Speaker 1 (00:03):
At least.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
He's the Drive with Dale Lolly and Matt Williamson on
your twenty four to seven home of the Black and
Gold Steelers Nation Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
And we are back. This is our number two of
the Drive here on the Steelers Audio Network. I am
Dale LOLLI he is the Matt Williamson. And we're doing
some ex Twitter questions here today. We got a ton
of them flooded. We were going to do a fantasy
football segment here, but because there are so many questions,

(00:37):
keep her rolling. Keep rolling with that fun too.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Not all super football related either, which is fine.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Bird Ball asks. Have the Steelers ever carried four running
backs on a roster going into the season? Could Cordero
Patterson be used more as a wide receiver this year
unless as a running back? Love the drive. Yes, they've
carried I thought so. They've carried four running backs multiple
times over the years.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Not three in a fullback either, right, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Four running There were times would be four running backs
and a fullback.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Yeah, okay in the day man say back.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Yeah, teams too, they're more run oriented, those guys.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
From what I remember, even like eighties nineties, it was
rare for a team to keep six receivers. Yeah, I
mean there wasn't as much, nearly as much eleven person Yeah,
Rocky and Franco were on the field together a high percentage.
I mean, so I don't think it's uncomm Now, it's uncommon,
but in recent and Steeler history over the decades, it's

(01:36):
not uncommon.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Not uncommon at all.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yeah, in terms of the cord Aero Patterson stuff. As
a wide receiver, here's a guy to keep an eye on.
In regards to that, they signed Max Hurlman out of
uh Notre Dame, Okay, and he listed as a receiver

(02:02):
undrafted guy. He's listed his running back number number thirty
four at the mini camp or training you know, the OTAs.
But they lined him up in the slot quite a bit. Really,
they used him as a weapon, and he's got some
of that ability to do those things.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
I think they and Arthur Smith have kind of looked
for that guy. You know, Patterson has made his career
out of that. You know, is the receiver, is he
running back?

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Is he neither? Is he both?

Speaker 3 (02:29):
You know, I think there is value to that. So
you think Hurlman or someone like him could get carries
and run receiver routes. Yeah, okay, I mean if he
makes a team, that's going to be a big reason
why or you know, or if they have a guy
like that in the future. Frankly, I don't know what
the story is with Patterson at the moment, to be

(02:51):
frank I thought months ago he'd probably be let go
just because of his contract situation. They haven't needed the money.
That hasn't happened. I don't know what is what the
plan is? There not a clue?

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Yeah, they still have that Again, a lot of times,
the Steelers don't make a move until they have to
make a movie.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Yeah. Yeah, and they haven't had to right And Frankly,
if they signed Watt in the next five minutes, that's
not They're not gonna need the cap space this year
to do that.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
He's an open caps yeah problem. Patterson does give them
a little different look in terms of what he brings
to the table as opposed to say, Kenneth game Will.
He's a much bigger body, much bigger body.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
You see him in person, you're kind of shocked, especially
if you only just kind of know his history, Like
if you go watch his highlight tape of University of Tennessee,
as a first round pick. It's unbelievably dynamics. One of
the best highlight tapes you'll ever see. Position was always
a question coming out, and he ran a weird routree there.
But when he became a Steeler and I saw him

(03:51):
in person, I didn't expect I knew it was big,
but I didn't expect him to be that big. I
mean he is a strapping fellaw.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Yeah, he's a big dude.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
So he's a lot different than gain Well just physically. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Ben Cohen asked, could you compare the two thousand and
three roster to the twenty twenty twenty twenty five roster
in terms of the nest What did Ben Landon compared
to the twenty twenty six quarterback?

Speaker 3 (04:22):
I don't know that You're so much better with this
kind of history than me too. Would you'd have to
refresh me?

Speaker 1 (04:26):
I know, it's like I'm going back to call up
to twenty. Yeah, the three roster now, so.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
I mean Bettis was in place, you had. Bettis was
a run first team it was you.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Also had on that offense ahead of what a true
fullback in Dankrider, Okay, Plexico burs Hines Ward were two
starting receivers.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
That's pretty good, right.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Jeremy Toman was your starting tight end. Your offensive line.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Was Randal l on that team as a third receiver.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Uh not yet, Okay, you had Fanica, Keedrick Vincent, Jeff
Harding's Kendall Simmons. Right tackle was Oliver Ross.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
So my impressions not great, but your interior, I would
say guard guard had to be as good as a
in the league. Yeah, tackles had to be at the
bottom of the bottom of.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Now, remember in three Fanica played a lot of left tackle,
not by design, but had to. Okay, you get the
best five on the field, Yeah, which.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
He probably still was better than their left tackles, but
then you're compromised at two spots. So this has been
true basically through Steeler history. But even then there was
a shortage in the league of true offensive tackles. Yeah,
and maybe not even a shortage as much as there
is now. But all the great ones go quick, you know,
like the Hall of Fame tackles of that era, Ogden,

(05:50):
Walter Jones, Bisselli Pace. They're all like top five picks
and they hardly ever busted. Well Seeos never picked in
the top five. You know, so you get Fanica or
Simmons in the first round because they're guards, right, and
you know the line was constructed different. You also were
a heavy interior run team from what I mean obviously
with Jerome, but I think if I'm sure the percentages

