Speaker 1 (00:03):
At least he is the Drive with Dale Lolly and
Matt Williamson on your twenty four to seven home of
the Black and Gold in Steelers Nation Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Welcome back. I am Dale LOLLI he is Matt Williamson
and this is our number two of the drive here
on the Steelers Audio Network. And Matt Well, our friend
Dame Brugler has come out with his uh yeah, mock
draft for twenty twenty six.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
That poor guy, by the way, I mean he puts
out the Beast, which we've talked about to no end,
is an unbelievable publication that he works on all year,
and frankly, I know he has notes for next year already,
and then he works the draft and is on every
radio thing in the country. And I remember him even saying,
like when he goes to the combine, his goal was
to tell nobody, no anyone that asked him to come on.

(00:56):
He says, yes some, which explains why he's on with us.
You're right, right, right exactly, So even hangs out with us.
Then he does all the draft coverage, and then yesterday
he has he does all of his grades, he ranks
him one to thirty two, and then today he does
a way too early mock draft, like, give the guy
a break.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Well, I don't like to call them the way too
early mock draft because everybody does that. Yeah, yea, he
find way too early, Marck, it's clever. No, that's just
an early mock draft. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's never way
too early.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
What's way too early? I mean, twenty twenty nine is
not too early?

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Yeah, right, right, right.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
So I've seen a couple of them pop up, and
I don't know any of the names yet.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
I haven't looked at him. Yeh, let's just roll through.
I don't know really the names either, but you know, this.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Is usually the first time I hear most of these names. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Uh. So he has arch Manning going number one to
the Saints, but he notes that at this point, scouts
believe there's a good chance Manning returns to school for
his fourth year in twenty twenty six.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
What's he make a year, Texas? I bet it's pretty good. Yeah,
And I'm pretty sure his family's got a little bit
of money tucked.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Away, right, So stay in college face.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
I mean, if you're gonna be first overall, maybe, but
we're not. Probably a good life, probably in me first
overall next year, Yeah, take ballroom dancing, make five million,
maybe win national title. You know, it's probably a cute
girl or two of Texas eat pizza buds. Yeah, it's
not a bad life.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Uh. At two, he has a side note.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
This is the thing that makes me crazy is if
you look at the comments, like on ESPN dot com
or whatever, every Saints fan, I'll be like, how dare
you think we pick first overall? They just pick it
out of the It's not like it's personal.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Right at two, he has the Jets picking and taking
Leonora's Sellers quarterback from South Carolina? Yeah, how could they
do that to Justin Fields? Right? Right? Right?

Speaker 3 (02:50):
He's the long term answer. He's going to solve all
the problems. I hope he does, but I hope. So
there's a better chance they're in the quarterback market than not. Yeah,
especially they picked two.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Right at three, he has the Giants taking so you
think they're Giants two and three. So what's kind of
interesting though, Will somebody in New York please put together
a good football team? Yeah, there were will be a
better place.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
But it's also a good way of looking at who
might the Steelers be competing for?

Speaker 2 (03:18):
For first round quarterback. This is why I'm going through this.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Like I don't think the Giants will
be one of them.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
The Giants taking offensive tackle Spencer Fano from.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Utah Okay, first I've ever heard that name. I know
that Bama's got a stud tack.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
They didn't pick up the fifty year option on Evan Neil,
so yeah. At four, the Titans, well, they won't be
in the quarterback market. They take edge rusher, TJ. Martin
or TJ. Parker I'm sorry, from Clemson. Okay, again, and
I don't know any of these names. At five, the Browns,

