Speaker 2 (00:01):
It's in the two thousand and eight NFL drafts.

Speaker 3 (00:04):
Carolina's Panther slick Jonathan.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Stewart gifts to Stewart.

Speaker 4 (00:07):
He leaves touched up.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
Stewart oh rough tough right, angry man out at elbows, knees.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Stewart hesitates, accelerates. That's what I'm talking about.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Fit the spash Moll football contain Stuart cut running room.
Stewart jump over a tackler at the tenth flow jumping
Laura's his shoulder, keeps running. No one will touch him.
Jonathan Stewart house does it? You talk about explosive plays
in the run game. It's like the fourth of July
around here.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Right now you are listening to Stu and the crew.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Stu and the crew.
It's week twelve. The Carolina Panthers are six and five.
It's a good time to be alive. We have two
special guys as our guest today. You know, Carolina's finest
in my opinion, uh, Chris Lane and Corey Lane. Ladies

(00:57):
and gentlemen, welcome to the show. Guys, y'all doing man?
How y'all feeling how we living good?

Speaker 5 (01:04):
The Panthers got above five hundred again and got something
to root for, and man, I lived for this time
of year.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Yeah, man, that's it's of the year.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
There's no doubt about it.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, man, I mean it's it's so interesting how our
paths cross, right. You know, I'm gonna take the fans
right now back to a moment, a couple of moments
that I had Chris, uh where Coyote Joe sticks out
the most to me, because we.

Speaker 6 (01:36):
Need a video to show everybody how incredible this moment was.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
You know. So I'm there with my fam with my friends,
and you were kind enough to give us some tickets
to the concert. You and Corey on stage. Uh, Corey,
you got on that got up there and got on
the mic too at one point during the during that concert,
but we got I got on there, and luckily you

(02:02):
you had a song that I knew that I could sing.
Montell Jordan, this is how we do it.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Oh yeah, yeah, you're right. I was. I was thinking
which song was that? But you're right, this is how
we do it. That was one. We don't play it anymore,
but you know what, if you want to come out
to a show. I'll be glad to throw that back
in the set and get you out there.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Let's go, boy.

Speaker 6 (02:23):
But yeah, what what a moment and obviously a super
hype song. Uh to get the crowd into it, and
then obviously just to have the Goat up there doing
it himself. Had the had the crowd in Carolina going
crazy there at Cadi Joe's.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
It was a fun moment. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
I was a choir boy, so I can hold a
note or two, you know.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
So, oh yeah, you're you're legit dude.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Yeah, man, appreciate you to a.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Chris Lane featuring Jonathan Stuart collab.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Bro, we definitely need to do that. That's in the cars.
Ladies and gentlemen. Don't rush us. You can't rush greatness.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Now, we need some country music over there.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Me and Corey we be jamming in the golf cart
about every two weeks or so, it seems like now
playing golf. You got to come out here to Carolina
so we can do the same.

Speaker 6 (03:11):
Well, dude, if I can stop having kids, I eventually
get free to do that.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Which, by the way, congratulations on your baby girl.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Thank you man.

Speaker 6 (03:20):
Yeah, we're we're four days now. I think from being
home from the hospital. So that part feels good. Yeah,
just glad to have everybody happy, healthy, But yeah, we
are exhausted this there's been hardly no sleep since we've
been home. That's just kind of part of it. You know,
Corey was smart. He was smart enough to stop after one.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
So Corey, man, you got some wisdom there to share
with anyone.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
Yeah, I was one and done, and I did it
earlier in life, so he's now doing it much later
in life. So now my son's about to be fifteen
years old, and now we're just kick back, playing golf together.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
All the time.

Speaker 6 (04:03):
And I love seeing how many kids you got.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
I got two daughters. I got an eight year old
and I got a four year old, Kaya and Nora.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
There are both joys to our world. And you know,
just it's awesome. Man, when you're able to be a parent,
you know, that's when you really start to form this
this understanding of what life is all about, right, you know,
passing down the legacy. And they make you better, right,
they make you better men, you know if you're a woman,
and make you a better woman because you know, they're everything,

(04:40):
they're they're everything that you live for at that point
on right, you know, you owe everything to them as
far as giving them the best opportunity to excel in life.
And and you want to make sure you're a representation
of who you want them to become, right and and
so it's it's it's it's a beautiful thing man, to
be a parent.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Well, it's my first girl. Give me some advice since
you've got to.

