He does?

Stay off ball Presented by Delta, the official airline of
the Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Now here's your host. Gen Mueller tells.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
It feels like it's been a while since we've been
with you. Gen Mueller alongside John Boyle, broadcasting from the
Seahawks Podcast Studio, presented by Sony, the official headphones partner
of the Seattle Seahawks. John, did you actually have a
bye week? Did you have some days?

Speaker 5 (00:43):
Did had all of time off? Some good family time?
It's fun, that's good.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Yeah, through the airport with kids, three kids.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
I did fly with three kids. That was less fun.

Speaker 5 (00:50):
But we flew to La It was sunny and warm
and wonderful, so hm, it was good.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
I took advantage of sweater sweater weather, can't even say it.
A lot of dominoes. It did come with a glass
or two of wine, of course, started getting into the
holiday spirit with a few movies, just just like tip toeing,
like on the edge. This is like the cheesy movie,
but it's just like it's it mentions Christmas, but it's

(01:18):
not a Christmas movie. So I'm just I'm tiptoeing towards that.
I also watched a lot of football on Sunday. That
was a great Sunday of football. I know that's right.
You were with three kids in an airport.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
My bad.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
Sorry, yeah, I mean it was a great Sunday football minus.
In fact, the Seahawks got no help in the standings,
which is challenging. I did learn something related to Tom
Brady and the San Francisco fans. Well, apparently he is
calling them San fran Yes, I did not know that

(01:52):
this is a problem.

Speaker 5 (01:53):
Oh yes, I have from San Francisco. I don't yell
at me.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
Okay, I don't understand what the deal is. But apparently
Tom Brady says this a lot during the broadcast. I
did hear it. And he's from the Bay Area. So
the Niners fans think that this is being.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Done on purpose to strolling them.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
Just I get I don't know. I think he's got
a lot on his plate right now, folks. Okay, Also,
I say san Franz all the time. We're probably just
gonna keep it.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Don't say it.

Speaker 5 (02:16):
They're you're gonna get in trouble. Although maybe all the
way maybe all the way out in Santa Clara.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
They don't care. They don't. I don't know, they don't care.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
I can't hear anything over the booming air, fog horned thing, whatever,
doesn't matter. I digress. You know what I was not
expecting when I got back to the facility and got
back to work this week. Some changes. Yeah, Like I
knew that we had the possibility of getting some guys
back from injury. You know, I know that this is
a different looking team than when we played the Niners

(02:43):
in Week six. Yeah, I did not expect to see
a couple of the.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Changes that were making.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
Most notably, the team's leading tackler and starting linebacker, Tyrel Dotson,
was waived this week to make room, presumably for Tyree
Snight to start. They haven't flat out to Claire that,
but Mike mcnoggin made it sound like the rookie will
be getting the.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
Start, and while it does seem curious because of the
number of tackles that Dodson had accumulated so far. Mike
McDonald lays out why the move was made.

Speaker 6 (03:10):
Oh, well, you know, we really appreciate t Dot. I mean,
he's it's worked extremely hard, rehabbed, you know, throughout the
off season. Here use, I think is what was an
opportunity for us when we when we kind of sat
and it took a step back and realized where we
were at, it was really the best thing for us
to move forward that way, give the other guys in
the room an opportunity to step up. I help those
guys grab that opportunity by the horns and take it

(03:32):
and run with it. And and then it gives h
gives to relevant opportunity to you know, find another spot
somewhere else so we can finish the year strong.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
So that was the thought behind it.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
Yeah, you know, going into the by Mike McDonald did say,
you know, everything's on the table. They're they're going to
evaluate everything. So the fact that maybe a young player
is gonna get bumped up over a current starter doesn't
shock me. I was a little surprised that the move
was to let him go, but as Mike McDonald said,
that does when you sometimes there's an issue with you know,
veteran starting caliber player. It's sort of a disrespect thing

(04:03):
of like, hey, rather than leave you on the bench here,
we're going to give you a chance to go see
if you can find a starting job elsewhere.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
He was claimed by Miami, so he does get a
chance to continue the season. Meanwhile, Tyrese Knight, we saw
him early in the season. We saw him in preseason,
and Mike McDonald said, look, without those snaps, you would
not be having this conversation right now. And when you
talked to people about Night early in the year, they
were really high on him. I can't evaluate linebacker play

