Speaker 1 (00:03):
Your tune's about Drive on your twenty four to seven
home of the Black and Goals Steelers Nation Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Hour number two of the Drive here and it's gonna
be a fantasy football heavy, fantasy football focused hour here
as we get ready for a big weekend for a
lot of people with their fantasy drafts. This is a
big week big weekend. You'll have your draft. When do
you got you guys do that Saturday Sunday when.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
This is the first time we're doing it Friday night.
People are going early that we'll do it like dinnertime Friday.
That'll be when it interfered. It was always like in
the middle of day Saturday and we're gonna be on
the lake and or watching the games or whatever. So
that works out pretty well.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Then.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yeah, then you get the rest of the time to
kind of just relax and enjoy Deep Creek and all
that good stuff with your boys before we do some
mock drafts to get us up out of here for
today and for this week, Matt, we've been going over
your different positional power rankings here and wide receivers left
today and to be fair like I did some mock
(01:23):
scenario questions with you where we talked about how you
had Jamar Chase one and Justin Jefferson two. I also
don't think though, that that's probably much of a surprise
to people either.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
No, and some people have cdee Lamb too. Nobody really
has Chase not being first. Now some overriding wide receiver
things which probably shouldn't shock anybody. This position's loaded, you.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Know, so it's maybe as good as it's ever been
in NFL history.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
I really believe that. I mean every team has like
a DK Metcalf for better you know. I mean, like
it's crazy to say that when you watch DK in person,
like wow, it's not uncommon for somebody.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
It's the Golden age so strong.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
So for that reason, when we get into like wide
receiver twenty to thirty five on my board, I think
you're gonna get really really good value. So I've been
looking at it like I might take one pretty high
and then wait, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth round and get
it hard. Now, some leagues you have to start three,
(02:26):
and there's a flex, you know, So that's different. PPR
is gonna be a little stronger. I made these for
half PPR leagues, but there's a lot to pick from
and sorting them out is by far the hardest position
for me, because even just now, like I moved Drake London,
who I have eight here, I moved him to I
(02:46):
have him nine on this list this morning I put
him at seven, ahead of Puka Nakuakay. Like I've just
been I'd stare at these things and once in a
while it just kind of looks at me, funny, like
he's not in the right place, Matt, you know. So
that's the way it works. So no, Chase, it one's
an easy one.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
He just won the triple ground averaged one hundred yards
in a touchdown every game. Yeah, averaged, and.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
They being like crazy, Yes, I mean.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
They're gonna have to score points and quickly.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah, we could fight if Jefferson or Chase is a
better football player, sure, but we can't fight over their
quarterbacks or game script stuff. They all favor the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Yep, ceedee Lamb at three like you mentioned, yeah number four, Nico.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Collins, do you think Pickens eats into Lamb much?
Speaker 2 (03:28):
So?
Speaker 3 (03:29):
I have Pickens unusually high.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
I told you, I think I can't remember if it
was earlier this week or last week. You know, all
the days blend together. But remember I told you that
I was deciding between Justin Jefferson and Ceedee Lamb and
one of my drafts, and the reason I went with
Jefferson is because I think Pickens has to eat into
CDs a little bit. And this was before they brought
back Adam Feelin, who will obviously play a role. But
(03:53):
I also thought, like, hey, Jordan Addison's going to be
out the first three games, what if it takes him
a couple of weeks after that to get back up
the speed. Like, So those were kind of the reasons
that I that I leaned towards Justin Jefferson. I'm not
saying that you have CD too high on here.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Because right, he's so consistent, but.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
I think that it might be more so of beware
drafting anybody on that Dallas offense other than Cede Lamb
and George Pickens, because they're going to eat a lot
of the pie.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Yeah. I actually think the more I think through it,
I think the Dallas offense is going to be very
similar to Cincinnati's. Like, I don't think Pickens is really
that much different than T Higgins, and he's going like
four rounds ahead of them.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
M h.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
I mean, who's more talented? We could flip a coin.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
He certainly could, Yeah, certainly could. Yeah, Nico Collins at four,
Malik Neighbors, who you just said you think is a star,
You've got him at five.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
I adore Nico by the way. I think he's like
one of the under raged. Yeah. Like, I don't know
if everyone listening realizes that he's in the real world
a top five wide receiver, I mean, and by far
the top target there. And I don't think they'll run
the ball well Neighbors head or insane target shair, Like
forty percent of the passes last year went to him,
(05:04):
and that'll say people, I was gonna say, that'll probably
continue right right right, Well, why is that going to change? Too?
So I think all those guys are superstars. They're all
like top and actually these next two too, are all
pretty much going in the top fifteen to sixteen picks.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
You know, number six on your list, I'm on Ross
Saint Brown number seven? Well is it seven now, Drake
London or do you want.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
To spick London over Niakua? Just because of Stafford stuff
starting to worry me a little bit. Nothing against Nikua
but a rams note here is it's a McVeigh note.
The ball goes to their top two receivers. In the
pass game, they don't throw the backs much. I know
they've just drafted a tight end, but they really don't
throw the tight ends much. Third receiver doesn't get any action.
