Speaker 1 (00:03):
At least he's the drive with Dale Lolly and Matt
Williamson on your twenty four to seven home of the
Black and Gold in Steelers Nation Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
And welcome back.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
I am Dale Lolly, he is the Matt Williamson and
Matt It is time to do a little mock draft
madness here as regardless we're a week away from the draft.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
It is one week away. We should open the show
that right.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Hard to believe he's finally going to be here and
we can. I'm ready, as Bob Labriola said yesterday, we
can finally start talking about who's actually on the team
h these landing spots.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
I'm ready to diagnose as opposed to the players themselves. Yes.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Uh so, we're working off the Pro Football Network mock
drafter today and we are on the clock here. We
got the New Orleans Saints calling with the trade offer
of picks forty and seventy one and next year's two.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
They could pick first overall.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
We could twenty one and pick two twenty nine.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
I'm interested. Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
The other call is from the Seahawks, who are offering
fifty and fifty two and next year's two for twenty
one and two twenty nine.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
I think the Saints steel sounds better. I mean their
future pick. I think could be really really it's a
higher yeah, yeah, second pick. Let's see who is available
here before we do anything. And Colston Loveland tight end
at of Michigan, Nick em Uari safety out of South Carolina,
Tyler Booker the guard from Alabama. G Hud Campbell, linebacker
(01:33):
from Alabama, Josh Simmons offensive tackle Ohio State, Walter Nolan
defensive tackle, Miss grays Abel offensive lineman from North Dakota State,
Nick Scourton, ed rusher from Texas A and m at
Mecca BUCA wide receiver Ohio State. Jackson Dart will miss
the quarterback. Maybe that's a Saints target. Kenneth Grant is
(01:57):
still there. It looks like.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Did you go yeah, Derek Harmon went at twelve to
the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Okay, Well, Nolan and Grant are appealing, but it might
be fun to build one from forty. I think.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
From a Steeler perspective, I just have a feeling they've
got Harmon is their number one guy of.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
The He seems to be gaining steam just amongst the
mockers and insiders.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Start looking at the again. The measurables, the motor runs hot.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Yeah, yeah, I would say there's fewer question marks with
him than the other two. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
I think if he is available at twenty one, yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
They just do it. I think they just do it.
I understand it. Let's straight back, let's do something fun. Okay,
let's look way to forty.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Forty seventy one and next year's two for the Saints.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Next year's two is valuable to me. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Now the question then becomes, if we get next year's
two from the Saints, try to move up from forty
to get to get back up.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
I'd consider moving the Steelers too. I'm hold on to
the Saints. That's what I'm saying. Maybe trade the Steelers.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Two because I'm gonna guess that that my own two
is going to be later than what the Saints two
is going to be.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Maybe I'll take that risk. I mean, maybe let the
first round go by and see it's an old onman
Grant still there at thirty three. That would be my Yeah,
maybe you could even move you're the Steelers third and
next year second and not move off forty you know.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Yeah, something along us right, Yeah, all right, I'll accept
that one.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Yeah, Okay, maybe let the draft go by ten picks
or whatever.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
All right, we're at the end of the first round here,
the Eagles are up at thirty two. Grant is still there.
And yeah, Grant is still there, Jaylen Milroe also there,
Amari and Hampton also there.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Wow, do you want to let it go a few more?
I'd be happy with any of those, but I'd also
be pretty eager.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
To Okay, we're thirty six. The Bills traded back. Hampton
went to thirty at thirty two.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
To the Eagles. I don't see that.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
No, Jackson, Dark goes to the Browns, White Millum to
the Giants, Landon Jackson to the Titans. The Bills are up,
they must trade it back.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Huh.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Yeah, Do we want to make a offer here to
try to get back up?
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Would Grant be your target?
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Well, here's what's a villa g Ond Campbell, Igbuka, Luther Burden,
Jaln Milroe, Kenneth Grant. Those are the top five guys available.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
I was going to ask you this woe we made
the trade, would you be comfortable with Milroe at forty?
I think when the planet knows, I would.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
If I get somebody else, If I'm able to get
back up here and do some.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
I'd be super comfortable if I had to dtackle in
the bag, But if it was my first pick, I
still would be. But I'd feel a lot more better
if it was Grant. Then we didn't have to move
forty and got mill Row. I'm gonna get the bills
on the phone. Okay, Okay, let's offer them this year's
third and seventy one. That's that's the one we got.
(05:11):
That's one of the extra picks. Were governing the Saints
seventy one and maybe next year's three or two. I
have no problem moving the Steelers two. I'm keeping that
Saints due that might be thirty three.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Okay, they didn't accept the first offer.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Would you give them seventy one and eighty three? I
would think I would.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Let's see here, I'm gonna go seventy one eighty three
in next year's three.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Three threes for an early early two three threes for Grant.
Yeah they didn't want. Now, maybe let it a couple
of picks go off. They might take Grant. I think
they could.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Yeah, Okay, they did not. They took a Buka.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Yeah that makes sense for them too.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Okay, So now we're up at forty. Pick thirty nine
is coming up. Kenneth Grant is still there. Do we
think the Bears might take Kenneth Grant.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Slight chance? Do you want to let it ride? Well,
we picked him one one pick.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
We have one more pick before we pick. That's all right,
here's what's g odd Campbell, Luther Burd and Kenneth Grant.
Josh Connerley is there. Milroe went to the Giants. They
traded up to go get Milroe.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Let's roll the dice. Okay, he gets to forty. They
took Prince Hugh Good. Okay, so we get Grant at forty.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
We're just going to read I got offers here, but
we're rejecting him because we're taking Kenneth Grant.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
I mean I consider him a twenty one. Right, Yeah,
we get that extra two for next year and basically
get our same guy.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
The next question and becomes do we want is there
somebody that we want to trade up to go get it?