(04:29):
the way some of my colleagues can. But this is
also one of those moves where if you believe the
guys that you have drafted, if you believe in them,
this is now a chance, yeah, for them to go
out and prove. And you know, it does feel a
little bit like a philosophy we have seen here before,

(04:50):
Letting young guys play, cut their teeth, make their mistakes
so that by the end of the year you have
seen growth.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
And I mean, look, the guy who filled that roster
spot when they waved him job, a guy that was
on the practice squad and most Seahawks fans knew probably
nothing about going back a few weeks and then injuries
forced him into action in Atlanta. He starts that game
and now he's played well enough that Mike McDonald said,
most likely he's still your number three corner, even with
Crey Brown back, and even with me and my approach

(05:16):
it healthy. So just stories like that where it's a
guy that you know he worked hard, did it on
the practice squad. You got a Kobe Bryant who was
a backup doing the job on special teams, and now
he's starting and thriving. So Mike McDonald really likes kind
of what that says about those players.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
Well, and it makes good on essentially the promise every
coach yeah makes to a player if you work hard
in practice, you will get rewarded. And I don't think
we always see that play out the way we're seeing
it right now, but it does say something about keeping
your ward but also figuring out how to earn your
opportunities when maybe not all lies are on you.

Speaker 6 (05:51):
We want to be a program built on development and
bring guys along and you earn your opportunities and then
we want to celebrate it when you go out there
and you show what you can do. So we've we've had,
you know, several examples of that that you've rattled off,
and uh, hopefully that's that's message the rest of the guys.
That's that's how we want to operate, and that's that's
where you earn. Everything is just to day by day

(06:12):
you know, in the meeting room, walk through, is how
you go about your business, type of person you are,
all that stuff. We're trying to, you know, trying to
make people grow in all aspects of their life.

Speaker 5 (06:21):
As you said, Jenna, every coach you know is preaching
this that you compete, you got your practice matters, all that.
But it's not that often the NFL that you see
a lot of changes like this mid season. I do think,
you know, probably a first time coaching staff, you're going
to maybe see more of this. They're going to be
a little more flexible as they figure out what they want.
And also, as mcdonnal' said, I think there's a value
in that message. It's a it might light a fire

(06:43):
under the butts to some veteran guys are like, hey,
nobody's safe, but be if you're that practice squad guy,
if you're that third string guy, whatever, it is.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Like you have a real shot.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
It's not just you're going through the motion and trying
to get that practice squad check. Like if you show out,
you've got a real shot turned playing time.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
I also think there is leadership that has shown on
the other side of that, because how many times have
we seen examples around sports or even in business, sticking
with something that doesn't work right because it's a principal thing, right,
or because while I paid money for this, I don't
really I don't really like this, right. It could just
be something you bought for you else I don't really
like it, but I paid money for it, so I'm
just gonna suck it up and deal with it.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Right.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
It actually does take something to say, look, it's not working,
we're gonna move on. And by the way, t Dot,
an awesome person, really enjoyed my conversations with them.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
It's it's having them here.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
It's and I know, and Mike had said, look, it
looks like we're pointing the finger at a couple of
players who are not here, because that entire line backing
room looks different. It's also to your point figuring out
who fits in the system because all of this is new.

Speaker 5 (07:45):
Yeah, it's unfortunately you cannot it's just not realistic. And
it's more like football to have a new coach, just
have coming and everything just goes smooth as can be,
no bumps in their own no justice needed. So I like,
you know, it's it's hard to do these things in season,
and it can make young people criticized for it. It can
make you look bad. So I think it takes some
conviction to be like, hey, this isn't working. Even if

(08:07):
it even if it's kind of messy, we're going to
try to fix it.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Right now.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
Yep, we are broadcasting from the Seahawks Podcast Studio, presented
by Sony, the official headphone partner of the Seattle Seahawks.
We have talked about the changes that the Seahawks have
made on defense. I am curious how far the changes
will extend on offense, and I suspect that not all
of them will be so evident, as in, how do

(08:31):
things get simplified, how do they get communicated? Because that
was one of the things that Mike McDonald was talking
about before they headed into the buy, particularly with the
offensive line.

