Speaker 1 (00:04):
It is the Steelers standard. With Ed Troop and Jacob
Brect on Steelers Nation Radio, part of the Steelers Audio Network.
Jacob will turn the page to Week six. Hard to believe.
The Steelers a bye this past week. Again, it was
a goodbye, as we've discussed all week long here so far.
Early in the week. The Steelers three and one atop
the AFC North, Bengals, Ravens and Browns all lose in
(00:25):
Week five, so the Steelers have extended their division lead
to three games on the Ravens and Browns, who the
Browns they will face this Sunday, and the Bengals they
have a two game lead on which they'll turn around
quickly a week from this Thursday and play the following
Thursday on Thursday Night Football in Cincinnati. So they'll have
two games, two division games AFC North games within four
(00:46):
days of each other next week, starting this upcoming Sunday.
Let's talk Steelers stats through the first four weeks of
the season we talked about this last week. Nothing changed,
of course, with the Steelers not playing Aaron Rodgers through
the first four games of the seas He's in completing
sixty eight percent of his passes, seventy four of one
to eight for seven hundred and eighty six yards, eight touchdowns,
(01:06):
three interceptions. He's been sacked nine times so far this season.
The Steelers leading running back is Kenny Gainwell thirty five
carries for one hundred and fifty four yards three rushing
touchdowns so far this season. He's averaging about four point
four yards per carry. Jalen Warren, who was injured during
the Vikings game. Through his three games that he played
this season, forty three carries one hundred and thirty two yards,
(01:28):
averaging three point one yards per carry, no touchdowns and
just one side note Caleb Johnson a lot of expectation
between the rookie draft pick from Iowa only eight carries
for twenty one yards through three games played so far
this season. Receiving wise, dk metcalf A top of the
list at two hundred and sixty one yards receiving on
fifteen catches and three touchdowns, his longest being that eighty
(01:51):
yard reception touchdown reception against the Minnesota Vikings. Number two
on the team Jalen Warren with one hundred and forty
two yards receiving all eleven receptions and a receiving touchdown.
Calvin Austin is third. He is the third and he's
also third on the list with one hundred and thirty
nine yards receiving ten receptions two touchdowns. John Smith is fourth,
(02:13):
Pat Frromuth fifth, and Kenny Gamwell rounds things out. And
we already talked about Roman Wilson only one catch, Ben
Scronic only one catch and Darnell Washington three catches for
twenty yards for the first few games of the season.
How about defensively, Patrick Queen leads the way with tackles
thirty five total tackles, Peyton Wilson thirty five total tackles, one,
(02:33):
Thorn Hill twenty five, Chuck Clark twenty five, and TJ.
Watt with nineteen so far this season. Meanwhile, in the
sack department to Pittsburgh Steelers fourteen sacks not too bad
through the first four games of the season. TJ. Watt
leads to class with three. Nick Herbig is second with
two and a half. Keanubenten is third with one point five.
And you got Cam Hayward, Derek Harmon, Jack Sawyer, Deshaun Elliott,
(02:57):
Patrick Queen, Alex Heis and Peyton Wilson each with one
sack so far this season tackle for loss. I always
like to talk about that. Your top two leaders TJ. Watt,
Patrick Queen each with five, Nick Carr Big with four,
Peyton Wilson with four as well. And finally, interceptions so
far this season the Steelers with a total of five
(03:17):
and it's uh split, only one each. TJ. Watt has won,
Nick car Big one, Deshaun Elliott one, Jalen Ramsey won
in Brendan Eckles with one. Your thoughts on the Steelers
stats so far, anything stand out?
Speaker 2 (03:28):
No, nothing really crazy.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Things are kind of coming more into what we predicted
right in the first couple of weeks. Anything can happen,
and things are a little flukeyp And now that we've
played four games, you're starting to see the actual leaders
at their respective positions take those statistical leads in their
(03:51):
in their respective categories. So nothing really great unless unless
you think something standing out. I think.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
I think the receiving numbers, as we keep talking about,
but that's just due to the lack of the wide
receiver death I think, right, yeah, I mean again, when
you take a look at that Roman Wilson has one
reception and then you look at the tight ends. Johnus
Smith has fourteen, but only for seventy one years. It's
just a clunky category. DK, and really up until DK metcalf.