Speaker 6 (05:03):
You know, I have a four year old boy a
three year old boy. Who are they become best friends,
but they are wild and just the energy does not stop.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
I'm interested to see how it goes with the girl.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Well, she's going to be a tough one, that's what
I can tell you. Yeah, she's got two brothers that
are going to be watching after so you have to
you don't have to worry about that. But I would
say this man, just be you know, having girls makes
you makes you softer, which is a good thing. I think.
You know, as men, we we are taught to be
hard and strong, and you know, our feelings sometimes need

(05:39):
to be you know, put on the back burner. But
you know, they bring up the best of you in
that department. They make you realize, you know, what's important
and you try to cherish those those moments where there's tears.
You know, you you want you want to be the
dad that you know they respect as far as what

(05:59):
you have to tell them, but you also want to
be you know, you want to have the you want
to give them the confidence and knowing that they can
they can come to you with anything. Right. So yeah,
so just being a good listener. That's basically how I
am at the house. I am surrounded by women and
I listen and I.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Listened smart man.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
But dude, let's get to these panthers. Man, huh, how would.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
How about.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
I'm I'm uh personally, I'll let Corey speak on how
he's feeling.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
But I've been so up and down.

Speaker 6 (06:39):
Obviously, we had so many great weeks there in a
row where we just it wasn't pretty, but we found
a way to win. And at the end of the day,
that's all that matters.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
I'll take a win. I don't care if it's three
to two, one to Zeroah.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Yeah, I was that? How was that? How was at
Corey's house the other day for for your guys birthday?
You were you were in there, Chris? What?

Speaker 1 (07:06):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (07:09):
No, but you know he was there and he was like,
you can feel you can feel the temperature reading on him,
which was it's my birthday and all, but I don't
really care. I just want the Panthers to win tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
It's literally the only thing I wanted for my birthday
was for the Panthers to win.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Tomorrow, and they did not. They did not.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
But it's like it.

Speaker 5 (07:32):
Is one of those things where week by week, man,
you just you gotta come be prepared because anybody can
be anybody. Obviously we're seeing that this year, I feel
like more than ever because you know, we go into
Green Bay and then Green Bay before that look like
the team that could be going to the Super Bowl.
So it's like week to week, I mean, you we

(07:53):
I felt like maybe went in and took the Saints
a little bit light and they came into the house, and.

Speaker 6 (07:59):
Just so you know, you got to find a way.
I think find a way just over these next two games.
We got two really tough teams that we're about to play.
We got to find a way to sneak out at
least one UH from them to keep our UH to
to keep the fire alive, and and obviously we need

(08:19):
Tampa Bay to to keep dropping the ball here as
well and to keep.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Us in it. But man, it feels good. You know.

Speaker 6 (08:27):
The last three or four years have been really tough
so as a fan to watch and and just you.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Know, every year is a new year.

Speaker 6 (08:34):
That's what we're always saying in the beginning, and when
it doesn't work out, it's just it's uh, it makes
it tough for sure.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
But this year we're putting up a fight. I love
uh love.

Speaker 6 (08:44):
The to see the team fighting uh every week and
just praying that it all works out here in the end.
My kids have definitely seen a different side of me
on Sunday. I mean, I'm screaming at the TV. I'm
going crazy. They're they're excited for it.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
They love it. They can't wait till Sunday now to
watch football because I'm so animated.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
That's awesome. That's how you create fandom, right. You know,
you guys a book from Curnersville, Carolina, Like ladies and gentlemen,
shout out to your your hometown. You know when you guys,
what was it like for you guys to become Panther fans?

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Right?

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Like?

Speaker 2 (09:19):
You know the Panthers came here in ninety five and
like where were you guys at, Like what were y'all?
You know, you know, you guys are athletes. You guys
played football in high school, had baseball talent as well,
Like give give me a rundown. As far as how
you became a Panthers fan.

Speaker 6 (09:38):
Well, we both ended up playing baseball there at You
and See Charlotte for four years, so we got to
spend a lot of time in Charlotte, and naturally, being
from Curnersville, we were Panther fans from the very moment
they came into the league. Now, I will say my fandom,
I can speak for both of us on this. Our
fandom kind of grew over the years, and then we

(09:59):
start getting into the glory years with You and Cam
and just those teams that were so much fun to watch.
I think we went from being great fans to super
fans and absolutely psychotic over every single game. The last
three or four years has been so difficult because I

(10:21):
feel like my weekly mood depended on whether the Panthers
or not.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
But we've spent.

