these teams lose.
Speaker 7 (01:49:18):
We're back now, yep.
Speaker 2 (01:49:20):
One o'clock CBS, the two and two Broncos. That's yeah,
rare game on the road against the Eagles four and oh.
Speaker 5 (01:49:29):
This will be a red zone game for me. Mike,
Eagles by three and a half.
Speaker 6 (01:49:34):
Yeah, I was trying to do a little research after
my poor performance last week. The advanced analytics don't love
Philadelphia like AJ Brown.
Speaker 1 (01:49:41):
Doesn't love Philadelphia.
Speaker 7 (01:49:42):
They could have lost every game.
Speaker 6 (01:49:43):
Yeah, I'm just really impressed with Denver's defense and I
and I to be honest, I'm impressed with with Bonix.
Speaker 1 (01:49:49):
I mean, I just think he's the right fit with
Sean Payton.
Speaker 6 (01:49:52):
I'm gonna take Denver on the road to finally, and
I feel like this is like the fourth time I've
picked the team to be Philly.
Speaker 1 (01:49:57):
But I'm gonna take Denver.
Speaker 2 (01:49:58):
You said six and a hey, three and a half,
three and a hay three.
Speaker 4 (01:50:02):
And a half.
Speaker 9 (01:50:03):
That doesn't make I agree with much of what just said.
I'm gonna take Philly both ways.
Speaker 7 (01:50:08):
Yeah, I agree with absolutely everything Mike said.
Speaker 5 (01:50:10):
And I am still going to take Philly both ways
because I just keep picking against the Eagles and I
don't know, I'm not. I feel like I should.
Speaker 7 (01:50:17):
Win the game every time I do it, but but
you don't.
Speaker 2 (01:50:20):
I don't. This is I I could see the Broncos
coming in and winning this game. But I'm gonna go
with the Eagles. If the spread was a little bit more,
I picked the Broncos to cover, but reen and hey,
I think they cover.
Speaker 5 (01:50:36):
If the game was at home like every now we're talking,
I would be taking Denver.
Speaker 2 (01:50:41):
Four oh five CBS, oh and four Titans against the
two and two Cardinals.
Speaker 7 (01:50:47):
Cam Woods just keeping it a buck.
Speaker 4 (01:50:50):
We suck.
Speaker 7 (01:50:54):
Seven and a half.
Speaker 12 (01:50:56):
Ah.
Speaker 6 (01:50:58):
Yeah, I'm gonna take Arizona, and I think I think
look out below in Tennessee. I'll lay the points, all
seven and a half of them.
Speaker 9 (01:51:05):
I'm gonna take Arizona, but they've been really pissing me off.
Speaker 5 (01:51:09):
Why what did they do, young lady.
Speaker 9 (01:51:11):
I'm not sure that the other night, like just kick
punt the ball to the end zone like they I
don't know, they could have won that game they didn't.
I feel like Arizona, Arizona struggling with it.
Speaker 5 (01:51:25):
Yeah, I'll take Arizona, but I'm gonna take the points
based on the team is not that bad as it
looked in its last like miserable performance theory.
Speaker 7 (01:51:35):
So I'll take Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (01:51:36):
Ah, that's a good pick, paul I, Bill Concur CBS
four or five. The three and one Buccaneers are at
the three and one Seahawks.
Speaker 5 (01:51:44):
Another good game, Seattle by three and a half and
Baker Bake on the road.
Speaker 1 (01:51:51):
Banged up though, right Tampa Bay. They got some they
got some injuries. I don't think Bucky Irving's gonna play.
Speaker 6 (01:51:57):
Seattle's defense has been awesome. I'm gonna take Seattle at home,
and it's hard to It's hard to lay points against
Baker because he's gonna bake.
Speaker 1 (01:52:06):
But I'm gonna lay the three and a half.
Speaker 9 (01:52:10):
I'm gonna take Seattle, but I'm gonna hedge a little.
With Tampa Bay covering, I will do as well.
Speaker 7 (01:52:14):
I'll take the hook. Seattle to win, but I'll take
the hook.
Speaker 2 (01:52:17):
I will take Seattle both ways. Four on Fox, the
three and one Lions are at the two and two.
Speaker 5 (01:52:25):
Bengals destroy by ten and a half.
Speaker 7 (01:52:29):
Ten and a half point road favorite.
Speaker 1 (01:52:32):
Baby. Yeah, so Detroit to win and Jake Browning was
just terrible. Ah, I gotta do it.
Speaker 6 (01:52:39):
But Detroit's the kind of team that doesn't hesitate to
blow teams.
Speaker 1 (01:52:42):
UF do I run it up?
Speaker 17 (01:52:43):
I will?
Speaker 9 (01:52:44):
I will lay the points Byan's Lenz.
Speaker 5 (01:52:47):
Yeah, I'm gonna do the same thing, and Mike, I
think you're right. I think this is one of those
that Cincinnati will be covering I think for a while,
and then once Detroit gets the spread, they won't let
But they're like the O seven Patriots.
