Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello Texans, Welcome to the show. We have got a
beauty for you here tonight with Cad Stover coming up
in a few moments and looking forward to this one.
Cad Stover back in business at tight End last week,
played first time since Week one. We'll get into all
of it with Cad and also later on as you
might know, CJ Stroud was on Pat McAfee yesterday. We

(00:21):
will play a big chunk of that conversation because it
was really good and McAfee really was very humble in
talking to CJ and gave him a lot of praise
for what happened at the formerly called Loudhouse now Stroudhouse
or Nico Collins Stadium up in Indianapolis, as I like
to refer to it, because he's got big games there.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
I mean, on the McFee show.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Is funny because I watched it and listen to it
and somebody put on Twitter, I don't know who it was,
that picture of Lucas Oil and it just said the
Stroudhouse data ful. It was beautiful, so beautiful. I give
McAfee credit. You know that's got his sting. I mean
obviously loves the Colts' they're in Indianapolis played for the
Colts for many, many years, but he's had CJ on

(01:05):
that show after he has driven a steak through Colts
Hearts and they're so complimentary of him.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
They give him so many kudos.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
And obviously CJ's great on a mic, and he was fantastic.
And of course they talked about their house Date Mission
game too, which is cool.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
We'll talk to Kate about that.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Kate, I'm sure, was pretty excited for the Buckeyes as
well his buck eyes. But we got a great interview
coming with Kate, so I'm really excited about that.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
All right.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
So I wanted to go here first because now that
it's Tuesday and you sort of move on, Yeah, from
last week and Winter lose, you start to move on
and really move into the next week. And the next
week is the Chiefs, and you've earned the right. It's
kind of like Herb Brooks, You've earned the right to
play in this game. I'm kind of using Paccino as

(01:51):
well as Herb Brooks. Yeah, Johnny, the game has such magnitude.
I'm trying to keep it together here.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
Yeah, me too.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
But I started thinking about this one as this is
one of the.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Biggest games we've ever played.

Speaker 5 (02:03):
Really.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Now, you could talk about Colts in regular season finale
last year and every win was crucial down the stretch
two years ago. Every win down the stretch was crucial
last year, so you could talk about all that in
twenty nineteen. Look, you needed all those wins down the
stretch to clinch the division. And I don't know, Johnny,
you're playing the rulers of the AFC. It reminds me

(02:27):
of twenty twelve going to New England in that you
had a better record than them. They were still the Kings, yep,
but you were the newbie and you were ready to conquer.
But apparently not because it didn't go well in a
primetime game in Foxborough in twenty twelve. Now here's an
opportunity we go thirteen years later going to the rulers

(02:49):
of the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs not having a
good season six and six, but they still have a
lot of talent. In fact, their sideline reporter was telling
me he thinks it's a more talented team than last
year's Sure, talent wise, they're just not playing like it,
committing too many penalties.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
We can get into all their issues.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
The point is this until somebody drives the stake through
their heart. They are still the AFC champs and they're
gonna play like it down the stretch until somebody takes
them out. Now, if you knock them to sub five
hundred with four weeks to go, I think they are
out based on the tie breakers alone, because they'll lose
the one with you, They've lost the one with the Bills.

(03:27):
They don't have the Steelers. This is going to be
nasty for them down the stretch, even with a win,
out to go ten and seven and try to get
in as the wild card. But I will never count
them out until it's completely mathematically over for them. However,
this is about the Texans. This is about having your shot,
a shot at the Chiefs and completely change the narrative

(03:50):
on your franchise going into the final four weeks of
the season. Still gonna play those Those are all big games,
but this is the truly big one as we look
at the final five.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
You know, the other day you got mad at me
about Rosen copter A, you're gonna get mad at me
about I'm he kind of kind of because I do.
I do think there are similarities to it. I don't
think I say question about that. You know, playing December
football on the road on night stage. There was so
much made about that game coming off to Thanksgiving win, like,
oh man, the Texans' best record ever.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Now they get to go take on the Patriots. Oh
can they take them down? They could take him down.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
And it just didn't go that way. It was a
team at that point. We've talked about this many times,
that twenty twelve team. There were cracks there, they just
weren't evident. And I think probably the biggest one was
Matt being healthy, Matt shop being completely healthy. And I
just remember that interception in the end zone in twenty

(04:46):
twelve and I think it was mccordy and it was
like he didn't see mccordy.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
I was like, ooh, I just remember that, Like they
didn't like the looks of this.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Yeah, And it just left the stain that I don't
know the twenty twelve team ever remat from now. I
think you've got a quarterback that is, if he hasn't
shaken off all the rust, he's very very close to
doing that. I feel like it's offense ascending. I feel