We got seventy one and eighty three coming up to
move up to this point. We're gonna give up one
of those two picks, but we're gonna and probably something
next year, maybe a third to come up.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
I don't know who that guy would be. I mean, frankly,
i'd consider trading up for Shock.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Well here, so you got Trevon Henderson, Caleb Johnson, Quin
Shawn Judkins, all still available at the quarterback position. You
get Shuck and then Howard Hewers, Gabriel Leonard McCord.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Yeah, yeah, I'd consider Henderson or Shock, but maybe let
a roll five to ten picks, see if either's still
hanging there.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
We can there's three three backs still available. Shock might
make it to one of our picks because all the
teams that needed quarterbacks have taken quarterbacks and four quarterbacks gone.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't I think Leila Ryde, and
see what happens with those two. We're gonna Takenneth Grant here.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Yes, yes, yes, I'll pause it in a minute once
we get to the fifty. Okay, we're into the fifties, and.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
NURSERYE.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Higgins, Zerie Thomas, Maxwell Harriston, Jonas Savania, Trey Amos, Tate,
Ratleige mccubba, Luther Burden, Emery Jones, Mason Taylor, Benjamin Morrison
have all gone. All the running backs are there at
fifty three with Tampa Bay's pickup and.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
It was Henderson, Johnson and Judkins. Yes, I think you
take Henderson right, and we trade up for him yesterday
later we roll the dice. We got to pick in
eighteen more picks that all three of.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Those guys, I guess there's a chance aren't going to
be gone? Or do I wait and see as soon
as one of them goes, then we make our move.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
And you're what if we take Shuck now I assume
he's still there? Is he?
Speaker 3 (08:41):
I would I'd be willing to wait on a quarterback
at this point. I mean, because again, four teams have
filled their quarterback needs in the like, are they going
to somebody else gonna jump in there and take him
just because yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Yeah, I don't know. So what are you suggesting not
making this pick? Now? We're on the clock, right, we
got this? No?
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Oh, I'm saying, do we trade up to fifty three
with three of them on the board? We got another pick?
Our next pick is in eighteen picks.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Okay, okay, I would not trade up with three backs
that You're still happy out.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
There now as soon as I see one go, But
then maybe I'm gonna pause again.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
And see where.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
And they're still on the board, or pick fifty nine.
We're going into round three, they're all still on the board. Great,
we're picked sixty five and we have pick seventy one,
so three would need to go. In the next six picks.
We're probably gonna we're gonna get one of those guys,
more than likely. Okay, one just went, Judkins goes to
(09:42):
the Bears. Fine, we picked now Jacksonville's ahead of us,
and then we pick Henderson and Johnson are still on
the board. We're gonna get one of those two guys.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
Okay, they got take Henderson.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
Henderson over Johnson. That's an interesting They're very different. They're
very different. Johnson is a good zone runner.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Oh, he would fit really well.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Henderson gives you more in the passing game, to be sure,
more big playability, more big playability.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
I do like the size different, you know.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
Yeah, all right, we'll take Henderson. Yeah, okay, we got
another pick coming up in eighty three and we are
on the clock.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
I'd be highly interested in, Shuck. I'd be interested in
what the linemen are still out there too, Chuck.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Is there defensive line you're looking at Alfred Collins, Omar
Shamar Turner, Josh Farmer, c J. West, Jordan Phillips, Jamari Calwell,
jj Pegeese, all the those tackle types.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
We did take Grant though, Yeah, we took Grant, and
I don't mind that Collins and Grant are sort of redundant.
I think they can move up and down the line
of scrimmage. Who's best available or some cornerback?
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Dorian Strong is there, Zia Alexander, Kobe Bryant, Jordan Hancock,
Jacob Parris, Quincy Riley best available as Alfred Collins's. Harold
Fannon is still there, Tyler Shuck still there, Omar Norman Lott,
Schamar Turner to defensive tackle from Texas A and n
Latham Ransom safety from Ohio State. Cameron Williams, would.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
You have any problem going like Grant and Caldwell or
Grant in Phillips if you waited around, like if we
did shock here, do a D tackle next round? They
seem like they'll be nosier, But there might be there
might be one of those guys that has some the
A and M Goude might be there or whatever. Yeah,
(11:44):
I would vote for shock here. There's still a lot
of D tackle problem taking shock here y, Yeah, eighty
three Tyler Shuck. Okay, there's still a lot of D
tackle talent on the board.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Yeah, and we got we didn't trade our fourth pick, right,
we did the fourth round. Okay, so we're up at
one twenty three. The top player available is Josh Farmer.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Great. I wouldn't have any qualms with that at all.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Also available at the defensive tackle or Jordan Phillips, Jamury Caldwell,
JJ Pageese, Ralegh Mills from Notre Dame, Elijah Roberts from SMU.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
I don't think Farmers only a nose either.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Yeah, Elijah Roberts does have I mean he is has
the classic size.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
I know. I just think Farmer is a better prospect.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
And n s peebles, Ty Robinson, Cam Jackson, Timsmith. I
mean his nose tackles.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Galore a lot. We could probably even still wait, Yeah,
who's best available regardless Farmer?
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Will Howard, Logan Brown offensive tackle out of Texas or Kansas.
I should say Ronde Gadson, the tight end out of Syracuse,
Jaden Reid the safety out of Penn State, Damian Martinez.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Running back from Miami. We took Anderson, though.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Dante Thornton, wide receiver from Tennessee quinn Ewers. Jordan Phillips,
defensive tackle from Maryland, Jackson Slater the guard from UH State.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
We've already addressed. Yeah, it's not like there's a great
corner wide out jumping out at Anthony Belton? Is there?
