Speaker 2 (00:22):
Yeah, what does that mean?
Speaker 3 (00:24):
You can't in gaslighting me with ft chism.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
The whole show. I'm sincere. I'm not guessing. I know
you are the original og Christian.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
That's right.
Speaker 5 (00:33):
I made my bones while Christine was shopping a Lula Levens.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
But he took off inso that Mike and Evan on
the pre and postgame show, and so Mike might not
even be.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Able to talk.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
You're coming in.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Oh yeah, So this is what happens. The whole show
falls apart. They need multiple people to replace me.
Speaker 6 (00:48):
Evan will probably be hilarious in that postgame dynamic.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
He's never done the postgame before. Get the other two
his wedding, and the TV don't did not specify what
the others were.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
I'm going to peel back there a little bit. He
was in a great mood last week because quote it
was one of the three best days of his life
when he went out and saw the statue.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
I think it was the day that he first got
his subscription to pff V from Pittsburgh, says, did Fred
like Frank from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia get diagnosed
with donkey brains when he was younger? Not donkey day.
I have been called an ass.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
You know what?
Speaker 3 (01:19):
I knew Joe Judge was going to fail as the
Giants head coach when when he said that the name
on the front of the jersey, the.
Speaker 6 (01:25):
Name on the back.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Wow, that is profound. This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by
Toyota's official website for deals by a Toyota dot com.
All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
at Gillette Stadium, and I can't say the gangs all here,
but Tis is here, Alex is here, I'm here, Matt's
(01:50):
in the booth, and in about oh i'd say fourteen
minutes or so, Deuce is going to be calling in
from Minneapolis to give us his take on what happened
yesterday and get us ready for what's going to happen
today in the second day of joint practices with the
Patriots and the Vikings. So let's uh we can get
(02:11):
right into that. What else are we going to do today?
I forget it was something else. Oh yeah, yeah, we'll
have Mike Rabel live when he starts up at I
think about twelve forty five or so. He's been pretty prompt.
He's not one of those guys that are late for stuff.
He shows right up when he's supposed to show up.
Speaker 6 (02:30):
Yep for us, Yeah, easier on his birthday today, on
his birthday, fiftieth birthday.
Speaker 7 (02:36):
I didn't realize he was a Leo until last night.
But that's great news for us. Why because just the
personality trait of a Leo, it's very like one. They're
super charismatic and driven, like they can command a room,
really hard working kind of just like I don't know,
(02:56):
you're in a room with a Leo and all the
attention is like usually on.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
So what would be a lewd sign? That would be oh,
that's bad Gemini.
Speaker 6 (03:05):
Gemini, like a lot of serial killers happened to be Geminis.
Want coach, Well, I'd rather him be a Leo. Like
you know who else was a Leo? Is a Leo?
Tom Brady.
Speaker 8 (03:17):
It's just what do you think Rabel's co stars that's today.
Speaker 7 (03:20):
Oh we should read we should get that after the break,
But I don't know. They're loyal, determined, really driven, hardworking.
It's a good It's a good sign for a pro
athlete or a coach.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
All right, well, we're gonna have Deuce to twelve fifteen,
We're gonna have Mike Rabel live at twelve forty five, uh,
and then us for two hours talking about the Patriots
and whatever. But from what we heard today, and you know,
Deuce had his right up on the defense, Evan had
his right up on the offense. I spoke to them,
(03:51):
I spoke to some other people that were at practice.
I think it was, you know, a toss up in
terms of like, okay, who won practice. I think it's
kind of silly to do that, but I think both
both teams, the Vikings and the Patriots. Uh, you know,
had some good and some bad yesterday, which is which
is good. That's the way you want it. You want
(04:13):
to have a lot of competition, you want to be tested.
I think Flores's defense really tested the Patriots. I think
the Patriots offense tested the Vikings defense. So it was
a good day of practice.
Speaker 8 (04:26):
No, it seemed like a lot of haymakers are being
thrown on both sides, which is good because a lot
usually these joint practices are more important than the games
and have a bit more energy. So you like to
hear that.
Speaker 7 (04:35):
Yeah, big plays too happening with the offense. I think
Diggs was a full participant yesterday.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Diggs was a full participant. Trevion Henderson showed out. From
what everyone said, Collins had a big play.
Speaker 8 (04:50):
After you get to get the energy up.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
I love that the Old line had mixed reviews, but
I think from people that I talked to that were there,
they said it was a good day for the Old line,
like they learned as they went. They got better as
the day went. You know. I'm including Campbell and that
of course, but the Old line, you know, had some
wins and losses. When they had seven on seven, eleven
(05:14):
on eleven, I mean one on ones and then seven
on sevens. Then when they got to eleven eleven, they
seem to improve a little bit more. They definitely showed
the same willingness to block for running that they have
throughout the summer. This is going to be a good
run blocking team, I think, so, you know, and that's
going to help the pass game. Yeah, you know, I
(05:35):
despite what Paul says, if the threat of the run
is there and the threat of the run to run
well is there, it puts defenses on their heels. They
have to defend both. And that's a good thing for
May in the passage.
Speaker 7 (05:48):
Game for sure, especially because we do have such a
strong running back group that depending on what personnel they're using,
you you really don't know who's going to come at you.
And Henderson has so much promise, so, like you said,
just it brings every other level.
Speaker 6 (06:04):
Of the game up.
Speaker 8 (06:05):
I mean, Henderson's been playing to the point where the
Vikings beat has been like they got they got something
special there. So I'm really excited to see what he
brings us here.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Remandre did not practice yesterday. Hunter Henry didn't practice, Born
didn't practice, Poke didn't practice. Who else I think other
than that, I think, you.
Speaker 6 (06:24):
Know, yeah, I think Carlton Davis was back.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Yeah, Davis was bad Gonzo obviously he's still not practicing.
Speaker 6 (06:30):
Obarmore I think did not.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Obarmour didn't believe today, right, Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6 (06:35):
So that's I mean, just based on what we read
about practice his so obviously we weren't there to see it.
But a practice out Barmore and Gonzo and the defense
still held up pretty well. You got to feel good
about that.
Speaker 8 (06:46):
We'll hear from do something that too.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Yeah, of course we will. So today will be a
big day. One of the questions I want to ask
Douce is were there any flare ups? You know, even
if there wasn't all out of fight, we would have
heard about it. But even just a little bit of
pushing and shoving, because sometimes those things carry over today too.
So I just want to get a sense of if
there might be any bad blood going into day too
(07:08):
that they have to look out for. So we'll hear
from Deuce on that in a few moments, as well
as Mike Vrabel at twelve forty five. So other than that,
Mike Vrabel's birthday today, we talked about that. He'll be
he's fifty. Leo, you know that's a good thing.
Speaker 8 (07:31):
Jumb year.
Speaker 6 (07:32):
What are you guys?
Speaker 2 (07:33):
I'm cancer?
Speaker 6 (07:34):
Okay, were both cancers?
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (07:37):
You Libra, there you go all about balance.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
It's nonsense, all that zodiac stuff.
Speaker 7 (07:45):
That's not maybe, but I don't know, a lot of
ancient civilizations really put a lot of emphasis into the
stars and.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
What They also put emphasis on human sacrifices. So I mean, like,
you know, what are we doing?
Speaker 1 (07:57):
All right too?
Speaker 6 (07:57):
Chet, I don't really have a comeback for that one.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
We trablism, you know, well, well, listen, I understand like
the moon and the stars and you know the planet,
and we're mostly water, so why wouldn't that affect us?
But you know, when we're born, we're just little things.
Speaker 8 (08:17):
Oh so you're gonna be the mom when your son
comes home and he's like, mom, when was I born?
And you're like, stop talking to her.
Speaker 6 (08:24):
No, I'll support it. It sounds like you have a
really intuitive woman interested in you.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Oh, Deuce is ready.
Speaker 6 (08:32):
It's like, thank god, all right, well.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Let's let's bring Deuce up. Are we gonna see?
Speaker 9 (08:38):
There he is?
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Deuce?
Speaker 10 (08:40):
Hey, fellas, ladies, lady.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Sounds like, first off, let's see is there any delay
in so that we can set up for that? No delay? Okay, okay,
sounds good Deuce. Well, Deuce, let's get right into it.
We read your right up on the defense, evans right
up on the offense. But you know, give us your
(09:04):
synopsis on how the day went yesterday.
Speaker 10 (09:08):
I'll start with the defense.
Speaker 11 (09:09):
Just since that was where I walked in on.
Speaker 10 (09:12):
I thought they had a pretty good day. The Hawkinson,
the tight.
Speaker 11 (09:16):
End, had a few catches, a little bit of an
issue from their commander's practice last week, something to watch.
Maybe they got him on a screen pass as well
that went pretty far, that caught him on a blitz.
Speaker 10 (09:28):
But otherwise I thought the pressure was really good.
Speaker 11 (09:31):
I thought the number of different guys showing up, you know,
even without Gonzo out there, Calton Davis a little bit limited,
some of the younger guys Alex Austin continuing to stand out.
Speaker 10 (09:42):
So it was a good day for the defense.
Speaker 11 (09:44):
I thought, you know, JJ McCarthy, they got a field
goal at the end of the competitive period, so you'd
love to see them be able to close that out.
Speaker 12 (09:52):
They got to a fourth and five send it all
out blitz, so McCarthy got.
Speaker 10 (09:57):
Him on that one little little dump off.
Speaker 11 (10:00):
But otherwise they were good and and offensively back and forth.
Speaker 10 (10:04):
You know, there's definitely pressure.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Well before we get into offense, I want to finish
up on defense. You said that, you know, Patriots were
able to get some pressure. Barmore did not practice yesterday,
is that correct? Correct? So was Chasing notable, you know, uh,
all of them.
Speaker 11 (10:22):
I mean, Chase On, Landry Uhlan Williams was in there
as well, Robert Splain all over.
Speaker 10 (10:29):
The place as usual.
Speaker 11 (10:30):
It was just great to see all those guys showing
up and Chase On even Christian Ellis knifing.
Speaker 10 (10:37):
Through getting some tackles.
Speaker 11 (10:38):
So just a lot of different guys making plays yesterday
and that was what was encouraging.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Okay, so now let's go over to the offense.
Speaker 12 (10:45):
Yeah, so I think as as Evan wrote we talked
about in our wrap up, there was some pressure. Sure,
there was some, but otherwise Drake stood tall, made some
plays downfield.
Speaker 10 (10:56):
You saw Mac Collins schemed open.
Speaker 13 (10:59):
You know, it's just you could tell yesterday I felt
like there was maybe a focus on trying to push
the ball down the field, even in seven on seven,
and that's a big thing that we've been kind of
waiting to see from this offense.
Speaker 12 (11:10):
So I was encouraged by yesterday.
Speaker 10 (11:13):
Well today they're going to go into the red zone.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
I mean with the team with a heavy blitz team
or you know, a heavy pressure team, that's the way
to you know, make them pay is to hit them
with big plays and keep them honest.
Speaker 10 (11:27):
And that's the thing we haven't seen.
Speaker 14 (11:28):
And you know, I know that there's been some concern
with these competitive periods. They've ended a lot of them
and Dake may turnovers that were you know, sputtered out,
so that yesterday, second down they hit Travon Henderson.
Speaker 10 (11:41):
I'm sure you guys saw that that play to finish
it out. So you had to say who won the practice? Yeah,
I say the Patriots. They got a touchdown, they held
the Vikings two three. So I found it to be
an encouraging day. But today it's going to get tougher
in the red zone and I think we'll learn a lot.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Right now, I heard I've talked to somebody who was
there who said that the offensive line tech, you know,
look pretty good and got better as the practice went on.
Would you agree with that?
Speaker 12 (12:06):
I mean, to be honest, for I'd have to go
on what I talked to Evan about because I wasn't
locked in on the offensive line as much as as
he was.
Speaker 10 (12:13):
And that was the general takeaway he had.
Speaker 11 (12:15):
Socially, he thought Will and the young guys were good
in the individual drills, and there were there were issues
with you know, Jonathan Greener is.
Speaker 10 (12:22):
Really good player.
Speaker 11 (12:23):
So given what I was expecting, I thought Patriots might
have a real tough time.
Speaker 10 (12:29):
But I thought that they hold up pretty well. Banking's
made some place, but the Patriots got their punches into.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Where is Evan?
Speaker 10 (12:37):
Oh, he's down, He's down yonder.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
Somewhere, so he can do clinics and everybody else, but
he can't do this.
Speaker 11 (12:44):
I just thought to be too hard with, you know,
passing my earphones back and forth, and I'm next time, I'll.
Speaker 12 (12:49):
Bring my little mini mic my, my little mini mic
stand so I don't have to hold it here.
Speaker 6 (12:52):
I was gonna say, you should have borrowed Mike Greece's
tripod or something.
Speaker 11 (12:56):
I should have brought it. You can see the great
facility though. Everyone's really nic I've never been to Minnesota before.
People are very friendly here, just everywhere you walk in,
welcome back, great to see you, Like, are you sure?
Speaker 10 (13:07):
So?
Speaker 2 (13:08):
Speaking of the facility, did you guys were able to
take a tour or did you get inside of it?
Speaker 15 (13:13):
Like?
Speaker 2 (13:13):
What does it look like? Really?
Speaker 14 (13:14):
No?
Speaker 12 (13:14):
I think I think some of the outside media did
actually take a tour of it earlier.
Speaker 10 (13:18):
We were not part of that.
Speaker 11 (13:20):
So we've only really seen the fields, but they have
a really nice indoor field where they did the special
Olympics thing yesterday with Drake.