(05:48):
McVeigh tells us where he wants to get the football,
and he designs it for them totally. I just don't
want Stafford's back to collapse. Yeah. Probably like the most
consistent guy in the.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
World too, incredibly incredibly, he's got the Terry mc and
he's like the new Age, the new Terry mcclaurin, although
albeit with better quarterback player. Yeah, you just know what
you're getting than Yeah, one hundred percent. Uh So that
so Drake London seven, PUK eight, Brian Thomas junior at
number nine, he minding rookie year.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Yeah, and I'm buying. I mean we had the Lawrence conversation.
I'm buying the offense. I think Lawrence turns his career around.
Hunter is actually really high on there too, so I
don't think they're of a great running game. Thomas was
super impressive.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Oh, crazy impressive. He's gonna get a lot of targets
this year. I think in Liam Cohen's offense. AJ Brown
number ten on your list, the Super Bowl champion.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
I'm worried. I'm a little low.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
You're worried a little low on him. Okay, just the other.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Names were so great. I have never moved him out
of ten.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
But you think they're passing, I mean, I remember the passing.
You do think they're gonna throw the ball more.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
I think their schedule is tougher. I don't think they're
gonna be winning by an Obsino account anymore. And they're
gonna be good, as we mentioned in the previous segment,
But I don't think think that that's just going to
be a whole fourth quarter of run, run, run, run, run.
So I think there'll be more pass attempts for the Eagles,
And frankly, I think he is I'm going to pull
us up. I think he's a top five NFL player
(07:14):
too in his position. You know, like, who do you
want on your football team? How about this last year,
including the playoffs in Super Bowl, the Eagles were losing
in the fourth quarter for only sixty two plays. Like
that has to go up, I mean.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
It has to That's insane.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Sixty two plays. They were losing.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Hashtag Matt's stats.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
I'm like, I mean that that can't keep up.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
That's why. That's yeah, wild, yes, that's that's that's like
the Proger Jones Georgia teams statics.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Who we're going fifteen and as small in everybody.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Baseball cast on backwards on the sideline.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
They're eating hot dogs right in the in the third
quarter of the National Championship game. Lad McConn one of
the great names.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Here's I start to get a little where I'm not
shopping in this aisle. Not that I hate these players,
but because I mentioned.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
I love you, love the middle class.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
I love the rounds after these This is in the
neighborhood where I'm letting somebody else take like these next
ten guys.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Lad McConkie, T Higgins, Yeah, Mike Evans, Jackson Smith and
Jigba Davante Adams at fifteen. That's your eleven through fifteen game.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Yeah, and not even keep going.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Garrett Wilson sixteen, Marvin Harrison Junior at seventeen.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Tyreek scares the heck out him, Tyreek.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Hill at eighteen, and DK metcalf of this parish at nineteen.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
And then McLaurin even at twenty. For where they're going,
that ten rarely ends up on my team, you know,
Like Evans is the one I keep looking at, like
everyone thinks this guy's getting old, and he's not.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
He's he's incredible good. He's unbelievable, the most underrated wide
receiver ever.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Yeah, and everyone, all of our buddies that were at
the Steeler joint practice were like, oh my god, Mike
Evans awesome. Yeah, like he's not losing. But you know,
like most people have him as like wide receiver eighteen.
I have him thirteen. So he may end up on
my team, but for the most part, I'm getting a
second running back here, or I'm digging into a pretty
good tight end or a good quarterback. Because the names
(09:15):
from like twenty one to thirty.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Five are very good. They're really good.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
There are a lot of like top targets on their teams,
super talented players, guys like Devonte Smith who's a two
but just because his team doesn't throw a one on
most teams. You know, like that whole group to me
is really rich with guys that I'm really comfortable starting,
and I'm getting them in like the sixth and seventh
(09:40):
round because there's so many good receivers.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Twenty one George Pickens.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
I think he catches touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
I think I think he's going to be primed for
a big year. Yes, both in like just reality and
in fantasy football standpo.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
Asion after the years, A lot of reasons they motivated.
I think they throw a ton good quarterback.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
There's number one wide receiver lined up across from him.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
I could pull out some real nerdy stats on him.
Is like they'll shock No.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
One.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
He's like one of the He's like basically the best
deep ball receiver in the league since he's been in
the league. Well, that's also like the best deep ball thrower,
you know. Like it's pretty to co exactly what they're
looking for.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
Twenty two. Your second rookie on this list, right, No, sorry,
first rookie on this list, Travis Hunter.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
I'll always bet on talent, and he's a remarkable talent.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Totally. Jaln Waddle twenty three.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
I just trust Waddle more than Tyreek. Tyreek's reminded me
like AB's last year here, like there's a little craziness
going on and maybe it's just gonna be Wattles.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Here twenty four, Calvin Ridley twenty five, another rookie Tech McMillan.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
And they'll throw a Lave in there too.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Yeah, he's an interesting one.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
They're all really talented and clearly like a DK metcalf
the number one on their team. I mean, those teams
aren't really good, but they're gonna be losing in the
fourth quarter, and the Laves and Ridley, you're gonna get
three catches in the fourth quarter, you know. I mean,
like so if you can get those guys that late,
they're really talented, clear number ones, bad teams, you know,
(11:11):
like it works out. There's a lot of things I
like about those guys.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
There certainly are. Uh is Chris If we're still having
this Steelers wide receiver conversation approaching the trade deadline, was
Chris o'lave one of those names we could talk about
again if.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
The Saints are the slightest bit interested. I adore him?
