Speaker 1 (00:00):
I did feel to get out there for that first
NFL game.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
I felt great. A little nervous, but it felt great.
Speaker 1 (00:05):
Did it settle down when you got that first catch?
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Yeah, definitely set it down when I got the first catch.
Really when the first place started? Alright, I set it
settled down.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
So was it what you kind of expected it to be?
Or is your head running a miles a thousand miles
an hour at all?
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Nah? Nah, my head wasn't running a thousand dollars. But
I I was a little nervous at first, but after
the first player, I was good.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
How would you Agrede?
Speaker 4 (00:23):
How you did out there today? Uh?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
I did pretty good. I I feel like if you
had more opportunities, who would to you would have showed
them what we could really good.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
When was the last time you've been nervous for a game?
Speaker 2 (00:32):
I get nervous before every game. So when you get here? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Yeah? What a what about speedy hit the.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Game compared to where you were coming from?
Speaker 5 (00:40):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Uh I got no coming on now?
Speaker 6 (00:45):
Trap If you were the first guy to get the
cam after that field, go, what was what was going
through your buying one?
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (00:49):
I seen him do it in Walmar. It was actually
earlier today, and I see him doing in practice a lot,
so I was soper excited to see him doing in
the game.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
Seven year a field goal. That's something crazy to kind
of be a part of, right, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
That's the crazy. I can't even kick probably twenty So.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
How long would that?
Speaker 7 (01:05):
How long would that mistackle stick in your head?
Speaker 2 (01:08):
How long would a stick?
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Yeah, you're able to flush it right away.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
We could flush it right away and just get back,
get back to business and you know what I gotta
do next one.
Speaker 6 (01:16):
You feel like you did it, You feel like you
did a good job of covering when the one made
that sad cause he looked your way and then there's
nothing there.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah, yeah, I definitely did a good job covering. I
feel like if you had thought it definitely would have
been an interception. But he seen me come down on this,
so he just he ate it, he ate the sad.
How much do you guys have to clean up?
Speaker 6 (01:36):
You think offense final it was just one drive, But
how much we can leave out there on that first ride?
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Yeah, we just gotta go back and go to work.
You know, stuff inflicting wounds, We just gotta clean up
and just we know what we can do. So we
just gotta continue to do that and make the projects
that we need to make.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
But you're used to playing so much as it tough
to be in a game like this one when you're
pretty much done after the first quarter.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Uh No, it's not tough because I want to see
you know, some of my other teammates go to work
and you know, earn a spot and do their thing. Person.
Speaker 8 (02:03):
Yeah, it's good to get back out there, just to
be live game setting. You know, it felt good, feel
good to be back out there. Some stuff to clean up,
you know, operationally, a couple of penalties, you know, especially
our drive to start the game, got behind the sticks
early first play obviously penalty and then gotten second and
first or second and long with the later penalty in
the drive. So some of that stuff to clean up
(02:25):
just setting us back a little bit of having to
try to get back on track. But I hope there
were some good stuff out there. Like always, like I said,
there'll be a lot of stuff to learn from the
tape and we'll learn from it.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Was that first drive enough to kind of get your
feet wet and back in the flow of things.
Speaker 8 (02:38):
Yeah, I mean it's like these games. You know, you
know you're not gonna play much. It's kind of like
you want you get in a rhythm, or you want
to get in a rhythm, and then it's just so short,
like you know, sometimes it's hard to get in the flow.
So it'd have been nice to obviously, once you get
out there and get playing, you want to keep going.
But I think we're doing the right thing being smart,
eting guys healthy, and but it was good I think
just to see the offense go in a real game
setting live, you know, protect shin run game finishing, and
(03:02):
then obviously all the procedures and penalties when you get
out there, all that stuff is magnified, all the little
mistakes that sometimes are always caught in practice because you
don't always have you know, the full official deal. So
I think that was a good, you know, good thing
for us to see is like, hey, this stuff is
you know, critical, and it can set a drive back
if you have a big penalty and playing behind the chains.
Speaker 6 (03:22):
Late level is to have Cam knowing that he's gotten
unlove range. I mean, does that does it does that
help you play call Lives? Does it helped situationally to
know that you've got three points in your pocket now.
Speaker 8 (03:34):
Yeah, it's unbelievable, especially with the new you know, the
new kickoff deal more returns you know, quits to typically
a better field position and then if it goes in
the ends and you get out the thirty five, I
mean with him, you're it's an I I mean, you're
what is that ten yards away from a field goal?
I mean, I don't think we're going to be next
seconking seventy yarders in the first quarter or anything like that,
So we'd like to get him a little closer. But
(03:54):
unbelievable to see.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Him make that. I mean, he's he's an awesome, awesome guy, awesome.
