Speaker 1 (00:02):
Your tunes about Drive on your twenty four to seven
home of the Black and Goal Steelers Nation Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Good afternoon, Steelers Nation, and welcome to the Drive on
the Steelers Audio Network. West Shooler and Matt Williamson with
you here on a jam packed Tuesday where there is
plenty going on both around around the National Football League
and in Steelers Land. Matt, as, we're kind of right
on the precipice, the edge of the final seconds, final

(00:50):
minutes of the trade deadline. Could something happen last minute
across the timeline. If it does, obviously we will react.
We'll react to everything that has transpired across the end today.
But just as we kind of wait for the final
teas to be crossed, i's to be dotted, Matt, I
figure we start where we typically would, which is with
a little Tomlin Tuesday. You know, just a few hours ago,

(01:12):
the head coach giving his weekly press conference. With that, Matt,
I think always some pertinent injury updates that we're always
waiting to hear from. And then some of the things,
particularly from my standpoint, you knew he was going to
be asked and was going to talk about what they
did schematically against the Colts, particularly on defense, particularly at
the safety position, and he did that as well too.

(01:35):
The Steelers have also made some practice squad moves before
we even approach the trade deadline and everything here. So
I don't know many where do you want to start
you want to start with? I feel like we spent
a lot of time Monday highlighting the defense some of
those changes, what they were able to do there, So
should we kind of pick back up there with what
Mike Tomlin talked with me today. Mike Tomlin said that

(01:57):
Jalen Ramsey will continue to work exclusive at safety this week.
He said he was really impressed by Brandon Eckles, thought
he stepped up and has kind of handled everything that
they've asked him to do, and that they're obviously more
confident in their depth at corner than they are or
just that they have more depth at corner yeah, yeah,
than they do it safety. But that was one of

(02:17):
those kind of big I don't even want to say
headline grabbing because that makes it sound clickbaitish in a way,
but that's one of the things that stood out to
me about what Mike Tomlin said today. He didn't say
we'll approach the week, we'll see how it plays out. Yeah,
and wait for health status, he said. Jalen Ramsey will
continue to work exclusively at Safety this week.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
So Tom Offerman and I do the pre pregame show
You do a good job, by the way, I thank you.
So that comes on four hours before kickoff and we
go for two hours, you know, So this week it'll
be late. You know, usually it's at nine And at
that point we were just starting the shows, like nine am.
When we're sitting in here and we were talking about
the whole safety situation. It's like, man, they got a
lot of balls in the air at that point. And

(03:00):
I guess Missy was listening, and she texted me and
she's like, go check out this blurb from coach Tomlin
and Labs that you know how they sit down.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Before sit down. That's the best stuff you get from
Mike Tomlin ever.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Good right, I mean they must have such a good.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
I'm sure they do. And Labs just hey, to his credit,
he knows how to ask the right questions to get
the right answers. Yeah, that's he knows how to frame
it to get the good stuff from Tomlin as well.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
So in that you know, uh, It was on Steelers
dot Com, but it said Tomlin had said, well, exclusive,
he used the same word then exclusively it's safety. And
I was like, yeah, because usually coaches aren't that definitive.
And then to say it again today he's a safety, folks.

(03:50):
I mean that doesn't mean forever and ever, but for
now he's a safety. And I had tweeted this stuff,
and I don't know exactly if it's one thousand percent accurate,
but over eighty percent of his snaps he aligned at safety.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Yes, he did a couple down in the slot and
things like that, right.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
But safeties do that now too, And you know, so
that's what I mean, what exactly is a safety location
versus just an overall defensive back blah blah blah. But
the most he had ever done safety stuff in his
career at any any game in the NFL was like
thirty percent. So, but he came to Florida State as
a safety. Yes, you know, I don't know what their

(04:26):
plan was when they recruited him.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
But he was you'll probably you'll probably remember this better
than I will, but I'm pretty sure when he came
out of high school, he was the number one rated
corner in his class and the number one rated safety
would be its So.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Not shocked by that. Yeah, it totally adds up. But
I thought, okay, you know when I read that, pregame
thinking that's smart. You know, he's the most free of
them of them all, he's definitely the most knowledgeable experienced,
even though that's not really his position or has it
ever been. But they so much up in the air

(05:01):
right now. Peppers is ill Clark and he isn't gonna
play and what's his face? The new guy Dougger.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Dogger just days ago.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
So you need somebody to stabilize things in a Minca
like manner. And boy did he ever, you know? I
mean I think it was a huge success story. And frankly,
I don't know how much they trust Thornhill anymore. I mean,
he really seemed to have fallen out of favor, so
why not roll that back with Dougger and Ramsey. And
I'm not sure Pepper's story is totally written either, I

(05:33):
assume over his illness.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yeah, now, of course that's the kind of real monkey wrenship.
What would his role have been if he was healthy
on Sunday? I think it would have been something.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Oh, I think of it.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
So I'm not saying he would have played as many
snaps as Dougger and Ramsey, obviously, but he would have
He would have played, He would have contributed.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Somewhere in the mix, right. And I don't know clark
story is totally written either, But of the four, Ramsey, Dougger,
Pepper's Clark, Clark's my least favored, as he moves the
slowest of the group. So you maybe you found something there.
I mean, Dougger and Ramsey weren't your safeties up until
four days ago or whatever, right, and maybe they will

(06:10):
be the rest of the way. Now, Tom, and I
guess mentioned this, You know, you're just referring to what
you said there. Well, we like our corner depth, but
if Ramsey's not a corner, your corner depth, all of
a sudden is just slay porter ecles.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Especially with Corey Trice's dets. I'm excited we saw Pierre
out there, right.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
I mean that's not so bad. Yeah, you know, I
mean I f Thatt your fourth guy, But all of
a sudden, I don't love the corner depth as much,
you know what I mean? Yes, So who knows?