(03:50):
I would think they're in the quarterback market. Take Maybe
they don't take Drew Aller quarterback from Penn State.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
There's really mixed reviews around here about him. I'm seems
like most people that watch Penn State all the time
do not see him in that light.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
No, I don't.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Yeah, big, strong, fast, but not precise by any catch
from what I make. Big mistakes and big moments, that's
what I hear. Yeah, but again.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Keeping track, that's three teams so far. If they're picking
fifth and they traded that, that's other they traded that
back this year. To get a second first round draft, right,
Dave Jacksonville. Presumably in case they have to move up,
But if it's a Saints and Jets, it's up top.
They're not moving back. That's the thing. They're going to
take a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
It's like you could try to get Ward off the Titans,
but they're not.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Letting you right, right, So maybe you can move up
to three, but that doesn't do you any good, right
unless you're trying to stop somebody from jumping ahead of you.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
I mean, if the Patriots and Titans of the first
two picks, well then they definitely get the three.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Yeah, right, Yeah. At six, the Carolina Panthers take Keldrick Falk,
defensive tackle from Auburn.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
I'm going to put them in the quarterback needy team
even if they picked top five. Yeah, I mean, they
would be a conversation. And he gave up this, They
gave up too much, right, right, they were still picking
this year's draft. The finished off that trade, and McMillan's
there to make his life easier. Whether you think that's
the right pick or not.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
You know. At seven, the Raiders take Caleb Down's safety
out of Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
People thought him like he's a total stud, best player
on a defense. If they're picking top ten, they're probably
in the quarterback market because things didn't go well. They're
hapfy for me.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
I don't know. I don't. I don't think they will
be because I think again, I think they're in it
to win it now. They extended them. He Carol's not
getting any younger, right, they would have to.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
I mean it would have to be a top five
type of pick.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Yeah. The quarterback's too good. Yeah, Like, I don't think
they're going to be picking seven.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
I think they'll be better than that too. Crosby and
Wilkins and Gino and they got some dude.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Carol's a good coach. They'll they'll win a couple of
games that they probably shouldn't.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
We say that all the time. They'll get to the
Steelers coaches, that guy, they'll get.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
The seven or eight wins. And you know it's hard
for those coaches to be four and thirteen, it really is.
They're just not gonna make the mistakes that lose games. Right.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Sean Payton doesn't do that. Peter Carroll doesn't do that right.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
At eight, the Colts take Caden Proctor, offensive tackle from Alabama.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
I'm gonna put them in the potential quarterback needed potentially, Yeah,
if they're picking top, if they're picking eight dish things.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Didn't go well, they could they could go back and forth.
They those guys at nine, the Browns with their pick
from Jacksonville. Okay, I'm not gonna count them twice. Take
offensive tackle Austin Barber from Florida taking him this year
he wasn't available. Yeah, but again you look at that,
that's a bunch of offensive linemen in the first.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
No, maybe they think this is a good oline class.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
That's three and the top nine picks offensive tackles.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
I mean we always say this, you never know, but
I would think next year's class it's got to be
better than this year's line.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
And offensive tackle is a little more safe than quarterback.
Like those guys are definitely knowing who's coming out. You know, boy,
you know the body types there that's not changing. They
don't get hurt. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Yeah, Yeah, I'm the kid at Georgia that was a
five star that now is finally up.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Yeah. You see him coming them out away literally. Yeah.
Ten the Patriots take mateo Oogla Gahey or edge rusher
out of Oregon. I can't remember who a Guylai, we're
a gaily. I don't know, we'll learn it. Edge rusher
from Oregon. I got a whole year to learn that one. Uh.

(07:29):
At eleven, the Rams take this is the pick they
got from Atlanta, Jermond McCoy, cornerback from Tennessee.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
I'm gonna lump them in the yes is though, especially
with two first round picks, it might be time to
use a first round pick on a quarterback at Stafford's.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
I've heard some stuff about McCoy though. He's pretty good.
What position? Cornerback? I he's the first cornerback off the board.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Yeah, he's the hot name. Yeah, what's cool again?

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Tennessee. At twelve, the Seahawks take Anthony Hill, junior linebacker
from Texas.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
I have seen him. He's really impressive. I don't know
if they'd be in the market or not. You got
Milrose sitting there, but he might not do a thing
this year.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Who knows. I don't think they will be. I think
they'll thank you'll let that play with I think I
mean that coaching staff was there when Lamar got drafted.
They can they can wait.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Yeah, and Darnald can be a one year deal or
you could run it back. Yeah, I'm not gonna lump
them in the quarterbacking teams.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
The Dolphins at thirteen take Carnell Tate, wide receiver from
Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
I heard there's another. Everyone knows about Smith, but oh
you're not. No one's paying attention to the other. Clear
first round pick and wide receiver for Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
At fourteen, the Cowboys take Jeremiah Love running back from
Notre Dame. I've heard really good things about him, very
good idea. Yeah, okay. Fifteen, the Cardinals take CJ. Allen,
linebacker from Georgia. I believe you. At sixteen, the steel
take Garrett and this Meyer quarterback Lsu. He's definitely one

(09:04):
of the names. Yeah right, and they could you know,
if they're picking sixteen or more in that range, they
can they can bump up to go get a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
I mean, if that's the case, I would have no
hesitation trading twenty twenty seven first.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
To get to five. If there's a guy you love, Yeah,
you're not gonna trade to five in this instance with Cleveland,
but wow, what mean yea high? At seventeen, the Bears
take Ruben Bain junior ed rusher out of Miami. Yeah.
Eighteen the Broncos. The Bears aren't gonna be in a quarterback.
The Broncos aren't a quarterback market. Kenyst these teams that

(09:40):
recently haven't been. The Broncos take Kenyon Sadiq, tight end
from Oregon. Okay, they just had a tight end draft. Yeah. Nineteen,
the Buccaneers take lt Overton, defensive tackle from Alabama. They're
not in the market for a quarterback. No, I got
five so far. At twenty Houston not in the market
for a quarterback, takes Peter Woods, defensive tackle from Clemson. Yeah.

(10:06):
At twenty one. Minnesota not in the market for a quarterback.
It would have to be a disaster. A year from
mcarthy take Jalen Kilgore, cornerback from South Carolina. Caroline's pumping
on kids. Twenty two the Chargers, not in the market
for a quarterback, take Tyreek Sap edge rusher out of Florida.
I wonder if he's related the Warren. I don't think so.