Speaker 10 (13:28):
That's a really nice spot.
Speaker 12 (13:28):
And then they have four fields here in back of me,
so it's a it's a good spot.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
It looks pretty overcast and windy. Is that is that?
Is that a fact?
Speaker 8 (13:37):
That is?
Speaker 10 (13:38):
I think it'll be nice, nice today, better than yesterday.
Speaker 11 (13:40):
It wasn't quite as hot as it's been at our
training camp, so I'm looking forward to a little windy
and cloudy, no no sun beating down on us.
Speaker 10 (13:46):
Hopefully it makes for some good football.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Okay, so you're saying that, do you look for You
think there's gonna be a lot of red zone work today?
Speaker 12 (13:53):
Yeah, that's what Vrabel said yesterday, and yeah, a lot
of competitive periods.
Speaker 10 (13:57):
So I'm excited. I'll be focusing on a d again
for you guys.
Speaker 8 (14:01):
Don't worry.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
How have the eats been? Where have you been eating?
Speaker 16 (14:05):
Oh?
Speaker 10 (14:05):
It's pretty low key.
Speaker 11 (14:06):
We did, you know, we did a team dinner both
last night, so we all kind of went out, so
nothing too crazy. I mean, we did have Jersey Mike's
shout out to you know, our guys here who went and.
Speaker 10 (14:16):
Got jersey mikes for us.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
That was huge.
Speaker 11 (14:18):
But otherwise just grabbing food at the hotel walking over here,
and uh, you know, I think I'm gonna go out
with a friend tonight, so maybe i'll see, maybe I'll
get to try one of these burgers.
Speaker 10 (14:26):
If you hear about these burgers, there's like cheese in
the middle. I forget Louis or something like that, gooey louis,
something like. People are telling me that's what you need
to get special burger here.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
I have had the cheese curds and they're they're really good.
Speaker 10 (14:38):
I've had some cheese curds. We have had the curds.
Speaker 6 (14:41):
We are speculating. We're speculating, Matt. Uh, we're speculating that
that's why Evan wasn't here with you, because he maybe
tried a cheese curd trauma.
Speaker 11 (14:51):
No, No, he runs the other way when he sees
the cheese.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
All right, Well, we'll let you get prepared for practice.
Practice starts at one o'clock our time, noon your time.
Speaker 11 (15:04):
Yeah, you have two hour session and yeah, we get
ready to get a strong finish and set the stage
for Saturday.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
All right, Well, and then you'll be coming back to
get ready for the post the pre and postgame show
on Saturday. Evan will be coming back to with you.
He'll be debuting his first pre and postgame show. Uh
so not only Evan Matis is already here, but so
(15:35):
that'll be fun on on Saturday. So I have a
good practice today and our past will be crossing tomorrow.
I'll be coming in when you're going out. So all right,
thanks du All right do signing off from Minnesota. Yeah
it does look a little overcast there.
Speaker 8 (15:53):
Yeah, yeah, keep it, keep it clean. I was excited
to hear that seemed like the patch were pushing the
ball down the field though, because you see a lot
of these screen passes and you can only get so
much in training campus they're not really hitting. But good
to see the deep ball come back.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Well, you know, when when a team's putting that type
of pressure on you, you got to go over the
top sometimes and just you know, keep them honest.
Speaker 7 (16:13):
If Evan were here too, I would be curious about
the pressure, like, are is our O line just totally
getting manhandled or did it look like more scheme?
Speaker 6 (16:22):
And then they started to figure it out as they Oh.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
I think that's exactly what was happening. You know, like
I said, from somebody who was there who I talked to,
they said, technically, you know, like you know what they
were doing with their hands and their feet and getting
you know, it looked good. It was just there was
a lot of stuff that we saw on that one
play the other night in the in the actual preseason game,
(16:45):
where you know, communication needs to be just Yeah, and
you've got two rookies on the left side and a
center who is you know, new to everything we're doing here,
so you're gonna you know, now's the time to start
doing that.
Speaker 8 (17:02):
No, agree, And also even the big play with Diggs,
the one that's going viral, like look key, that was
a sack, like Drake rolls out but he still got
the pass off. But you just want to see the
progression and that's what these practices are for.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Yeah, and you wouldn't call it in the game the
way you're calling it. You know, like if you decided
you're going to do something, you're going to continue doing
it even if it looks like you know they're getting
some pressure. You know, you're gonna work on what you're
going to work on. But like I said everybody I've
talked to, I've tried to even it out, and I
(17:34):
think it was a good practice for both teams. You know,
they got a lot done and to that point, depending
on what they get done today, if they accomplish the mission,
we may not see a lot of starters on Saturday.
Speaker 8 (17:50):
I'm okay with you know, I like to see the
starters maybe get one drive, but I'm fine with them
not playing if these are your guys.
Speaker 7 (17:57):
Yeah, I think there's just so much competition on the
team right now that that's the stuff you got to focus.
Speaker 6 (18:02):
On sorting out now. I think at this point, what
we're three.
Speaker 7 (18:05):
Weeks into this, the guys are in shape, the guys
are back in that routine of coming to practice and
working out every day, and at this point, just see
how the roster shakes out, yep.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
And then it'll be a quick turnaround. So you got
the game on Saturday, next game or preseason I hate
calling them games. But the next thing will be against
the Giants on Thursdays, so that's a quick turnaround.
Speaker 8 (18:30):
You got to think none of the starters are playing
in that ye.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Travel day on Wednesday, so they'll get here late on
Saturday night, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and then they're on the
road again on Wednesday.
Speaker 6 (18:42):
Fortunately short trip just to New York yep, yep.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Then it's the real thing, New Jersey, and then it's
the real thing. Then a little bit of a break,
kind of a mini buy, and then you've got the
real thing against the Raiders.
Speaker 7 (18:53):
So that week between that last preseason game and Week
one always feels so weird because I feel like any
camp stops, starts and we're going NonStop, and then it's like, oh, wait,
we haven't mad.
Speaker 8 (19:04):
But there used to be the game, right there used
to be a game, Labor day weekend. There used to
be four preseason.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Years ago there was a labor day, but they stopped
doing that. No, it was longer than that. I think
I was here for one really preseason. Maybe maybe I
thought it was longer than four years ago.
Speaker 8 (19:21):
All starting to blend together.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
Yeah, yeah, well, I think I think what you might
be thinking about is there used to be the four
preseason games weren't too long ago, and so that would
extend the preseason a little bit, so it didn't seem
as long between the last one. Yeah, So anyway, yeah,
(19:44):
it won't be long before there's only two preason games.
Speaker 8 (19:46):
Yeah, I mean checks out. The first one is great because,
like you do need your quarterback to like kind of
actually feel the pressure, have like the real reps. The
second one you're in this situation where if they practiced well.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
Today, they might not go in.
Speaker 8 (19:58):
And then the third one ye doing so.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
A lot of people ask, you know, why aren't you
streaming the joint practice live? Why? Why not? And believe me,
if we could, we would, And I asked somebody in
the know, like, why doesn't the league mandate that all
teams that have joint practices have to stream it live?
It would be just good for the fans. It's actually
better content than the preseason games. And the reason why
(20:24):
it's a competition and fairness issue. Right now, not every
team is doing a joint practice, which crazy. Yeah, so
some teams would be having to stream it, while other
teams you know, don't have to stream their practice because
you know, leave left to the coaches. They don't want
to stream. They think it makes it too easy for
other teams to scout you if you're streaming the practice.
(20:47):
But I think with the joints, I think it'll come
point when it gets down to two preseason games for everybody,
joint practices will kind of be a must, and I
think at that point the league will tell teams, yeah,
you've got to stream these out, you know. So are
there any teams that don't do joint practices? Oh yeah,
not every team this year had joint practice.
Speaker 6 (21:06):
Well, it's gotten so chippy in recent years. Well, the
Panthers were here and we had so many fights. I know,
we we'll so hanceled it.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
It's that, but it's also just logistics. Teams just they
just can't work it out or you know, you have
to have a good relationship with a team to have
a joint practice. You know, the two coaches need to
work know each other kind of and trust each other,
and you know, sometimes it just doesn't work for all teams.
Speaker 8 (21:32):
Yeah, they can't be in your division or conference.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Right right, Well, you wouldn't have a preason game against
them anyway. That's pretty rare.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
You know.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
We've had preseasons where we've had a preseason game against
a team that we played in the regular season. That's
happened a few times. But you never have a game
against a FC East. Yeah. No, that's what I'm saying
you never do that, but we do giants this here twice.
Oh yeah, we've always done the giants.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
So but I think, like I said, I think there
will come a day where these joint practices are teams
are told by the league you have to stream them
out or.
Speaker 6 (22:12):
We'll probably be starting in early July.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
You know, I could I could see like structuring it
so that okay, the real important stuff you don't have
to stream it live. But maybe there's a section at
the end where it's just kind of a mini game
where you have to stream that out.
Speaker 7 (22:31):
But then at that point does it even become useful
and as productive as it could be to have the
joint practice if you don't really want to, if you're
worried about what you're showing on film.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
Well, well, I hear what you're saying. But again, like
part of the joint practice, besides like getting complex and
with your schemes and everything, is just seeing the matchups,
having your guys match up against their best guys and
see how they do. So it's not always like you know,
working out all the kinks in your playbook. But like
(23:03):
I laugh at it, you know, because the argument against
selling tickets for training camp practices. Is like, oh, once
you start selling tickets, teams will be able to scout.
You like, their scout would be able to buy a
ticket and be able to come to the practice. What's
stopping them now? Yeah, like I.
Speaker 6 (23:22):
Know, like it's three now, an it's easier.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
Yeah, Like ethically, you know, you can't do it if
it's free, but you could. Why Like just some guy
brings his kid and but he works for the Seahawks
or whatever, and he's the area of scout and he's
but he.
Speaker 6 (23:39):
Has his four year old with him, so he's like undercover.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Yeah, but I was just.
Speaker 8 (23:42):
Like, just have closed practices, mandate joint practices, and make
one of them closed.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (23:48):
Well, it's like they try to tell fans to like
no recording, it's going to happen, and it's so hard
to enforce because everyone out there has a camp, but
even the kids have iPhones.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Like some guy that kind of works for the team,
he's nondescript. People don't know him. He's not in the media. Guy,
you don't know his face. He's just sitting there taking
notes on his phone. How do you help? How do
you know what he's doing? He could be texting a friend.
You don't have to be videotaping. This guy knows what
he's looking at.
Speaker 15 (24:15):
Me.
Speaker 7 (24:16):
You have fans out there tweeting practice reports just from
being joint practices.
Speaker 6 (24:21):
I was like, who is this?
Speaker 7 (24:22):
Is this like a reporter I'm not familiar with on
the beat, and like, no, it's a random fan.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
But what I think they're really looking at is like
who's lining up where? You know, average fans aren't doing that,
but a guy can be taking notes. I'm sure it's.
Speaker 6 (24:36):
Happening, lineups, looking at like little tendencies, snap stuff motions.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
Yeah, I'm sure that it's happening now, you know, too
easy to note, Like it's free, you know. I guess
if you're not doing it as a team, then you
probably should be, you know that.
Speaker 8 (24:53):
Yeah, they just go to DraftKings, get some tends and
write down our schemes.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
I don't know. Maybe there's a ru is a written
rule and if you did get caught doing that, then
it would be a major fine. I don't know. I
don't know.
Speaker 7 (25:06):
Well, even if just a rumor of it got into
the media for a team and be just are cheating
scandals and it would just get ran with.
Speaker 8 (25:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
I mean once the season starts, advanced scouts watch all
our games anyway, you know, don't you think you get
more out of that than a random practice. I don't know.
Sometimes they think we overthink it. But bottom line is
the day will come when you will be able to
watch these joint practices in full. I think, just like
I was right about the seventy yard field goal mostly right,
(25:41):
do you think it's gonna happen in season? What seventy yard?
Like officially in season? Because he said this one didn't come. Oh,
eventually it will. I don't know about this season, but
in the near future it absolutely will. You know, maybe
might be the first. Now, the situation has to be right,
because you know, you're a team and you have a
seven yard field goal, Like if you said.
Speaker 8 (26:00):
You're gonna give the other team Cowboys tried last year.
It was like second quarter expiring and.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
He was cleol. Yeah, I think the situation has to
be right. I think they're gonna weigh the downside, like
you don't want to give the other team such good
field position. But like you said, yeah, the last play of.
Speaker 7 (26:16):
A time is inspiring in the half and it's like Okay,
we could try a hail Mary or just rip it,
you know.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Absolutely, so it'll happen in the regular season. All right,
let's go to the hotline as we wait for Mike Rabel.
He's going to be coming up in about ten, about
fifteen minutes, nineteen twenty fifteen, twenty minutes. So let's go
to the phones eight five to five, pats five hundred.
We'll start with Nate and Connecticut. What's up, Nate?
Speaker 15 (26:45):
Guy?
Speaker 2 (26:45):
It good? How are you good?
Speaker 15 (26:48):
Doing good? So I'll try and keep this quick, but
I just had two quick questions. So first off, it's
about Matt Collins. What do you think his role is
going to be for you gonna need that big acts,
go them down? Or is he just gonna, you know,
keep it relatively short, uh, sort of like a slot maybe.
