Speaker 1 (00:00):
Are you good, good, How y'all doing all right? What
are the uh what are the challenges? Or maybe the
excitement going into we one is different than any other
league of the season.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
I think a lot of uh jitters are built up
throughout the off season. People tired of practicing against each
other and wanna see a different opponent.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
So I think that's the build up and excitement that
that comes with Week one. Uh.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
But you know, it's still football at the end of
the day. You still got to put the ball down
and scored as many points as the other team that
were more points than others. After just the you know
brief cameo of the preseason, you pretty excited to see
what this offense can do, all with.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
All the guys out there for a full Ye yes, sir,
I know they were.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
We kept it pretty vanilla, uh during the preseason on
both sides of the ball. But you know, Grub is
known for his exposive plays down the field. So just
looking forward to you know, him opening up the playbook
just so we can you know, exploit defenses and uh,
you know, push the ball down the field.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Do you care?

Speaker 3 (00:55):
You talked about being different on the op Uh you
over how different is it on or why.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Can you explain maybe the oposphere or is it different
than your life than it was in doing it for
a while now? I mean we I gotta play week
went first.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Uh you know see uh you know how everything shakes out,
uh from the previous years. But you know, he still
wants to win, just like Pete wanted to win, you know,
just the name of the game. So I don't think
anything is pretty much different, you know in the past
where s we all have the same goal in mine
that's to you know, win a.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Super Bowl, but take it one week at a time.
Could you k a lot of people over at your
own touchdowns? You seem to get most excited when the
other guys on the team score. Talk about pride you
take in creating opportunities for the players.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Yeah, I mean it just comes down to just trying
to win the game. On doing whatever it takes to
you know, win and you know, just helping the team. Uh,
you know, just with my abilities, whether that's blocking or
catching the ball or uh being the decoy on the backside.
You know, just tryna you know, put the ball on
the end zone and score as many points as I mean, Fuck,
I keep saying that, uh score more points than the

(01:56):
other team that I need to pick a different word.
But we tryna win at the end of the day,
and you know, doing whatever it takes to win.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Do you think, what have you learned about night to
the last like six months or so. Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
He's very cerebral. Uh loves football, loves the game. Uh,
loves scheming up other opponents, loves watching film.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
He's just you know, all about football, all about uh,
you know, getting everybody better. And he's a very team
oriented guy. So uh, you know, one individual is not
bigger than the team. Uh. I think that's the main
thing that really uh you know sticks out about his
coaching points or uh, you know, his coaching approach.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Based on what you know about this offense and what
do you guys have go Well, so for what do
you feel like it's gonna be the rent and.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Batterer of your offense? And what you do best? Our
run game?

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Uh, we gonna all run the ball downhill and you know,
make the defense stop our run first and then you
know after that, you know, it's pretty much dealer's choice
with uh, you know how we wanna take the game
from there? We can Uh, you know, continue to run
the ball or push the ball down the field or
you know, get get singled up on the outside and
you know, exploit the corner. So I think it all
just starts with the run game and uh, you know,

(02:55):
building a foundation from there.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Did you always expect to say that about the side
of offense?

Speaker 1 (03:00):
He saw rub when he was in the dub, you know,
was exposed to place. Did you always expect to say
and it start with the run game?

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Nah? But he kind of you know, nipped that in
the bud the first UH offensive meeting that we had
with Uh, alright, guys, I know when we've had explosive players,
but you know, we're gonna run the ball.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
So I kind of got mad, yeah, real quick.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
But you know, I I think the foundation of uh
running the ball first is uh gonna open up everything
else for me Jack's lot, knowing everybody else in the
UH in the receiver room, in the tight end room.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Was that what the first thing you said here? Yeah? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (03:32):
What?

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Well? He was happy to be here. Then he said,
and did you talk about want the girl as a leader?
What do you think a great leader?

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Was? Like, I think, uh, my first couple of years here,
Bobby and Russ were the epitome of a great leader.
So you know doing what they did, uh lead by example, Uh,
speaking at the right time, following at the right time,
but also also taking care of your business first and
then uh trying to help others.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
He maybe it was just how is how you noticed.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
You for there of this off season in uh just
speaking life into his teammates. I think that's one thing
that he's done an incredible job at this off season.
You know, he's motivating us every play anytime we're in
the huddle. He's always tryna uh you know, motivate us
that you know, this is one play at the time,
one drive at the time that we're gonna score. Uh,
and he tries to get the best out of everybody

