Speaker 1 (00:00):
A couple of injury updates for you. Uh, Buster Brown's

(00:02):
got a left lower leg. You do not expect him
back in training camp? Okay, Luis has lower back out today,
Johnny Munt upper body injury out today, Patrick McCary lower
back out, Tooting Hammy out today. And then the puff
guys you know on track, Dennis Gardex on track no update,

(00:25):
and same thing with Mason Smith.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
On track no update. So that's I just want to
hit you guys with some of that info. Cool any
of those expected to be like Lucari or to longer
term or no, yeah I can't, no, no, no, no no.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
How does that kind of change things?

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:41):
For you guys, I think just gives us an opportunity
to get guys reps, you know what I mean. We
expect him back for uh the season obviously, and so
gives a great op for Jaron Jones obviously, Travis to
continue to get quality reps, and Trey Prince and some
of these guys to continue to get rab Zach mcpheerson
and saying with Christian Brad as well.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
So it just gives us ops.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Yeah, it's a bummer a little bit for for Buster.
I love Buster but it is always when anytime that happens,
it is completely a new window and opportunity for somebody else.
So the reps are quality for us. First day, yeah,
I was pleased, you know, I thought that the offense
came out and kind of set the tone a little
bit offensively in the run game throughout the.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Course of the day.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Now there was still some good plays here and there
on both sides, but it was pleased to see physicality
but taking care of one another. Like it didn't get
sloppy or uh stupid it it was just good quality work.
We put the pads on. That doesn't mean we have
to cheap shot each other or do anything ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
And I thought it was just good.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Quality work from both sides and got our first day
of pads in more tomorrow, But yeah, I would think
I would think, yeah, we cut it a little bit
short today. You know, we got the good work that
we wanted in. Pads were limited to the time when
you do put the pads on, and the last thing
I wanted to do was, you know, make it sloppy
just by adding another you know.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Twelve to twelve plays or so.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
So tomorrow, yeah, we'll probably keep that period that we
had up today and be able to get a little.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Bit extra work. Yes, it'll be full pads.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Yeah, yeah, you know, I think it's obviously a work
in progress, but I thought through the first five practices
there's been strides made, right, so it's a group that's
still getting to know each other. When you with the
old line, it's so imperative that they play as one
and communicate as one, and I think that they've done

(02:38):
a nice job of that so far, from a targeting standpoint,
making sure that we're on the right IDs and and
with the protections, I thought they did a nice job
today as well protecting the quarterback. So so I've been pleased.
You know, it's still a work in progress, but please,
so far, how much of.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
An impact there's Hainesy just having the knowledge of the
offense got to help the rest.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Of the guys. It's huge, you know, having Robert has
been huge, to have somebody that obviously you know, has
been in the system, but also has had to make
the adjustments that can occur within the system. Right we
have a specific play call versus a specific front. Well
maybe you know, obviously the other four guys have not
seen that within this play or that concept. So he

(03:18):
has had that experience, been able to make adjustments on
the fly and ultimately communicate what we're trying to get done.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
So that's been a blessing.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
You know, you get a feel for the run game
and practices, you get to be in games.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Your are I think ultimately needed be in a game.
I think because right we're not playing tackle, so you
don't know when a ball breaks to the second level,
are we going to make that.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Safety or corner miss or are we going to get tackled? Right,
That's ultimately what you don't know.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
But I think you can look at the combinations up front,
the communication, our tracks, the fundamentals and techniques in which
we're approaching it at and see some improvement.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
You were talking about Trevor Spoor the other day.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
You talked about switching.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Which he has shotgun. He's had more significance change.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
I mean, yeah, you know, ultimately, even when you have
your right foot up as a quarterback, you're you know,
slightly moving your left as a punch step. And so
if you just flip it and we call it goofy
foot and put your left foot up and you punch.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
First, it's very it's just this, it's very similar.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
It's just which foot is up first from a rhythm standpoint,
But no, it's new for him. So yeah, it is
a development for sure, and so it's something that you know,
it was his decision. He wanted to do it when
he came to us in the spring or you know,
in the wintertime, and you know, it's kind of a
trend with a lot of the guys in the NFL
going the left foot up.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
It's just a.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Comfort thing and helps with some of the rhythm and
the quick game and some of the on time and
in rhythm passing.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
So definitely a.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Work in progress still, but I thought he had a
better day today.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Has he been pretty consistent with that?