(27:10):
And my second question is about Kyle Dugger. Do you
have any idea on what's happening to him? Says I guess, Uh,
he got died from Moods to the second team, I heard,
or he just hasn't been performing as well in practice,
and I don't I don't like that. We need we
need the real Kyle Dugger to come back. But thanks guy.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
All right, Well, that's the thing is who is the
real Kyle Dugger? You know two years ago or last year. Now,
last year he was banged up, but I think in
this defense, I think he might be redundant to Peppers,
you know. So they're they're looking to see who can
be more of that free safety rather than having two
strong safeties. And you know, Pepper's right now, I think
(27:52):
is playing better than Doug Er. So he's the first
man up, I mean, the you know, the starter there,
and then I'm thinking they're trying to figure out who,
you know, among the other guys can be more the
free safety. So I think right now it's it's just
a different style of how they want to handle the
safety position.
Speaker 7 (28:09):
It's interesting too, because I know when Rabel first signed on,
we were talking like, Okay, we have all these guys
we just re upped on contracts that are mainstays on
this defense, but where are they going to fit into
the scheme like Tavai and some of the Jennings. Is
when we bring up all the time, But I don't
think Dugger was a name we were really speculating on.
(28:31):
When the news broke that Vrabel was coming in and
bringing this new defensive scheme. So to see it play
out like this and training camp is kind of interesting
because it's like, Okay, his last like really good year
I think was with Bill Yeah, and also was it
mccordy still here at that point, So last year was
banged up, so it's hard to even see what he
(28:52):
would have been if he were playing healthy.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
But but when you think of Douger two years ago,
his best plays were close to the line.
Speaker 6 (28:59):
Yeah, right, And that's how you, like you said.
Speaker 8 (29:02):
Tip drills, just kind of being there in being in
the right moment at the right time. So you got
to wonder. The contracts definitely a big thing too. We
just re upped him, so maybe he's he could be
a trade piece. Who knows it could be.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
But I think if he was really good, they'd be
playing them. But I think I think, like I said,
I think Peppers is playing better than him. And I
think with Woodson and these other guys, and they want
to see, you know, who can be a more free safety.
Speaker 8 (29:28):
Yeah, I think Woodson can too. He has some opportunities
coming up.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Like I'm not an expert on defense like Deuce might be.
But if Carl if Davis and Gonzo are healthy. You
do expect them to be playing a lot of man
you know, So these safeties are going to have to
hold their own when it comes time to pass, you know.
And so you don't want to guys and Peppers and
(29:55):
Douggar who might be a little weaker against the pass.
Speaker 8 (29:59):
Yeah, no, so yeah, you want to see him bounce back,
but I don't know.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
Sure, Yeah, absolutely, Let's go to Todd, North Carolina. What's
up Todd?
Speaker 17 (30:12):
Hey, guys, I just got two quick points.
Speaker 16 (30:15):
First, Evan tells us that he's a team guy and
you can have tough questions, especially when he was asking
Drake something and to lost something out there and he went,
he's with CNLS. He seemed to be much more vocal
and much more able to discuss what's going on. And
they seem to be doing something, you know, they seem
to be coming around and running you guys for the
coverage of the training camp. So they're doing a great job.
(30:38):
And so what do you think about that? And my
other quick question is how do your family's bend or
significant others deal with you guys being so busy all
the time, Like you guys are always doing something. There's
always reports coming up, there's always something. I have no
idea how you guys are managed to get such, you know,
wonderfully understanding family yourself. I'd like to know about that.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Yeah, I mean some some families aren't that understanding, and
it's tough, the like in the NFL, in all sports.
I'm not sure, but I would venture to guess the
divorce rate might be a little higher than I'm sure
other places.
Speaker 8 (31:16):
I have the florist on speed dial.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
But it's tough. You have to have an understanding significant
other divorce, and I think the best, the most healthy
thing is when the significant other has their own thing
going on, you know, so that they're not just home waiting,
that they're busy too, whether it's with kids or with
(31:40):
their own profession. So I think that's the healthiest thing.
But yeah, it's tough. It's very tough.
Speaker 6 (31:46):
So you basically said, just don't date a scrub. They
have that stuff going on brunch on Sunday.
Speaker 8 (31:53):
Luckily I go for works on Sunday, so I get
the game day free.
Speaker 6 (31:55):
I think it's harder in my twenties when like birthdays,
peel are going out. People are having fun now it's.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Just but his first part of the question about asking
tough questions, Yeah, we're not in the business of doing that.
We're not the ones that are going to be causing
trouble or looking for the Gutcha or anything like that.
That's just not what we're going to do as part
of the team. If something comes up, we'll talk about it,
(32:23):
just you know, like last year with whether it was
Pepper's or whatever. You know, like we're not going to
like avoid things, but we're not going to be the ones,
you know, digging for the dirty and breaking the news.
Like if Cils does that, more power to him.
Speaker 6 (32:37):
It's not got your journalism here, No, you know, Evan.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
Evan has learned like the certain questions that he should
and shouldn't ask, you know, like uh, sometimes like he
wants to be revealing. He wants to take the top
off of the scheme and like show everything, and he
wants to mansplaining. He's the one you can't send the
training camp for the ode exactly like he does it
(33:05):
so well. He does it so well that it's like
what are you doing?
Speaker 6 (33:09):
I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
He is, and you know, like I'm okay telling people
like I've read some of his stuff where he's using
actual uh you know, lexicon or you know vertarions that
the team actually uses, Like we can't do that. Like
great that you know it. I don't know how you
know it. I don't know who told you. But that's
(33:34):
not stuff that we should be writing about, you know,
because that's like giving away our playbook. You can't do that.
Speaker 7 (33:41):
Imagine if it ever came out, like in a post
game huddle where the opposing locker room was like, oh, yeah,
what do you see on this play and they're like, yeah,
you know their beat writer, Evan Lazar.
Speaker 6 (33:53):
That he was he's been writing that. They have been
working on this scheme, so we just we knew it
was coming because we recognize it.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
Yeah, like, you know, good for him that somebody or
somehow he's learning that. But you keep that to yourself.
You know, we can't be doing opposing teams favors. Let's
go to Patty and agawam, what's up? Patty's going on?
Speaker 15 (34:20):
Everyone?
Speaker 5 (34:24):
So I want to get your guys thoughts on this.
There's only one thing that kind of disappointed me about
this week, joints practice with the Viking. You know, when
I thought on the schedule. It was really amped up
to see how Christian Is Dallas would match up against
Justin Jefferson, just to get like a good listen, test
I kind of where he is. And since we can't
(34:44):
see that, I mean, I know we're gonna be going
up against some good receivers this year, but to me,
like he's arguably the best. You know, put him, put Chase,
put a J. Brown in any order you want.
Speaker 17 (34:55):
But that's that's about it. That's the only thing I'm
disappointed about.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
Get on that and I'll take it out there, all right,
Thanks Patty. Did did Jefferson practice? I don't think he practiced.
We didn't hear his name.
Speaker 8 (35:08):
No, I think he's doing the like okay, like I
had my first couple of weeks some fit.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Let's get to week one. I wonder if Gonzo was practicing,
if they would have put in Jeffers a little bit
of to have that. But when once we told him
that Gonzo wasn't practicing, maybe they said, okay. But I
don't think Jefferson even played last week. Like, I don't know.
I think his schedule is a bit different. Yeah, because
I saw the preseason game he was on the sideline
wired up.
Speaker 8 (35:33):
Yeah, I really think it's like he practices against his
own guys and then like see a week one.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
Well that makes sense.
Speaker 6 (35:40):
Yeah, I mean these star receives you want, you know.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
You know, so we're not missing anything because Jefferson's not
even out.
Speaker 8 (35:47):
There, Saul, it would be pretty sick. But also that's
another good test for your younger guys, So yeah, that's true.
I want you want your guys to go up against
the best guys, so I see where Patty's coming.
Speaker 7 (35:57):
It is disappointing though, because like even just watching Digs
versus Gonzo in practice, even with Diggs limited to like
most of the summer, it was just so fun to watch,
like even just them on one on one Digs running
routes against Gonzo.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
It just shows level to it. Yeah, yep, let's go
to Jose, who's calling from Texas? What's up, Jose?
Speaker 17 (36:23):
And how's it going?
Speaker 6 (36:25):
How are you?
Speaker 18 (36:28):
Yesterday I caught one of his shows. He seemed like
he was in development when he was talking about baseball, right,
maybe you should give him myself for baseball then he'll
be more happy.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
So you said, he sounded really good when he was
talking like about baseball. Yeah, he dound into like, well you, Jose,
you do know that he's in the BU Baseball Hall
of Fame. Yeah, so no, I told Paul like I
always told him, like, and thanks for the call, Jose.
(37:03):
You know, you need to let these people know that
you know as much about the other sports as you
do football. And he probably knows more about baseball than
he does football.
Speaker 6 (37:11):
Imagine in another life if Paul was covering the Red
Sox for a lifetime.
Speaker 8 (37:16):
Oh too many games, yeah.
Speaker 6 (37:18):
Waits too many games for him. But what would he
be like? Would he have the same like kind of snarky.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
Persone worse worse? Oh yeah, much worse. I mean he
played high school football quarterback for you know, a good
high school.
Speaker 8 (37:33):
Yeah and ever.
Speaker 6 (37:34):
But so imagine Paul with the ego of a Division
one Baseball Hall of famer.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
Be insufferable, sufferable.
Speaker 6 (37:42):
I paid to Zer for a week.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
Yeah, the Red and the Red Sox. Get him off
the beat whatever, you know, whoever the Globe will pay
you not to use him. Yeah all right, lots of
emails coming in as we wait for Rabel, who's coming
up in about ten minutes or so. Let's see, this
(38:05):
is from Julian, who's from Germany, worries me a little
how much Rabel wants his former players, especially on defense,
to He says, I don't know what this means, but anyway,
he seems desperately trying to replace everybody who's not one
of his guys. Dugger as the most recent example, his
(38:29):
defense ranked sixteenth during his time as the head coach
of the Titans, So just average per pff. Do you
feel like he is trying to implement a system that
was just average a bit too much?
Speaker 8 (38:41):
I mean, I feel like when a new coach comes in,
they're supposed to implement their system, and he had to
get rid of a whole get rid of my UMPI
they replace a whole culture of like decades of stuff
with guys, and he's doing that, and by doing that,
you bring in your own guys. And Harold Landry Splaine like.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
Yeah, no, it's a different system than what they had,
you know, it's more of an aggressive upfront system. I
think you're going to see a lot more consistent four
man fronts than you had before. You're gonna see more
pressure up the middle, hopefully between Milton Williams. You don't
bring in Milton Williams. Just have him eat space. You know,
he and Barmore should be a formidable pair to get pressure.
(39:21):
That's different. We haven't seen that in a long time
at this place. We really have it.
Speaker 6 (39:26):
They're gonna eat now.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
The question is how good are they going to be
against the run? You know, it is Tonga going to
be in there that you know at times, uh, you know,
goal line or short short yardage. Oh well, let's go
to Mike Vrabel. He's ready to go. He's early.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
There's one answer. It's carrot cake.
Speaker 8 (39:46):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
There's one. There's one answer. There's no him and a harm.
Speaker 16 (39:51):
No.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
But that's the only one that I'll eat on my birthday.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Do you feel at fifty.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
Men, I would say physically do yeah, come on.
Speaker 6 (40:04):
Happy milestone.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
Thank you.
Speaker 6 (40:07):
Just your general impressions of yesterday, how that, how that went,
and what we're opening seeing today.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
These practices are like a game. We've we've said that,
you know, there's ups and downs. We hit some plays,
they hit some plays. You know, there's an intermission and
again there's a break with special teams, and then you
you know, usually a two minute situation at the end.
So you know, we're able to make a play at
the two minute situation, and you know, kind of the
(40:35):
same thing. Defensively, they hit some plays, we were able
to have some good plays and again just looking for
some consistency. And I think what they do defensively is
great challenge for us, you know, to come up here
without any real practice or any look and be able
to you know, have some good plays and again some
(40:55):
plays that you know, we have to improve on. But
I think it's a good started fly.
Speaker 8 (41:01):
Is that the offensive fly to audience?
Speaker 1 (41:04):
Yeah, it's for everybody, right, It's for the quarterback to
be able to communicate and get us in the right protection.
Communicate and and go from there and but execute right.
And I think the big thing is, you know, once
you communicate, we have to execute and the fundamentals and
you know, make corrections quickly and go from there. I
don't think yesterday I thought he did well. I thought
(41:25):
he you know, it's easy to go into blender, uh
when you're when you're seeing a bunch of this stuff
and and kind of scrambling and turning one you know,
less than favorable play into a you know, a real
ship storm. So I didn't see that. I thought he
was able to process and we didn't execute all the time,
but I didn't see any panic from him. I thought
(41:47):
he was able to communicate and get the things that
he wanted, uh, and then hit some plays because of it.
You know, when we blocked him, we were able to
make some plays. And then we'll just have to try
to see what happens today and continue to go from there.
Speaker 10 (42:01):
It's a talented player.
Speaker 2 (42:02):
How did how did Will Campbell do yesterday in that matchup?
Speaker 1 (42:04):
Had some good plays and had some plays where he
got beat inside and these are going to happen to
young offensive linemen. So you know, we're not gonna sit
and evaluate every every practice. I'll let you guys do that,
and you know we'll go from there and let's keep
trying to improve. Saw Darrow Williams upstairs during the preseason
open What led to that decision? Do you see him
(42:25):
being upstairs or downstairs? There's a lot of positives to
being upstairs, to being able to see things and being
able to call the game from there, you know, just
trying to get a gauge on what's best. And you know,
some some coaches, you know, play callers like to do
it from the field. Some really like it from up upstairs,
and so Terrell is gonna probably stay upstairs this week
(42:48):
and see how that goes, and you know, continue to work.
