Speaker 1 (00:08):
Welcome back to the Steelers Standard here on Steelers Nation
Radio and the Steelers Audio Network. I am at Troup
and joining me is Jacob Brect. It's time for our
Renegade Preview where we preview the AFC, North AFC and
other NFL games here in Week eight. We've been talking
a lot, of course about the Steelers matchup this upcoming
Sunday Night, as the Pittsburgh Steelers, with the record of

(00:29):
four and two will host the green Bay Packers, who
are for to one and one eight twenty kickoff on
Sunday Night football at akkor shir Stadi. Before we get
into the other games, Jacob, I do want to mention
this this week, the NFL announced the next round of
cuts that happened for their twenty twenty six NFL Hall
of Fame class, and several Steelers have made the cut
for the next round, including wide receiver hinz Ward, center

(00:51):
Marquis Pouncy, linebacker James Harrison, kicker Gary Anderson, and a
senior nominee in defensive lineman el C.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Greenwood.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Part of the steel curtain up front, would be very
pumped and excited to see if Elsie Greenwood can finally
punch that ticket to Canton. I think he deserves it.
I think he should be in there. Kind of surprised
when I saw his name that he wasn't right, and
I was like, why isn't Elsie Greenwood in the NFL
Hall of Fame?

Speaker 3 (01:15):
So, I mean, you know, it's taken a long time
for that entire Steel curtain to get in, but I think.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Elsie is the last guy to get in.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Yeah, I think he'd be one of the last of
the obvious ones that that that should get in, so
that that's gonna be an interesting storyline. He's a senior nominee,
so they always do, you know, some contributor, some seniors,
some coaches, some different categories off of the traditional list.
But Elsie Greenwood I think a good possibility that he
could potentially be in this twenty twenty six Hall of

(01:43):
Fame class.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
How about the others?

Speaker 1 (01:45):
War Pouncey, I think this is his first time or
it was last year's first time. For Pouncy, I think
this year was his first time.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
I don't know, but it has been let's just say he's.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Really yeah, James Harrison on that list. Gary Anderson, any
thoughts on on Hinds. I mean, every year Gary Anderson,
it's a kicker.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Come on, I think there's what only one or two
kickers in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
He was a good one thought four year time wrong.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
I don't know if he'll get in as a Steeler though,
because he played pretty much all over hand full teams.
But I'm not here to talk about Gary Anderson. I
think I think of the Big three though that you
were talking about Hines Pounds and in addition to that,
James Harrison as well also eligible. I think Deebo has
the best shot. I mean, he won a Defensive Player

(02:34):
of the Year award. He's got one of the best
plays in NFL history in the Super Bowl. I think
Hines and Pounds are fringe guys. But I do think
that Deebo deserves to win it. It deserves to go
in rather he all. I mean you have to also
understand too with Deebo. It's something that Wes Euler always
points out about talking about the Hall of Fame. Can

(02:56):
you tell the history of the league without mentioning this
person's name, and if you can, maybe they're not worthy
of getting in.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
That's a good point.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
James Harrison was the face of the def of not
just a Steelers defense, but of how the defense was
played and how the defense was forced to change because
of guys like James Harrison. And then you would add
on top of that his accolades and the pick six
that he had and the Super Bowl. I don't think

(03:24):
you can talk about that era of the Ats in
the early twenty ten without or by leaving out the
name of James Harrison. So I think Deebo deserves to
get in. Hines is a little trickier. You know, he's
got a Super Bowl MVP, he's got a thousand catches
on his career. He also too, I mean when you
talk about the hard hitting era, or rather I guess

(03:46):
the end of the hard hitting era of the modern NFL. Remember,
he is the reason that the NFL has that crackback
block rule in place because of him breaking the jaw
that Bengals rookie defender the year they won Super Bowl
forty three. Of course, that's not his his all time legacy,
his all time greatest moment. I think winning a Super

(04:08):
Bowl MVP is probably will take that mantle. But it's
hard for me to say, is he really better than
so many other guys who have played the position before
and even after him, And then for Pounds, it's it's
hard to get in as an offensive lineman. There's not
a ton there are there are a good amount, but
not a ton. I think you have to be really
considered undeniably one of the all time greats, such as

