Speaker 1 (00:00):
How's a field to partake in running back drills? Is
that something that you ever did at Alabama?
Speaker 2 (00:05):
No, it is a different world out there. But shout
out to coach Paul Malough getting me right. He's a
fantastic coach. Love working with him.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
What are you try to soak in in these couple
of days that you get on the fields?
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Honestly, just not taking the moment for granted, it really
didn't hit me when I got the phone call on
draft day, but going out on that field yesterday it
finally sunk in. So just taking it all in and
just giving it everything I got and just trying to go.
Want to know, every rep.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
What are you learning about playing fullback?
Speaker 2 (00:36):
There's a lot, you know, coming from the tight end position,
it's a lot of different leverage, so really changing my
footwork up, kind of changing my attack angle on defenders
and learning to make make decisions on the go instead
of letting the defender come to me. So there's a lot.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
There for your earlier pressions of the offense. I feel
like the fullbacks kind of used a lot in the
passing game.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Oh yeah, oh yeah. I don't know if it's just
the offense or Milroe feeding me. But yeah, I got
a lot of looks there early on, so I just
got to make the most of my opportunities.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
How much do you see your tight end background helping
from that perspective being a pass catcher?
Speaker 1 (01:13):
I know you had two touchdown or sententions last year.
Know you said that's not as important as blocking to you,
but how does that tight end background?
Speaker 2 (01:19):
It definitely helps, just being more of a natural at
tracking the ball, turning, getting up field, lowering my shoulder
cause you know that can be a for foreign into
a lot of fullbacks. But yeah, it kind of it
kind of runs into receiving.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
What's your impression of the guys, the other guys you
got to meet this last couple of days.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
I love everybody here. It just it feels like home.
Got a great group of guys in the running back
room with Damien and all the rest of the boys,
and it just kind of motivates you every day to
come in and work for those guys.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
I heard you might be making a cross country road
trip on your way back here. Is that is that
the plan?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Uh? Yeah, we'll have to figure that situation out later.
But great to be here.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
I know when we covered Mike rob way way way
back in the old days. He talked about needing to
read to play like a running back and having to
see that from the fullback spot. What is it going
to be like for you trying to learn what those
sitelines look like and care you know what the guy
behind you.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Is going to s. Yeah. So yeah, it's definitely a
different world than what I'm used to from college. But
you know, like I said earlier, coach paulam always been
very fundamental in helping me kind of look at the
play in a different perspective. So really just seeing what
the running back is seeing and learning that he's gonna
trust me and it's up to meet him to give
(02:36):
him a little window of opening.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Any difference in terms of what they're giving you, any
instructions in terms of your body, they want you to
train any differently than you've trained up till.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Now, not in particular. They just want me to be
strong and explosive at the same time. So definitely could
work on my conditioning a little bit. Weight might drop
five ten pounds, but just as long as I feel good,
that's the most important thing.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
How many years would you do competitive swimming?
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Maybe eight? Or ten Oa.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Do you still swim at all ever?
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Or uh every now and then? Just Ricardia okay, yes sir,
anything else, Thank you, good, Thank y'all,