And again that was a good operation that we were
able to go against with Washington and the no huddle stuff.
And you know, that was a good, good first test
in preseason. The rain's gonna bail me out. You got
no more questions.
Speaker 2 (43:05):
You talking about tracts from the inside out in the
past with Will in particular, is that like a repeat
thing you've seen from them, you.
Speaker 1 (43:13):
Know, the well, it's come up with all of them.
I don't think that that's just you know, to signal
him out. We have to be firm in the middle,
and we have to stay inside out and the quarterback
has to transfer up into the pocket. So those are
all things that have to go hand in hand. We've
talked about it's hard to block edge rushers if you know,
you give them a three way go, which is inside,
(43:33):
over the top of you, or around the edge, and
then we have to force them around the edge, and
the quarterback has to transfer up into the pocket, and
in order to do that, you have to be firm
in the middle of pocket. So all those things have
to come together. Uh, and when they do, uh, it
looks pretty good. And then when there's breakdowns in those
or or we're not helping the guy next to us
and in pass rush games, or you know, we don't
(43:55):
we don't get open fast enough. You know, there's one
thing after another.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
Like Jalen Hawkins, Craig Woodson, what has he shown you
at the safety position?
Speaker 1 (44:06):
He keeps I think getting better. I think he keeps
learning each day some of the different techniques that maybe
he didn't you know, use as much in in in cal.
Speaker 16 (44:17):
I.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
I've seen him tackle. I think the special team stuff
was good. I thrown himself uh in there into the
fire on on. Some of the special team stuff was
good to see. So uh, continue to to see where
he's at just from his physicality and you know, kind
of go from there.
Speaker 3 (44:32):
Mike, what you liked about your red zone offense to
date this summer and besides touchdowns, what are you hoping
to see from that today?
Speaker 16 (44:40):
Ah?
Speaker 1 (44:41):
I I just know and you know, no, let's say
unforced airs going backwards in the red zone. If you
have a play where there's a penalty or you lose yardage,
the percentage that ends in a in a touchdown, UH
really decreases, uh drastically, So we have to ev every
yard matters down there. At three yard gain is a
still a positive play, and you know we have to
(45:03):
be able to do that and get the ball out quickly.
There has to be some precision to what you're doing
in the red zone. That's the timing is is quicker
and in the windows are much tighter.
Speaker 10 (45:14):
That's yesterday about Oh, he's not sure about his readiness
for week one?
Speaker 1 (45:20):
Did you really believe that?
Speaker 2 (45:21):
Phil?
Speaker 1 (45:21):
I mean you, you're a smart guy. I don't know
where he went to school. It wasn't Ohio State, But like,
do you really believe that? Do you really believe that? Pill?
Are you just trying to bait me into something? I'm
not beating you.
Speaker 19 (45:31):
Okay, he did say he wasn't sure he'd be ready
for week one to thirty doubt in your mind.
Speaker 1 (45:34):
I don't know the context in which he said it,
but you'd have to help me. I mean, he's been
out here almost every day. I'm excited to where he's
at and we'll see when week one comes. But he's
gonna practice today. Hopefully he helps us in the red zone.
But we can't make you know, predict the future about
week one. I just know he's gonna be out there today,
(45:55):
and he works hard and you know he cares, which
are two important things.
Speaker 20 (46:00):
Mike, speaking of the context and stuff, Clog Downing had
a quote about stuff the other day. I'm wondering you
can get out some context. So the big thing with
him is.
Speaker 1 (46:08):
I'll do my best. I'll try to let Todd speak
for himself, but I'll try to help you the best
I can get it.
Speaker 20 (46:12):
But you got the big thing with him is understanding
that you can't confuse results with the process. So if
there's a day he doesn't have a whole bunch of production,
that doesn't mean he didn't do his job and get open.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
Sounds like that has been an issue with them.
Speaker 1 (46:27):
I don't think that it has. I thought that. You know, again,
there's days where the ball doesn't find you. There's one football,
there's five eligible receivers. The quarterback decides where he wants
to go with the ball. No different than Kyle Williams.
Kyle Williams is working extremely hard. You know, ball hasn't
really found him. He's been open. There's been separation you know,
(46:51):
I'm not sure which day Todd said that, but the
other day in the red zone, I thought that, you know,
Stephan factored and looked good and keep getting better. So
I don't think that that's gonna be always the case,
right as far as there's a you know, Terrell mentioned this.
Terrell Williams said this one time, when you know you can,
(47:15):
you can make the play without making a tackle, right,
And and that was something that you have to teach
defensive linemen is when they start trying to make a
bunch of tackles, maybe maybe they start hurting some of
the people behind them and the fits and everything else
because they're trying to make a tackle. Where there's ways
to do their job and really contribute to the defense
(47:36):
without ever getting a stat And those plays will come.
Just make the ones that that you're supposed to make.
And I really equate that to really every position. But
you know, you asked about receiver, and then again, everybody
wants to catch the ball and everybody's to score touchdowns
and those will come, and that will happen. And maybe
on that particular day in which Todd said that, you know,
(47:56):
there wasn't a ton of production from that practice that
I'm not really sure and he said that, but there's
other ways to be successful and and do your job
and help us win. That's the most important thing with guys.
Speaker 2 (48:07):
Final questions, do you view them as competing for the
number two job and you.
Speaker 10 (48:12):
Kind of view their spots because ones are better and
one who work that they're kind of story.
Speaker 1 (48:17):
Yeah, I mean I think Josh is the the the
backup right now. Uh, not that that couldn't change. You know,
Ben's working hard and you know, we'll see you again,
and we're always trying to strengthen the roster each and
every day, and uh, but Josh is in there. Josh
just has to be more consistent. You know, had a
unfortunate you know interception, you know in two minute drill
(48:38):
and throwing it in the robber, and you know, ball
placement has to be better and just the the timing
and all these things that that we work on. So
he's getting the same looks that that Drake's getting and
it's it's not easy, but that's not an excuse. I'm
not usually as an excuse, just saying, you know, we
have to take care of football.
Speaker 2 (48:55):
With the reading.
Speaker 1 (48:55):
Is the last question. I looked at potentially the safety
kind of like Marte mop who just to get a
more opportunity to get on the field, you should move
them to safety. Yeah, I mean we would consider anything
to try to help the football team and help the player.
That's everything we want to try to do is help
every player earn a role and build a football team.
Speaker 2 (49:18):
Thank you.

And now great moments in.
Speaker 2 (51:08):
History. I'm really embarrassed about this. It's an embarrassing moment,
very embarrassing. So I'm that's a funny story. I'm at
the party with my wife and this is before everybody
got their ring, so it's still early. People are still arriving,
and I'm standing kind of in a middle area where,
you know, as people go by him taught Jonathan Kraft
and people we work with, and Tom comes in with Giselle.
(51:31):
That would be Tom Brady. Tom Brady, well with Giselle
kind of is the giveaway. But anyway, so I said, hey, Tom,
how you doing? And I stuck my hand out for
a handshake and he came.
Speaker 11 (51:42):
In for the hug.
Speaker 10 (51:43):
He came in hot, hot, wow, so.
Speaker 2 (51:47):
Hot that I kissed him on the cheek.
Speaker 22 (51:51):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (51:53):
So he went in for the hug and Fred did
the Castandra inappropriate the moment I did it, and.
Speaker 2 (51:58):
I'm like, oh what did I.
Speaker 22 (52:01):
Did he react to it?
Speaker 2 (52:03):
He's so tall? I don't know.
Speaker 8 (52:04):
That's another great moment.
Speaker 2 (52:09):
All right back here and Patriots Unfiltered, a little blast
from the past there.
Speaker 6 (52:13):
You're a European of you.
Speaker 2 (52:15):
Yeah, I don't know. I lost my mind. I really
was that. It was after one of the Super was
Super Bowl party? Yeah?
Speaker 8 (52:23):
Only place is acceptable?
Speaker 2 (52:25):
Yeah, I guess, but I just I just lost my
What was it like? The cheek? Yeah, it was soft.
I don't remember. It's all a blur right now, Like
I said, I lost my head just anyway, kiss to Yeah,
all right, so that was Mike Rabel, he says a lot. Yeah, yeah,
(52:49):
he's not one to hold back.
Speaker 7 (52:50):
No.
Speaker 6 (52:51):
I love the lack of coach speak.
Speaker 8 (52:52):
Yeah, yeah, then it'll come out.
Speaker 6 (52:55):
Like when he was asked about Dugger, the coach speak
kind of came out.
Speaker 2 (52:58):
Yeah. I thought, you know, there were you know, some
good stuff. But I thought, to me, Woldridge is making
a push to be the backup from what That's the
sense that I got from what he was talking about.
Speaker 8 (53:12):
It seems like about I don't think Dobbs has played
that badly. I think, like, I mean, Drake's your guy, but.
Speaker 2 (53:19):
But I think Woldridge has shown some stuff. I think
it's not just Dobbs not playing well. I think Woldridge
has actually shown an appictude for the position that might
make him a better candidate to be the backup.
Speaker 8 (53:33):
That being said, though, if something were to happen to Drake,
I feel more comfortable with Dobbs.
Speaker 2 (53:37):
Right now, right now, yeah to like yeah, yeah, but
I think that in terms of reps in practice, I
think Woldridge is starting to earn some more.
Speaker 7 (53:49):
Yep, it's just a matter of too, like who do
you want in the room with Drake a veteran mentor
or like this kid who's trying to Oh, you.
Speaker 2 (53:58):
Can still have like you're gonna cut up for sure
for sure.
Speaker 6 (54:02):
But as like the official backup.
Speaker 2 (54:06):
Well, listen, if Wildridge's has to prepare more to be
the real backup, that gives Dobbs more time to be
a mentor and that type of thing. So, I don't know,
there's different ways to look at it, but I took
from that that this backup thing isn't a settle, it's
not settled business. You know, it's still kind of obviously
(54:28):
Dobbs his job right now, but like Rabel said, for now,
he used that word for now. So other than that,
you know, nothing, nothing really revealing, but just in terms
of like what he expects from players and in the practices, Uh,
he just says a lot more than we're used to.
Speaker 8 (54:51):
Yeah, for sure, for sure, it's they're a bit more
I won't say entertaining, but informational.
Speaker 15 (54:56):
Now.
Speaker 2 (54:56):
Yeah, it's like you have to watch, Yeah, you know,
you might miss something if you don't. Yeah, So if
you're covering this team, I think Mike Rabel's press conferences
or must watch.
Speaker 6 (55:08):
Yeah, yep, he likes Scarecake. Yeah, it's weird.
Speaker 8 (55:11):
I don't like that take not Carecakes.
Speaker 6 (55:13):
Kind of an old man take though.
Speaker 8 (55:14):
So he's fifty, but I did he did. I like
that he gives it back to the reporters a little
like what Diggs was that he was talking about being
right for week one.
Speaker 6 (55:22):
So that's yes, we think it's Diggs. He was discussing
week one availability.
Speaker 8 (55:26):
But he's looked good so far, so I would hope
he's ready for week one.
Speaker 7 (55:30):
Seeing some of the videos come out of practice of
just the way he runs, and then seeing it in
person too, it's like it's like, you know how, here's
the analogy. It's like golfing, Like we can all hit
a golf ball, but then you go watch a pro
tournament and it just sounds different when they make contact
on the ball. That's how I feel watching Digs run
routes compared to any receiver we've ever had.
Speaker 6 (55:52):
It's just like it looks different.
Speaker 2 (55:54):
Well, I was listening to one of Paul's shows yesterday,
and actually Paul was on one of Paul's shows was yesterday.
It wasn't just his show, he was actually on it
he did a full four hours in the afternoon with
Michael Holly and Alex Barth was part of it as well.
And Barth was talking about diggs role last year before
(56:16):
he got hurt with the Texans, and they had, you know,
a young guy in Nico whatever, Nico Collins, who was
really the big play guy. He kind of took that
away from Diggs and Diggs was more the underneath guy
and in that role, he was still on target to
get a thousand yards. So he was doing well in
(56:39):
that role.
Speaker 16 (56:41):
You know.
Speaker 2 (56:41):
So people think, oh, well, he's not the Digs he
used to be. Well, that's because Nico Collins was that
guy and he was the younger guy. Yeah and yeah,
so Diggs was doing what I think was best for
the team. What will be best for the team this
year with him for the Patriots, Well, they want him
to be more that big play guy. Will he be
(57:04):
more that medium range guy that I think he was
with the Texans. I don't think he's going to be
a pure slot guy, no, you know, but I do
think I think he could have a lot of volume
here because he can get open.
Speaker 8 (57:18):
He's still got it, and I mean the we they're
a caller asked earlier about Mac Hollins. But like Mac Hollins,
we don't know what he's going to be at. Pop
has been having a great camp, so there's room for
everybody to shine, and Digs just being he's still just
a presence and the defense needs to worry.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
Yeah, I mean, I guess there was one play yesterday
early on. It might have been in one on ones
where he just left this guy in the dust.
Speaker 6 (57:40):
Now I know it's exactly.
Speaker 2 (57:43):
It's really hard on one on ones to keep with
your guy. It's it's almost impossible the offense. The receiver
should win that almost every time because he knows where
he's going. The defender doesn't. But he just he just
left this guy dust.
Speaker 8 (57:58):
Might have been Jeff Wokudo. I'm not sure, but he
was the guy was left clueless.