Speaker 2 (11:27):
But is that too difficult to do with what you
just gave up for d K. I guess we'll have
to wait and see it.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
I don't know. In October Man, Yeah, I mean he's
going on contract. I mean he's up after this year
or too. He's the same draft class as Pickings. I
think he's great, though. I love to get him, and
I would don't mind paying a premium to do it.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Twenty seven Zavior Worthy.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
He's a tough one to rank because he really really
spiked after Racey Rice got hurt, and now Rice is
going to be out the first six weeks, but then
he comes back. I usually don't end up them on
my team, but I've maybe moved him up and up
and down the board more than anybody out there.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Makes sense. Twenty eight Davonta Smith, twenty nine, Jamison Williams,
thirty Courtland Sutton.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
Not a lot to comment on them. I just still
like all these names. If I end up with two
or three of these guys and I'm loaded at other positions,
I think you're a really nice build.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
How far down you want me to keep going?
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Here? Zay Flowers at thirty one my last one I'm
real comfortable with. I have DJ Moore at thirty two
and race You Rice at thirty three, kind of because
I don't know what to do with them. I have
a lot of concerns that more is going to lose
the number one job to a doonsday in Chicago, and
(12:41):
there's a lot of mouse to feed, and Rice is
like a league winner when he's in there. But you
know he's out six weeks, right, you know?
Speaker 2 (12:49):
And then how's he going to look in the in
the two or three games after that when he's trying
to get back up to speed.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
So I probably am it's all said and done, I'll
probably have him at like forty. I keep moving them down,
moving them down. But you're like the league that I'm
drafting this weekend. We have an IR spot, so I
can just stick him on IR for six weeks and
then he comes back and it's like, let's go.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Let's go.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
Right.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
No, that makes a lot of sense if you do
have that. Yeah, Matt, good stuff with your wide receiver rankings. Yeap,
what do you say we do a little mock draft
scenarios when we come back. We will do that. In
the final two segments, to close down things for today,
was Shuoler Matt Williamson. It is the Drive on Steelers
Nation Radio on the Steelers Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Your tunes about Drive on your twenty four to seven
home of the Black and Goal Steelers Nation Radio.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Back on the drive here as it is time to
get to a little fantasy football mock draft scenario. And Matt,
I think we picked a good way to do this.
So what we're gonna do is, we're gonna do two
different mock drafts. We're gonna kind of pick in tandem.
I guess, if you will, right, is the best way
to put it here. Uh we So we're gonna we're
gonna do uh Fantasy pros first. Next segment will do
(14:25):
one with Pro Football Focus. So two different simulators there,
thought processes, rankings, all those different things, and so we
just randomly got assigned a pick. It is a of
course twelve team league that we are doing here as well,
and we have gotten pick number four. Jamar Chase off
the board.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
We do the next one, Let's get one kind.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Of that's what like a something like that. So Jamar
Chase off the board first, then say Kwon Barkley, then
be Jean Robinson.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
I got that doesn't surprise me at all.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Same, I think those guys will top three and ninety
percent of drafts.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
I think it comes down to we just talked receivers.
We both prefer Jefferson to Lamb. Yes, So if we're
gonna go wide out, I think it's Jefferson, agreed. I
think it's a little early for McCaffrey, Henry. I think
Gibbs is the running back to consider here would you
rather do? I'm usually Dale and I have done a
million of these, and we've done from spots, so I'm fun.
(15:23):
This is fun for me to do it the first
time because I'm curious what the bill would be like
with Gibbs as a starter, and I'm curious what would
be like with.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Jefferson Jefferson as a starter.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
Yeah, and I do like a lot of the depth
at wide receivers. So if we would go Jefferson, which
I don't mind, I bet I wouldn't want to take
one again to like the sixth.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
Round, correct, you know? And I, if you'll allow me
to be selfish, I would rather us take Jamiir Gibbs because,
like I was just telling you, in our draft last week,
I had the fourth pick and this exact scenario played out,
and I took Justin Jefferson.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
Switch out. Yeah all right, So.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Team the Drive here will select Jamior Gibbs fourth overall,
and we will wait for the snake to come back around,
and here we go. AJ Brown still on the board,
Bucky Irving's still on the board. Josh Jacobs, Ladd mcconkeye,
choice of quarterback, choice of quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
That's kind of intriguing. What's the tight ends look like.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
Let's see here, Bride is there, but Bowers is gone.
AJ Brown, Ladd McConkie, Jackson Smith, and Jigba T. Higgins.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
How about this the running backs?
