Speaker 1 (00:03):
Your tunes about drive on your twenty four to seven
home of the Black and Goal Steelers Nation Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good evening, Steeler Nation. How we doing well? That's good
us too. It is our number two of the Drive
here on Steelers Nation Radio on the Steelers Audio Network,
West Shooler and Matt Williamson with you here as we
get into a little fantasy football focus to kick off
our number two on a Tuesday, Matt, I figured we
(00:42):
would talk top waiver wire options today.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Good Tuesday thing.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Yeah, it's a good Tuesday thing, I think, especially at
this point, you're starting to injuries are piling up a
lot of teams week for rolling in. So let's get into,
uh into some of these if that's all right with you.
I tell you what, I'm up some names on this
list because I've had Omari and Hampton get hurt for me,
Trey Benson get hurt for me. I've had some some
(01:06):
running back attrition here.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
So let's all excited about Benson for like a half
for yeah, Connor gets hurt and like like, oh no.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Same here. I thought that that was going to be
a steal for me, and it ended up kind of.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
He's not gonna be out super long, but yes.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
But still not what you want in the kind of
As we get towards the middle of the season here
and really rolling into this thing, let's start with Mason Taylor.
I think decidedly the Jets number two wide receiver. Matt
He's only owned in thirteen percent of Yahoo Fantasy leagues
right now. How do you feel about Mason Taylor is
(01:44):
an option?
Speaker 3 (01:45):
I'm a big fan, so like in my main league,
I used a really high pick on Kittle, which was
brutal because I didn't even draft a second tight end.
I'm like, I'm never going to start the second guy.
Sure of all the guys that couldn't get hurt, he's
the one that got hurt that was really hard to overcome.
So I've been like piecing tight end together ever since
with like Chiga wonk Wo and dudes like that. And
(02:07):
I feel smart because a week ago I picked up
Mason Taylor with the thoughts of they could be in
a high scoring game. He's really emerging as the Jets
number two. He doesn't have to be in a great offense,
but I love them coming out of school. I think
he's a borderline tight end one, you know, and you
could do a lot worse. You know, Bowers is not
himself right now. There's a lot of tight end attrition
(02:28):
going on, so he should probably be in every league
after last week. I mean, if they're in ball like
nine or ten times.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
That they did, and he's just it's like you said,
I mean almost by process of elimination he is. He's
going to start getting like tight end one type targets,
I would think, and still pretty widely available that yeah, right,
right are at this standpoint. I think that's a real
name for people to write down and highlight and take
the peak if you need some tight end help.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
And I like him a lot, and they need to start.
I mean, they don't have any wins. They got to
start a youth movement here and realize that they're playing
for tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
You know, how about Kenneth Gainwell? How we feeling about
Kenneth Gainwell to this point only owned thirty six percent
of Yahoo Fantasy leagues.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
And I'm sure they went up a bunch after a
week ago.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
A week ago. Yeah, absolutely, we know Jalen Warren is
head and back, but how we feeling about Kenneth Gainwell
is a fantasy option?
Speaker 3 (03:21):
I'm a fan. Don't get me wrong, but I think
he's a little bit of fool's gold. If you're not
in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
That might be his top performance of the season.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Yeah, saw Yeah, Like if this was a Seattle show,
people might be like, oh, he might be the number
one there. I'm like, no, he's not gonna be number one,
you know. I mean he's probably a handcuff. So however,
you value a handcuff great, and he'll get I don't
even think he's flexworthy, you know. The day with Warren's
back for this week, Like, I don't think he really
(03:49):
start him in any capacity because if I bet he
touches the ball five times in.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
This game, yeah, it's not going to be the twenty
five touches that he had in Dublin. No, No, certainly,
as long as Jalen Warren is healthy and ready to go.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
And if you're a warrant owner and you believe in handcuffs,
well grab Gamewell.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
How are we feeling about Michael Carter? He's been an
interesting name for you because we know Connor's out, Benson's out.
Cardo did not cover himself in glory and seems to
be it seems to be in the doghouse already in Arizona.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Gotta be, is it?
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Michael Carter? Just by default at this point.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
I mean, this is kind of like the same conversation
with like the Chargers is it almost doesn't matter, especially
this time of year, at the running back position, if
the player is even good, if you know that they're
going to be the workhorse because of attrition, you have
to put in a waiver claims numbers game. Yeah, and
unless you're loaded at running back, which f you are,
(04:43):
I look at running back very much as a week
to week proposition, you know. Just give me someone to
get me through these two weeks. Fine, And even if
I don't have Benson, if you rent Carter for two
weeks and use them as a flex or a number two,
he's at least gonna touch the ball a lot.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Not kill you, yeh know, hopefully not give you goose
eggs one or two. You can maybe at least get
you something, especially.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
If you need to find a starter of some sort.
I mean, I wouldn't pick him up, use a ton
of fab or whatever to put him at the bottom
of your bench for two weeks, right, unless you're going
to work a trade or you know you're blocking somebody.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
But certainly a viable option if you need help. Only
owned in thirty four percent of y'all.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Who I guess how I should open it was? He's
clearly the one now in Arizona. That's all you need
and whatever value that.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
You get a running back. Yeah, clearly the one, the
one on the on the waiver wire.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Like in the Charger situation, it's not as clear it's
either going to be Haskins or Vidal. Yes, and I
bet I'm betting on Vydal. I just think he's a
more well rounded player. But who knows. And that's a
team too, like could they trade for someone to do
this any minute? Possible? Maybe? You know, both these teams
could and you can always find a running back somewhere,
(05:54):
so be aware if they add anybody.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
How we feel about theo Johnson? Uh, Since Molite Neighbors
went down, he is tied for the Giants target share
team leading twenty one point six percent. Some life in
that offense now with Jackson Dart, and he is only
owned an eleven percent of Yahoo Fantasy leagues right now.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
Similar conversation with Mason Taylor. You know the New York
Young tight end that I like the player a lot.