Speaker 2 (58:02):
Yeah, so that's Diggs. Yeah, that's Diggs. Hollins is a
bigger guy.
Speaker 7 (58:08):
Yeah, Collins is way more of a freak of nature
than I think we realize. Yeah, it's like I don't
know if it's the Tarzan shirt or what, but like
Mac Collins is a specimen.
Speaker 8 (58:20):
He's been doing it for a while. I wasn't really
big on the signing when we got him, and now
I'm kind of kind of on board like he's been
he's been making.
Speaker 2 (58:27):
So Diggs is your number one? Who's your number two?
Is it Hollands? Is Hollins right now your number two receiver?
Speaker 6 (58:33):
Do you think it's between Pop like number two option
or just like I think it's like you.
Speaker 8 (58:40):
Know, I think Pops your slock guy. I'm a little
intrigued by with Booty just because may have had such
a good connection.
Speaker 2 (58:45):
With him at the look at it just production, you know,
because like you brought up a good point. Sometimes on
some teams, your slot guy is your guy with the
most production, and that's what I think it'll be for
me to have the most production at the wide receiver position.
I think Pop, but I think really just with the
way Josh McDaniel, I don't think so. I don't think so.
Speaker 6 (59:06):
I think Hollins will mix in like a lot of
bit random big plays, like kind of when you least
expect it.
Speaker 8 (59:14):
Three catches are two three. But I think Pop is
due for I hope it's if I'm yeah, I hope
it's Digs too, Like I hope Diggs is showing shades
of what he used to be. But I just think
the way McDaniels plays like, I think there's a big
year ahead for Pop.
Speaker 6 (59:27):
Pop and Drake just have great chemistry on and off
the field. They have that year together where they've I
don't know, it just looks like they've really built something special.
I don't know how it'll look this year in season.
Pop's undersize and a small guy, so we'll see how
he's schemed open.
Speaker 8 (59:44):
But I think he's I think it's a good thing
of Pop has a big year too, because that's a
lesser known player around the league making an impact on
a team.
Speaker 2 (59:53):
So would you be shocked if I said Hollins will
be your number two? In terms of production, Diggs Booty
might have more production than Pop. Would be not big plays,
but he might have more production.
Speaker 8 (01:00:07):
I'd be surprised.
Speaker 6 (01:00:08):
I would be surprised.
Speaker 8 (01:00:08):
Yeah, I think so too. I mean, yeah, I'd be surprised.
Speaker 6 (01:00:11):
Okay, but I'm here for it because if either one
of those guys really turned.
Speaker 7 (01:00:15):
Into being like a great option at receiver, I mean,
how long has it been since we drafted and developed
like a super reliable one receiver.
Speaker 2 (01:00:24):
I know, I don't want to get ahead of myself.
But if things start to click, then you add in hunter.
Henry Hooper is a is a solid number two tight end,
is what we think he's gonna be. Yeah, all of
a sudden, Yeah, you've got what Paul considers weapons. Yes,
and that's gonna make Drake May better. It's going to
(01:00:46):
make the offensive line better because defenses we're going to
be what hard, hard to cover instead of easy to defend.
Speaker 7 (01:00:54):
Yes, Hollins too, I think we all touted him as
he's going to be a great locker room guy. He's
going to be a great veteran present, so we overlooked
what he would do on the field. But I think
even the impact he's made off the field in the
locker room is even being understated.
Speaker 6 (01:01:12):
Just talking to like even talking to the.
Speaker 7 (01:01:14):
Equipment guys and guys who are on the sport support
staff of the team, they Hollins is already their favorite
guy in the locker room, and just he's holding people
really accountable and calling out excuses in a way that
it's really like big brother friendly. But he's just so
stoic of a person that his wisdom just carries a
(01:01:36):
lot of weight with these young guys and I think
Kendrick Bourne is a really good veteran and a great guy,
but I think he's frankly just too nice to have
had that effect in a locker room and really bring
up the level of play, because guys were like, I
don't know, just hearing mac Hollins just being like, no,
you're making excuses like and calling that out.
Speaker 2 (01:01:58):
Yeah the ball he.
Speaker 6 (01:02:00):
Scored a touchdown and instantly like he looked like Manny
Noyer punting the ball out there for my Bunsliga fans.
Speaker 7 (01:02:07):
Yeah, but it was I love that energy and I'm
so with him. I think energy football is it really
the ebbs and flows of a game aren't so contingent
on who is controlling the energy.
Speaker 8 (01:02:19):
It's also something we haven't had in a while here,
just a new a new life, which is what need and.
Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
That wide receiver room needed that.
Speaker 8 (01:02:25):
Yeah, yes, yeah, we're talking about it and it's like
we brought in Hollands and Digs, but still a lot
of the same guys from last year, which just shows
the progress they're making.
Speaker 6 (01:02:33):
And it's the young guys making the progress, you know.
So it's like, what what's here this year that there
wasn't last year? That it's just elevating everyone's play.
Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
Grant and Iowa right saning. He says, I attended practice
yesterday and my biggest takeaway was how much better Drake
may was than McCarthy. Drake looked sharper with his placement
on his throws. McCarthy was more erratic with his placement
and his receivers had to bail him out on a
lot of high and low throws. Made me feel encouraged
that we picked the right player in the twenty twenty
four draft. I would be curious about Evans or Mike's
(01:03:03):
thoughts on this as well, when you call them today, Well,
we didn't really get into the whole comparison.
Speaker 8 (01:03:10):
It did seem though, like it seemed like a lot
of the McCarthy throws were just dump offs.
Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
I think you mentioned that, but I think our defense
had a lot to do with that. I think we
did well. I love watching may Vrabel stretch and Hollins
interact with the Special Olympics Flag football teams after practice.
Rabel brought the same energy to that as he does
to everything else. I'm glad I root for a team
that takes those things seriously and makes it a good
experience for all involved. I can see why everyone is
(01:03:35):
cautiously optimistic for this upcoming season. I hope it translates
to some wins. We all do.
Speaker 1 (01:03:43):
We all do.
Speaker 2 (01:03:46):
This is g in Connecticut. I listened to every episode
plus Catt twenty two so much that my wife, who
doesn't listen or really even care about football, knows some
of your names and many of the inside jokes. Your
jokes have just become part of our shared language.
Speaker 6 (01:04:01):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
Is it your love language? She heard me laughing one
day listening to you all, and I had to try
to explain the squeaky Brady your honor, your family's honor.
I pulled up a clip on YouTube, and imagine my
surprise when I realized that's not what he's saying. He
actually says, win this game. You're honored, your kids are honored,
your family's honored. Same thing doesn't matter. We like the
(01:04:23):
squeaky Fred version better. Hardly a week goes on without
one of us squeaking your honor, your family's honor at
each other. It never fails to make us laugh. Thanks
for producing great show and give us some silly mutual joy.
Speaker 1 (01:04:36):
Honor your honor?
Speaker 9 (01:04:41):
Who was that you.
Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
I can't even tell ye. So yeah, that was that
was from three games to glory?
Speaker 8 (01:04:49):
Yeah right, fifty one something I don't yeah, fifty one.
Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
Fred's like one of them, yeah, one of them count
I think it was earlier than that, but I'm not sure.
Brandy in Providence on the hotline, what's up, Randy? We go,
guys good?
Speaker 4 (01:05:07):
So what was that guy like to do? When we
do these joint practices? It all go to like the
other teams media and I want to see how they
see the practice and like how they see the Patriots.
And there are three things that were really interesting that
I found. Number One to that earlier letters comparison between
McCarthy and May Andrew Kramer, who was from their Star
(01:05:31):
tribute out there, but that may looked better than McCarthy
ever has versus the Flora's defense talked specifically about his arm,
his touch, and his ability to drop the ball in,
but they also pointed out that TJ. Hawkinson had really
good practices and zach Ertz did last week. Also, it
(01:05:52):
is that a precursor for this team having issues against
that ends. And then thirdly, they were down on Josh
Dobbs and I think It's interesting to point out because
Dobbs was there in Minnesota a couple of years ago.
She started four games there in twenty twenty three for them,
(01:06:14):
So they pointed out that he had some poor throws
support decisions, and they could see why the Bankings moved
on from So that kind of go to the earlier
conversation you guys were having about Dobbs versus Woodridge, who
looked really good in the press the game.
Speaker 2 (01:06:29):
Yeah, thanks Randy.
Speaker 6 (01:06:32):
Yeah, insight that Evan's given us today.
Speaker 2 (01:06:34):
Yeah, I did see that about the McCarthy may comparison.
The Hockinson thing, I've heard from several people that he
had a good practice. You know, good pass catching tight
ends give all teams trouble. Yeah, you know, it's not
just the Patriots. I mean, over the years, the Patriots,
you know, when they had a weakness and defense, it
seemed like tight ends took advantage. But these better tight
(01:06:57):
ends in the league get their production. They don't just
get it against one team, they get it against all teams.
So I'm not surprised Hockinson had a good day. You know,
a lot of times you're you're guarding the boundaries against
big plays and then the middle opens up, particularly when
you're in man to man. Uh, so you just try
(01:07:17):
to limit that.
Speaker 1 (01:07:18):
Yeah, I kind of.
Speaker 8 (01:07:19):
I find it kind of funny because during the joints too,
like they're they're hitting, but they're not doing like the
full hit. So like this happened with Hunter Henry against
the Commanders. There are a couple of plays he made
in the middle, but like that's full game action, like
he's getting crucified. So I think that could have happened
with Ertz and Hawkinson too. So yeah, it's interesting to see.
Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
But will the Patriots have trouble handling tight ends this year?
I don't know. Maybe they're a little bit smaller. Uh
brock Bowers a week one? Yeah, well brock Bowers, like
you know what, was he close to being Rookie of
the Year last year? He's you know, so you yeah,
he's he's great player. I'm sure he's gonna get his.
He's gonna get his. The question is can you limit it?
(01:07:59):
Can you limit at the yards after catch? And can
you limit it on the big moments? You know, when
it's third and nine, can you stop that? You know,
because that those are the killers when when they're third
and nine and they and they're getting first downs and
you just can't get your defense off the field. Those
are killers. But we'll see. You know, who's your tight
(01:08:22):
end killer on this team? I don't know, Like, who's
the guy, you know, I remember back in the day,
would be Rodney Harrison, you know, down from his safety spot.
Who's the guy that can match up well with tight ends.
It's not Marcus Jones. I think he's too small. So
you need somebody in the middle that can do that.
(01:08:43):
You know, maybe maybe when you're playing the Raiders, maybe
Carlton Davis. You move him from his outside, you move
Austin outside with help, and you have Davis match up
with Bowers because he's a bigger cornerback certainly speed wise
can keep up with him. You know, maybe you mix
it up that way.
Speaker 8 (01:09:02):
Yeah, No, it's I think, wasn't it the twenty seventeen
AFC game, like they had Ramsey on Gronk, Like, sometimes
you just need to put your big corner on the
Like sometimes the star receiver is the tight end right right,
and you.
Speaker 2 (01:09:13):
Just treat him that way, you treat him as a receiver.
So I'm sure you know Terrell Williams will figure that
out or try to figure it out anyway. It's interesting
Vrabel was talking about Williams being up in the booth
calling defense. You know, it could be partly because they
don't want him on his feet the whole practice, But
(01:09:37):
to me, that's more common with offensive coordinators.
Speaker 6 (01:09:40):
Really.
Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
Yeah, you see more offensive coordinators up in the booth
calling from up there. Especially in college, it's always up
in the booth.
Speaker 8 (01:09:48):
This has always been on the field.
Speaker 2 (01:09:50):
He's always been on the field. And I think a
lot of coordinators like being on the field because they
want to talk to the players coming off the you know,
between times. The phone call doesn't do it justice right.
You want to be in their face and talking about things.
But a lot of offensive coordinators like to be up high.
Speaker 7 (01:10:06):
Well, I wonder if it's by Williams' preference or it's
just Josh as a field guy, and Vrabel wants one
of his coordinators up top.
Speaker 2 (01:10:13):
Maybe I don't know, really good view up there. Yeah,
we'll see. Like when Deanp's was here for a little bit,
I think he liked to be up up top as
a defensive coordinator. Okay, you know, so we'll say Michael's
in Connecticut. What's up, Michael.
Speaker 17 (01:10:31):
I just have a question and a quick story. My
question is how you guys philipon another corner coming in
like Gilmore as like the fourth corner. And then my
story is I started to listening to you guys about
ten years ago because of my brother Jane. We lost
him a few years ago to Otfield percoma. But we
are having an event to honor him October fourth at
(01:10:52):
the y PA of Great harperd who partnered with Children's
Medical Hospital. So we're looking for players, donors things.
Speaker 16 (01:10:59):
Like that can go to the Day.
Speaker 17 (01:11:01):
Green Foundation dot com.
Speaker 2 (01:11:04):
Okay, you do that, and if if you want to
send our community relations the letter on letterhead from the foundation,
Patriots might be able to donate something. You're a New
England foundation, so I would do that. Go onto the
Patriots dot com slash community and I think there's an
area there where you can, uh you know, to get
(01:11:25):
donations and stuff. Uh yeah, so you can do that.
You know, Patriots might give you some signed items. I'm
sure you're gonna probably have like a silent auction or
something like that.
Speaker 20 (01:11:35):
We may have a wrap.
Speaker 17 (01:11:37):
Yeah details, but yeah, thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:11:39):
Okay, sounds good. Thanks for calling in, Michael, appreciate it.
Let's see, Well you talked about the bringing in a corner, right, yeah, Killmore,
I mean yeah, I would love that.