(10:30):
No clue, you'd think you'd go to the U, but think, yeah,
stay in state. At twenty three, San Francisco not in
the market for quarterback, not get signed. They take Cage Casey,
offensive tackle from Boise State. Another offensive tackle. At twenty four,
Green Bay, not in the market for a quarterback, takes

(10:52):
Avon Terrell, cornerback out of Clemson. That's three Clemson guys
in the Yeah, Clemson might be all right this year.
He's the younger brother of A. J. Terrell. I was
wondering that too. Actually. Yeah. At twenty five, the Commanders
take wit Weeks linebacker lsu great name. They're not taking
there to back, no chance. At twenty six the Bengals,

(11:14):
they're not taking a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Let's burrow demands of trades. He hates it.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
There, take Francis Muaga or more got maya go I
should say, offensive tackle from Miami. Yeah. A lot of tackles,
a lot of tackles. Yeah. At twenty seven, the Rams
take Fernando Mendoza, quarterback Indiana. They transfer from cal Okay
get another transfer now coming into.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
It goes out, and I guess Indiana is a desirable spot.
Detroit had never heard his name before.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Not in the market. Well, Detroit could be in the
market for quarterback and I don't see it. They're also
gonna pick late yeah, I mean, I don't think they're
gonna get top ten going quarterback. They take Antosaka, edge
rusher out of Northwestern.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
A little shock they didn't do more on the edge
this year.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Kansas City at twenty nine. They're not taking a quarterback.
Take Keanu ten of vasa defensive tackle from b Yuka.
At thirty the Bills take they're not taking Kamari Ramsey
safety at a USC kay and thirty one the Ravens.

(12:23):
They're not taking a quarterback. Take Evan Stewart, wide receiver
from Oregon.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
Okay, I've heard his name because they always said he
was better than the.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Five star recr Yeah. Uh. And thirty two the Eagles
take Jude Bowery, offensive tackle from Boston College. It's like
seven offensive tackles next.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Year, second round tackle this yeah right right?

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Trapeo played right tackle and this is the left tackle. Okay. Interesting.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
I think came up with five teams other than the Steelers.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Yeah, I'll even go through it again. The Saints okay, yeah, yeah,
that was one.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
The Jets, yes, but that's not one hundred percent if
they're terrible. Yes, the Browns, yes, but maybe Sanders is
good or I mean probably.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
The Raiders are. Maybe the Colts are.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Maybe I put the Colts as one of the five. Okay,
I didn't put the Raiders as one of the five.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Now the Browns have two picks, right, but the Jags
won't be in it, right and Atlanta won't be in it.
They don't have their pick either. New England's and no,
the Rams are A. Yes, I put the Rams. This
is my fifth one. I think yeah, Seattle, especially with
two first round picks, I think Seattle's a. No. Seattle's
like the Raiders, they would have to go really bad. Yeah, yeah,

(13:34):
Miami's and no Dallas and no Arizona.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
No, unlikely, but one of those weird ones could happen.
I get sick of you. But then he goes to
one of the teams. He goes the saying goes of
a quarter bills the same number of teams. You know
he's going to be a starter somewhere. Dacs would be
a starter somewhere.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
You know. So you know, I think you're looking at
that again, going to the team building that we just
talked about. Looking down the road, you know who's going
to need a quarterback and who doesn't. And maybe there's
somebody else emerges on this list that you didn't expect.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Baker gets hurt or something weird happening, right, you know,
but no one's an count on Rogers or Cousins to
be starters next year, probably, I.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Mean, let and let's say let's say Rogers wins the MVP.
Say Fields Fields has a good year for the Jets, right,
they win eight games? Now, maybe they're out of it.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, So okay, we came up with five
teams that are likely, like the Cults were one of them.
Maybe one of those two residents, you know, their career, maybe.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Door Sanders is a hit this year. They got four guys.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
If it's anyone with Flacco, they could be out of it, right,
you know, they just need one of the three to
look quite good. How many quarterbacks do you have going
in the first round?

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Now? This is one, two, three, five, and we.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
Had five teams besides the Steelers. Yeah, that's about right.
I mean I was curious.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Yeah, and that doesn't mean somebody doesn't fall off of
that list. Somebody else jumps onto it, though.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
Those five will not be the five quarterbacks taking in
the first round.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
I mean, Nico IAmA leaving didn't make the list. Yeah,
other people you see other way too early mock drafts.
You see him in the first roun somewhere.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
So it's I mean, in this transfer world, I have
no idea who Ohio State's next quarterback is, but I
bet he's good.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Let's put I mean, you just saw the Rams are
taking taking the guy late who's in Indiana. This is
his first year there. Right, we played at Cal before Cal.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Was I'm okay in Ohio State Michigan or going to
have somebody that they steal from a smaller school.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Did you see Carson Beck's name in there? No, what
I've seen, I would be shocked if he's at first
shocked and Drew Aller still in there, but that I know,
maybe he maybe turns it on. This year they got
a bunch of guys back lost his top receiving weapon.
Yeah yeah, yeah, So I mean I know there's ability
there with him. Well there's ability, yeah yeah, but you
know sometimes ability is not necessarily everything.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
Yeah, there's been so many quarterbacks, so we had no
clue who they were at this time. Oh yeah, Burrows,
we're this year.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
We're wasn't considered the top overall pick last year when
you were looking at these things. So it happens. Anyways,
let's get to a break. He is the Matt Williamson.
I am Dale Lelly. That was Dame Brugler's way too
early or just early, just early, just early. Look at
the twenty twenty six NFL draft. Give you an idea
of what's ahead here. Those names will change on that. Yeah,

