Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to a rapid fire edition of Rams revealed. We've
got a short week, as you know, back at SOFI
Stadium to face the San Francisco forty nine Ers this
Thursday night in prime time. Hey, game ball goes out
to all of you who are in attendance in Inglewood
to see the Rams beat the Colts, hand India's first
loss of the season. Everyone we talked to, including today's
guest Tyler Davis, said you were a difference maker in

(00:21):
that win. Well, thanks so much for being here on
a short week, but it is a victory. Monday, let's
reflect back on that come from behind victory against the Colts.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
What are your memories?

Speaker 3 (00:36):
It was crazy game, just just going through everything. You know,
defense came out with a stop, you know, got to
tow the ball and the rest is history.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
Yeah, this is a crazy game.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
How great was the home crowd?

Speaker 4 (00:51):
It was amazing.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
I was like, WHOA like they I guess they heard
what they was the same thing said about them about
the pumping the crowd noise. But they they definitely they
definitely got got right up.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
So you had seen the cam bin them clip before
that game. Yeah, we had the whole locker room seeing it.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
I think, so I think we have all right, Yeah,
we definitely have.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Let's say if they can bring that same energy against
the Niners.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Parson Night Football, Right, we're gonna need it.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Let's take into a couple of specifics, and I want
to start with that sudden change situation early fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Right, it's a one score game.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
There's that myssedic exchange between Matthew and Kyron and your
defense has to go back out there. We're all thinking,
if the defense can just blow up here and keep
them to a field goal, Rams still have a chance.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
What was that like through your lens.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Just you know, just taking them one play at a time.
You know, we can't do with you know, we can't
we can't be on the pass. You know, we just
gotta just get a stop with the team needed so
and that's what we did, and you did.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
You hate to give up any points, but when you
keep them to three, you go back to the sideline thinking.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
What great job, But we got to make another stop
this when they go we know, office, go go back there,
go back down score and we gotta make a stop
to steal the game.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
And they sure did.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
All right, Let's start with the Pooka touchdown drive as
a defensive player, where are you sitting? Where you hanging
out as you watch Matthew march down the field?

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Us to hang out on the bench, and then we
passed fifty, I get up and start seeing greatness for
a out of staff or pookah for a They they
got mad at touch right now.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
It's it's it's crazy.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Puca seems to go back to the locker room once
again to get fixed up some bumper, bruised, stitch, you
name it, and then just pops right back in there.
What can you say about his first month?

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Just a warrior, you know, he's everything.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
He's been pushing through with all the bunchs and bruises,
you know, the first game playing with snitches, you know,
and then coming back this game having one seventy with
I don't know what he hurt, but he's just amazing.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Do you watch on the Infinity screen, like, do you
find yourself looking up or trying to follow it live?

Speaker 4 (02:58):
I'm I'm in between, you know.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Uh sometimes I look up sometimes I uh sometimes I
be watching f uh from the field.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
And then two twos touchdown. I mean to go out
there and think, hey, Matthew's gonna go win this, I'm
sure right, but to do it on one play.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah, yeah, that's that's math stat for real. You know
he you know, he really don't get talked about that much,
but he's he's he's one of the best quarterbacks in
the league.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
What I love is seeing you celebrate your teammates. And
I think as great a game as Pooka had his
celebration for two twos touchdown is my lasting memory from
from that game? Is that a sign of of chemistry, camaraderie, love,
Like take us inside the locker.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Room when you see Rams celebrating Rams.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Yeah, it's something about this team, like this is just
it's special. You know, we have a you know, we
got a great community with this team, and it's it
it's fun like it's it's really like it's fun to
go to. You know, it's not even considered, you know,
this m our job, but this is it was more
than a job. It's it was fun like it's I'm

(04:00):
happy to be here. I can tell Haavy team.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
I can tell alright, enough for the offense, let's talk
to defense now. Cam Curl has been in a long
interception drought. I don't know if you know this, but
he like burst on the scene in Washington as a rookie,
had a small handful of picks and then he hasn't.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Had one since.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
So to get to yesterday his first two as a ram,
what was that like?