(04:19):
The good news was he had the two touchdowns back
to back weeks, one touchdown against the Patriot or the
patri or the Seahawks and then the Patriots and then
gets a third straight game with a touchdown reception, So
we love that. But that was his first one hundred
yard game as a Pittsburgh Steelers against the Bikes. Prior
to that, his receiving numbers were low too. But I
think you bring up a good point. Aaron Rodgers is
springing the ball around and again he's not losing football right.
(04:41):
Three interceptions through the first four games, and anytime you
have your quarterback not turning the ball over, regardless of
their experience, if there are forty one year old Aaron
Rodgers or a rookie quarterback, you're most likely you're playing
good football from the QB position. But you know, nine
sacks again, a lot of those in the first couple
games of the season.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Two.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Okay, let's move on NFL stat leaders offensive leaders passing
wise through the first five weeks of the regular season.
Any guests, who's number one. I always like to ask
you the guests your leader.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
I keep thinking it's Daniel Jones.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
I feel like that's spent my guests the last couple
of weeks, but I don't think that's true.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Matthew Stafford Stafford, Okay, over fifteen hundred yards for the
first five games of season. That's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
That makes sense because I know Puka is the number
one receiver in football, so the guy who's gaming in
the football should be doing pretty well.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Yeah, that's that's his QB with Matthew Stafford over fifteen
hundred yards passing so far this season. Dakas second from
Dallas thirteen hundred and fifty six. Daniel Jones one two
hundred and ninety is third. Hey, good for Daniel Jones.
And we talked about the success of the Indianapolis Colts earlier.
Baker Mayfield another player over twelve hundred yards. Did you
(05:50):
happen to see the real that he was arguing with
a Seattle fan?
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (05:54):
I did, Yeah, choosing some using some inappropriate language, but
that's Baker Mayfield man. We knew that when he was
coming out of Oklahoma, people thought that maybe he was
going to drop in the draft for some character issues.
But no, he was taking number one overall. And he's
just an animated guy. But he care He all he
does is win. I mean not, I guess not. All
(06:15):
he does is win. But all he cares about is
winning football games. And he's going to let you know
it too. And that's what he was doing in Seattle.
And guess what he did win that game?
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Yeah, he backed it up. He was interacting with And
what was.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Cool too was that when he was when the game
was over and he was walking back into the tunnel,
he found that fan and was chirping in him again.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Kitt Yeah, oh yeah, Oh I didn't see that part.
I just saw I just saw the pregame him.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
No, no, no, he found that fan at the end
of the game and said, yeah, how do you like me?
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Now?
Speaker 1 (06:39):
I know he was saying, let's look at the you
know what scoreboard at the end of the game before
he went out. Drake May finishes out your top five
passers with just over twelve hundred yards passing so far. Okay,
rushing wise, number one should be an easy one. He
should be able to get this one. So far.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Rushing isn't it. Jonathan Taylor, He's.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Pretty much been the leader all season four hundred and
eighty yards rushing through five weeks. James Cook number two
with four hundred and fifty. Javonte Williams, my guy from
Dallas on my fantasy teams, is third with four hundred
and forty seven. Travis Antienne from Jacksonville is fourth with
four hundred and forty three. JK Dobbins finally is that
rounds out the top five for rushers from Denver four
(07:19):
hundred and two rushing yards. The former Baltimore raven the
former Charger now in Denver, his third team.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
JK.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Dobbinson was a guy that remember when he played for
the Ravens his first couple of seasons, was a guy
that really stood out to me. I was like, man,
he's gonna take over. He's gonna be the guy in Baltimore.
Left there, especially once they got Dereck Henry into the mix.
Didn't do too much with the Chargers, but now with Denver.
Four hundred and two yards rushing, yeah, I mean have
to applaud him. Really kind of bounced around a lot.
