Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to the Seahawks insiders. Gino, look go waying
up over the top. Got a man out there.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It is fuck he's got a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Sey Hawks getting you ready for Seahawks football Every Sunday, Hurts.

Speaker 4 (00:13):
Drops back, has time, loads up, throws a J Brown
the defense.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Step Does he keep it sweet?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Him? He does? Stay off ball presented by Delta, the
official airline of the Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Now here's your host, Jen Mueller.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
The Seahawks lead start to finish in the game against
the Falcons on Sunday. They come out with a win,
which makes everything better this week. John Boyle, Yes, yes, absolutely.
I mean I could do with a little bit warmer weather.
But it's crisp, it's sunny.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
It's good.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
It's a winning late October, and it's not raining. That's
a win.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
That is a good point.

Speaker 5 (00:51):
Every dry day from here until like May, I'll call
that a.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
That's true, and every game day that is not raining
from here on out is really big win in my book.
But we had talked so much going into that game
against Atlanta about.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
The areas of obvious need.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
For improvement for Seattle. In what way do you think
they took care of those issues.

Speaker 5 (01:14):
I mean, the most obvious one was a turnover differential.
They've been struggling there on both sides of it. They've
been given it up too much. They've not been getting
the takeaways. They're plus three in that game. And we
heard players talk about last week like, how do you
get more turnovers in a lot? Is like, well, you
got to get ahead, so you're putting them in obvious
pass situations, you're pass rushing it after it, And that's
exactly what happened in that game. So that was the
clearest one. The next one that jumped out to me

(01:36):
was the run defense from first half to second half.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Yeah, and the numbers are starkly different, right, which I
did not realize until kind of after the fact. I
usually write down those halftime numbers because I want to
know where they are in relation to their overall average
on both sides, Seahawks and opponents.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
What I did not do was compare the final numbers.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
We didn't do the math.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
I did not do the math. I was told there
would be no math. I did not do the math.
And I think part of that is and look, there's
a lot of different reasons for that. Yes, did they
clean up some of that second level stuff, sure they did,
but also playing with the lead changes what Atlanta has
to do in the second half.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
I mean, but even when they tried to run it
early in the half, it was their two main running
backs eleven carries for twenty two yards. In the second
half after they had was one hundred and seventeen on
fifteen carries, so they were still trying to run it some.
But yeahs you got further into the half and the
leads expanded, especially after Derek Hall's touchdown. That point they
were in throw only mode to try to catch up,
and that's.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Where you're able to all of a sudden the interceptions come.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
And by the way, how about Boye saying, yeah, I
was going for that ball and I just let Derek
have it.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Oh, that's so nice of him.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
It was so nice, generous soul, he's I mean, really,
they work well in tandem.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Yes, you know, good teammate. Yes, boy a mafe. Also,
I would hate to.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
See a collision between those two. Yeah, that would have
been painful. So it's probably just also right Spoon taking
out the offensive line. Yeah, I went up and I
to him afterwards, and it was like that was a
heck of a plan, and he goes, that was a
big boy, Like I'm not going to shy away from anybody,
but that was a big boy.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
And their momentum was kind of It wasn't all like
head on collision.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
They're both running the same direction.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
So yes, but when you take a look at that
defense and those rushing numbers for opponents, they are still
twenty eighth in the league one hundred and forty six
ish yards allowed on the ground per game, which is
one of the reasons why Seattle made a trade for
a second straight week. I'm gonna be honest, John, I
have been looking at potential trades around the league.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
I was caught a little bit off guard when Seattle
made this.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Move this week.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
Yeah, you know, I wasn't necessarily expecting it, but you know,
we've heard John Schneider say it for basically his whole career.
Here is like they they take pride and being in everything.
They want to leave no stone unturned. So if they
saw a guy out there that was available and they
thought could be an upgrade for him, They're they're going
to take a look at I mean, they've always been
a pretty aggressive team when it comes to trade.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
So I like this move.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
You get, you know, a young, pretty darn good linebacker
who's done a lot of good things in this career
so far, and you know, hopefully you can help that defense.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Well, we actually haven't said his name up to this point.
It's it's Ernest Jones and the fourth the fourth. Yes,
I don't know the three.

Speaker 5 (04:16):
Forget what I saw us on Twitter kind of injury.
We've had two Jones. The fourth now Sidney Jones.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Also, as you know, of all the things I'm going
to remember about players, that wasn't going to be one.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
So I'm really.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Glad that you pointed that one out.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
Thank you Twitter versus x verse, whatever for pointing that
one out. And it is not like Ernest Jones the
fourth just came onto the scene.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
He's a guy the team has had their eye on
for a while.