I've been stashing him in these deep dynasty leagues I'm
in that have like twenty five man rosters, and because
he's talented, I mean, the Penn State guy, people might remember.
He's a bigger tight end. He's like two sixty two
sixty five, and he's friendly to dart. They don't have
(06:36):
a lot of target competition. They're probably gonna be losing
a lot. Their schedule gets really horrible from now on.
So he should be in every league too. I prefer
Taylor if I was picking up one of the two.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Okay, yeah, Christian Kirk owned in thirty one percent of
the league's is it is he the number two option
for CJ. Stroud right now? Still a little too early.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Yeah. Both Iowa State kids though, did stuff, but they
also score a million points against the Ravens. You know,
so I guess Kirk should be in leagues, you know.
I mean, he's got a track record. He's a good
football player, but I'm not I'm not throwing in my
starting lineup or anything like that. I mean, I don't
think he can really influence your team all that much.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
You mentioned Assan Haskins He is right now owned by
just a little over one percent of y'all that fantasy league,
and that will change, should change at least certainly. He
played for Jim Harbaugh back at Michigan Michigan Wolverine. There
Najie Harris out, Omari and Hampton out. What I mean.
I don't think he's a guy that you're putting any
(07:38):
fab down to go out and get. But if you
if you need to break glass in case of emergency,
I think he's at least a viable option to add
to your bench.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Yeah, I prefer by now, but it's always hard. I mean,
this is just a generic fantasy lesson for everyone is
when the starter gets hurt, what happens from that point
on in that game doesn't always tell you what the
plans are, you know what I mean? Because some gimes
a running back's only active, like the Benny Snell is
the one I was talking about. He's only active because
(08:08):
he's great on teams, so he got to use.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Like kind of what we saw was Scotty Miller in Dublin.
Just because he got the ten snaps for Calvin Austin
doesn't mean it's going to be the same scenario. At
home against the Browns.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
On Sunday one thousand percent, especially when you're talking about
like third running backs that have to play special teams
that might only be have a helmet because they're good
on teams. So I think Haskins is more of a
special teamer than Vidal. So that's why I leaned towards
Vaidal being the better runner, and just on tape, I
think he is. But it's probably a yucky committee because
either one's really good and they have a high pass
(08:40):
percentage too, but they can't protect and they're line to
mess and you know you gotta be pretty desperate for
that crew. But I understand it.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
How about Ken Dre Miller, He's starting to get some
early spin over Alvin Kamara owned in just thirty two
percent of Yahoo Fantasy leagues right now.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
I would not let him sit out. I'm not saying
he's gonna, like again, change bounce power, win your league.
But I could see Kamara being a trade candidate. I mean,
I coul see him end it up in Kansas City
or something like that. I mean, their season is close
to shot. Kamara is now just kind of a receiving back.
Miller's good. I mean, I think he's flashed quite a bit,
(09:19):
and I don't think their offense is terrible. I think
he's usable right away.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
A couple more that I want to run by you here, Matt.
How about Josh Downs from Indy. He's owned in just
under fifty percent of leagues, had eight targets for a
twenty five percent target share for the Colts offense last week.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
He makes me crazy, good way or bad way both,
Like I wish he was a Steeler, Yeah, because I
think he's one of the most underrated football players in
the league. And the Colts just don't quite agree with
me because he's never out there in two receiver sets
and that kills you for fantasy, I mean, is used to.
(10:00):
This past week was better than it's been, but they
were also winning by a million, and Donnie Mitchell was
in the doghouse, and they just have so many targets.
Warren's getting featured. Pittman never leaves field, nor should he.
He's really good.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Those guys are very good.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Yeah, Pearson Mitchell or the number two's running long routes
and Downs is just kind of the slot. But he's
capable of so much more. Like in all my dynasty
leagues and fantasy leagues. I own this guy everywhere because
when he's out there, he produces like crazy. And if
he was a Steeler, he'd go right past Austin to
be my number two and I'd play him every snap.
(10:33):
And he's really really good the game. But that's just
not how they use them, which is real frustrating.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
Certainly from a fantasy football standpoint, right right, But he does.
He's got the upside to really produce. Yes, and he's
not just a slot.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
He can line up outside, and they just don't use
him in two receiver sets.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Yep, they've got options. Maybe they went offense and maybe they.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Will, right, I mean this last week, and then.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
The type guy for you, if you're Indie, you're trying
to hold on to him because we want the depth
in the I.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Think they'd rather move like Pierce or Mitchell, who they're
down on for doing dumb stuff and they're kind of
those two are kind of redundant, and plus the Cults
are winning. I thought the Steelers might be a prior
receiver away from them.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Sure if they were one and four instead four and one.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
Now, I don't think that makes any sense.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
For that last one to run past you. Quarterback JJ
McCarthy owned in thirty two percent of leagues.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
I assume he'll be inserted right back.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
To start practicing you know here, and will presumably start
against the Eagles, if clear, if you're quarterback desperate, he's
owned in thirty two percent of Yahoo leagues right now. Yeah,
a lot of questions about him, but certainly a lot
of talented eligibles on that offense for him to throw to.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
That's the thing is, whoever the starter is.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
There, it's gonna get you some points.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
He's gonna throw to Jefferson and Hawkinson and Addison and
get schemed up. And McCarthy's a very underrated runner. I mean,
I think he can get you twenty to thirty rushing
yards a game. It looks so overwhelmed when early in
the season. Yeah, and probably as a short leash, which
doesn't matter. If you're picking him up off the waiver
wire and he gets benched on you, well you just
(12:09):
cut him. You'd have to go pretty deep down the
quarterback list though, for me to be starting McCarthy.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Oh absolutely.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
I mean it's probably these.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Two QB leagues or something up all over him.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
If he's out.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Yeah right, Yeah, but that's an interesting one to me
because again I'm not incredibly high on him. But in
that offense, they're gonna move the ball a little bit,
they're gonna score some points. Yeah, they're gonna throw to
Addison and Jefferson and Hawkinson.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Like you said, there's been a lot of instances where
a young quarterback, rice young, you know, like gets sat
down for whatever reason, injury or whatever, comes back. Okay,
now I get it, you know, I clear your head
a little bit, and it's good for you. I mean
I had him ranked reasonably high, like in preseason fantasy
he was like my quarterback eighteen.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
I mean, not like top twelve or anything. Sure, because
he moves and he's in a good system exactly right.