(07:46):
Remember he was got to start in Baltimore and then
went over to La had a really good year last
year to start and then kind of falter, but finding
a good home in Denver. Right now, that Denver team.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Just overall is really good and I'm gonna we're gonna
talk about them in the power rankings coming up.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
Don't get Gronk to read the receiver leading out right, Duca. No, Well,
there's a lot on here for in hims right. So
Nakua's number one is you as you referenced, he has
five hundred and eighty eight yards, the lead all receivers,
Jackson Smith and Jigba is second with five hundred and
thirty four yards justin Jefferson. No surprise there. He's always
in the top five. And he is back to back
(08:23):
over one hundred yards game against the Steelers and against
the Browns in Dublin and then in London. So he
does well overseas, comes back with a one to one
record four hundred and forty nine yards. Igbuca. That's the
one Gronk struggled with this past Sunday. If you saw it,
he's number four. Great rookie season so far. You mentioned
it yesterday. It was a good take that he's probably
(08:44):
up for rookie of the year at this point he
is Rookie of the Year on the offensive side four
hundred and forty five yards receiving, and then Saint Brown
from Detroit rounds out your top five with four hundred
and seven yards receiving quickly. On the defensive side, Jordan
Brooks is your eating tackler with fifty seven from Miami.
Bobby Wagner number two with fifty six. Top three sack
(09:06):
leaders well, you mentioned from Denver right, Benito leading the
way of seven sacks so far this season. Josh Sweat
from Arizona is third with five, and Dorrance Armstrong from
Washington from the Commanders also five. Brian Burns from the
Giants the veteran also with five sacks, and Adian Hunt
Hutchison with five sacks. He had a big game in
Cincinnati this past week for the Detroit Lines. Your top
(09:29):
five sack leaders. Interception wise, your leader is Devin Lloyd,
who was in action last night with Jacksonville with four.
Buyered from Chicago has three, and those are your top two.
Everyone else just with one or two. For your interception leaders.
Those are your NFL leaders through the first five weeks
of the regular season, and your Steeler stat leaders. It's
(09:49):
now time for our NFL Power rankings through the first
six weeks of the season. Jacob will start with you
this week.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
You have it down. Do you know the the acronym?
Speaker 1 (09:59):
I don't have the Every week I make a note
of it and then I forget you and Tom, do
you have a guess? What is it?
Speaker 3 (10:05):
The outside looking in list close? I mean, that's essentially
what it is. It's the jdq MTC the teams that
just didn't quite just make the cut, just didn't quite
make the cut, but it is it is effectively that
the team's on the outside looking in.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
That is correct.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Do you want to give it a go? You go first?
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Yeah? Okay, So my number eleven team, I had the
Seattle Seahawks. Following them at twelve is their division rival.
I had the La Rams, and then right behind them
at thirteen, I had despite them losing last night, I
had the Kansas City Chiefs at number thirteen.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
All right, so hold on, wait man, I lost my
pen and then I also lost my microphone. I got
all back and play now, so let's give it one
more time. Eleven. You have the Seahawks, right.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
The Seahawks, and I got the division rival Rams right
behind them, okay, and then I have the Kansasity Chiefs
at thirteen.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
A see Chiefs. Okay, So I have at number thirteen,
I'll go to the opposite way of you. I have
the Seattle Seahawks and two number thirteen on the outside
looking in. I have the Minnesota Vikings at number twelve
at three and two on the outside looking in, and
I have the New England Patriots, who are currently a
playoff team. Maybe I need to reconsider the Patriots. I
have them at number eleven at three and two on
(11:14):
the outside looking So the only two teams we have
similar there are the Seattle Seahawks at three and two.
I do not have the Rams, and I'll give you
also the other I do not have the Chiefs in
my top ten. So how about you with the you
give us a sneak peak with the Vikings or Patriots
that did they crack your top ten? Okay? So we're
okay there. We have the Seahawks, and then our other
teams both cancel each other out, so our top ten
(11:37):
should be a fresh top ten.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
We'll see.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
I don't know if we see out eyes so much
on these top ten lists but we'll try our best.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Well, we have different strategies. Yeah, and it's two different
ways to look at it. I give credit. I go
basically by losses, so I rank my top ten. Now
I am looking at my list. Now. There are a
few exceptions along the way, but they're very minor.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
I think it's easier to make those exceptions as the
year goes on. I think it's easier when you know
when a team is, you know, let's say five and
two and a team is six and three, you might
want to give some credit to that team that's six
and three or five and two.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
It's you know, very very fluid kind of rankings.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Let's go through our top ten. We'll start and break
down each one individually. Number ten the Green Bay Packers
for me at two to one and one, coming off
that crazy tie. They had a bye week this past week,
so two weeks ago the crazy bye or tie they
had to buy this past week crazy tie in Dallas
in week four, forty to forty. It was Sunday night football.