Speaker 6 (04:44):
It's a team decision. Wasn't just wasn't just my decision.
But he's a guy that I think when you look
at uh kind of all fronts coming from our you know,
our John and our personnel people, our coaches are experience
with him. A guy that've had respect for for a
lot for a long time, and uh, just just a
really good football player, you know, all the way around.
I remember seeing him making the play in the Super

(05:05):
Bowl was probably the first time that I kind of
kind of get on my map and just excited to
get him here and get him get him rolling. So,
by all accounts, a great person, loves loves ball, tough
as tough as nails, and uh, we're excited to get
him here.

Speaker 5 (05:20):
I like, I like to mention in the Super Bowl
he talked about you followed up on that later of
kind of you're watching the game and you're not really
familiar with everybody out there, and you're like, oh, who's
this linebacker? And then what he said is once you're
familiar with that guy, it keeps coming up on tape
as you're studying tape around the league. And yeah, I mean,
he he's a player that you know, he came on
strong that rookie year after taking over starting job, and
last year I believe he set a franchise record with

(05:42):
one hundred and forty five tackles for the Rams. So
he's been a really good player so far. And again,
I think he's a guy that you know, he's known
to be a good run defender, but he can also
pass rush, he can cover. He's kind of a what
you want ideally in the middle linebacker and do a
little bit everything.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
He also is familiar with Mike McDonald's system because his
coach in Tennessee coached alongside Mike and Baltimore, so they
are running similar schemes with similar verbiage. Ernest Jones was
a third round pick in twenty twenty one. He did
help the Rams win the Super Bowl six one, two
hundred and thirty pounds, and it kind of reshuffles the

(06:17):
deck in the middle of the fields based on what
his strengths are and Tea dots.

Speaker 5 (06:22):
Yeah, that was one of the things Mike mcnell mentioned
is they like that Tyrel Dodson when they signed him.
They like his versatility, so he'll actually bump over and
play week sidelinebacker with Ernest Jones coming to play middle linebacker. Now,
there's a lot of overlap in though, I mean the
two inside linebacker positions in most defenses overlap quite a bit.
So it's not you know, you're not asking t Dot
to do something totally different, but there's gonna be a
little change.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
He and Terrell Dodson is still going to wear the
green dots, so he is communicating out to the defense
that is not necessarily a weak side linebacker traits most
often generally that would be your middle linebacker. But also
the reason you would move him to that spot, Ernest
Jones I'm talking about is because of what they know
he does well well.

Speaker 6 (07:04):
He does a lot of things really well. I think,
like you talk about making tackles stand square at the
point of attack, He's physical. I think he plays really hard.
Also like a good blitzer as well. Off the ball
covered skills I think are pretty dang good as well.
So just an overall really good football player.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Basically subscribe to linebacker.

Speaker 5 (07:21):
You gotta cover, you got to be all to blitz,
you got to be able to stop the run.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
I mean yeah, yeah, and you were going to want
to make those shore tackles against a Buffalo Bills team
that can certainly score, that can certainly put up points,
and that has Maybe it depends on which category are
you using.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
The best quarterback in the league, at least if you're.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
Looking at interceptions, Yeah, because Josh Allen has zero and
that's zero quite a departure for him, because as good
as he's been over the years.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
The one sort of thing you could really critique with
him is the turnovers. He's been a guy that you know,
is among the league leaders and interceptions and turnovers since
he's been in the NFL. Ten interceptions last year, So
if he suddenly gets that out of his game, boys,
it's probably tough.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Yet, yeah, I would. I'm really upset he's gotten that
out of his game.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
By the way, those eighteen interceptions last season, that was
second most in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
The only quarterback with.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
More interceptions Sam Howell. And we know part of that
was the situations he was in, trailing for the Commanders
and needing to take shots downfield. Now, if you go
back one more year, in twenty twenty two, Josh Allen
threw fourteen interceptions that was tied for third most in
the league. Now here's what's happened. You might remember one

(08:37):
of those games. I think it was the playoff game.
It's the Bills, it's Kansas City, it's Patrick Mahomes Josh Allen,
and they throw for over seven hundred yards and it
kind of just breaks. It blows your mind, and it
kind of breaks the NFL in some of those categories.
And since then he has changed his approach thanks to

(08:59):
golf Have you heard this?