(16:24):
it's fun to at least know the names and won't
be that again as we just did. Go start going
through and looking. Okay, who needs a quarterback at this
point coming out of the most recent draft, Like, would
Cleveland actually take another quarter that third quarterback in two years?
That's what's goofy about their draft.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
Yeah, I mean if they would only take him one
quarterback when you have you already had the two first
round picks when you made those decisions. Yeah, the Gabriel
pick makes no sense to me at all. Yeah, So
that's what they do.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
That's what they do. We'll be back with more here
on the drive right after this.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
At least he's the Drive with Dale Lolly and Matt
Williamson on your twenty four to seven home of the
Black and Gold Steelers Nation Radio.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Welcome back, I am Dale, Lolly. He is the Matt
Williamson and Matt I mentioned this yesterday, but Eric at
Holme on NFL dot Com has come out with his
post draft power ranking. Oh boy, okay, let's do it.
I can't imagine things changed greatly here based on the draft.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
No, I mean, who got a new starting quarterback or
something you didn't kind of foresee?

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Probably has like he did this. I think two weeks
into free agency was the last time he had updated.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
His power which makes sense. I mean teams added, so.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
It's been over a month in between there, so there
have been some other additions and subtractions and things of
that nature. At thirty two, he still has the Tennessee Titans.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Are they the worst team in the league. I mean,
Ward's gonna have his up and down, but they have
Lockett now, and I think the offense might be twenty seconds.
I mean, the line's not horrendous.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
I don't think they be my last pick. Yeah, yeah,
they're bad. I don't know. I don't know if they
be my last pick, but I don't know if they be.
How many opening day rookie starters are we going to
have other than Ward? None? I'd say maybe Shuck. I
don't even know if that.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
I mean, I don't think it's Sanders definitely, not Dart,
not Milroe.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
No. Yeah, at thirty one down three spots. This is
one that has changed because his last time he came
out with his power rankings. You didn't know Derek Carr situation.
Oh yeah, yeah. I mean at least he would keep
them respectable as opposed to shuck. So at thirty one
are the Saints.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
They're pretty terrible. They're pretty terrible.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
Like that would all that would almost be putting shuck
out there this year really either one of those guys,
I said, one, do you want do you want to
ruin Shuck? And I understand he's a twenty five years
soon to be twenty six year old quarterback and we
just did a mock draft for they're picking first overall
March for Arch.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
But I mean, at least they drafted a tackle two
years in a row.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
I mean, I don't know. I mean, someone's gonna play quarterback.
Somebody's got to play quarter One sold the cars as
hard as he thinks that. Maybe he looked at that
said I don't want to play behind those guys either.
I think you could get him after June first. I
don't know if you want them, but I might even
say it with the Steelers. I just think if somebody
needs was interested. Yeah. At thirty up a spot are

(19:49):
the Giants. I would put them definitely better than those
two teams. I mean, like their defenses, they would line
their skill guys are Okay Russell Wilson's NFL quarterback. Yeah,
you know they had them, you know, a bow and
the scatter bow and Jaros Alexander and Afdil Carter and

(20:10):
Vinnie Cutlets or whatever his name out there at quarterback. Yeah.
At twenty nine, I think they're better than this Jacksonville,
Oh yeah, I think they could win seven or eight
games this year. Yeah. I mean people were picking them
last year to win the division. Yeah yeah, yeah, you know,
to be the team that sneaks up on Houston.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Right, Like guy, I don't know if Hunter will be
offense and defensive Rookie of the Year, but he's a
nice pickup.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
Yeah. They need Trevor Lawrence to pull his head out
of his behind, right, I like their coach. At twenty
eight up a spot are the Browns. Browns are worse
than the Jags. That would actually be ideal if the
if the Jaguars finished twenty nine and the Browns twenty eighth,
they would love that. It's not going to happen. Browns
might be thirty two for me. They might be. I

(20:59):
mean I think their lines terrible, their quarterbacks. I think
the Saints are probably my thirty two.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
I would say, who has a worse quarterback situation than
the Browns?

Speaker 2 (21:06):
The Saints?

Speaker 3 (21:07):
If cars heard, yeah, that might be the only answer
to the test. Yeah, assuming Rogers a Steeler, you know.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
At twenty seven, are the Jets holding steady?

Speaker 3 (21:19):
Yeah, it's gonna be a tough rebuild for them. I
mean I like their draft, I like their first steps,
but they got a lot of holes.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
At twenty six holding steady? Are the Raiders?

Speaker 3 (21:30):
I bet they manufactured more than that Dante Geno Smith.
That offense won't be bad.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
It's not going to be bad, and the defense was
it'll be middle of the road. Yeah. Yeah, and again
they got a coach. At twenty five, holding steady or
the Patriots, I.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
Think I'd still be lower that That roster had nothing
last year and just one off season is not enough
for them.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
They still don't have any receivers, right, it's gonna be
digs and who they drafted Williams. Yeah right, I mean
that's still below average. Tight end's not great, you know, right,
you had to Travon Henderson.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
That's fine, but the line still needs a lot of work.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
At twenty four holding steady are the Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
I might have them even a little lower too. I
think the offense is respectable. The defenses still was so
hideous last year. I don't think it just turns around.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Yeah, twenty three of the Colts, I think that's fair.
I don't know who their quarterback is, Yeah, and I
don't either one of them is not really I don't.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
Think either one is going to like take them to
new levels. No, But whoever the better of the two is,
I think keeps.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Them out of the dungeon. Yeah, you know what I mean,
whoever that vision, maybe you're right split with the Jaguars.
Maybe you sweep the Titans. I mean the rest of
the rosters decent. Run the ball a lot, you know.
At twenty two, down two spots the Dolphins, I think
they're going the wrong direction. They're going definitely going the
wrong direction. They really got two players, Remember last year