Speaker 2 (06:44):
And they did make some practice squad moves in that
regard since we've last spoken here yesterday, just there were
some more here, but specifically with the cornerbacks. They released
Beanie Bishop off the practice squad. They added to Kwan
Hardy to the practice squad, defensive back Penn Steak, Guy Penhills,
kids who grew up here here locally.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
So not earth shattering, but right, not earth shattering.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
But maybe you and I we talked about this a
lot when the initial fifty three man roster came out.
Beanie Bishop is a nickel, He's a slot. He doesn't
have the versatility of these other guys. Maybe they just
value especially when you're when you're a little short in
that department. Maybe you want somebody who you feel can
wear multiple hats on game day. Maybe that's the reasoning

(07:29):
behind this. Maybe they just wanted to get a look
at somebody else who knows. The was some some tweaking
to the defensive backs on the practice squad as well.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Too, So along these lines just about game day now
you mentioned it. You know, Pierre is going to be
active because of special teams qualifications. But kind of an
underreported story. There's two things actually want to brew. It
was kind of an underreported story that they activated Lou
Nichols and Sermon.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Yeah, five active running backs.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
On GAACK, So really for special teams reasons, you know.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
But that's a lot for like back in the Wishbone days.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
Right right, five And those guys didn't play on offense
and then they had no intentions I assume of playing them.
But they had five active game day running backs, which
is weird. But it also told me we're kind of
looking for our best core special teamers too, you know.
I mean, we know Killer Brew's out of the mix,
and when you lose, that's the biggest dog you got.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Totally.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
But one thing I want to mention yesterday that we
didn't that I just want to people don't think about
these things. But probably outside the person that kicks the football,
the punter and pause, the most important guy in all
special teams is probably the personal the protector.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Yeah, bigger more so than the long snapper maybe.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Yeah, similar, I mean, just they're kind of the quarterback
and they're they got to the page.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
It's always like your best special team or your core guy,
you know, the dude that's on the team.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Just it's kind of like you do guy of your
special team really.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
Well said exactly. I mean, that's that's a really important
trust position. And I always tell people too, when you're
not sure who's going to make the team in the preseason,
watch who's on the first punt team. That says a lot,
you know, because it means that, like, I trust you.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
It's football dork stuff. You're absolutely right.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
But that's where I'm going with this is Killer Brew
has been the personal protector since he's been here, and
he's great at it and everyone's thrilled with it. Well
he's not in the mix. So what they did is
they took Skoronik, who's a really good gunner and move
them to personal protector. Good for you that he got promoted.
I mean he's next in line, sure, But then you
were short, right right, And I think it was I

(09:33):
think Eccles did it. He did because we saw him
on the muff. But some key components of special teams
right now are in flux. And I'm sure the same
is true on kickoff and kickoff return too and plan.
I'm talking about all that. But I wanted to throw
that's good for Scronic, you know. I wanted to mention
that yesterday.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Absolutely I am glad you mentioned that, and you like
that you're confident in Eckles to slide him into that role.
But then once again, you're asking him to play more
snap right when you're already a little thin at corner depth.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
And it's I mean, peop, don't think about this either.
But like you run down as a gunner, you're against
double teams, getting beat up. Sometimes they drive you into
the into the seats almost and then you gotta cover
Randy mosson next player, you know, like the defensive.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Place, sixty yards fighting off two guys, right, and then
here comes a p.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
It's a commercial break. It's like I gotta guard this dude, right,
you know, Maconkey this week or whatever. So that's not easy.
I mean, do one's starting corners necessarily doing that? And
I brought that up just because Beanie, maybe they're bringing
in the new guy, the Penhills dude or whatever, just
because he has more special teams acumen.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
It's a great point.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
He might be a bigger body or more experience on teams.
And it's weird to me that they have the they
brought the two running backs.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Yeah, you know, it's something to keep an eye on.
For sure, it matters, but there's there's always rhyme to
the reason. Sometimes you just got to read through the
tea leaf. So yeah, figure it out. Last thing that
that we obviously have to discuss as it relates to
the Mike Tomlin press conference today is of course, those
weekly injury updates. Scotty Miller and Cole Holcom are out

(11:12):
to start the week, but could work their way back.
Scotty Miller did not practice last week with that finger injury.
Cole Holkm obviously dealing with an illness that kept him
out on Sunday. It is that.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
Surprising he's still living there. Usually that gets cleared pretty quick.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
It must be Hey, there must be something going around.
That's one of my favorite yinsers. Me and me and
video producer Tyler ve always joke about that from November
through March. Anytime you have like a cough or a
sore throat in Pittsburgh and you tell somebody, they go, oh, yeah,
you know something's going around. Take your airborne, take your vitamins.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
You guys are joking a month or so ago, and
I never knew that was a Pittsburgh thing. Told you guys,
said it to.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Be fair maybe they say it other place. I'm sure
they say it, and I bet Southern California.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
I bet I gets sick there.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
But yeah, every time, every time, every time, you know,
like there's something going on with my daughter's daycare. I
look at my wife and I go, hey, you know
there's something going around, a little hand, foot in mouth
going around. Scotty Miller and Cole Holcom out to start.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
Like diseases, take time off, and don't you go around
other times? You know you're correct.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
They take their summer seat, they go to they go
to Europe. They vacation in southern France during the summer.
Bacterium and Isaac say Aamali with the Peck and Jabrill
Peppers are working towards their return.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Peppers was an illness too, right.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Peppers was an illness too, and dealing with guys dealing
with that popped up on the injury report as well too.
And then Chuck Clark with the illness expected to be
back in practice.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
So it seems like when we start really digging into
practice report, see them all, who's going to be the
one that's most of.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Interest, questionable and most of interesting And there's.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
No chance he practice Wednesday. He often doesn't when he's
one thousand percent healthy, you know, so let's keep that
in mind any mention of Slay's finger.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Did not see anything about that or hear anything about.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
That, but just talking to people at the game, people
thought he was in a lot of pain, so I
would give him credit for coming back. And I also
thought high Smith ankle was not a nothing because I mean,
he was hurt and bad, came back in and was
awesome in this game. But they taped it heavily, so
maybe like Wednesday, he'll be.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
A dislocated finger was what Mike Tomlin called it after
the game.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
And people play through that stuff. It's easy for us,
like it's justine other ones. You'll get stuck in face
masks and whatnot. He'll be fine, But yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Didn't see anything specific on his status. Could hear anything
specific on his status today from Mike Tomlin. But that
will that's a good call by you. That's something that
you know when we get the initial when we get
the initial weekly practiced report tomorrow, and I'm sure.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
We won't know anything about see them all till.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
At least Friday, Thursday, and then I bet you on
Friday he'll be listed as questionable or probable, you know,
and then and then we'll go from there.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
And again, I hate talking injuries, but from what I
understand with his peck situation, it's kind of a pain
tolerance thing all totally, and it's very painful. It's not
like I hate. Sometimes you say that and people are like, oh,
then he'll be five.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Just take a shot, no problem, numb it up for
three hours. Yeah, okay, easy for you, easy, easy for
you to say. That's one of those injuries too. Remember
a couple of years ago when TJ tore his peck
was at the start of the season against Cincinnati, I
want to say yeah, And I think it was that
crazy overtime season opener in Cincinnati a few years ago