Speaker 5 (10:28):
Months just down the dumps, hoping the next week we
would turn it around, and we just never could do it.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
Oh man, man, the Panthers out here making people depressed,
but not this year.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
See, now we're on the high highs right now, So
which are feeling helpful for you know, years to come.
I feel like because you know, regardless of whether we
make the playoffs this year, I still feel hopeful because
I feel like some signs of like building on at
least something right now.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Yeah, that's what's so special about sports, right, Like, you know,
you have a sports team that brings people together but
also sets the tempo for people's week. You know, games
on Sunday, people go to church on Sunday. But you know,
during football season, you know, people come together in these
stadiums and they're there for one cause and one cause only.

(11:17):
It's to see their team and rut their team onto victory.
And when you do have a season like the Carolina
Panthers are having right now coming out of the Ashes,
you know, you guys obviously are fans from day one.
You now get to experience you know, the the weight,
the weight is over almost right, it's now we got

(11:40):
to five hundred. Now we're above five hundred. Now we
are in the middle of the season, eleven games in.
We don't even have we have our bye week still too, right,
So there's a lot of things that are kind of
matching up into our favor. But as every fan, there's
always the emotional Panther fan, and then there's the then
there's the the lotional Panther fan. Corey, which one are you.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
Between? Delusional and what? What was the other one?

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Emotional?

Speaker 5 (12:08):
I'm emotional, but I'm so fair because I'm just like, like,
I used to get so mad when we were losing
stuff like that, but now I'm just like, I'm trying
to understand. I'm just so hopeful just for I feel
like where we're headed into a much better place. So emotional,
Me and Chris both are highly emotional. On Calway from

(12:29):
watching games with me over the years, is one of
the most emotional kids I've ever.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Seen in my life. I almost can't bear to watch
a game with him now.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Yeah, is he just stressed out?

Speaker 5 (12:40):
We've always both of us and now callaway. We I
feel like we lived and died upon every single play,
Like if we didn't get the first name, we're like,
oh my god, it's over.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
All doing the first round of the game.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Yeah, well, let me tell you guys, You guys need
to relax. Okay, maybe we all just need to go
sit down and watch football, and so you guys can
learn how to would be correct, just be calm composed
so that way no one gets hurt.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
Yes, what is so I've got a question for you?
What is it like.

Speaker 6 (13:11):
As someone who wasn't just good in the league and
a stud, but just an absolute uh beast and and
someone who dominated? What is it like for you right now?
Uh to sit and watch the games?

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (13:29):
From your standpoint of things like you're I don't You're
probably not going to be as emotional as us because
you played the game and you kind of, uh you
get it a little bit more. But I'm just from
from someone who's played in the game at a very
high level and been incredible.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
What is it like for you watching the games now?

Speaker 2 (13:44):
That's a good question.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Are you like I want to be out there so bad?

Speaker 2 (13:47):
That's a good question, you know, And and it doesn't
it's not what people think, right Like, I'm retired. And
when I retired, that meant I know I cannot play football.
I know I cannot perform anymore. And I actually became
I became a real life Panther fan when I retired,
I didn't expect it. I didn't expect to really, you know,

(14:11):
be so connected and so invested as a fan as
I am now. And it's a little different. I'd have
my moments where I'm like, yo, what are we doing?
Or what's he doing? Or like what was that? Or
come on, ref you know, there's a lot of moments
where I get disappointed and and I think those are
the moments where you become a fan because when you're

(14:33):
just when you are disappointed, when you are let down,
but for whatever reason, when it's Sunday, you still believe. Right,
there's an opportunity that this thing can can shift. And
it's been that way for a long time. It's been
that way for majority of my retired, retired life as
a as a football player. You know, I've been watching

(14:56):
the Panthers go up with go through their ups and
downs and and we're and I'm now you know, now
it's paying dividends, right, you know last year when I
believed when nobody did. But the year before that, when
I believe when nobody did. You know, it's it's basically
stacking those chips. It's it's the investment of belief and

(15:16):
when you are going through those hard seasons and you
get a season like we're seeing now. We're six and five,
We're a half half game away from being the leader
in our division. We have you know what people say,
you know, the hardest, one of the hardest schedules left
to finish out the rest of the season. But how
I see it is we have an opportunity to really

(15:39):
showcase to the world how good we are. Because in
all essence, as you guys know, you guys play ball,
you don't want to peak in the middle of the season,
in the beginning of the season, or even at the
end of regular season. You want to start peaking right
there in playoffs, right Yeah, and so we are ascending
right on time in my opinion, I agree. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
So yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (16:05):
Got a question for you, Jay Suit.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
Obviously you did it at the highest level and the
biggest games and all that. Obviously just from us playing
sports our whole life and stuff like that and getting
a small feel for you know, I just can't imagine
being now on the field and being the person to
score the touchdowns and stuff like that. What is the
feeling for you, especially like when you score and then
you're looking up into the stands because obviously we're just