(12:40):
They kind of just gave up at the end. They
took a shot to the end zone with Jordan Love.
It was incomplete. They could have went for the win
with time running out, the clock was stopped, but they
instead elected to go for the tie and just get
out of Dallas with a tie and not a loss.
Prior to that wins against Detroit to start out the
season twenty seven to thirteen. They beat the Commanders. They
(13:01):
were two and oh before losing to the Browns, which
was their only hiccup really on their schedule so far.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Yeah, outside of that tie, yeah, I like it. I
got them coming up soon. You're not gonna like my
number ten team. This is where I got the Pittsburgh
number thirteen tet my mic Off. Well, I mean the
teams I have above them, I'll have either not.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
To rupt you, Jacob, though you won't be you won't
be too upset with me though, where I do have
the Steelers of my top ten.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
So given more realistic position now than you did in
the past, I think you'll be a little happier with me.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
Good. So there's only one team I have ahead.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
Of them that has either that has more losses on
the year than the Steelers. So it's trying to try
to do try to be my Ferris as as I could.
But yeah, I got the Steelers here, and you know,
I think they were my number nine team last week,
and so in the bye week it's hard to move
up or move down significantly, so I just have them
moving down I think one spot. I may even have
(13:55):
them at number ten last week. So just saying dormant here,
it's very important.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
That they win this week.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
If they don't, then I think a lot of people
are gonna call them pretty fraudulent.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Well, I think it's gonna be much like I had
the Ravens in the top ten there for a couple
of weeks, right exactly. I can't remember last week. If
I had him on the outside looking in, I think
I might of Now I don't even have him on
the outside looking in. But the Steeers are in a
similar spot. I agree, you got to get this one
against the Browns this week, you know. And hey, they're
in the top ten on both of our lists after
five weeks of the regular season. That's not bad considering
(14:27):
that they haven't been a top ten in an NFL
Power ranking in a long long time. So yeah, not
too bad. At number ten, I have the Packers at ten,
you have the Steeers at ten. At number nine, I
have the Denver Broncos Okay, which are currently three and
two on the season, back to back wins, beating Cincinnati
twenty eight to three, and then they go into Philadelphia
and win that game on Sunday twenty one to seventeen.
(14:48):
We've talked about the Broncos defense all year and how
good it is or how great it could be, but
Bo Nicks is your X factor. He had a great
finish of the twenty twenty four season and so far
this season, I I think he's looked very, very good
through the first five And now you're throwing JK. Dobbins
right number five.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Yeah, we just talked about I have no problem with
it at my number nine spot. This is where I
have the Green Bay Packers, so pretty close to you.
I don't think a lot of people saw the start coming,
or I don't think they saw that the last few
weeks coming, given how well they started off the season.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
You remember they had that statement win against the Lions
in Week one.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
Then they had the Commanders, who were a playoff team
last year, and they pretty much took care of business
on that game. And in the last two weeks were
just really weird question marks for them. Thirteen to ten
loss against the Browns and then that weird tie against
the Cowboys. This week they're playing the Bengals. This has
to be a get right game for them. As you mentioned,
it has to be a tune up game. That defense
(15:48):
in Cincinnati is so bad and the offense, even without
Joe Burrow, is very vulnerable, especially against the defense led
by Micah Parsons. This needs to be a get right
game for the Packers that if it's not, then we
might be having bigger questions for the scene than we
expected to have.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
This early on.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
I had the Packers at number ten, as we just discussed,
and I agree with you they're kind of on that
fringe on the outside looking in. As much as I
talked them up about what I liked what they did
early on in the season after losing at Cleveland and
that tie against against Dallas, you just want to see
if those were two blimps on their radar and if
they could bounce back this upcoming week. So you have
the Packers at nine. I have the Broncos at night
(16:26):
at number eight. And I did this list last night,
how about that? And I was prepared this morning to
change it based on last night's results. Okay, so you
know it's not the Chiefs. I told you they weren't
my top ten. So the Jacksonville Jaguars at four and
one are my number eight team. A huge win last night. Again,
if they lose that game, I'm updating this this morning
and they're falling out of my top ten. Yeah maybe
(16:46):
maybe on the outside looking in, I'm not too sure.