And yeah, that's a good point too. He can move,
he can screwed. He can give you some value that
with his legs, which is big for a fantasy football quarterback. Certainly,
there's our fantasy football focus for this Tuesday, and we
come back on the other side, we will dive into
weekly power rankings where the Steelers where or what's the
(13:20):
top of the league look like. Now that some of
these teams, the Eagles and the Bills have taken losses.
We'll get into all of that when we return. Wesheeler,
Matt Williamson, It's the Drive on Steelers Nation Radio on
a Steelers Audio network, your tunes.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
About Drive on your twenty four to seven home of
the Black and Goal, Steelers Nation Radio.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
It's a Tuesday on the Drive here. Namely, that means
some things. One is that it is time for our
weekly check in of the NFL Power Rankings via NFL
dot Com. And as always, if you're new to this,
stay true to this. We start at the back number
thirty two, work our way to the top and at
the back of the bus. Here at the back of
(14:13):
the list, Matthew. The loan NFL team still looking for
their first win. It is the New York Jets. Jets. Jets, Jets,
I get it.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
They're the only team that hasn't won fine and frankly,
they're extremely disappointing, especially the defense. I don't think fields
is the answer. And after Week one against the Steelers,
I kind of had high hopes that this would be
at least a successful year for them. All those things
are bad. I still think they're better than like the Titans,
and the Raiders. And the Raiders, I mean there's some
(14:44):
miserable teams, Like I think they beat the Bengals right
now straight up. I can maybe the Ravens too, I'm
not sure where. Yeah, yeah, I mean the Ravens are
gonna be a hardrun to rank with now they are
how healthy. But I mean, if it's the team we
saw last week, I think the Jets beat that team.
I mean Tennessee it was a distant last a week
ago and really got some gifts to get their first win.
(15:05):
I don't know if that gets you out of the
cellar for me.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
Good news for the Jets though. All you have to
do is go across the pond to London and play
the Broncos this weekend. Things get things getting easier, Yeah, certainly. Yeah,
that's rough, and I think.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
It's gonna be a long year.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
It's going to be a long year. If if we
were doing Jets Nation Radio, we would really be going
around campus and talking about those college quarterbacks big time.
That's something remind me when we get to the post
Bengals week, when we'll have that kind of longer week
there without a game to react to. Yeah, yeah, we'll
need to do some go around the league and who's
(15:40):
going to be hunting for quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
I actually did one of those yesterday, did you, And
it's the numbers keep growing and growing. It's bad news.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
I was gonna just off the top of my head,
it's more right now than I thought it would be
in July.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
Yeah, for sure, because I didn't.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Think anythink the Jets would be on that list.
Speaker 5 (15:55):
They are.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
I didn't think the Raiders would be on that list.
They are.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
Yeah, yeah, speak. It's a pretty long list right now.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
And speaking of the Raiders, there at number thirty one,
Genos Geno's struggling nine interceptions already, They're getting punts bad
to see. Their offensive line is horrendous, horrendous.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
Brock Bowers shouldn't be out there.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
He's banged up.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
May heard this past week too.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Everything that can go wrong for them has gone wrong.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
There, it has, it has. And the back sevens is
not talented. I mean, it's they're they're absolutely amongst the worst.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
They might be the team right now that if you
put all these kind of bottom five teams, bottom six
teams into a toilet bowl and they played, they played
for the worst team in the league. The Raiders might
be my pick to w to be the worst and
not win any of those games. It's just they are
struggling right now.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
It wouldn't be the Jets for me.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
I don't think it would be for me either. I
don't know if it would be the team that's ranked thirtieth,
the Miami Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
I think that's harsh.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
I think that's a little harsh. I know they're one
and four and things have been ugly, and they you know, I.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Mean, they played a very bad Panthers team even up. Yes,
but they move the football.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
That's the thing. Their offense can still move it a
little bit. It's not completely futrid on both sides of
the ball.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
They beat the Titans right now. I think they beat
the Bengals and Ravens right now, and I would have
them absolutely ahead of Raiders.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Yeah, absolutely ahead of the Raiders. Jets would be a
question mark. I guess we'll see that before too much longer.
But Miami checks in at number thirty and number twenty one.
This one's a little surprising to me. It's the Browns
at twenty nine, down four spots after that loss to
the Vikings.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
I understand, but they played them really tough.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
I think their defense is good enough that they're maybe
best in the league, that they should be at least
closer to the mid twenties. I'm not saying they should
be that much higher, but maybe closer to twenty five
than thirty.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
I mean, I said this yesterday. I still believe it.