(16:28):
seeing it from a sweet standpoint or up in the stands, whatever, and.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
We're all losing our minds. It's just got to be
like the greatest feeling ever.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
It is one of the greatest feelings ever. When you
come out onto that field and you hear the noise.
You hear, you know, this static noise that's so consistent, right,
and when you do something really well, you know, you
hear these peaks of that static noise. Basically, it's electric.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
Man.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
When you go out into that field and we have
you know, offensive player inductions for a week or so,
and they call your name from the you know, the
University of Oregon running back Jonathan Stewart, and then you
go out there and the smoke clears away, and then
you just jump with I used to just jump out
of the tunnel because I had so much energy out

(17:17):
of nowhere, right, and that was the only way that
I could release it. And then once you release it,
it's game time, right. You go out there, you jog
out into the field, and moments when you score a touchdown,
you know, I think in the moment, you're just really
looking to celebrate with your teammates. And when Cam came
along and started giving the ball to fans, you know,

(17:41):
it became about that. It became about Okay, let me
share this moment with the fans. Let's this is us.
You guys helped us do this. Like obviously we're out
here on the field and we're executing the plays. But
on home games and when and even more so on
away games, the appreciation for hearing the fans in the stands,
we hear you, especially in these you know, we're down

(18:02):
there in Tampa Bay, you know Carolina, you know Ron Riot,
all those people, they they travel so well, and when
you see a Panther fan from far away, you're saying,
I see you and I appreciate you. Uh yeah, And
that goes a long way. But it's a it's an
electric feeling, you know, when you're when you're experiencing that noise.
It's no different in my opinion, from what you guys

(18:24):
experience when you're on the stage and you guys are
at concerts, right and people are singing your songs word
for word, and it's like, man, this appreciation for something
that I've spent so much time on and being vulnerable,
you know, showcasing you know, what's on my heart, what's
on you know, and and being on the drums, and
and and and and making sure that the rhythm is

(18:46):
set because Corey, if the if the drum is off,
the song's off, right, So like that, and so you know,
you take this pride into what you're doing for the fans,
and you're just so glad, and so you have so
much gratitude for being able to to, you know, just
to share that with with the fans. So, I mean,
you guys experienced the same thing.

Speaker 6 (19:06):
It's just different, yep, talking about electric I wish you
could find the clip and put up put it up
on the screen here for everybody to see. But I
have a very vivid or memory of this. We're out
on the tour bus, out on tour at the time.
I think, uh, we're we on tour with Florida Georgia
Line or Rascal Flats at the time. I don't remember specifically,
but we're watching I believe it's a playoff game. Maybe

(19:33):
it was Seattle, You'll have to remind me, but it
was the the first play of the game. You take
the handoff, yeah, and you're just off to the races.
And I remember all of us on the bus as
diehard fans. We thought we had just won the dag
on Super Bowl. We were going absolutely psychotic, and everybody
on that tour, yeah, Seattle, you're right, you're right. Wasn't

(19:53):
it the first play of the game.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
And just take it first play of the game. And
I was just coming off of a broken foot, so yeah, yeah, yeah,
I came out of I think smoking Mike. I followed
Mike Tolbert, and I heard a collision and I knew
it was time for me to go.

Speaker 6 (20:11):
You know, I tell my kids all the time, they're
they're really starting to get into football right now, and
it's so much fun for me to see. And we're
just we're playing upstairs in the house and they're just
tackling each other, to each other to the ground, and
I'm throwing past them, like all right.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
Let's make the world's greatest catches.

Speaker 6 (20:27):
And I put like this pad on the ground and
I'll throw it and they're diving. And as their dad,
who loves football, it is incredible to see because that's
all I've ever dreamed of, Like, please give me an
athletic kid of some kind.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
And both of them are loving it.

Speaker 6 (20:42):
But I'm always like, come on, bro, you gotta be
be smod like if they get hurt.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
I'm like, no, that's not what football players do. You
just be smo get through it.

Speaker 6 (20:52):
My father in law was telling me this morning when
I told I was jumping on with you, he was like,
I know, you say the word bestmo to your boy
is all the time. He was like, but you want
to know the definition of beast mode. He was like,
Jonathan Stewart at Oregon, you know he's a die.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
Hard Ducks fan, so we can talk about the Ducks.
The Ducks got a big one this week against USC.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
Oh, yes, you're right, they do.

Speaker 6 (21:16):
That will probably determine, uh which team goes to the playoff.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
Wow. Yeah, he'll be a wreck the entire week.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Then you should call him and give him some crap.