Speaker 6 (01:11:51):
What are you up to?
Speaker 8 (01:11:52):
That's the thing? What is on the street?
Speaker 2 (01:11:55):
I think you know he's always been a guy.
Speaker 8 (01:11:58):
Who he's turned into a journeyman.
Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
Well he's turning into journey but he doesn't like just
go to the next team like he has. He has
a price and he's not going to play for less
than that price.
Speaker 6 (01:12:09):
So he's like, I don't get out of bed.
Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
Yeah at this point, like should the Patriots be spending
money on yet another corner? Listen, if he wants to
come here, like one of these guys are going to
go down for a game or two, if not more,
and to have a guy like Gilmore, you know that
that would be awesome.
Speaker 8 (01:12:26):
Yeah, it works out do it?
Speaker 2 (01:12:30):
But yeah, where is he though? In terms of his
are fall shit? Are you ready?
Speaker 16 (01:12:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
Mark writes in from Cheddar A bit late to the party,
but I found the Brady statue very disrespectful. He has
done so much for the Patriots organization they can't even
find a space for him within the Hall of Fame.
Presented by Raytheon. It's been abandoned outside in the cold,
the height of disrespect. Serious question time. Eric apply to
(01:13:00):
be the sculptor, so he's being sarcastic.
Speaker 6 (01:13:05):
I hear Matt laughing at.
Speaker 8 (01:13:08):
We should get you on a ladder and you can
kiss the statue's cheek.
Speaker 6 (01:13:11):
Yeah, that'd be a big ladder. Yeah, you can't have
it in the Hall of Fame, it's too big.
Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
It was obviously statues are for outside. He was being
Marcus being sarcastic.
Speaker 6 (01:13:24):
Fun Eric Diggs last two this week.
Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
Uh, Travis, who claims to be an aquarius? Would you
rather have Drake May running right from jump streep to
put it on film or keep it in your back
pocket and ambush a team with it in week five
or six. I don't think whether or not you do
it in preseason. It's gonna make teams know he can run,
(01:13:48):
and teams know they're gonna have some design runs for him.
Speaker 8 (01:13:53):
It's also like he's not he's obviously not a run
for a sky. But it's like the Titans game last year,
it was like, hey, this is what we're doing it
and it wasn't even always like designed. It was there's
nothing there I'm going to run and get fifteen yards
and do it twelve times.
Speaker 2 (01:14:06):
Listen, I think as a quarterback running early and now
I'm not talking about design run. Now, I'm talking about
like you know, play runs. You see open field go.
I think that's good because it gives that other team. Okay,
we got to watch out for this, now, you know.
And again, the more the defense has to defend, the
(01:14:27):
tougher you are to defend. Fred. You're totally right. Astrology
is man made and should be for entertainment purposes.
Speaker 15 (01:14:35):
Only.
Speaker 2 (01:14:36):
Making assumptions of others based on their sign is horribly
prejudicial and unproductive. There that's fine, But.
Speaker 8 (01:14:44):
To s Aquarius are creative people. I'm an Aquarius.
Speaker 17 (01:14:47):
I like I'm a creative person.
Speaker 6 (01:14:48):
I think the shoes fit a lot of times.
Speaker 2 (01:14:51):
So I'm a cancer, but I feel I'm creative.
Speaker 1 (01:14:53):
So what I'm wrong? No, but you can look into
things that cancers are.
Speaker 21 (01:14:58):
I know.
Speaker 2 (01:14:58):
But that's the way they write these things though they're
never wrong. They're all written with broad strokes.
Speaker 6 (01:15:05):
This is going to be some a little newsletter assignment
for me. I think.
Speaker 7 (01:15:09):
Okay, I'm psycho analyze.
Speaker 2 (01:15:12):
You can make any astrology reading fit any person.
Speaker 6 (01:15:17):
I don't think that's true.
Speaker 8 (01:15:19):
Okay, see the newsletter.
Speaker 15 (01:15:22):
Behind it.
Speaker 2 (01:15:25):
Ah, all right, lots of lots of emails, lots of emails.
Speaker 6 (01:15:30):

Speaker 2 (01:24:13):
Lot of furniture. Yeah, all right. We're taking calls, We're
taking emails at podcast What is it?
Speaker 6 (01:24:21):
Podcast?
Speaker 2 (01:24:21):
Podcast at dot com? I forget podcast at Patriots dot com.
This is Chris in Vancouver. Last week or the week before,
there was an emailer who was harping, insulting one of
the younger callers, Nate.
Speaker 6 (01:24:38):
Nate.
Speaker 2 (01:24:39):
He likes to be the first caller on the shows. Personally,
I love hearing curiosity from younger callers regarding this sport.
I think Nate should keep calling and screw that person
who emailed and tried to insult Nate. At least he
has the cajones to call. Keep it up, Nate. My
question is for everyone with bronc Lampey injured, have you
seen or heard anyone else taking snaps at the full
(01:25:02):
back position in practice? I'm very curious if Josh will
proceed with one this year. Little Bobby Brady there, Jack West,
I think.
Speaker 6 (01:25:12):
We've seen you see the guy? Yeah, maybe I feel
like he could the body type.
Speaker 2 (01:25:18):
Like bring back Yakubill No, I think he is. He
with the Texans. I think Jakub hooked up with a team.
I'd love to have him back, but I think he's
with He might be with the Texans.
Speaker 6 (01:25:37):
A tough loss right when we announced her Germany market.
Speaker 8 (01:25:40):
Yeah, he's with the Texans.
Speaker 2 (01:25:43):
He's with the Texans. There you go, Alex Oh John says, Alex,
I'm an Aquarius.
Speaker 6 (01:25:51):
Okay, a lot of Aquarius listeners.
Speaker 2 (01:25:52):
Yeah, what do you think about Ben Brown at starting
left guard? In Wilson at center. Bradbury's deficients are really
starting to show, and I personally think taking a look
at Wilson at center could be a big improvement for
this offense. Is Bradbury's deficiency showing like where we've seen that.
Speaker 8 (01:26:11):
I think he's had a hot and cold camp, but
once again, it's still early. At least we have options,
some options.
Speaker 2 (01:26:20):
I mean a lot of people think Wilson eventually will
end up at center, and it's a little bit much
as a rookie to throw him in in there right away, but.
Speaker 7 (01:26:30):
Maybe a good situation just having them kind of split
on a situation by situation basis.
Speaker 6 (01:26:34):
Garrett's getting older.
Speaker 2 (01:26:37):
I will say though that there's a lot of I think,
you know, I think there's a lot of options at
left guard on this team right now. You know there's
Kayden Wallace, there's Cold Strange obviously, including of course Wilson.
So that would be a position where I think there
might be a little death. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:26:58):
Versatility is good too, because like a ligne, there's times
where it just gets beaten up. So at least multiple
guys you can play from there.
Speaker 2 (01:27:04):
Jacket and Arbors says, I'm a Pisces and I know
that sign fits me because I work for Scale.
Speaker 1 (01:27:11):
What is that?
Speaker 2 (01:27:11):
Oh fish, gotcha?
Speaker 8 (01:27:16):
Gotcha?
Speaker 2 (01:27:17):
Good on that?
Speaker 8 (01:27:20):
One.
Speaker 2 (01:27:22):
Jack also says, after seeing the Jets man handle the
Packers thirty to ten at Lambeau, should we Patriots fans
be concerned that the Jets will no longer be too
reliable wins in the schedule.
Speaker 8 (01:27:32):
No, it's a preseason, a preseason game, and I've seen
a lot of clips of Justin Field's not being able.
Speaker 2 (01:27:36):
To I mean, should the league be quaking in their
boots because the Patriots scored forty eight points? Yes, you
know what I mean? You can't tell from that.
Speaker 8 (01:27:44):
I think a perfect example is the Lions went four
and oh in the preseason the year they went oh
and sixteen. I'm pretty sure there you go.
Speaker 2 (01:27:54):
Yeah, but I don't think the Jets are an easy out.
Speaker 8 (01:27:56):
No, they have some they have some weapons, but I mean, yes,
it's not it's definitely not easy two wins, but they've
there's been some worrying videos of Justin Field's going around
right right, so that's the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
He might stink. Yeah, and if that happens, okay, Patriots
should win. But Jeffson have have and have had a
lot of talent.
Speaker 8 (01:28:16):
I like their coach. They have, Garrett Wilson. Still sauce
Gardner like they're not. They're not pushovers, that's for sure.
And even the years they were bad, their defense was
pretty tough.
Speaker 2 (01:28:28):
Jeff writes in love all the zodiacal talk today.
Speaker 6 (01:28:32):
Thanks Jeff.
Speaker 2 (01:28:32):
I agree with Alex Rabel being a LEO is great
news for the Patriots. But do we know where his
moon is placed in his natal chart?
Speaker 7 (01:28:40):
So this is what I was trying to explain to
Fred during the break when I read him his There's
a lot of aspects that go into it, with where
you were born, what time you were born.
Speaker 6 (01:28:49):
So I'll try to get the full chart. I'll work
on that this season.
Speaker 10 (01:28:54):
No reread it.
Speaker 2 (01:28:57):
Chris in the UK currently from Virginia. We're going to
the Titans game in October and looking for tips advice
on what you or the team might be planning in
these games. Prior to the game in town, I have
no idea. No, I did at all look to the clubs. Yeah,
the fan club in Nashville's uh one. Yeah, really it's
(01:29:18):
a big one.
Speaker 8 (01:29:18):
There'll be stuff to do before and after the game.
Bumping City.
Speaker 2 (01:29:21):
That's that's a very active and well organized fan club.
Having looked at the fan Zone, the information is a
bit sparse, so hoping you might have more details, you
go to the Nashville fan club site. So I'm wondering
when he refers to the fan zone, is he's talking
about the fan club registry, because then the fan zone
(01:29:44):
if you go to the fan club Registry and then
you just type in the state or city and any
fan clubs in that area will pop up. It's on
the club to update their page. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:29:55):
You can also probably find a lot of the clubs
on social media. Look on Instagram, on Twitter, Facebook, they'll
post stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:30:05):
Last couple of days, so a little bit more activity,
a lot of like clubs coming out. Have you noticed that?
But why is that?
Speaker 8 (01:30:12):
Like I feel that happens. I feel like that happens
every time around this time of year, like just people move.
Speaker 2 (01:30:18):
I didn't know if like we put something out there
to remind people about it.
Speaker 7 (01:30:23):
Every time, we should promote that every time we mentioned
it on the show. I see more like applications and
sign up.
Speaker 8 (01:30:29):
Yeah. No, there's a lot of clubs, but it's usually
around this time of year a bunch of new clubs
pop up.
Speaker 2 (01:30:33):
Yeah. And the other good thing about it is if
you're a bar, you can actually register your bar as well,
as long as you're being honest and you actually do
show the Patriots games on Sundays, you know, please do that,
because it becomes a real good tool. If you're traveling
around and you want to watch the Patriots game with
other Patriots fans rather than just like in a hotel room,
(01:30:56):
you can use the fan club Registry to define places
to watch the game. He says. The fan Zone also
lists a venue in Williamsburg, Virginia for fan meet ups,
but but it lists that the venue was closed. Is
there someone responsible for updating and maintaining this information? Bred well,
(01:31:18):
the bar. We don't in the bar, So when we're done,
go look up Williamsburg and delete them if they're actually closed.
Speaker 1 (01:31:26):
But I know that, I know.
Speaker 2 (01:31:27):
There's also a good club in Virginia too. I can't
remember which city or town it is, but there used
to be a really active Virginia fan club. I think
it was called Patriots Fans of Virginia.
Speaker 8 (01:31:40):
It makes sense.
Speaker 2 (01:31:41):
Yeah, well sometimes it's a city, yeah, you know, but
it's a good tool. I don't think we promoted enough
the fan club Registry, uh so, but it's there under
fan Zone on Patriots dot Com. Uh Sean and Vancouver.
Based on Rabel's recent interview, it sounds like Dougger is
(01:32:03):
still working his way back recovering from an injury. Hopefully
that's the case and he'll be back to being one
of the NFL's top strong safeties. Did we get a
sense from Rabel that he's still hurt? How do we
know that?
Speaker 8 (01:32:15):
I think he really mentioned it.
Speaker 2 (01:32:16):
Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 8 (01:32:17):
I missed it.
Speaker 6 (01:32:18):
I feel like he kind of not gleazed over.
Speaker 7 (01:32:21):
But that was the one point where we got coach
speak because they were He was asked if he would
consider moving him to linebacker, and Rabel was like, we'll
consider everything that would be good for the football.
Speaker 2 (01:32:33):
He was.
Speaker 6 (01:32:36):
Comparing Dougger. Would you do something to Dougger.
Speaker 18 (01:32:39):
Like you did?
Speaker 2 (01:32:39):
Oh, then my mistake.
Speaker 6 (01:32:41):
That's how I heard it.
Speaker 8 (01:32:43):
Maybe I'm wrong, but could that makes sense? I think
it's gonna be interesting to see how much Dougger plays
on the weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:32:51):
I don't know. I don't. I don't think that would
work out for Dougger either moving down No, No, you know,
he's a good hitter, but linebacker, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:33:02):
Like, and it's still redundant for Peppers.
Speaker 2 (01:33:04):
Yeah, Yeah, and their ability hasn't been a strong suit.
So if coverage is it's tough at safety. What's he
going to do when Bowers is coming across the middle.
You know, I don't know. Maybe he could be good,
but yeah, that's that's an ongoing situation there is.