(05:14):
like it's offense getting better, and that twenty twelve, defense
was already without Cushing, right, I felt like it was
kind of hanging on Yeah and James. I felt like
it was it was JJ, and they weren't rude.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
They were trying to fill the gaps at linebacker any
which way they could.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
That's right now.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Demico Dimiko was gone in Philadelphia at that point.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
I mean, there's Creaman j Joe still, but they were
trying to patch it together at safety two and it
just it was I think.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Glover was already gone at that point. Was Glover and
Deroy still there was still there because.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Last year was gone for Ed Reid, right, I felt
like and JJ was playing unbelievably that year, but against
the Patriots, they just made it a focus to take
him out and nobody else stepped up. Well, okay, if
you're gonna take out Willy Anderson Junior, then fifty five
gets you, or the interior guys get you.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
And I just love the.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Fact and Seth and searm were kind of talking about
this too, And I love that Seth says this, he
knows that right along with him, I was I was preaching, like, hey,
the defensive tackle spot is.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Better than people think. At the beginning of.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
The year, all the way back to OTA's I felt
like it was better than people thought.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
As long as Rankins is healthy, it's been deep. It's
deep because you don't have fully, haven't had fully for
fully for a while. Having Rankins and the rest of
the guys really does make up for that.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
Yeah, and this is a big week for them because
Josh Simmons is gonna be out left tackle. He's gonna
be out. He had already been out five weeks. He's
gonna be out. So Jayalen Moore steps back in. Don't
know the status of Trey Smith. He missed the game
against the Cowboys. Yeah, you take those two out. Oh,
that's that's already starting. What about and then you got

(06:58):
Juwan Taylor who's banged up at right the human false start.
So from that standpoint, this defensive line, you gotta take
advantage of that.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
So how do you take advantage?

Speaker 3 (07:08):
You know, making Mahomes throw from the well all the time,
not giving him lanes when he puts his head down
to look for the lane, take it away and tackle him.
And that's gonna be tough. But it's really to me
on the defensive line. Go back to twenty twelve. You
Brady was gonna beat you that way. Brady was gonna
beat with his mind, and he was gonna beat you
with death of a thousand paper cuts.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Just and then when he took his shots, he was
not going to miss right, And that gives me a
very Steph Curry vibe with Mahomes. He might be able
to heat check his way through sixty minutes. And he might,
and if he does, you just like to pick your
cap and like, Okay, you got us. But I just
feel like this team is where it needs to be,

(07:52):
coming off some some tough wins, some good wins. But
you know, physically you'll find out tomorrow on the jury report.
You know, I always worry about that. You know, some
things that when they get into the locker room. You
know what's Woody status. You know, wood he was banged
up in that game. Now, he said after the game,
I ain't never going out quote unquote, but is he
gonna is he gonna be a you know, how close

(08:15):
to one hundred percent can he be?

Speaker 2 (08:16):
Well?

Speaker 3 (08:17):
And that's that ends up being kind of tough. So yes,
I when you brought up the twenty twelve game, I'm like,
I don't know. I don't want to think that way,
but I feel like this team is better positioned win
or lose, to go up there and compete, play a
game and compete against that team and hopefully knock them out. Now,

(08:38):
if they lose this game the Chiefs, that would give
them six and seven here their final.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
Four home Chargers.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
At Titans, home Broncos on Christmas at Raiders.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
That's not too bad.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
No, it's not too considering all things considered, right, and
that's where this becomes a win you've got to have
because you already have tie breaker over Ravens. You have
tie breaker on Bills right now, you have tie breaker
over Colts. Yes, and I don't know what the tie
breaker would be over the Jags. Think if we're tired
of the Jags division revision, you've got that's where your

(09:17):
your golden right.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
There have two losses already, they got one. Hang on,
Jags lost to us. They didn't lose to the Titans
though they lose, so they don't have two losses. They
haven't they haven't played all their division games. We've just
played five, have one left, and they have a compliment
of two with the Colt I think they have the
Titans one more time to the.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
One of the Titans. That's three of their finals.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
So it could come down because the division record goes first, right,
I mean head to head goes first, but then the
division record in the case of the split, which they have.
It's interesting what you brought up about the Chiefs and
their remaining schedule. Uh, they are looking at this coming
off the mini by as get this, start the run,
let's get in and the nightmare. Right, that's the prescription.

(09:57):
This is sprint to the finish. Yeah the Macro. Now,
I did bring up the twenty twelve game. It's not
an exact comparison, but it is the AFC champs. It
is the team that you just got to beat. If
you're going to be the best, you gotta beat the best.
And they're still the best until they're not, right, because
they could finish with a win out and all of
a sudden, you know they're back in the AFC Championship

(10:18):
game again, and oh my gosh, the Chiefs nightmare continues
for the rest of the league. I'll say this, everybody
in the world outside of Chiefs Kingdom is a Texans fan.