I don't even think I have them in that point.
But because they win that game, they're four and one.
Trevor Lawrence looked wonderful last night, and we talked about
Travis Hunter and what he's been able to do as
a rookie and his impact always strong in Jacksonville for
the most part. Yeah, number eight. I think that was
a statement win last night against the Kansas City Chiefs
on Monday Night Football, and the fact that they were
(17:08):
able to come back in a game that I talked
about during our first or our last segment, rather about
the Monday night football game. That's a game in which
the Chiefs win nine out of ten times. So to
see Jacksonville come back and win that game at the
end tells me a lot about the four and one Jags.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
Definitely, you got to call them the Jags right when
you and you gotta have I think you also agree
with me. You have to bring back the logo and
the color scheme that they showed last night.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Right, just way better?
Speaker 3 (17:33):
All right, My number nine team, I'm sorry, My number
eight team here is the San Francisco forty nine ers.
I gotta excuse me, respect them for getting to that
four and one record, but they're just so injured that
I just don't know if I have faith in them.
But really, all that matters is the only guy who
has not been dinged up all year is Christian McCaffery,
(17:56):
who's back to being maybe your offensive Player of the
Year candidate level.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
I mean, he's just been on a tear this year.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
And I think another guy who's not an unsung hero
but just deserves more and more credit is the head coach,
Kyle Shanahan quarterback guru.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Right.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
I mean, with Rock Purty coming in as the Mister
Irrelevant a couple of years ago and leading the team
to a Super Bowl run, you thought, okay, well that
was just a matchman in heaven.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
You got the right guy there.
Speaker 3 (18:23):
But then when he went down with an injury and
Mac Jones had to become in the starting quarterback. You thought, Okay, well,
there's no way that Mac Jones is going to become
you know, Superman in San Francisco. Well, lo and behold,
he's done pretty well and despite having all those injuries
on offense and defense on Thursday Night against the Rams,
he was able to pull off the win.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
You just have to give credit to Shanahan.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
He really knows how to work with pretty much any quarterback.
And you gotta wonder if they actually had like a
top ten guy on that offense, how well the sky
would be the limit for them. But right now, Kyle
Shanahan's doing a lot more with a lot less considering
his quarterback options have been only Brock Purty, Jimmy Garoppolo.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Going back a couple of years, and Mac Jones.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
Uh so, yeah, credit to the Niners for getting to
four and one, having a good division win on Thursday
night this past week. They got a big test though
against the Bucks this Sunday on the road. They can
pull that one off, and you have to take the
Niners seriously, even even if it's a close game. Though
when they lose, though, I'd still keep them in in
probably a top ten contention.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
I'd forgotten about Mac Jones. I was watching the Thirst
eight game and I saw Jones. I was thinking, Daniel Jones, like, no,
that's not right.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
In he's already I mean, Mac Jones is already on
his third team.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
It kind of reminded me of the scene in Major
League where they're going through the roster. They're like this
guy here, he's dead. Well, then cross him off the list.
So Mac Jones I thought he was dead. I didn't
think he was still playing in the NFL. Remember he
was the Jags backup to Trevor Lawrence. Yeah, which is
ironic because they were in the same draft class. Well,
he looked very good last Thursday night. And and because
of that, I have the Jaguars at eight, you have
(20:01):
the forty nine ers eight. I have the forty nine
ers at seven on my list. Gotcha at four and one,
And I'll just echo what you just said. They've played
close games, barely beats Seattle seventeen thirteen. In Week one,
the Saints was a twenty six to twenty one game,
the Cardinals sixteen to fifteen. They barely lose to the
Jaguars twenty six twenty one. So you want to talk
about and then of course the Rams last Thursday night,
(20:22):
twenty six, twenty three in LA. You want to talk
about Mike tomlin In won score games, well so far,
that's been the story for San Francisco. This is a
huge one for him this Sunday at Tampa Bay. That'll
let you know if the forty nine Ers are pretenders
or not or contenders.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Like I said, even if it's a close loss, you
still have to give.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Him a lot of credit for saying in that one.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
So forty nine Ers my number seven, how about you.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
My number seventeen? This is where I had the Denver Broncos.