Speaker 8 (03:58):
Player obviously, but yeah, that's huge, especially those two minute
drills when you feel like if you can get it
near the fifty, you got.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
A really good shot. You know, have a guy like
that's a weapon.
Speaker 7 (04:08):
First time you've been hit, I think since December, since
the hit here, it does it feel good to get
that and just brush it off and go back to yeah,
being normal.
Speaker 8 (04:16):
Yeah, that's like, like like I said at first, you know,
for me, just getting back out there where you can't
get hit, you don't have the red jersey on and
fill in the pass rush kind of settling in there,
and guys are a great job up front.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
You know.
Speaker 8 (04:26):
The one time I did get hit, I kind of
scrambled off the middle and you know, they did a
nice job. But yeah, it feels good to That's that's
real game stuff, you know, getting hit and not having
the red jersey on.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
So it was nice to be back out there. Intentional
is up to get everybody a touch.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
I think you got them.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
All for the ball.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Yeah, you know, it's it is intentional.
Speaker 8 (04:44):
We have so many playmakers you want to get them
all involved and early and like guys get the rock
and do something with it. So I think that is
intentional for sure. And then there's times where the ball
just kind of finds finds guys more than others. I
think in games like this, obviously you want to see
you want to spread the ball, you want to get
guys touches, get him going, kind of see what.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
To what we can do. But I thought the guy's
a nice job. Obviously we had the one drive, so
it's hard to really.
Speaker 8 (05:08):
Evaluate beyond that, but yeah, I thought the guys did
a good job when their number was called.
Speaker 5 (05:13):
Do you benefit at all from even watching that last
two minute drill and what you would do and kind
of simulate in your mind what you like to call
and all.
Speaker 8 (05:21):
That for sure, because it's the same offense. You know,
obviously it's not me and it's not the ones out
there running it, but it's the same offense. You're hearing,
I'm hearing Liam call it, I'm hearing how he's calling
at the tempo, kind of what he's thinking. And you
take all those mental notes throughout the game of just
what we're doing. And obviously you're not game playing necessarily
for the preseason, but those situations are crucial to hear
how he's calling it and to play it, trying to
(05:43):
play it as real as I can from the sideline
and just bank extra reps. I think that's the biggest thing,
is watching every play and trying to see, you know,
what decision I'd make on different plays.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
Was there ever a doubt you can't lie.
Speaker 9 (05:54):
There's probably a little bit of that, But I mean,
read attempted a lot of long field goals in training
camp on the opportunity. A couple of times they had
some sixty sixty five plus this before, and so you know,
I really wanted to just go out there and see
what would get I mean, we you know, kind of
arrange I guess you could say. And so I wanted
to go out there and see what we could do
and ended up going over there, right, So it was
(06:14):
pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
How much confidence I mean, does that give you that
the coach, that coach Cone even has the confidence to
send you out there for that a lot?
Speaker 3 (06:22):
You know, I was kind of me and Logan were like,
we want to kick it.
Speaker 9 (06:25):
We want to kick and so when he gave me
the opportunity was obviously, you know, you go out there
and you want to at least make sure you get
there to make sure it's like okay, well we're not
gonna throw them back out there for another deep field,
but like that.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
But we went out there and adrenaline is a beautiful thing.
But yeah, we went out there and executed.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
Was this celebration like the sideline cleared for you.
Speaker 9 (06:43):
Gosh, dude, it was like I was playing soccer again.
I I don't really like, I don't celebrate over cacks
a lot, but.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
That one was one. I was like, okay, I got too.
Speaker 6 (06:50):
It's like crazy that that we got that electric for preseason.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Yeah, it was pretty electric, which I mean credit to
our fans.
Speaker 9 (06:57):
That's pretty sick that we made a good showing tonight
and obviously is really loud.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
So I was so sick. I felt like I was
a regular season game.
Speaker 7 (07:03):
If you kicked your phone, what's it looked? What's it
looked like? From a blow up standpoint.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
I didn't even check the text, honestly, I just saw
it and I scrolled through. I was like, oh gosh,
here we go.
Speaker 9 (07:12):
So yeah, I saw him half time. Yeah, he was
just like, dude, I was in the bathroom when you
kicked it, so yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
He's like, man, I didn't get to see it, but
he's like, dude, I heard you smash it. I was like, honestly,
I couldn't see that far.
Speaker 9 (07:26):
It was flying him too tall, so I couldn't really
see over him. And when Logan's eyes got really big,
he was like, start freaking out. Yeah, look, yeah, you
can see that was a pudder right there. But it
was about the older one who thought it was gold dude.
