Speaker 1 (00:03):
At least he's the Drive with Dale Lolly and Matt
Williamson on your twenty four to seven home of the
Black and Gold Steelers Nation Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
And we are back. I am Dale LOLLI he is
the Matt Williamson except no imitations. And it is time
to mock draft here little bit. We're gonna see Pro
Football Focus. We've only got well three opportunities the mock
draft remaining.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
True today, we've done plenty of Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Thursday, we will do a mock draft with Mike Persuda
where we'll rotate picks throughout live.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Yeah, that's pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
And check that out on Steelers dot com.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
So, folks, how that works is if Dale gets one,
I get two, and Mike gets three, then Dale gets four.
Then you know, we just keep going and we pick
as those guys. We don't consult to be like, what
do you guys think, Let's tuddle up. Now you're on
your own.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
You're on your own and you've got to react to
how everybody else picked, which makes it interesting, all right.
So we're using the Pro Football Focus mock drafter today
and the Steelers are up at twenty one. The top
players available Omari and Hampton, Tyler Williams, I like Derek Harmon,
Shador Sanders.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Wow, Grant and Older and Gone. Yes, these mock drafts
and mock draft simulators seem to have at least one
of the three defensive tackles going consistently. And I don't
think it's that rare for two to be gone.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
No, I don't think so either. It gets a little scary.
Now we do have fours rate offers, the highest one
being from the Houston Texans. I assume want to come
up and get an offensive lineman here at twenty five
real quick.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
And I wonder if you agree or not like trading
down's fine, But I either want to not go real
far and hopefully get.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Harmon, or we're gonna go down and Tyler Williams.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Or Alexander and I'm gonna have a lot of stuff,
you know, maybe a future pick or whatever. And both
are not bad builds.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
I don't see them trading out of the first round.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
You mentioned that Friday. I mean, it's never not what
they do.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
It never done right, right, I think in this instance
with those and I just set that up to look
at defensive tackle, running back, and quarterback. So the other
guys available, Malachi Starks, I'm sure good players, but Ki Burden,
Colston Loveland, Calvin Banks, who I think maybe that's who
Houston wants to combat with. Gray's Abel was there. So
(02:32):
there are some guys. And even Trey Amos is still there.
Josh Connerly is still there.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
I'm usually not a fan of taking this approach, but
I'm trying to make it as realistic as possible. If
Houston was on the phone, okay, give us a little something.
We're We're not gonnaive as much from you to go
back to their spot. But if Harmon were to fall
between then then I'm really open for a minute.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Yeah, now I might move back.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
And might double down even further and make two trade down.
But I mean I still want the first pick to
be a the alignment.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Right, So do we move back or not?
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Let's try it. I mean, how many where are they
at again?
Speaker 2 (03:09):
They're at twenty five?
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Okay, so there's two players we're gonna are gonna fall. Yeah,
and they're not going to take Harmon. I'm not going
to ask for fifty eight because I don't I don't pay.
They're not going to do fifty eight, but they do
have seventy nine from Miami. That's enough for me to
roll the dice on that.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Yeah, and according to this there's a fifty two percent
chance that that would be accepted. So it would be
twenty five and seventy nine for twenty one.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Okay, and then you hope Harmon doesn't fall or see
how go.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
And if that, if that happens, and if we want
them to trade up from seventy nine or even eighty three,
now put a package again. Now we can put a
package together and move up into that second round. Yeah,
without giving up all that much.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
No, I don't think you have to give the next
year's first or second. No, right, yeah, probably a four
I think four or next year three. I don't know
if when they.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Go up, say ten spots.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Let's see who these two picks are.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
All right, I'm going to offer the trade first. They
didn't accept that.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
You're throwing our seventh or something.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
I'll throw in seven. But they got to give me
their seven because I want seven picks in the draft.
They accepted that, so it ended up being twenty one
and two twenty nine for twenty five, seventy nine and
two thirty six.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
I'm fine with that.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yeah, all right, we're going to resume the draft here.
And they came up to get Luther Burden, but that.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Would be a need too. Yeah, we assumed o line,
but Burden would be a nice compliment to call him. Sure.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Then Malachi Starks went, then Colston Loveland, then Shamar Stewart.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
So we only go in two spots down. We went
from twenty one to twenty five some reason. I was okay,
spots that was being done. Ye, all right?
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Do we have eight trade offers now, the Lions being
up at twenty eight being the next closest one, but
everything else is outside the first round. Harmon is still there.
I think you just take Harmon. We're twenty six, we're
twenty five, twenty five. Yeah, we accomplish what we wanted
to do. We got what we got the pick back,
yeah yeah, and still got our guy and still got
(05:09):
our guy. That's the way this works.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
No, no reason to flirt with disaster twice.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
All right, I'm gonna pause here at fifty three.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Do you agree though, if Harmon were to pick went
twenty four, I'm open for business. Yeah yeah, yeah, oh yeah, okay.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Yeah, we're up here at fifty three. Tampa Bay is
on the clock, and I'm just looking here at the
running backs have been largely untouched except scatter.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Bow just went, I'm not trading up for scattaboy.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
That doesn't stay. That doesn't move the needle for me.
But everybody else is still on the board at fifty three. Good,
you don't let it roll the sixties or so, Okay,
I'm gonna I'm gonna let it roll here. Our next
pick is at seventy nine, so we've got twenty six
picks here to go. They're going to start coming off
the board.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Yeah, I know, I know.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
All right, we are now within We're at sixty four.
Dylan Sampson just went. Trevon Henderson is gone, Caleb Johnson
has gone.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
There was a run. There was a run, Okay, but
it looks like it looks like Judkins available.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Judkins is still there. Would you trade up with the
Eagles here at sixty four to go get Judkins?