Speaker 6 (10:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Absolutely, we will have the full Texans of the entire league.
And while it was awkward for many, especially in this city,
to root for the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, it will
not be awkward to root for the Houston Texans.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
No.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
I mean, I think even the AFC South teams will
be like, come, I just do it and then we'll
deal with you later.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Chiefs, I agree, I agree with you. We are uh
we are America's team on Sunday night.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
We are America's team on Sunday Night. So it's I mean,
look the you know, four weeks from now or five
weeks from now, whatever it might be. I hope we
don't look back and go, man, we had this game
against this team, this game against this team. You know,
we didn't take advantage of this. I think there's a
good opportunity of what you have left when you look
at the schedules of what's left for each of these teams.

(11:19):
Texan scheduled, Yeah, it's Chiefs and Chargers, but then it's Cardinals, Raiders.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
And if you.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
Get through this one, see you win this one, you
go to eight and five. You got three in the
last four at home.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
That's beautiful.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Three to the last four at home in Arizona and
the Raiders, and they're not exactly in playoff contention. No
Cardinals are out. Actually I'm just wait, say both out?
I would think so if they're not out their route. Yeah,
all right, So it doesn't mean they can't give you
a game. No, you know, play and loose. You had
a turnover. Oh my gosh, they've got something going. You
didn't step on their throat, right, I mean, you better

(11:52):
be ready for anything. Titans of last year anybody, and
you have the Cults in the regular season finale. Look,
it's all about this one. And the other comparison that
doesn't match up with twenty twelve is this. You did
play them competitively last year twice December and January.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
You know what it's like.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
The Texans had not been to New England in six
years when they went in twenty twelve. They were there
in six and they got blown out David Carr quarterback
Gary Kubiak's first year, total blowout, total blowout by the Patriots.
So there you are playing them now. You played them
in nine here in that regular season finale, the game
where Welker got hurt and all that. But it was

(12:32):
three years prior and the team changed. So now you've
got them brock at that point. Yeah, now you go
up there. And that was the coming out party for
Julian Edelman. So in twenty twelve, they put everything on
full display in primetime and they had the hurry up
stuff and you were just caught off guard and that
was it.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
This is different. You know the Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
You've played with the Chiefs, You've competed with the Chiefs,
so you know what to expect. You know, cold weather,
you had it twice last year, worse than the playoffs.
But that was a night game basically, as it turned out,
so go get it. Was it a night well, I
think it was an afternoon game, but it got dark
at the end or.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
What the playoff game? Yeah, yeah, playoff game started like
three or four and the after yeah, yeah, it gets
dark at got So it was night in the second half,
like it was dark when Joe Mixon ran in and
made it thirteen twelve.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
I think the prevailing thought.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
You and I talked about this Monday when we got
back on radio, when after we lost that game the
Chiefs in the playoffs, and it was either on the
air during the break we were talking about at some
point and I said, what's the most maddening aspect of
the loss to the Chiefs in that playoff game? And
I remember you saying exactly what I've been thinking, and

(13:42):
that was I thought we had him.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
At thirteen twelve when.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
Joe scored, I looked up at the scoreboard and they
flashed the stats up on the board and we had
at that point like one hundred and I can't remember
what the number. It was, like one hundred and twenty
five rushing yards to the ten or something like that.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
That's the prescription.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
And I just remember going, holy crap. I mean, I
knew we were running it and that was a long
drive that got us to within one, and I remember thinking.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Got Lee.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
We really Wow, we're sticking it down their throat. Now
fast forward to what we have Now, what can we do?
And I think the other thing too, is we played,
you know, obviously, in the regular season game, we lost Tank,
so we played about a quarter plus, which basically just

(14:32):
Nico on the field. I mean, X, you know, got
some out there, whatever was left of Robert Woods right
playoff game, we don't have Tank at all, and X
stepped up and did some good things.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Nico is Nico. But now all all things knock on wood.
Everybody healthy.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
You got your guys, your tight ends, you know, you
got k back, you got your guys, you got your weapons.
So it's not like you're going in there with the
with the sore and you're just swinging one sword. You're
going in there with a few different types of weapons
that you can defeat these guys, and if your defense
gets after it, then I think there's a you know,
solid opportunity to go in there and get a win

(15:12):
that you know we would have, we would love to have.
Think about it before the Buffalo game, you and I
talking it off the air, and we're like, man, if
we can just get two of these three Bill's colts chiefs,
just get two of these three.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Two already.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
I'm not saying you're playing with house money because this
one's important, but in a sense, you wanted to get
two out of three so you could at least be
over five hundred when you start the run of Cardinals, Raiders, Chargers.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
I agree with you. We were there then. Now we're
in a different place. Now are different mentality, You have
higher goals. Now, go ahead, take care of business. And
guess what. Now, the narrative next week if you win
this game will be, oh my gosh, the Chiefs are
they dead? Blah blah blah. Fine, let be the narrative.
I don't that's fine. You don't need all the credit.
You're gonna get some. By about tuesday, people will realize, oh,

(15:58):
wait a minute, the Texans beat him and look at
them now. They are on a freaking roll with five
wins in a row. But that's the goal. It's one
game at a time. And you brought up Caid. He's
back after getting hurt Week one, played last week, played
this past game against the Indianapolis Colts, and we had
a chance to visit with the second year tight end
in studio with us. Now is Texan's tight end and

(16:20):
occasional quarterback, Cade Stover.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
How's it go? Okad right?