Speaker 3 (13:07):
The offensive tackle from n State, Jaylen Travis, the offensive
tackle from Iowa State. I would vote for save On
Jones is there? Would you be willing to take a
shot at Savion Jones there?
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Not over Farmer. I would vote for Farmer or Belton.
I think Belton is pretty good value to still be there.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
I think he is too. Yeah, I think I don't
think he should still be there.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Right, I mean he might be your left guard next year. Yeah.
I think that's a good chance he might be your
left guard. Yeah, real, real good chance. All right, Anthony Belton?
Yeah I like that a lot actually, especially with all
the D tackles that are still out there.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Yeah, all right, we are up again here.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Now did we trade the fifth rounder of the Saints no,
our last Yeah, we got two picks left this one
in Okay, so it doesn't have to be a D tackle.
But I bet there's something out there.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
You're looking at JJ Bageese, Raleigh Mills from Notre Dame,
Elijah Roberts from s MU let's see you just defensive tackles, uh,
Simmon Barrow from Miami and Nias Peebles from Virginia, tech
Ty Robinson from Nebraska.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
Take Robinson.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
Robinson versus Roberts is I think it's got to be
Roberts or Robinson.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
One of the two. I'm cool with either. They're both
very different than Grant.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
Roberts is long, like he's not longer, longer, he's but
he's got he's got the arm length and everybody.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Get more upside. Yeah, if we're developing and you know,
is there any corner receiver that just too good to
be true type of cornerback?
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Jabar Mohammad from Oregon, Upton Stout from Western Kentucky, Justin
Waye Wally from Minnesota, Jalen Smith from USC.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
I like both those guys.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
One of those guys might be available, though, when we
take Dalen Brants off from Delane is so there's there's
a good group of corners there.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Are there are?
Speaker 3 (15:04):
How about wide out that's gonna be picked over? I'm
sure Jaylen Lane from Virginia Tech. Nick Nash, I like
Lane from San Jose State, Isaiah Bond from Texas, Ricky
White from U N l V.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
I think one of those d linemen. Who do you prefer?
Smu or.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Let's take Roberts. We have taken him. Everybody knows my
love for sure for Roberts. We can't take him every
draft for Yeah, Robinson and Roberts was in for a visit.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
So yeah, yeah, there's definitely interesting.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
Yeah, all right we're here again. At five, there were corners.
Jabar Mohammad still there, Upton Stout still there, Justin Wally
still there. I think you take Justin Wally.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Yeah. I think that's a strong boomn good. I like
how it was worked out. Now that also second round pick.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Nobody took Grant, which was.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Well, that worked out, but we also monitored it as
we did go into we did we didn't. We were
ready to jump if we had to.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
Yeah, so we got at the forty second round pick, yeah,
all right, At forty we got Kenneth Grant, defensive tackle
from Michigan. At seventy one, we got Trevon Henderson, running
back from Ohio State. I don't know if there's any chance.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Of that happened. I don't either, but that's a heck
of a good start. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
At eighty three we got Tyler Schuck, quarterback from Louisville.
One twenty three was Anthony Belton. Great, he can be
maybe our swing guy this year.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Yeah, just maybe cross train him a little bit.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
A little bit offensive tackle from NC State. One fifty
six was Elijah Roberts, defensive tackle from SMU. One eight
five was Justin Walley, cornerback from Minnesota, And we got
the Saints twenty twenty six second round.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Pick loaded with next year picks. Well, we didn't give
anything up from next year either, no loaded, So maybe
Shuck does something good, maybe he doesn't, But you have
all kinds of ammo to go get a quarterback next
year if you want. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
I mean, if if we hadn't made the trade and
we came out of this draft.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
With that, I don't think we would have got Henderson. Well,
we went and got right and minus Henderson right the
exact same deal, but we got the Saint secon round
pick and Henderson right right, and we would have had
a seventh rounder. Yeah, I think I'd rather have Henderson
the stun pick whoever we do, whatever jag we got
in this set, I think so. Yeah, again, you never
know how a draft is going to work. Now, and
(17:27):
the only unbelievable thing to me or close to is
Henderson lasting that long. Yeah, I mean, but all the
backs did. But they all did right, Like nobody picked.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
I could kind of see that happening this year.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
How many teams truly need a back? I understand its
rich Cross.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
Somebody asked that on the message board. Could you see
the could you see the backs kind of falling after
the first four or five go because there's everybody looks
at and said, there's so many.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
There's so many.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
There's like thirty draftable running backs in this in this draft,
there's thirty guys. This isn't me saying this, This is
all I know talking. Yeah, thirty guys with draftable grades.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Well they aren't.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
There aren't going to be needs for thirty teams for.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Thirty you know, defensive ends and you know stuff that
are harder to find. Yeah, maybe we would go through
it sometime between now and the draft, Like, who how
many teams top two or three needs is a running back?
There are many?
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Yeah, Now, everybody could use one. You're gonna take one
and stash one. But again there's thirty.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
I mean I think most teams will probably draft one. Yeah,
but most are gonna be on day three.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
But if I've only got say four picks going into
this draft, am I going to use one on a
running back?
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Minnesota is probably not? Probably not right. Yeah, yeah, they
could use one, but are they going to do that?
Probably not? Probably not right. I mean, Atlanta doesn't have
a lot of picks.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
They're not taking running back anyways, Robinson and Lgai, right, right, right.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
We could go through all the teams. There's a lot
of teams that probably won't. Yeah, so interesting. Yeah, let's
get to a break. He is the Matt Williamson. I
am Dale Lallie.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
You're listening to the Drive here on the Steelers Audio Network,
and of course you can hear the Drive every Monday
through Friday right here on these very airways. You can
also download the Steelers mobile app and listen to the
show there, or you can watch along on YouTube. Give
us a thumbs up on there, leave us your comments,
tell us how stupid we are for making this draft.