Speaker 3 (06:16):
As a rule of thumb, I'm thrilled in a running
back heavy draft to trade up for a running back.
But there was just a run. We picked up an
extra pick. He would get a lot of usage in
the Steelers' uniform this year, I would kick the tires.
I mean, see what it would take to get up
to sixty four. You know, one of those thirds. I
(06:39):
bet one of those thirds. The next year third isn't
going to get it done.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Seventy nine and next year's fourth round pick has a
forty six percent chance to be accepted for this pick.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Wow, worth a shot. I mean, I'm gonna offer it. Yeah, yah, yeah,
I would do a third. I do two threes.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
They did not accept that.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
How about that and next year's third.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Man, I give it up the next year's third. If
I'm gonna do that, I'm gonna go down to pick
eighty three or second. If I'm gonna give up next
year's third, one hundred percent chance that would be accepted.
So they got to give me a kicker here.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Yeah, could we turn our seventh into a fifth this year?
Something like that?
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Two thirty six they got one sixty eight as their
last pick. They will definitely do that, So.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
We'll spell it out to them again. I know we're
giving up next year's third.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
We would be giving up next year's third, which is
our third. Next year we get the compensatory for eighty
three or I'm sorry next year's third and eighty three
for sixty four and one sixty eight.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
So Judkins, we still have a pick in the third
round the Texans or our pick.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
We got we got the Texans the pick we got
from the Texans, which was actually Miami's pick at seventy nine,
so we would have sixty four to seventy nine and
then one twenty three. We'd also be moving up from
the seventh round to the fifth round.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
One twenty three is pretty useful, right, let's do it.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
They're saying, this is we could. We could probably get more.
Throw me in a seven next year. They get two
five's next year. Yeah, yeah, they get Houston's five and
their five. I'd rather have Houston's five. Who are we
talking to you, Philadelphia?
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Yeah, Houston's all right, offer to Tree, They're gonna accept it. Yep,
We're okay. So we are in this spot for Judkins
right when we did it for that reason, Yes, do
it all right? We moved up to get Judkins. Now
we have another pick at seventy nine. Did any other
running backs go in between there? Well, guess who did go?
(08:44):
Jalen Milroe went in between there, but such as life. Yeah,
no other running backs went in between there. That doesn't
mean none would have gone. I'm not saying we're not
going to draft the quarterback, but I'm kind of looking
at quarterback as next year's first round pick at this point. Yeah,
now with those two first those two picks, Tyler Shuck
is still there. Okay, that's not crazy. I'd consider it. Again.
(09:10):
I'm a fan of the player. His timeline is just
going to be a little rough.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
It's gonna be rough.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
I mean, no matter where where he lands, it's a
little rough. But most teams don't have a two already
in place. You know that he had. Could he beat
out Rudolph? I don't know. I mean, I guess you'd
want him to, right, Let's ignore it, though, Well, I
don't know, let's consider it. Maybe there's who else is
on the board.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Is there Jalen Royals, wide receiver out of Utah State,
like he would be helpful.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
Yeah. Andrew mccooba, the safety out of Texas. Good player,
But I'm.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
A Kyle Williams wide receiver from Washington State.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Which two receivers? Which receiver do you take? Of those two?
They're really different, But I think i'd go Williams.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
I probably would too, but I could understand either for
Royal right.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
R J.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Harvey running back with we've done there. Mason Taylor, the
tight end out of l s.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
U good player, shocked the Olla Dejo.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
The edge rusher out of U C l A. Damian Martinez,
he's kind of risen up. Ozzie Trapio the tackle out
of Boston College. Chris Paul junior linebacker from Mississippi. Marcus
and Bough tackle from Purdue, could be your left guard
left card next year. Cross training tackle Jonas i Vania
also still there.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
I like you more and more.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Terrence Ferguson, the tight end out of Oregon.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
I'm a Ferguson fan too.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
But Jared Wilson, the center out of Georgia. He's really athletic.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
He is. I think he might be center only.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Yeah, that's a problem. Lathan Ransom the safety out of
Ohio State. Vernon Broughton, defensive lineman from Texas.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
There has to be some noses.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Wyatt Millum the tackle out of.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
West Virginia, who's guarden private guard?
Speaker 2 (10:53):
Cameron Williams tackle out of Texas. Jordan Phillips is a
top rated nose tackle if you but.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
If they took a Millim and put him next to Fraser.
West would just lose his Oh my god, really nasty
too it be it wouldn't be a bad baron. Yeah,
West would lose his mar.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
So I wouldna Jordan Phillips righted the head of Jamury Caldwell,
and I think I would have that flip flopped.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Coldwell's definitely more pass rush.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Caldball gives you more as a pass rusher, Phillips.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
We already have Harmon.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
I like, yeah, but I don't know that he's ever
going to give you anything as a pass.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
Rusher, just for the shuck of it. Let's ignore shuck, okay,
And I would consider Williams Savenia or or Millim, you know,
whatever you like. There is a tackle slash guard convert
or Coldwell, not bow he'd be fine too. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
In that situation, when do we pick again, we're a
one twenty three and this is what seventy nine? Oh wow,
we got a little bit of a wait. Yeah, but
we're gonna be taking if we do. If we go
to the offensive line route, we're taking a guy who's
going to start, presumably he's going to start for us
next year.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
All three of those guys. I think I'm taking tackle
and guard reps at camp. Pretty fond of the receivers though.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Probably secondary need though, right we have this year, like
how much how much is a receiver? How much is
a rookie receiver really going to help you this year?