(23:03):
at this time they were in the top ten. I know,
and I.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
Thought that case that they could be a playoff team
a year.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
The Jets were up there too, both of us goal
He look at all the shiny new toys. Yeah, I
mean all their old guys in New York at twenty one.
I bet Miami finishes worse than that when it's all said,
but they might finish last. Ramsey's not back. I mean,
you know Tyreek is going to be there for the
whole year and twenty one holding steadies Atlanta. Okay, they

(23:31):
better Penix is good or not. They better be better
than that. Everybody's getting fired. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
I think they're a really poorly run organization, but they're
what you kids, they're their GM kind of has Teflon,
I mean he's no.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
I think he was told he had to make the
move up to go get James Peers, right, which I
think is terrible. But I think he's not Teflon anymore. Right,
should be hot at twenty up two spots is Dallas?
Dallas do anything to move up.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
I like their a line. It's all young. Tylers drafted
three Tilers in the first round. By the four years,
defense is Okay.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
Who's your second receiver? I know, and say where are
the weapons coming from?

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Who's the running back? Someone they draft like the fourth
or fifth round. Yeah, I mean it's the skills bad.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
At nineteen down two spots or Seattle, it's a.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
Lot of change. I mean, I'm sure they'll be growing
pains with the offense. I guess that's fair.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
I think defense pretty decent. At eighteen up a spot Arizona.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
I was just sitting there thinking who's worse in that division?
Arizona or Seattle. I guess I'd have Arizona, Adam, it's close.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
Yeah. Yeah. At seventeen down two spots are the Steelers.
That's rough.

Speaker 3 (24:59):
But if he were to do this the day after
Rogers signed, does he say anything like, well, they don't
have quarterbacks?

Speaker 2 (25:05):
Like he just says the union with Aaron Rodgers could
be the Bread's gradually like the bread Combs signs that
a union with Aaron Rodgers could be imminent, trickled out
as a draft progressed on. You think we're leaving some
pressure wash the door. Sanders kept to bring sure Sanders
the name even in this conversation, but.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
I mean its currently constructed. I understand it. It's a
little low. It's a little low.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
I think if you had Aaron Rodgers to that equation,
I mean, I'm moving him up five spots or so. Yeah,
and I understand, Like so something you said there the
Jets and their old guys and Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, Aaron
Rodgers was one of the old guys. They had like.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
Twelve of them, Morgan Moses, and it was every that.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
They had brought in his mercenaries from outside. Yeah, just
come in, let's let's let's see what we can do here.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
We we said this time last year or training camp.
They're the most fragile team in the league.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
Yeah, top to bottom at sixteen holding Steady or the Bears.
It's a little kind of The Steelers are better than
the Bears. They don't want a whole lot lately. Like
I'm not sold on the quarterback, Like he's right, he's
still mistake prone, takes a bunch of sacks.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
Yeah, I mean their O line looks like it's in
good shape. They drafted a ton of skill. I mean
two receivers right off the bat, which I thought was
kind of a luxury pick. But it will help them.
They'd be right in the middle something. I mean, I
don't think they're far off that number.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
Though at fifteen up three spots are the forty nine Ers.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
I'd be a little concerned. I'm glad that they really
hit their D line hard, but they're a fragile bill too,
and party's about the expensive And do we know he's good?
I think he's fine, But do we know he's good?

Speaker 2 (26:52):
He's good when he has all the weapons. Do we
know if McCaffrey's play McCaffrey up? I think miss time right? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
they'd be lower.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Yeah, they lost a lot too. I didn't like their
draft either all that much. A couple of the linemen I.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Like, but yeah, at fourteen holding steady the Houston Texans,
I think i'd pushed them up. I still I still
know what's going on with their offensive line. I still
think it's going to be forestionable. It was so bad.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
My thoughts on that were it was so bad last
year that probably it's better, but that doesn't mean it's good.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
Yeah, I mean, I would certainly take the Steelers offensive
line over Houston's. Yes, hoston would Houston would trade you
that and give you more?

Speaker 1 (27:40):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (27:40):
Yeah, yeah, I'm trying to think left to right. I mean,
where are they strong?

Speaker 2 (27:45):
Yeah? Uh? At thirteen holding steady are the Chargers?

Speaker 3 (27:51):
They're fine. I didn't love their draft either. I still
think they have a lot of holes that I haven't
loved their team building other than Alt since he's been
since he showed up. I thought Hampton was a really
good player, but not the direction I would have gone,
considering their edg rushers and the tackles and receivers.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
You know, Yeah, at twelve down a spot is Cincinnati.
I don't think I can be that kind of I
don't understand putting Cincinnati that high. How do you put
Cincinnati ahead of the teams that made the playoffs last
year when they didn't make it?