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Yeah, I mean I think he's definitely had some like
down on the goal line the other day when we
were in the outcut to Diami that got batt down
by Jordan Lewis, he took.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
The wrong feet, the wrong footwork.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
You know a couple of things where he's mixed up
the feet the footwork at times.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
But that's part of it.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Like that's very normal, it's not like completely abnormal. So
you know, today I did think that he got his
feet better planned to where he's trying to throw the ball.
That's something that we're continuously working on.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Team, Like Darnell.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Savage has been close to a few big plays the
last couple of dayses, what have you seen it?

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Kind of camps up party.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Heay, he's athletic man, He's got range, he's got athleticism,
he can run around. He does like he's been really
good in the meeting rooms with some of the communication.
It's just a matter of like, it's really hard to
evaluate safeties, especially in this setting, because you know, ultimately
are they going to come down fill and make tackles.
They are truly called safeties for a reason. They're the
last line of defense. So when a ball does break

(05:50):
out to the second and third levels, are we able
to take the proper angles, use the proper leverage, and
go actually get the guy on the ground. So that's
the hard thing to evaluate out here. But I've been
pleased with him so far.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Ok, just Walker little making.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Yeah, I think.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Walker first few days I thought he was man. He
was really on yesterday, you know, Josh got him a
few times, and I thought he came back out today
though with a mindset of man I'm just gonna be
a little bit more patient with my hands and with
my punch. You know, he's punching a little bit too
soon yesterday, just getting.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
A little overextended.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
But you know, I've been pleased with him, man, He's
his demeanor has been the same in terms of just
the way that he handles himself and approaches it. And
I think he's been doing a good job getting some
removal in the run game when we're asking him to.
How much does help the tackles going against guys like
Josh or Trayvony.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yeah, it's huge.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
I mean, those guys obviously are can go, right, they
can go. And anytime you have good on good, we're
trying to create an edge and sharpen our edge and
that's going to do that for us every single day.
And then hey, you get to move those guys down
when Trayvon goes down inside at a four I or
at a three technique, now he's rushing on the guard
and those guys are getting to work. But it's really
important for us to continue that. We're going to see

(06:59):
a lot of good pass for us in this league,
as we know, and for us to be able to
you know, win more than not. That's the goal, you know,
when you're playing that position.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
What did you for?

Speaker 4 (07:07):
What have you learned about Trayvon personality wise or that
maybe he didn't know when you first got there.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Well, he's very serious, you know, but also has just
a very genuine, honest way of approaching conversation.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
You know.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
He asks a lot of quick He'll ask me questions
that not a lot of players will ask, and it's
of a Now I'm not saying it's more mature than others,
but it is for a younger player.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
He just has a.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Good feel for people, for the team, for the guys,
and just ultimately what he wants to accomplish in his
career and for this team.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
So I've been pleased.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
He's kind of stoic that way, and I think he's
a little bit wise beyond his years in some ways
in terms of age. But man, he had a really
good practice yesterday. I gotta watch the one today. I
don't feel like we maybe got quite as much, but
the ball was coming out maybe a little bit more
today than it has been.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
So but I been very pleased.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
I like Trayon a lot on the lights. Oh dude,
he oh yeah, I saw that on the duo. Yeah,
he was standing up and Travis is in a tight
bunch when we're running duo and Travis has to go
black Jordan Lewis, who's kind of stacked behind Trayvon. I
just saw Trayvon continuing to widen out and just put
his hands right in Travis's head. And no, it was good.