Speaker 2 (16:31):
Just the running backs, Josh Jacobs, Bucky Irvin, James Cook,
o'mary and Hampton.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
I'm kind of leaning towards a big time quarterback. But
if we wait, since none of the quarterbacks have been touched,
the chances of all four top quarterbacks going before our
third pick is pretty slim.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Pretty slim.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
I mean, all three teams have it won't happen. All
three teams would have to take one.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Right right as we snake back around, because we're gonna
have another pick pretty soon.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
So let's count on round three at quarterback, Okay, and
go for one of those studs. Now, would you rather
pair Gibbs with like an AJ Brown? Or would you
rather pair them with like a Josh Jacobs? Both totally
makes sense to me.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Both totally makes sense to me as well too.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
Knowing you're not gonna get the next position till the
fourth round.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
We're gonna have to wait because we're we're gonna go
quarterback in round three, We're gonna have to wait a
long time.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Running Backs get picked through pretty quick.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
That was my thought process was, if I have to
take a risk on someone staying, someone lasting on the board,
I think i'd do that in the wide receiver department.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Yeah, I mean, we just had the wide receiver conversation. A. J.
Brown's not gonna last their path.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
You know, you know, but there will be guys, there
will be guys we like, whereas with running back we
might be starting to get already.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Towards your reaching type guys.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
You're reaching type guys.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Nice to start with Gibbs and Jacobs.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
It sure is any thought of Bucky Irving in your
mind or you going Josh.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
Josh, I think that's a conversation. I think you'll catch
more passes than Jacob's good offense. Yer, they're close. I
think I have Jacob's one spot ahead.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Let's go with Josh Jacobs. Let's do it all right,
So we got no we.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Don't have to do quarterback here, but it seems like
it would be logical.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Jade and Daniels still there?
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Two of them went, Lamar and Allen Lamar.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
And Allen went, But Daniel's still there.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
No way Daniels or Hurts gets to our next pick.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
No chance.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Is aj Brown still there?
Speaker 2 (18:23):
No, No, he's not. But Jackson Smith and Jig But
is T Higgins still is there?
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Evans is appealing to me too.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Mike Evans, Tyreek Hill, Well the tight ends?
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Is there a McBride or McBride went.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
McBride went, still have Kittle?
Speaker 3 (18:36):
I think I'd still go quarterback like our original plan.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
I think so too. Is this the Jaden Daniels spot?
Are you thinking Jalen Hurts?
Speaker 3 (18:42):
I like Daniel slightly better.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
I think I do too.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
I think defense is worse. I think they throw more.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
That's exactly kind of what I think. He's going to
have more opportunities to put up points and have to
have to play from, you know, from a from a
trailing position as opposed to a leading to.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
That crazy stat about them never losing in the fourth
quarter basically.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Right, So let's take Jade Daniels. Let's do it so
through three rounds we have Jamiir Gibbs and Josh Jacobs.
We also have Jadeen Daniels. I would say we desperately
need a wide receiver now here. T Higgins still on
the board, as is Terry McLaurin, Marvin Harrison Junior, DJ Moore.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
DJ Moore doesn't appeal to me.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
It doesn't appeal to me very much either, Uh Sam Laporta.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
If Kittle was still there, I would considered it be
interesting still a Tier one guy, yes, but that would
be really late a receiver. I think we just got
to settle on a receiver here.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
I think we do too. I do too. And so
the question is is do we double up on the
Terry and uh Jaden connection or do we go T Higgins.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
I think I have Higgins. We just went over, but
I think I had Higgins seven or eight spots higher.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
Like Noticeablie, Yes, I think you did too.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
It was like eleven ish verse twenty for McLaurin.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Higgins's time.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
I think it's I think we're pretty lucky he's still
sitting there.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
I think so too. I think that's a don't overthink
it will yeah, yeah, yeah, and take take T. Higgins
here as our fourth round selection. So now we're back
on the clock here pretty quickly.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
And he was like that receiver area where I was
talking about before, there's a lot of these guys like
Pickens might still be there. Hunter. I mean like there's
a lot of dudes of interest here.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
Sutton is an interesting, intriguing.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
Yeah, you can even hit the suggest more players. They'll
give you a couple more.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
See for some reason, it's not like because it's like
you gotta sign up. Yeah, yeah, but let's see here.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
We're not gonna touch quarterback forever.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
No. R J. Harvey still on the board at running back.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Tony Pollard's exciting.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
Tony Pollard bears is hurt, right, he could be the guy.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
He gets a ton of action, And I don't mind
taking a third back because we got to flex him
really early and then just basically being done and hitting
those receivers like I like.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Sam Laporta still there at tight end. Pretty much everybody
that has you know that was their last round is
still there.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
I think it's between your favorite receiver or Pollard who
and any of those receivers would do the trick for me.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Yeah, I hm, I'm leaning towards This might be the
last opportunity to get a running back that we really like.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
And one thing, I get greedy with running back.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
I think if you're gonna get greedy, that's the place.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
To do it, because, Okay, one of these guys is
gonna get hurt. But I can live with it, you know.
I think it's a great spot to grab Pollard here.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
I think so too.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
And then you start really focusing on like back to
back receiver, yes, because.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
There'll be guys you like, which hopefully as and this
kind of works out well for the exercise that you
and I just did talking wide receivers Ted McMillan and
George Picktts. Is this an easy like I'm I would take.