(06:12):
bear that out as well, it's a pretty good nest.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Pretty good nest.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
I mean you got three big time skill guys and
three big time linemen basically.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Yeah, you also had on that team, not just Bettest
and a defense obviously they had a defensive place too. Yeah,
you also had guys. Your other running backs were Amos Away,
Ron Haynes, we were both. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Yeah, Capable was a change of pace, dynamic guy there
for a while.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
You rather will Randa Well was on the three team. Okay,
so you had Ward.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
That had to be one of the best receiver rooms
in the league. Yeah, and one of the best running
back rooms in the league.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Now, the other guy is Lee May's Chris Doring. We're
just guys, yeah, but that's true. If you look pull
up any year, who's your fourth and fifth receiver. Yeah,
Marvel Smith was on that team, but was hurt a
lot of that year. When you know, Fourward came around.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
He's back, okay, and he was a high end tackle. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
He was one of their best tackles of that generation.
For sure. Hardings was one of the best centers. He
absolutely was. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
It's funny how he's not remembered that way because he's
not dirt or Webby. Yeah, you know, but he was
a top five.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Guy defensively though.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
This is where maybe the des as good as I remember.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Aaron Smith, Casey Hampton, Chemo Von o'hoffen. Yeah, okay, Jason
Gilden and Joey Porter. Is your outside backers, James Ferrier,
Kendrell Bell is your inside backers.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
Oh, that's a great front seven.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Chad Scott Dwayne Washington were the two outside cornerbacks. Would
you say that's an average pairing? Yeah for the time. Okay.
Troy Polamalo was a rookie and O. Three didn't really
start until.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Four, so he was drafted the year before Ben.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
The safeties and No. Three were Mike Logan and Brent Alexander.
The safeties became Troy Polamalo and Chris Hope.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Yeah quickly, Yeah, gotcha.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
I mean it was a really solid defense.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
So as was the case or a lot of that era.
Front seven is as good as any in the league
and really hard to run against. And you got edge
pass rushers secondary. Their corners were kind of like their tackles.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
That's what it's kind of the way Dick Lebow wanted it.
Dick Cleobo won in big cornerbacks that can tackle, who
could just come up and tackle the catch.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
And they almost took one. If you go back and
look at their history back then, they consistently took one
in like the fourth or fifth round. And you hit
on an ike tailor you miss on a bunch.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
But so what Scott was one?

Speaker 3 (08:58):
He was a one. Yeah, And there's some d On
figures and there's some ones in there, but not as
much as most teams because they didn't ask a.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Ton of them.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
You know. Like I remember being on the radio when
I was early to the radio, I would say things like, well,
there's a salary cap. Every team cuts corner somewhere somewhere.
The Steelers cut corner a corner, you know, And they.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Kind of did back then because they had such a
pass run pass rush. Yeah, And frankly, that's why you're
going to stop the run.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
You're gonna stop the run, get them in third and
long Blitzburg. All that stuff was a different way of
playing defense. Now, like every defense, there's a slight weakness
to it as well. The nickel and dimers, the Brady's
and Mannings could pick on those corners, get them out quick.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
You know.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
You couldn't come down and play press man like Champ
Bailey at the time or anything like that. But you
have to cut corner somewhere.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
No, it was.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
It's a pretty good nest on all day.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
It's pretty good nest in terms of how it compares
what they have now. I don't want to say the
defense is comparable, but he is. Yeah, I mean, especially
pre Troy, it's pretty comparable. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
I mean I think being top five for either one
of those defenses should be in the cards or very
possible without a doubt. Yeah. And defense has changed so
much too. Defending the runs not as important. Yeah, but
Hampton and Ferrier and I mean, no one's romped the
middle of that group. So is Keesel not there yet?

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Keesl was uh, I.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Mean he was a six round pick, so I mean
he may not have.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Yeah, Keesel was not there yet.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
Okay, I know Van Olhoffen played a little nose here
and there too, kind of like a band.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
When he first start, when he first signed from from Cincinnati,
he was a nose for a year and then they
drafted Hampton, and they drafted Hamton realized he wasn't Joel
Steed or Hampton you know, different, he'd be a nose
probably on this defense. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Times have change.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Yeah, that's a really good nest though. He had eight
sacks and three wow. Okay, so he could rush the passer, slayed.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
A defense in a running game. Oh, by the way,
they had two really good receivers too.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
Yeah. Now I think you're building the offensive line. I'll
take that nest over this to be Yeah, hopefully with
that offensive line and again that offensive Keeger Vincent and
Oliver Ross. Yeah, started a bunch of games that year
and tight ends very average. I don't know that you
you don't have a keycher no offense to those two guys, Kecher,

(11:24):
Vincent or Oliver Ross. I don't believe you have one
of those guys starting on this line right.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Fortunately for the Steelers, they were able to draft two
tackles in the middle of the first round, not those
you know, the tackle conversations had about them and I
don't know any of them are gonna be og dinner Biselli.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
Rarx Smith was a two.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
Yeah, that was a high pick for them at the time.
But to answer the question, Ben went to a really
good nest. Yeah, a very good nest, very good net. Yeah,
established coach, you know all that stuff too, and didn't
ask a ton of them in year one either. Yeah,
but I think this one's trending the right direction in
that direction. Yeah, I would love to see first and Ward.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Yeah, you're probably as we sit here, you're still a
receiver short, but you better tight.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
End, better tight end. Yeah, the line is more upside.
But Alan Fan is the whole fame.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Harding's wasp. He was a Pro Bowl player.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Him and Fraser might be a wash. Yeah. Okay, it's
a pretty good group. Jerome is no slouch.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
J Marsh says, glad you guys are back at it.
Question is what type of target do you want player
wise to catch? A position player that can get open,
a tall, go get it guy, or almost an almost
slot who can play outside that is shifty but not
so much a positional down player.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
He's asking like, what type of wide out they could pursue. Yeah,
I think number two, because I definitely think Austin is
a slot that can play outside. I think Wilson's almost
I don't know. I don't know how much outside. I
need to see it first from him, but he's definitely
slot mostly, if not slot only. So I'm definitely not

(13:21):
looking for anyone their size right first of all, that
you gotta be riding this tall to ride to Thunderbolt
at least, and that's probably five ten, one hundred and
ninety five or bigger, you know, like I don't need
any more little guys. And back to the Rogers conversation
in our one, I think you want more of a
route runner than a raw, big, strong, fast guy.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Yeah, you know, run straight line guy.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
That's just a big play dude. And I'm not implying
that's Metcalf because Metcalf's more than that, or that you
have that part covered. But I just think a better
Robert Woods, you know what I mean, more of a
precise route runner type.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Would Alan Lazard fill that role for you.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Somewhat. So I've said this before too, like Gave Davis
and Alan Lazard are very different stylistically. Gave Davis is
more of the run fastest straight line, pretty physical. Lazard's
more of a technician, but he's got good size too.
And and I do think Lazard is an underrated player.
He's off in the punchline. Oh he's Aaron Rodgers' buddy.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
No, he's good.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
I mean he's good. That both those guys are good,
and they're different styles. I probably would prefer Lazard to
Davis because of those reasons and the familiarity, but I
put them also, I lump them together for this reason
that that's about no offense to the two of them.