Speaker 5 (08:41):
Yeah, I mean, there's just there's things they know they
need to clean up, especially upfront, where it's whether it's
the penalties, the turnovers they've had that recently, the snap
issues are are just all these little things are just
keeping them from functioning at the level they want. And
the questions brought this week is they've been a very
shotgun heavy team. Do you go under center or you're
obviously not going to tell you the forty nine ers
that in the middle of the but that's something that

(09:01):
maybe you see more of that. They haven't done a
lot of play actions, so there's all these different things
they can get into. But whatever it is, it's, as
you said, simplifying the process to where you know, whatever
they're doing all week to get ready, it can come
out cleaner on game day. Because this offense, I mean
we've seen it. They have a ton of firepower. Gino
Smith can make every throw in the world. He's got
great weapons. But they just they get in their own
way too often.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Yeah, they do.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
And they got in their way back in week six
when these teams met because they had chances, including a
chance to score on the opening drive. There's an interception
at the three yard line. Suddenly momentum swings the Niners direction.
They never get it back. Seattle does pull within five
late in the game, and then it tackling becomes an issue,
and it's frustrating to go back and look at that.
I do think the team looks different on both sides

(09:43):
of the ball. I also think it's really hard to
look at that game and know what to expect because
both teams look really different. In week eleven.

Speaker 6 (09:52):
You know, you just can't take it, you know, play
by play verbatim. But uh, that's kind of the secret.
That's a secret question, right, It's what matters, what doesn't.
How have you evolved, how do you take the next step?
How do you answer certain things? Comes down to how
well we play? Frankly, so I guess that's that really
is the secret behind it. But that's going to be
That's always the way when you're playing a team a
second time, sometimes a third time. So we'll see a

(10:14):
lot of these guys, so we gotta go play good.

Speaker 5 (10:16):
I mean normally you'd say, oh, second time in six weeks.
You can go back and look at that film, like
probably the most important piece of their offense is Christian McCaffrey.
With all due respect to brock Purty, it's always a
quarterback in some sense, but McCaffrey's such a unique weapon
the way they use him, so for him to be
not playing a few weeks ago, now he's playing, that
makes a huge difference. We talked about this a little
bit earlier, but defensively, the Seahawks are so much different now.

(10:39):
Both linebackers will be different, Kobees starting, Josh Job will
be out there, new guys up front like there There.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
Were also injuries in that game. Rak Wolla didn't play
in that game and Murphy didn't play in that game either.

Speaker 5 (10:50):
Sawks people will feel like they're much better equipped defensively
to handle us. But forty nine ers also have some
weapons that they didn't have, including their biggest weapon.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
Okay, but the Niners ranks second in the league when
it comes to total yards on offense, they're averaging just
over four hundred and twelve. It was a balanced offense.
Without Christian McCaffrey. They were racking up one hundred and
forty nine rushing yards a game, two hundred and sixty
two passing yards a game. I will point out some
of those numbers I'm not going to say skewed. I

(11:19):
will say that game against Seattle definitely helped the Niners numbers.

Speaker 5 (11:23):
Yeah, they put up big numbers of that game and
on a lot of big plays where that was a
big talking point for the defense of like, you can
do a lot right and it doesn't really matter if
you're giving up huge touchdowns to Debo and what you know,
the other big plays I had. So that's you need
to not just be good on ninety percent of the plays.
You need to eliminate those big, huge plays that allowed
the forty nineers to put up some massive numbers in

(11:45):
that game.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
Yeah, and when it comes to Debo and McCaffrey, they's
somewhat interchangeable because the Niners had to make do without
McCaffrey for so long. So here's kind of what you're
expecting when the twenty twenty three offensive Player of the
Year returns.