The Flacco trade and picking up Gordon Johnson doesn't change
my mind that they should be second in this division. Yeah,
I mean, I think they're better than the Ravens and
Bengals right now, just because they're right. I'm not giving
Burrow or Lamar or any of those guys any credit.
They're not playing right now.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Anyone's going to struggle to score more than twenty one
points a game on those guys right now.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
So you lose that game, I mean, and it wouldn't
be an embarrassment. I mean, they're not bad bad.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
You know number twenty eight. Also at four and one,
it's the New York Giants.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Yeah, I mean, you'll just lost to the Saints.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Yeah, and you blew an eleven point lead in that
game too.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
It's about right. I would have Cleveland ahead of them,
out of Miami ahead of them, I think so. But
there's some things to get encouraged about. You really wish
you had neighbors growing up with the quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Certainly, you know, certainly, but some some positive signs for
Jackson Dart without a.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Yeah, yeah, I don't. I don't think that fan base
should be you know, discouraged.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
It could still you know, they could only end up
winning four or five games this season, but after you know,
a dozen more Jackson Dart starts, they could be feeling
much better going to.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
The next year. The problem for them, and you could
see is coming in the preseason. Their schedules awful, like terrible.
The only game that they might have been favored in
was this past week against New Orleans. Right, I think
they have like Philly like two the next three weeks,
and it's just bad.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
It's tough.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Everyone's worse than that.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
It's real tough. Twenty seven. I can't believe they're this high.
And I know it's only twenty seven, but the Cincinnati
Bengals are at twenty seven.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
We've talked them to death already this week. Yeah, I
think they stink.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
They would be thirty or thirty one or thirty two.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
For they lose to Miami right now, yes, I'm not sure.
They beat the.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Jets, Bengals, Raiders.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
Who you got Raiders one I put behind them.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
Maybe that's it, that's it. It's not great right now
in Cincinnati, that's for sure, up six spots, their highest
rank of the season after their first win of the
season in a crazy comeback in Arizona. It's the one
in four Tennessee Titans at twenty six.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Way too kind, way too kinda. The Cardinals.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Cardinals just wrapped that thing. They fumbled all over themselves,
threw up all over themselves.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
Yeah, and they don't win that game. And no, no,
that's way too kind for Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
You're ready for this one this weekend in Las Vegas,
Raiders host the Titans.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Raiders should hope to lose that just for the quarterback
draft implications, Yeah, I mean Tennessee's and take a quarterback,
but right.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
They're not, but that that one could go a long
way and determining who's going to have a top three
pick come April on the North Shore here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
But yeah, usually when you go to Vegas it's for
a show or for some fun. This is not the
show you want to catch.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
This weekend gets cheap for that one.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Number twenty five, up six spots after getting their first
win as well too. It's the New Orleans Saints.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Okay, I'm not sure I'm ready to put them over Miami,
you know, as a team or two. I probably would
still have above of them.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
But some some life there, and that offense has some pieces.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
Brattler's been good. I mean he's not been and I
don't I guess he's not been bad. They say he's
been goods a little strong, and the offense does some things,
you know. Beating the Giants doesn't shoot them up my board.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Though, No, no, but hey, they have not been terrible either.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
No, they've had two bad games, but other than that,
they've been competitive.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Twenty four The Carolina Panthers at two and three, after
getting victory over the Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
I guess you have to have them over Miami, but
I would have them that much more over Miami. But
that's more of a Miami thing than Carolina. I'm fine
with where they're slotted.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
I agree this one a little too high for me.
Cardinals at twenty three, after their third straight loss and
just a debacle at home. No other way to put.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
Terrible, mojo terrible. They seem like they're really going the
wrong way. I think this offseason is going to be like,
we have to have a Kyler conversation coaching staff, coaching staff.
You know, you guys took over a really bad situation,
but you're not any further much, right, right, Yeah, that's
about right.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Twenty two, Matt, the lowest I can ever remember them
in power rankings at least in the last decade, plus,
down six spots after are getting blown out at home
to the Texans the Baltimore Ravens. At twenty two, it's
hard to argue at this point.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
No, I mean, if anything, they should be lower for
how you're playing right now. If you just attach the
name and the colors and the coach and all that,
and just watch what they're putting on tape, it's as
bad as anyone.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
Yeah, certainly is. And giving up a ton of points.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
I think they're gonna get hammered by the Rams.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
And since nineteen ninety one in four teams have made
the playoffs just twelve times out of one hundred and
seventy four opportunities.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
And what I wonder what one and five teams are which.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
They certainly could be after visiting the Rams this weekend.
The Atlanta Falcons checking in at twenty one. They're at
two and.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
Two, coming off a byre coming off of a bye.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Listen, there's some reasons for optimism. There's still some questions.
I think this is about right for Atlantic Goats. Could
still certainly go either way for them this year.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
Yeah, there's not a team we mentioned I'd put over them. No,
So I'm fine with that.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
That's a good way to put it.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
Yeah, yeah, I mean they're that's the lowest they should be.