(19:13):
The people do that, by the way, everybody thinks and
maybe it's just they're new to the show. I can't
believe you guys made that pick. Why would you do that?
Like we explain it first of all, why were.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
We do talk through? And it's not just like take them.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
Yeah, we don't, just so watch the show. And also
this is probably today is probably about the hundredth mock.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Draft that they run, maybe four hundredth.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
And the reason we do this is they run through
these different scenarios. Yeah, like this is what question.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Early on it was getting a noble I mean I
didn't know the fifth, sixth, seventh rounders. When we start
doing you know, now it's like, okay, well you can
get them in this neighborhood and it's your build, right.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
It's why we do these things. We learn the players,
help you learn the players and see where these guys
are going at at least according to these mock drafts.
That's why we use different mock draft simulators every time
as well.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
So I was listening to the Tom mcshay's most recent
podcast and they were going through just scenarios, first two
picks for every team. Would you rather go running back
now and tight end later or tight end now and
running back later. And when you do it for every team,
it's usually a pretty clear answer. Which direction's bet right,
you know? Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Anyways, we're gonna get to a break when we come back.
It is Twitter Thursday or ex Twitter Thursdays, and the
questions are rolling in. We'll get to those right after this.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
At least.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
He's the Drive with Dale Lolly and Matt Williamson on
your twenty four to seven home of the Black and
Gold Steelers Nation Radio.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
Welcome back, guy, am Dale Lolly. He is the Matt
Williamson and it is a Thursday. That means it is
the x Twitter Thursday.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
Yeah, that's good.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
I remember to send out the questions or the call
for questions today. First one here is from Mike Foster,
longtime listener. I read somewhere that on or after April
twenty eighth, free agents signed by teams are no longer
count against compensatory pick formula.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Is this true? Yes? It is after the draft the draft.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Yeah yeah, yeah, as soon as the draft is over,
the compensatory formula.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Is out the window. That doesn't matter one bit.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
Yeap, guys haven't been signed at that point then they're
just free.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
And I think this, but it doesn't go without saying,
but I like to reiterated Rogers doesn't count. Doesn't count.
I mean because he was cut.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
I don't know where that rumors started at. But somebody
doesn't know what they're talking about.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
I've heard a lot of people, but I mean it's
a pretty deep rule. I mean, if you're a casual fan,
you wouldn't know the difference than that. I'm sure.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
Is there anyone out there the Steelers should look at
on that date?
Speaker 2 (21:45):
Question mark? Nick Chubb?
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Question mark I'm not in on Chubb at all.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
I would have interest in Dobbin's Chubb or Gus Edwards
if you didn't take a back until like the fifth round.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
No, the only one of those guys I would even
be slightly interested in would be Dobbins.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Dobbins is my Favoriteedwards I.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Could again, I know my forty time. You don't think
I can get under six seconds? I'll bet I could
still be Sedwards in a race.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
I hear you, but it's slow. The reason I brought
him up, though, is if they went with Sampson or
what you're looking for a bigger back tackle? Yeah, I
get goal line back might not even make the team. Yeah,
I mean the contractor you get those guys for especially.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Yet I understand what you're saying, and you know, I
jest about Gus Edwards. This draft is so I would
be shocked if they came out of this draft without
another running back.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
I would too. I think they'll draft on no matter what.
But if it's maybe.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
Two and they might get one as an undrafted free
agent that you really like.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
That's the other thing I was gonna say is I
would spend a little extra for the undrafted free agent,
even if you took Hampton in the first round. You know,
just go get someone that's an NFL player an extra
draft pick and let him be your return guy and whatever.
If you'll find a way to use them war it
might not be on the team next year, you know,
Jedrick Wills, I guess maybe. I mean, if we went
through a deep free agent list post draft, which I
(23:07):
bet we will.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
We will, you know who's still there two or three
names of it, because it'll be something. There'll be some
spots that they don't fill in the draft, and that's
when you would start looking at.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
Yeah, those guys they've signed, some veteran edges that would
have maybe you could do that. That's better than Moon,
you know, but he'd have to have some kind of
special teams quality. Yeah, you know.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
Paul asked, we all like the idea of trading back
a few spots in the first round, but who is
your list of players you would absolutely not trade away from? Well, again,
it wouldn't think it wouldn't be a list of players
like single players that I wouldn't trade away from. But
if all three defense, if two of the three defensive
tackles are.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
Gone, it'd be hard to a hard Yeah, moving back. Yeah,
that's the one scenario. I don't think there's a name
like Tyler Warren's there. I think I would just be like,
who wants to trade for Tyler Warreck? Right? You know
what I mean? Maybe you can get more out of it, right, Yeah, yep? Paul.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Also, as it sounds like Aaron Rodgers won't have a
decision before the draft, does that impact how aggressively the
Steelers pursue a quarterback in the draft this year?
Speaker 2 (24:14):
I don't believe it does. I don't believe it does
either because I have a feeling if Rogers never becomes
a Steeler, excuse me, Kirk Cousins will or even Derek Carr,
you know, like, I bet they will have a I'm
sure they have a contingency plan.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
There's a contingency plan there, and wouldn't change your draft draft. No,
you either like the quarterbacks in this draft or you don't.