(14:35):
where Cincinnati all they had to do was kick an
extra point with like two seconds left on the clock
to win, make a blocked it, and then the Steelers
won in overtime that game. I think that was three
or four seasons ago. TJ tore his peck on in
that first game of that season, and I remember talking
to Motes about that on the show that week, because
he tore his peck when he was and he was
like it's the worst thing ever. He's like, He's like,

(14:57):
it feels like they're taking like a like a cottering
iron and like shoving it into your chest, like it's
just a burning, pulling, burning hot sensation.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
I think it happened to it as well, Yeah, Orda recently.
And I always think of the lineman because it often
is I'm on a block and I'm trying to pull
and I'm trying to make a one arm tackle and
it ends up getting wrenched back the end.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Or You're right. There are some things that are like
there's a difference between a broken bone and a muscle injury,
and some of it is pain tolerance. But that's one
of those.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
That's like, it can't be fun.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
I would rather let you punch me in the face,
oh yeah, than have a torn pack. I mean, without
a doubt, not even close.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
Matt.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
Let's take our first break here when we come back
on the other side. Like I said, we mentioned one
of those practice squad moves for the Steelers, but there
was more moving and shaking in that department, as well
as kind of a notable name of wide receiver that
the Steelers added to the practice squad. We'll get into
all of that more trade deadline reaction here is kind
of the final moves come across the timeline as we

(15:59):
roll along. It's also Tuesday, so we got to talk
a little fantasy football and do some power rankings before
we get out of here. Plenty going on. It is
the Drive on Steelers Nation Radio on the Steelers Audio Network,
your tunes.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
About Drive on your twenty four to seven home of
the Black and Goal. Steelers Nation Radio.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Back on the Drive here on a busy Tuesday, as
it is the trade deadline across the NFL. We're still
waiting before we kind of shut the book, just to
just to make sure, just to close the door before
we kind of get into all of the trades and
breaking news and all that stuff of today. But Matt,
one thing that we do know is that the Steelers

(17:00):
have signed a wide receiver to their practice squad. And
it's a I think familiar name if you're somebody who
follows the NFL, has followed the NFL throughout the years.
Wide receiver Marquez Valdez Scantling has been added to the
practice squad. He was a teammate of Aaron Rodgers back
in Green Bay. Fifth round pick by the Packers in
twenty eighteen, most recently with the San Francisco forty nine Ers.

(17:24):
He appeared in five games for the Niners this year,
four receptions for forty yards when the Niners were going
through that kind of crazy ratch injuries of yes, of
injuries and all that. Eight seasons in the NFL, one
hundred and eleven games Packers, Chiefs, Bills, Saints, and Niners,
two hundred and nine receptions in his two hundred and

(17:47):
nine receptions in his career, three thousand, six hundred yards,
twenty touchdowns, and obviously the relationship with Aaron Rodgers. Matt
does mvs have anything left in the tank.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
It doesn't really move the needle for me. As you
kind of just cited their journeyman. Now, he's been with
a lot of teams in a short amount of time.
We kind of talked about last segment. The fact that
he doesn't play any special teams. I don't think probably
doesn't help his cause, you know, I mean pull back card.
I mean like in the real world of NFL football,

(18:23):
if you're the fourth receiver, not the top three, but
fourth or and certainly fifth, you better be contributed on
special teams. I mean, there's some teams that get away
with it where the top four are not special teamers.
But that was the beauty of a Hayward Bay, you know, Like,
is he the best receiver in the world. No, but
he was a really good special teamer and he was
a veteran in the room full of maniacs at the time.

(18:47):
So I think that hurts Valdez scantling. Now they're not
hiring him or signing him to be a special teamer. Anyways.
He's big and fast. He's six' three. ISH i don't
know what his exact height, is but he's. Tall he's,
long long, levers and he's a downfield outside the number
go route, specialist you, KNOW i, mean long, strider big,

(19:09):
body has a lot of, drops has a lot of,
inconsistencies doesn't have the best ball. Skills but big and
fast is, nice you, know and it keeps you in
the league a long. Time as he's, proven you.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Know anything to his prior relationship With Aaron, rodgers And.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
I'm sure it breaks some.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
Ties that breaks all ties in terms of getting him
here and him being the guy that they decide to.
Sign but does that do anything to potentially get him
on the, field.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
Baby AND i don't know that that's like a massive
indictment On Wilson miller any of those. Guys But i'm
Sure aaron vouched for. HIM i don't know if he
went to. Ownership people get this screwed up, too, like
especially With rogers, Career, LIKE i don't think he like
goes to ownership with The, jets we have to Sign
Randall cobb that you, KNOW i, mean like they're, available

(19:57):
we know that you've worked with them how to. Go,
Well i'm a. Fan that doesn't, mean you, KNOW.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
I think that's been a little bit of a misnomer
about him throughout his, career that he goes to the
GM's office and pounds the table for his. Guys, well
the other.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
Thing about him too, is as anyone that's paid attention
since he's been, here he's such a perfectionist that those
guys check the boxes more than they like to drink beers.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Together he wants people that speak his language.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
Exactly But i'm gonna do things my. Way i'm an
old dog And i'm not losing learning new.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
Tricks And i've had a lot of success doing it this.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Time, yeah AND i know it works if you can
get on that, ship THEN i know it gives you the.
Benefit doubt it's to, Me.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Matt and you see this all the time now in
college football in these last what five or six years
that we've had this transfer portal, era head coach leaves
SCHOOL a to take a bigger job at school b. Oh,
yeah and he takes a dozen of his guys With
Kurt Signetti Indiana. Football, yeah but he knows he's completely
in a year and a, half completely changed the, fortunes the,

(20:59):
culture the, expectations the status of that. Program when he
came FROM jmu and took that job AT, iu he
brought like fourteen players From James madison To.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
Blue miss guys that are also culture dudes and in thatvery, level.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
And that's how you set the. Culture and those guys
speak the same language as the, coach and they know
how he's going to run the, practice and they know
exactly what he. Expects and maybe they're not your most
talented guys on the, roster but they get it and
they help everybody else get on the same. Page.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Coach, Yeah winter workouts and all the kind of things
behind the, Scene and this is how we operate in
the weight room and blah blah blah, blah and you
know they're they're telling their buds that they're in their, Parties, like,
dude don't mess with this. COACH i, mean like He's Aaron.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Rodgers he tells he needs it seven and a half.
Yards he doesn't mean seven or, eight he means seven
and a.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
Half, yeah, Exactly so it's. FINE i, mean it's a
practice squad. Move it's not a huge needle. Mover who
knows if when when in it will see?