(04:32):
a Dermarni Dawson, such as a Mike Webster, such as
an Alan Fanica. And I don't know if Pounds ever
really got that recognition or that respect while he was playing.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
I think he didn't play long enough, right, Yeah, ten years,
that was it.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
That's that's that's gonna be. I mean, Pouncy one of
the best ever do it at center. I think he
should eventually get in, but that might be why he'll
be delayed and not in right away. It's just because
he didn't play long enough. Much like the you know,
conversations that we've had with some other NFL players over
the years. Done great, they just didn't play long enough
to wreck up the numbers that the Hall of Fame
looks at. Heinz Ward, this is a long you know,

(05:07):
this is a marathon for hines Ward, not a race
to get into the Hall of Fame. So you know,
I'm not sure if it'll be this year, but he's
a Hall of famer in my book. I grew up
watching heines ward play. He's one of my favorite Steelers
of all time, right with Jerome Bettis and James Harrison,
Wes Jueler and you bring up excellent points and I
agree with all that, but let's get else Greenwood in
with this class. Like I said, that's the name from

(05:29):
the seventies that jumped out at me when I saw
that he's a senior nominee. Okay, let's jump into our
Week eight preview here on the Renegade Preview. During this
Steeler Standard segment. Week eight kicked off last night on
Thursday Night as the LA Chargers defeat the Minnesota Vikings
thirty seven to ten. We talked about this game, just

(05:49):
a bit of go Jacob with the running back leading
the way for LA in vital Comani vityl twenty three carries,
one hundred and seventeen yards and a touchdown. Justin Herbert
went eighteen of twenty five for two to twenty seven,
three touchdowns and an interception. Not a good night for
Carson Wentz at the quarterback spot. One hundred and forty

(06:11):
four yards, a touchdown and an interception. Justin Jefferson only
seventy four yards receiving and no touchdowns. Jordan Addison did
have the lone Viking touchdown. He had three catches for
twenty six yards. The Chargers, now five and three and
the Minnesota Vikings now three and four, can't figure out
the Vikings.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
No, No, I mean I think they're in turmoil.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
I think they are fully regretting the decision to let
go of Sam Darnold, let him move on to Seattle,
and as we've talked about all season long, how great
of a season he's having with Jackson Smith and Jigbo
just how overall the Seahawks are thriving. They're five and
two right now in a very competitive division. Yeah, the
Vikings are down bad despite having so much talent offensively.

(06:55):
I mean they even got back Aaron Jones last night,
their running back, who has been on the IR I
believe since like week one, but just couldn't get things going.
And that defense I think is really underperformed too. When
you look at how well they did last year or
just consistently across the board, Remember they were a fifteen
to two win two record last year, and of course,

(07:18):
you know, they had a really bad end to it.
I mean, they were fifteen to one throughout the whole
season and then they lost their season finale, the regular
season finale against Detroit to lose out on the lead
for the NFC North. And then the very next game
in the playoffs. I believe Sam Darnold got sacked like
nine times in that game or something like that. It
was just a bad back to back week performance for

(07:40):
the Vikings at the end of the season. But really
you look at defensively what they've been doing, it's just
not up to part to what Brian Flores was able
to get out of his team last year. So offensively
defensively for the Vikings has been pretty bad. But for
the Chargers, good for them for getting back on track
with a win here. Something we've been talking about about

(08:00):
them all season long is how up and down their
season has been. But it's never easy to get a
Thursday night win. Even though this one was at home.
It's important that they got the win here because, like
I said, they've been going back and forth. They started
off three to zero, they fell to three and two,
then they beat Miami who was a one win team
to improved it four and two. Then last week against