Speaker 5 (16:23):
How are you doing today?

Speaker 2 (16:23):
All right? We are so back. It's great to have
you back in studio.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
We love our visits and tell us how it feels
to be back making a contribution the way you are.

Speaker 6 (16:31):
It's great being out when you get it taken away
from you like that, especially after a long offseason. If
you like you're in a good spot, and then the
first game he gets taken away for two months. It's
bad and some grown pains coming back after not playing
for two months jumping right back into it. But we're
starting to get our feet underneath us and we're rolling
a little bit now.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
Kid has a field kind of shaking the rust off
a little bit. Because it was week one. I think
it was right near the too many warning against the
Rams were it happened. And I don't know hump at
the timeframe is whether you know it or not. But
how how is it band kind of shaking the rust off?
Because it's not like you could just jump right in
aea let's just go. I mean you play tight end.
I mean you're going against some of the best in
the world at that position. How's it band kind of
shaking the rust off?

Speaker 5 (17:09):
Lot? No, it's hard.

Speaker 6 (17:10):
It's been Realistically, I didn't think it was going to
be hard. I mean I had trainers telling me, hey, like,
you're going to go play two games and have one
padded practice before those two games. Yeah, and you hadn't played,
Like I don't really care like that, So I'm fine,
you know what I mean. Realistically, You're probably right.

Speaker 4 (17:24):
It was tough.

Speaker 6 (17:25):
Right, But I was never going to tell them it's hard.
It was good, but I mean it's just like anything else,
you just got to keep I mean, you keep cracking
and then once. I mean, these guys are in mid
season playoff form right now, and I'm just kind of
getting my feet underneath me.

Speaker 5 (17:36):
So it was tough.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Yeah, And it's not just like you do one thing.
You do a lot of different things. We'll get to
the Toush push in a moment here, but as your
position is played, you catch passes, your block, you're a
full back, you do a lot of different things.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Right.

Speaker 6 (17:50):
No, it's a lot. It's a very it's a demanding spot,
there's no doubt about it. But it's also fun, you
know what I mean. Like there's constantly you always have
something different, you can learn and do something different. There's
so many different ways you can tribute to help this team.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
There's gonna be a lot of talking.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
I know Mark wants talk about the Toush push, but
I want to ask you about what I think is
one of the more underrated plays of the game. And
I want to ask you about your connection with CJ
because it felt like that is really what kind of
made that completion happen when he boots to the right
and you're coming across and I can't remember where you
lined up, but you're coming across. You got Franklin by
about a step. I'm sure you and CJ have probably

(18:23):
worked that a play like that at some point. I
think you had a touchdown against Wisconsin on something like
that way back in the day.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
But take us through that play, if you don't mind.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
How did that come to be and how was it
having that connection with CJ knowing, Hey, he's going to
put a ball in this spot, I just got to
go make a good catch.

Speaker 6 (18:38):
Yeah, uh yeah, we've ran the play. I don't know
that's a lot of times us running that player or
a similar form of it. But it's just a little
play action boot pass that we're having and we know,
I mean, he knows where I want to show up
at and I know exactly where a ball is going
to be, So we don't have any doubt about that.
It makes everything else pretty easy.

Speaker 5 (18:54):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
Is it interesting with you coming back last week, him
coming back this week against the Colts? What is it
like to be with him? I mean, we talk about
you and him in college from time to time, but
just having both of you return at roughly the same time.

Speaker 4 (19:09):
It's just good.

Speaker 6 (19:09):
I really do I think that. I mean, I hate
to put the cart in front on the horse here,
but I really think that everything happened for a reason.
And starting N three and starting rough like this, I
mean like there's nothing more dangerous than a battle tested,
like scarretup team in my opinion, and for us coming
back at the same time here roughly the same time
and getting our feet back underneath us, and then hopefully

(19:31):
by end of the season here we're in mid season form
to make hell of a run at this thing.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
So kay, you're gonna have to excuse us for a
little bit because Mark and I have some PTSD from quarterback.

Speaker 4 (19:42):
Sneaks and things of the like over the years. Okay
we've had.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
Some ancient history.

Speaker 4 (19:47):
Yeah, yeah, there have been some things that have quarterback sneaks.
But when you go under center and I'm in Marxi
the whole time of.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Like STOs at QB, Stars at QB, and it was like, WHOA,
what just happened?

Speaker 4 (20:00):
How did all that kind of come to be of you?

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Was it something that it came to you with and said, hey,
you know we think this would work with you. We've
talked about this before. You played every position in high school,
including quarterback. How comfortable were you under center? Kind of
take us through it, and did you get to call
it play in the hudd or CJ.