(08:21):
It was It was good for Travis. He goes, hey,
he took himself out of the play. So good answer.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Sorry to go back to it.

Speaker 5 (08:27):
But speaking of Travis, you talked about his timeline and
the mapped out. Does the buster not going to be
a camp change in it?

Speaker 1 (08:36):
You know, we're not going to alter it. We we
you know, I think what will happen, you know, where
he's on offense, he'll go back to defense before our
mock game scrimmage, you know, and be able to kind
of use that mock as an evaluation to see what
do we need to do now right, what did it
look like in the scrimmage. Do we need to maybe

(08:57):
get him more on defense, or hey man, these other
guys are you know, producing and developing and we can
keep what the schedule as is. That'll be kind of
a not a defining moment, but an evaluation time.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
For us in the market.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
No, yeah, good.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
I mean I think d ham Man when he plays
rooted and keeps his cleats in the ground and comes
out with a flat back and he can get that
knock back and push. He's difficult at times, as you
guys know, to move inside.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
But you know d Ham's a pro. He does everything right.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
You watch him in the walkthroughs in the in all
those settings when they're working on their stunts and games
and pressures.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
He's very locked in.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
He's very serious about his craft and you know he's
going to have to play really well for us inside
as we all know.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
And that he really wants Anton and his consistency.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Yeah, we have definitely for the for the first few
I've been I've been very pleased with with Anton and
you know we've mentioned that to him and I asked him,
you know the other day in the hall, I said, Hey,
is this going to be every day? Is this how
it's going to be every single day? And you know
he was very adamantly yes, and so we and that's
what we have seen. So for him to take a

(10:12):
step in the right direction in our eyes for sure.
I think is only going to help us moving forward
because he's so talented and when he plays locked in,
he plays with great effort and he strains through the end.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
The echo of the whistle. Good things typically happen than coach.
I think, yeah, thank you guys.

Speaker 6 (10:29):
It's good to be back, going to be back bagging
working on stuff, working on real football, and like being
all the user the technique and fundamentals that you actually
use when you go into a game.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
So excited to give me rolling again.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
How is your first camp in Jacksonville, GA?

Speaker 4 (10:44):
So far? Over All?

Speaker 3 (10:46):
So far, we're good. I mean, been what five days now?

Speaker 6 (10:48):
And the beginning of camp is interesting because you keep
progressing and progressing, and the days get a little.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
Bit harder and a little bit harder, you throw pads on.

Speaker 6 (10:56):
The days get longer and longer, and then once you
get in it, you're kind of just in.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
It, focusing. So so far, these first five days have
been great.

Speaker 6 (11:03):
I think we've gotten a lot of great work in
offensively and defensively, and especially in the offensive line room.
You can tell we're improving communication wise, technique wise.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
So far, it's been a great start.

Speaker 5 (11:14):
See seemed like you guys kind of got after the
defensive line first, nampas obviously, just how would you assess
how you guys did today?

Speaker 6 (11:22):
It felt good out there, but you know it's never
as good, never as good as you think, and never
as bad as you think. You got to go watch
the film, see what you can improve, see what you
can do better at So looking forward to seeing what
I'm gonna work on tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Was wi Liam different as a head coach than an
offense supportant.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
He talks more, but.

Speaker 6 (11:41):
No, I think he's done a really good job. He's
the same guy I knew in Tampa.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Which is awesome. He didn't change.

Speaker 6 (11:48):
He's being himself completely and he's preaching and telling us
what he truly believes. And it's been cool to kind
of watch him grow and having been one of the
few people that have a previous relationship with him, and
a good one at that, Like, I've enjoyed watching him
take on this role as head coach and lead the
group and the team and instill his principles and his
culture and watching.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
Other guys buy into that.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
What was it like?

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Let me not reaction with him over there saying, oh man,
they got you about the podium today.