You got Roman Wilson coming back, That's that's your bonus prize,
I know.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
And I might just be happy with y'all, y'all black
in the fifth or sixth or something like that. Let's
take whatever lineman you like best.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Stake seven here. We haven't taken him. I like it,
and I mean he's got he moves well. Yeah, very
huge human being six five, three thirty six. He's just
twenty one years old at that point, which is you know,
different from for example, millim Is. I think he's twenty three.
He'll be twenty four during the season this year, so
(13:09):
I'm getting three extra years.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
As sivanam bow uh, he is, well, he just turned
twenty two. But I like is the puppy of them.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
I also don't know that he can't stay at tackle.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
That's the other thing might be he you know, he
might be able to move out through your page.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Both those for yeah, let's do it. It is Okay,
that's a nice pickup.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Okay, moving down to one twenty three, what we have
remaining is one twenty three, one fifty six, one sixty eight,
one eighty five, and two thirty six. We got five. Yeah,
we are up now at in the route in the
UH one twenty three top players r J. Mickens the
safety head of Clemson, Danny Stutsman, the linebacker of Oklahoma,
(13:55):
Isaac Tesla, wide receiver out of Arkansas.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
I'd be fine with that.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
We got Billy Ohmen the safety out of Oklahoma. Benjamin
You're a sick the tight end from Georgia, ty Robinson,
defensive lineman from Nebraska. Sebastian Castro, safety out of Iowa.
Mellow Dotson the cornerback out of Kansas. Riley Fraser or
Riley Leonard. I'm sorry, I jumped ahead of myself there.
Riley Leonard to quarterback out of Notre Dame, Miles Fraser
(14:20):
guard out of LSU, Cameron Jackson defensive tackle from Florida.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Okay, Tyler Shuck is still there. I think that's shet Okay,
justin Wally, Wally's interesting there were I just want to
take a look here at the defense of the receivers.
I think the nose from Florida.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
I think I would go nose here.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
To be honest with you, seems like there's a lot
as deep as it is, it sounds like a lot
of them have gone.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
A lot of them have been taken off the chessboard.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
Here. Let's do it, and we have four more picks
for bonus prizes, you know, best available type guys. Yeah,
get the nose done.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
You went Ty Johnson or Ty Robinson or Cameron Jackson.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
I think Robinson's a clearly better prospect, but I want
to nose. Yeah, you know, I think you have the
draft for need there a little bit. Yeah. Now, he
has played the nose, but it's not a true nose.
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Whereas Cameron Jackson, he's he's a true Let's do that,
all right, Cameron Jackson, it is from Florida.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
We have two huge people. All right.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
We are now up at one fifty six top players available,
a lot of the same guys. R. J. Mickens, safety
at a Clemson, Ty Robinson defensive lineman from Nebraska.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Could we do three? We're gonna have eight picks in
this draft.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Yeah, Miles Fraser, the guard from l s U. Jalen Reed,
the safety from Penn State. Justin Wally cornerback from Minnesota.
Dylan Fairchild, the guard from Georgia.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Kind of did guard, but yeah, another air linement would
not break my heart.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Ty Felton, the wide receiver at of Maryland is there.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
I like him too.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Now your quarterback guys that you're looking at at this spot,
Dylan Gabriel, Quinn yours, Cal McCord, Curtis Rourke.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
I would say Wally or McCord.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
I just want to see what else is there at cornerback.
Let's just Wally balal Cone from Western Michigan.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
Quinns I just kind of turned into onto him. He's
he's pretty high in the beast and yeah he's Yeah,
he's obviously a little grabby.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Yeah, yeah, a lot of penalties, but but he's.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
Worth this pick.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
I mean there's probably Wally over him, but he's worth
this pick. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Quincy Riley is still there as well. He's a little
bit of an older prospect. I think, what is he?
Speaker 3 (16:44):
When's our next?
Speaker 2 (16:45):
He turns twenty four in a month. Wally, on the
other hand, is I don't even have his age listened,
So I have no idea how Wally is I can.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
See here from his do we have a long way
to our next pick, not a super long wait, No,
we have a just listed three or four corners that
would all fit the bill. If this is pick one
fifty six, we're back at one sixty eight. Bet one
of the corners fall.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Yeah, I think so. M'donald Fortune is there? Corey Black
from Oklahoma State is there? Saw Frasier still there? Those
dudes Jalen Smith are still there? Pencil in a corner
for the next pick. Okay, you want to take quarterback here?
Speaker 3 (17:23):
Then quarterback? Or was there a receipt? Was Tesla still there?
Speaker 2 (17:27):
I don't believe he was.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
No, I candn't remember what best you're looking at, Ty Felton.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
Not a Mompfield from pitt Jalen Lane from Virginia Tech,
Dante Thornton from Tennessee.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
I like Lane and Thornton, but I'd probably just take
the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Yeah, I don't know what they're gonna do for You're right, right, quarterback.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
I think there's a chance McCord turns into a starter
at some point in his career, at the very least
he's going to be a backup for you.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Yeah, yeah, for a long time. He can be along
ten year back up in the in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
I'm fine with that. Cayle McCord, It is all right.
We're back up here, and I would strongly justin.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Wally is still there.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
It boom.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Done. Now we're up at one eighty five. We've got
two picks left players. Jalen Reed, the safety out of
Penn State. Jordan Hancock, the safety out of Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (18:23):
Highly slot capable, good athletes. Yeah, we just took a
d back, but I wouldn't have a problem with that.
He'd finds somewhere to be used in the next couple
of years.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Smel Mondon the linebacker from Georgia. Craig Woodson, the safety
from cal I. Like him too, Bill Alekney from Western Michigan.
He's a little different than Wally is Canada. Mumfield the
wide receiver from pitt Andrew Armstrong the wide receiver from Arkansas.