Speaker 3 (28:26):
I would say the exact same thing, like, they didn't
make the playoffs and they're running it back almost verbatim.
You know, Yeah, they're gonna stink on defense and they're
gonna be great on offense.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
And what makes what makes anybody think that they've learned
their lesson yet and they're not going to get off
to another slow start.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Oh, by the way, we talked about the divisional drafts yesterday.
I think I was too kind of Cincinnati. I really
disliked their draft A lot them of the Browns are
like to of my least fair drafts.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
I mean, you said the Ohio teams didn't do well.
I agree.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
I think that's really bad. They can develop Tamar Stewart there,
I don't think.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
I don't think guards is Shamar Stewart going to help
them at all this year? He's going to be better
than Miles Murphy because right now, Miles Murphy has to
start for them.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
Right, right, and good good, you know, right, even with
Henderson back, I think it's gonna be one of the
worst defenses in the league.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
I mean offensively, Okay, no, he had a great offense.
It's fantastic. You gotta stop somebody at some point. We
saw this play out last year. Yeah, right, you they
would be much lower for me. They lost to basically
all the good teams that they played, except they beat
the Steelers at the end. They still finished with nine wins.

Speaker 3 (29:36):
I mean, a preseason cheat code is just put the
good quarterbacks high. I get that, Yay, I've done it,
you know, but the stuff around him isn't great.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
It's not great, right. I don't like their draft. Yeah,
and I'm not sold that Zach Taylor is a good coach. Oh,
I never had been right. He fell into a great
situation where I don't think he makes a big difference. No,
you know, I don't think he moves the needle with
I don't think their entire coaching staff makes moves the needle.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Super impressed with their scouting staff, un but they got
a really good quarterback.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
Yeah, you're telling me, I don't know. I think that's yeah,
at eleven up a spot, Denver.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
I'm impressed with Denver. I think he's a real coach.
They don't have a lot of holes. I thought their
draft was a little weird.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
But yeah, Johnny Barron, I get Savon Jones. I thought
everyone was JJ Harvey. I like r J Harvey. I
do too, But Kayler Johnson was on the board, Kayla
Johnson was there. I thought they took everyone around too
early except for Baron. Yeah, Pat Bryant, I was just
kind of he's.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
Big and slow. His film is better than his workout,
but there were better receivers on the board.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Yeah. I think they're a solid team though, with a
good defense at ten down three spots. The Vikings, it's
all about the quarterback. It's all about the quarter I
can't have them at ten, right, I just can't.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
I don't know if their defense got much better either,
Like if you.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
If you were going to put them, you just mentioned
what you do these preseason rankings here based on the quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
I say you could cheat and say Burrows again. Second, yeah,
they might be in terms of confidence in their current
quarterback room, they have to be near the bottom.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
Who did they signed back up? Or they traded They
traded for Sam Howell for how Yeah, but he's not
gonna Lets see the answer, right, Sam Howe and JJ McCarthy,
R McCarthy better workout.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
I really like now the ten starters around McCarthy. Sure,
you know they brought in three offense to be much
offensive line and Jefferson and Hawkinson, but they didn't help
Flores at all.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
I wasn't a big McCarthy believer to begin with. I
wasn't either my doubts. There's a reason why Michigan ran
the ball as much.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
As I like the head coach, and I think he'll
get the most out of McCarthy, But I don't know
what that ceiling is.

Speaker 2 (31:49):
Yeah, I think that have to be lower I would
have them closer to fifteen than I do ten right, right, Like,
I feel a lot better. I think the roster around
it's pretty quick good. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
Yeah, if they Kirk Cousins in the building or something,
i'd feel a.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
Lot better about it. And maybe they will. And I
don't think after trade for how I don't think so.
Right at nine down a spot, Green Bay, they're fine.
Not a lot of change. Yeah, at eight up two
spots are the Rams?

Speaker 3 (32:16):
I believe in that team. Yeah, I mean I think
mcveay's is good a coach there is in a week.

Speaker 2 (32:21):
Here's the thing, though, I don't know how you bump
them up after the draft the way they didn't have
a first round.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
But in the draft, the vikings in them got very
little in the draft. Yeah, I mean a second round
tight end.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
I don't think what if the Rams done unless you're
just bumping people down, or unless unless you move the
other teams down because what they didn't do, I don't know.
But they didn't get better in the last one. I
don't think so, No, I don't know. I mean they
talked Stafford into coming back. Yeah, that was different from
where we were at.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
I was trying to think of the timeline of when
he did this last you know, with Stafford an unknown,
the day of DeVante Adams. Maybe they didn't, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
Yeah, uh at seven up two spots is Tampa Bay.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
It's a solid organization. I like the way they draft.
I think they've established themselves as a contender basically every
year playoff contender.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
Yeah, especially in the NFC in that division too. Yeah,
it's six holding steady as Washington. I'm not there yet.
I think I might have Tampa Bay ahead of Washington.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
That team screams plexic last principal to me, too much,
too soon, And then you go get a bunch of
old guys thinking that you're over the top, and Debo
and Tunsil and now we're a two Bowl champ.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
Yeah, the league works. I mean if they and Eckler
and Wagner. I'm a huge Jayden Daniels. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
But the final four team, all those fourth downs that
you went for last year, you're not con convert eighty
percent of them, and you're not gonna get him again. Right,
everybody's now spent the entire offseason studying what you did.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
In him and him right, right, just like a great
pitcher of all schemes. I'm sure deals with this too,
you know, like you go through the league a second time,
it's a little harder.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
You know. Yeah, So at five or the Lions.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
I got no problem with that, losing two coordinators and
a bunch of coaches.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Though I didn't love what they did in the draft.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
I didn't either. They we did an NFC North breakdown.
I gave him a C minus. I was like a
bunch of guards and nose tackles.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
Yeah, they drafted like they're a super Bowl team and
we're just we're just filling in a couple of pieces here.
Instead of continuing to build on your strengths. They could
have done Tesla. Yeah like that.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
Yeah, I mean, hey, I like the trenches, but it's
a little early for ty Leek two guards, Like, are
they gonna help you now? Tesla was like your only
flashy thing. They didn't get an edge. I didn't love
their draft either. I know this sounds like blasphemous to
the NFL world, but I'm not sure Dan Campbell's a
great coach either. He has really good coordinators, He's really likable.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
You don't have really good coordinators anymore. That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
Like he he could be exposed as a good knock,
great coach.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
I'm not saying he's think it's a great motivator and
all that stuff, but I just have.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
A problem with all gas, no breaks all the time.
I think it wears this team out. They're a really
good team, though. They should be there.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
At four holding steady of the Bills.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
They really hit the defense hard, which they needed to do. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
Yeah, they can do hockey lines on defense now, defensive line.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
At three down a spot is Kansas City?