Speaker 6 (11:59):
Well, I mean, you know, you have last year's tape
and then all the things they've done off of it,
and then you have kind of a one game sample,
and they were doing a lot of the things that
they do with McCaffrey. Now, albeit it might have been
with Debo or with the running backs that they had
out there, so it's kind of hard to gauge like
percentage of how much they're going to change. But you
talk about interchangeable parts and guys that can do multiple things,

(12:20):
I think you're probably more likely to get Christian and
funk your spots that he normally you know, they didn't
do with the other running backs or really any other
running back in the league. So those are things you
have to account for on really any situation so that
they do a great job. But everybody kind of knows
all the different spots and the time they don't lose
timing or anything like that. So that's what you're looking at.

Speaker 5 (12:39):
That interchangeable parts thing that Mike mcdall mentioned is huge,
and you touched on this as well, Jim.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
It's like most teams if.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
They put a receiver in the backfield, you kind of
know one of a few things will happen and he's
limited what he can do back there. Same thing with
you split a receiver out wide, he maybe has a
limited route for you. McCaffrey is an NFL caliber receiver
when he lines up out there, can do a ton
in the backfield as a runner.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
So it's like they're legit threats wherever you put them.

Speaker 5 (13:04):
And when you have those two guys out there together,
it really changes that offense.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
I was really hoping he was going to show signs
of rust last week.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Yeah he didn't.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
He didn't.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, he didn't be a problem.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
It's going to be a problem. But look the explosive
plays that we talked about, that is something that San
Francisco has excelled at, not just this year, but actually
going back a few years. But if you look at
just their numbers this year, seventy one big plays that
is a rush of ten or more yards or a
reception of twenty or more. They've had thirty six runs
like that, thirty five receptions. So you were going to

(13:37):
have to figure out a way to stop those big plays.
And for Mike McDonald, if you actually want to break
this game, like you can mention all sorts of things,
it comes down to what you do on first down.

Speaker 6 (13:49):
Yeah, this game is going to come down to a
large part of It's going to come down to how
well each team plays on first down. And they obviously
they do a great job.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
I think we.

Speaker 6 (13:57):
Played it well in certain aspects in the first game
obviously gave us some explosives on first down two, So
trying to eliminate those types of things, putting ourselves in
better position really just executing as a whole is better.
And of course as coaches, we're trying to design and
put ourselves in better situations, so we feel like we
have the upper hand of those in those situations as well.
So it's kind of a team effort.

Speaker 5 (14:19):
And the reason that first down obviously is so important
that Mike McDonald's talking about is the Seahawks have sometimes
struggled on early downs, whether it's you know, an effective
run game, penalties, sacks, whatever they've been facing. I believe
it's the longest down third third to yardage to go,
third down, yardage to go?

Speaker 4 (14:37):
Did you want to like get that again, John, come
to the Seahawks having problems.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
With long third downs?

Speaker 4 (14:45):
There you go, that's the way to say it.

Speaker 5 (14:47):
In fact, the longest in the league. So when you're
doing that, it's really hard to convert forty nine ers.
I meanwhile, are one of the best first down teams
in the league, So you create situations where you might
not even be getting a third down, or if you are,
it's third and short.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
It's just a huge difference.

Speaker 5 (15:01):
And that goes back to when we're talking about the
Seahawks defense all year long, Like when it's been good,
it's when you're stopping the run. You're good on early downs,
and that's when you can get the pass rush going,
you can start disguising things, and you can get the turnout.
All that's come when the Seahawks are forcing teams into
third and long situations.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
San Francisco is one of the best in the league's
on first down. They actually are the second best in
the league. They're averaging over seven yards of play on
first down.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
That seems good.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
That seems ridiculous. Baltimore is at seven point two forty
nine Ers are at seven oh five. You were never
facing a third and long in that scenario unless you
have a penalty. I mean, that's that is pretty significant.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
It is.

Speaker 4 (15:43):
And also that starts to play into time of possession too.
I mean, that's one of those things where you've got
to give yourself some chances to make plays because in
the previous matchup, Seattle didn't run the ball very much,
and it made it really hard on them because you
didn't have that many options and a guy like Nick
Bosa can tee off on you dealing with the hit
pointer though he is he didn't eat he's listed. Yeah,

(16:07):
I mean I think that that's going to be more
of a game time decision. I don't wish injury on anybody,
but I do want to make sure that he is
one hundred percent.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
Takes care of himself.