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Him you, know, correct we might not even if The
steelers stay healthy at wide receiver the rest of the,
way this might end up being water under the.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
Bridge who.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
Knows some of those other like we, mentioned they're more
more practice squad moves as well. Too so The steelers
basically added three to the practice squad and released. Three
so we mentioned To Kwan, hardy they also added. Mvs
they also added familiar, name familiar, Face Mark robinson back
to the Practice.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
YEAH i was forgot that he was, gone but, Good.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Hey he's proven that he can he can fill in
when you need him in the.

Speaker 3 (22:28):
Past, yeah right, RIGHT i, mean the seventh round pick
that hadn't played linebacker long when they drafted, him he
was a running back to, backgrounds, right because he's a,
big strong, athlete AND i didn't expect him to turn
Into Jack ham And Jack lambert, combined you know WHAT i.
Mean but he made a living here and you got
better and better on special, teams which was super. Important you,
Know danny trusted him more and more as he was,

(22:49):
here so you could to have him in the.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
Mix, no it is certainly we'll see what's going on
with that linebacker, room because it does feel like they're
pretty set. There, yeah particularly what you've seen From queen And.
Wilson harrison had a big role this. Week harrison played
a handful of snaps. Obviously Cole. Hokum hopefully he can
get healthy and and and get back out. There but,
hey to bring a guy Like Mark robinson back in

(23:13):
that you're familiar, with that you trust and know his skill, set,
WELL i don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
Familiar guys back to. Totally you know exactly where they're
at and right.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
Totally so the three that they Released Beanie, bishop as we,
mentioned then.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
Your Boy beanie could get, picked get brought back next, week.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
Could get brought back next, week absolutely. Absolutely LINEBACKER kJ
henry also got, released And John Reese plumbley getting as.
Well so those are the three. Quarterback he's listed as
a wide receiver, now but he was a quarterback in training. Camp. Yeah,
yeah he's a crazy. Athlete, yeah, yeah did it all in.
College was a really good baseball HE'S i don't know

(23:50):
if you remember, this BUT i think it would have
been two years ago at training. Camp would have been
his first year with The. Steelers AND i remember telling
you And dale And motes and some people this. Story
there was a really cool like. Feature so he was
AT ucf in. College there was a really cool feature
THAT ucf did where he played for the baseball team
as well.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
Too, YEAH i DID i love this.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
STORY i remember they did like this six or seven
minute like many documentary of. Him he played in the
spring game at noon one year FOR. Ucf he played
in the spring game at noon and then played in
a baseball game at like seven o'clock at. Night so
that like shows him in the spring game and practicing
and everything and then getting ready and he like takes
a golf card over to the baseball facility and, like

(24:32):
so he's an. Athlete you, know like mister do it.
All but he's listed as he's listed as a wide
receiver at the higher, level.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
But he got playing you, know but, yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
But that that was PRETTY i remember seeing that and being,
like that's pretty. Cool he's pretty cool playing your playing
your spring game and then go over and play a you,
Know division one baseball game in the same.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
Day, either you, know, like oh that's a that's a high.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
LEVEL i, Mean big twelve baseball is good, baseball, right,
yeah absolutely, so, yeah he has he is one of
the three that was also. Released so those are kind
of the, uh the moves that we know as of
now for The Pittsburgh.

Speaker 3 (25:10):
Steelers, okay, okay as.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
We're kind, of you know again waiting for any potential
other moving and. Shaking it has been a busy day
across THE NFL o, time and that kind of started
a couple of days, ago but it's been rolling along.
Here Adam schefter tweeted out a few minutes, ago third
most trades of any trade deadline IN nfl history going
back to nineteen. Ninety no my theory on.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
THAT i just think GM's are way more apt to
do it now than they did back in the.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Day The madden, generation.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
Right, yeah fantasy and just having The internet and younger
and the world, smaller and, yeah and it used to
be LIKE i was tied to. Youngster like it's just
so hard to acclimate to a new. Team we're seeing.
THAT i, Mean flacco got picked. UP i, MEAN i
know he's been around legal long, time but he got
picked up like two days before. That and rip The steelers,

(26:01):
park you know WHAT i. Mean like you gotta simplify
things and figure it, out you, know.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
You gotta do.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
It dougger thrown in the.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
Right it's a great, example great. Example and, hey good
thing The steelers got that one done a few days
early and Didn't, yeah didn't wait till the trades.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
Later could have gone differently.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
To get that one. Done, certainly let's take another break.
Here we'll continue to monitor any potential final moves and
discuss everything else that happened across THE. Nfl we got
a fantasy football, focus we got some power. Rankings we've
got plenty to get into on This. Tuesday we'll do
all that more as we roll Along West Yuler Matt,
Williamson it is The drive On Steelers Nation. Radio on

(26:37):
The Steelers Audio, Network.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
Your Tunes About drive on your twenty four to seven
home of The black And Goal Steelers Nation.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
RADIO a different kind Of tuesday here on The, Drive,
matt as it is trade deadline day and a lot
of moving and shaking to get. To but one thing

(27:10):
that we have to keep standard here on The drive
is Our tuesday power. Rankings All, RIGHT i, am.

Speaker 3 (27:17):
It's a tough week to do. IT i always. ENVY
i always think about through the author's. Lens, yeah there
was some shake, up and where do you put The lions?
Now you? KNOW i, mean like there's there's some teams
at the, top the bottom ones are.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Bottom is always kind of. Whatever once you get to
like the top, twenty it starts to become pretty.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
Interesting so in this conversation on another podcast, today it's
like there's more buyers than, usual you, know like it's.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
Absolutely it's probably more sellers, too but more. Buyers.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
YEAH i, mean if Like dallas sees himself as a,
BUYER i, mean they're pretty far from being a good.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Team it's It's. Matt it's one thing that THE NFL
i think looked at leagues like THE nba and THE,
nhl and there's not much of THE nfl has to
learn from those.

Speaker 3 (28:01):
Leagues, no, right they got it pretty well figured.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
Out one thing that they figured out from those two
leagues is keeping more teams in the playoff hunt is
good for.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
Business good for business and eyeballs on this.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
Word as much as we sometimes rail like in THE
nba and THE, nhl half the teams make the, Playoffs
like is that really you, know do you need sixteen
of the thirty two teams in your league to make the.
Postseason it might be a little, much but what it
does is it keeps all those teams. Sevant it keeps everyone,
Relevant it keeps almost it keeps eighty percent of the league,

(28:33):
relevant eighty five percent of the league relevant down the. Stretch,
yeah which sells more, tickets which gets more eyeballs on the,
games which makes more money for, everybody which raises the bottom,
line which increases the salary, cap which all those. Things
the extra wild, cards.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
Well there's also all that. TOO i mean playoff money
is there's more playoff, games which they're always.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
In you add an extra regular season, game you add
an extra wildcard. SPOT i think that's one of the
things that THE nfl was, Like, hey these these middle
of the road teams in THE nba and THE, nhl
they're still selling tickets at the end of the season
because they got a chance to go to the. Playoffs
people still. Care they're still putting butts in. Seats they're
still fifty dollars parking and twelve dollars. Beers, yeah and

(29:12):
now that has really permegated THE nfl where you, know,
again of the thirty two, teams probably twenty of them
are in it Until.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
Christmas, yeah. EXACTLY i Mean dallas to me's a perfect, example, Right.
Dallas it's so great last night and their defense is,
terrible but they're a. Buyer you, know they're in. It
i'm lasting along that point. Too it's, like say it's
your star point guard or goalie or. Whatever but you
lose a, star but they're only out a month or.
So you, know it's, like well we can see you.