Speaker 6 (21:28):
Oh, trust me, he gives me so much crap over
the Panthers. And he's a Cowboys, diehard Cowboys fan, but
he's even more so of a real.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
Diehard Ducks fan.

Speaker 6 (21:38):
Like he's kind of a fair weather I shouldn't say diehard.
He's a fair weather Cowboys fan and enjoys watching the game,
but he's really into college football and Oregon Ducks.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Speaking of you know Cowboys fans, you know those are
the actual delusional fans.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
You're not wrong.

Speaker 4 (21:58):
I love when we beat them the year because that
I just had.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
I heard of me Yeah, I mean, oh yeah, we
were at that game.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
Everybody everybody counted us out too and that and man, yes,
I agree, Panthers showed up big. Well, speaking of you know,
the season, you're six and we're six and five. You
know what what game did you realize okay, the Panthers,
the Panthers might be back here? What what game was
that for you? Guys? Corey, Let's start with you.

Speaker 4 (22:26):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (22:27):
I mean, I was at the Miami game, and you know,
we're getting annihilated, and I remember sitting I'm up in
a suite and just I'm sitting behind the goldpost and
I remember just sitting up there and being like this,
this can't actually get any worse, because I think it
was seventeen zero at that point in time. But for
whatever reason, I still was just holding on for the

(22:48):
belief of the that we could somehow come back. And
so when we started coming back and then you know
what a win that was. And at the same time,
I felt like you could just see like, I feel
like we've not been down that much in a long
time and come back. So it's like I feel like
in that moment, you know, maybe this is something different

(23:09):
than what we've experienced in the past. Yeah, and then
we take we the next week meat the Cowboys, So
it was like or whenever that was, was.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
That back in back weeks?

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Yeah? I think it was.

Speaker 4 (23:20):
Yeah, So that's when I started like, Wow, we actually.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Yeah this special? What about you, Chris?

Speaker 6 (23:28):
I think for me it was it was in between
that Cowboys game like that that was a big win
and a huge momentum boat boost for.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
I think for the team.

Speaker 6 (23:39):
And then ultimately it's really that that win in Green Bay. Again,
it wasn't pretty by any means, but finding a way
to go in against a really great team in their
home field and to pull out a victory there that's
not easy to do, like they don't lose a ton
at home. So I think for me, that's when I realized,

(24:02):
all right, maybe we actually have something here. We just
have to find a way to uh just keep chipping away, man,
and keep getting little wins here and there. I was
praying that we could find a way you gotta go
take the Saints down like one in seven. Give me
a freaking break. You you beat you beat Green Bay
at home, and then turn around and lose to the Saints.

(24:22):
That was a very tough pill to swallow.

Speaker 5 (24:25):
But at least they any given Sunday, anybody can win.
You gotta come.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
Prepared every week with the same See, because.

Speaker 5 (24:35):
Being at that game, I felt like we it was
just like a weird feeling, like even in the crowd
seemed to be just like very like non energetic or whatever.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Yeah, it was very flat, right, Yeah, that flat game
became out flat fans were kind of expecting someone to
show up and no one showed up. And I think
that's a lesson learned, right, you know, because you're going
on away game and you go to that LAM and
you own Atlanta. Right, How where were you guys at
when you're watching that game? How did that make you

(25:06):
feel to be able to, you know, go into Atlanta
and finish that off with a sweep?

Speaker 1 (25:12):
You know?

Speaker 6 (25:12):
For me, I was I was at I was at
home obviously in newborn phase and trying to hold my
daughter in between losing my mind at the TV, and
and also my kids are wanting to play football outside.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
So I'm like, I'm like, I promise you, buddy, I'm coming.
I'm coming. Just let me finish this game. We got
eight minutes left, and he's like, eight minutes, that's forever.

Speaker 6 (25:33):
But so I have to move my operation outside to
my outdoor patio and I got the TV on, and
my neighbor who lives beside me shows up and he's like,
what's going on over here. I've never heard a grown
man scream at the TV, Like, I feel like I'm
missing out on something.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
I've got to watch this game with you.

Speaker 6 (25:51):
Yeah, and and so yeah, I was really down in
the dumps when we when we go down the field,
score right away and then go down twenty one seven.
I'm like, this is insane, Like we couldn't tackle. Robinson
was just running all over is doing whatever he wanted
to do, is say, he was bouncing off of everybody.
So I was feeling a little down in the dumps.
But you know what, the fact that they the defense

(26:14):
held him to six points in the second half, they
figured it out, and then when it mattered most, we
figured it out and we were able to pull it out.
And my kids they got the biggest kick. I went
running through the yard. I was screaming, they were excited.
I tackled him to the ground. It was just a hilarious,
incredible moment.