Speaker 6 (20:19):
No, he calls it play in huddle. I just listened. Yeah,
I mean, I'm comfortable with it. It's been a while
obviously since I've been under center and took snaps with
a NFL sized ball. It's all different, but but I
mean we've worked on it. We've repped it here for
quite a while now, and just we finally pulled it
out of the bag and pulled all the bag a
couple of times.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
To be honest with you, were you nervous about it?

Speaker 4 (20:41):
I know you don't get nervous about much. Were you nervous?
I mean, like Warren had just botched one?

Speaker 6 (20:45):
Was the one that was When he did that, I'm like, oh,
this is not foreshadowing something terrible to happen. No, I
just in my head, I'm like, you know what, just
make sure you get the ball, and once you get
the ball, you don't get it, so you'll be fine.
Just get the snap and then you're fine.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
And it's just complete at that point, right, just driving
the legs.

Speaker 6 (21:02):
Yeah, basically is a long as they don't take your
legs out before or you're cittinger takes your legs out
before you can get your feet underneath you, you're gonna
be fine. But if they do get a little bit
of a surge. But I got a couple guys behind
me pushing me, it works.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
There's also the protect the ball thing, right, I mean,
you have to have maximum ball security right there.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (21:20):
I don't know, you're not worried about that. You just
you're hold on that thing no matter what.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
So can you dive over the top? Can you do
one of the thought about it? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (21:28):
And then you think of like everybody else that fumbles
the ball going over.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
To it's not like the end zone, right, the end zone,
you just touch it and the plays over. You're done.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
But in the middle of the field, if you do
that and they knock it away from new help.

Speaker 6 (21:39):
Oh yeah, you extend the ball and they punch it out,
then you're really and you're really never gonna see it again.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
Okay, So I'm going to ask this one and just
bear with me. Remember we're on radio. What's the strangest
because the one thing I kept thinking about is there
are about twenty two hundred plus pound people all on
a big pile. And I've been down at the bottom
of a few piles. I've seen some weird things. I've
heard some weird things. What's the weirdest thing that's ever

(22:08):
happened at the bottom of the pile to you or
somebody there in a pile?

Speaker 6 (22:12):
In college or anytime anytime there was a I was
dating and growing college. Her brother was a tight end
okay for the opposite team. Oh okay, okay, and my
roommates with Steel Chambers, Tommy's linebackers.

Speaker 7 (22:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (22:26):
I don't know if I can say it's on the radio,
I'll keep it PG.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
We can record it, we can take it out of
get at.

Speaker 5 (22:31):
It, and.

Speaker 6 (22:34):
We all like we're sitting down at the dinner table
like the night after that, you know what I mean,
and I didn't really realize what was going on or nothing.
Like Steele sits on a table he goes, hey, I
just kind of man, I got to tell you guys something. Okay,
this is waging on my mind right now. He goes Kennedy,
he goes, your brother flat out tried to grab my Johnson. Man,
he goes just ain't right.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Oh my gosh, at the table. Hilarious, it is great
and a mistake news, right.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
Real news.

Speaker 6 (23:01):
It was really I don't know. Nobody knows this day.

Speaker 4 (23:04):
Oh man, I we don't have that.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
I have one very very similar to that in high
school or in college and almost the same exact thing,
except it was punches.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
Oh yeah, and it was multiple times.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
It's running back from Princeton and carried it like twenty
five times. And every time that he carried it, my
buddy who was the other safety, going Mike Tyson.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
Every time they had him down the house, and finally
he broke.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
Finally he broke.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
At the very end, he started screaming from the bottom
of the pile. They had the game one and my
buddies still do We're not like twenty seven to six
and my buddy's still doing it at the bottom clash.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
All right, Well, let's get things back on track here.
Good luck Texans taking out the Kansas City Chief. Sunday night.
It's gotta be cold, but not for you, right, this
is nothing for you. Thirty degrees that's nothing. That's like
a nice winter morning up North farming and enjoying.

Speaker 6 (23:55):
Yourself seems like a kind of morning. You wake up
and you go and you walk outside and see the
cows bread and you're like, hey man, this is this
is where you're supposed to be right here, right Yeah,
nice brisk morning for us.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
Yeah, what about the guys who aren't as used to that,
especially practicing here because we practice I mean deep in November.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
It's still hot out yeah.

Speaker 6 (24:12):
No, yeah, it's beautiful still right now. It's I don't know.
I just just keep moving, you know what I mean.
The best thing to do is you get cold when
you sit around. Yep, So keep moving. Defense is out there.
Keep moving on the sideline, to get on the bike,
pedal around, drag up and down, whatever you got to do.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
How much does it help the team that you played
there twice late last year December and January, and you've
been in that building with that noise, that environment against
that team.

Speaker 6 (24:37):
Yeah no, I think it helps us tremendously. It's hard
to say exactly where it helps us right now without knowing,
but I mean, come next Monday, we'll know exactly where
it did help us.