Speaker 7 (01:53:01):
So I'll take the Lions both ways.
Speaker 2 (01:53:06):
Yeah, why not. Let's let's have a beat down in Cincinnati,
Lions both ways. Fox four twenty five, two and two
Commanders at the three and one Chargers.
Speaker 7 (01:53:17):
The lack by two and a half.
Speaker 6 (01:53:20):
Jayden Daniels back, Kiden Daniels back, good, good info, Thank you, Paul.
Speaker 7 (01:53:23):
That's like Terry McLaurin. No, though, I'm not that's not
certain though.
Speaker 6 (01:53:27):
Yeah, I was, uh, I was reading a little bit
about this Chargers team, you know, losing to the Giants.
I mean, they look like they were blowing doors the
first couple of weeks. The injuries have piled up for them,
but I think they're questioning themselves a little bit. And
I'm gonna say, though, yeah, gosh, this is a tough
game to pick. You feel me struggling. I'm gonna go
with the quarterback, Justin Herbert and I will I'm gonna
(01:53:49):
lay the points This is a tough one coin.
Speaker 1 (01:53:50):
Flip to me.
Speaker 9 (01:53:52):
Yeah, I'm gonna ride with Justin Chargers. Chargers.
Speaker 7 (01:53:55):
Yeah, I agree.
Speaker 5 (01:53:56):
It's a you know, pretty tight game. I'm gonna take
the lack to bounce back, although I am worried about
the offensive line. You miss three starters in the offensive line.
That's that's hard.
Speaker 2 (01:54:04):
Yeah. I will take the charges as well to win
this game. Now, we skip over the Patriots at eight
twenty on Sunday night and we go to Monday night,
just a single header. It's on ESPN at eight fifteen, ABC,
ESPN two and ESPN Deportes. It's the two and two
Chiefs at the three and one Jaguars.
Speaker 5 (01:54:28):
So can I tell you every week now, I laugh
when they say all the different names, and that just
looks at me. He's like, why are you laughing?
Speaker 4 (01:54:33):
I go.
Speaker 5 (01:54:36):
Frank just reads them all off every week, and we
do the Pigs at Universo that's coming.
Speaker 2 (01:54:42):
Let's step on it to step on it.
Speaker 7 (01:54:46):
Kansas City by three and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:54:49):
This is kind of a sneaky good game, you know.
I'm a little sneak.
Speaker 5 (01:54:52):
Jacksonville is better.
Speaker 1 (01:54:53):
Yeah, I do too, I do too.
Speaker 6 (01:54:55):
Liam Cohens got a little chip on his shoulder, and
I see him after the game last week.
Speaker 1 (01:54:59):
But I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:55:00):
I'm kind of back on my Kansas City train. I'm
gonna take Kansas City on the road, Mahomes, I'll lay
the points.
Speaker 9 (01:55:07):
I'll take Kansas City, but i'll take Jacksonville to cover.
Speaker 5 (01:55:11):
Yeah, I'm gonna probably regret this. I'm gonna take Jacksonville
at home Monday night. I think they got a little
something going. I think this is a big game for them,
and I think that they knock off the Chiefs. We're
still trying to find answers offensively, despite their their good
performance last week. I'm not saying one week fixes everything.
Speaker 2 (01:55:30):
I like Trevn This game i'll take. But you'd like
that te Law Jaguars both ways, Wow, Fred, Actually there's
only one one way.
Speaker 1 (01:55:40):
There's only one way, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:55:42):
All right? Now, we go back to Sunday night, eight
twenty on NBC and Universo. It's the two and two
Patriots at the four and oh Bills Buffalo by eight
and a Half's that's oh, it's gone up.
Speaker 9 (01:55:58):
That's a big one.
Speaker 2 (01:55:58):
What does it mean it it went down seven and
a half. Now it's back up. To eight and a
half nor he gets some New England money back in.
Speaker 7 (01:56:05):
It was this morning. I don't know if there's any
updated information out there, Joe Murray.
Speaker 2 (01:56:09):
So it started at nine and a half, I started
eight and a half, went down to seven and a half.
Speaker 5 (01:56:14):
Now it's back up now. One one said, like, what
did the shop individually ten and a half? But that
may have been like before the start of the season.
Speaker 6 (01:56:21):
Yeah, that's tough because it's not going to match my score. Shoot,
you know what, I'm gonna prace. I think Buffalo is
going to win the.
Speaker 1 (01:56:28):
Game, but eight and a half. I'm going to give
the Patriots some love. I'm going to take the points
for the Pats.
Speaker 6 (01:56:33):
I think they keep it about a touchdown game, but
I still feel like it's, you know, low thirties to mid.
Speaker 1 (01:56:39):
Twenties kind of a game. So say, you know, thirty
one twenty three, twenty four or something like that.
Speaker 9 (01:56:45):
Yeah, my heart says we cover, Buffalo wins Patriots cover.
What did we say on on Monday?
Speaker 7 (01:56:53):
You guys said thirty one twenty four.