(14:48):
The worst I would accept at that position, you know
what I mean, Like, I think that's the best you could.
They might be a number two, Yeah you know, I
mean both would be helpful. You would have killed for
one of them last year, even without Rogers at times.
But I would also I kind of feel like if
I was in Omar's shoes right now, in the organization's shoes,

(15:10):
I know I can that's my fallback plan. But if
I can land a bigger fish, I'm gonna try to
land a bigger fish. Yeah, sure, you know what I mean.
But I can settle for that, and I know it
makes me better. But I'd like to do like even
if they traded for Lazard today or if they signed
Gabe Davis today, I'm not sure I would be done.
I would still listen, But all of a sudden, the

(15:30):
room gets really crowded.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Yeah yeah, Paul asks rewind the second night of the
twenty twenty three NFL Draft. The Steelers are on the
board at thirty two. There's a debate between Joey Porter
Junior or Brian Branch In hindsight, which would you choose?

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Now that's interesting.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
You all know our love of Brian Branch.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
I say, anyone even listened to when they were on
the clock had this conversations, Right.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
I'm still taking Joey Porter Jr.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
So we adored Branch. We considered them in the first
round at Knox quite a con Yes, yes, I remember vividly.
And this is not any slight on any other Pittsburgh
media people that we go on the air with throwing
the draft. Yeah, I love those dudes are great, But
you and I do this more together than they do.

(16:28):
And frankly, I think we get deeper into the draft
than they do. So being on the air with I
don't even know who was with Steelers are on the
clock and they've been on the clock for twenty four hours,
and Joey Porter's kid is on the clock at a
need position. I mean it's a a mel Or Todd
or whoever.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
Be like.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
That's a great pick at the time, and I couldn't
have agreed more, but I do remember many times. So, Mad,
is there anyone you'd consider here? Right?

Speaker 1 (16:56):
And I'm Branch.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
I would take Branch my second choice here. I would
take Branch. I think he's a special player. But this
is hindsight, you know, right, That's basically he's basically asking,
would you trade Porter for Branch? And I still think
the answers no, although I will say Branch to me

(17:18):
at this minute is better at what he does than
Porter is.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
At what he does. But it's also more common.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
Yeah, you know what I mean, Like Bemie Bishop's basically
a replacement level player at this stage of his career.
But I'd much rather have a replacement player level player
at the slot than an outside corner.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
Last year. Last year, for example, you could have taken
Cooper de Jen and been comfortable to Brian Branch.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Those two, to me are the two you want. Yeah,
I mean they're the only two I'd even consider trading
a Porter for because they're great and they give you
a lot of versatility and they can do some things
outside with those guys.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Again, there are a lot of those guys available. Yeah,
Joey Porter Jr. I can get the B minus version
of those guys. Yeah, much easier than I get the
B minus version of a number one corner. Porter's also
like six', Four like you Beat Joey Porter. JR i
remember he came in after he was. Drafted he drove down.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
The street basically like you, know he's big and you
see his combine, numbers but you shake his hands and
you see his length and his arms and it's like
this dude's.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Rare, yeah he can reach around this body and scratch
his nose right.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
Right it's just there aren't many of them on the.
Planet branch is a great football, player. THOUGH i like
both of. Them, yeah, YEAH i could easily make the.
Case But i'd rather be in the market for a
slot than a six' four outside guy without.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
A DOUBT uh td says any truth To The jalen
ramsey rumors That the steelers are considering a trade and
Will the STEELERS pay tj More than Cleveland Did. MILES
garrett I think watts contract will be Less. THAN garrett's
i think right now the hold up is the probably
the guaranteed money part.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
OF me i think it'll be in, the ballpark but.
SLIGHTLY less i don't think it needs to. BE more
i would. Be, SHOCKED yeah i would. UNDERSTAND it i
mean that's kind of how the arms. Race works, give
Me Does jamar? Chase say give me whoever the most
highest paid receiver is plus? ONE dollar, I mean i
know that's how, people WORK and i wouldn't EVER besmudge

(19:22):
tj for doing.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Exactly that you can finangle that contract wording to make
a low calvery want however.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
You WANT but I thought garrett was a slight overpay
because they were he was demanding, a trade they, were
desperate blah. Blah BLAH now I think parsons could come
in the meantime more.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
Than that he should get.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
The, most yeah if they're all, equal players he's, the
youngest he should get. The most he is the most value.
Going FORWARD but I think tj will make ninety five
percent Of the. Garrett contract As, for ramsey the word
that you use all, the time it's. A rumor i

(20:00):
don't know if there's any truth. OR not i would be.
VERY interested i just don't know how they can. Afford
it it's a big. CONTRACTUAL issue i think that's the
reason he's still. A, dolphin yeah is hardly anyone has a.
Cap space he can't really. Renegotiate it they would have
to move. Things around but all that's a loot conversation.
We had ramsey does that stuff. Extremely well if you,

(20:21):
do that you CAN'T Pay. TJ wat i don't know.
ABOUT that i don't think. YOU can i have not studied.
THE numbers i know he's like twenty one million guaranteed
or Something, for, ramsey right and they're gonna PAY what,
I mean i think that's a. Foregone conclusion but couldn't
you renegotiate cam Or cut Calder?