Speaker 5 (26:35):
I watched the game downstairs and on the big screen,
and we specifically made family photos from four twenty to
four forty because I was like, the game should be
more than likely over at that time. So we're terrible
fan here, man, and we're it's coming up at four
o'clock and we're like, I realized, like, we're we still

(26:58):
have a chance to win this game, and I have
to leave. So I've got the game on my phone
and we're we get there and then of course it
goes into overtime, but I'm trying to take photos with
my phone in my hand and like just put it
behind my back or on the ground or whatever, just.

Speaker 4 (27:12):
Trying to catch every single play.

Speaker 2 (27:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
So I finished the game like that. But man, I've
been so happy in my life.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
We were just, well, you guys are both clearly family, man,
because you guys are both multitasking and watching a critical moment.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
And this is true love.

Speaker 5 (27:30):
Because I can't imagine another life I would have ever
done this for anybody else.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
That's grounds for divorce right there. Man to schedule pictures
during the game.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
No, we don't want to say the D word, but
I will say this, man. Man, you guys are some
die hard fans. And and hopefully Chris your your neighbor,
is now converted Panther fan.

Speaker 6 (27:52):
Well, he's a Titans fan, don't He has absolutely nothing
to cheer out, you know.

Speaker 4 (28:00):
Speaking of Lena, she.

Speaker 5 (28:04):
Actually was the only year she cheered, she cheered for
the Carolina Panthers. Oh really, that's the year y'all went
to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
I did not know that.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
So she cheered for one year and retired.

Speaker 5 (28:14):
And at the beginning of the year, she's got her
cheerleading outfit up on the wall. And we lost the
first game, and I said, next game, you're gonna have
to put that uniform on. Since the last time we
I think I feel like I had a winning streak
was when you were cheering.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Well, Lena, you need to go ahead and find that
uniform and just wear it on Sundays. Okay, Due, it's
bigger than you, it's bigger than us.

Speaker 5 (28:39):
I said the same thing. But I'm gonna say Jay
Sue said, so, well, we have.

Speaker 2 (28:42):
It here we need to wear Hey, look, if you
cheered during twenty fifteen twenty sixteen, you need to put
the cheerleading jersey back on. I agree, yeah, put it
back on girl. No, but you know, before we get
out of here, I want to I want to transition
a little bit. Still keeping it, you know, panther a

(29:04):
little bit. Uh, Chris, how good are you at freestylin
on the spot?

Speaker 6 (29:10):
I'm not good at freestyling on the spot. That has
never been a never been a strength of mind.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
Yeah, but all right, well I'm good. I'm good at writing.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
Yeah, because I was, because I was because the other
day we were talking about Carolina Mike and and just
kind of like, it's awesome to see you know, a
fan obviously you know, get some exposure, but you know,
especially him, you know, with the music and whatnot. One
hundred and fifty thousand is a as a as a
top hit here in the Carolinas now. And we talked,

(29:43):
you know a little bit about you know, possibly doing
a remix and whatnot.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
Have we have Have.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
You guys ever made Carolina football esque type of song?

Speaker 6 (29:58):
No? But what I I will say as I just
wrote a song recently that I really love a lot.
In fact, I've written two songs recently that I really
love a lot around around sports or it's like a
sports sports related but one specifically, it's very football related

(30:21):
about a relationship and comparing a relationship to uh, to
your favorite football team being ranked preseason number one.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
So the song's called preseason number one Wow, and I.

Speaker 6 (30:35):
Used I used that as a metaphor for a relationship,
like these two people have everything that you would ever
want and a couple, and they're they they're you know,
just hot and heavy early.

Speaker 1 (30:47):
In like everything's perfect. You can just sense they're gonna
get married.

Speaker 6 (30:51):
Like if they were a football team, they're so perfect
for each other, they would both be.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Preseason number one.

Speaker 6 (30:56):
And then it it doesn't work out, they end up
breaking up uh at the end, and it's like, it's
hard to believe, man, we were preseason number one, like
we should have gone all the way uh And it's
crazy to think about, but but sometimes that's just not
the case. The best team doesn't always win. And I
feel like the song turned out so freaking well.

Speaker 4 (31:15):
Yeah, I love the song love really.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
We got to hear that, man, listen, I'll text it
to you.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
Yeah, let me know because we we might be able
to do something with that.

Speaker 1 (31:25):
We got we gotta do that. We gotta get Carolina.