I think I'm running to the podium here taking George Picketts.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
You might catch twelve touchdowns?
Speaker 2 (21:59):
Is our sixth round pick?
Speaker 3 (22:00):
That's what I mean. Like, there's a lot of receivers
here that you just are really happy to be looking at.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
I'm happy to be looking at George Pickens. Didn't think
i'd be saying that, but let's take them as uh man,
I'm really liking this team that we got here so far.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
I like Hunter, I like Waddle. That would be our
third receiver.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
It would be we having Djoku, Evan Ingram, Tucker Craft,
Tyler Warren.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
Oh, Craft's my guy, Like that's my.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
I'm at tempted by Craft or Warren here.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
But I kind of think we can last one one
more round on a time end. Most teams probably took one.
I mean, that's your rolling the dice. I just hate
turning away from that group of receivers you just pulled up.
I love Wattle, I love mill Will.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Jamison Will.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
All those guys to me are great values. I'm very
comfortable starting all of them.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Where you want to go here, mister Williamson.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Hunter, I love it. We're gonna take especially because we
already have two and as it sits, he's actually a player.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
For Right, So we could give them a couple of
weeks to get.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
Up to speed, see how they're going to use them,
and you.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
Know, totally, Travis Hunter, lock it in as our seventh
round selection.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
Now. Hoping Craft is still out there, that would be
appealing to me.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
I bety, Tucker Craft is still there, Tyler Warren is
still there, and Joku. None of the tight ends went
off the board.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Actually that's surprised me. Most teams probably already have their Yes,
this is going to do it now? Or do you
want to go see best available?
Speaker 2 (23:28):
Lave is still there?
Speaker 3 (23:29):
Say these receivers?
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Dunes is still there?
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Four of those guys? Are we didn't get even down
the list of where I have a Buka Mecca? Yeah,
in that group, And this is where you don't want
to be drafting running back.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Absolutely not.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
I mean, like you compare like a Lave to Braylan
Allen much. I'd much rather be going receiver in this neighborhood.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Absolutely. So that's the question to me here too, is
do we really start to have a a nice plethora
of receivers here?
Speaker 3 (23:56):
I mean, we have an abundance, we'd have.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
A great bench. I mean, or do we take a starter?
Do we take a starter at tight end and get
it out of the way and don't have to wait
on one.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Up to you? You think Kraft lasts one more round
or not? If he doesn't, we can live with Warren
or one of the others.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
But yeah, that's what I'm saying wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
I like all those names, but I'm not sure which
one's my favorite. A Lave is my favorite, but they're
all similar.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
I think Olave is my favorite two, but not a
run of the podium, run to the podium. This is
an easy selection type.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
Yeah, you just want to take Craft and then see
what receiver.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
I kind of do.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
Okay, okay, let's do it.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Let's take Tucker Craft from Green Bay in the eighth
round here, and we're back on the clock pretty quickly.
But let's look and see a couple of wide receivers
just came off the board in those few picks though,
right before, right before us Pierce all Olave, Godwin, Bang
bang bang.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Yeah it adds up, man, I mean like these are
values at this point.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
But Rome Adunze is still there, a Mecca Abuka is
still there. Stefan Digg's still there. Kobe Myers, who we've
talked a lot about in the last few days, still there.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
I have Digs really highly ranked. They gave him a
ton of money. He's a number one receiver. They're gonna
be losing a lot. All his injury stuff seems to
be in the past. But I'm also quite high on Abuka.
He's be the number two and a great offense from
the startup that no one's gonna miss. Time.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
That's the thing for me. I think in this range,
I don't want to say I want a safe bet,
but I would like to minimize risk with somebody that
I know is gonna give me a good season. Yeah,
maybe not an A season, but a B season is
fine with me. Here, I think a Meccha Abuka probably
has the highest floor of all these guys left. Does
that make sense?
Speaker 3 (25:36):
He's been shooting up boards.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
He feels like, again a number two in a really
good offense. It's gonna score some points and super impressive,
whereas there's a lot of questions around the offense in
Chicago and New England. In Las Vegas.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
Yeah, I don't know if Myers will even be a Raider, you.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Know, and that as well too, And what if he
ends up going somewhere where we're not keen on their
fantasy football prospects.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
Exctually, if he was a Steeler number two receiver, you
wouldn't be thrilled about it for fantasy exactly right, exactly
friendly offense, Let's go Mecha. Does that work for you?
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Yeah? Yeah, you think maybe one more pick here for
this one, Matt and then we can so uh. That
was our ninth round pick. We are now into the
tenth round available, Juan Jennings, were, Shod White, Trey Benson,
and Joke. Who's still there?
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Man?
Speaker 2 (26:20):
A lot of those Titands, Tyler Warren is still there.
A lot of those Titans hung around in this draft.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Is there a running back of notes?
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Uh Rashad White like Tyler?