Speaker 6 (16:15):
Right.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
You need to take care of your body absolutely well
this NFL season. Feel every play, every hit, every moment
with a Sony one thousand x M five noise canceling headphones.
It is the official headphones of the Seattle Seahawks. With
premium noise cancelation, you're in the zone, no distractions, just
pure football. Whether you are in your living room or
on the go, you will never miss a beat with

(16:38):
Sony headphones. Those can be helpful. Like I mentioned, there's
a loud foghorn in San Francisco this week, so I
will be enjoying some noise canceling headphones. Meanwhile, Oh, Scott
Engel is dialed in on what is happening on the
fantasy side of things, because John, from my understanding, we're
starting to get down to the nitty gritty.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
Weak eleven and Fantasy football, the playoff getting closer, and
we get you ready with some winning lineup tips. We
start a quarterback with Jared Goff for the rebound performance
against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who ranked thirtieth in Fantasy points
per game, and passing the yards allowed to quarterbacks at
running back JK. Dobbins against the Cincinnati Bengals. Goun to

(17:20):
be very important for the Chargers to control the clock
and control the ball with their running game against that
powerful Bengals offense. Also, if you're looking for a streamer
Audric estimate, the rookie now the lead running back for
the Denver Broncos against the Atlanta Falcons, Sean Payton not
afraid to go with his younger players to win games.

(17:44):
And wide receiver Jamison Williams also of the Lions and
that matchups against the Jacksonville Jaguars. And another upside play,
Tank Dell of the Houston Texans in the Battle of
Texas against the Dallas Cowboys. And from the Seahawks. Of course,
Jackson Smith and the JIGBA. With DK Metcalf trending to

(18:04):
return this week, he's going to command a lot of
defensive attention. As always and that will help Jackson Smith
the Jigba get open often to roll up those PPR catches.
For more fantasy analysis from me, go to seahawks dot
com news page, Fantasy and Cider tab, and also at
Rhodobowler dot com you can check out my latest player rankings.

(18:27):
Back to you, Jen and John for this big Week
eleven matchup against the San Francisco forty nine ers.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
Thank you, Scott. How happy do you think fantasy owners
are with Jackson Smith and Jigba right now?

Speaker 2 (18:39):
I mean, if they started him last week, they're thrilled. Well,
you would have.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
I would have thought you would.

Speaker 5 (18:44):
With you didn't, you're kicking yourself. But man, that was
fun to watch it. You know, obviously you hate to
lose any game, but a very fun silver lining now
that one was watching Jackson Smith and Jigba have one
of the best receiving games in Seahawks history.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
That wasn't just a career high.

Speaker 5 (18:59):
He's largeent and Lockett is the only players in franchise
history with one hundred and eighty or more yards and
two touchdowns in the game.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
And it could have been massive. He had too long.

Speaker 5 (19:08):
I think it was seventy eight yards worth of catches
taken back by penalties, So I mean that was really
cool to see by far the most he's been used
as a downfield threat, which I'm sure some of that
was DK Metcalf not being out there, but really cool
to see that part of his game accentuated.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
I thought it was cool to hear DK talking about
him this week too. It's like, look, we know he
can make those plays. I mean you and I have
seen him make those plays in practice. But now that
you have had that experience and you know what he
can do, and you've seen him do it on game day.

Speaker 5 (19:36):
And you put it on tape for opponents of like, yep,
this is a legit threat now, and you have DK Metcalf, who,
to borrow a term that we've heard from Mike mcdondery's
only force multiplier.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
Like when you have I do like that term, I do. Yeah,
that's what force multiplayer?

Speaker 4 (19:49):
Yes, sorry not to interrupt.