Speaker 5 (24:47):
Hopefully, Like I said.

Speaker 6 (24:49):
Though, we got I mean we're we got some scars
on us and that's what that's dangerous.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
Yeah, house, the farm and how are people back home
feeling about what they did Saturday to that team up north.

Speaker 6 (25:02):
Farm is great and everybody back home is very happy,
absolutely static, very happy, very good day for the state
of Ohio. Obviously, when you bleed, when all of your
roots run in Ohio, it's a very important thing, quite honestly,
the most important thing in all of Ohioan's life when

(25:22):
you win that. And we were in a drought obviously
for a little bit there, so hopefully we can keep
the tables turning here.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
But super happy for those guys.

Speaker 6 (25:29):
We were on the bus and see you head coach
Day and Nick and everybody on FaceTime. We were sitting
there talking to him after the game.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
So oh wow, that's awesome.

Speaker 5 (25:37):
That was great.

Speaker 6 (25:38):
Those are just like I said, I mean, those are
some really good people there in lifelong memories and friendships
and love that we'll share there for sure.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
That's fantastic. A bus story, but a more elaborate farm update. Please,
what's going on right now?

Speaker 6 (25:51):
What's going on right now? We got them so I
got a bought what I buy by about forty nine
feeder caps actually from Houston. Wow, I bought it from Houston.
Down here bottom about five hundred pounds. They're pushing probably
seven weights, seven hundred pounds right now. Wow, they're doing
great cold weather. Kind of love the cold weather. Eat good,

(26:12):
stay healthy. So that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
Get the extra layers for warm right.

Speaker 6 (26:15):
Looking to buy another probably forty some here in the
next couple of weeks, just to keep I got a
lot of barn space, and I just do it as
much as that will let me do. Right now.

Speaker 5 (26:25):
Yeah, that's my that's my farm hand.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
So what's your what's your goal? How many? I mean,
because that'll make close to eighty. What's your what's your goal?

Speaker 6 (26:32):
When I'm home done, when I'm done playing and I'm
home full time, I would love to like feed out
and finish two hundred a year would be my goal
with probably anytime, the number anytime being on the farm,
probably three hundred and fifty cows, three hundred fifty head.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
Okay, awesome, all right? Any vegan options just kidding, all right's.

Speaker 6 (26:52):
Right, that's right, that's right. No vegan options, just stiver
farms meet, that's right.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
Kate, Thanks a lot for joining us.

Speaker 6 (26:57):
Good look, yeah, appreciate you guys.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
All right, there's Kate still overt.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
Now, next up, we're going to get into some things
related to Sunday Night Football on the NBC. The announcers
for the National Football League, the number one teams. We
will power rank them, and also Johnny's gonna tell me
who's going to win between the Jags and the Colts.
After that, the CJ interview on McAfee. Highlights of that.
It's coming up here on Texans Radio. Continuing here on

(27:22):
Texans All Access. Mark VanderMeer, John Harris with you. All right,
before we get to ranking the announcers for NFL national games,
because this is the big one on Sunday. This is
Sunday Night Football on NBC, the number one show on television.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
So we'll get to that.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
But quick note here relatively, the Jags and the Colts
get together this Sunday.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
That's right, Johnny, Who's going to win this football?

Speaker 4 (27:45):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (27:46):
And we talked yesterday about who we want to win it. Yeah,
in the short term, but who will win it? Who
will actually prevail in this game? Are the Colts really done?
Because if the Colts lose this one, I think they
are done based on what they have to come on
the schedule. They're at Seattle, they have San Francisco at home.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
Is that a Monday night game? Yeah, it's a Monday
they game. Ooh ooh, Monday night came.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
And obviously the Texans to finish it off. Who's gonna win?

Speaker 3 (28:16):
When's the last time the Colts went down to Duval
County and played worth of darn It's.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
Well Andrew Luck won in twenty fourteen, right, Yeah, it's
been one and along the way they've had some bizarre
losses down there.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Yes, they remember that Carson wentz here.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
Bizarre. That's what cost Hard Knocks. Yeah, the hard in
season Hard Knocks. Boy, that's a cursed show. No wonder
why they don't do it that way anymore.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
No.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
Dolphins called in the news coming out. Which is a division?
I know it's a division. It's the whole division?

Speaker 8 (28:50):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (28:50):
The NFC East takes NFC East?

Speaker 3 (28:52):
Benjamin Solak, who writes for ESPN, he did. I don't
know what his article is titled. His article is titled
Week thirteen, Panic meter Eagles, Colts, Ravens, Steelers, Lions. So see,
we has to say about the Colts Panic meter for
the Colts one week away from all out mayhem. His

(29:15):
first first paragraph is just a line. The Colts are
on the cliffs edge. A month ago, they had lost
just their second game to Pittsburgh. Offense moved the ball,
will turned over five times, and the special teams gave
it over once six total times. Since then, they lost
that game. They went to Berlin, they won overtime. Bye

(29:38):
week Chiefs lost home, Texans lost. Now they go to
the place they have they rarely win, and Sas Gardner
looks like he's gonna be out a month, and the
Jaguars are playing some of the better football they've played,
and Daniel Jones can't move, and Jones can't move. To me,

(30:00):
there is no way the Colts win this game. And
yet maybe the Colts win this game, I mean because
the Jags could screw it up.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
That's what they've got to hope for.