(04:20):
uh in the huddle uh at the time. So think
that's one thing that that he's done exceptionally well this offseason.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
What do you sean from him who just in trading
him in the pre season to the way he's looking
growing it this season.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
You can just see his confidence growing just by how
he's throwing the ball. Uh, he's no looking some passes
uh during practice. Uh, his swagger on the field, the
way he talks, I think it's gonna be a fun year,
you know, just by how he's approached this offseason and
how he's carried himself throughout this whole offseason.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Yeah, you've always been a team first guy. Or as
your questions, it's always about the team.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Again.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
So I don't know want to get at.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
You, because but you know how much you individual to
accomplishments DNT when he's on the stock sheet.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Nouns, probl and stuff, whether it comes to how other
people talk about you and person the top receivers of
the league, or even just setting yourself up in the future.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Uh, I think just not focusing on other people and
knowing myself first. Uh. Once I know myself and I
know who I am as a person and as a player.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Uh, you know, all the other accolades.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Are gonna take care of it's of themselves and just
also helping my team, cause if the team wins, then
you know, everybody else under the team wins. So uh,
just also just taking care of the team. Uh, taking
care of my brothers, taking care of ken Locke Jacks,
whoever the the case may be, whoever the uh who
has the ball at the time, Uh, making sure I
put uh my best effort of blocking and making sure

(05:38):
they getting the end zone. And you know, I think
that's gonna speak volumes to them and then it's gonna
trickle down to everybody else.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Did you you talk about you guys are decided to
play a new tea play someone else down Now it
matters like what is about Denver's defense and stands out
to you as a receiving You know, their secondary dans
are change? What about Denver's defense? Do you guys look
at it like? Why, it's pretty good? How do you
care for that?

Speaker 2 (05:57):
I think just with the the personnel that they they have.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Uh, they they mainly uh.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Run out of base nickel or penny and they're mainly
a one hot team. But they played the one high
very well, whether they're matching or playing zone. Uh. Like
you said, they got a great uh corner and pass
certain Uh got two new safeties. Uh Justin Simmons was
uh back there last year.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
They still got the same uh middle linebacker, but added
uh you know a few D line and uh a
couple of pieces on the D line. So I think
their personnel uh just fits their scheme. They will all
run to the ball, rally to the ball, and you
know they play hard, so uh we just got to
uh outphysical them, outplay them, and uh out hustle them
on the offensive side of the ball.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
And I think everything's gonna speak for itself. Have you
TI revolved the taught you?

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Hm, what's tire revolved it till you Uh if a
play breaks down, don't stop your route, just keep uh working.
I think, uh when I first got here, Uh, that's
one thing I saw from him at rust and uh
how he works after uh you know a play breaks down,
just how he runs routes. Always ask him his opinion
on certain routes or certain coverages or what he sees

(07:00):
uh here or we always talk about football and life
outside of football. So uh just a great brother, uh
that I've met throughout this whole journey.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
How much do you respect the faces? But you can
use one franchise. Uh. I mean he's lawyer, Uh, loyalty.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
He speaks volumes of a man's character, uh in my opinion,
and you know he's been loyal to this, to this team,
to this organization, to the city. So I mean he's
he's coming to my way one day. So thanks Tyler
Lockett for being a a good big brother to me.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Since I got here. You mentioned the offense, you kept
it pretty well. That's probably the case for the defense
as well. From what you see in practice against.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
A group every every game, Just what do you expecting
when the game is real and their shower every day.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
I'm about to go by each the three levels of
the defense.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
So Biron Murphy's gonna have a great season, Jay Reid,
uh Leonard Williams Channa when he gets back, boy is
gonna have a great season. Are two linebackers whoever's on
the field at the time, they're gonna have breakout seasons.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
A hundred plus.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Tackles to Reek's gonna have uh hell of a season
and uh Spoons going out a hell of a season
just going against him every day of practice.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Uh, they're definitely making me better. Trey Brown's gonna have
a great season.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Jay Love, uh Rashawn Jenkins, Cavon Wallace. So think the
whole defense is just excited to just get out there and
hit somebody else other than our offense.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Gino said, or the NFL Network interview, you've maybe lost
a little way.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
He was saying, you're in the best shape he's he's
ever seen him. I'm listening. He just say he said,
I think you that you finned out a little bit.
I think it's what he just what he said. That's
curious if that's true or if there was, if that
was sort of a focused for you that you try.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
It was a little like I hat and lost a
weight then view. No, I'm still the same size. I
my face probably got a little skinned. I mean I'm
growing a little you know beard, you know, but that's
about it. Okay, Yeah, I ain't slimmed down, though I'm
probably still.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Saying, yeah, do you think grubs got you playing uh
around a little bit more? So? He was like that
way you talking about the challenges and advantages uh for
you or I've getting moved around the field a little bit.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
I think the only challenges I gotta learn more plays,
more positions, the advantages defenses have to you know, stop
me on the inside and Jackson lock 'em the outside
or vice versas.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
So I think.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Just uh brings in another element that the defense has to,
you know, stop on our offense.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