(29:41):
KNOW i keep thinking about The ravens And. Bengals you,
know you Lose, borough you Lost lamar and. Others it's, like,
well if in that playoff, Format i'm much more of
a buyer than a. Seller IF i were The ravens Or,
bengals half the league, Goes it's.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
A good business, model it really.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Is it.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
Drives revenue for teams that would typically have fan bases
that are checked. Out you, know down the stretch of
the regular, season.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
You always you have to die. Hards but the people
that could take it or leave, it take.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
It, hey we're playing for a playoff. Spot i'll go
to the game on.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
Something, yeah, right, Right i'll at least tune in exactly.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
RIGHT i watch in THE tv ratings and all. That
Tennessee titans check in at number thirty, Two, MATT i
don't think there's a ton of surprise.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
There, no they're really.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
HORRIBLE i mean they had everything go right against The
chargers and still lost in some.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
Ways, yes they had two, touchdowns not from the offense.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Offense right off the, BAT i mean so least, yep and.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
Then the offense never produced anything else and they got
what two field goals the rest of the.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
Game, so, yeah thirty one The New Orleans saints.

Speaker 3 (30:43):
Fair, Enough but after, TODAY i think you'd have to
put The jets below.

Speaker 2 (30:46):
THEM i do, Too and that's one of the editor's
notes on, this that like these power, rankings these are THE.
Nfl we always go TO nfl dot com for these power,
Rankings and that's one of the editor's notes on here
is like this was Released tuesday before the trade.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Deadlines he probably turned it In monday.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
Night keep. That keep that in. Mind, yeah but The
jets are number, thirty so they can't be much. Higher
they stink To, okay are you ready for? This who
wins more games the rest of the season The New
Orleans saints or The jets And titans? Combined is that
a good?

Speaker 3 (31:20):
Question?

Speaker 2 (31:20):
Saints is that a Good? Vegas is that a good good?

Speaker 3 (31:24):
LINE i, mean how much of the three of? Them
so my way my brain works is like how many
wins did the three of them get? Combined five or?

Speaker 2 (31:32):
Six three or? Four three or? Four, yeah and two
of those three of those are The.

Speaker 3 (31:37):
Saints you're probably in good, shape, right you probably win the.
Bet THEN i would say. Five.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
Max, OKAY i need IT tv help me with, this
because you're you're A tony reality. Statistician we need to
track the rest of the. Year who wins more games
The saints or The jets and The titans. Combined that's
something we got to keep an eye. On.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
Man but even like the end of the rest of
THE Afc South they're a big dog inst you could
used to be, like, well at least Had.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
Carolina at least they Had Carolina atlanta rush, them, Right,
YEAH i Think atlanta Still, yeah twenty. Nine The Miami. Dolphins,
hey they had a Nice week eight In, atlanta but
they've shipped Out Jalen.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
Phillips, yeah you know there knows better than those other, ones.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
THOUGH i agree they're a clear cut favorite against any
of those.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
Teams, Right, LIKE i might Have miami over Like, cleveland
and you know there's a couple other you, know low.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Teams, well it's funny you say that because The browns
check in at number twenty.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
Eight, OKAY i would Have miami ahead of.

Speaker 2 (32:30):
Them still off the bye, Week how long untill we
see shoot Or.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
Sanders, OH i wonder if that's gonna be a story like.
TOMORROW i think it should.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
BE i think.

Speaker 3 (32:38):
SO i, mean you've got to know what you. GOT
i never wanted To steelers a week After, sanders BUT
i recognize his. TALENT i could see him being a.
Starter i'm not projecting him as a, starter BUT i
could see him being one of the thirty two starters
in the. LEAGUE i know That gabriel isn't now AND
i knew and when he gat drafted, them but you, know.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
Yes and even if shudor you evaluate him and you, think,
okay he's not our guy the, future maybe you think
he can be our number two of the, future.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
Right or maybe bring something back to The.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
Jets well, too you, know he puts enough on tape
that there's some interest in him around the. League and
Then cleveland ends up having two high draft picks in
the first, round or their draft pick in the in
The jags draft, pick and they use one of those
to take a quarterback or. SOMETHING i certainly think there's
there's possibility.

Speaker 3 (33:29):
THERE i was just looking this up to make SURE
i didn't screw it. Up but this is noteworthy and
it's bad news whenever we do our around the. Campus you.
Know situation too is, now after this, deadline there's four
teams with multiple first round. Picks there's The jets who have.
Quarterback jets quarterback and they have their pick which is
going to be, really really. High and The, Colts, okay The,

(33:52):
browns we already, knew they have their pick which is
going to be really, high not really really high, probably
and The, jags The, rams they Have theirs In atlanta
also need a. Quarterback even if they pick thirty, two
they probably need a. Quarterback and Now, dallas WHICH i
don't think we'll need a, quarterback but they Have dallas
And Green bays.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
Too, yeah that's something we're gonna spend a lot of
time on as soon as the season. Ends, yeah and
maybe we'll even get to a little bit on our
around campus conversation tomorrow to tease that a little bit with,
You matt.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
Too Actually dallas doesn't now BECAUSE i tweeted that before
The Quinn williams trade they traded their, pick not The, packers,
which by the, way is nice work by The. Jets
nice work by The. Jets that's the WAY i understand it.
Happened but we'll get into trades, later but nice work
by The. Jets i'd much Rather cowboys.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
Pick nice work by The. Jets we'll talk about this
a little bit, tomorrow you know, What, Matta it was.
FUNNY i. KNOW i check My twitter every day like
you as well. Too i'm not much of a other
social media apps. Guy LIKE i have A, FACEBOOK i
have An. Instagram, YEAH i check them once or twice
a week type. Thing nothing Crazy.