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Have you seen this?

Speaker 7 (09:03):
Dummy?

Speaker 1 (09:03):
And Jack Okay.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
So his coach Sean McDermott met Scotti Scheffler's caddy. Now,
Josh Allen, huge golfer, great golfer, has played in many
of those celebrity kind of tournaments and televised opportunities. So
McDermott meets Scheffler's caddy and starts talking about the idea
of just kind of laying it up. It's just go
for the single, right instead of trying to go for

(09:25):
that deep shot.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
On the fairway.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Just be consistent and hit it short yardage meet I mean,
it's not short yardage for me, right, but you're just
kind of going for the singles instead of that home
run ball. And it is one of the reasons that
Scotty Scheffler has been number one in the world for
like two years. So now when you look at what
Josh Allen is doing, he's got the arm to get

(09:49):
it downfield, but a lot of his passes are.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Actually within that ten yard ten to twelve yard range.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
He's not doing it with a big arm, which is
also what is cut down on the interceptions and as
a team.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
This is a tough team to get to.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
They've lost just two fumbles this year, so you're gonna
have to do something to disrupt this very easy I say,
easy pitch and catch sort of thing that they've got
got an idea.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
What do you got.

Speaker 5 (10:17):
I'm gonna take Josh Allen golfing so he can see
some bad decisions on a golf course for some things,
head driver when you don't need to. And then you
know by Sunday, right.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
At the interceptions, that's great, right, you're gonna model what not.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
To do Josh Saturday. Let's just have less to.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Do this Well, you know what, maybe Josh Allen takes
a few more deep shots with Amari Cooper in the
mixed A nice weapon they added it is now. Last
week he only shows up for what sixty six yards?
He's got four receptions. He also only played a Yeah.

Speaker 5 (10:51):
I would assume with another full week of practice, we'll
see a little more of Marik Cooper more. You know,
he's a guy that can play lost spots. They didn't
do as much with him last week. Might don't play
that out, but they're fully expecting to see a more
full complement of his game.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
Well, and I think going along with that, why don't
we just hear from Mike McDonald because he does have something.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
From let's just hear from the coach.

Speaker 6 (11:14):
Well, it's tough with the sample sizers looking at one
game on how they used him, so you're kind of assuming, ah,
you know, growth in his role that they're playing on
another another week's preparation. But a Mari's a guy that
I'm familiar with, you know, going against him in Cleveland
for all those years, and he can make you pay.
So you got to You gotta make sure you're on
your p's and q's your on him. He's a great

(11:34):
route runner, he's got great hands. Kind Of when he
was in Cluveing, he was doing the whole he was running,
he was in all the different positions. They were moving
around a good bit. Last week he was kind of
only in one spot. You're assuming that's going to grow.
So it's it's a little it's a tough projection, honestly.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Yep, Like you know, I set that up so well,
I got nothing else already know.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
I love this. I love this.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
John is rendered speechless, absolutely speechless, The look on his
face almost priceless, minus the fact, I was hoping he
was gonna Sayson. He could have said that Josh Allen
is twelveth in the league in total passing yards. By
the way, Gino Smith is still number one Allen with
just over two hundred and eleven passing yards a game.
Certainly with Amari Cooper that could be going up. I

(12:18):
tell you what, why don't we pause right now? Let
John gatherers thoughts, and let's hear from our fantasy insider,
Scott Ingel.

Speaker 7 (12:25):
Thanks Jenn and John. We're a Week eight of fantasy football.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Now.

Speaker 7 (12:29):
No team's on a bie, but lots of injuries and
we tell you how to deal with them. All. We
started quarterback Caleb Williams, top five fantasy quarterback for Week
eight that matchup against the Washington Commanders. Also at running
back Javonte Williams for another good week. The Carolina Panthers
allowed the most fantasy points per game to running backs.

(12:53):
The Dolphins also ranked twenty sixth in fantasy points per
game it allowed to running backs. James Connor should be
a lineup lock for Week eight. At wide receiver Jayden
Reid for a bounce back week against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Past defense. Also for a bounce back week statistically, Courtland Sutton,

(13:15):
get him in your lineup against the Carolina Panthers for
the second consecutive week, We'd go with Noah Fan at
tight end from the Seahawks. Of course, two consecutive games
of sixty plus yards for Noah Fan. You want a
fantasy sleeper from the Seahawks this week, Jake Bobo to

(13:35):
potentially get in the end zone the larger leads. You
need a lineup streamer and deeper league, go with Jake
Bobo And of course make sure you follow John on
Seahawks dot com with his injury reports every day to
check in on the status of DK Metcalf. Thanks a
lot back to you, Jenn and John for Week eight

(13:57):
in the NFL. Seahawks and Bill should be a fun
one for real life and fantasy purposes.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
Yes, have you gathered your thoughts?

