being moved up by a week?

Speaker 2 (00:04):
You got a right, man, We're we're ecstatic.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
That's I mean, we we've we were always always gonna
work hard, but you know that that adds a little
extra motivation there, get a little chance to get some
work in and get off for another break before the
real bullets start flying.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
You think, a chance to join your team in Ogson
seven from good way through?

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Did you look them war to this maybe more than
the other years because of them?

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Oh, one hundred percent.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
I mean I said a uh, you know, a good,
good little bit last year. I mean, this place fits me.
I love this team, I love this defense. I love
those players in that locker room. So having a chance
to be around them and build something you know that
we weren't able to build, you know later in the
year early now and get that camaraderie and everyone closer.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
You can't beat that. What what did it mean to they?

Speaker 1 (00:47):
They made you contractionally and all that.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Oh meant everything to me one. Uh, you know, opportunity
to continue playing football, and I think for me, the
opportunities that it's done for my family, being able to
do certain stuff for my mom, my wife, my son,
and you know, make sure they're good.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
So that was big for me. You know, I owe.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
This organization a lot, and I'm excited and looking forward
to doing that.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
You have to be traded twice in a year.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Just how nice is know.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
You have that stability of like I'm gonna be able
to place for a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
That's good.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
I'm expecting to know to for for for the mental
to be clear and you know, get out there and
go play my best football yet because I haven't done
that thus far.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
So I'm excited.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
How special was that when you bought your mom car
and her reaction.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
It was the best something I dripped about since I
was six years old.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Man like being able to do that.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
And once you know, we got the news that the
contract was you know, everything was good. I flew back
the next day and went on and you know, got
it done for so it was it was perfect And
you can have.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Alluded to it like the fokad of last year, but looking.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Back on it, I haven't get moved with your family.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Twice since spent up a couple of months and.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Then you know, trying to make the playoffs and everything,
learning the defense. How stress almost just the almost.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, I mean it was so stressful.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
I'll tell you this, like maybe uh maybe around April,
me and my wife finally like we were you know,
laying down and we looked at each other and we're like, dang,
I finally feel like clear headed with everything that was
going on, you know, we couldn't focus on our situation.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
We just had to attack what was next.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
And having this time off to really truly you know,
think about and punder on what happened. It's a blessing
to be where I am now. But like I said earlier,
I'm I'm more focused on now playing my best football
and and going out here and being the best linebacker

(02:39):
that this team seen.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
So you feel fully settled that though?

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yeah, Yeah, for sure, definitely settled in playbooks coming.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
And I just feel great.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
I'm excited about the opportunities that we have, Excited about
where we're.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
At and where we could be. So what about healthwives,
how you doing after the me whatever you had it.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Was, I'm feeling really good getting back in the mix
right now with the guys.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
So I'm excited. Like I said earlier, haven't.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Been able to you know, play my best ball and
whether it be the knee or whether it be you know,
other circumstances.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
But I'm excited for this year truly.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Is that kind of nagging you all of last season
at all?

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Or Yeah, it's been nagging me for two seasons, just
been playing through it. Was able to finally get it,
you know, fixed and corrected this offseason. So I'm excited
now for like I said, for what we got and
how I can potentially push us a little bit more
with that clear.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Mind that you've learning to play book, you got thrown
into the mix to be a season.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
What everything else that's going on? And how much do.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
You feel like you're ahead of the curve right now
from a metal standpoint and learning this complexity and text
shags and stuff that you.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Didn't learn last year? Yeah, I mean one hundred percent.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
I'm able to kind of make make things easier for
everyone else, So make you know, make calls ahead of
one they're supposed to be called, get the D line
lined up, and like I'm still learning it, still learning
the tune details of it.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
But as far as.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
A mental space and where I'm at, I'm clear and
ready to go.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
What do you feel about your other South Carolina Gang.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
On the roster. I love it. I love it. It
was good.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
You know, it was able to he came in for
his visit. I was able to see him sit there,
talk with him for a little bit, and I was like, yeah,
trying to tell Mike, hey, he's a South Carolina guy.
You know you've had some success with those, so it's
good to have him here. He's picking up everything. He's
really mature, he's learning, and we're excited.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
To have him, and you're gonna get him with the guys.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
When you came, they were warming up and then you
came on and that full doing.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Everybody else was giving you a hard time. What did that?
What was that moment like for you?

Speaker 3 (04:42):
No, honestly, those are the moments that you know you
kind of in a sense play this game for just
you know, seeing your teammates excited about, you know, the
progress you've made after having a surgery, and just seeing
him excited to have you out there. That's kind of
for me, That's what I live for. I love my teammates.
I love making them come, making him happy. So it
was great for me.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Do you see yourself or do you work on me?
Just talking like the leadership and see for me, my
leadership is it's vocal and I and I try to
go by action. I'm one too.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
If there's a problem, I'm want to, you know, respectfully,
let's address it and let's move forward. Nobody's bigger than
the program. Nobody's bigger than At the end of the day,
the end goal is to win, So that's all I'm
here for.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
It sounded like Mike, can I evault you in the visit,
but he made it was dope.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
It was super cool.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
I was there meeting with Mike, just chatting, and then
Nick walked in and we had a bet right before
Nick walked in. He bet me with Nick know who
I am, And of course he gladly. I'm glad he did.
He did know who I was, and so I won
that bet with him. But it was good seeing it
from that aspect, seeing how coach handles did and you know,