Jalen Travis, the offensive tackle from Iowa State. Caleb Rogers,
(18:55):
tackle from Texas Tech.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
He's not a bad player there. Texas amazing attack or guard. Yeah,
it'll be two of those.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Jared Harrison Hunt the defensive lineman from SMU Athletic, Marcus Harris,
defensive lineman from Auburn. Just look at Jackson Hawes still there,
tight end from Georgia Tech.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
Who are you looking at? I like some of the
details a value, you know.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
I like Jackson Hawes a lot.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
Right.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Colin Oliver, the edge rusher out of Oklahoma State, I
like him too.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
Missed him do that route, but it's not a bad call.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Had seven sacks two years ago, missed some time this year,
but six two to forty so mm hmm. You know
I'm kind of planning ahead there.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Yeah, right right. You never can have too many and
kind of go off the board with the tight end
of the edge.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
We got the extra pick back.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
Yeah, it was the key there.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
So we got to pick that we can use on
one of those players, one of those kind of guys.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
Hmm.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
So you'd have to ask yourself which one has the
best path to playing time?
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Well, the edge is a special team, yeah, no question.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Can Jackson hasby a special teams guy? I think he could.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Yeah, but he's probably like the up back on the
kickoff team more he's on field goal unit. I mean
like things that aren't hard to find. Yeah, he's untackling anybody.
He is nasty though.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
You don't take Colin Oliver. Okay, I haven't done that,
but he is really really a deep edge class.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
You got an extra pick, throw one in the mix. Yeah,
I mean it could hit hard.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Jeremiah Moon right and maybe be herbig next year, her
big leaving.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Yeah yeah, just develop them.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Yeah, all right, We're about now up at two thirty
six top players available. Jalen Reed is still there, safety
out of Penn State. Jalen Travis, the tackle from Iowa State.
Caleb Rodgers, tackle from Texas Tech. Jared Harrison Hunt, the
defensive lineman from SMU.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
Still there. I'd still consider Rogers. Uh.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
You got Marcus Harris, the defensive lineman from Auburn. Bryce
uh cab or calub Caleb Do the offensive tackle from Kansas.
Cory Black, cornerback from Oklahoma State. Za Frasier still there,
Max and Hook the safety at a Toledo. Uh yet,
(21:12):
Nico Reid cornerback from Oregon, Rayon Lane safety from Navy.
He's an athletic young man, just seeing who else sticks
out of her. John Quavius Marks the running back. From
Usc catches the ball really well.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
Leaning towards Rogers.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
LeQuinn Allen running back from Syracuse.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
Rogers or Savania can be a tackle that would be wonderful.
If not, they're both going to be guard capable. I
think I'd go with another alignment.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Okay, let me take Cayleb Rodgers over the Jalen traus.
Caleb Rodgers is he give up fifteen sacks in twenty
twenty two six, five, three, ten. He's also twenty three
and a half, is a little older. He is fifty
five career starts.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
I know what's his face? Thorns big on him? Oh?
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Grab him all right, Caleb Rodgers, it is we.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Go one more?
Speaker 2 (22:20):
No, we're done.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
Okay, that's wrap.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
We are done. So what we came out of this
with after moving back with this Houston Texans and then
also we get the trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, so
at twenty five that was in the second round. We
got Derek Carmon at picked twenty five. We also swapped
(22:44):
a third rounder next year for a fifth rounder next
year with the Eagles to get back into the second round.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
We lost a little future draft capital.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Not much, but a lot. Yeah, to come up and
get Quinn Shawn Judkins. Yeah yeah, at sixty four. At
seventy nine, we got Jonas s iavanea mm hmm, the
offensive lineman out of Arizona. At one twenty three, we
got Cameron Jackson, the defensive nose tackle out of Florida.
At one fifty six, we got Kyle McCord, quarterback from Syracuse.
(23:12):
At one sixty eight, we got Justin Wally, the cornerback
from Minnesota. At one eighty five, we got edge rusher
Colin Oliver out of Oklahoma State. And with two thirty
six we got Caleb Rodgers, offensive tackle from Texas Tech.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
Tackle line of scrimmage. New linemen on both sides of
the ball, didn't go with the receiver through a corner
in the mix, and.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
We still have the same number of picks that we
had for next year.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Next year. Yeah, but it's not a third Now.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
We're probably gonna have five or three fifth round picks.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Which okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm cool with that draft.
It's not my favorite, it's not my least favorite. I'm
cool with it. Okay, got Harmon, that's big, Got Harmon,
got Juggins, Yeah, yeah, I mean those doing to play
a lot.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
You're gonna play a lot. Jackson probably ends up playing.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Yeah, I would think he's active every year. Thirty five
defensive snaps and say might be a starter, a trivia starter.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Yeah, a year from now. I mean, okay, let's get
to a break. He is the Matt Williamson. I'm Dale Lolly.
That was our latest mock draft on Pro Football Focus.
We will be back with more right after.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
This lest He's the Drive with Dale Lolly and Matt
Williamson on your twenty four to seven home of the
Black and Gold car Steelers Nation Radio.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Welcome back to the Drive. I am Dale Lolly. He
is the Matt Williamson and Matt Daniel Jeremiah on NFL
dot Com has just updated his top one fifty list.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
Yeah, I assume it's his final in the books. Set
it in stone.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
Yeah, he has moved Travis Hunter up to his number
one overall player. He would be mine too, bumped Abdul
Carter down. You know, I think the injury stuff with
him is a concern there. Ashton Gentes stays three, Mason
Graham stays at four. I'm just gonna mention the big
movers here, you know who the players are just right right.