Speaker 1 (14:06):
They are gathered.

Speaker 4 (14:07):
Okay, I've gathered my thoughts, and I have a thought
about kickers.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
All right, we're going from golf to kickers.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Well, I was gonna go.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
I just hard pivot right because I just made it
for a free set.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
Well, Jason Myers a good golfer.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Also great kicker. What did he hit from last week?

Speaker 1 (14:27):
Nine nine miss field goal in Mercedes Benz Stadium.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
Yes, which also was amazing to me because yung Waiku
is a really good kicker. Sixty one would be Meyer's
longest that was back in twenty twenty. And I say
this because this has become the year of the kicker.
Like we can talk about lots of different things in
the NFL. Have been holding on to this one for
a little bit. The kicking game actually made things really

(14:52):
difficult for the Bills and the Jets a couple of
weeks ago. But Jason Myers has been golden and I
had this conversation with him last week on why is
this the year of the kicker?

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Like is it the training that's going into it? Is it?
You know, like do you just have bigger legs? Like
what is happening? He said, We've always been able to
do it.

Speaker 4 (15:11):
It just takes one team to start taking that chance
and everybody else follows.

Speaker 5 (15:16):
Yeah, there's a big like I'm sure it's named, but
there's a phenomenon in sports of like once certain thresholds
are crossed and you're like, oh, we can just make
fifty yard field goals. And then everybody starts making fifty
plus ardfield goals like their team once you know, first
for minute mile is this unreachable thing? And then it
happens and within a couple of years a whole bunch

(15:37):
of people ran forman at miles.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
Yeah, here's a few of the numbers.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
The kickers this year are on pace to make two
hundred and fifty one field goals from fifty plus That
would shatter the record. Listen to this set last year
of one hundred and fifty eight. Yeah, I mean, like
not even close. NFL kickers are hitting seventy six percent
of their kicks from fifty plus yards out this year.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
Isn't that crazy?

Speaker 4 (16:03):
And then Jason also said, you know, part of this
is once you see kickers do this and they become
a bigger part of the game. Now kids actually want
to kick from a younger age. So you're not getting
the converted soccer player, which is what Jason Myers was.
You were getting kids that from you know, fifth grade
on are in kicking camps and so their motions are

(16:25):
just completely different and more efficient and stronger.

Speaker 5 (16:29):
Although former soccer players work pretty well for the Cowboys,
I mean, might be the best kicker in the league.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Okay, that's true.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
Also on jury duty currently, So that's bizarre because you
want to know how often I want to sit on
a jury Never. I never want to sit.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
You just you just spoke that right in new existence.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
I'm sorry. I have to go to work anyway.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
Look, I don't necessarily want games to come down to
field goals. I feel pretty good if that's the case.
Where is Seattle at offensively?

Speaker 3 (17:03):
John?

Speaker 5 (17:03):
You know, I think they're still like this whole team,
they're still growing, They're still we talked about this before,
but like you've got all new schemes both.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
Sides of the ball.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
But I love the direction they're heading in and I
especially love last week that we started to see them
get more balanced. Was what we've been talking about throughout
these losses, is you get behind, it's hard to stay
balanced all of a sudden you're playing from ahead. You know,
they didn't dominate their run game, but you had that
threat of the run going. You were getting getting the
running backs involved. Moore and Gino. Smith was able to
have probably his best game in terms of if you

(17:32):
watch the tape, how he played, he was phenomenal, but
his numbers were you know, fewest completions and attempts and
yards since the opener. But didn't feel like that because
he played awesome. But I think part of that is
what we're talking about when it's not all on him
and the defense has to respect the run game more,
it's just he can be that much better.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
Shout out to ken Walker, by the way, playing through
a lot his postgame interview with me on the bench,
I think he was so hopped up on cold medicine
he couldn't barely finish the sentence. He was also really tired,
and I give him a lot of credit for even
stopping and gosh, but you know what he wasn't taking
like extra fluid or oxygen. You could just tell he

(18:13):
was tired right now. To be fair, Ken on a
normal game day is pretty like locked in and not smiling.
But he looked a little bit, you know, like one
step down from that. Just really gotten it up on
that one. What happens if DK Metcalf can't play.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
You need a bunch of guys to step up.