Speaker 3 (30:10):
I don't know that the Jags will win this game,
but I do think there's a possibility that Jags could
mess the game up, yeah, and hand it on a
platter to the Colts, which, if I'm right, that's what
we want to have happened, right.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
Trevor Lawrence could fall down and not get up and
not score a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
If he did against the Chiefs, he could throw picks
to Jermaine Pratt. Yeah, I mean, who knows.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
But typically against the Colts in Duval County, the Jaguars
have no matter what the record is, no matter what
the Colts are, no matter what the Jaguars are, they
go down to Duval County and it's like the Colts
lose their minds.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
Remember the six nothing game? Yeah, Andrew Buck that was eighteen,
wasn't it.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
When they were playing, they were playing incredibly against everybody.
They were starting to get rolling, they were scoring third
party plus, they were beating everybody. Then they got shut
out by a crappy Jaguars team.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
Yep, because a year after going to the AFC Championship game,
they were no okay, they were done, they were cooked.
And now you're facing the Jags team that's pretty good
and they're frothing at them out to get this one.
So we like the Jags in this one. If you
had to pick it, you'd probably say Jags, right.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
I think Jags to win it. I'm not sure what's
the spread on it.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Let's see the kids report when it comes out later.
This is not big.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
This is not your official prediction. This is an early
Tuesday indicator here.

Speaker 3 (31:32):
Yeah, but I just think based on I'm ninety nine
point nine sure Sauce isn't playing this game this He's
not playing.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
He's not this arm. I don't think so.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
Now, if the Jaguars start letting John Taylor run wild,
it's his leg. It's just like if they let John
Taylor run wild, it could change things. But I think
they're going to pressure Daniel Jones. I think Campinell, a
defense cording for Aguars, loves this situation.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
I don't think. I don't think Matt Burke is a
blitz aholic.

Speaker 3 (32:08):
I do think Campanelli is okay, and I do think
that he is going to blitz Daniel Jones until either
his leg falls off, Jones throws seven touchdowns or both.

Speaker 4 (32:17):
Well.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
Jones does throw some nice passes. I mean the one,
the downs on the sideline, the one to Piers. We
talked about some of the good throws yesterday. He does
have some good signs. He's showing that he's developed, He's
gotten better than he was in New York. He's tough
as hell.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
And he's tough as hell, never been questioned. But it's
even more so at the forefront that he is playing
through this because right now they don't have an option.
They don't have Jacoby Brissette to go to, they don't
have Jameis Winston that hey, we need a couple of weeks, Jamis,
go get a couple wins. They don't have Davis Mills

(32:54):
to go get them a couple of wins in a
row with Riley Leonard and that's it.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
Yeah, they could probably use a good backup quarterback right now,
but this might work out for them. Here's how Okay,
Daniel Jones, they limped on the finish, right, and he
gets healthy at some point in the offseason yep, and
they resign him yep. And now he's healthy, and now
they can run that back, you know, make some improvements.
They don't have picks, and they're paying him less money.

(33:19):
They're paying him less money than they would have to
if he finished strong. So now he's like, okay, I'll
resign here for limited money, and Ballard gives him a
three year deal, but they can get out of it
if it's horrible, and they run it back and they
have another good year.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
And with their first round pick. Oh wait, no, well
with their first round pick the next yeah, but they do.
Look they'll be able to fortify in some ways. Now,
I know every team can. They'll have to make some
decisions on guys. But that is a very talented team.
We played them without Buckner and without Sauce for ninety

(33:52):
nine percent of the game.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
Basically it was a nice miss Buckner. Yes, it was niceness.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
I will also say that we should have won that
game by ten to seventeen points.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Okay, but we've seen that movie before. I could have
would have should have been better than Ohen three, should
have won games by more.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Yeah, obviously I'll.

Speaker 1 (34:09):
Take the W no matter what exactly, No matter what
you're playing close games, you're winning them now as opposed
to losing them the way you were earlier. And let's
see what you could do in Kansas City on Sunday,
which will be on Sunda Night Football on NBC. So
Johnny Power Rank and when we rank somebody last in
this ranking, it doesn't mean you suck. You're a major
announcing team for a major network of the number one

(34:31):
sport in America in the world.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
The National Football League.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
So Sunday Night it's Mike Tarico and Chris Collinsworth. Monday
Night Football has Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. Correct, Thursday
Night Football has Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreet. CBS number
one team, Jim Nance, Tony Romo, Fox Number one team,
Kevin Burkhardt, Tom Brady.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
Rank them, Who's number one? Let me go? Last? Is
Nance Romo?