Speaker 2 (04:18):
To witness?

Speaker 3 (04:19):
It was great? You know what, chr funny story. I
tried to try to get a block on a but
on a on a return cause I thought he was
I thought he was gonna score.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
But ch I I try to get a block.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
But yeah, he it's been great, you know, having him
back there and you know he don't he don't get
talked about much, but all the you know, all the
stuff that he does in a run game and in
the past game, just have it wherever. It's like a
a racer tackle where the d where we woulda running
back get past second level and he tackles a guy

(04:50):
and don't get talked about it.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
But all that stuff is big.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
So the f fact that he's he got two picks yesterday,
it's just amazing.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
I think you phrased it as you try I had
to get a block. Does that mean you didn't quite connect?

Speaker 4 (05:02):
Yeah, I couldn't connect.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
I was in that great area of if it's a
crap bag or not.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
So I didn't get it.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
He was down by content.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
So now that we got Carol one and two, I
think Captain Q's gotta be next.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Oh yeah, do you feel that too?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Yes, he's playing great.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
He's playing amazing. Like every it's every game he's making
him play well.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
That's a big time past breakup or a big time
tackle for loss.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
Again, he's playing amazing.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
He's checking all the boxes except for the pick. I
know it's coming.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
No, it's gonna come. It's gonna come a bunch of
too for him, I believe it.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
What kind of season are you happing? How do you
feel you've played so far?

Speaker 3 (05:43):
I reme, I feel like I played good. You know,
I'm just enjoying my role during being part of this
great d line we have with fish poona Kobe, you know,
merch tie, you know, just having a great room being around.
Then you got people on the it's like Byron Uh, Jared,
Josiah and Nick d.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
It's a great it's it's it's just fun.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Nicely done.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
I think he got them all. But specific to your role,
how would you describe it?

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Just somebody to come in just I really just wanna
keep up playing to the standard that you know that's
been set by Kobe, Fist and Poona. Just play up
today's standard, you know, no let down and do my world,
do my job.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
You know what really caught my attention, Tyler is during
training camp we were talking with Braden you know, finishes
third and defensive Rookie of the Year voting. He leads
his team in sacks last year, and almost unprompted, he says,
you know who the unsung hero of our defense was
last year, Tyler Davis. Watch out for him in year two.
Does it mean to you to hear something like that
from someone of his stature?

Speaker 4 (06:51):
It is a great, you know, great feeling. No, he don't.
He don't really get talked about enough in this defense too.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Just the way he go about his work, go out
of the business, and just the effort he plays with
down and down out like f like Tennessee. He played
with a obleaque I had I had obleak this this
uh training Cavin put me down. But the fact that
he was able to go out there and give you
thirteen plays and thirteen miniful plays is amazing.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
I think he had a half a sack somewhere along
the way. But to get your first full one to
top this schedule against the Houston Texans, what was that
moment like for you?

Speaker 3 (07:27):
It was great, you know, get get it, uh getst
CZ show. It was a great feeling. It was, you know,
gotta work on a little celebration. I feel like I
gotta work on a little bit. But it's it's it
was a great feeling.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
You would like that moment back, Yeah, what you do differently,
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
I don't know. I think it was it was I
was in between two.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
I think I should have chose the ladder though, but
I should have chose my second one.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
You got caught in between the cellist.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
Mm.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
It's too bad.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
But I mean you're not just competing against the the
team across from you. You're competing against all those names
you mentioned, all those sack hunters. So to get one
mean you're beating a lot of really good pass rushers.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
To the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Yeah yeah, yeah, but yeah, we we go see by
the end of the year. But they I know, cause
I know they're they're coming bunches for them.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
For sman Byron's getting one a week, Yes.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
He is he is balling right now.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Alright, let's dig inside that uh defensive line group a
little bit. I wanna know about the personalities and how
you fit in with the likes of the Conductor and
Puna and Braiden.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
We started with Kobe, you know, the leader of the
D line. He's you know, fun guy, you know, fun
always t really himself no matter where, no matter where
he at, was gonna be himself. And it starts with
him for real. Got Braiden, Uh, he kind of he's
fun too, like he's he kind of he kind of