Speaker 1 (20:38):
Out patterson and if you do KNOW what, i mean
if you make a trade For A, jalen ramsey you're
completely out of the wide, receiver market and wide receiver
is a bigger need.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
IT is i just don't know if. That's true i'd
have to study. It more i'm not saying you're right,
or wrong.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Just looking at what they have in cap space and
what they want to go into, the seat right having in,
cap space you don't have the money to add a
twenty one million, dollar Player.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
And i'm not sure any team does as part of
the thicky For, the dolphins which maybe he's maybe everyone
the planet, knows that and he's gonna get CUT because
i don't think he'll Be a dolphin. This year like
they didn'tven ask him to come a, mini camp, you
know things, like that and maybe that's what Other teams i've.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
Seen things he wants to play For A west. COAST
team i just saw that.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
This week but. WHO knows, i mean. That's, surprised, fine yeah,
Right right i'd be very interested in. THE player i
don't know how the finances. Would work and the other
thing about, IT is i don't know how they could restructure,
current contracts, you know to get A receiver tj and.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Him all, you know it can't. ALL happen i. Just
can't there's just too.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
Much, THERE yeah i don't know. THAT part i. DON'T
know i, Believe you but could you tear up or
could you restructure? Two CONTRACTS and tj number is gonna
be smaller this year than.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
It, is now presumably unless you have a bunch of.
Guaranteed money oh she's gonna which she's going to a
Lot of that changes things a. Little.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Bit, Yeah Yeah so, paul asked.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Do you think the next uh playing the next to
A high iq player like a proven Vet And alec
Isaac say malu will be noticeably Beneficial To? BRODERCK jones.

Speaker 3 (22:28):
I do i think it's a super beneficial at, any
position two linebackers, playing together playing Next To, cam hayward
which isn't the most, cerebral position having an unbelievably smart.
Veteran center but the ONE thing i would not be
as sure about is does It help broderick so much

(22:50):
more being one position Away from isaac as opposed to three.
Positions AWAY maybe i. THINK so, I mean i think
you when you're in, your stance when you're in, the
huddle IA is i can tell, you anything.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
YOU know i think what got lost on people last
year is just how young they were from the center,
Right right.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
Because even if, you like if you put yourself and
see them all loose, face mask he can't see you
in the play what's going on the? Other, side yes
and maybe he knows a stunter comes his way.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
Or whatever but he like he can help identify some of.
That stuff he can. Tap him, he, look yeah watch
that guy coming on the bullets on.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
THE outside, i mean he's not gonna be like your
hands were too low on that play, RIGHT now i
got my own things or something.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
Like that he's got to worry about his. Own position
that's what goes with the identification. Pre snap.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
But even being right next, to him he might, be,
like well you seem slow out of your stance today
compared to last week. Or whatever you KNOW what, I
MEAN like i always go back To. Tounching wolf, you
know they they just grunted each other after, a while
And all aligeman tell you that playing next to the
same people certainly.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
Is helpful and just having a guy with so many
starts under, his belt who's, super smart who's, really smart
who understands the game right next, to, YOU yeah i
think is going to have A massive.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
I'm sure it was Good, for, fraser yeah. No, doubt, yeah,
Yeah yeah i'm sure It Helped. Dan moore, yeah. Yeah
YEAH so i mean Even like fraser adjusting the protections,
Or things I'm sure ciamalu, BE like i think that. Backer's,
coming yeah you know things like. That, too yeah remember
watching this in tape or in, the huddle and even

(24:35):
especially in. Their, STANCE yeah i bet he's gonna say
Something to jones every ten plays, that, beneficial right, you.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
Know let's get to another break here, lastly too and
there's so many.

Speaker 3 (24:48):
Combo, blocks, yeah okay they run duo and they double a. Defensive,
tackle roderick you were too quick to move on to the.
Second level give me just a, pulse, longer right, you
know to. Get, there okay we. Got, IT yeah i
think it's gonna be a. Massive help let's get to.
A break we'll be back with More ex twitter questions when.

(25:09):
We Return He's. Matt Williamson I'm. Dale lollie you're listening To.
The drive you're On The Steelers. Audio network.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
This Is the Drive With dale Lolly And matt williamson
on your twenty four to seven home Of the Black
And Gold Steelers.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
Nation radio and we. Are Back I'm. Dale lolli he
Is The matt williamson and we're answering a bunch of
questions today On. Next twitter just. A bye i guess
people must have. Missed Us josiah, jones says. Welcome back

(25:52):
it will be fantasy. Season soon will you guys do
a mock draft For a? Guillotine league I'm A ford i.
NEVER have i never. Have, Either ye i'd have to
brush up on, the Rules but.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
I'm all i'm all.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
For it since THE league I am i'm in has.
EIGHTEEN teams i also think you guys would really enjoy,
this format and she's getting more and. More popular play
the league together to try. It out would a guille
team draft? BE different, i.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
Also do you draft things? Any different That's what i'm sitting.
THERE thinking, i mean eighteen team.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
League teams makes? IT different.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
I would you can't just wait, on, quarterback right you
KNOW what? I mean so there, are positions those onesie
positions you can't. Wait forever you Don't want matt spaith
is your, tight end you KNOW what. I mean, I,
MEAN so i guess there's some difference in drafting just
because of. Position scarcity but you still have to win, week,

(26:47):
ONE right, i, mean yeah you, Better, win yeah you.
BETTER win i guess maybe you wouldn't draft trying to think. Of,
It Oh, marion hampton if you think you know reports
out Of the chargers can is they're Gonna split carries a.
Week one, YOU know i can't Wait till november for
him to take the. JOB over i need guys who
are going to. Play, NOW YEAH, I uk i'm not

(27:08):
waiting around on. You KNOW so i guess there's some,
strategy Difference but i'm all. For it i'll. BE honest,
I mean i don't think this is what they. Were
implying But anytime i've done a fantasy league, with, like
oh our podcast is going to do a fantasy league,
this year or, you know with fans, or whatever it's all.