Speaker 3 (35:28):
What they did wrong? Yeah, the offensive line looks in
better shape. I don't know if Simmons will help or
not this year, but I think that's a great pick.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
Simmons. I like, no Williams. You know some of their
picks are yeah solid. This is what you do when
you know, hey, we're we're just going to continue bringing
in cornerbacks and yeah, I get Detroit did that. You
know they went heavy on the defensive backs and all
that stuff. Yeah, you can always use more. They'll be

(35:58):
fine at two. Moving up a spot Baltimore.

Speaker 3 (36:03):
Okay, I mean I'm not I don't know why you'd move,
but I think they're a really good roster. You know,
signing DeAndre Hopkins a couple of weeks ago wouldn't change.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
That doesn't change my opinion at all. I like I
like the Malachi Starks pick, like Green could pay all
that Hamilton back up in up up into the box
a little bit more.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
I don't They got a lot of picks, but other
than the first two picks, I don't know, there'll be a.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
Lot of impact. They're gonna have a new kicker, a
new kicker, which probably will be better. I don't like
his missus. His misses were from fifty plus. He was
still pretty automatic inside inside of fifty and it's just
going to be different. I mean, is hard Wear gonna
trust him as much, trust a rookie kicker as much

(36:47):
as he trusted Justin Tucker over the years. Definitely not,
definitely not right right. That's going to be armed. Yeah. Yeah,
So Eagles are one, and the Eagles are one.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
Yeah, they kept on and Campbell. I mean, their linebackers
are strong. Secondary looks as good as it was. I
guess the d line's.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
A little less. They got Ty Robinson. They did get
Ty Robinson's your dude. Yeah, they'll be good. Yeah, they'll
be fine. Yeah, got her?

Speaker 3 (37:15):
Didn't they stay healthy? You know, their d line got
hit a little bit in free agency.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
I don't know that they automatically are cake walk to
the championship again. No, no, no, I mean they would
be my one.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Yeah, I mean yeah, but yeah, it's not like the
Super Bowl team that got hit super hard and they
did lose a coordinator, but they.

Speaker 2 (37:38):
Lost some depth and they lost some dudes. But yeah,
they're a good team. If I had you, if you
had to pick right now, you get the Eagles to
repeat for the super Bowl, or you get the field.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
Oh, definitely the field. Yeah I would too. Yeah, I'm
not even sure my second choice would be. But I
would take the field over your top two choices.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
It wouldn't be Baltimore. It might be the Bills, might
be the Bills or Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (38:05):
Yeah, I think it would be the Bills. Yeah, I
just I still would take the field. Yeah, if you
have two teams or the field, I'd take the field.

Speaker 2 (38:14):
If I give you. If I give you Eagles, Bills
and Chiefs, would you still take the field? No? NFC
pass pretty nice, It is pretty nice. But Detroit is still there.

Speaker 3 (38:28):
How about this would you take just to make the
Super Bowl? Would you take the Eagles or the fifteen
NFC teams? I think I take the fifteen.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
I'd take the fifteen NFC teams. Yeah, yeah, I could
see Tampa beating them. I could see Detroit Brams almost did.
Should have. Yeah, I definitely Thoughtson doesn't lose his mind
at the end of the team.

Speaker 3 (38:46):
There'll be some team we're not thinking about. That's good,
you know. Yeah, And there can be injuries. I don't
know what their status is. That's in December, right, That's
the thing that would definitely take the other fifteen. Okay, yeah,
we'll see how this all plays out. But that was
Eric at home. Should I say, way too early? Power
right in the middle of things. Now, it's just power ranking,
power rankings. Let's go Probably he'll probably do them.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
Every week though, no, we're not gonna do them every week,
but he'll probably do them once everybody's done with mini
camp camp. Yeah yeah, heading into training camp at some point.
So anyways, let's get to another break. He is the
Matt Williamson. I am Dale Lolly. You're listening to the
drive here on the Steelers Audio Network, and of course
you can hear the Drive right here on these very

(39:29):
airways wherever you're listening now or watching now. You can
also download the Steelers Mobile app and hear the show
on there whenever you want, or you can watch along
on YouTube and listen and now you can give us
the thumbs up there. We appreciate that you can also
leave your comments there. I do check those out and
answer people's questions on a regular basis. We will be
back with more right after this.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
He's the Drive with Dale Lolly and Matt Williams on
your twenty four seven Home of the Black and Gold
Steelers Nation Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
And we are back. I am Dale Lolly, he is
the Matt Williamson and.