(08:48):
a little bit quiet, but he's he's funny. He's definitely funny.
I always got the jokes, always something. And then he
got poorer. You know, he's also quiet. I think we
got a lot of quiet people in our room, but.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
Around us.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Microphones when it's it's it's a it's a fun it's
a fun room. It's just I think it's because we
all kind of similar, like we all we all kind
of get each other like what we thinking and we
just laugh. And really you got pe like Merch he's
kind of like our glue guy. Like he he's somebody

(09:24):
that's just gonna he'd say something crazy and it just
make all of us laugh. But he having him and
they got tired of young guy. You know, he he
coming along. He Uh, he's fun. He's funny too. He
put his little two cent and everything and it's just
a fun room to being.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
You were telling me earlier today that you and Pune
actually go back away. It's like, give us that backstory
and then what do you think when you saw the
Rams signing this offseason?

Speaker 4 (09:51):
Uh, I thought I was gonna it's gonna be a
great addition.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
I know he's a baller like f even like when
he was at the Charges in the Seahawks, like he
was bothering now. But yeah, we had a uh his
high school coach invited me to a camp in Beeford,
South Carolina, and he stow.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
Having to be there, and we talked a little bit.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
We didn't even taught that much, but then we had
uh we both knew this guy that we trained with,
uh cast Middleton, and he he had trained with me
and then he had trained Poling and then like once
he signed, we was like, well we just train together.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
Well, so it was it was it was fun.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
It is he one of those players. He was a
little bit ahead of you in the league.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
But you see, like based on body type, stature, play, stole,
whatever it is, gives you belief that you can make
it work at this level.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
Oh yeah, for sure.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
You know Poona is he you know, he was an
underdog for real going on drafted, you know, being unders
considered undersized, but he plays real big, big time. So
just knowing you can do anything.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
I know.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
We already left the winner of the coach back.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
I go back to one thing cause it just popped
in my mind this view of of Jared Vers going
like full Dennis Rodman, you know, as he bullrushes the
center like as someone who plays over the ball a
lot of your days.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
What was that?

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Now? That was crazy? That was just.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
That got the defense really fired up for real because
him to do that, and he's been talking about doing
that all week. Yeah yeah, So for him to go
out there and do that and disrupted to play and
we get the big stop, it was great.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
So when the Rams signed Pooned in, when they add
lamm into, I think a lot of us say, Okay,
this is the Rams intentionally trying to shore up their
run defense, Like year over year, they're going to be
improved in this area. When you look at what you
and the group have done against Saquon Barkley two point
six yards per carry, Jonathan Taylor another great only seventy
six total yards. How do you feel like the group

(11:50):
has done improving in that area as you get set
to face Christian McCaffrey and then Derrick Henry and on
and on down your schedule.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
I think we've done a great job, you know, I
think this is it's we still got some stuff to
improve on, but we we done a great job and
it shows like what we can be and like we
can just keep on stacking to be one of the
best run defenses in the league right now, in the
best defense.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
For and there's such a payoff, like if you do
your job on early downs, you know, it gets to
come up exactly.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
It's it always, it always ties tied into together.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
So that feeds the appetite. Let's go back to your, uh,
your early days. Tell me about a Popka Florida in
the greater Orlando area.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
Yeah, it was, it was. It was nice out there.
It's very you know, very lovely.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
You know.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Growing up my parents, Mom and dad got two older
brothers and one younger sister and you know, my dad
was my uh football coach til I got to the
eighth grade.

Speaker 4 (12:46):
So it was it was, it was fun, a great time.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Of the brothers. Were you the best football player?

Speaker 4 (12:51):
Uh? All along?

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Uh yeah, I would say so, I would say so.
They might I think we had tie growing up, though,
but I would say so.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Something tells me they played a role in your development
and achievement.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
For shure, I wasn't out. It's like I ain't have
a chance to be a baby. They always just good.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
You know, we all used to play tackle football outside
and front yard and stuff like that.