(27:30):
My fault but there's no, money INVOLVED and i don't
know The people. I'm with it becomes my.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
Last style yet it's not.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
Much fun from where. We sit the draft is fine,
or whatever but then by WEEK.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Two i don't care. About, it, yeah yeah it's not.
Much fun You like crabs another. Longtime listeners they just
made seventy one percent of their field goals. Last, year
Well the steelers made ninety. THREE percent i think it's
not being talked about enough about How adding rogers to
his team in conjunction with how big of a Weapon

(28:03):
bas Is helps. ROGERS tremendously a.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
Great, point yeah it's a. Great point it's a great
point for. ANY team, i mean you make twenty percent
more of your kicks over the course of. Seventeen.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
Games skeins the difference between taking, the, reservation yes and
holding the reservations.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Important part not, TO mention i can't speak for the
numerous head coaches they had last Year In, new york
but you're much less likely to even, attempt, one right
you KNOW what, I, MEAN like i don't trust this guy.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
At all forty.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Five, yards yeah it's it's fourth, And three i'm going.
For it BUT if I, HAD baz. I wouldn't or
if it's forty eight yarder and there's a, little, wind
bass you're, out, There dude i'm not even, trying you,
you know so.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
It maybe it affects how you play, the game. NO question,
i mean it's a justin. De shocker let's say it's
third and twelve at the forty, two.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
Well maybe. Called, draw yeah, you know get you in a, field,
goal right you're happy, with it and it's money in
The back.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
My field goal. KICKER stinks i gotta throw the ball by.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
The, Sticks yeah because not, to mention as we talk
about all, THE time i look at field goals like,
a turnover especially if it's a. Far one this guy
not only if he misses it cost me, three Points
but i'm giving him the ball, like, MIDFIET right i.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
Mean it's seven. Yards back do you play?

Speaker 3 (29:19):
The? Game yeah and it Definitely a rogers is so
cerebral and. Game manager and by, GAME manager i mean
it's an. Ultimate compliment people take that wrong with et
man is a? Game MANAGER do i check it down
here OR do? I not, you, know like just it's
such a safety blanket having a, Great, kick.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
Yeah knowing that you've got three in your. Hip, pocket
yeah if you just check, it, down yeah as, opposed,
to well our guy's probably not going to make a
fifty three yard, field, Goal RIGHT so i better go for.
The Sticks and.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
I'm sure the, offense coordinator, head Coach and rogers ear
if they even need To, Be, YEAH hey.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
I don't i don't want to have to pull UP
to i don't want to kicker or trot not here and,
fourth down so we got to get more. Than three
so maybe he throws a pick that he, should know
right or. Whatever too and along, Those lines WES and
i had a. Long. Conversation cheater red zone offense has
been a problem For, the steelers and last year it
was near the ball in the league if you Didn't,

(30:15):
have bos could you imagine you KNOW what, I mean
that's just another instance of how important. That IS and
i really believe even if, it's weightman because it was true.
Last year but if They, have johnston it's the version
we saw. Pre injury they're kicking specialists will be an. A.

(30:37):
PLUS yeah, i mean that's a lot of hidden yardage
and a lot of Things in tomlin's head as a,
game manager they're.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
Just different you can play the. Game differently It's what
harbaugh had For having baltimore for over.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
A decade it's a, huge, Advantage. RIGHT yeah i mean
THAT'S why I think tucker Is a Hall of famer
because he influences a game even when he's not, out there,
you Know and bos does.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
Not too imagine making seventy three percent of your kick a,
year though right in this day, and age.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
That's horrendous.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
That's. Rough YEAH T ma mac two fifty, six says
is it time to worry about not getting receiving threat? Number?
TWO yet i got flashbacks last year Where the steelers
did a lot of talking and not a lot. Of
walking it's not time to worry about.

Speaker 3 (31:24):
That, YET no i don't think so. At all nothing's
changed mine, right now. Right right it's not like the
receivers are falling off the board left and right that
you could. Have had NO but i do understand THE. Ayuk.
PTSD wait i mean that.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
Was a long Stretch, of oh he's gonna be, here
tomorrow it's a.

Speaker 3 (31:41):
Done, deal well here's.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
The thing we all were teased for a.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
LONG time a lot of was. Media, driven Yeah mister
rooney didn't come out, and Say, LIKE brandon i should
have been.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
Here tomorrow radio show hosts on other stations going out
there and say it's a. Done, deal, yeah yeah you known.
So everybody and then, you Know it's Lucy van pelt
pulling the. Ball again, but Yeah It's. LUCY vampell i just.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
Learned that, but yeah, so yeah they're it's not too
early or not too late or whatever right now because even,
those CONVERSATIONS and i do believe those conversations took.

Speaker 1 (32:24):
Place heavily we're deep into, training.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
Camp right, you?

Speaker 1 (32:27):
Know. Right Uh nate skinner asked if you WERE the
gm would you consider in using next? Year's collection how
would you consider using next year's collection? Of picks what
moves do you consider uh to round out? This team
glad you're feeling a. BETTER deal i, Appreciate, That, NATE
well i think we've talked about some. OF that i

(32:49):
think you're, you know you have, twelve picks and they're
not gonna make. Twelve picks they're not going to make.
Twelve picks some of those picks will, be used some
of them will be used potentially to move up in the. First,
round right you're probably talking your first and, your second
and maybe one of. Those, threes yeah, in addition but

(33:09):
probably the next.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
Year's one so this is a crystal, ball thing and
who the, Heck KNOWS but i definitely think that winning
the comp pick game won't be in play this offseason
because you've got a lot. Of capspace you have a
lot of PICKS that i think you might go outside in.
Free agency you might go outside the organization a player

(33:32):
or two more than usual to find a starter or
a nickel or a third receiver so that you don't
go into the draft with massive non, quarterback, Right right
but all those picks as we talk about all. The
time if you have five six, round picks that's not
gonna help you move up in the.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
First row that's just those are into. The roster that's
where you take the Extra OFFENSIVE lineman's.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
I was going, to say is give me premium positions
in the mid rounds that are, projects extralignement that type.
Of thing, you know a cornerback that you're gonna, Take,
it yeah a guy with trade size.

Speaker 1 (34:13):
Speed, traits.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
YEAH absolutely i think there's a lot of that kind.
Of stuff and maybe a wide receiver that's a year
away or something, like that or another.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Running.