Speaker 6 (31:28):
Mike uh in the writer's room, I'd have to zoom
just because, yeah, because of the baby situation. But I've
got an idea for for the song that I think
could work really well. I basically have a lot of
the course already written out. We just need some some
good verses.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
But uh, well, I'm pretty sure all the fans would
love that. So we need to we need to get
on that.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
Let's go count me in, dude, let me get.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
You guys did perform? You performed that? When did you
guys perform here at the Carolina at.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
The halftime show? And that was back in was that
twenty twenty.

Speaker 5 (32:11):
Mayfield, Baker and Christian McCaffrey. Then, but then we did
I think that was the last game before Matt Rule
got fired.

Speaker 6 (32:17):
It was also the game Baker Mayfield got hurt because
I remember he came out to the bus on crutches,
and we're like, oh no, no.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
No, Well, speaking of the guys that are not here anymore,
we're based the Panthers playoff dreams are in their hands
a little bit. You know, if we played Baker Mayfield twice,
we played Christian On on Monday Night Football and we
play Sam Darnold.

Speaker 1 (32:43):
Yes, Seahawks so crazy.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
There's a lot of guys out there that are kind of,
you know, feeling some type of way about the Carolina Panthers.
There might be a song in that at some point too. No, man,
you guys, so you got a new album out, let's
talk about that.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
Yeah, a new album out called Shade Tree.

Speaker 6 (33:05):
By far, my most favorite record that I've ever recorded,
from top to bottom. I had a hand and writing
ninety nine point nine percent of the songs on it,
and yeah, man, it's it was a mix between I think,
five years from my last record, and that's because the
industry kind of changed a lot and moved more towards

(33:28):
getting singles out as quickly as you possibly could. So
I started taking that route. But then people started putting
out records again, and I thought, you know what, I
would love to do that. When I first got into
the industry, you know, my records were at Target and
Walmart and we were still in that age is where
CDs were still a thing, which is freaking nuts for
me to think about where we were there.

Speaker 2 (33:50):
Oh, I agree, I am that's what I happened. I'm
all old on here.

Speaker 6 (33:57):
But yeah, it's it's it's one of those things that
I just picked what I thought were h my twelve
best songs eleven best songs, whichever it ended up being,
and throw them out in the world. And then recently,
I just released a cover of an Elevation song that
I love so much that's meant so much to me

(34:19):
over the years for a lot of different reasons, called
Oh Come to the Ature, and I feel like it
was really just a way for me to let fans
in on a little bit more of who I am,
not only as an artist, but as a human and
father and all that kind of stuff. So yeah, just
excited to have a bunch of new music out in
the world. And again, I'm constantly right and literally almost

(34:41):
every day, and I feel really good where I'm.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
At right now. Man, it's been it's been a blessing.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
Well that's awesome, dude. I'm pretty sure everything's out there
on every platform, so make sure you go check out
the new music, especially that Oh Come to the I
remember so when I saw that on Instagram, I was like,
whoa okay, because that's one of my favorite songs as well.
And you know I'm a true believer in you know,

(35:12):
you get an opportunity to share your testimony, yeah, you
better do it. And I think that's an awesome way
for you to be able to establish that, you know,
bond in that connection with your fans, to let them
know that you know, you don't do this life alone.
There there's a guy that's, you know, always looking down
and making sure that everything's straight. Before we guys go though,

(35:35):
you know, fans, you know, I know that you're upset
that this time has come to an end. But before
they go, Corey, I want to start with your keep
pounding What does it mean to you? And give me
you know, in some insight as far as you know
how you had to how you may have had to

(35:58):
live that through in a part of your life. If
you don't mind sharing.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
I don't mind. It's a good question.

Speaker 5 (36:07):
The keep pounting, obviously, to me, just means you just
keep getting up, you know, whether it's life's hard or not,
just keep going. And uh, I guess a keep pounting
moment for me would be, you know, when we first
started out in music and stuff like that. We Man,
it was not easy because when you're at the bottom
and you're touring NonStop for basically no money, and in

(36:32):
that point in time, I had a new son, So
the constantly being gone and not making a ton of money,
you know, you have to start having those thoughts creep in, man, like,
is this should I just give this up and just
you know, maybe give a little more stable stability and
stuff like.

Speaker 4 (36:51):
That for him.

Speaker 5 (36:53):
But we just kept plugging away and kept or less
and kept pounding more or less, and you know, here
we are today, and I'm so thankful that we kept
pounding because it has just been the best life slash
constantly getting a play incredible golf courses across the country.
And I look back on it to think, man if

(37:14):
I just did not just keep on pounding through that,
I'd have missed out on so much.