Speaker 15 (01:33:22):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:33:23):
I think map who too, like what's going on with him?
Speaker 10 (01:33:26):
You know?
Speaker 2 (01:33:26):
Yeah, that's one of those interesting picks. I mean, he
was getting reps with the fourth string on, you know,
last Friday, So I don't know what's going on with
him either. I mean, like you mentioned it earlier, Alex
Taviuy Map who dugger Jennings? Like, where do they fit?
Are they going to find a place for them?
Speaker 15 (01:33:47):
You know?
Speaker 2 (01:33:47):
I like Jennings as a player, you know, I hope
he sticks. I think you could find things for him.
But you know, with Landry in here now and it's
they've upgraded, Yeah for sure. Uh, Tim our friend from
Duncan right say? And I think Fred you're onto something
regarding the backup quarterback situation. I think Rabel also intimated
(01:34:11):
that maybe he needs to get someone else altogether. We
may see some interesting backups being released during cutdown day.
Speaker 8 (01:34:21):
Yeah, I think which interesting one to be cut.
Speaker 2 (01:34:24):
But I don't know are there any backups that are interested.
Speaker 8 (01:34:29):
I'm not the backup quarterback connoisseur, but now it'll be interesting.
See this could be a big game for Woodridge.
Speaker 2 (01:34:36):
So Zach says he's from Pennsylvania. Fred, you don't have
to read this out if you don't want to. I
do just glad to hear you pushing back against the
ridiculous idea that the day and time you were born
as any significant impact in someone's personality continue to be
the stalwart representative of the skeptics. By the way, I'm
a Taurus.
Speaker 6 (01:34:57):
It's a very Taurist take.
Speaker 2 (01:34:59):
Yes, oh is it?
Speaker 7 (01:35:00):
I would think so there's like billionaires that have like
personal astrologists on their own staff. There's like hedge funds
and investment banks that have astrologists like full time helping
them strategize when to make deals or like this isn't
just whooo okay woo.
Speaker 6 (01:35:21):
I'm a little woo, but like, I think there's some
legitimacy into this. We don't have to discuss it further.
Speaker 2 (01:35:29):
Okay, uh ash and Olympia Washington. Perhaps I'm overthinking this,
but Javon Baker makes a big catch in the OTAs
and celebrates after a touchdown and gets a talking to
by the coach. We all wonder at his maturity. Mac
Collins makes a big catch and celebrates after a touchdown
by kicking the ball, and we all marvel at the
(01:35:49):
energy he brings to the practice. Could you explain why
these events are treated differently? Okay? And I don't know,
but I'm guessing here. The Hollands one came at a
time where it was sort of it was a touchdown,
so it ended a drive. The Baker one was just
a big catch, get back to the huddle, Like your
(01:36:11):
celebration can't take up time from getting back to the huddle.
I'm just guessing that might have been the situation.
Speaker 8 (01:36:17):
Well, there's also just like this is a vet who's
done it before and a second year player who's like.
Speaker 2 (01:36:23):
Maybe, but Rabel has been vocal about you should celebrate,
but if it's second down you make a big catch,
third down's coming up, we got to get back to
you know. And he said, I like to run my
practices like the game, you know. I don't like guys
substituting from behind the play. They should substitute from the sideline.
You know, one play leads into another. There shouldn't be
(01:36:43):
a lot of you know, time between plays. We should
handle our practices like the game. So if you're spending
too much time celebrating after a play that's leading into
another play, I can see where you might get a
talking to. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe his was a
touchdown too. I don't know, but I think the email
of would have said it was a touchdown.
Speaker 8 (01:37:03):
If it was a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:37:04):
Hollins was after a touchdown, so that's different.
Speaker 6 (01:37:07):
Also, when we were talking about Baker, I think we
were kind of just playing like Devil's Advocate. I don't
even know if that was really a narrative that people
were upset with Baker celebrating, because I don't think.
Speaker 2 (01:37:17):
Those people were upset. Vrabel was upset, right, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:37:20):
I think Baker's.
Speaker 7 (01:37:23):
He looks like a guy that knows like he could
totally get caught and have to have a real job,
like in the next month, and I think he's rising
to that occasion. He seemed like he had a good
day yesterday too, trying to make an impact on special
teams too. So and like all those guys that came
in like, if it's Polk or Baker, I give the
(01:37:43):
edge to Baker.
Speaker 2 (01:37:44):
Yeah, Anthony writes in I've been gifted two tickets to
the Patriots Bucks game in Tampa, so I'm going with
my fiance and I'm wondering if you guys have been
down there before and can you recommend any restaurants, events,
things to go the do down there? Just go to
school in Tampa, but that was a long time ago.
But I will tell you if you want to go
to one of the best steakhouses in the country, Burns
(01:38:07):
in Tampa, but I think they don't let you make
a reservation further than two months out, so check your calendar.
But if you can get into Burns, it's a it's
a good experience. That's good. I mean, what do they
call it? Not Columbia, But there's an area down there
(01:38:31):
that's like really has a lot of bars and restaurants.
Begins with a sea.
Speaker 6 (01:38:36):
Never been to Tampa, been once, but I'm just more
of a South Atlantic Florida girl.
Speaker 8 (01:38:41):
I've read how many times have you been for like
with the Pats, because last time I played here is
what twenty seventeen.
Speaker 2 (01:38:46):
I haven't been to Burns since I was in college.
That's the last time I went. But I know it's
still Thereampa A few times, Yeah, yeah, quite a few times.
It's changed a lot since I went to school. There's
it's a could see and then not far away is
you know, really nice beaches, you know Clearater, Clearwater and
Saint Pete. So there's a lot. You know, Tampa is
(01:39:10):
the city is a lot to do, just like anyone
else everywhere else, but Burns is famous. We're nationwide. So
if you like steak, try to get into Burns. Let's
see Ottawa Pete from Ottawa cleaning pools in South Florida.
A little bit of a complaint, he says. I hear
(01:39:32):
it mostly from Paul, but can you please use the
full names or last names of the mics around the team.
I know Paul is besties with all of them, but
often he is rambling loll about how Mike said this,
and Mike said that. There are three very important mics
related to pu. I usually eventually figure out who he's
talking about, but it takes a bit, So do so
(01:39:56):
Braible who else? Mike who Jerse, that's a good one, Yeah,
Mike Felger.
Speaker 6 (01:40:05):
But that's just Felger.
Speaker 2 (01:40:06):
No, but he's meant you know, he's mentioned a lot. Yeah,
so good shout out, Good shout out, Mike.
Speaker 6 (01:40:14):
There's more.
Speaker 2 (01:40:18):
Dinner plates, writes in and I'll read this because they're
a sponsor, I've got to give a shout out to
my new brunt underwear, fastballs, karate kicks, medieval re ennapmens, spears,
blow torches, and viat for men. Don't put a scratch
in these things. I walk like I'm riding a horse,
but I'm well protected. Sometimes it's all where, it's all where.
(01:40:40):
When I'm watching it's all allware. When I'm watching the
Patriots from my Bob's discount couch. They ever make a
chastity version, I'm getting it for my daughters.
Speaker 6 (01:40:49):
Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (01:40:50):
Nice. Nice.
Speaker 6 (01:40:52):
What does he do for a living talking about blow
torches and oh, medieval.
Speaker 2 (01:40:57):
He's obviously a comedians bos comic writer. There you go.
Another sponsor email Todd in North Carolina says Bob's Discount
Furniture just opened up there, so there you go. It's
in Fayetteville. So he needs some patio furniture and a
few things for my son's homework area. So he's going
(01:41:18):
to be heading over to Bob's code named pats right, yeah,
promo code.
Speaker 8 (01:41:23):
Promo code code name.
Speaker 2 (01:41:31):
Let's see.
Speaker 8 (01:41:34):
A lot of emails just going through them.
Speaker 2 (01:41:39):
Uh my Mira in Nigeria, right said our friends in Nigeria.
We're big. We're big in Nigeria. Did you know that.
Speaker 6 (01:41:47):
I didn't know that, but it would make sense because
I feel like a lot of football players come from Nigeria.
Speaker 1 (01:41:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:41:54):
Yeah, high school roommate was Nigeria and he got in
the football through Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:41:58):
I know. I think it's the Rams put their flag
in Nigeria as one of their jerip.
Speaker 8 (01:42:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:42:06):
Yeah, Mike on Wendy's parents are from there.
Speaker 2 (01:42:09):
Yeah. Anyway, Mirror writes in I hope we're still allowed
to share off season topics during the preseason because my
husband just pulled a Fred and allowed our dog to
lick potato chip crumbs off his fingertips. It's not exactly
the same as buffalo sauce, but I felt compelled to
capture the moment for you guys. Anyway, did I send
you this picture?
Speaker 16 (01:42:29):
Ye?
Speaker 15 (01:42:29):
I did.
Speaker 2 (01:42:29):
Yeah, so we'll have that in the newsletter. No, yeah, definitely, Okay, No,
we want to telling me what to put in the newsletter.
Speaker 15 (01:42:38):
Well you.
Speaker 6 (01:42:40):
The newsletter, So I do what you asked.
Speaker 2 (01:42:42):
No, you're the creator, you created it.
Speaker 6 (01:42:45):
I upkeep it.
Speaker 2 (01:42:47):
Well, now you're the creator on a weekly basis. You created.
Speaker 12 (01:42:54):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:42:54):
I got to twist my arm and I think that's
perfectly appropriate. Mirror.
Speaker 6 (01:42:59):
Uh you know, yeah, it's still the off season, definitely.
I mean we'll always take it.
Speaker 2 (01:43:05):
It's your dog, it's your family.
Speaker 8 (01:43:07):
The dog licks you so what you know, licking the
chips off your fingers. But then do you go back
into the bag.
Speaker 2 (01:43:13):
Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no no. It's
when you're done.
Speaker 6 (01:43:17):
It's when at the bottom of the bag.
Speaker 2 (01:43:20):
You're finished. Now you're watching TV and.
Speaker 6 (01:43:22):
You're like, what are you gonna do? Be a slob
and like empty the bag of crumb.
Speaker 2 (01:43:26):
No, no, it's when you're done with your buffalo wings
or whatever. You don't have the dog lick and then
go back.
Speaker 6 (01:43:31):
That's like I don't have a wet nap. I don't
want to get up go to wash my hands.
Speaker 2 (01:43:37):
It's it's the finishing touch, so to speak. Cameron from Brookline.
Two quick things. First, Baker's catch was a touchdown. I
was at the practice that day, all right, so I
stand corrected. I think my things right then, But like
Hollins has done it before, maybe second. With fantasy season
(01:43:59):
coming up, many people have fun ways to pick players
that don't involve stats. Do you all have non serious reasons?
A player may make the roster that doesn't have to
do with talent. An example, may just got a ring
so he's more likely to get another. Not really, no,
you don't.
Speaker 8 (01:44:17):
I just don't draft from certain teams, like what teams
Jets like reluctantly We'll do Garret Wilson. But that's it.
Speaker 6 (01:44:26):
I retired from fantasy, locked in. I don't know the
time for it.
Speaker 2 (01:44:32):
John in South Carolina says there is no legitimacy to astrology.
It's a gateway drug to conspiracy theorists. So I don't
I see she's getting mad upset. I wait a minute,
no body language, body language, you're you started quivering.
Speaker 6 (01:44:53):
I think conspiracies.
Speaker 7 (01:44:55):
Everyone wants to be a conspiracy theorist because people love
just being ab to like have information that other people don't.
It makes them feel important. But really a lot of
times it's like you just have too much time on
your hands. Astrology and the stars can be like the
ancient Greeks who'd like discovered math were worried about this stuff,
(01:45:18):
and for some reason, some like big cataclysmic event happened
that wiped out most of the population, and then we
got away from that stuff.
Speaker 6 (01:45:26):
But I mean, if you can use.
Speaker 7 (01:45:28):
The stars to predict the tides of the ocean, you
don't think it has any other based on math, And so.
Speaker 6 (01:45:36):
I don't know. There's an interesting rabbit hole anyway.
Speaker 2 (01:45:39):
John says that.
Speaker 7 (01:45:39):
Intersect Christianity and astrology and the Venn diagram where those
two things meet.
Speaker 6 (01:45:46):
It's just a fascinating rabbit hole to go down, and
I'll leave.
Speaker 1 (01:45:49):
It at that.
Speaker 2 (01:45:50):
Fred is right. It's just written broadly so people find
enough relatable to accept it. Okay, there are football players
that use the same socks every game without washing them.
It doesn't mean and stinky socks make you a good
football player.
Speaker 7 (01:46:02):
Astrology is not some random thirty year old chick who's
paid by Vogue or US Weekly to write an astrology column.
That's not astrology like that. It's kind of astrology. But
that's just like a column in a magazine. Right, This
is this is your reading for the day. That's all
just some random girl writing about this stuff that's not
(01:46:24):
the actual.
Speaker 6 (01:46:25):
Science of it. Okay, science and quotes ends an ology,
it's a science.
Speaker 2 (01:46:32):
Linda writes in I'm a Libra on the cusp Cusp
of Scorpio.
Speaker 16 (01:46:36):
Me too.
Speaker 2 (01:46:37):
I know co Star for quite a while from a
family member who is a founder and still part of
the leadership driving content development is very what I don't
know what that means.
Speaker 8 (01:46:48):
Co Star is an astrology out.
Speaker 1 (01:46:50):
Oh is it?