(08:22):
the Colts, they got boat raced. The Colts put up
thirty eight points on the Chargers did on the Chargers
last weekend, but they bounced back with the win here,
So they're doing Okay, five and three isn't terrible. They
have a chance next week to continue that momentum. They
got the Tennessee Titans, so they should get to six
and two or I'm sorry, six and three.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
But remember, like.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
I said, two weeks ago, they struggled to beat Miami,
who was a one win team at the time. Tennessee
could be another trap game. No one's on the road,
that might not be easy, so easy for them.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
That was the Thursday night game to kick off Week eight.
Let's look at the AFC North matchups for this upcoming
Sunday one o'clock games. We'll start with the Bengals, who
are three and four at home against the oh and
seven Jets. Yeah, so an opportunity for Cincinnati to get
back to five hundred and be four and four. That's
why that game last Thursday YEA against the Steelers were
so important for Cincinnati to win because now you got

(09:13):
the Owen seven Jets coming in here, and if Joe
Flacco can keep up the pace that we saw last week,
the Bengals should get back to five hundred. I don't
see the Jets being able to win this one. Will
justin Field's play, though, I guess that's the biggest question
in New York right now.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
I guess I think the question is will he play
the whole game?

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Right?

Speaker 3 (09:31):
I'm sure he'll be slated to start, but Tyrod Taylor,
who's been a perennial backup his whole career, could easily
be the guy that they turned to mid game for
the second week in a row and say, hey, Tyrod,
you got to take over. But it might not matter regardless.
I think the Jets are really bad and the Bengals,
like we saw last week, Joe Flacco can really towards

(09:54):
the Jets defense. I mean, that's as you said, Ed,
that is the killer that game that the Steelers had
last week was the fact that they had the chance
to really bury the Bengals and put them away for
good while increasing their own wins on the season. Sealers
could have improved a five and one sent the Bengals
to a two and five record, and that's not what happened.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
The Seeders are now at four and two.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
The Bengals are just as you said, one game under
five hundred, and they should be an easy enough win
for them to get to that five hundred level. And
I think Joe Flacco is capable of doing that and
just not just capable of getting them the win this week,
but keeping keeping them afloat locking up Joe Burrow comes back.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
That's if he can keep the train rolling and what
we saw last week, then then Joe Burrow comes back
in the what mid to late December for those final
few games. Look out for the Bengals, but they have
They have a layup this week against the Jets. As
long as they do not hiccup right, especially because they're
at home too, then they're not on the road in
New York against the winless Jets. The other game in
the AFC North are the two and five Browns at

(10:57):
the five and two Patriots. So tough one for Cleveland
on the road against a Patriot team that's been red hot.
They haven't lost since Week three against the Pittsburgh Steelers,
and they're gonna look to extend that winning streak at
home against the Cleveland Browns, who are two and five,
who have been more competitive in the last couple weeks
since Joe Flacco left town and went to Cincinnati. Imagine
that the Browns have been more competitive in their last

(11:18):
couple games, but they're still two and five, and this
is a red hot Patriots team right now at five
and two.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
Yeah, I mean, I think the Patriots are gonna pretty
much dog race the Browns. This is gonna be a
ground and pound kind of game. The Browns don't have
much of a passing attack at all. We saw Quinchawn
Jenkins really take off last week for the Browns, so
I think they're gonna stick with the run game. But
the Patriots played the same, similar style of football. Drake
may has been doing very well though under Mike Rabel,

(11:45):
maybe you'll see him.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Ball out a little bit.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
But I think this is really gonna be a grimy
game between two hard nosed teams.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
But I think the Patriots.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
It's in Foxborough, I think the Patriots should walk away
with an easy win here.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
Brown's at Patriots one o'clock on FOG, Jets at Bengals
on CBS at one. The other one o'clock game in
the AFC North, also on CBS is the four and
two Bears at the one in five Ravens. I talked
about justin Fields because there was some talk about Taylor
potentially starting or playing four fields in that Jets game.
But he's banged up, so I think Jets will get Yeah,

(12:19):
he was.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
I think I don't know if it's concussion or something.
He was limited yesterday.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
I just read on the injury report, but Fields could
still get to start. Just based on that alone, that
Taylor wouldn't be able to wouldn't be able to go. Well,
there's a there's a similar dialogue in Baltimore right now
with Lamar Jackson, not based on his play though, just
based on his health. He's been limited most of this
week and he's questionable for Sunday to return against the Bears.
They had circled this game all along for Lamar coming