Speaker 3 (26:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (26:30):
You like Trey Benson.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
I was hoping Jaylen Warren was still there. He's usually
a round or two before this, but he's a guy
who've gotten a lot mm hm.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Hmmm.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
We' hit receiver almost too hard at this point.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
Yes, I think it's time to take another running I mean,
we do have like three starters at running back and
one of them is in our flex, but I think
it's time to take another running back here. You want
to go Trey Benson, I think so. I think that
works for me.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
James Connor injury away from him being very relevant.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
That's a pretty good ten round draft that we came Yeah,
with Matt Jade and Daniels, Jamier Gibbs, Josh Jacobs, T Higgins,
George Pickens, Tucker Craft, Tony Pollard, Travis Hunter, ameca A
Buca and Trey Benson.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
A strong bench and depth and yeah, and a lot
of these ones that I've done myself. I don't end
up with the stud quarterback and end up with a
lot of these same names. Yeah, you know you get
the stud quarterback too.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Like I told you, I picked it fourth in a
twelve man league, this exact scenario that we just did.
I think I might and I like my draft, but
I think I might like this one even a little
bit more.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
There's just so many good receivers to pick from, you know,
Like there were several times where like I like six
of these receivers, then the next round of four of
them are still.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
There, correct, which is an important note to make for
all of you going forth. So that was the Fantasy
pros mock. Let's take a break here on the other side,
we'll do the Pro Football Focus, same exercise. We'll start
later in the draft, yeah, where we will randomize it
till we get somewhere in that eight to twelve range. Cool,
and then we will go from there. That's how we
will close things down. To keep this Fantasy Football Power
Hour going west, Shooler, Matt Williamson. It's the Drive on
(27:56):
Steelers Nation Radio on the Steelers Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Your tunes about drive on your twenty four to seven
home of the Black and Goal Steelers Nation Radio.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
Final segment here in the Fantasy Football Power Hour, to
wound down, wound down, wind down, I'm wound up if
you can't tell. We got a long weekend ahead of
us to wind down this final segment of our show today.
So we have switched over to Pro Football Focus for
our mock draft. This time, different rankings, different simulation. We
(28:44):
got pick number eight, which I like. That's a eight
out of twelve team league different here, and the first
seven picks played out much differently in front of us.
Matt as we kind of hit the start button here.
Jamar Chase one, Bijon Robinson two, Christian McCaffrey three, Wow,
Justin Jefferson, Jamior Gibbs five, Saquon Barkley lasting until six.
If this happens in your league, please call one eight hundred.
(29:07):
Need some help with fantasy football?
Speaker 3 (29:09):
Right like you're the sixth guy.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
If you're a sixth person and you take Saquon, the
five people in front of you should be barred from
ever playing fantasy again. Ashton genty goes seventh. So we
are now on the clock. At eight, and there's been
a big run on running backs already.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
Which scares me a little, but it also leaves a
CD Lamb.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
It also does leave us CD Lamb here at pick eight,
which I feel like would be is.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
The running back you would take Henry.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
The running back I would take is Henry or a
chain I don't love. I mean, I'm not taking Bucky
Irving this high. I'm not taking Brown Jacobs. This is
half PPRH. Yeah, I'm glad you both of these have
been half PPR by the way as well.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
Just to kind of make everybody happy. Yes, it's early
for me for Henry. Should I score a million touchdowns?
I think Lamb's just kind of the bird in the
hand here.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
I think so too. I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
You took him at you almost took him at four.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
I almost took him at four. I think I would
definitely take him at eight again. With the run on
running backs that we've seen so far, especially.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Now, I'm a little worried about running backs. We looked
against the face in round two, but that doesn't mean.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
We will snake back around here pretty quick though.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Yeah, let's Lamb. Let's take claim he's better than the
eighth best fantasy player in the.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Correct correct I think that's a great way to put it,
so as we usually.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
A pretty safe round one drafter.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
I think so too.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
I think you can lose your league in round one.
I'm not sure you can win your league.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
Round one great way to put it.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
I really want to go running back here, but.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
I do too. And there's I don't love it. Not
the greatest group. But you got Bucky Irving, you've got Brown,
you've got Williams, You've got Jonathan Taylor, Amari and Hampton.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
Brown is not for me and Williams is not for me.
Irving and Taylor, I think it has to be one
of those two. Yeah, I mean I think I think
receiver receiver really hurts you when, like we just did
the last segment, when you're like the seventh and eighth round,
you're not happy you went receiver receiver.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
I think Jonathan Taylor is the pick here too. I'm
with you. We'll lock it in. Yeah, yeah, let's lock
it in. That's where we're going with our second round pick.
So Ceedee Lamb and Jonathan Taylor are first two UH.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
Player President to go receiver. One of these next two
picks too.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
I agree, I don't want to go right back to
the running back and well here again if we can.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
Two of my favorites that could be available here in
the third round are Kenneth Walker and Omarion Hampton. I
wouldn't considered either in the second, but I would consider
they're both there.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Good, both are still here, as is Kyen Williams, as
is James Cook, James Connor, R. J. Harvey.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
There's some risk with those guys. Walker gets hurt a lot.