Speaker 3 (34:21):
Back YEAH and i definitely think if the, day comes
let's say two of those picks have been moved by
the day that the draft kicks off Here, in pittsburgh
you're gonna end up with twenty twenty. Seven picks you
may package a couple of, things up or here's a
fourth from this draft because we have three of them

(34:42):
for a third, next year, you know because you're going
to be light because you probably won't have that, first
right you KNOW what. I mean so those picks are
great collateral to make up for your for what, you
lost for what you lost to hopefully get the next
rothelspergerback because there's a real good chance that the two
twenty twenty, seven draft you don't have, a, first right

(35:03):
but you might have extra day. To, stuff yeah you
know from conegelin. A, round yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
That's all that's all part.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
Of it SO rad i love the idea of taking
an extra. Offensive, line yeah, you Know take grant Out
of William and mary even if he's, you know a.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
Year away, Good, Question dan, sinceerry asks why does it
seem the quarterbacks Such As mason rudolph And will howard
get pigeonholed into a belief that they cannot be. A
starter it seems that there's as if there's, a window
or if their window is much smaller than say. First, rounders, well, yeah.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
Yeah because this world's, not fair or this world. Is
Fair josh allen has more traits than, those guys so
he goes in the, first, ROUND right, I Mean josh
allen needs a ton of work coming Out. Of Wyoming,
anthony richardson they don't, all hit, you know but they're, more,
GIFTED right, i mean it's simply, you know that's what

(36:00):
it comes. Down to why is a pitcher that throws.
A hundred i don't know anything, about baseball but if
he throws, A hundred i bet he's giving more opportunitiess
the guy that. Throws, ninety yeah. That's it or if you're, a,
bigger stronger faster you, All right i'm, seven foot there's
a good chance here going in. The, League yeah i'm
giving a much better chance than a guy who's six. Foot. Exactly,
exactly yeah. THAT'S it, i mean, especially now more so

(36:25):
even the quarterback than ever is, trade straights trade. Straight,
TRAITS yeah i mean, the cerebral do, everything right. Ultimate
professional you Can beat lamar with, that, guy right. You,
know yeah and that's what it comes. Down, to yeah
it's not, That, hard yeah it. Really is this guy's

(36:45):
more gifted.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
Than, you yeah let's get through another break here before
we come back and finish up. The show he Is The.
MATT williamson I Am. Dale lollie you're listening to the
drive here On The Steelers, audio network taking a bunch
Of ex twitter, questions today fire and a lot of good,
ones today a lot of deep. Thoughts.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
Here, Yeah yeah i'm.

Speaker 1 (37:04):
THE fans i, Like it. Martina fans we'll come back,
with more will finish these up here right after.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
This least Is the Drive With dale Lolly And matt
williamson on your twenty four To seven home Of the
Black And Gold Steelers, nation radio.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
And we. ARE back I AM dale lolli he Is
The matt williamson and we're taking Some ex twitter questions
today on the.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
Show make up for lost time to say.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
The least brad prenis another longtime listener to.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
THE show a lot of familiar, Names, here, yeah.

Speaker 1 (37:48):
Yeah yeah, he Asked Is keanu benton the real story
of the defensive line? This year if you want To
manage cam snaps And keep harmon from hitting the, rookie
wall then doesn't need to be getting eighty percent. Of
snaps what's a good snap Percentage for Cam. And harmon
i'm not so Worried about harmon hitting the rookie wall because.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
He's not gonna be one hundred percent.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
Now anything there's a difference, between say these offensive linemen
out there playing every snap of. Every game that's a
much different world and a guy playing Let's say harmon
plays fifty five percent of.

Speaker 3 (38:25):
The snaps he's in, week one it's, forty, weeks, yeah twelve.
It's sixty that's much much more manageable because he can
always just, tap out, you know or only playing third
downs this game or whatever to especially because you have
a lot of. Depth, there yeah let Me put lowry in.
Or whatever.

Speaker 1 (38:40):
YOU know i believe cam last year was it about
seventy three percent of. THE snaps i.

Speaker 3 (38:47):
Would always take, the under, you know like that's less
than the. YEAR before i think next this upcoming year
will be less. Than that if he comes back a year,
after that it'll probably be less. Than, that ideally he's
hard to take. Off field it's hard to get him off.
The field it's hard to get him off. THE field
i Don't address benton real, quick BECAUSE as i, ALWAYS

(39:07):
do i listen to a lot of, national podcasts and
a lot of them have Said man steeters kind of
a little Bit disappointing benton didn't take a big step
forward in. YEAR two i don't see it, at, ALL right,
i mean just because he doesn't have double. DIGIT sacks
i think that's just kind of box score looking at.
SACKS stuff i think they're very encouraged, with him and to,

(39:29):
THIS point i definitely think his snap count does. Go
up but the offseason as we always say teams don't
lie to you with. THEIR acquisitions i think they want
to use a lot of. Bodies, THERE yeah I mean
i think The logan Lee's and lowry's.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
Or will be inning eaters, for you, you know maybe a little.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
More so not as reliant on just, the, stars RIGHT
because I want benton And, especially cam but also the
first round pick to be super fresh on third, and
eight you KNOW what i mean later.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
THIS season i don't want those guys being tapped.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
OUT right i need them fresh for. THE playoffs i need,
them fresh which is almost impossible to play the three
game stretch Against the Eagles and Chiefs, and ravens which
was impossible to keep, them fresh you KNOW what. I
mean but when the going, GETS tough i need.

Speaker 1 (40:16):
Them.

Speaker 3 (40:16):
There YEAH so i think they're Gonna have they're gonna be,
very conscious Especially in September. And october let's maybe dress
seven and use them. All, some yeah use them, all
some especially in.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
The heat and, you, Know right ason asks this year
is fairly. Fairly obvious the defensive line was a Position
the steelers needed most going into. The draft without, saying
quarterback what position do you Think the steelers will be
the most in the market for next. Off season my
yes is corner considering SLAYS h i would agree.