(12:46):
out of the bye week for the Ravens that he
was gonna be able to go against the Bears.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
Now not so much.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Jacob a least here as of Friday late morning, he's
still questionable for Sunday.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Yeah, I mean if he doesn't go out there. I
think it's easy to call this one a win for
the BA, don't you.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Oh, it's Lamar.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Lamar less offense in Baltimore is like when you take TJ.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Watt out of the Steelers defense.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
And remember that that pairs with a really bad and
depleted Ravens defense as well.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
I mean there they are in that scenario that we
talked about that the Steelers are potentially in where even
if the offense scores thirty some points, the defense is
gonna let up more.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
And that's that's Baltimore. That's a reality.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
That's just not absolutely possibility here in Pittsburgh. I think
it's at least still a possibility that the defense can
get right this week and not perform the way they
did last week. One.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
Baltimore not so much. The Ravens are one and five.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
They would go to one in six, Yeah, Jacob Andett,
and that's pretty much their season. Even if Lamar comes
back at one and six. How do you climb out
of that?

Speaker 2 (13:45):
I don't know how. And the Bears are the Bears.
Bears are game winter of their own.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
We've we've talked about how things can go wrong for
the Ravens with that really giving credit to the Bears
and what Ben Johnson has done to turn his team around.
Four and two after an zero to two start, I mean,
four game win streak after that zero to two start.
I mean they've really I've credited them for having two
good wins. They beat the Cowboys and they beat the
Commanders with Jayden Daniels healthy in that game, So the

(14:12):
Bears aren't putting together. The Bears are putting together rather
a pretty impressive winch streak. And even if Lamar's not
out there going into Baltimore, I mean, that's no easy
place to play. If they can get that win, that's
five game win streak. That's three teams Dallas, Washington and
Baltimore who have been respected the last couple of years.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
I mean, you have to honor what Ben Johnson is
doing if they get the win, and I think they can.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
The Bears four and two at the one in five
Ravens one o'clock on Sunday on CBS. So you either
get the Bengals or the Ravens at one o'clock window
I would think on CBS, and the other one being
the Browns at the Patriots on Fox at one o'clock.
Other AFC notable matchups. The Bills are four and two.
They visit the Carolina Panthers, who are four and three.
That's a one o'clock game on Fox as well. The

(14:59):
Bills coming out of their bye week. They've been a
little shaky there the last couple of games, right, Jacob,
A couple losses in a row. Can they get right
against the Carolina Panther team that all of a sudden
is above five hundred.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
They're four and three.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
Yeah, they've won three in a row. They won four
to their last five. I think though, that this is
where the Bills turn things around. But like you said, Ed,
we all thought they were super Bowl bound after that
four and oh start and then blown behold they lose
to the Patriots. Now, that was a weird game. It's
always a weird game when you're playing in prime time

(15:32):
against a division rival.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
But that game was in Buffalo.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
The Patriots had to go on the road to win
that game, and you thought that, Okay, that's one loss.
The Bills will probably bounce back against the Falcons. But
you and I sat here on the show and said, hey,
another primetime game on the road. Atlanta's not that bad
or not as bad as people think they are, and
the Falcons pulled it off. So now the Bills aren't
I wouldn't say in panic mode, but if things get

(15:58):
close late against car Line, you can bet that the
Bills will be saying to themselves, what the hell happened
to our season?

Speaker 1 (16:04):
It's a pivotal game, I think in that absolutely, and
I keep if I'm saying that because after that start,
you're you're looking at their schedule and even this game
because at the time, just three weeks ago, the Panthers,
what were they at that time?

Speaker 2 (16:15):
They would have been one in three? Yeah they were. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
So now four and three, as you said, on the
winning streak and in pretty good shape at home. That'll
be a good one the Bills and the Panthers at
one o'clock on Sunday, forty nine Ers five and two
at the two and four Texans. Forty nine Ers look
to continue to roll and build on their season and
your power rankings the other day, you and the Niners
up there, didn't you?