I mean, there's nobody we mentioned that I put.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Over at number twenty up two spots this week, clawing
back the five hundred two to two and one with
a I'll tell you what pretty good offense despite a
lot of missing pieces, led by Dak Prescott. It's the
Dallas Cowboys at twenty.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
I'm really impressed. Yeah, I mean I thought, you know,
if you told me they know cdee lamb know Michael Parsons.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
In a beat up offensive line, Yeah, and.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
I would think, boy, they're gonna be twenty six in
the power rank. They're not. I mean they run the
ball great, yes, and pickens and Ferguson's more than enough
for DAK at the moment, and they're gonna play shootouts
and be.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Competitive tomorrow for Best of the West. We're gonna do
MVP candidates. M I'm gonna have Dak pretty high on
that list at this piece.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
He's playing like it. I mean, you have to win games.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Got to win the game, but you gotta at least
stay above five hundred and in a playoff hunt.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
But there's not money players playing better right now.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
They're certainly not. No, I like it he is, he's been.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Very MVP candidates.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
Well get that, get that marinate for tomorrow nineteen. The
Chicago Bears coming off of BIY didn't do anything this
past week two and two, I think, feeling certainly better
than they were at the start of the season, and
some more consistency from Caleb Williams, which has gone along.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
That's the whole season's about, and that's going the right way,
so good. I mean, it's weird to talk about the
teams coming off of bye for power ranks this early
in the year. If you've been week nine by you
a little different. I mean, if I take twenty percent
out of your body of work, already. It's like, I
don't know where to rank them, you know.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Yeah, that's a good point. Up five spots climbing the boards.
Here the three and two New England Patriots check in
at eighteen.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Good. I was kind of thinking that the author might
put them too high, like oh.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
They've arrived, and put them in eleven or twelve, right, like, oh,
they're right.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
In the hunt. I don't see them in that way.
But positive momentum.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
You and I have said many times. It's something Arthur
Motes used to drill into my into my nogging in
into the show. Progression is not always linear, No, it
never is. And so the Patriots could go out and
get smacked around a couple times this season too.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
Oh yeah, but I expect them to.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
I expect them too as well.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
I think it's at least as long as you're taking
more steps forward than you are backwards, as long as
the arrow is still pointing up, and I think they're
in that position.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
I have no idea when they play the Bills next,
but I'm going to pick the Bills to win big. Yeah,
you bet that game now, whatever the spread is, I'll
take Buffalo minus.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
I like that one too, number seventeen, up four spots
after their second straight win, feeling good after kind of
being on that on that dead man's watch list. It's
the Houston Texans at seventeen. Monty Python knock dead.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Yeah, I'm starting to be a believer. I'm starting to
be a believer.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
The defense is really good.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
Defense are really good. Yeah. Part of it though, is
just how bad the Ravens are you know stock?
Speaker 2 (26:00):
I mean, they beat them down, but how much stock
can you put in?
Speaker 3 (26:03):
I mean, they're their momentum is beating that Ravens team
and the Titans. So let's see what you're real you're at.
But I do have faith in the organization, with.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
You, with you on that and that again, that division
I think is going to be It's fun all of
a sudden, a lot of a lot of fun. They
Houston hits there by now before they've got a tough stretch.
Come number sixteen, up one spot after taking down the
Browns there at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London. It's
the Minnesota Vikings at sixteen.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Okay, there are are lines of mess right now, and
I think you still have to have quarterback questions.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Oh absolutely, But the rest is good. You know, defense
is final, right, Defense is good. Playmakers are good. But
when you got o line and quarterback questions, I think
this is about the right spot. Yeah, middle of the package.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
But could you put them over Atlanta? Yes, I think so,
you know, but they're not far.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
No, oh no, not terribly far. Same conversation. But I
think this is about right for Minnesota, kind of dead
average in the league. Yeah, at fifteen, down one spot
off their bye week, it's your Pittsburgh Steelers. Okay, I
think this is about right.
Speaker 3 (27:13):
I don't have a big problem with it. There's an
a team I'm.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
Looking at, like the Chargers ahead of them. I think
i'd have them ahead of the Chargers right now.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
Yeah, I did the Chargers a couple spots lower than that.
But I've been asked on a lot of airwaves the
last twenty four hours. What AFC teams are better than
the Steelers.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Yeah. We spent some time time.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Yesterday and Jacksonville was hard to comment on before the game,
but I definitely have the Steelers had the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
Yeah, the Chargers at fourteen's an interesting one to me.
And they're down. They're down six spots, so that's a
pretty significant drop for them from eight to fourteen, but
two straight losses. The offensive line is knackered, their top
period running backs are out.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
Yeah. I mean, I just Erbert's getting beat up on,
but he's playing great.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
In kind of the true sense of power ranking scheme,
I get they dropped six spots. Yeah, but like I
think I might have them drop a little bit further.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Yeah, I'm not sure that they're favored against the Kings,
Vikings Atlanta that those type of teams. Yeah, they're pretty similar.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
If they're coming to Akrosser Stadium Sunday, I bet you
the Steelers are slight favorites. Yeah, not crazy, but two
and a half, three and a half points.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
In LA with a bunch of Steeler fans, I think
they would.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
As well too. Yeah, the two and a half points
out there in LA, something like that. Chargers checking it
at fourteen. I got a feeling they're gonna continue to
go in the wrong direction. Uh Number thirteen four and
one A gutsy Thursday Night win against the Rams. It's
the Niners. If with hard to argue, especially in the
face of the adversity and the injuries that they've they've
(28:44):
continued to win games.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
We were talking about on my other podcast, and they
have a win over Seattle, they have a win over
the Rams, like, they're in really good shape to get
to the postseason. They have a super easy schedule. Their
wins are the right kind of wins. I mean, I
think they love to Jacksonville, which doesn't hurt them hardly
at all. I mean an AFC loss so where they're
sitting is great. I don't know if they're good or not,
(29:07):
though I don't know, you know, I mean, at least
you got, like I can Kittle and Purdy on the horile.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
I say, there's some benefit of the doubt there for
a team that has been mostly good for the last
five six.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
No question. I know their head coach can get your wins.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
Yeah, absolutely, Number twelve two and three, tough loss Monday
night last night. It's the chief set number twelve.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
That's still the Chiefs over the Jags. I know. That's
not how power ranks work. I mean, if you want comments.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
At eleven, so there's one spot ahead of them.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
I mean, if you want your comments to blow up
on power ranks, put a team that just lost behind
ahead of the other one totally.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
But it's like the same thing with the ap pole.