Speaker 3 (40:48):
With, that yeah it's hard to argue with. That one
certainly the wide receivers on the tip of. My tongue
but if they get somebody that's more than a one, year, Deal, possibly, yeah.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Offensively you don't have to Replace. Sam.

Speaker 3 (41:01):
OLUO potentially i was gonna Say saam Alu and sleigh
are probably your two starters that are least likely to
be back due, to age or if, they are it's
on a one year deal and you better find a
second round pick. REPLACEMENT plan i hope it's not, offensive,
TACKLE right i don't think it. WILL be i don't
think it would be round one total. Hole, there yeah

(41:24):
other than that receiver. Guard, corner, yeah yeah AND.

Speaker 1 (41:32):
That's i think. That's Right brad preniss asked. Another question
my question is whether we know who will Be Joining
rob king in the booth for the radio broadcast and
we'll in the locker room return with a new co Host.
WITH max.

Speaker 3 (41:49):
I have.

Speaker 1 (41:50):
No idea We don't we don't know that, official nothing
nothing is Beneficial and.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
Wolf will be, greatly missed but there will be out
some sort of placement plan, in Place and i'm.

Speaker 1 (42:01):
Sure that they've worked on or already have. IN place i.
Don't know they don't consult us on. These, things yeah
it was actually thinking a Lot about wolf over, the
weekend just about how much. He's, MISSED yea.

Speaker 3 (42:16):
I Do a monday night show. WITH him i don't
know who the replacement will be. For That with rob
obviously he had, a huge huge footprint in print that
it will be tough.

Speaker 1 (42:26):
To replace but there will be people on. The. Air
Ye fred, corner says what are the realistic stat Expectations
For aaron rodgers If the steelers maintain a heavy? Run
offense love listening to, you guys listening to, Your show
thank you for what. You, do well we. APPRECIATE that.

Speaker 3 (42:46):
I would think interceptions will. GO down i don't.

Speaker 1 (42:48):
Think, SO.

Speaker 3 (42:50):
Sacks, i know will go down from What the steelers took. Last, year,
Yeah that i'll bet EVERY cent. I have but Even
his jets interception numbers were a. Little inflated they also
ran the ball the fewest times in.

Speaker 1 (43:01):
The, league yeah how?

Speaker 3 (43:03):
Many touchdowns how?

Speaker 1 (43:04):
MANY yards i think he can approach the what twenty
eight touchdowns that? He, had Yeah and i'd say thirty,
thirty seven thirty eight. Hundred, YARDS yeah.

Speaker 3 (43:15):
I think those. Are, REASONABLE yeah i think.

Speaker 1 (43:17):
That's.

Speaker 3 (43:17):
REASONABLE yeah I mean i think your running back catches
are going to. GO up i think your middle of
the field catches will. GO up i think you'll be
as efficient on the outside. Deep balls he was actually
better at that Than. Even WILSON but i don't think
there's gonna be a lot of games he's throwing it. Forty, times,
no yeah you don't.

Speaker 1 (43:37):
Want them if you're throwing it, forty times you're. PROBABLY losing, i.

Speaker 3 (43:40):
Say your defense probably isn't doing. His, job, yeah right
and Maybe a burrow game here and there you're getting
in one of those crazy situations because that's How the
bengals have, to.

Speaker 1 (43:48):
Play.

Speaker 3 (43:48):
RIGHT yeah I mean i don't think the volume is
going to, Be, GREAT like i don't think.

Speaker 1 (43:52):
You want them. For, fantasy no maybe he's your backup, all, right, right,
Right leagues, but yeah he ask what would you Guys
predict TJ's new contract will look like in what his
cap percentage.

Speaker 3 (44:06):
WILL be i bet his cap percentage is lower than it.
IS now i think it will be similar. But, lower
yeah but it'll be a bunch. BIGGER number, i mean
he'll be making. More money that's what.

Speaker 1 (44:16):
PEOPLE don't i think people have to think of it.
That way they just well if they just look at
the total number, and, say oh he can't, pay, that
right it's about the. Cap percentage the cap has gone
up since he signed his last. Deal massively it's gone
up like sixty. Million, dollars, YEAH yeah i mean how much.

Speaker 3 (44:32):
Percentage is it's.

Speaker 1 (44:33):
Probably going to go up another twenty million dollars.

Speaker 3 (44:35):
NEXT Year dk metcalf's the. Best example people don't realize
this because he Was in seattle when he signed his.
First contract big contract was for a higher percentage Than
the steelers gave him, just, Now, right yeah he's worth
slightly less because he has a couple more years of tread. Office,
tires probably as is the CASE, with tj he is

(44:56):
less football ahead of him when he signs. This CONTRACT
so i don't know what the numbers, will BE but
i think it'll be less THAN, forty apr a big
old bonus and slightly less cap percentage than the one
he signed a couple of.

Speaker 1 (45:13):
Years.

Speaker 3 (45:13):
Ago.

Speaker 1 (45:13):
Yeah Yeah terry shipman asks If the steelers finished comparable
to last year with, your position which is twenty. Twenty
issue what is a trade up to the top five going?
To cost top five. Is tough top five is.

Speaker 3 (45:29):
Very difficult it's too early to talk about next, year's,
quarterbacks right and we've said a million gazillion times that
is so subject. To change but as it, stands now
in The stuff i've read and The researcher, I'VE done
i think next year's class could be similar To The knicks,

(45:51):
pennix McCarthy five or six of them going in the
first round type and then in the top half of the,
first round not so trades Back For dart.

Speaker 1 (46:03):
And the other variable there is the teams who are
in those spots they need a Quarterback like, Patriots won't.
TITANS won't, i mean there'll be some of there in,
those spots and they're just looking to. Get, back, yeah yeah.
Yea yeah they may be more agreeable to just take
whatever they.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
Can get, absolutely, so obviously you'd like to have your
pick of, the litter, to say there's five guys that
are all gonna go before twenty they're all gonna go
in the. Top half you'd love to have your pick of.

Speaker 1 (46:34):
The litter but you're probably happy with three or four.