He still has cam Ward at eight. It's bumped armand
(25:10):
Membo up three spots to nine. The offensive tackle out
of Missouri.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
Understandable.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Jody Barron moves up to ten. Wow, one spot up
really high for him. I think the concern is that
Will Johnson didn't move up into that spot, and there's
gonna be a corner There's gonna be two cornerbacks probably
selected in the top twenty somewhere.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
I mean Hunter aside, we're actually talking about this on
different show today. Johnson versus Baron. They're so different, but
they're probably competing for first defensive back off the board
other than Hunter.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Yeah, you know, Will Campbell bumps down a spot to eleven.
G Hud Campbell bumps down three spots to twelve, the
linebacker out of Alabama, and I think you know he
had the surgery.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
He's got some injury stuff too.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
Yeah, you know that's concerning.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
Yeah, you're gonna use a fifteenth pick on a guy
that's coming off pretty good, big injury.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Omari and Hampton at thirteen. They running back out of
North Carolina. There's not much not the like about him.
Matthew Golden bumps up two spots to be his really
his number one.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
Pure wide receiver. He has a McMillan.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Yeah, Nick, am you worry at fifteen? Will Johnson, as
we just talked about, bumps down two spots to sixteen.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Really like a corner to run.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Yeah, Tyler Booker moves up three spots to seventeen. The
guard out of Alabama.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
He's sluggish, man, that's tough. That's tough.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
A Mecca. Agbuka, the wide receiver out of Ohio State,
bumps down a spot to eighteen, so he has him
ahead of Tech McMillan.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
I get people loving big Buka. I mean that's pretty high.
But yeah, I think he's going to be He's a
solid player. He's a good player. You know.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Right at nineteen is tep McMillan down a spot, so
the Pickton is really very at twenty down a spot
should door Sanders.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
It's probably about where he belongs. Yeah, I mean, I
bet there's some edge rushers we haven't brought up that
I put ahead of them just in terms of grade.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
And you know, well twenty one is Mike Greene. I
think Green's better at what he does, and with twenty
two is Mike kel Williams. I like both those guys,
but yeah, twenty three, up four spots is Shamar Stewart.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
This is they're a bunch all together.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
Yeah, Derek Harmon, the defensive tackle out of Oregon. Down
a spot to twenty four, but he's ahead of Grant
or Nolan. Yes fair Up four spots at twenty five
is Malachi Starks was already listed right, Yeah, down two spots.
At twenty six is Grey's Abel, the offensive lineman from
(27:42):
North Dakota State.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
Like, I think's Abel's much better than Booker. They're different, obviously,
but I mean, nicely have one of those safeties off
the board in the top twenty two, yeah, even just one.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
At twenty seven, up four spots is Kelvin Banks Junior.
I'd love to see him going to offensive tackle from Texas.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
I have some doubts about him.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
Twenty eight is Walter Nolan there. Twenty nine, up three spots.
LSU tight end Mason Taylor.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
Getting a lot of inkling that maybe the Chiefs or
Eagles pulled the trigger on him. I mean, Goddard could
get traded. Kelsey, we know is not long for this
league anymore, you know.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
Yeah, at thirty down five spots. Donovan Azeriku, the edge
rusher out of Boston College.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
I like him.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
Thirty one down a spot is Kenneth Graham, the defensive
tackle out of Michigan.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
I would have him way higher than that.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
At thirty two, up two spots. Trayvon Henderson, the running
back out of Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
High quality prospect. I mean you say this all the time.
This area would be really hard to rank. Yeah, if
any of these guys were ten high or ten lower,
I get it.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Yeah, down seven spots. The thirty three is James Pierce,
the edge rusher out of Tennessee.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
I don't know what he does against the run. I
mean I think he's kind of a specialty player.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
Thirty four is Maxwell Harriston, the Kentucky cornerback. That's up
a spot, a little small. Thirty five down two spots
is Luther Burden, the wide receiver out of Missouri.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
If he's motivated and bought in, he's higher than that.
If he's walking around like he did this past year,
he's lower than that.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
At thirty six, holding steady as Jackson Dart.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
Okay, that might be early too, just on pure rankings,
not value.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Thirty seven Josh Simmons, the offensive tackle out of Ohio State,
and he says the main question with Simmons is his health.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
I mean, if he had them tenth, i'd understand too.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Thirty eight is quinnshot Judkins, running back out of Ohio State.
Thirty nine is Josh Connerley, the offensive tackle out of Oregon.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
Those two tackles, I could see keeping them close together. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
Carson Swashing, you're up four spots to forty, the linebacker
out of UCLA.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
There was such I mean, I know the Steelers aren't this,
but there was such a small amount of starting off
the ball linebackers available in free agency. If you don't
get Campbell, which is he's gonna go in the first round.
I could see sweation and you're going pretty high just
because he's after him. I hadn't had no clue who
to put his my third insideline backer.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
I still think to me, the Georgia kid is an
off ball line Yeah, but he's gonna be gone too.
It'll be gone.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
Trey Amos at forty two, holding steady up three spots.
Landon Jackson, the edge rusher out of Arkansas.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
I see that three quality Number two you know.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Down four spots to forty four is Benjamin Morrison and
Notre Dame cornerback.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
He knew them down. Yeah, I'm just these injury guys.
I just wonder if they're going up or downy Revel
and Simmons.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Forty five up four spots is Nick Scourton, the edge
rusher out of Texas A and M.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
I think he's pretty safe too.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Yeah. At forty six, moving into his rankings, Jaden Higgins
at wide receiver Iowa State.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
Forty seven is Jonas Ivania. He was unranked as well
his top fifty before.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
Yeah, I mean he tested really well, and I mean
even if he's just a guard, I could see liking
him more than Booker.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
At forty eight, down a spot is Toledo defensive tackle
Darius Alexander.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
He fits everything the Steelers are looking for. Not a
big school guy and he's a little older, but boy,
hit fit him well.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
J T. Twomloa, the edge rusher out of Ohio State,
moves into the rankings at forty nine.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
He's good.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
At fifty, moving into his top fifty rankings with Jalen Noel,
the other Iowa state wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Yeah, some of these Welker types are starting to fade away.