Speaker 5 (18:29):
I mean, look, we've talked about receiver depth with this
team for a while, so you can't obviously replace DK
Metcalf there's no other player like him on this roster
and really in the league in terms of what he
brings you physically. But you have a great two three
punch in Tyler Lockett and Jackson Smith and Jigma, and
then you've got depth that we really, you know, beyond
Jake Bobo a little bit. We don't get to see

(18:50):
those guys in games other than special teams. But you've
got you know, you've got Drek Young, They've got other
guys on the practice squad, So it's you know, I
think it's probably gonna lean a lot on Tyler Lockett
and Jackson Smith and Jagba and Bobo, but.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
You might get to see some other guys step up too.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
And look, I always want to see DK out there.
But don't you think this is a perfect like Ryan
Grubb opportunity. Like Grub has all of these like packages
and like plans, and this week it could potentially just
allow him to unveil like another little wrinkle that he
hasn't been able to do yet.

Speaker 5 (19:19):
Yeah, we just talked about receivers, but obviously the tight
ends have been in a big part of this offense.
No offense had I think three in the last four
or five games he's gone over sixty yards, so he's
been more involved. And ken Walker, if you go look
at his career past pass catching numbers, two of his
I think it says two best reception games of his
career were Week five and weeks O.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
Yes, yeah, but he couldn't get the run game going.
Still very involved. Yeah, in the so I think you know,
it's not just a whatch receiver step up. It's maybe
you get the running backs more involved, maybe you get
more of the tight ends, but they do have a
ton of weapons.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Or again, you're not.

Speaker 5 (19:51):
I don't want to say, oh, you just plugged this
guy in and it replaces DK METCF because you can't.
But I think you've got enough guys to on the
aggregate make it work out well.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
And certainly coming up soon, you were going to have
more guys available on the offensive line. At least that
is the hope. Mike Durell does a great job last
week at right tackle. We'll see what he can do
this week. Because I think once you get a little
bit of film, now teams have a way to attack you.

Speaker 5 (20:16):
So yeah, so you also get the confidence of getting
that first game belt. I mean, I think he's going
to be as much as he said, all the right
things and it wasn't too big for him and all that,
and he did play well. I'm sure he's going to
be a little more calm and comfortable his second time around.
Assuming it is him, I guess, you know, there's a
chance maybe George fans ready, but sure, yeah, I think
most likely we're looking at Mike Durrell, and I think

(20:38):
he'll step up the challenge.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
But there is also signs that Abe Lucas will be
rejoining the team at some point. Seeing him back at practice,
I mean it's huge. Not only is he physically huge,
a large human that would be huge, and it's something
that Mike McDonald really likes to see.

Speaker 6 (20:53):
Just kind of if you take a step back with Abe,
all the stuff that he's been through over the last
year and working his I mean, this guy's been working
his tail off now and it's not easy to kind
of be doing your own thing and training and strengthening
the leg. I mean, this is a long grind back
to where we sit today. So I think he deserves
a lot of credit for putting himself in the situation

(21:16):
to come back at this point in time and should
be really excited to have him out there and doing
a thing. Now we're gonna ramp into it and try
to be as smart as we can. I think we've
got a really good plan. So just happy for him
and excited to see him out there.

Speaker 5 (21:29):
He followed up with that when he was asked about
that plan to ramp him up, I said, you know,
maybe after the bye is what's realistic.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
So it's going to be a few weeks till we
see him.

Speaker 5 (21:37):
But man, getting a healthy Abe Lucas out Like people
forget how good well some do, but he wasn't hisself
last year. He was playing through that injury throughout the year,
and he still played well when he was out there,
but he only played I think six games.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
But if you go back and watch his rookie.

Speaker 5 (21:52):
Year when he was out there all year and healthy,
I mean, he was a really darn good player. So
if they can get back to that guy out there,
that's going to help this line so much.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
The attitude I was about to say, it's.

Speaker 5 (22:03):
Not just the skill is attack, which he has, and
he's a great run blocker and all this things, Like
he brings that nastiness a line likes and not that
other guys can't.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
But he's really got He's.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
Really he really is, which is complete opposite of what
he's like in real life.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
He's a teddy bear. He's awesome. But you get him
on game Dan and I'm like, oh.

Speaker 5 (22:20):
You know who reminds me having that demeanor, not as
a player sard, but just demeanor wise.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Is Breno.