I don't think you know, whether you have a quarterback
or not changes that process at all.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Right, because all those guys would be one year Reynolds
slash Old you know.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Yeah, in a deeper class with a massive second tier
after the blue Chips. It seems most teams would like
to trade down. Could that mean a trade up is
discounted relative to previous years, hurting the Steelers' potential return
if they trade back from twenty one, or maybe help
them in the second or third round.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Yeah, I think that's crazy.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
Yeah, I think that's that's a fair point. And I
think it also depends on how far up you're coming
up to go and what you're coming up to get. Like,
if one of those quarterbacks is still there at twenty
one and somebody's on the phone, there's a good chance,
you know, you know who the quarterback needy teams are.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Yeah. I did a mail bag on my DK podcast
yesterday and There were a lot of questions of if
the Browns or Giants want to get from what thirty
four or whatever to twenty one, what kind of hall
could you get obviously for a quarterback, And I said, well,
I'm going to kind of hold their feet to the fire.
But in this the answer this question.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
I want this year's too, I want next year's too.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
Yeah, yeah, that's basically what I said. You know, maybe
even and more or third this year too, I want Yeah,
I want some. I want a little sweetener in the
back end this year. Yeah, that's basically what I said, Like,
give me thirty four, next year's two, and hopefully your third,
and maybe I'll give you a fifth. Yeah, you know,
something like that is FU for this question. If it's
(26:02):
the Bills or the Chiefs and they're the other ones
on the phone, you might not get as much as
you think, you know, just because there's not gonna be
a ton of teams banging down your door to get there. Yeah,
it might be a good year to trade up if
you're the Bills are Chiefs? Right?
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Steve Warrior fifty five asked, are you tired of this whole?
Aaron Rodgers saga, what would you do for a quarterback
if if you both ran the team. I'm not tired
of the Aaron Rodgers saga because I haven't fretted over
it at all. There was a time when when the
first when this all this thing started, I'm like, yeah,
they need to give him a deadline, all this stuff.
But then after, you know, being at the owners meetings,
(26:40):
no one seems to be fre nobody seems to be
too frazzled about it. Yeah, you know, I mean to
pull back the curtain. This time of year, there's not
a lot of news in the league, and we've talked
to draft to death and we've mocked to death. So
coming up with five days two hours a day of
content isn't easy right this minute. But we're not like
talking about Aaron Rodgers every minute, you know, we're not
(27:02):
fretting about it or you know, like it's it's out there.
Everyone kind of knows at this point. And today there
was a little bit of news, but not shattering, nothing
earth shattering. And again I still think it happens, but
it's going to happen at some point. And again, once
he's in, he has to be, he has to be in,
can't be Yeah, Yeah, it can't be. Okay, I'm gonna play,
(27:23):
but I'm gonna miss three quarters of O T A
S because I have to go to Tokyo.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Yeah, yeah, you know there's a I mean it's different.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
If cherry blossom this this year that's never been seen before.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
I mean, it's different if there's a family emergency.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Right, that's different stuff and stuff happens.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
With every one of these guys and everyone, right.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
Marco A Romero Navarro says, just when they recognized the
great work you have done of draft preparation, well we
appreciate that. Yeah, we've been hopefully also prepared all of
our listeners for this year's draft A great.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
Deal, I would say, as much as any year we've
hit it hard. Uh.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Steel Warrior also at he has a bunch of questions
on here. What do you think of Roger's appearance on
the pet Show and what it means for the Steelers?
Just winding Yeah yeah. He also asks what's favorite draft prospect?
Do you hope the Steelers get.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Some? We could come up with a lot, Yeah, Shuck
and Milroe or my quarterbacks. I kind of have a
little soft spot for Rourke too. I don't know how
that would work. Martinez is one of my favorite running
back fits, but I don't think he was one of
the guys in on a visit and they had a
lot there's some blocking tight ends. I mean, I'm not
(28:39):
trying to go like just first round picks. I'm just like, oh,
that would be fun. I get a lot of heat
for well, you take Charles Grant all the time. Yeah, yeah,
right there and he's good. He's there and he's good.
And if you would want to senior boy, I think
he might have been a first round pick. You know,
thee Liman galore. I think we've talked that to death. Yeah,
(28:59):
there's a handful of mid to late round corners. I'm
warming up to the Minnesota dude probably the top of
the list. Some of those type of guys. I guess
if you listened, you've heard, you know.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
Yeah, I mean we've talked about these guys and everybody
knows my Robinson.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Yeah, great one that you know. There's some mid round receivers.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
I have an eye on Williams from from Washington State.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Yeah, that's a good one, good one that you know.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
If you get those guys, great.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
But we could put a long list together. We'll probably
do a whole show on it.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
Yeah, we usually end up taking those guys in our
mock drafts, you know.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Uh r J.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Poyer asks, pretty unlikely scenario. But how would you guys
feel about a major trade down to the forties.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Well, we just did this. That's actually what would a
trade package look like for you?
Speaker 3 (29:43):
Also, could you guys try to do a mock draft
that would simulate something like this?
Speaker 2 (29:47):
Well? Rjow luck would have it. We did it today.
Didn't read that question before we do it, but just
rewind five minutes on that. There you go.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
Scott Pain asked how can the Steelers get hung up
over one player two years in a row? Why not
set a deadline? Who the player they got hung up
on last year?
Speaker 2 (30:06):
I assume I might Russell Wilson. But they didn't get hung.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
Up on them, No, not at all. They signed them
like the first day of a free agency. I'm not
I'm not understanding the who they got hung up on
last year.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Maybe Fields. I guess that lingered for a little bit.
There was rumors, but there were rumors, but that doesn't
mean that was a trade.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
They actually waited it out the right way because initially
the Bears were asking for we need to get a
two and gotta be a three, and the end up
training for six.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Like, I don't understand the question. Who waited on? Yeah? Uh?
Speaker 3 (30:42):
May Joyner asked they once moved off stars like Fanica
and Joey Porter before the decline. Now it looks like
they're holding on the cam and walk deep into their thirties.