This is, as I said, the only team I have
ahead of the Steelers with a worse record. But I
do think the Broncos record is better than it's it
actually is, because if you remember that weird field goal
that came down to the last against the Colts, and
then they were up by seven late in the fourth
(21:05):
quarter against the Chargers and then LA scored ten unanswered
at the end of regulation to win that game. So
I do think that Denver team is real and they,
as I mentioned earlier this week, they had their statement
win of the year so far against the Eagles, going
on the road this past Sunday. Just have to give
(21:28):
them a ton of credit, and we've been talking about
them a lot.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
JK.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Dobbins, Nick Benito on the other side of the football
Patser team, coming off of his defensive Player of the
Year Canadacy last year.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
They have a very easy schedule coming up. We did
to you right now. They have the Jets, the Giants,
the Cowboys, the Texans, the Raiders.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
They should probably win five of five right in that
stretch because.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
They get the Cowboys at home too. They don't have
to go to Dells exactly.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
And we know how bad that Cowboys defense is, so
I know it was a rocky start for them. They
got off to a one and two start. They rebounded
with two wins in a row. They're three and two.
They could easily be looking down an eight and two
starts to this year. So I got a lot of
respect for Denver.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
The Jets game and by the way, yeah, go ahead, sorry,
I was gonna say the Jets game this week is
in London, so that's a nine thirty am game.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
And I was gonna say too.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Their division opponents, both the Chiefs and the Chargers, not
in my top ten. I had the Chiefs in my
JDQMDCE the Chargers, who were I think were a top
a lot of our power rankings early on, not even
in my jdq TC, not even in my teams, just
on the outside looking in, because they've really fallen from
Grays the last.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
Couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
I got to write down that abbreviation. Yeah, next week,
when you try to stump me, I'll have it. The
Pittsburgh Steelers number six on my list, Jacob, So they're
not my top five. That's why I thought you'd be
happy with me not my top five. I flirted with
that idea, but then I thought you'd give me some
you know, you would make fun of me, so.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
You get them the same.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
Yeah, I kept them the same, you know, because I
believe they were number six for you last they were
bye week. So they stay where they are at three
and one and right in the middle of that top ten.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
Again. I flirted with the idea of number five in
the top five. But the next five that I'll give
you I just thought are right now at this point
in the season, just better than the Steelers. But I
do think they are ahead of the pace of the
teams behind them. In my top five with the Packers,
the Broncos, the Jaguars, and the forty nine ers. So
for me at number six, it feels right. How about
you at number six?
Speaker 2 (23:23):
Number six, for me, this is where the Indianapolis Colts.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
I know, people love the Colts and it's a high
powered offense, one of the best offenses in football right now.
But I'm still kind of waiting for the other shoe
to drop, you know, I'm just kind of waiting for
things to kind of return to normalcy. They've had a
very forgiving schedule, right the Dolphins, who are a one
win team, the Titans, who are a one win team,
the Raiders, who are a one win team. I know
(23:47):
they beat the Broncos, and I gave them credit for that,
but the Rams, who I had in my gdqume to
see they lost to them. Let's start to give them
some tougher opponents and see how they actually do, and
then if they win a couple of those games, I'll
give them credit. I mean, one thing that we talked
about yesterday, ED is that matchup between the Steelers and
(24:07):
Colts in a couple of weeks, in the first weekend
of November. Rather that's gonna be a big one for
both teams. That's gonna be a real test for both teams.
I think whoever comes out to Victor, I think people
will respect them for being the better of those two teams.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
But you can't ignore what the Chiefs have accomplished so far.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
It's crazy to think they're lowest scoring output on offense
this season has been twenty points, which for a lot
of teams, it's the highest scoring output. I mean for
the Steelers, I mean we know how much they've struggled
on offense pretty much all year, and then even dating
back to last year. Right now, I think if you
were to say, oh, you're guaranteed twenty points, I think
(24:48):
people in Pittsburg will saying, oh, that's great, twenty points.