Speaker 5 (22:25):
Oh yeah, Breno was just sort of that and he
talked to teammate stuff like man, he is just like
the enforcer out there, and like, yeah, so he.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
I think he I think he got enforced a few times.
I think there was a few penalties on Reno. I
think there was a little fighting, there was a little
I think there's a little going on.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
Well, it brings you that edge.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
Yes, it would be great to have aid back on
the field.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
But the thing that I take away from Mike McDonald's
comment there is that they have a plan. They've always
had a plan, right, This is not a surprise. They
have always had a plan on when he was going
to come back, and so they are just taking the
next step in the plan. Indeed, our next step is
to take a break and pause for a word from
our presenting sponsor.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
Statistically, the world is losing color.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
Just consider all white kitchens, beige baby nurseries, a sea
of gray cars. But in the hundreds of destinations Delta
flies to, you can rediscover color in the bright blue
waters of Hawaii, the emerald green hills of Scotland, the
very pink cherry blossoms of Tokyo, and so much more.
Sometimes opening your world is all it takes to open

(23:31):
your mind, which is why when you fly Delta, your
potential takes off. When you do Delta, Official Airline of
the Seattle Seahawks.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
We're going to get two things that John Boyle needs
to see from the Seahawks to get a win on
Sunday against the Bills. In just a second, I would
say a key to getting a win for any team
in the league is to not have played the Lions
the week before.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
Yeah. There.

Speaker 4 (23:56):
The Seahawks did this to teams in the early twelve
and thirteen Yeah yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
I say this because if you watch.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
Thursday night football, and I know many of you are
listening to this after Thursday Night Football, we will see
if the trend continues.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
Are you saying people don't sit there and wait for this.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
I am not saying that at all.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
I'm just saying if they got busy and something happened
and their schedules got disrepted, right, I am certainly going
to keep a close eye on Thursday night football because
it's Minnesota at the Rams. Minnesota playing a barn burner
against Detroit. Last week they lost to Detroit. No team

(24:36):
has won the week after playing the Lions this year,
and in those games they have lost by an average
of twenty one points. It's not even close. So we'll
see if that continues. Obviously, for Seahawks fans, you'd like
a bounce back effort, right, but the Rams are hosting

(24:58):
I don't know. I don't know what any of it means.
I'm just spewing numbers and saying this could be interesting,
and I might not be watching after the second half.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (25:06):
I don't know, but I just thought it was interesting
because who knows how long that trend continues. Also, I
was buying time for you to tell me what it
is that you need to see from the Seahawks this
week to get a win.

Speaker 5 (25:16):
I want them to turn Josh Allen back into a
guy who throws some interceptions. I mean you're turning back
into a pumpkin. Sure, if that's what I mean. Hey,
Jared Goff long interception less streak going into the game
last year, Trey Brown pick six, that's true. I mean,
maybe I'll get greeting asked for a pick six, but
I at least want to see an interception.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
Two would be great.

Speaker 5 (25:34):
But yeah, secondly, I want you know, I know that
finish is important, but I want to see the Seahawks
and get ahead because we saw their offense.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
Really, yeah, you stole that one.

Speaker 5 (25:42):
Look, you don't need like initially, I don't care if
it's three nothing or is either way orly, just don't
don't fall behind by enough that you get imbalanced on offense.
And that's what we saw during that losing streak is
you know, every one of those games as they trailed
by double digits and kind of got pass happy. So
I want to see it either either play from ahead
or just within the score so you can have your
whole offense open to you.

Speaker 4 (26:03):
I'm gonna say take advantage of home field advantage and
the twelves because the splits, those road home splits for
the Bills are really really starkly different at home they're
three and oh they're averaging two hundred and seventy two
passing yards on the road. That's where their two losses
have come. And they're just passing for one hundred and
sixty six yards. So take advantage of the twelves and

(26:25):
of what you've.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
Got at home. I'm with you.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
Get out to an early lead so that you are
not forced to stray from the game plan, especially if
you don't have everybody there, including DK Metcalf. And you
know what if Jason Myers wants to continue the Year
of the Kicker and add on like another fifty nine
yard or sure.

Speaker 1 (26:41):
Sure, I mean I would take fifty eight. Let's not
get greedy, says.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
The person who just wanted two interceptions in a pick six.
I'm greedy with fifty nine. Okay, Fine, that's where we're
going to end today's conversation and we'll be back with
you next time on another edition of the Seahawks Insiders Podcasting.