You know what, right, Oh Miss beats LSU, but LSU
still ranked ahead of Old Miss.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
That's insane right now.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
If it's six weeks from now, it's a different story.
But in the wake of it happening. But Chiefs at twelve,
Jags at eleven, I don't have a problem.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
I'm not going to you too bad on that.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Denver checking in at number ten, up
two spots.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
You'd all three of them ahead of the Steelers though
in the AFC, Chiefs, Jags, Denver, Yes, I would too, Yes,
although I'd like the Steelers chances against the Jags.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Right now, I think I wouldn't hate the Steelers chances
against any of those teams.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
Yeah yeah, I don't think that they'd get blown out
by anything.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
But especially the Jags.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
Chiefs are still a weird one for me. I've told
you this and I'll continue to say it until the
body's cold. I'm not writing them off either. And they're
getting Checko back and she Rice back, and but they're
an interesting one. They are. They're losing those close games
so far this season that they would typically find ways
to win.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
But if of the Chiefs Broncos and Jags. If one
of them is a fugazi, it's the Jags. Yes, yeah,
we might look back in November and be like, oh,
they lost five in a row after like that could happen.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
No doubt, Whereas the Broncos and the Chiefs could rattle
off five straight now.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
I think they'll prizes all the way to the Yeah,
all the way.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Back into the top ten. Here Broncos at ten, like
I mentioned, back into the top ten? Is the Washington
Commanders up two spots?
Speaker 3 (31:08):
I'd have them five spots lower.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
I think so too. Yeah, I would have all those
teams we just talked about ahead of the Commanders.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
I know they just beat the Chargers. I'd probably have
them like one spot ahead of Chargers. Yes, but no way,
they had better than Denver the Chiefs to.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
Be commander Steelers this weekend. How would it play out?
Speaker 3 (31:24):
I'd pick the Steelers.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
I think I would too. Yeah, slightly, Yeah, but I
think I would.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
It's probably a you know, home teams favored by two
and a half or something like that.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
It would depend on where the game was, Yeah, play
a role in it. Number eight up two spots. Continuing
to impress, not going away the Indianapolis Colts.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
I'm fine with that. Their loss was even good. I
mean they've had you know, it's true. I mean they
really haven't done anything wrong.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Yeah, and you know what, the schedule kind of shakes
out nicely for them. They could easily be six and two,
seven and one when they head here to Pittsburgh in
Week nine, which could be a yeah, a big kind
of circle the calendar game that I don't think any
of us had circled went into this season.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
Yeah. I don't think they're a few Gays.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
I don't either. Yeah, I do not down three spots
after that tough loss to the Niners. It's the three
and two la Rams checking in at number seven.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
I just have such extreme faith in Stafford and McVeigh
I do too. Yeah, you give them pookah and I mean.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Great weapons, solid defensive front.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
I think this is about where they'll be for the
course of the season.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
I bet they're ten at the lowest if they have
a bad two week stretch, and could be as high
as five or four at some point. You know, they're
not going anywhere.
Speaker 5 (32:32):
Six and six.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Another one of those at six, pardon me, another one
of those tough to evaluate off the bye week teams.
The Packers stay and put at six at their two
to one and one record to.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
This point, last two games have them been great, but.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Bye week I think they'll get back to doing Packers
t things and Micaeh Parsons should be fully unleashed now they're.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
Playing the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
God speed to Browning or to flack at right, whichever
one it is.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
No, I think they'd blow them out.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
Number five, despite losing a close one at home to
the Bucks. It's the Seattle Seahawks stay and put at
number five.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
I definitely wouldn't ding them. They better than the Rams,
They better than the Packers. We could fight about that.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
I could fight about that. But Packers coming off a
bye week, Rams coming off a loss five might be
a little too rich for Seattle in my But I
definitely think they belong in the top ten.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
I'm not sure only four teams on the plant are
better than them, but they're really good.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
I think they definitely belong and I think.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
They're a playoff team and could see the Bucks again, you.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Know, certainly could. And speaking of the Bucks, they are
at number four, up three spots, fair four and one.
We're gonna talk about Baker Mayfield and that MVP conversation tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
I mean they just I mean a BUKO would be
offensive rookie year.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
Offensive Rookie of the Year. I mean, they have a
lot going for them despite overcoming some injuries.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
At the same time, say they've had some injuries and
Mike Evans should be back, I mean, like you throw
him in that mix.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Like Bucky Irving.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
Yeah, yeah, I forgot about him too. I mean they
worfs was out for a.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
While, was back, Yeah, but he's been out a whole while. Overcome,
no doubt, the Bucks are in a good spot and
look like one of the better teams in the NFC
for sure.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Number three down one spot after that loss at home
to Drake may and the Patriots. It's Buffalo checking in
at number three. I'm fine with that.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
I'm fine with that. They made more mistakes than they
usually do in that game, and they're not perfect.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
They got weaknesses, but they've also got all right.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
Right right that way in the hunt every step of
the way.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
Number two. Also dropping their first game of the season,
the Eagles fall to the Broncos. They fall down one
spot to number two in the Power rankings.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
We haven't talked much about it, but there's weird stuff
going on with AJ Brown.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
Yeah, there is.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
They're not utilizing them the same way. They're not scheming
things up. He doesn't look quite as good. The stuff
coming out of his mouth and whatnot is not great.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
Looks like he's taking a lot of routes off.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
Yeah, there's more to them. I think there's flames to
that smoke that they need to deal with.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
There is. You know, that's always an intriguing, say situation
to me because AJ Brown is the godfather to Jalen
hurts his child really Okay, or maybe it's the other
way around, but is the godfather? Yes, but they're like
great friends. One of them is the godfather to the
other one's child. Like their relationship over the past year has.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
On the field, On the field has seemed a little fractured, right, But.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
This is everyone was saying the same thing this time
last year and they figured it out and he was
happy and they were happy, and they went on to
win the Super Bowl. But man, this time around seems
a little more smoky, little more fiery, and.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
It's easy to see brown side of things. You gonna
throw me the ball on the stud. But you watch
him on tape, he might be declining. I hope not.