Speaker 3 (34:59):
I'm not even On.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
INSTAGRA i went on My instagram AND i looked at my, messages,
which LIKE i never, DO i, HAD i kid, you
not a dozen people on, there maybe more that had
messaged me about the around campus. Stuff can you talk
about this? Quarterback can you talk about how many teams
are going to draft? Quarterbacks that's, Cool thank you to
everybody out there for paying. Attention and yet, tomorrow tomorrow

(35:22):
will be a big around campus segment because we're starting
to get a lot of clarity on these quarterbacks And
i'm starting to think a few more of them than
we thought are going to be back on campus next.
Year and maybe it won't be six first round, quarterbacks
it'll be three or.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
Four and we did this EXERCISE i think like two weeks.
Ago remember you spit out every team AND i, said
need a quarterback or? Not we might need to do
it in like two weeks, again totally post trade. Deadline
AND i think that number is only.

Speaker 2 (35:51):
GROWING i think that number is. Growing and AGAIN i
think the nerds.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
Zone might be a yes. NOW i think the NUMBER
ami might be a yes, now not. Maybe's you, KNOW i.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
Think the number of first round quarterbacks. Too while the.
Number while the need is going, up the supply might
be going, down.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
Not favoring The steelers to land their.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
Guy another team that can need a first round quarterback
is The Las Vegas. Raiders they check in at twenty.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
Seven i'm not convinced they're good all of a, sudden
but at least this.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
Was a second bye. Week, Yeah Gino smith played his
best game of the. Season they had a chance for
a two point conversion in overtime to win. IT i
like the aggressiveness to go for it brought the. Hours
looks as healthy as he's. Been it's amazing to me
how important he. Is, incredible, incredible and what a good
football player he might. Be if we were making a,
list you take the quarterbacks out of the. Equation obviously

(36:36):
most valuable players to their team in the he's going
to be in the top. Ten twenty six The New York. Giants,
okay if The raiders and The giants played this, weekend
who you?

Speaker 3 (36:49):
Taking i'd probably take The. RAIDER i THINK i would.
TOO i THINK i take The dolphins over The giants.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
Too twenty five The Cincinnati.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
Bengals, yes it's the Watching dallas last. Night it's like
this is a really bad. Defense but The bengals is.
Worse they're the worst. Two and at Least, cowboys.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
At least at Least cowboys are getting some reinforcement on some.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
Reinforcements AND i found it funny The cowboys are, like
but the other, defense it's only the only, defense is
worse than. Us can we get your middle? Linebacker?

Speaker 2 (37:16):
Please it's LIKE i need a new. Car let's go
to the dump to find. One let's Get let's gets
where they where do they have the worst cars?

Speaker 3 (37:25):
Available that's and that's what you're, driving and you go
get the one that's on, fire you, know.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
Twenty four speaking of on fire in a bad, way
not like he's on FIRE nba jam in a good,
way like dumpster. Fire The washington, commanders it's going. Downhill
it's going downhill real.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
Quick So i'm proud of myself THAT i recognized you did.
That they're not you. Can BUT i feel bad for them,
too because it's an avalanche of terrible things, lately and
it's just injury upon the THINGS i counted on to
be good are not now.

Speaker 2 (37:58):
EITHER i do give them a little grain of salt in.
That Jaden daniels is dealt with a ton of injuries this. Year,
yeah they've Had they've had key injuries all over that.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
Offense, YEAH i thought the offense would BE i thought
they'd be similar to Like dallas Or cincinnati with great.
Offense daniels taking a huge.

Speaker 2 (38:14):
STEP i don't think you AND i thought we thought,
that like they would be the eighth or ninth seed
in THE, nfc one of their.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
Nine now it's. OVERALL i didn't think it'd be over by.

Speaker 2 (38:25):
IT i Didn't. NOVEMBER i didn't think that the first
week In november their season would be.

Speaker 3 (38:28):
Done and it.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
Is it absolutely is twenty three The Dallas. Cowboys they must.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
Not think it, is AND i guess it's not one hundred.
Done Quentin williams Is, also they're not going to win that,
division and, no they're not going to playoffs. Either but
at Least Quentin williams is not A they're not, rentals you,
know no. Doubt, OKAY i mean you had a surplus of,
picks so they need A Deed. Lineman he's good. Player.
Boy we'll talk about.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
Trace, later but still right in the problem of His.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
Yeah, yeah, Yeah SO i mean that helps more than
just this.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
Year two The Arizona.

Speaker 3 (39:01):
Cardinals coincidentally they've played each.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
Other but, YEAH i, MEAN i, guess so they have
to be ranked. Higher but they're better Than.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
DALLAS i.

Speaker 2 (39:09):
Guess they had lost five straight they finally get back
in the. Wind call.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
Them the coach Said kyler's taking over when he's, healthy
which to me is just ownership, saying, hey, Coach kyler
is taking over when he's, healthy BECAUSE i just wrote
him one hundred million dollar check or. Whatever but they're
way better with percent, clearly. CLEARLY i mean you Think
marvin and McBride Won kyler compared To Percilla simon, close
not even.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
Close twenty one third straight loss after showing some. Life
it's The Atlanta.

Speaker 3 (39:37):
Falcons, YEAH i don't think you can be happy with
where they're. At pennix to me is hard to, trust
but You're they're not like in the quarterback, market don't
get me. WRONG i, mean it's another year of, him but,
man the defense is starting to show some, things isn't Really.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
Drake london And Bijon robinson are, outstanding, phenomenal but it
hasn't meant much to.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
Him, yeah and this past week they actually Took beijon.
Away it wasn't. Enough you, know they're always kind.

Speaker 2 (40:05):
Of this organization into the top Twenty matt WHERE i
think it starts to get, interesting BECAUSE i think at
this point in you can legitimately say all these teams
are still in. It, yeah maybe The Houston, texans but
we'll get to them in a.

Speaker 3 (40:18):
Minute all the teams we mentioned are NOT i think.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
SO i know The cowboys think they, are and they're
operating like they, are but at three five and one
and they're gonna need a wild Card berth, RIGHT i
don't see.

Speaker 3 (40:28):
IT i, mean trust, Me i've done this long enough
that you'd never write and you don't chisel this stuff in.
Stone no doubt some of these teams could win six
games in the second half of the. Season, Atlanta, Dallas, Well.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
Dallas wins six of their next. Seven all of a,
sudden they're, right they're in.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
It but you, know the wise man's going to, SAY
i Think atlanta And dallas are out of.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
It In, washington number twenty back to five hundred and
impressive win In detroit as nine and a half point.
Underdogs it's The Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (40:53):
Vikings they dominated both lines of.