Speaker 3 (46:38):
Of, them yeah and history shows you get some dynamite quarterbacks, at, eight,
nine twelve, you Know just allen, YOU know, I Mean I'm,
ALAN mahomes i mean the guys from. That class and,
to me as you, mentioned earlier, strike like let's say
you want to get, TO nine i think that costs

(46:58):
you the twentieth pick next year's first and maybe. A,
third yeah that's. Very, DOABLE yeah i mean, that's again
that's why we've been telling, you guys this is. The plan, You,
know like of course you don't want to be short
the next, year's first but you're. Gonna. BE yeah i
mean the team's on trade out of eight or nine
to twenty, for, nothing, right right but if it's for,

(47:20):
a quarterback it's well, worth it and you have cap
space and you have all the extra stuff to make up.

Speaker 1 (47:23):
For It mister dan asked fans were sad in to
hear the Passing Of arthur. Smith's father our our thoughts
are with him and. His family it's, too soon but
do you imagine that this might cause him a. Step
away and we know he doesn't, do it doesn't do
it for, the money but he could feel obligated to
attend the. Family, BUSINESS no i don't believe that. AT all.

Speaker 3 (47:46):
I don't know him or his father, at all but
it would.

Speaker 1 (47:50):
Shock.

Speaker 3 (47:50):
ME yeah i, mean again he does this because he
loves it and he's good. At it and maybe if
he had zero dollars in, the bank he'd be doing.
This FOREVER and i, don't KNOW but i don't think
he's going to Take.

Speaker 1 (48:03):
Over, FedEx no that's not. Gonna Happen, R yeah i mean.

Speaker 3 (48:06):
He's ever worked for him before, in life, you, know
right as FAR as, i know you don't hand a
bazillion dollar contract or company over to somebody.

Speaker 1 (48:14):
That's unprepared and our final question of the day what
passed this Is From. Justin porter what pastor present player
did you build the best rapport with over? THE years
i could have a conversation about just more than football
and what player was the most difficult to. Be around

(48:35):
you don't have to explicitly name name, a name but
give examples why it. Was, DIFFICULT okay i always had
a really good Rapport With. Willie parker there's been a bunch.

Speaker 3 (48:50):
OF guys i bet think you've had.

Speaker 1 (48:51):
A million i have a great Rapport With, CAM hayward.

Speaker 3 (48:54):
I bet you could name thirty of both categories absolutely
or sixty year, one.

Speaker 1 (48:57):
HUNDRED right, i mean there's been a bunch of guys
that you just talked to you over the years that.
You know I'D gone i, don't know ten years Without Seeing,
demanty dawson, for example and saw him at some kind
of either an alumni event, or something or he just
happened to, drop by and he came over and Shook,
my hey how, you doing like we've just seen each

(49:19):
other the. DAY before, i mean. That's ye just a
bunch of guys like that that have been really great over.
The years.

Speaker 3 (49:27):
Mine's a. Go ahead mine's a. Little different it would
have to come for my three Years, At pitt but unlike,
your situation we, traveled together we wore the, same gear
we were on the. SAME team i might have helped,
recruit you. Et CETERA but i was not like the
head coach or their. POSITION coach I mean i WAS.
A ga, i was but even like when it Was,

(49:47):
heinz field it. WAS new i would drive a bus
of all the specialists down there once a week during,
the SEASON so i got to know all the kickers
and long Snappers And andy lee ended up being in
the league for twenty years and having a, great Career
and i'd love To see andy. Right, now yeah it's
not like we text or anything, like that but we
got along grade and same with all those kickers and

(50:08):
the dudes that nobody had ever. Heard of but It's,
definitely larry not because, he's good because he never left, the,
facility right, You know like people, Don't realize like On,
a tuesday you could walk through that facility and there's
like nobody there because all the offensive coaches are in
the offensive room breaking, on tape all the defensive coaches
are in the, defensive room and they don't have time

(50:28):
to be Coaching. Up larry so he'd come sit with
me and would watch high school TAPE because i was
the only, one around, you know so got to be buddies,
with him you KNOW what, i mean and helped that
he was good and had a great career and he
was fun. To watch but he just, never left like
get out.

Speaker 1 (50:43):
Of here as for the, most difficult the Guys that
i've had the biggest problem with have been the guys
who want to interject themselves into. A conversation you're having with. Somebody.
Else mmmkay, you Know so i'm talking to the guy

(51:05):
in the locker next, to him and they start jumping in.
And answering we're just making off handed comments about. Our
conversation there's no need.

Speaker 3 (51:17):
For that, Were right no one asked you.

Speaker 1 (51:19):
Interviewing.

Speaker 2 (51:20):
You.

Speaker 3 (51:20):
Yeah yeah one of mine WAS when i was With.
The browns as is the case with all, the teams
we had. FREE access i would go lift. EVERY day
i would go work out. Every day, you know you
were there in the facility for, twelve hours. Fifteen hours,
oh yeah IMAGINE if. I DIDN'T but i look like
an underwear model. Back then, BUT anyway i would go,

(51:42):
down there and there's often players in the weight room
Depending when i'm, down THERE and i don't talk. To
anyone i'd go in the Corner and i'd do my pathetic.
Little WORKOUT but, i Remember Like, ross verba who was our,
Left tackle he's making fun of ME that i can't
lift as much. As him, i'm like that's the Dumbest
thing i've, ever heard, You KNOW like i have one
fifty on the bar and he has three fifty on.

Speaker 1 (52:02):
The bar, i'm like, OF course i can't lift as much.

Speaker 3 (52:05):
AS you, i mean what are we?

Speaker 1 (52:06):
Talking, about yeah, like yeah it wasn't even like joking,
about it but, it's like, you know like laughing, at
you like why?

Speaker 3 (52:14):
Why right of course you're stronger. Than me if, you're
not we got, big, problems dude and we had big.
Problems that he wasn't that, Good either, yeah, right yeah so,
you KNOW like i just, remember, that like why would
you ever say that to? A civilian, YOU know, i,
Mean like i'm, Not here i'm OFF to i don't
have to try to Block the.

Speaker 1 (52:31):