He's one of my favorite guys to root for. But
Smith might be the better player right this second.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
You know, interesting one to keep an eye on.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
And there's stuff going on there, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
And then at number one up to spots, after the
Eagles and the Bills lost, it is the d Troit
Lions they're rolling.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
I guess I can't fight them with.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
One four in a row, right, pretty convincingly beating those
teams too.
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Yeah, they're not just squeaking by over the Bengals and
teams like that. I mean they're blowing people out.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
I think the top four is correct. Detroit, Philly, Buffalo, Tampa.
You could give them to me in any order and
I wouldn't argue right.
Speaker 3 (36:18):
Now, Yeah, I don't know that I could put Tampa one.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
Yeah, I guess that's fair.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
Boy Baker's playing well.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
If he's playing as well as he is, man, I
tell you what. Like you said too, he's still got
that walk on mentality. He just doesn't matter that he
won the Heisman, doesn't matter that he was the first
overall pick. Like he's still every game takes that field
like he's got to prove it to the world.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
My son texted me a bunch yesterday, He's like, I
think Baker is my favorite quarterback in the league now. Yeah,
just so easy to root for, you know that, that
mentality if you're eighteen nineteen year old, I mean, like,
how could you not love root.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
For that and kind of sticking it to the Browns
thousand times? Right? Yeah, I've told you before. If it
wasn't for Baker Mayfield for three straight years, ripping out
my mountain, your heart and stamping on it, I think
I would like that guy on too right now, but
I just can't do it. Too many heartbreaking losses for
my alma mater at the hands of Baker Mayfield and
the Oklahoma Sooners. But there is your power rankings for
(37:14):
what are we hear heading into week six? Now? Already
out of week five into week six and plenty of
moving and shaking here on this Tuesday. We'll wrap up
the show with a couple tweets when we return. On
the other side was Shuuler Matt Williamson. It's the Drive
on Steelers Nation Radio on the Steelers Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
Your two weeks about drive on your twenty four to
seven home of the Black and Goal Steelers Nation.
Speaker 5 (37:45):
Radio final segment.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
Here on a Tuesday, couple of tweets to get too mad,
if that's all right with you, to close this thing down.
And here's a good one from Brad. You kind of
called this, You said you can't say nice things about
Miles Garrett without people.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
Yeah, you come public, get mean or number one around
here for that.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
So Brad tweets and he did his research and like nothing,
no vitriol here, Just I think a good question. Brad
tweets you, guys in your reference to Miles Garrett playing
better than ever before, right now he is averaging point
eight per game, point eight sacks, one point six TFLs,
and two point six quarterback hurries.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
TJ this season.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
This season, okay, right now to this point per game,
point eight sacks a game, one point six TFLs, two
point six QB hurries. TJ is point seventy five sacks,
one point two five TFLs, but four point seventy five
hurries per game for TJ uh TJ Watt two pass deflections,
(38:52):
one force fumble, one fumble recovery one interception, Miles Garrett
one pass deflection. So I simply ask you which one
is having the more impactful season.
Speaker 3 (39:03):
Ill 's get this out of the way, because we
have to do this every Browns week and you can
egg me on my way to the car if you want.
Garrett's tape is better. He's the best defensive player in
the world right now. And Parsons to me, is the
only one that even has a conversation and Benito is
the only one that's a conversation right now for defensive
player trying to fly up the and he is great
(39:29):
numbers like, he's the only one to me competing with
Garrett for defensive player of the Year. And DENVER'SNNA win
a lot more games in Cleveland, so that might help
him or who knows. That's not None of this means
that TJ stinks and I hate TJ.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
Blah blah blah.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
Frankly, I think TJ's had the better career. I firmly
believe that, and the numbers back it up. I think
the tape even backs it up. But who's a better
football player right now? I'm taking Garrett over every defensive
player in the league. He's ridiculous and he's two under
seven twenty five pounds.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
He's that's great train that's just to put you over
the edge.
Speaker 3 (40:05):
I mean he moves his.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
Move it's like a running back, You're right, and his.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
Lateral agility, and they do scheme him up more. But
he's a remarkable football player. I'm not trying to piss
people off. It doesn't mean I hate the Steelers or
you know, he's If you watch the tape, you'll be
blown away.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
The impactful is an interesting way to phrase it, because
I've always thought that you could argue defensive player of
the Year but for that entire stretch where TJ was
really at his absolute best, and he's still very good now,
but I think he's kind of a little bit on
the other side of his prime.
Speaker 3 (40:43):
He's a passing rusher. Yes, that's why I wanted to
bring up with wat too. No one runs at him
and he forces fumbles at a ridiculous rate. I mean
he's still the best in league.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
That's crazy. I mean he's one of like six guys
in league history now that has one hundred sacks and
eight interceptions, right.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
Right right, SoJ to me, we live numbers now are
getting crazy.
Speaker 2 (40:58):
TJ, to me, has always defined impact like there's some
like some Sidney Crosby element there where he might not
score as many goals as Ovechkin and Connor McDavid.