You know we were lucky to get thirteen a couple
of years ago. So you really can't ignore what the
Colts are doing on offense. Like you mentioned, Jonathan Taylor
leading the league and rushing yards so far this year.
Tyler Warren, the rookie out of Penn State, the tight end,
making a great impact so far so far. He's the
(25:09):
Ingiel Jones number one target this year. So yeah, really
can't ignore what the Colts are doing. But let's see
them start to play some tougher teams and then we'll
see if they're they're for real or not.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Just to echo that from you, I have the Colts.
It's time for our top five, and I have the
Colts at number five on my list at four and one.
So just to echo what you're saying. Dolphins they beat
week one, absolutely should have beat them. They beat the Broncos.
That's an impressive on controversial though. Yep. Week three at
the Titans, Hey, they should have beat the Titans at
(25:39):
this point, right, you lose against the Rams, a good
Rams team, and then you beat the Raiders, which you should.
Now you should beat the Cardinals next week. That two
road games. Really, they have two home games and two
road games in the next four. You should beat your
your two home games Cardinals and Titans. Come on, you
gotta win both those if you're the Colts. But those
are two big tests. We're going to find out how
real they are at the Chargers and then at the
steep Pittsburgh on November two. So you're right, two road
(26:02):
games in their next four that are going to determine
whether the Cults are real, Right, now on a lot
of these lists they're in the top three. Yeah, but
on my list they're at number five. On your list
are number six? Who you got number five?
Speaker 2 (26:12):
All right?
Speaker 3 (26:12):
Entering my top five, this is where the other AFC
South team there's around the Jacksonville Jaguars. I think a
lot of people were waiting to see if they were
for real talking about the Colts and how real they are.
But I think a lot of people were waking up
by the win last night by the jackson that come
from behind victory. They were down by fourteen points at
one point, they were down by what was it twenty one,
(26:34):
fourteen or twenty four or something like that at another point,
and they ended up winning that game. It was very impressive.
They beat the Niners. You remember that hobble team that
we were praising earlier. They have a big they're on
the bye week now I'm sorry, they're not on the
bye week. It's coming Sunday. They play the Seahawks, so
(26:54):
that should be a big test for them.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
They get that one at home though, so the Jacks
could be five.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
I've been won by the time that Seattle comes to town.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
My top five and we're going down to number four.
So I have the Colts at five. You have the
Jaguars at five. Yeah, I had the Jacks.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
I think we all I think we have the same
top four teams.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
It's just the order, the order.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
So you want to just go rapid fire and see
if we got it.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
We can do that. We can do that. I'll do
four down to one. Yeah, let's do that. Okay, here
we go. So for me, I have the Bucks at
four at four and one, the Bills at three at
four and one after their loss, the Eagles at number
two at four and one of their loss, and I
got the Lions the number one team at four and one.
Eagles and Bills both lose, so I had them one
(27:38):
and two pretty much every week up until now. The
Lions I had at three pretty much every week. So
my top three was pretty much the same three teams.
But now, like Jockey done, based on what they did
in week.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Five, I've had the top same top four teams each
of the last however many weeks, I had Tampa at four,
so we had that one. The one thing I didn't
do was put Detroit above the Eagles and Bills. I
still have Detroit three, and then we've been back and
forth on where to put the Eagles and Bills. You
always had the Bills before the Eagles. I still have
the Bills and number two in the Eagles number one.
(28:08):
But these are, I think, right now, the top, without question,
the top four teams in football right.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Now, and I think it speaks volumes that there's only
one AFC team and in that conversation, right the Bills
on both of our lists. That's going to do it
for our NFL Power rankings for Week six, and that's
going to do it for today. Tomorrow, Jacob and I
will start to break down the Steelers upcoming game against
the Cleveland Browns. A lot of history between the Browns
and Steelers, so we're going to talk about that tomorrow
in our first segment as we continue to push the
(28:36):
standard forward and roll into Week six for Steelers Browns
this upcoming Sunday at AKR Shore Stadium. This is the
Steelers Standard with Ed Troup and Jacob Brect on Steelers
Nation Radio, part of the Steelers Audio Network