Hampton's a pure rookie, but I don't think nausey's in
his way at all at this point, and Walker, when
he's out there, is highly productive.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
One of the best.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
I would strongly consider. I would strongly suggest one of
those two. And I've gone back and forth my personal
ranks of who I like better the moment. I've Hampeden
ahead of them, but they're like the same.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
The all the top quarterbacks off the board here as
well too. I'm just curious that tight ends Kittle still
on the board.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
Okay, but I think we got to go running back then.
I think I do not want to.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
Be read that's round one hundred percent with you. That's
the thing, if you don't take a running back in
the first round. It feels like you almost have to
in the second and third round because you need guys
who are going to be starters and guys who get
the ball, Guys who get the ball a lot. I'm
leaning towards Hampton here as well, too. Let's do it.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
It's just kind of safety blanket. Those first three picks
don't make me jump out of my chair, but they don't.
I think it sets us up for the rest of it.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
I was going to say, I certainly don't like the
start of this as much as I liked the Star
of our, of our, of our last one. So we
have now a wide receiver ceed Lamb, and two running
backs as well, uh and Jonathan Taylor and Omari and Hampton.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
Any chance Kittle's still there, he.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Is not, He is gone, would assume. So yeah, okay,
Garrett Wilson.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
Four quarterbacks are gone.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Top four quarterbacks are gone. Burrow is gone as well too.
You got Mayfield, you got Party, you got Fields.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
Okay. So I think it comes down to running backs
and receivers.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
Running backs and receivers. I I I think we are
correct on that. I'm with you, Garrett, Wilson still there,
Marvin Harrison Junior, Travis Hunter, Jackson Smith and jig but
tyreek Hill, Ted McMillan, James Connor, R. J. Harvey.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
I don't love this area of the draft.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
I don't either. This would be like, can I trade
down here? If this was you know real. Let's sort
here by average draft position. Man tyreek Hill's average draft
position is twenty seven on Pro Football Focus. That's way
too high. That's not them. That's where people have been
picking them in their in their uh, in their system.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
I would consider Smith and Jigba.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
Did you consider Breeze Hall? At this point, I'm going
to say.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
There, I would if a third running back is a
really nice situation. Who are the if you just do
running backs?
Speaker 2 (34:00):
If I just do running backs, give me one second here,
pre saw Chewba Hubbard, James Connor. Henderson's kind of Henderson
is intriguing.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
Now. Connor every year gets drafted too late. Yes, he
just does. You go put the sticker on the board.
No One's like, oh dude, took my guy, and then
he ends up like the running back eight every year.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
Every year.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
It's so boring. But he's just good and he catches balls.
Henderson's the total opposite for me, and that he's really
dynamic and could be like a league winner type guy,
I mean, catches a ton of balls. Hall is the
obvious name, but they have really made it clear and
(34:42):
we'll talk a lot of jets next week that that
they're going to committee that to no end.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
And that's the only thing that worries me or else
would pick me too.
Speaker 3 (34:50):
I've gotten no good vibes out of Breese Hall with
this coaching staff and with fields. Who's going to run
a ton? So I've been avoiding him.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
What about Chewba Hubbard? Here, tubas wll.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
Just like Connor, they run the ball a ton. It's
a good old line. These are our third back. I
mean it's like hitting a double. I mean, the Tuba
and Connor aren't gonna win the leagues, but you'll start
them every week and they'll get you fourteen points and
you'll be happy. And one of those two is absolutely
fine with me, and then you can just ignore it
and go.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
That's where I'm thinking too, and we'll like that that
receiver pull that we're drafting from.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
So this is another one of these picks where it's
like I'm not doing cartwheels over, but I assume it'll
set us up for better picks in the next couple
of rounds. And this isn't going as smooth as the
first go round.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
It's not.
Speaker 3 (35:37):
Pig, Tuba or Connor.
Speaker 2 (35:39):
That's what That's where I was leaning. I think I'm
gonna go Cuba. Okay, let me younger, younger, and I
think they are going to, like you said, good offensive line.
Still trying to figure out Bryce young They're gonna run
the football a lot.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
They just gave him money. That organization adores him, Yes, yes,
they do. So Now I do not want to take
a fourth running back.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
I do not either.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
This neighborhood for quarterback usually stinks.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
Quarterbacks right now, Bo Nicks, Kyler Murray, Jared Goff, Herbert Party,
Prescott Straus.
Speaker 3 (36:07):
Same guys that'll be there in two rounds.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Correct.
Speaker 3 (36:09):
Tight end's usually a bit of a.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Reach, Mark Andrews, Evan Ingram and Joku Warren Kraft Loveland.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
Okay, And I think this is when we start looking
at receivers.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
Start looking at receivers again. Yeah, Courtland Sutton's still there.