Speaker 4 (37:19):
Yeah, it was.

Speaker 5 (37:23):
It was so hard that looking back on it now,
I don't think I could ever do go back through that.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Yeah. I mean, you only get one life, so that's
a good thing.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
Yeah. Yeah, I think.

Speaker 6 (37:33):
Corey really noted it on the head there. I mean,
I think for me the same thim.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
That's that's the.

Speaker 6 (37:39):
In this industry is so freaking hard, and there's so
many artists, and uh, when you're traveling through the middle
of the night driving yourself from city to city and
you're exhausted and you're you're losing I mean as as
uh as the guy who was the artist. You know,
I was paying my guys just a little bit of

(38:01):
money at the time.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
I didn't have anything, And.

Speaker 6 (38:06):
It's easy to get I understand why people give up
in that moment. It's hard, like it feels impossible, but
I think you just got to believe in yourself and
hang on if you truly do believe in yourself, and
anything's possible.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
So yeah, we're both thankful that we were able to
keep pounding.

Speaker 6 (38:26):
Through all those late sleepless nights trying to get to
the next city, to literally lose money just to get
on stage and play in front of people. And it
feels good to work hard for something and to finally
see it pay off in the end, especially from two
boys from little old Kernesville, North Carolina. Man, you just
we never thought any of this was even possible, didn't

(38:48):
even know where to begin. And the fact that we
get to do it now together, and like you said,
It's the most joyous thing in the entire world is
getting off that tour bus in the morning. Wherever we're at,
I already have a great golf course set up, get up,
play golf, and then just get ready for the show
at night.

Speaker 4 (39:07):
Man.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
There's truly nothing better than that.

Speaker 6 (39:10):
Yeah, man, So we got to get you out on
the road with this road.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
I'm ready to go on tour. Man, Let's do it.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
Give me a couple of songs. The scene we can get.
We get now, we're gonna write a song. I forgot
about that. There we go, all right, and then this
is actually the last one. Bryce Young, coming off of
a four hundred and forty eight yard record breaking performance
in Atlanta, he walks into your garage right now, because
that's where you are. Chris, what is one thing that

(39:40):
you What is one thing that you would tell Bryce
before going into the Niners game on Monday.

Speaker 6 (39:47):
I'd say, first and foremost, Bryce, I hate to ask you,
but can you help me get some of these leaves
up in my yard?

Speaker 1 (39:53):
They're coming down?

Speaker 6 (39:58):
Man, I'd say, just be a dog like, go in there,
go get it, want it bad.

Speaker 1 (40:05):
And get the team hyped up.

Speaker 6 (40:08):
You know the Niners are gonna be a tough team,
but we beat Green Bay, we beat Dallas, We beat
a lot of really tough teams this year. Just get
the team hyped up, man, and be ready to go.
Coming off of an incredible game, let's make it another
incredible game right behind it.

Speaker 2 (40:24):
I love it. What about you, Corey? What would you
tell him?

Speaker 5 (40:28):
I honestly would say I would because I've actually thought
about this because growing up and I play quarterback and
stuff like that, I could not see over the lone
in high school.

Speaker 4 (40:38):
I always had to do rollouts. So I'm just.

Speaker 5 (40:40):
Shocked for him to be able to make those passes
and all that, and I mean he's not he's probably
just my same hyped as well. So it's incredible to
see him do that last week and we know that
he can do it. I would just be like, whatever
you just did there, just keep on rocking with that,
because that was incredible.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
Man.

Speaker 1 (40:59):
Yeah, he's we've met we've met him before.

Speaker 6 (41:01):
I know obviously you've spent probably a lot of time
around him, but he seems like the most genuinely nice guy. Uh,
But on Monday night football, no more, mister nice.

Speaker 1 (41:12):
Guy, Get out there. And and uh and do it big.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
Thank you. I believe you will, man, and I think
a lot of fans are ready for it. This is
the this is our moment, man. You know, this is goot.
You know we're closing in on the end of the
season and we're gonna keep it rocking and playoffs. So
I think we're gonna get it. I think these boys
are gonna get it done. I think Cans is doing
a good job of bringing everybody together and and and
meeting guys where they are right. You know, it's just

(41:38):
awesome to see them play together with so much confidence.
So I think the Niners are going to be in trouble.
So we'll see.

Speaker 1 (41:45):
But absolutely I love to hear that.

Speaker 2 (41:47):
Thank you guys for joining me. Uh, talking like we're
just in the living room. Thank you listeners for tuning
in to the stew and the crew. Uh. We will
check back with you next week. All right, we out that.
I won't m M that about the bad