Speaker 2 (40:56):
Scrimmage they really Did, yeah they looked more like The
vikings team than we've gotten a custom.

Speaker 3 (41:01):
To it looked like the nest that we talked. About
and McCarthy wasn't, great but you did notice him being
an athlete out there and being able to play make
a little. Bit they're they're intriguing to, me and.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
It's good timing For minnesota to be feeling a renewed
lease on life here with, them with them welcoming The
Baltimore ravens to town this.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
Weekend, Yeah ravens could lose that. Game it's a terrible
place to.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
Play it's a tough place to, play And ravens could
certainly lose that. Game and if they do and The steelers,
win you get back to a three you, know you
get back to a three game lead To. North that'd
be a really, good.

Speaker 3 (41:37):
Super Comfortable BUT i think we're getting ahead of.

Speaker 2 (41:39):
Ourselves we, Are, yeah we are plenty to get two
on that later in the, week number nineteen five and.
Four who saw this? Coming The Carolina.

Speaker 3 (41:47):
PANTHERS i give him, CREDIT i do, too, RIGHT i
mean he must be a good. COACH i mean they
don't have a lot of talent and their manufacturing wins
and they're tough and physical and they run the football.
Good you, know.

Speaker 2 (42:02):
Still still a big toss up at quarterback for.

Speaker 3 (42:04):
Them but they could be in the quarterback market now.

Speaker 2 (42:07):
Absolutely what if.

Speaker 3 (42:08):
They went and got Like Tyler kyler Or tour or
something like, that be better than what they.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
Had, YEAH i see IF i were them And i'm
gonna do something like, THAT i would want like A Dak.
Prescott oh now you're.

Speaker 3 (42:18):
Talking, yeah they'd be a good team with, him, right.

Speaker 2 (42:20):
The playoff team they might win. That to, visit they
can't run for their. Money number eighteen three and five
really dug themselves a, hole but the talent is obviously still.
There The Houston, Texans, yeah that was a tough one losing.
There they got the, lead they lose C. J, stroud
The goos come back and win.

Speaker 3 (42:39):
IT i just WHEN i thought their offense was getting
a little, better it. Didn't but it was against a
really good. Defense their defense is top three though.

Speaker 2 (42:48):
Their defense might be the best in The, yeah, YEAH
i think They, yeah they still lead the league in
points per. Game i'm pretty sure on.

Speaker 3 (42:54):
DEFENSE i wouldn't be. Shocked, ye but at.

Speaker 2 (42:56):
Three and, five with what we've, talked about what looks
like you're gonna have multiple teams out of The. West,
YEAH i mean you're gonna have multiple teams out of
The north and The patriots And.

Speaker 3 (43:06):
Bills so let me ask you a, question LIKE i
would have The jags ahead of a.

Speaker 2 (43:10):
Party of The east in The patriots And, bills not The.

Speaker 3 (43:12):
NORTH i would have The jags ahead Of, Houston, yes
but if they played In wichita right, now who's Flavored.

Speaker 2 (43:19):
Houston by a point and a?

Speaker 3 (43:20):
HALF i kind of.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
Thin so as long AS. C. J stroud's back, right,
right right right. Seventeen The Chicago, Bears, HEY i tell you,
what they certainly do five and. Three they've won five
of their last.

Speaker 3 (43:33):
Six their defense pretty terrible.

Speaker 2 (43:35):
Too their defense is not. Great but, MAN i tell you,
What like they've got the good running back. Tandem Caleb
williams is looking, Better Kristin loveland has been a big,
boot big boost for. Them and at five and, three
they are they're.

Speaker 3 (43:50):
In, It they're highly. Relevant so this is already a
successful season for. Them they lose, out it's a successful
season for.

Speaker 2 (43:56):
THEM i don't know IF i agree with, that to
like that would be pretty. Bad they go five and
twelve's been pretty. Bad, right so, far so good to
say the, least as long as they if they are
playing meaningful. GAMES A christmas successful season.

Speaker 3 (44:13):
For, yeah And caleb is the.

Speaker 2 (44:14):
Guy Sixteen Baltimore ravens and know.

Speaker 3 (44:18):
By the way the head coach was like playing with his,
food by the, WAY i mean he was like a
cat playing with the miles three different people through a
pass of that. Game that's, why you, know like they're
just doing since he's a going to stop any let's
try this crazy, stuff you.

Speaker 2 (44:30):
Know, Right, hey, coaches you've got a gadget play you
want to try?

Speaker 1 (44:33):
Out?

Speaker 2 (44:33):
Right does the team sixteen after two victories and five
days The Baltimore, RAVENS.

Speaker 3 (44:42):
I haven't had everyone. Listed, yeah, Yeah i'm still not sold.
To defense is fixed and the old lines, fixed but
goes along.

Speaker 2 (44:53):
WAY i might have more faith in The vikings at this.
Point it's.

Speaker 3 (44:57):
Close bikes are a little low on this list for
MY i think so.

Speaker 2 (45:00):
Too, YEAH i think so.

Speaker 3 (45:01):
Too AND i don't think The vikes all of a,
SUDDEN i have a, quarterback but they're healthier and their
own lines not a, disaster.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
Right fifteen The Jacksonville jaguars getting that overtime win In.
Vegas moving to five and, three they think they're in.

Speaker 3 (45:18):
IT i mean they're you, know The myers trade and
that kind of. Stuff that's. FINE i mean, YEAH i
think they're like the most mediocre team. Going they're the most.

Speaker 2 (45:29):
EIGHT i know it's impossible to go, eight.

Speaker 3 (45:31):
Yeah but they feel like type.

Speaker 2 (45:33):
Team number fourteen The steelers upcoming, opponent the L. A.

Speaker 3 (45:38):
CHARGERS i think The steers are getting in a good
time with their tackle. SITUATION i think they might be
trending the wrong way all of a sudden after starting
to trend.

Speaker 2 (45:46):
Back out and they're still banged up at running back
and they're banged up on that offensive.

Speaker 3 (45:51):
Line.

Speaker 2 (45:51):
Yeah, YEAH i think there's a real opportunity there for The,
steelers who check in at number thirteen on this.

Speaker 3 (45:57):
List if The steers have The, chargers And i'd have
have had for.

Speaker 2 (46:00):
Sure, YES i completely agree with you on. That let's see,
here number, twelve The San francisco forty Nine ers six
and three. Somehow, yeah it's a good.

Speaker 3 (46:13):
RECORD i, Mean steelers are niners.

Speaker 2 (46:17):
Somehow without Mikel, williams Without Fred, warner Without Nick.

Speaker 3 (46:20):
BOSA i mean they just lost Mikel williams.