Speaker 2 (01:56:56):
I think you pat that.
Speaker 1 (01:56:56):
Yeah you hadn't written down I know.
Speaker 2 (01:56:58):
But I don't have that.
Speaker 5 (01:56:59):
I don't have my note is terrible.
Speaker 9 (01:57:01):
It was Monday. I'm going to do the same, the
same score that Paul seems to remember that I don't.
Speaker 7 (01:57:07):
I'm not saying I'm proud of it. I just remember things.
Speaker 9 (01:57:10):
You should be You should be proud to have a memory.
That's so good.
Speaker 7 (01:57:13):
Still, I wrote down the wrong thing. I'm scratching it up.
Speaker 5 (01:57:17):
Questions have you soccer?
Speaker 9 (01:57:20):
Soccer and car accident?
Speaker 1 (01:57:21):
Oh jeez, yeah, what.
Speaker 2 (01:57:23):
Did you get? Did you do your pick?
Speaker 5 (01:57:26):
The Patriots will go into Buffalo, Yes, and have an
opportunity to establish themselves as an up and coming team
on the rise. Okay, a playoff contender if you will, they.
Speaker 1 (01:57:37):
Will do it.
Speaker 5 (01:57:38):
Oh, they won't compete. I'm not into headlines that say
the Patriots can win even if they lose, which I
saw three different headlines in the clips today. So suggest
the Patriots thirty four Buffalo thirty three. Wow with a
late scoring drive.
Speaker 2 (01:57:54):
Oh lord wow? Okay, I like it.
Speaker 5 (01:57:58):
The Patriots have every opportunity to win this game, and
Fred about one hundred years ago said, if I think
there's a chance, I'm going to pick them. That's what
I'm doing tonight, all right, That's what I'm doing.
Speaker 7 (01:58:07):
I think there's a chance.
Speaker 2 (01:58:08):
I've received a lot of correspondence since last week. Fred,
please guarantee a win for the Patriots. We need you
to guarantee. I can't do that. I'm sorry. It's not
a joke. When I feel it, I give you.
Speaker 5 (01:58:23):
The lock when they're playing the Pithers, So.
Speaker 2 (01:58:26):
I can't honestly give you the lock this week. But
but the Bills are four to ozho, they're not going
seventeen and oh somebody's going to beat them. Why not us?
Let's do it.
Speaker 7 (01:58:39):
I'm sorry. Did I step on you? And I ran
on your parade a little bit?
Speaker 2 (01:58:42):
Sorry? Twenty seven to twenty six Patriots guys. Yeah, it's
going to be an instant classic. It's going to be
a great game, folks. But I'd faded if you're doing
it for real money. We're doing this for entertainment purposes.
Put your money elsewhere. You don't want to have that
type of business watching this game. Just watch it as
(01:59:02):
a fan, not as a gambler. I need someone to
pay this game.
Speaker 9 (01:59:05):
I need someone to take the video of the miracle
locker room speech and just like impose your head on.
Speaker 6 (01:59:10):
Her Brooks right right, okay, real quick, my so my
defensive line, and I don't know what the rules are
because are we talking three minut format fronts.
Speaker 1 (01:59:19):
I'm just going to say I want to do Rushmore.
Speaker 2 (01:59:21):
I already forgot it for all right.
Speaker 6 (01:59:22):
I'm going to say Willie McGuinness, Richard Seymour, Julius Adams,
and Vince Wilfork.
Speaker 5 (01:59:28):
So I got two of them. Okay, so that question
was directed to you. I said Seymour and will Fork,
and then I said, he'll probably come with someone obscure
that I wouldn't necessarily like.
Speaker 2 (01:59:37):
I was looking at the Guinness as an outside linebacker,
but he has played, he played.
Speaker 1 (01:59:42):
The elephant rule.
Speaker 6 (01:59:45):
I kept feeling, no, I'm missing somebody, like, you know,
like we'll force Seymour, Jim.
Speaker 5 (01:59:49):
Lee Hunt Jim, but if you want to count on
an outside I know, but like Tip specifically told me
how much he loved standing up and playing outside line
or its like McGinnis Titan watching just because I mean,
you know short, I mean I thought Julie sadad was
this guy played like sixteen years for the team.
Speaker 6 (02:00:06):
Yeah, he was great, absolute cornerstone to the front foundation.
Speaker 7 (02:00:11):
Yeah, okay, I thought you would say, like Andre Cotter.
Speaker 1 (02:00:14):
All right, you know you don't know me like that.
Speaker 2 (02:00:16):
All right. That's it for this edition of Patriot's Unfiltered.
Don't forget to subscribe to the newsletter patriots dot com
slash PU newsletter coming out with another edition on Friday.

Speaker 5 (02:00:29):

Speaker 2 (02:00:37):
Okay, so seven o'clock Sunday night. Be there for that
and go red Sox. Right, yeah, gotta win.
Speaker 5 (02:00:44):
To the game three tonight.
Speaker 7 (02:00:45):

Speaker 2 (02:00:46):
