Speaker 1 (00:00):
Victory for the Houston Texans twenty six to fifteen to
go to three and four as C. J. Stroud goes
over three hundred yards for the first time in his
last twenty one games three eighteen thirty of thirty nine,
two touchdowns, one pick, quarterback rating one zero six. Texans
run the ball very well today, get the victory over
the forty nine Ers defense coming up big time after
(00:21):
time again, Dre, what's the pass rush report?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Yeah, our HIB sack report. And we kind of went
round and around about this for a while because he
kept changing it back and forth. The Texans had two
sacks in today's game. Derrick Barnett had the first, and
in Will Anderson got full credit for the second. We
were being told that it was split between he and Hunter,
and then finally they settled on will Anderson alone. As
(00:47):
part of Sacks for Hunger, HIB will donate one thousand
dollars to the Houston Food Bank every time the Texans
sacked the quarterback. The HIB Sack Attack is brought to
you by HB the official tailgate headquarters of Houston Texans
so Andre.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Coming into the game, the Texans were thirty first in
the league in third down conversions today nine of sixteen
fifty six percent.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
That's getting it done. That's getting it done. It's gonna help,
and not all of it. Mark was third and short.
They had to overcome some third and sevens, third and
nine at times. And the small guys I called them
small because I played with a bunch of them and
they were in the slot. Those two guys, Barrios and Noel,
were magical in the first half of this game, bailing
(01:30):
out the Texans in third down situations several times. On
that opening drive they were able to come up big,
and then all throughout the game they really stepped up
their play.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Barrios had five catches, had to leave the game at
one point with an injury.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
The Cyclones came up big. We needed them to.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Xavier Hutchinson five catches at a touchdown, Jaalen Nol five catches,
had that big forty four yard or part of a
field goal drive, no part of a touchdown drive actually,
and Higgins had four catches including a touchdown. So what
did you make of that pass catching effort overall? With
no Nicocollins and Christian Kirk available today.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Well, the guy that I thought would make the biggest
impact did and that was Xavier Hutchinson with his five
catches for sixty nine yards and then had a touchdown
on the end of that. It was the other two
cyclones that really stepped up today, and we had to
have it from everybody. With the protection that was there.
Someone had to separate and coverage, someone had to get
(02:26):
themselves open, someone had to reel the ball in and
make plays in the three cyclones. I'll throw Dalton Schultz
in there as well, and then Barrios stepping in as
well at times. Woody Marks with a big fifty yard
catch and run that was It was tremendous. The way
the ball was distributed all day long, didn't give the
(02:47):
forty nine ers an opportunity to just beat in on
one guy and just have to stop one. Everybody was
making plays in the passing game.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Well, you brought it up during the broadcast. The protection
looked pretty good today, see Jays time.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
That was the best up in a long long time,
not just this year, but some of last year as well. Yeah,
and so you're gonna have a successful season, get this
thing turned around and pointed in the right way, then
you're gonna have to have that type of protection every
single week.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
And what about running the football.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
They got a good number of yards out of Marx
and Chubb combining for well over one hundred Mark sixty
two yards Chubb fifty six, and they end up running
the football for one fifty seven.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Now, what might be as effective of all as all
of that that you just described CJ with his legs
with seven carries for thirty because some of them were
in very big moments in this game where they needed
him to will pull it down and make plays. And
I think he's getting better about that in terms of
making decisions to do it.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Big picture, Yes, the Niners are under man, but they
win these games. Often they're five and two coming in
time for first in the NFC.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Wight. Yeah, and you were.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Able to dictate things to them today the way we
wanted to see the Texans operate as especially at home.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
There is a feeling after you leave this game that
the Texans dominated the game. The amount of three and
outs that the defense produced, holding them to just fifteen points,
that's still you know, you know they can still do that,
and just getting themselves off the field making plays. The
two sacks, the interception to go with it, This was
(04:21):
a Texans dominant performance on both sides. We talked about
the offense and the protection, the run game, guys catching passes,
CJ with one of his better games, over three hundred
yards in the air and two touchdowns, and then the
defense doing what it did. This is as good as
they've looked in a minute.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Robert Hensley handed me the four to three and outs
by the defense today, So that is awesome. With Denver
coming in next week and they're gonna be tough to
deal with, but right now, the Texans can take a
deep breath after knocking out the San Francisco forty nine
ers twenty six to fifteen, going to three and four.
The record is not anything anyone's gonna celebrate right now, No,
(05:00):
but you gotta get moving in the right direction and
starting the three game homestand out on the right.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Note was crucial. Today.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
We'll be back to recap more of this one and
take a peek at the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
This is Texans Radio.