Speaker 2 (46:23):
And continue to win. Games but how much. Longer we've
been saying that for a couple of weeks, now but
how much.

Speaker 3 (46:29):
LONGER i don't know they're gonna be in the playoff.
HUNT i bet, Yes, YEAH i mean that's not asking
much at this. Point with the winning record they have
that division good. Though absolutely is Everyone division.

Speaker 2 (46:42):
One absolutely. Is that division is, loaded AND i think
that makes it even more impressive that they're kind of
hanging around there and continuing to play well above five
Hundred Football number, eleven the seven and Two New England.
PATRIOTS i think this is about right for. Them the record's,
great but they're probably a little ahead.

Speaker 3 (47:05):
Schedule. Yeah the defense is, legit passing game. Legit they
don't run the ball very.

Speaker 2 (47:11):
Well tell you, What drake May, man he uh didn't
play his best to be fair Against, atlanta but he
still finds a. Way he still finds a way to
get it.

Speaker 3 (47:21):
Done.

Speaker 2 (47:22):
Yeah number, ten after another head scratching loss down six,
spots it's The Green Bay.

Speaker 3 (47:27):
Packers you gotta be a little frustrated if you're The
packers and you just lost one of your best. Players in,
CRAFT i like love a, lot but there he made
a couple of decisions in that game that, were you,
know just pushing the envelope a little.

Speaker 2 (47:41):
Bit, yeah they are so back and. Forth they are
so hot and. Cold they either look too many bad.

Speaker 3 (47:47):
Games they either look like A.

Speaker 2 (47:48):
Super bowl contender or they look like a top ten
draft pick. Contender there's not much middle.

Speaker 3 (47:54):
GROUND i, mean even Their steeler, game if you just
look at through A packers, lens first half you weren't
real happy with how you, played and half you're.

Speaker 2 (48:00):
Great exactly, right exactly. Right number, nine seven and, two
rolling off a lot of wins here lately in, dramatic close.
Fashion it's The Denver.

Speaker 3 (48:10):
Broncos i'm still on solo on the offense and passing
attack and, knicks but that's where they. BELONG i, mean
they're easily a top ten.

Speaker 2 (48:18):
TEAM i think so. Too, yeah down to number eight
off the bye, week just staying where they were at
six and. Two The Tampa Bay. Buccaneers, SURE i think
that's about right for them as.

Speaker 3 (48:28):
Well, YEAH i think the bye comes a good time.
Too they had a lot of nicks and bruises and
stuff that could heal a little. Bit it's been a
rough injury stuff for the first half of the.

Speaker 2 (48:39):
Year, yes, yes completely. Agree, uh and it's seven. DOWN
i mean they were number one last week they dropped
to number seven after losing it home to The. Vikings
it's The Detroit.

Speaker 3 (48:50):
LIONS i wouldn't dig them too, bad but golf was under.
Pressure didn't handle it. Great they didn't run the ball very.
Well they lost at the line of. Scrimmage but really
good teams have. Daysier just not your best. Too, yes,
yes and it was not a garbage opponent.

Speaker 2 (49:06):
And kind of sticking with. That at number, six they
fall a few, spots but nothing. Crazy it's The Kansas City.

Speaker 3 (49:11):
Chiefs, yeah The bills were better than The chiefs that,
day AND i would have The bills ahead of them
in the power ranks right, now but a week from,
NOW i might change my.

Speaker 2 (49:21):
Mind you, know number five off their bye week as,
well staying pat at six and, two and they added
a lot here in the last forty eight hours or.
So it's The Philadelphia.

Speaker 3 (49:30):
Eagles M, yeah they should be right near the.

Speaker 2 (49:34):
Top they.

Speaker 3 (49:34):
SHOULD i see how the defensive additions fit in and
help and all, that BUT i bet they get something
out of.

Speaker 2 (49:40):
Them back to life, here and looking like themselves. Again
up five, spots it's the six and Two Buffalo bills
with a win over The Kansas City.

Speaker 3 (49:47):
Chiefs, yeah they've come off the buy in and been on.

Speaker 2 (49:50):
Fire THEY'VE i tell you, what, though they've lost some
key players as well. Too they, have, they've they've they've
dealt with some significant injuries and not getting crazy at
the trade headline or. Anything they're an interesting one to
watch the rest of the. Way down one spot after
falling to Your Pittsburgh, steelers The Indianapolis colts at number
three with their seven and two, Record is.

Speaker 3 (50:11):
That right for? YOU i wouldn't crush them from that.

Speaker 2 (50:14):
LOSS i wouldn't crush him for that.

Speaker 3 (50:16):
Loss BUT i bet they're a dog against The bills right.

Speaker 2 (50:19):
NOW i bet you they're a dog against The, bills
a dog against The. EAGLES i might have had him
a couple spots, lower but, right not. Far nothing, crazy
but just the LOWEST i. Think so number. TWO i like.
This up five. Spots it's The La Rams. Matt they're
checking a lot of boxes right. Now what's not the?
LIKE i? Mean what's not the?

Speaker 3 (50:40):
LIKE i? MEAN i remember we're talking About stafford's back for,
week weeks and weeks and weeks this, Summer no one's
brought up at. All Now HE'S mvp situation defense is really. Good,
no they should definitely be in.

Speaker 2 (50:51):
The top and number, one six and two up five
spots after a beat down in The nation's capital of The.
Commanders it's The Seattle.

Speaker 3 (51:00):
Seahawks, Wow i'm surprised we're, there BUT i don't have
a problem with.

Speaker 2 (51:05):
IT i don't. Either, again DO i think they're the
best team in THE. Nfl, No but are they playing
like it as we sit here? Today? Maybe.

Speaker 3 (51:12):
Yeah you Throw shaheed in the mix now. TOO i,
mean what a compliment he is To smith And. JIGBA
i really Think darnold And, stafford the last two teams
we talked, about are right. Today the first two picks FOR.
Mvp mahome's case went a little, backwards losing The, yes you, know,
YES i don't Think baker's quite there. Anymore, NO i

(51:32):
mean you can't give it To dak with the, team.

Speaker 2 (51:35):
With the team being as bad as they.

Speaker 3 (51:36):
ARE i, Mean allen's, looming but, yeah they haven't asked
as much out of.

Speaker 2 (51:39):
HIM i think you're spot.

Speaker 3 (51:41):
On, YEAH i mean those two are having great.

Speaker 2 (51:43):
YEARS i don't think a lot of us saw that. Coming, No,
no they are a legit contender for. Sure oh, Yeah,
matt there's our power. Rankings the pencils are down in
terms of THE nfl trade, deadline so we will sink
our teeth into that when we return on the other.