Isn't it smarter to maximize value a year early rather
than a year late. Are they value valuing nostalgia too much?
Speaker 2 (30:59):
No, he knows how well cam Hey were played last year.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Fanico was a free agent buzzy Okay, he left him
free agency to the Jets right for the Jake money
at the time.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
Porter was kind of a cap casualty because they looked
at it and go, well, we have this James Harrison
guy waiting in the wings here and we need you.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
We're still playing at a real high level. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
He had sixteen sacks and next year I believe with
the with the Miami Dolphins. Yeah, but it came down
to a cap situation and they said, you know, the
cap at that point from like two thousand and five
to twelve or thirteen really didn't go up.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
A whole bunch.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
It was going up like two or three million dollars
a year.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
So it was getting tight.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
It was getting tight, and a couple of those years
it actually went down with the lockout year and all
that kind of stuff. So they looked at it and said, okay.
Mike Tomlin came in in seven and the first thing
he did, his first move.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Was to release Joey Porter. That was their first big
movie that year.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
But it was it was a cost cutting move. They
needed to clear some cap space. They had James Harrison
waiting in Wings, and they said, well, we're going to
play this guy who was cheap, who was cheap and
good as it turned out, and moved on from Joey Porter.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Okay, that's like Hardgrave or you know. And that was
just go.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
But they had straight finances. This is a different situation
because they have the cap space to sign these guys.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
That's the thing. They don't have a super expensive quarterback.
I mean, their their cap situation is very, very friendly.
Omar has done a tremendous job with that. As a
rule of thumb, not even put a names to it,
though I definitely think it's good business to move off
a guy a year early than a year late, of course.
I mean, like, yeah, Belichick's really known for that. I mean,
(32:38):
especially if you could turn him into something. Sure, but
I'm pretty glad they didn't do that with Cam Hayward
a year ago. Yeah. Imagine if you didn't have this
past season where they had him last year, you may
be picking six in the draft or something, you.
Speaker 3 (32:49):
Know, if you didn't have their record without TJ.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
Watt.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
And first of all, it looks like they're holding on
the Wat deep into their thirties.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
He just turned three. Yeah, he's not deep.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
In his third a right, Yeah, you know, and we
don't nobody knows a what Watt's asking for and b
how long with a term of a deal that's going
to be.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
And again it's probably going to be a similar percentage
of the cap of what he's making now.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
Yeah, So I don't have a problem with that at all.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
If there was a different instance. But I don't think
either one of those fit the bill of your hanging
on too long.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
No or nostalgia, you know, right, I mean, they moved
on from Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger still wanted to play, and
they said now we're.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
We're good at the end of day.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
Yeah, so you know they've not like they're holding on
to some of these guys too long.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
Certainly not in those two cases.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
Derek Manton asked, Love the Show, what is you and
Matt's best game you have ever worked?
Speaker 2 (33:44):
I don't work games. I'm at home. I've been in
preseason games on there. But yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
Figured it out. Oh, during the season this year, we
were in the press box somewhere I can't remember where
this year, and the press box announcer came on and said,
I want to you know, we all want to recognize
that this is so and So's five hundredth career game
covering the team.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Oh wow.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
So I sat down, like, I wonder how many games?
I wonder where I'm at? So I started, I sat
down and started figuring it out. I was at like
seven hundred and something. Wow, And I'm like.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Do you ever remember missing one? Oh? I missed.
Speaker 3 (34:18):
I think I missed the final game of the nineteen
ninety three season because the Steelers had already wrapped everything up.
They were going to Green Bay and my boss said, well,
you don't need to go to that one because they're
playing for anything.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
If it was like personal reasons or.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
So I didn't go to that one.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
I didn't go to it was.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
A game I'm trying. Oh, the hurricane game in New
York with travel like travel was impossible, same thing, I
didn't go.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
It was better. I bet you watched both of those
watch and wrote something on them, so you covered them.
You might not have been there. Yeah, right way.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
I didn't actually go to Ben Roethlisberger's first start in Miami.
Same reason. If you remember there was a hurricane.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
Was that the ridiculous weather game?
Speaker 3 (35:09):
Yeah, there was a hur There was a hurricane going
coming into Miami. And my boss said, not, I can't,
we can't. I'm not gonna. I'm not going to tell
you to fly into a hurricane. Yea, and be I
don't know when when would you get back? Yeah, So
I didn't go. And I argue, I'm like, look, it's
the rookie quarterbacks first career start. I should probably be there.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
He said, no, all right, I guess you've never missed
a home game, though I have.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
I missed one during COVID was weird. Both of my
kids that were at home had COVID. They probably told
you and I had to stay home. My wife had
to stay home from work. Neither one of we got
tested regularly throughout the process. Neither one of us ever
tested positive for COVID, but we had to stay away
for I had to stay away for a week. She
(35:53):
had to stay because she works in the medical field.
I had to stay away from work for two weeks.
Neither one of us ever we had dinner with our
kids everything. If I'm going to be off them as
we'll get this out of the way and get COVID. Yeah, yeah,
never happened. So you maybe missed a handful. I can't
remember who they played that game, but I watched it
on TV and I'm like.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
All right, I should be there. I feel fine, and yeah,
yeah I didn't like it. I'm sure it's still pretty
strong record thirty three years. Yeah, but I guess figuring
out the math wasn't that hard to get the seven.
It was not. No.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
Matt Sable asked, do you think Fields and Milrow are
similar in draft outlook Fields when eleventh was seen with
higher upside or more of a sure thing than mil
Roe at the time. Well, yeah, Fields was much better.