Speaker 2 (16:38):
I think you had we both did.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
I think we both did have him top ten, Yeah,
not top five for me, but still approaching there.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Yeah, forty nine Ers five and two at the two
and four Texans. That is also a one o'clock game.
This upcoming Sunday NFC East matchup between the two and
five Giants and the five and two Eagles. Again, these
NF East games are much like the AFC North games.
Regardless of the records, Jacob, they're gonna be competitive games.

(17:06):
And the Giants, even though they're two and five record
with camp Scataboo at the running back position Jackson Dart
at the quarterback position, they're a young team and they're
exciting to watch. But the Eagles trying to stay right
at home. They got back on track last week after
two straight losses. With the win, they're five and two,
the Giants two and five. You would think the Eagles

(17:27):
will roll it home. But I bet you the Giants
and camp Scataboo and Jackson Dark give them a game.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Yeah, I mean they did. They gave him a game
two weeks ago or however long ago. That was against
the Eagles on Thursday Night. However, this one will be
played in Philadelphia. That's a different monster. And after watching
what the Giants did against the Broncos last week, they
were up by eighteen points with what only six six
minutes to go in the fourth quarter, and then the

(17:52):
Broncos just tore it open, scoring all thirty three of
their points in that fourth quarter and that window of
the fourth quarter for that matter. I think the Eagles
will get it done here. The Eagles again, I mean,
we're talking about the Giants, but the Eagles really turned
things up around offensively last week against the Vikings. I
know they've struggled both on the ground and through the air,

(18:13):
but Jalen Hirts looked like a legit quarterback last week.
Uh dicing that that that Viking secondary. I have a
feeling that even though the Giants have that legit pass rush,
the Eagles will find a way to score enough points
to take him down.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
And even the even that rivalry up on the year.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Did you see that Sean Payton retracted his statements on
Russell Walls. I don't know if he were tracted.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
He tried, he tried to clarify that he wasn't throwing
Russ under the bus, but we all know what he
was doing there. There is there is heated tension between
those two and has been for years now and it's
not going away.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
And good for Rush though, he's stepping up. Yeah, he
bounced back this.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
You know, people are pointing out that Russell Wilson is
that guy who was always remaining calm and and doesn't
let things get under his skin. But clearly there's the
animosity between him and Champayne because Russ wouldn't have come
at just anybody, but he took offense to what Champagne
had to say.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
We're referring to Sean Payton, the head coach for Denver
now with the Broncos, uh taking a shot at Russell Wilson.
They beat the Giants last week, a huge fourth quarter
comeback in that game, and you know, took a shot
at Russell Wilson. As far as they know, they should
have made. I wish they wouldn't have made the change yet,
basically referring that they went to Jackson Dart a week
or two prior to that and benched Russell Wilson. Took

(19:28):
a shot there, and then yesterday said no, I was
referring to Jackson Dart and complimenting him that, yeah, he
should have been a starter. So yeah, sure he could
read between those lines. Okay, back to our Week eight preview,
just wanted to mention that. I thought that was interesting.
Then that came out yesterday. Dolphins won in six. Miami's
having a rough year at the three and three Falcons.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Uh, not much to add here anytime you should be
should but it should be a win for the Falcons.
They need to.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
It's they need to keep uh paced with the Buccaneers
as best as they possibly can.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
Atlanta at home in this game, and that it's the
final one o'clock game on Sunday. Let's look at the
four o'clock or later games. Speaking of the Bucks, they
are five and two at the one and six Saints.
So yeah, that's a big game for Atlanta at home
in the NFC South to be able to knock off
a one and six Dolphins team. Because the Bucks, I
don't want to they have an easy one, but they

(20:19):
have an easy one now one in six Saints for
the five and two Bucks that look to bounce back
after that tough loss against Detroit this past week.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Yeah, it should be an easy waiting for the Bucks,
especially after a tough loss last week against the Lions
on Monday night.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
They'll need this one and I'm sure they'll get it to.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
I think Baker Mayfield is more than capable of tearing
up that that really bad Saints defense.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
For twenty five on Sunday, a good one, three and
one Cowboys at the five and two Broncos Denver five
and two in the year that they are at home
at for twenty five. We just talked about Sean Payton
with Russell Wilson, Will Payton, the head coach for the
Broncos against a three to three one Cowboys team that
you know, we were talking that we can't figure out
the vikings and last night we well, maybe we figured