Speaker 6 (12:15):
He's ridiculous. He's a fun guy and that's what's awesome. Like,
we had such a great time last year with the
group that we had, and he it doesn't take himself
super seriously. It's okay to mess with him, jab out
of them, hope fun and complain out of him, especially
now because he makes all the decisions. So like I've
been having fun with that and other guys have to
when you realize that's that's who he is. But at

(12:36):
the end of the day, he's bringing what he thinks
we need and we all get behind that.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
What's gonna help us improve as a team?

Speaker 4 (12:44):
On his line? How long does it take to get chemistry, cohesion,
all that the process?

Speaker 3 (12:50):
You know, it's different for every group.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
I think every day you should be we'll be taking
steps forward. We haven't played a game together yet, so
whenever we get that opportunity, that will present a whole
new set of things to kind of work on.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
But so far, in practice, you.

Speaker 6 (13:05):
Know, we've been moving one day at a time, one
play at the time, just learning what each other likes,
how we kind of do things, how we operate together,
and those are the kind of things that on the
offensive line will grow and allow us to play seamlessly
as five guys.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
Like looking through one set of eyes.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
You up the running game went for your bottom of
the league get tamped near the top because one year.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
Yeah, what happened? How did you do that?

Speaker 2 (13:31):
How did they do that?

Speaker 4 (13:32):
And do you see that the building blocks of being
able to do something here?

Speaker 3 (13:36):
Yeah? I think how do we do that?

Speaker 6 (13:39):
As there's a loathly question because it takes everyone to
run the football, especially on offense. It's not just the coaches,
it's not just the scheme, it's not just the players.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
It's everything working in conjunction.

Speaker 6 (13:50):
And I do see that here. I see that being
the calling card. They're emphasizing it. That's what they want
this offense to be because it's important in any offense,
but this one specifically to be able to run the
ball to set up everything else to play action. In
the past, I see a lot of similarities between how
we transitioned in Tampa and how they're transitioning out. Granted

(14:11):
I wasn't here before, but just I guess it kind
of feels the same. It is the best I can
describe it, and that's a positive thing for me. That's
exciting because it was a lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
To watch that run game grow. I mean, you look
at that last year. We were.

Speaker 6 (14:26):
Started off fine three and one, then we're like four
and seven, and then we made them, made it run
at the end, and like it's not overnight.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
It doesn't just happen.

Speaker 6 (14:34):
Like you have to keep going and keep going, keep going.
We're gonna have to do that here no matter what.
We don't know how the season's gonna go. But it's
one game at a time, one play at a time,
and keep trusting the process, trust each other, the guys
around us, the coaches, everything, and that's how you can
kind of continue consistently grow throughout the season.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
It seems like this scheme, the defense are throwing a
lot at you guys on the line scream mentioned.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
Is that kind of what you've seen as well?

Speaker 6 (14:56):
Yeah, yeah, they got a lot of stuff going. I
mean first days, they got a lot of stuff in.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
But that's great for us.

Speaker 6 (15:02):
I mean, that's kind of what you want to you know,
makes you adjust, makes you practice things.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
So it's been it's been. It's been good to practice
against that different in the huddle than Baker.

Speaker 5 (15:13):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
I mean, I mean that's a good question.

Speaker 6 (15:17):
I mean, they're just different guys to begin with, so
everyone's gonna have their little nuances. But the way he
commands the huddle, the way he's learning this offense, taking
it and stride and making sure everyone knows what they're doing.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
He's a true leader and a great one.

Speaker 6 (15:30):
I love the way he takes over when he walks in,
everyone's locked in on him, making sure guys are ready
for whatever they're gonna have, making sure we know everything
we need to know for that play going forward, and
that's in the huddle, outside the huddle, just in general,
he's He's been awesome to get to know, a great leader,
great quarterback. It's been a lot of fun get the
word with him, and I look forward to like the
rest of the year too. With that, we're gonna keep

(15:51):
getting closer and keep getting better on that front.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
Thank you, guys,