Speaker 13 (01:46:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:46:51):
Oh? Okay, Now on to the Patriots. There's a lot
of hope for the season. National media is on board,
and even some of the wet blankets are thinking, there's
it's this year. Do you think that Poke could go
to IR opening a spot for another wide receiver? He could, well, yeah,
I think he definitely could go on IR. I wonder
if even I don't think he's taken up a spot
(01:47:14):
though at this point, So like when you say, oh,
would that open up a spot for another wide receiver?
I think he's the one looking for a spot to
open up.
Speaker 8 (01:47:23):
It's just such a tough situation to see a second
year pick potentially be done after a year. Yeah, second round, Sorry.
Speaker 2 (01:47:32):
Dan says. Horoscopes are the new Rivers have ties, that's
what I was looking for.
Speaker 6 (01:47:36):
Horse. It's not just a horoscope, Like, that's just a
random girl's writing that for a column.
Speaker 2 (01:47:41):
Okay, so that's different than astrology.
Speaker 6 (01:47:44):
It's not super different, but horoscopes are based on astrology. Yes,
so horoscopes, I agree.
Speaker 7 (01:47:52):
Like usually it's just like, okay, whatever, this is vague
enough to apply to anything. But it's not like you're
a cancer. I'm a libra. There's traits associated with that
and there I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:48:05):
This is like a whole no, but I know, but
there are people like like if they're dating and they
find out you're a certain side, I can't date you.
Speaker 7 (01:48:12):
Well, I tend to date geminis and leo's and I'm
most compatible as a libro with geminis and leos, So.
Speaker 2 (01:48:19):
You date them before you know that they're correct, right,
And then.
Speaker 6 (01:48:23):
Later I learn and I'm like, oh that'd interesting.
Speaker 7 (01:48:26):
Yeah, and like really start like high powered athletes being leos, Like, okay,
that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (01:48:34):
Would you consider yourself an expert?
Speaker 18 (01:48:36):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:48:36):
Oh, okay, because I was going to say, maybe this
could be a segment.
Speaker 6 (01:48:39):
I might turn it into I might become an expert
just for this.
Speaker 2 (01:48:44):
This could be a weekly.
Speaker 6 (01:48:45):
I need to find a way to clap back at
some of these emailers.
Speaker 2 (01:48:48):
Yeah, I'll do a reading breakdown.
Speaker 8 (01:48:52):
C Well you should.
Speaker 2 (01:48:53):
Actually what you should do is get all the players birthdates, yes,
those are all readily available, and their signs, and then
and predict what's gonna happen based on their zodiac signs.
Speaker 6 (01:49:04):
Which Drake may August, yeah, but it's August now and
vrabels of Leo, like that wasn't Drake early August? Yeah,
so he might be Virgo's next. I gotta think of
what comes up. I don't know he's a Virgo. Oh,
(01:49:26):
his birthday's coming up. It hasn't happened yet.
Speaker 2 (01:49:28):
Drake's yeah, Drake, So that means he's not going to
be good.
Speaker 7 (01:49:33):
My siblings are Virgos. They know it's a very prepared sign.
Like they're very organized, very prepared, okay, like.
Speaker 8 (01:49:43):
An organized quarterback, fiery, fiery, okay.
Speaker 2 (01:49:49):
Virgo athletes Kobe Bryant, Patrick Homes not bad. But based
on the description you gave of Leo, I would say
Kobe Bryant would be.
Speaker 7 (01:49:59):
More you would think, so, right, Maybe he's right on
the cusp though, so maybe he picks up like I'm
a like our wonderful emailer.
Speaker 6 (01:50:08):
I'm a Libra on the cusp of Scorpio, and I
get a lot of Scorpio tendencies in my libra. This
is like gibberished friends. There you go, so right on
the verge of Leo.
Speaker 2 (01:50:25):
I'm on the verge of tears. Let's see who is
Oh my god, I can't read all of this, but
Martin is just from outside of London.
Speaker 6 (01:50:38):
Ah.
Speaker 2 (01:50:41):
What if the NFL had a player loan system like
we have in soccer here in the UK. Imagine young talent,
a promising rookie who's buried on a stack roster, who
could get real game time elsewhere instead of just riding
the bench or getting cut. No team would It's cool,
but it's too violent a sport. Not enough team. Yes.
The good thing about soccer in Europe is they have
(01:51:03):
all these different it's.
Speaker 6 (01:51:04):
Different leagues, that's the thing.
Speaker 8 (01:51:05):
Sometimes alone leagues like Chelsea was in the finals years
ago or something in Europe. I think it was Chelsea
and like their goalie started against him in the final,
and one within the Premier League I think it was
Champions League.
Speaker 6 (01:51:17):
Well, Champions League is different leagues.
Speaker 8 (01:51:20):
Yeah, but it can be two English teams versus each other, right,
but it would be it'd be interesting like last year,
we could have loaned out some players.
Speaker 2 (01:51:26):
So is Matt Turner back on the Revs.
Speaker 8 (01:51:28):
Yes, on a loan on alone, right, yes, right?
Speaker 2 (01:51:32):
And he's starting at goal I think so a keeper
I'm sorry, a keeper, keep keeper, goalie.
Speaker 8 (01:51:38):
He's doing doing a push for the World Cup. So okay,
well they won, right, Yeah, they got a star coming
Saturday against him, human Son from Tottenham. He just signed
with LA Oh.
Speaker 2 (01:51:51):
Yeah, okay, and I like that. Carlos Heel passed U
twelve men for all time goals for the team.
Speaker 8 (01:52:00):
Great play, he's good. Like if you put him on
another team, he's a great player. He's he's carrying a
very bad team right now.
Speaker 2 (01:52:08):
Jack writes in Jack, I replied something about his last email.
I forget what it was, he said. The reason I
asked about that option at left guard? Oh, moving Wilson
over in center. It's because multiple reports from camp, one
from Evan I believe, show that they have pulled Wilson
from left guard and replaced him with Brown. Just some
(01:52:31):
context to the question when did this happen?
Speaker 8 (01:52:35):
Got to ask Evan Minnesota. Yeah, it must be Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (01:52:38):
I I maybe in the game, but in the practice
I thought it was Campbell and Wilson right yesterday.
Speaker 8 (01:52:48):
So I guess. So he's saying Brown got a couple
of reps at left guard.
Speaker 2 (01:52:51):
Sure, a lot of people got reps at guard. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:52:53):
Yeah, I think that's just what he's saying.
Speaker 2 (01:52:55):
Oh yeah, oh Brown is versatile. Yeah yeah, you need
versatility on the line. Injuries will happen. Uh. You know
they say inside you should be able to play all
three positions, you know, So I'm not surprised at that
at all. Tony in Ottawa. We have had Pete in Ottawa.
(01:53:17):
Now we have Tony and Ottawa. I noticed we went
back This is about the intro songs. I noticed we
went back to the original Crazy Train intro against Washington
last week. Is that here to stay for the regular season? Personally,
I'm a big fan of it and want to keep
the tradition going. Well, they kept using it last year,
but it was remix. It was a remix with.
Speaker 8 (01:53:37):
Let's Go or something. But I wonder if Ozzie pass.
Speaker 2 (01:53:43):
Of course we talk about that.
Speaker 8 (01:53:45):
I like there wre songs you could.
Speaker 2 (01:53:47):
Have as a running out song. So I would like
to get some a new tradition going. Yeah, how are
the T shirts going?
Speaker 8 (01:53:59):
Ask Matt?
Speaker 2 (01:53:59):
I see a lot of emails of people looking for
T shirts today. Five cent out today, five out of
how many?
Speaker 10 (01:54:07):
No, that was all fun?
Speaker 8 (01:54:08):
Okay, you address five hundred now they're good. People like them.
Speaker 2 (01:54:14):
But like, if you're if you're not someone who did
something in the past, how do you get a.
Speaker 8 (01:54:19):
T shirt from bringing back trivia? We are bringing it back.
Speaker 2 (01:54:24):
We're going to bring it back.
Speaker 8 (01:54:25):
Yeah, Okay, we're gonna run that back. Yeah, running it back.
Speaker 2 (01:54:28):
Okay, howls complimenting me.
Speaker 17 (01:54:30):
We'll get them to you faster.
Speaker 8 (01:54:31):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (01:54:32):
Okay, show love to Matt. Okay, all right, maybe you
have a good game.
Speaker 6 (01:54:38):
Do we have something? Paul was one of them, Yeah something.
Speaker 8 (01:54:41):
Do you have a couple of reviews on the new shirts?
Speaker 15 (01:54:43):
People are liking them.
Speaker 2 (01:54:43):
People like them, like the material, and they're not they
don't hate the logos. The first wash will be the
big thing. How has it come out in the wash?
Speaker 8 (01:54:52):
I just washed mine.
Speaker 2 (01:54:53):
It was good.
Speaker 8 (01:54:53):
It's good.
Speaker 2 (01:54:54):
I washed and size.
Speaker 6 (01:54:57):
You need people to make like user generated content reviews
of the T shirt.
Speaker 8 (01:55:01):
I do want to add the world's original podcast to it,
like the next the next model.
Speaker 6 (01:55:07):
Well that has to be a spell and I can't
say like all the podcasts.
Speaker 2 (01:55:11):
So just so that you know, if we're gonna put
it in writing, you know this, it's debatable if we're
the words worlds are rigid. No, no, no, no, But
there is no debate that we are the world's longest
running So use that verbiage. The world's longest running podcast.
That's a fact that that's indisputable.
Speaker 8 (01:55:32):
Taking it to the grave.
Speaker 2 (01:55:33):
Ye, So put that on it.
Speaker 8 (01:55:35):
Okay, But yeah, I think they look good though. If
they like them, I'm happy we get.
Speaker 2 (01:55:40):
Some definitely some caps. But but so like on the
cap though, it's gonna look good right there, you know.
So we got to figure that out.
Speaker 19 (01:55:51):
I just want to see that logo on a cat.
Speaker 2 (01:55:54):
The one behind me. But isn't it too horizontal for
a cat? You think it would look? Okay, we can
make it work. You can make it work. Well, we'll talk,
we'll talk to the guys. Okay, better hat than the
training camp hat though. Yeah. And I also, you know,
we had a very limited run of the Forged and
(01:56:15):
Foxboro T shirt.
Speaker 6 (01:56:16):
That's a great T shirt.
Speaker 2 (01:56:17):
Yeah, sold like fifty in a day in the Pro Shop.
Speaker 6 (01:56:21):
They're really soft and really nice. I wear that T
shirt like three ds.
Speaker 2 (01:56:25):
That's a good t s form the house.
Speaker 1 (01:56:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:56:28):
So unfortunately the Patriots don't run their own e commerce anymore.
It's fanatics.
Speaker 6 (01:56:33):
I wish we did.
Speaker 2 (01:56:33):
But if I have a friend in Foxboro, send them
down to the Pro Shop to get pick up a
forge in Foxborough while they're still there.
Speaker 8 (01:56:40):
Yeah, probably gonna have to reprint those.
Speaker 7 (01:56:42):
That's a good problem now, Yeah, because after that material
the content brand.
Speaker 6 (01:56:47):
Yeah, forty seven does a good job. It's a forty
seven brand T shirt.
Speaker 2 (01:56:51):
Jeremiah. Astrology is just a lot of vague descriptions that
apply to everyone if you try hard enough. The more
descriptive it gets, the more you see that you are
pretty much related to all the signs. That way, it
covers up for all the generalizations it is wrong about.
It is my very humble opinion. Don't get offended.
Speaker 6 (01:57:10):
I'm not getting offended. I didn't create astrology, but believe
in it. I do believe in it. Yeah, And the
more I read about it, the more I believe in it. Okay,
So I think a lot of people have just not
taken the time because they think they're above it. If
you took the time, gave it a chance.
Speaker 7 (01:57:28):
You might be like, hey, I mean, what's wrong with
learning about your strengths and weaknesses and trying to live
to your fullest potential knowing what your weaknesses are?
Speaker 2 (01:57:39):
Nothing but astrology.
Speaker 6 (01:57:43):
Well, let's go back to your uh, your reading. He
agreed with all the positivity.
Speaker 10 (01:57:51):
Do you have a co star?
Speaker 6 (01:57:52):
No, but we would need to find out when he
was born and what time and what city? Do you
know what time you're born at? Do you still have
your birthday?
Speaker 2 (01:58:00):
It was either eight the morning or eight at night.
I can't remember. Providence, Rhode Island.
Speaker 6 (01:58:07):
Okay, So I'll see what I can do with that.
Speaker 2 (01:58:08):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (01:58:09):
Cancers loyal, protective, creative, and imaginative, tenacious, determined, moody and sensitive.
Speaker 6 (01:58:19):
Overly attached to the past.
Speaker 2 (01:58:23):
No, I'm not attached to the past. I'm always looking forward. Well,
maybe you're on the cusp maybe June twenty fifth.
Speaker 6 (01:58:34):
End of the month, you might be on the cusp
of another sign July twelfth, that's your birthday or your
your cancer too?
Speaker 1 (01:58:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 15 (01:58:42):
I know.
Speaker 6 (01:58:42):
Did you relate to that reading?
Speaker 2 (01:58:44):
Maybe all right, that's going to be it for astrology today.
Speaker 6 (01:58:50):
Astrology unfiltered.
Speaker 2 (01:58:52):
Yeah, okay, So Catch twenty two is at four four
o'clock Eastern time.
Speaker 6 (01:58:58):
Actually maybe a little.
Speaker 2 (01:59:00):

Speaker 6 (01:59:08):
No, he's going on, nesson, he's going to go on.
He's going to go on another show.
Speaker 2 (01:59:13):