I mean the league is looking for a vertical slot
like like a Knoll, you know, I mean one of
these guys. They don't want just little quick guys in
the slot. Now, yeah, they'll be able to stretch it
a little bit.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
Some other names of interest here because he always did
his top fifty before. Yeah, it didn't quite make it.
Elijah Rojo, tight end out of Miamia run. Jack Beck,
wide receiver at a TCU.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
He didn't run.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
Caleb Johnson, the running back out of Iowa. Noel Williams,
the cornerback out of Cal.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
He always talks about the Cal defensive backfield is just
vastly underrated.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
If you can get Noel in the fourth or fifth round, Williams,
good play me too, Me too. Jared Wilson, the center
out of Georgia at fifty five. He tested really well.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
I think he'll be a starter.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Kyle Williams, he has at fifty seven, the wide receiver
at of Washington State. Azeri A. Thomas, the cornerback out
of Florida State, is at sixty.
Speaker 3 (32:42):
That's about right. I mean, if he goes the end
of the second round of the bills or something. I
would totally understand.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
He's got Miles Fraser, the LSU guard and Tate Ratledge
the Georgia guard at sixty one and sixty two, right
next to each other.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
I totally get that too. They both have some nastiness. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
Alfred Collins at defensive tacklead of Texas comes in at
sixty six. Right behind him is Tyler Williams, the nose
tackle out of Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
Different but similar in terms of helping to run now
and then see what they bring.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
His pass rusher, Yeah, sixty eight is Dylan Sampson, the
running back out of Tennessee. Shavon Ravel the Caroline East
Carolina cornerback. All the way down at seventy one.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
I wonder if he's not hearing great things medically. I mean,
small school corner that didn't play in the Senior Bowl
or give you much test, you know, much tape against
like Ohio State. It's a tough sell, but it could
pay off huge.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Yeah. At seventy five, he has Tyler Shuck, quarterback out
of Louisville.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
Okay, did he have Milroe yet? No? Okay.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
Josh Farmer at seventy seven, defensive tackle out of Florida State.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
Sign me up as a quality third rounder, all day
on him.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Yeah, let's see here. Ariante three all the way down
at eighty three, the offensive tackle out of Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
He's got work to do, but there's tolls there.
Speaker 2 (34:05):
Right ahead of Emery Jones, the LSU offensive tech. Okay,
you must think he can play tackle. If he's gonna miss,
I would.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
Think I'd say the same thing. There's some up and
down to his tape, I mean, but there's traits there
and if he's a tackle that goes along way.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
At eighty five is will Howard, the quarterback from Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
Ahead of Milrow.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
Eighty six is Jaylen Milroe, the quarterback from Alabama.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
I mean, depending what you're looking for, they're pretty different.
They're both good athletes, a great athlete.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Eighty eight is Charles Grant to William and Mary offensive tackle.
Eighty nine is Shamar Turner, the Texas A and M
defensive tackle.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
It'd be a good stealer too. We don't give him
enough publicity. Place hard.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
Jalen Royals, the wide receiver from Utah State. All the
way down to ninety three, I say, all the way down,
that's the spot in this draft. Justin Wally, who he
just took later at ninety four, the Minnesota cornerback.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
His name keeps popping up more and more and more.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
Isaac Tesla, the Arkansas wide receiver at ninety five.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
I'd really like him in fifth round or so.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Jamari Calbwell, the Oregon defensive tackle at ninety seven.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
Not a lot of pure noses as you mentioned. No, TJ.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Sanders the South Carolina he'd be a three to four
end here. Yeah, yeah, at ninety eight, followed by r J. Harvey,
the UCF running back. This area is strong, it's nice.
Ahead of Cam Scatabow, who's at one o two, I
prefer Harvey. At one oh three. Is Ty Robinson, Nebraska
defensive tackle.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
I'd love to see him in black and gold. It'd
have to be in the fourthish round.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
Third round, yeah, right after him as Elijah Roberts, the
SMU defensive tackle. Okay, let's see here Riley Mills from
Notre Dame at one oh eight, really defensive tackle.
Speaker 3 (35:48):
High you got.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
Let's see here, Jalene he's really high on Quincy Riley
and Jalen Smith. He's got Riley at one thirteen and
Jalen Smith, cornerback out of USC at one fourteen.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
Okay, some of these mid round corners are pretty intriguing.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
Yeah, get some tools.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
Yeah, Yeah, there's some stuff to build on. He's got
white some starters at yeah.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
Group Wyatt Millum, the West Virginia offensive lineman, is at
one seventeen follow see the Steelers liking him, Yeah, followed
by Anthony Belton, the off NC State offensive tackle.
Speaker 3 (36:19):
Okay, I think Belton will stay at tackle or at
least start there.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
One nineteen is quinn Ewers quarterback out of Texas. One
twenty is Bachelle Tooton, the Virginia Tech running back.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
I mean he's some there's some rottenness to his game,
but there's a lot to work with there too.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
At one twenty one is alekayemanor I'm a fan Stanford
wide receiver. Guys has him just ahead of saving On Williams,
the TCU wide receiver at one twenty three.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
He's just kid wide receiver.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
Continue to drift down.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
Yeah, what is he? He's less and less?