Speaker 4 (13:15):
So awesome.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
And you'll turn twenty five, this's November. Yes, awesome. What's
going on in life as you enter a new season?

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Recently got engaged, just getting ready for a wedding, so
this off.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Season, so you're getting ready, she's getting ready. Something tells
me she's leading the charge.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
She is, she definitely is, but you know, just just
having fun with it.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Amazing. And how's California suit?

Speaker 3 (13:41):
You doing great? You know, great weather, great people be around.
Just you know, there's something different. I wasn't fitting to
come here, but I'm so glad, so glad to be here.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
And between Florida. And here was your time at Clemson,
and let's talk through a few of the highlights there.
You became the first defensive player in program history to
be a four time All acc selection. Uh, you're a
perennial captain too, And I wonder what that leadership role
meant to you in Dabo's program. And do you aspire
to having to see on your chest someday in the
National Football League too?

Speaker 4 (14:14):
Yeah? So I do. But it was a great time
with Clemson.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
Uh. It was where I grew from war to a
man for show. Just being out there, you know, you know.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
Being in Clemson. It's just.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
It's just it was My cons experience was amazing, though,
I really I really loved.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
My collage experience for what's the real Death Valley?

Speaker 4 (14:41):
Oh Clemson for so.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Didn't help your case this year.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
Yeah yeah, but we we gonna we Gon'll get to
get back next year. So we got it.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
You know.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
One of your hallmarks there as a collegiate, I remember
was durability.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
Now, your position, it's tough to.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Be in there, down in and now and out week
after week, But how much.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Pride do you take in your availability as much as
your ability?

Speaker 4 (15:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (15:02):
I just I won't be availed for my teammates. So
I think that's you know, I won't be there for
my brothers. So where it is on the field, being
around the locker room, just be there for as.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
You transition to the pros.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
We're talking about the twenty four draft, and up top
I think it was your teammate and fellow defensive tackle
the top of the second round, right Rouke.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
Yes, you want to say his last name for him?
I could get there, but you guys are buddies.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Was there any part of you that was like, all right,
why is he going there? And I gotta wait another day?

Speaker 2 (15:37):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (15:38):
No, No, I think what guy had for me was
to come here.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
You know this has this has been amazing. I'm gonna
try it any anything in the world to not come here.
So it was a great fit for me.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
I'll look forward to your reunion Christmas weekend in Atlanta.
I saw this on your biography that you had a
couple of nicknames going back to your college day.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Uh baby Ducks.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
From Yeah, that's Coach Sweeney gave me that name. He said,
I look like dessin Lawrence.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
I don't. I don't see it, but it.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Is what it looks like, or players like it looks
like it looks like. Okay, what about mini fridge.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
That's another one. Uh I think that was a given
by Jeff Davis.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Uh ah a long time. Uh he he's a c
he's in a close ol of fan. But he does
Paul join you there, but he uh he said, I
look like him too.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
But yeah, uh.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
The refrigerary Perry.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
So it's a good company.

Speaker 3 (16:36):

about here in LA I don't I got TV. This
is a basic my initials right now, keep keep it clean?

Speaker 4 (16:45):
Yeah, I like it. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
What have you learned about short weeks in the National
Football League and how you turn over from a wind
Sunday to hosting the forty nine ers on Thursday night
in prime time?

Speaker 3 (16:54):
Well, get your body right, get your body right, yeah,
you know, try to watch him take pics you can,
just to get ready, be.

Speaker 4 (17:02):
Ready to go.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
What kind of opportunity is this at three and one
as you open division play against a rival.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
There's a great opportunity, especially going it's a great team,
you know, you know, team that's now has a gro
has a great offense. Another great test for his test
the defense. Nah, I know where to show up. So
it's a great jo, great jo, great too.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
We'll let you get in your playbook.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
We know that your fiance is running point on the
venues and the dates. And I wish you're all the
best in this year I had on the football field
and uh also away from it.