Hold on, let me short just by wide receivers here Sutton,
Rice Smith, Flowers, Ted McMillan, George Pickens, still.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
There, Picks and waddle. It's if you listen to the
first segment. I had all those guys like twenty to
twenty three, and they're going wide receiver thirty two. You know,
like I just differ on that whole group, Like, I
don't think they're much different. I'd rather have those guys
than you know, some of these earlier picks. There's just
(36:53):
a lot to choose from there. I'd love to double
dip at two of these receivers here back to back again.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
I think so too, and George again. I would like
to go with Georgia. Yeah, let's do it. Let's let's
draft George Pickens out of that group, and then I
think I'm with you. I would like to double up
and see who's still here when they snake back.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
Lave, Jamison, Williams. I mean, there's just so much to
pick from in this neighborhood.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
All right, Wide Receiver's still on the board now, Tat McMillan,
Jamison Williams, Travis Hunter, Wattle, Ridley Olave favorites all still there.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
Those top five to me are all equal, basically R.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
J Harvey, Aaron Jones, Joe Mixon, Caleb Johnson, and running
backs are starting to get that's fine.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
Mixing might not play this year, by the way.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Right, he's the one I would stay away from. And
still again, that whole same cast of quarterbacks all.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
Still there, a kind of the same, and no one's
going to be scooping them up for their second quarterback
that they draft.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
Tight ends all the same as well too. I think
I might go back to wide receiver here one more time,
just because it's value. Travis Hunter.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
I'm cool with Hunter. Yeah, I love Wattle. I talked
up Ridley two segments ago, all those guys, tep NICC.
Millan's interesting, we just took a panther.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
But you know I was gonna say, and we took
Travis Hunter in our last one. Mm hm Williams or
waddle wat Okay, let's do.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
It not decisively. I like both.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Yeah, let's lock it in now.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
So again, I love having three very startable running backs
and three or four very startable.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
Receivers totally, you know, totally.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
And that's right now we have three of each at
the moment.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
We have In terms of the running backs, we have
Jonathan Taylor, Murray and Hampton and Chewba.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
Hubbard all extremely startable wide receivers.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
We have Ceedee Lamb, Jalen Wattle and Georgito Piketts.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
Okay, now, I don't mind if we started looking at quarterback.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
I just gonna ask you, is this where we maybe
look at QB's.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
I bet the best guys on the board are still receivers.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
So I think here's here's the best. Here's what's left
at quarterback and tight end, Kyler Murray, Tyler Warren, Jared Goff,
your boy Craft, Herbert Lovelin, Prescott Kincaid.
Speaker 3 (38:59):
I don't like thequarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
I don't love the quarterbacks that are left either. You
want to look at running backs here too, it's kind
of the same. Joe Mix and Caleb Johnson, Quinchawn Jenkins
is Warren there, Warren is there? Robinson is there too
now out in San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
Yeah, he's a backup though. Yeah, I think Warren dominates.
I've ended up with Warren in these names.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
I don't hate him in this neighborhood.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
Yeah, because I think even at a minimum running back,
I look at very short term view and I think
he's going to lead the team in touches at running.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
Back at least through the bye week for a while. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I think that's a good pick.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
Here on it's a good safety if we lose a
running back, you.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
Know, yep, absolutely all right, now we really got to
start looking at quarterbacks and tight ends.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
Drake May is one of my favorite late quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
He's just one of your favorite quarterbacks in general.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
He runs a lot too.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
Let's see here quarterbacks goff Herbert Prescott, Stroud, Caleb Williams,
Drake May, Justin Fields, Jordan love Fields.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
Is the one that's highest on my list.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
He is you have him seventh. I think.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
He shouldn't still be there.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
Tight ends Warren Kraft, lovelhim. We're starting to get down.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
To the maybe i'd grab Craft again, Yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
Think so there's more quarterbacks that I like there that
I can live with. Let's go Craft once again here.
Speaker 3 (40:18):
And U and I wouldn't wouldn't have broke my heart
if we end up with Warren those other dudes. But
it's thinner for sure.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
And then I think we go look and Warren comes
off the board before our next take. Anyways, yep, so
we would have been left with potentially Loveland or Kincaid
or Kyle Pitts to choose from. All right, Matt, let's
close this thing down, this exercise down with a quarterback.
Goff Prescott Stroud, Williams. May Fields love.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
To say, true to my board, would be Fields, but
he scares me. He might throw for like one hundred
yards a game, but he might run for a hundred
I mean run fourteen. He shouldn't still be there. I
mean when he plays football, he scores fantasy points, even
the Steelers who kind of neutered them a little bit.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
Yeah, I think Fields would be the pick here.
Speaker 3 (41:03):
Yeah, I think that's a value.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Let's do it all right, final uh mock draft scenario
for this one. Justin we were at eight, yes, picking
eighth half PPR twelve team league, Justin Fields, Jonathan Taylor,
A mari and Hampton, Ceedee Lamb, Jalen Waddle, uh Tyler Craft,
Chuba Hubbard, Jalen Warren, and George Pickens. All right, I
(41:26):
think I like our first one slightly better. But I
but I like, I do like both.
Speaker 3 (41:30):
Three Steelers from last year on that team. Three old
one still there, oh we won. Still I like I
like the other one better. But this one rebounded pretty nice.
It did, it did, Wattles and those guys filled out
pretty well. Absolutely a c lamb might catch a million balls.
He certainly could, certainly could.
Speaker 2 (41:48):
Matt. Fun stuff today, fun stuff this week, Enjoy the
long weekend and uh and we'll be back on Tuesday.
As always, you know where to find is Hey, everybody,