Speaker 2 (36:52):
Yeah? Uh. Upton Stout at one twenty five the Western
Kentucky slot corner, but I think he's also a gunner.
And yeah, all kinds of good stuff there. Denzel Burke
at one twenty sixth the Ohio State cornerback. Let's see here.
DJ Giddon's at one thirty the k State running back.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
He's an athlete that could could hit big for you. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
Jordan Hancock, the Ohio State cornerback at one thirty three.
I don't know if he's a.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
Safety, a slot, a corner, and today's I don't really care, right.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
Ty Hamilton, the other Ohio State defensive tackle at one
thirty four, followed by JJ Pegee, the Mississippi defensive tackle.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
Hamilton slept on a little bit. Yeah, I don't know
if he fits perfect here, but no one ever brings
his name up.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
Kyle McCord, the quarterback out of Syracuses at one thirty eight.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Would you take him ahead of yours and Howard if
you depict from like those three? I think yours would
be last for me.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
Yeah, he's tiny.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
I don't know. I don't see the great trades.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
I don't either. Olie Gordon at one forty one, the
running back out of Oklahoma State. Rutgers defensive tackle Keyante
Hamilton is at one forty two.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
What's he's listed at heightweight.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
He is listed at you're gonna ask me that, Yeah,
I looked on it before six three, three hundred pounds.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
And she's kind of middle of the road in terms
of Yeah.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
Played in fifty one consecutive games in his college career though.
That's really pretty impressive. Actually, Rutgers guys always play hard. Yeah, no,
I yeah, I lost my spot here on the on
the mock because I had asked me a question.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
Jeez, guy, I.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
Really haven't honestly haven't done a lot of homework.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
On him, mean neither. I didn't know what is that
didn't much about him.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
That's why Trevor ATM at one forty three, the Georgia
running back, CJ. West at one forty four, the defensive
tackle out of Indiana.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
I would gladly think hibout that price.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
Yeah, Devin Neil at one forty six, the Kansas running back.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
The group of running backs is still strong. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (38:58):
Breschard Smith is at one forty nine smu just pure
speed and Yaha Black at one fifty the Iowa defensive tackle.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
His game sticks around.
Speaker 2 (39:08):
Yeah, it lasts, you know, he's just a big power player.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
Him and Tim Smith. I always think of together. Yeah,
just rocks in the middle with the don't let anybody
move you. Yeah, yeah, just be a bully. Yeah, that's
kind of what they are. That was That was DJ's
one fifty okay, and it's a little different. He puts
a lot of pride in that he stands by it,
and you know, most of it's what he sees. But
I'm sure there's somebody hears too.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
Yeah, some of those guys that moved up into the
top thirty two might be of interest, might be the reason, Like, really,
in this draft, is there a reason why you bump,
for example, Treyvon Henderson to thirty two, just to say,
right him as the thirty second best.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
Guy, like you can keep hearing him to Denver, Yeah,
which I'd be fine with. I would mind him going
on off the board in the top twenty.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
Especially if they took him over Omari and Hampton and
you were like I.
Speaker 3 (39:55):
Was thinking all three might be gone. Maybe Yeah, if
Gent goes to the Raiders and the Bears take Hampton,
I could see that's best case scenario.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
You're genty to Jacksonville.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
I threw that out there on our last mock, just
out of the blue, Like if I'm the Jags. I
don't like any of my options. Just give me the
best player. Yeah, I think that makes all the sense
in the world. People think of talking about giving them
like Walker off the Edge. I'm like, it's not what
they need at all, and it's that special and I
don't see it. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
Anyways, that was DJ's top one fifty here. I'm sure
sure probably come up with his top his final mock
here in the next couple of years.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
Yeah, that's probably right down to the wire.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
See a lot of that coming out here over the
next couple of days. Everybody doing their final mock draft.
We'll do our final mock draft for this show on Wednesday. Okay,
that works me not trade it all. See how it goes,
See how it goes. But anyways, he is Matt Williamson.
I am Dale, Lollie. You're listening to the Driver on
the Steelers Audio Network. And of course you can hear
the Drive every Monday through Friday, not this week because
(40:53):
I'd be doing all draft stuff Bay Saturdays. Yeah, but
you can hear U see on these very airways. You
can also download the Steelers mobile app get all the
shows there. You can just actually just play that on
your phone all draft weekend. Yes, we'll have shows.
Speaker 3 (41:09):
Yeah, they just do that.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
Or you can watch along on YouTube and leave us
your comments there, give us the thumbs up. We appreciate that.
We will be back to finish up the show right
after this.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
At least.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
He's the Drive with Dale Lolly and Matt Williamson on
your twenty four to seven home of the Black and
Gold cast in Steelers Nation.
Speaker 3 (41:32):
Radioken, welcome back.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
I am Dale Lolly, he is the Matt Williamson and
Matt the Ravens apparently opened their OTA sessions today.
Speaker 3 (41:47):
Oh really, because I saw a lot of stuff.
Speaker 2 (41:48):
From Linderbaum and Kyle Hamilton talking about how they haven't
had any contract talks yet.
Speaker 3 (41:53):
Yeah right, I mean that's gonna be harry for those guys.
I mean it's always a great problem to have players
you want to pay, right, but fifth year option we've
gone into a lot of detail with those two is
really pricey, especially for Linderbaum because center is just the center. Yeah,
you got to pay them like a tackle, which is
a loophole really or a problem with the CBA that
I hope they addressed. Going for would just be better.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
And I bet people were like, the players, here's the
problem with that. The nfl PA probably doesn't want that addressed.
Speaker 3 (42:22):
Why is that? Why would you all?
Speaker 2 (42:24):
Because they're representing the players, and the players get more money.