And uh so I caught it really good, obviously, but
I don't know how much better I could kick it.
Speaker 7 (07:42):
I don't how much further I can kick it with
that one so it would have been good from probably
seventy three to seventy four.
Speaker 9 (07:47):
Right, Really, I haven't I haven't seen I haven't even
seen the kick. So I've just watched the beginning of
it and I went showering. Now I'm here, So but
take a look at it. See how long it would
have been good for the fifty two year order at
the end hard kind of yes, I feel like yes
and no. It's like I go out there for a
routine field goal. I was, you know, joking with someone
at hot time. I was like, now you go out
(08:08):
there in a forty six. There's a lot more pressure
on that forty six because I know if you can
make from back there, you should make it them right here.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
But no, I think that was a pretty routine kick
and it's good.
Speaker 9 (08:15):
I'm glad I got the opportunity to kick those because
when you get those opportunities lay in the fourth quarter,
even when you know you need it to you know,
get a chance to win a game. I like, you know,
because those obviously situations are gonna come up regular season
a lot. So good opportunity to go out there. Needed
a deep field goal to get us in a touchdown
range and you know, we made.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
It, so it was good pressure. There's a routine now
we knew. Yeah, I mean for if you really look
at it like that.
Speaker 9 (08:40):
Yeah, in the NFL, it is now you see like
guys like obviously no Boswell then kicked tonight for Pittsburgh,
but you.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
See how many I mean He's going out there in first.
Speaker 9 (08:47):
Quarter hitting fifty eight orders. Brandon Aubrey for the Cowboys
going out there kicking sixty three orders in the first quarter.
So yeah, I think it's you know, it's expected. I
was now, which is a good thing and a bad thing.
It takes your talent still lot so, but.
Speaker 7 (08:59):
Yeah, like pressure now like you got to make a
seventy yarder in the real season.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Yeah, one hundred percent.
Speaker 9 (09:04):
And I feel like it's it's not really a pressure,
it's more of just you got to expect. I mean,
the bar is just getting set so much higher for
kickers from high school to college and now for college
is the NFL. So I think it's just evolving and
guys are just being able to hit the ball so
much further, Like you'd be surprised. There's a lot of
guys around the league that could hit at that distance.
It's all about, you know, keeping it straight. So yeah,
(09:26):
the bar is definitely set higher. And you know there's
probably gonna be a guy this season that's gonna go
out there and kick a seventy plus order if I
would have bring one money on it.
Speaker 8 (09:35):
Well, you said you haven't.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Looked at the video yet, but have you looked at
your phone to see.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
How many mess texts you have? Yeah? I was just
telling them. It's just like it was like, oh gosh,
here we go.
Speaker 9 (09:43):
No, no, I'm not gonna be able to get all
of them, but I felt them feel bad for some
guys because I'm.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Not gonna be able to scroll all the way down there.
I don't want to. We were wanted to text all night, so.
Speaker 5 (09:51):
I can't said you were feel You did soccer high
school and it's so much harder now for a lot
of kids to go from the high school level because
they're really kickers. But what once is playing soccer a
big factor in the growth to go to the college
level and then maybe to the pros one day.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
Yeah, I think.
Speaker 9 (10:12):
Even when I was younger playing soccer, I liked penalty
kicks a lot. I liked being like there in the
moment I had to make an opportunity, like I had
to make a play.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
I feel like I liked those moments sometimes, and so
I think that.
Speaker 9 (10:23):
Probably gave me some confidence going into high school and college.
But I've always had big faith, even when I was
you know, I can't even remember this back because I
was growing up going to church my whole life. So
as kind of like I started, you know, getting more
precious situations where I had, you know, sixty seventy thousand
people watching me. I knew that whether I made the
kick or missed the kick, like I knew God's will
(10:44):
was gonna you know, prevail. I knew that I was
gonna be okay, He's already been decided if I made
it or missed the kick.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
And so when I go.
Speaker 9 (10:51):
Out there, I was actually talking to Daniel Thomas about
that earlier today. Kind of crazy that this opportunity to
came about. But regardless if I make or missed that kick,
like I know, I'm out there for a bigger purpose,
and that's to serve my creator.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
Is a bigger bummer that it's not going to count
because it was.
Speaker 9 (11:06):
A yeah it does, it does suck, but you know,
I mean, you just gotta go out there and make
it again, right.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
But yeah, I was talking to Dylan. I was like, dude,
does that count And he's like, no, it doesn't. So
it's unfortunate. You still keep the ball. Yeah, I'm keeping
that ball. Heck yeah keeping Yeah, I'm kind of said