He was a much more well, I don't want to say,
refined passer. But it was much easier for Fields at
(36:44):
Ohio State because he had I mean, right Wilson.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
And I know mill Rods from Bama, but they had
a lot of defections and a new staff too. It
was not the typical Bama team. Yeah, I mean I
think Field was a better passor at the same he was.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
But Fields was also working with like five NFL wide receivers.
Oh yeah, yeah, and a pro ready offense.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
Well. I not that they weren't at Bama, sure, but
bam Mdama's got a young stud receiver too. I mean
it's not like it's bad. Yeah, the coupver doesn't bear.
But I mean there's a lot of similarities I.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
Think, I do think there are. I think I think
Milroe is a better runner.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
I do too, and that's saying a lot. Yeah. Field
didn't run as much at Ohio State as people think. No, No,
he was more of a pocket. He had his receiver.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
Yeah he did it right, Yeah, but he was just
kind of a see it, throw it kind of thing.
But he threw the ball well.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
Yes, yeah, his I'm sure I would say he was
more accurate. He had to have a probably better completion.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
There are things that Milroe has to work on oh yeah,
his intermediate passing and his short passing or two of those.
He's a great deep passer, great deep passer, but he
needs to work on his touch, and some of that's
marrying up his footwork with his arm. It's a problem
for a lot of running quarterback.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
The conversation the other day about it too, we were
just talking about Milroe and my co host said, boy
a senior bol really worried me, And I'm like, yeah,
it was pretty rough, you know, and at that point too,
you're hearing those for all of them though, it was rough,
all of that, and the small hand thing came out
then by the way, his hands are bigger than wards. Yeah,
words only nine exactly. He's a little bit over. But
(38:16):
I also think at that point he was working with
Jordan Palmer in the midst of changing his mechanics too,
you know, like step one of it. So it's not
going to look great, but the mechanics need to change. Yeah,
but he started it.
Speaker 3 (38:28):
Then, that's not when he gets the came right, You've
already started that process, right.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
I'm sure he told teams that.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
Nobody's asking Jylen Milroe as justin Fields was asked to
come in and start right away exactly.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
That's the beauty of it. I mean, you might come
in and run the football for you five times a game.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
Or and you're getting a much better value taking John
Wilrow in this second or early third round or wherever
he goes, as opposed to taking Justin Field's eleventh exactly
exactly any of the other quarterbacks that have gone, the
running quarterbacks that have gone early in drafts.
Speaker 2 (38:58):
It's like, and I believe mill Rose upside today is
equal to fields is coming out of Ohio State. Yeah.
I mean we know a lot more about Fields too,
but they both have the same ceiling.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
Mel Asks is He's three questions here? Is it comfortable
to say that it's not a question of if TJ
will get a contract extension, but when yes, I'm very
comfortable saying that, what's the most glaring hole on the
Steelers roster other than quarterback? I think it's easy. It's
defensive tackle easily. It might be the second biggest hole. Yeah,
(39:33):
I think it's running back or DT two is the
next biggest?
Speaker 2 (39:36):
Yeah? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (39:37):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
And then three best non chain pizzeria around Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
Mm, funny you asked. My daughter and her boyfriend have
been talking about going to Beatos on Banksville Road forever
and they went yesterday and brought me home a bunch
of guts. Is that bad?
Speaker 3 (39:56):
Ohs or Beatles b e t o Oh.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
It's been there, Mike, parents dated there. I mean it's
a South Hills.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
I think my friend worked there in college.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
Okay, yeah, I mean it is a total change up
that you buy it by the cut in they're square.
They put the cheese and toppings on after it comes
out of the There's a.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
Place like that in Washington as well, and everybody swears
by it in Washington.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
It's good. Yeah, yeah, but it's kind of legendary. Yeah,
I mean it's again like my parents dated there. I mean,
it's been a long time, but my whole life. I'm
a big fan. I wouldn'tay it's my favorite, but it's
a great change up and I was happy to get yesterday.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
I'm a big fan of Grande Italian if you tried that,
And it's like a Donaldson's Crossroads. They used to have
an Anseler a satellite one in Washington way back when
the original one I believe was is up there and
then they had another one. They had a Grande's Junior
at in this and they closed out and recently, but
(40:50):
the original Grande's in the Oka is pretty good.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
I wouldn't know North Hills. I mean, I would only
know South Hills, real close to there. Harry's Pizza is
a big favorite of they don't deliver, and Fjories Isories
is big. Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (41:04):
So let's get to a break, we'll come back. We'll
finish up our questions here as we go through our
Twitter questions. He is the Matt Williamson. I am Dale Lollie.
You're listening to the Drive here on the Steelers Audio Network.
Speaker 1 (41:19):
At least he's the Drive with Dale Lolly and Matt
Williamson on your twenty four to seven Home of the
Black and Gold cast in Steelers Nation.
Speaker 3 (41:28):
Radio, and welcome back. I am Dale Lolly. He is
the Matt Williamson. We're gonna roll through these final Twitter
questions here before we end the show today. We're gonna
do a little rapid fire. We've already answered a lot
of the Aaron Rodgers questions, so I'm gonna skip over
some of those. Yeah that Cody asks, is there a
fact where there is the fact that there are only
(41:49):
four to six superhero quarterbacks in any given year, a
secret the NFL wants to keep hidden. I think in
any idea very well, well, in any other year, there
can't be more than twenty percent of the league with
true franchise quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (42:02):
This is a much longer conversation we have time for.
But I think like Dak Prescott is a franchise quarterback,
he's on a superhero. Yeah, but I think there's twelve
to fifteen franchise maybe ten to twelve franchise quarterbacks. I
think there's four superheroes and maybe Jayden Daniels is the
next one. Maybe.