Speaker 3 (42:27):
Yeah, but not if you don't get the tag. I mean,
if you're a Linderbomb and they say we're just gonna
give it to you.
Speaker 2 (42:31):
If you're then then he's gonna hit free agency and
you're happy regardless.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
Yeah, I mean, they'd make a lot of money on
the open market. Yeah, that's for sure. I'm sure some
people might maybe weren't listening last week. What do you mean,
O ta's are starting now, they've even made their draft picks.
This version of OTAs is like as light as they get. Yeah,
I mean there's like you're the optional as they get too,
you know. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (42:54):
So for Linderbaum, for example, Cam Jurgens just signed a
new deal. Oh did he with the with the Eagles
four year contract extension at sixty eight million dollars okay,
thirty nine point four million guaranteed. Now that's a shade
under twenty million per year. That's seventeen ish.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Hamilton'll come in and have here in that.
Speaker 2 (43:19):
You mean Linderbaum.
Speaker 3 (43:21):
Yes, I'm sorry, Linderbaum will make more than that, I believe.
Speaker 2 (43:26):
And there there in lies the the rub with this.
If you're you're the Ravens, you're like, oh, man, I
don't I don't like to see that.
Speaker 3 (43:34):
Yeah, I've mocked Booker to them a lot. Maybe a
first round guard doesn't make sense for the same reason
when it is fifty year option time.
Speaker 2 (43:43):
Yeah, maybe just wait till the second take me pay
all these interior linemen all this, right, even.
Speaker 3 (43:47):
If the sky hits and you're hoping he hits, and
that's a good problem to have.
Speaker 2 (43:50):
But now we're paying two interior offensive lineman.
Speaker 3 (43:53):
Forty five million between them or something like that. Right.
The caps is going up, of course, of course, but right,
I mean the cost is I mean, like significant Steers
had a lot of success with pouncing next to the castro,
But think about that what that would cost now now,
I mean maybe the top of the line center.
Speaker 2 (44:11):
Yeah, it makes you know. I don't think that the
fifty year option is as valuable now as it used
to be.
Speaker 3 (44:16):
I don't either. I don't either. That's why I know
they've never done it. But if you trade out a
round one it's like you're probably not gonna use the
fifty year option anyway, and you can still make a contract.
You know, you could extend pickings. Now he was on
a first round pick, you know, I mean, I get it.
Speaker 2 (44:32):
There, there's you more leeway now I understand if you
like to another year, if you like the player. You
like the player, yeah, yeah, yeah, And there's great value
in not moving out of the first round.
Speaker 3 (44:44):
Like you might be real happy when Roder Jones's time
comes up to you know, is we have that extra year,
more year to think about things.
Speaker 2 (44:51):
Yeah, but it's it's just you know, with the way
that is all slotted down to this new CBA. And again,
if you play goes to a Pro Bowl, that's not
a very high bar.
Speaker 3 (45:03):
No, it's a lot different than he's an All Pro.
Speaker 2 (45:06):
But all of a sudden, now at kicks in, he's
making an additional four million dollars fully guaranteed in that
fifth year, and it's.
Speaker 3 (45:12):
Like it's a lot for a lining back or some
of somebody's safety, some of those positions where he's not
an All Pro. But he went to a Pro Bowl,
and now I got to pay him that.
Speaker 2 (45:22):
Tyler Huntley went to a probral, right, like.
Speaker 3 (45:25):
A lot of these guys down the line, it doesn't
take that much.
Speaker 2 (45:27):
Yeah, so just that that might be something that the
league looks at or they talked to the NFLPA about
and said, hey, let's changed let's change the parameters there
a little bit that may make sense just making the
Pro Bowl. It is not like you should have to
be voted to the Pro Bowl.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
Yeah, that may be at least something not I end
up going to the event.
Speaker 2 (45:46):
I'm the Yeah, I'm the sixth alternate and I go
to the Pro Bowl, and now all of a sudden,
the team's got to pay me an additional eight million
dollars when my my fifty year option comes up.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
But back to your original point, I am really interested
to see how the Hamilton linderbomb stuff shit.
Speaker 2 (45:59):
Kind of surprise. Haven't had any contract talks with those guys.
Speaker 3 (46:02):
Yeah yet, I've seen and Stark's both mocked to the Ravens.
But I would not be comfortable letting Hamilton go, even
if I use the first round pick on a safety.
Speaker 2 (46:12):
Yeah, you know, I mean you get yourself into a
similar situation if you do that, if you go that route,
where now you might be paying you your two starting
safeties a ton a ton of money.
Speaker 3 (46:24):
And Rokwan's a big one too. I mean, not everyone's
paying a linebacker top of the line money. They are.
Speaker 2 (46:29):
Yeah, you know, it's an interesting dynamic, it is.
Speaker 3 (46:32):
I mean they're they're rushers. Now that's a good point too.
Maybe that's the first round pick was here too. Yeah,
now they're they're I like where their roster's at. But
there is some juggling to be done here coming up,
yeah for sure. But Matt, that's going to do it
for today's show.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
Happy Draft Week, Happy Draft Week to you, Happy Draft
Week to everybody out there listening.
Speaker 3 (46:54):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
We will be back again tomorrow to talk well, probably
more draft I would think for a yeah, unless this
sounds about this, a certain quarterback decides that he's going
to sign his name on the dotted line.
Speaker 3 (47:06):
I don't expect a whole lot of news between now
and I do not either Thursday. No, I do either.
Speaker 2 (47:11):
But for my partner Matt Williamson, for Justin Miller here
on site running the soundboard and the Justin Miller hotline,
and for Tyler Viittmeyer making sure that our video gets
out there on the YouTube. Check that out. There give