(21:06):
them out a little bit more after the Thursday night
big lopsided loss in LA. The Cowboys are another team
Jacob at three to three and one, I just simply
can't figure out either. They are up and down on
a roller coaster ride each and every week. Some weeks
I think, hey, they look pretty good. In other weeks
not so much. This will be a big test for
Dallas going in against that Broncos team that again last
week against the Giants lost three of the four quarters,

(21:29):
but it takes four quarters to complete a football game,
and in that fourth quarter they scored thirty three unanswered
points to come back and defeat the New York Giants.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
Yeah, I mean what I mean, we just talked about
it when previewing the Giants and Eagles game, that the
Broncos have had such a weird season. I mean, when
you look at it, you remember back to Week two
against the Colts, right, you remember that weird field goal
that was that I think was no good. But then
they had they gave the Colts the re try and

(21:59):
allowed any to kick the eventual game winning field goal.
Then they had that week against the Chargers where they
were up by a touchdown and the Chargers scored ten
points unanswered and the final four minutes or something for
them to come back and win it. They had a
wild come from behind victory against Philadelphia that game. Let
me go check. Let me just make sure I'm right here. Yeah,
the Broncos were down seventeen to three in the fourth

(22:22):
quarter and ended up winning that game. And then of
course last week one of the greatest comebacks we'll ever see,
scoring all thirty three points in the fourth quarter or
something that had never been done by a team who
went scoreless through the first.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Three quarters of the game.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
I don't know if the Broncos end up winning this
game though, because I think that deep air. I'm sorry.
That offense in Dallas is just so good. Remember, they
now have cdee lamp back. His first game back was
either last week or two weeks ago. So now they
have Dak and CD and George and Javonte Williams and
Jake ferguson a tight end, so they'll be firing on
all cylinders. However, that game is in Mile High I

(23:02):
don't know if that'll be a determining factor here because
the Giants were able to get out to an eighteen
or nothing lead at Mile highs, So if they were
able to do that, then the Cowboy should be able
to do that. It just it comes down to Bonnicks.
Can he keep up offensively with Dak Prescott?

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Let me ask you a question. Yeah, we'll sidebar for
a second. We'll step out of the week game. There
are only a couple more games to preview, by the way,
real quick. George Pickens thirty six catches, six hundred and
seven yards, six touchdow kids killing it did? Did the
Steelers make a mistake by let him go in a
contract year his last year? Should they have kept him
for one more season? Tough to make that call yet

(23:36):
or no?

Speaker 3 (23:37):
I think they, I mean, should they have probably because
of imagine people will say, you know, how do you
go two years in a row without securing your your
wide your true wide receiver too. It's no offense to
Calvin Austin, but you need look at George. Look at
how well George Pickens is doing as the wide receiver
to roll in Dallas.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
You know, Ceedee Lamb is clearly the wide receiver one.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
George was able to step up in his absence, but
now with see the back they're still both killing it.
So I think I think there's a lot of criticism
that can easily be laid upon him on the Steelers
for not getting that wide receiver two and or rather
having that wide receiver two in the building when you
brought over DK and you kept George and letting George.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
Go when you first got DK.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
That was the immediate thought, right, wow, look at this
receiving due Right on the other I think we were
excited to see that, but you know, we know the
baggage and luggage that came with George Pickens during his
three years as a Pittsburgh Steeler, So it made sense
from that Excuse me, from that standpoint, as I get
choked up thinking about George Pickens, and I'm just kidding,
but he hard.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
Some people do get choked up when when talking about it,
maybe not in a positive one light.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
Now let's move on the one in six Titans against
the six and one Colts.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
Boy, a lot of one wins.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
Yeah, it's not a great week. It's not a great
matchup week. Well, there's a lot of teams in the
bye two. We're now in the in the in the
hub of the season, so now you're really seeing a lot.
So now it's we've gone every week only having two
teams on the by. Now you got six teams on
the by this week.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Titans one and six, the Colts the Steelers next opponent
the following week, who are six and one. So for
Steer Nation, that game is at four to twenty five
CBS game. Not sure if we'll get that locally or not,
but if you haven't a chance to watch, you can scout
the Colts for next week. Who the Steelers role host
at akkor Shre Stadium in week nine?