Speaker 3 (42:17):
Yeah. Terry Shipman says, I hope they don't. I hope
they don't buy what would I hope they don't, but
I should be. But what would you put the odds
on for a quarterback at twenty one and do you
think the odds are getting better? I would put the
odds at about ten to fifteen.
Speaker 2 (42:34):
Hours twenty percent max.
Speaker 3 (42:36):
Yeah, yeah, I'm pretty low in quarterback at twenty one, right,
maybe at twenty eight or yeah, you know different, Yeah,
not that high. No, And it doesn't matter with the
Rogers stuff. Dave Marcass, would you consider doing a drive
fantasy league with listeners.
Speaker 2 (42:52):
I'll be honest, I used to do. I did one
on my Peacock and Williamson show for two years in
a row, and there was no money involved, and I
really lost interest. In a hurry, I'm in too many
and the season gets too big. The problem is the
season is really busy. I forgot to put lineups in
and then I was just like, I give up, I'm done.
Speaker 3 (43:12):
Weber eighty eight says was reading the chat with Jerry
Doulk had yesterday in to PG. He had some of
some different opinions on draft strategies for the Steelers than
you do. Do you read other writers Steeler draft chats?
Speaker 2 (43:23):
I do not. I don't, But that's funny. Brought that
up because for our draft coverage and the owners meeting
fit this bill a little bit too. I am very
excited to talk to non Loy analysts about their thoughts
on the draft. You know, Jerry and Max and all
those dudes too, that are really good at what they do.
They might have some insight, I know though of some insight,
(43:45):
but they'll also have just a different viewpoint, you know. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (43:48):
We talk to each other every day, right, right, right.
Here's a random one from Michael Edesso. Here's a random one.
Any late round fullbacks or h backs picked your interest.
Would love to have an actual fullback that can block,
maybe catch a ball or two. Uh, play special teams
like Derek Watt. Would love to replace Connor Heyward at
some point. Do you think they ever had interest in
(44:09):
you check when that was when they brought him in.
Speaker 2 (44:12):
Yeah, they did ring them in. I wasn't positive that happened.
You don't have to draft those guys. I don't have
to draft them, right, Yeah. Would you consider like Lumpkin,
the two hundred and seventy pounds center. The thing is
he ran like the moves?
Speaker 3 (44:26):
Yeah, he ran like a five to three not fast
enough to do that, if you know, if I'm going
to take Jackson Hawes and do that with yeah, yeah maybe.
Speaker 2 (44:33):
I mean they had a fullback in camp last year.
They didn't keep them, you know, yeah, so yeah, I mean.
Speaker 3 (44:37):
But you've been going to play great special teams.
Speaker 2 (44:39):
Oh that's his job, number one.
Speaker 3 (44:42):
Chris Maxwell says, greatest Steelers show, Well, thank you.
Speaker 2 (44:44):
Tomlin.
Speaker 3 (44:45):
Calling the defense is something he and Rooney denied, yet
some reports say that he called the defensive plays. Well,
that's not true. Can we finally get to the truth
of the story, please. The head coach has veto power.
I'm sure here's here's here, and he said, no, we
don't want to do that.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
Here.
Speaker 3 (45:01):
He doesn't call every defensive play.
Speaker 2 (45:04):
I'm sure it goes something like, and this might be
a good down to heat him up. Yeah, you know, yeah,
let's heat him up here. Let's do this.
Speaker 3 (45:10):
But he doesn't sit there and look at the play
sheet like Andy Reid calling the offensive play right right,
that doesn't happen, no.
Speaker 2 (45:16):
Exactly, which is good because that's time consuming and it's hard.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
Joe mccrusick says, what do you think that? That's a
Rogers question? Andrew asked, if gent falls the route to
the fifteen seventeen Rangers, you move up to take him
might only cost a fourth rounder, similar to what the
Steelers gave up for Roderick Jones a few years ago.
Speaker 2 (45:35):
It's appealing and it would make you really good. I
don't see him falling that far. I don't either. I
can't imagine getting past the Bears. Yeah, probably a moot point.
And I think the answer is no.
Speaker 3 (45:46):
Yeah. Rich Prun said he has two questions. Matter, is
there any preseason maintenance required in order to get the
Williamson dog roller up and run?
Speaker 2 (45:54):
Oh the hot dog roller. No, no maintenance at all.
It sits in the garage with a blanket over to
keep the dust lock. It. Just a quick wipe down,
plug it in. Dogs are rocking in five or ten minutes.
Speaker 3 (46:05):
So you're serving dirty dogs. Well, I think it's a
little clean.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
It doesn't need like chloroxters, you know, wipe down heavy, right.
Speaker 3 (46:13):
And his question for me is who has been more
exposed over the years, your listeners or your family to
the exhausted, exasperated LOLLI SI.
Speaker 2 (46:24):
There, it is.
Speaker 3 (46:28):
Probably probably the listeners. Yeah, probably the listeners, no doubt.
I don't do that too much to my family. My
wife would punch me in the face.
Speaker 2 (46:35):
Yeah, I might punch in the flu.
Speaker 3 (46:39):
That looks like all the Twitter questions that we get
to the end here. Yeah, I don't see any other
ones on there. We appreciate all of those for sure.
And uh, well, we'll be back again tomorrow Draft week.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
Oh no, wait, this is Friday. I was thinking I
was thinking we were gone for the weekend.
Speaker 3 (46:53):
No, we're back on well, technically it is kind of
draft week because now we're seven days out, so we're
going to be within seven days of the draft.
Speaker 2 (47:00):
Okay, good stuff.
Speaker 3 (47:02):
Absolutely a lot of fun. For my partner Matt Williamson,
for Justin Miller here on site running the Justin Miller
hotline and.
Speaker 2 (47:10):
The soundboard, and for.
Speaker 3 (47:12):