Speaker 5 (19:50):
Hers, no, but when you have that, what DK Metcalf
is like he affects not just who's covered him, but
how they shift coverages to him. How you know, heavy
boxes if they can do that against roaring game. So
I mean, you affect so much with a guy you
can make off it. Now, if all of a sudden
you're looking at last week's tape and saying, like, shoot,
we gotta really worry about Jackson Smith and Jigba going

(20:11):
downfield too. It's and Tyler Lockett's been that his whole
career since you know, you're showing teams that they got
a lot to contend with.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
I love seeing that. You know what else I love seeing?
And I gave this sideline report during the game. It
is not uncommon for Gino Smith to call the offense together.
Yeah right, like that that happens on occasion. It doesn't
necessarily mean the game is going bad. There's just like
a single message, right that he wants to get out.
So he does that last game second half, and it's

(20:38):
Ken Walker who takes over the huddle. Really and I
just sat there in almost stunned silence. Now, you know
that Ken would much prefer to have his play speak
for itself, and he is so soft spoken, like sometimes
I can't even hear him in our postgame interviews. It
was so cool to watch him just like, yeah, give

(20:59):
the message.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
It was awesome.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
No, that's definitely not his usual personality.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
It is not his personality, but I hope that that's
what we're seeing more and I hope that we're seeing
more of him in this game.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
Yeah. Yeah, they I mean they tried in the last
game to get him go.

Speaker 5 (21:13):
They didn't put up a lot of numbers, but I
think it was thirty three rush attempts as a team.
That's you know, again, the production wasn't I still there,
but it was encouraging to see them go that route
and try to get that going, because, as you referenced earlier,
there's been some stretches of season where the run game
has just been pretty non existent.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
Yeah, and they managed just fifty two rushing yards against
the Niners in the previous matchup. As we've already mentioned,
that does not lead to a very balanced attack. We
are almost out of time for today, but first let's
pause for a word from our presenting sponsor.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
Statistically, the world is losing color.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
Just consider all white kitchens, beige baby nurseries, a sea
of gray cars. But in the hundreds of destinations Delta
flies to, you can rediscover color in the bright blue
waters of Hawaii, the emerald green hills of Scotland, the
very pink chiny blossoms of Tokyo and so much more.
Sometimes opening your world is all it takes to open

(22:05):
your mind, which is why when you fly Delta, your
potential takes off. When you do Delta. Official Airline of
the Seattle Seahawks.

Speaker 4 (22:14):
Jen Mueller and John Boyle broadcasting from the Seahawks Podcast Studio,
presented by Sony, the official headphones partner of the Seattle Seahawks.
Do you have a couple of things you need to
see the Seahawks do this week for a win?

Speaker 5 (22:25):
I mean, can I just copy the head coach and
say first down, win on first down?

Speaker 4 (22:29):
I mean, he's not wrong laying that out for it, right,
He's not wrong.

Speaker 5 (22:32):
Yeah, Like, don't let them get those big chunks on
first down that allow their offense can come in and
conversely be more efficient offensively on first down and create
some of those I mean, I think I've said this
every week, but just like offensively get the turners out
of there. That's been and I'm not gonna say like
Gino Smith because I know a lot of these are
tied to his name with the interceptions, but as we've covered,

(22:54):
I mean there's been tip balls, bad routes, bad protection,
there's been miscommunication.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
There's a whole bad routes.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
There's been a couple miscommunications on routes, as DK Metcalf
you know, owned up to in the previous forty nine
Ers game. But I just feel like this offense is
too good to be consistently stopped if they're not getting
in their own way, so quit giving the ball up.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
Well, here's what I would like to see. I would
like to see a few explosive plays from the offense
because we know that this team is capable of it.
We also know that the Niners defense has held opponents
to twenty six plays of twenty or more yards this season.
That's tied for the fewest third fewest to excuse me,
in the NFL. So just use those guys downfield, just
like we've seen for every other game. Just get a
few more explosives on there. I would also say keep

(23:37):
San Francisco off the board for their opening drive. We
know what happened in the last matchup where they take
that turnover, they convert three points. But San Francisco is
three and one when scoring on their opening drive this
season and all time under Shanahan forty four and fifteen.
Like there is something. When they grab that lead, they
are not going to give it back to you. So defense,

(23:57):
get the stop, offense get a couple of explosive plays,
and I think I'll go with Yeah, your first ounce.
That sounds like a winning game plan.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Great.

Speaker 4 (24:08):
You sound less excited about this than I am. You know, Okay,
I've had more coffee than John had. Probably Okay, Well,
on that note, since John is tired of me, I
can only.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
Assume that you are too.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
But you are going to hear from us again next
week with the brand new edition of the Seahawks Insiders podcast.