Speaker 3 (40:16):
Happy fiftieth anniversary of the Holy Grail. Just saw that.
I'm here chuckling to myself between segments.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Yeah, your your wife just put that out there, so
you put it on face. Yeah, I guess right, yeah. Yeah.
One thing I want to clear up so that that
restricted free agent tag that these teams put on, yeah yeah, yeah,
they it still applies to the compensatory Draft formula for
the twenty twenty sixth draft if they signed with another
team before July twenty second if you sign those guys

(40:44):
after July twenty twenty second, you're fine. So you can
wait until.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
So you can probably a handshake deal with Dobbins or more.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
We don't need you in your ring. Back, We don't back, right, Okay.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
I'm not sure what in the end, what's going to
benefit the team that slapped it on them, but I
guess it doesn't hurt.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
It doesn't hurt. You kind of guarantee that. Okay, here's
what we're going to pay you, Like if they thought
they were going to get more than that or less.

Speaker 3 (41:08):
Or I mean if Woods has got two million or
so and they're getting fourish, right, I mean, it's not
a bad payday for someone that's on the market right now.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
You could say that their market is being repressed seeing
the violence inherent in the system.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
Best movie ever, at least the first half, and then
they ran out money. Yeah, but it still holds up
after fifty years, by the way, Yeah, it's.

Speaker 2 (41:30):
Like playing saddles, Yes, no doubt. There's some comedies that
just oh, classic, classless, timeless, classic comedies. They did a
lot of those in this.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
I don't want to go down with the road too much,
but when they come to the castle and I told
him we already got one. I think it's the funniest
scene in movie history. He's talking to his buddies behind.

Speaker 2 (41:54):
I told him there's someone else, the player we could
talk to. Actually, my favorite, my favorite scene is when
they're he's discussing the rabbit in the uh the fan.

Speaker 3 (42:10):
And they're totally the blood. Look at the bones, I
should say, look at the bones. I might have to
watch that tonight, at least the first half of it late.

Speaker 2 (42:17):
Tonight, really late today in honor. That's one of those ones,
you know I I have for my kids. I of
course you showed them. You guys gotta sit down and
watch this movie. They love it. Yeah, its fantastic. My
kids have not been on it yet. Who've also, you know,
sat down and watched Blazing Saddles for the first time
when they're like fifteen something like that. They're like, I'm like,

(42:41):
they're making fun of racism. They're not.

Speaker 3 (42:43):
There's some things that don't quite hold up, that maybe
don't get away with.

Speaker 2 (42:48):
But you're right there there their spirit of it. The
spirit does it is they're poking fun at racist That's right, right,
that's gonna be fifty plus years too. Yeah, yeah, easily.
I think I was like seventy two something like that.
It's crazy that's some of our favorite movies are fifty
years old. It makes me feel old. That's because we're old.

Speaker 3 (43:04):
And I said, Godfather's my number one. That's gotta be
fifty plus.

Speaker 2 (43:07):
Oh yeah, definitely, yeah before seventy five. Oh yeah, yeah.
I keep wanting to read the book.

Speaker 3 (43:12):
I did, didn't read it. I don't read any books,
and that was one of the only ones I read.
I probably that it was on the other day here
a speed reader too. I mean, oh, you gotta read it.

Speaker 2 (43:20):
It was it was on I think I stopped and
watch the Number two a couple of weeks ago. Like,
you know, I've never read those books. Read the book.
I should probably do that.

Speaker 3 (43:27):
Some books phenomenal. That's why the movie. For a new
book to read, I highly recommend it. Like they go
into Luca Brozi's backstory, and the only human being that
the Dawn is afraid of is Luca. I mean, like,
there's all kinds of stuff. I should read it again.

Speaker 2 (43:41):
It's either that or I got to go through and
read the Game of Thrones series for like the fourth
time because it's been so damn long. He hasn't written
in right, that's what happening right at this point, I
don't think so. He's not young, right, he is not young.
And I keep waiting for that news and like he
won't let anybody else finish it. Come on, George.

Speaker 3 (43:59):
The series could have finished a little better too, but
run out of time.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
Like that whole the whole scene where they go to
the north and the dragon they pulled the dragons comes
up out of the the spoiler spoiler, It took like
five minutes in this show and then there and then
all of a sudden they're back. It's like, oh, yeah,
they were transporting all over the west rost, Yeah, did

(44:24):
star Trek come in here? And like the guy's transport,
Like what happened.

Speaker 3 (44:28):
Even if you're riding dragons, you're not making that.

Speaker 2 (44:29):
You're telling me they made the trip all the way
from west from Kings Landing to the North.

Speaker 3 (44:35):
That was covered in ice. And then it was like
them back.

Speaker 2 (44:37):