Speaker 3 (41:07):
It changes the game, but nobody.
Speaker 2 (41:09):
Changes the game.
Speaker 3 (41:10):
Yeah, ye over over the.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
Entire course like he does. It's hard. It's hard for
me to like, I think you're right in the sense
that that that Miles is is the best defensive player
in the world right now, full stop. But I think
it's a testament to TJ that he still has to
two or three impact for a defensive player in this league.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
And I'll be the first to say watt impact is
probably greater than his numbers. Yes, I mean if they
run left every time, that's impact.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
And I tell you what that uh, that whole four
point seventy five hurries per game compared to two point
six for Miles. I wonder how do people at Pro
Football Focus feel about that one? Sorry, I had to
get my had to get my y inser in there
for for five seconds.
Speaker 3 (41:57):
Now. This has been true a lot in Watt's career,
but it's really true in Garrett's career too. They never
have the lead. Having the lead is really helpful to
get pass rush pressure and sacks.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
You know, your Reggie White pin in his ears back
when Brett Farve had the Packers, you know, up ten
points in the fourth.
Speaker 3 (42:13):
Course goes a long way, and there's not a lot.
I mean, Watt doesn't have a lot of it over
his career, but compared to Garrett, it's crazy. So here's
what I think. I may even mentioned this yesterday, but
since their defensive coordinator took over in twenty twenty three,
so it's been twenty twenty three, twenty four, and now
into twenty five, Schwartz's last thing, Jim Schwartz, Sorry, And
(42:35):
Garrett's obviously been a lot to do with this. Since
Schwartz has been their defensive coordinator, they're number one in
defensive EPA, they're thirty second in offensive EPA. Wow, Like
I forget, Oh, I just I shared with Tom Offerman
because we're gonna mention on a show that we're doing later,
and he's like, wouldn't you love just to have a
(42:55):
bunch of beers with Garrett and Schwartz and see what
they really think of their situation? You know, like we're
doing our job. I'll do my job. I'll do you
must be the other guy?
Speaker 2 (43:06):
You must be the other guy? Swing State Samson tweets
would you consider Jalen Daniels out of Kansas as a
quarterback option for the Black and Gold. We'll talk a
little bit more around campus tomorrow. Love his athleticism, love
the amount of games that he started in his collegiate career.
But he is not very accurate as a passer. And
I know that that.
Speaker 3 (43:25):
At first I've heard that name, which isn't a good sign.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
That is not as much of a hindrance of a
trope as it used to be. Right, Like, don't draft
tight ends in the first round in fantasy football. Quarterbacks
aren't going to get any more accurate from college to pro.
It's one of those things that has changed. But I
don't know if I like him as a first round guy.
He's got a lot there to like and work with,
but I don't know if I would like him as
a first round kind of savior of the franchise type guy.
(43:50):
But we will go around campus and talk more about
those quarterbacks tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (43:53):
We have some good matchups this weekend, right, some great matchups.
Speaker 2 (43:56):
Indiana going out to Oregon three third Saturday. That's the
college game day game, and that.
Speaker 3 (44:02):
Is they could be the first two off the board.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
I think the two, with all respect of Leonora's sells.
It's different because he's been coming back from that concussion
and still trying to get right. But those two right
now are the best most intriguing quarterback prospects playing in
college and they're playing against each other on Saturday, baby,
So we'll talk more about that tomorrow. Last one for you, Matt,
real quick. We got like sixty seconds here. Steel Curtin
(44:24):
tweets and says any concern with Joey Porter Junior's durability
since he has not played at all this season.
Speaker 3 (44:33):
I always avoid these questions, and I preface this by saying.
Speaker 2 (44:38):
We're not medical doctors.
Speaker 3 (44:40):
You have as good an idea as me the guy asking.
I mean, I didn't go to med school. I see
no reason to think that he's more quote injury prone
than the next guy. No one in the organization's told
me that it's not like it's a recurring soft tissue,
same injury over and over and over. I think he's
had a little bit of bad luck, but he hasn't
(45:00):
missed that much time.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
Right, I mean, I'd say the same thing about a herbig. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (45:08):
Absolutely, it's hard to stay healthy and sleep. I don't know,
I have an injury prone is not something I throw
around same here, Yeah, and I don't know if I
believe it much.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
It's also why too, why I like to give credit
to guys like Najie Harris who their durability is clearly
a strength.
Speaker 3 (45:23):
Yeah, guys go out there every week, you know. Right.
Speaker 2 (45:26):
Of course, Unfortunately for Najy that went away for him
as soon as he left Western Pennsylvania.
Speaker 3 (45:31):
Like even watching the Sunday Night or like Josh Allen's
never miss a game like that guy's taking a beating, right.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
Can't our style man?
Speaker 3 (45:38):
Right?
Speaker 2 (45:38):
Yeah, it's a great point. Great point, Matt, good stuff today.
Enjoyed today's show. Thanks to Chris Hallick for joining us
on the program here today. Tomorrow Best of the West
around campus. Uh will start to look ahead to the
Cleveland Browns a little bit.
Speaker 3 (45:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (45:53):
Also catch up with our buddy Chris Adanski as well too.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
Tuesdays when most of Matt's stat work happens. Oh yeah,
I'll send you the.
Speaker 2 (45:59):
Rough draft and we will do some of that MVP offense. Yeah,
I want to take a Play of the Year conversation tomorrow.
Big thanks to Tyler V mister TV, our YouTube producer,
for making us look pretty on the video side of
things as well for Matt, I'm wes. Take care of everybody.
We'll talk to you tomorrow. You know where to find
us as always, It's on your twenty four to seven
home of the Black and Gold. It's Steelers Nation Radio
(46:19):