Speaker 3 (25:24):
We should be it should be. I mean that's spread
right now. I'm looking at it's fourteen and a half.
I think you got to take the points. I think
you had to take the Colts in that one.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
Yeah, I think they covering that one. We'll have to
wait and see Packers Steelers. We'll get to our pick
in a second. Let's talk about the Monday night football matchup.
Only one game this week, which, by the way, I
read something yesterday, Jacob, it looks like for the rest
of the season are only be one Monday night football game.
We talked last week we doubles. Yeah, they should double
it up every week.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
I mean, the NFL is on that mission to take
over every night of the every night of the calendar week,
and that includes having doubleheaders on Mondays.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
And while we're on our wish list, do seven o'clock
at eight o'clock so we can we can go back
U Yeah, right right, seven o'clock, ten o'clock. Ten o'clock's
too late. Yeah, don't do the ten o'clock. Even though
those West Coast teams make them play at eight to four.
For US East, those guys Commanders three and four, Chiefs
four and three Commanders are reeling.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
They've had a lot of injuries. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
Jdals is slated to miss this game. Okay, Yeah, they
got banged up last week. So with that in mind,
Marcus Mariota against the Chiefs, as you were just talking,
as you were just talking about, they're on a two
game win streak, really impressive win two weeks ago against
the Lions and they blew out the Raiders thirty one
to nothing. Should be an easy, easy go about it

(26:33):
for the Chiefs who are playing in Kansas City in Arawhead.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Chiefs continue to get right after that slow start. If
they win this one, they're five and three and they're
in that top ten power ranking conversation if they weren't
this past week. Lions, Raiders, Rams, Cardinals, Seahawks, and Jaguars.
As you said, Jacob, a lot of teams. We got
six of them this week on a bye week here
in Week eight. Okay, Packers four to one and one,

(26:57):
Pittsburgh Steelers four and two.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
Do you like? Do you have a score?

Speaker 3 (27:02):
I like the Packers in this one, but I think
it could be another highest scoring game. I think this
I think Aaron Rodgers could throw out some magic, especially
if Calvin Austin will be on the field. That'll be
a huge help to them or or to him specifically.
I got the Packers though in this one twenty eight
Steelers twenty one, twenty eight to twenty one, I.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
Am going to go with the Pittsburgh Steelers in a close, close,
low scoring game, low scoring, Okay, I'm gonna go seventeen
fourteen Bo's.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
Game winner at the end. How about to have.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
Our preseason predictions what we had for we didn't have
the scores, but we had the results.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
I do just give me a second here to cough
that out here at the end, I have it here summer, Okay.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
So you and.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
I had let's see, I had them winning this game.
You had them losing this.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Yeah, I'm gonna stick with that prediction. So I had them.
We both had them losing it.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
Since we never even talked about this last week we
were did we say we got to We both had
them losing against Cincinnati last week, and we both have
them beating the Colts next week. But neither of us
at that time at the beginning of the season thought.

Speaker 2 (28:07):
The Colts who they are.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
So, I mean, there's sixty one right now, they're going
to improve the seven and one when they beat Tennessee
this week.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Seven and one for Indianapolis. Never saw that coming.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
I think for the Steelers. You have to split these
next two. I mean, best case scenario.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Minim yeah, I mean, I don't know if it's it's
really tough.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Best case you win both of them.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
Man, you lose both of them in your four and four,
then our show here gets a lot more interesting as
we go throughout.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
But I think it's a close loads.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
Because everybody's saying high scoring shootout, the defense is gonna struggle.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
I'm gonna go the opposite.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
I think this is a low scoring, grinded out game
and maybe a BOS game winner.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Out take it. If it means the Steelers win, out take.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
It, we'll talk about it on Monday, that's for sure
here on the Standard, as we will be able to
recap not only the Steelers Sunday night matchup against the
Green Bay Packers, but also the other.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Week eight games. Enjoy your football week and everyone.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