(05:56):
after football, I have dreams to you know, being.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
The being this and do certain things like that. So
for me, that was super cool. I want you in coninuity.
Helpless defense.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
I g it's ten of the guys who were ten
of eleven starters from the end of last season.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Her back. I think it's gonna be special. I'm excited.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
I don't want to, you know, give too much because
we got to go of course, put the work in.
But if if the vision lives up to what I
think it's gonna be something crazy.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Was there a story behind the car that you got
your mom.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Story behind it? I mean other than we've been talking
about this for years. Uh, you know what's her favorite
brand of cars? And of course I went out there
and I knew she loved Mercedes. She's had an old
Mercedes for a while. So seeing that one knew what
color she wanted, gray with red seats, and it was
match made in heaven.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
She actually winned anything on that fact if you're gonna
be actually no, I'm still waiting for that mic.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
By the way, So what we we had something on it?
I can't remember, but there's gotta be something. Maybe a
blitz he can throw in for me when the season starts.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
That that'll work.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
You get to start a bunch of games and the
tyres after the game here did you how much communications
did you have with him during the off season and.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
How much you see from that position.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Standpoint, the continuity and linebacker helping you guys right.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Out the gall Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
I mean for me, when I first got here, he
was a guy that was kind of already talking to me.
A lot of guys addressed him as rook, but he was.
He had me being in year four. He was helping
me out learn the playbook and stuff. So we've had
that relationship. And just to see how our relationship off
the field has grown since you know, I got here,

(07:32):
I think that's only gonna make us when we're on
the field play like with the same person, you know,
just be connected.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
How did you've been here? And man, what do you
like about Seattle?

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Honestly, I'm a simple guy, so it's really simple living
out here. It rains a lot so and I don't
like to go anywhere, so it works out perfectly for me.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
So, I mean, I love it. The people here are nice.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
My family's comfortable, met some nice neighbors, so I'm excited.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
It's it's it's fun for me.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
People know you and Tyreee. So obviously the starters at linebacker,
what about the rest of the guys in that linebacker room,
and also Jamie Sheriff kind of making the move to
that spot.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
I say that to all them a bunch of ballers.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Like any given Sunday, if you know, God forbid anything happens.
But if they if those guys have to go out
there and play meaningful reps, they can get the job done. Drake,
Patty d Jack, Sheriff, Josh. I mean, those guys, they
put the work in and it shows. We push each
other each and every day. Regardless of you know, me
being a starter or highest paid in there, I want

(08:34):
them to push me. It's just like I'm the guy
on the low low end of the total polpe.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
So we work. We go to work in that room
and we we lift each other up. And if they
had to go play, they can get it done.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
We saw on the draft this year a couple of
players that were inside backers that also play edge. You
actually were pretty productive when you were coming off the
edge last year.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Is that something that you've worked.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
On at all.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
No, I've never had any work as far as like
you know, blitzing, especially in college South Carolina. I stood
there honestly just when to tackle people. So that that's
kind of something that's you know, natural that I could
work on a lot more and I can get better
at and that you know, That's one of the things
that I'm looking for going into the season, you know,

(09:17):
fixing and correcting.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
As he was the defense here, you guys look for Hoopers.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
I like us man, I like us versus anything and anybody.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
That's how I leave it as to say, you haven't
played your best ball yet. What is your best ball?

Speaker 3 (09:30):
But like Hooper, I can play better and I'm excited.
I'm excited for what we got coming here.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
I think it was in the ninth or something within
the top ten and scoring deepens last year. What do
you feel like is the next step that's playing for
your group?

Speaker 2 (09:48):
I think it's the little things.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
I think, honestly, it's it's being on the mic now
for you know, some of those guys a whole year,
getting to know him, getting to know how he likes
to call the game.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
He makes it.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Super easy for we prepare for it to be easy.
But I just think just the growth that we'll have
as a team, connecting, being closer, defense, not allowing you know,
little mistakes to hinder us from you know, being where
we need to be. I think those where we will take
those steps from being you know, aid to where we
want to be. And that's the best in the league.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
When you look back at some of those with stakes,
could you attribute some of those to just, Hey, you
guys have a bunch of guys that haven't played together.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
I haven't played Let's steak Tenser very well.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Yeah, you, I mean you you like to put it,
you know, all of it on that, but you know,
in certain situations it was you know, personal, it was
us knowing what to do just not doing it, or
you know, the moments just not being too big. But
the moments are intense and you have to be there
for those moments and you gotta just rise to the occasion.
And we didn't rise and the other teams did, so

(10:51):
I think that's what we got to.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
You know, hone in on right now on defense.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
Seth Hooper, And I know you're talking about football, but
I assume you've maybe played some basketball.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
Some of the guys get basketball.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
I like to watch it, but I know what a
good Hooper looks like. But me, nah, I'm a rebounding guy.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
What is tice you about your front line and what
they can do?

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Just the versatility, I mean, the guy, you got guys
up front that can play inside, play edge. We can
do so many different things, adding in d law. I
I they're just a bunch of beast up front. You
gotta you know, you have to worry about him. The
the D line, you have to worry about those guys,
and you as an offense, you have to at first

(11:34):
protect against those guys first. And I think that just
gives the linebackers more opportunities and secondary the ability to
make more players.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
The attendance here that the shot, it's pretty much damn
one hundred percent thirty year old, yeah freed Yeff Williams Hankins.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
What's that tell you about what you guys got?

Speaker 3 (11:55):
I think, I think for for this team, I think
we were bought into the goal and the mission and
the goal is to put another banner up in here.
And I think you know, everyone you know believes in that,
and we're gonna.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
Show up the work and do what we have to
do to make sure we get it done.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Did you guys talk Eternave, that's all show if you
just all did it.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
I think it was.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
It wasn't something that we just sat there and said, hey,
make sure you're here. But if we want to be
who we say we're gonna be, if we want to
do what we want to do, and that's when the
best teams I've been around OTAs were really good. So
I think that's just a direct reflection of what the
work you get in here and what carries you into

(12:38):
the season.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