Speaker 3 (35:01):
Okay, the next step up Burkhart Brady. I actually like
Joe Davis and Greg Olsen. I put them a little
bit higher. But I know people think Joe gets a
little streamy at times.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
Well, i'll give you the number two is in a moment. Okay,
it doesn't sound good at all.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
But to the yeah, Brady and Burkhart, No, no, I take
it back. I'm sorry, Alan Kirk, then Burkhart, Brady, then Collinsworth,
Turrico because I love Tourrico, love to Rico.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
And then buckan Akman.

Speaker 1 (35:35):
Yeah, I have buckan Akman number one. They sound good. Yeah,
and they sound good together. Ye you know you don't
you know me?

Speaker 3 (35:44):
I I there are times I'd like to know some
of the x's know's of things that are happening. Sometimes
I don't. Sometimes I just want to know the vibes.
Sometimes I want to know what happened in the production meeting.
Sometimes I want Troy to tell a story. I feel
like you get a little bit of all that with
Troy and I. I like Joe Buck. I like him
doing baseball. I like him doing football. I just I

(36:07):
know people don't like him. I get it, but I
I do. I like Buck and Aikman, I love Turrico.
On the way home the other night, you know, I've
got a longer ride home, so I put my phone
down and I turn on the game because I can't
get a radio broadcast of it. So I put on
the game and so I.

Speaker 1 (36:23):
Can listen what just turned on six ten? It was oh,
oh yeah, but I just have gotten yeah. So I
listened to Tarico and Collinsworth. I Chris.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
I don't know, Chris is a tough listen to me. Okay,
you don't like him. I don't object that anyway. I
don't care.

Speaker 3 (36:42):
But I love I love I love Turrico, Mike, Mike.
I think is just he can do anything. Skins game
got it, Olympic swimming, got it, Basketball got it, NFL
got it, College, got it. I remember he called the
West Virginia Miami game many many many years ago, is
after you left, so this is four. It was down
a Miami. It was a hell of a Thursday night
game and Mike was calling it. I can't remember who's

(37:03):
calling it with. And he was a great broadcast. I
just remember the broadcast being so good. The game was great.
It was just I loved listening to Rico. I've always
have so if Chris, Chris is seemingly a pretty good
dude from what I've heard, I just they're just things
that he brings into the broadcast, and I'm like.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
I don't I don't need that. I don't need that.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
I don't mind him as much as you do at all.
I think he's pretty good. But I think Buck and
Aikman are number one. I'll go to Rico and Collin's
worth number two. Now I'm gonna change things up a bit.
Nath and Romo are next for me, even though I
know they're flawed. I'd rather listen to them than I
like Al. Still, I like his voice. It's holding up.

(37:48):
But Al and Herbstreet bother me because I don't think
Herbstreet should be doing the NFL, even though I don't
think he's doing a bad job.

Speaker 2 (37:55):
I want to be clear on this, Herbstreet prepares.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
I want a guy who's played in the NFL or
coached or done something with the NFL. I want some
guy on a national number one team who's been doing
something in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
I don't know. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
Uh, okay, recast Thursday night football, broadcast team.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
Go up well with who's available? No, just whatever take
i'd rather have. I mean, if I'm on the spot
with this one, which sounds like I am, and I
can't take somebody who's already on a number one team.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
No, take whatever team you want and make it Thursday
night football. I know who I'd take? Who if you
left the big the big crews were talking about where
you know, Nanson, Romo's, CBS, car et cetera. I put
Iron and JJ on Thursday Night Football.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
A lot of fantastic. I see where you're going with this.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
I think it would be fantastic. Yeah, I think it
would be a great Thursday I think Van Washburt in there.
I think Kayley does a really nice job. And by
the way, when she was here. I felt so bad
for Tommy was kicking, was punting, yeah, and she was
talking to somebody in midfield, and Tommy did not hit
one very well. It came down and she was writing notes.
It came down right on top of her boom, broke

(39:04):
a couple of nails off. Oh no, oh yeah yeah.
I saw her talking to Tommy. I was like, this
is kind of interesting, the silent reporter talking to the punter,
and I was like, whoa. So then when Sal and
I were talking to Kaylee, She's like, yeah, she's showing.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
Yeah, I broke off a couple of these nails.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
And then I saw that she showed the video and
I was like, oh my god, she got blasted. Anyways,
I think she does a great job. But I liked
that team of Iron JJ and Vid Washburn.

Speaker 2 (39:27):
That would be good or Joe Davis even and Greg also.
I like that too.

Speaker 1 (39:31):
Now I'm upset about Joe Davis because I'll go along
with Christopher Russo, the mad dog who went nuts, like what.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
Did they don't call in the World Series.

Speaker 1 (39:38):
Because he was so well, he's the Dodgers radio guys,
the Dodgers guy.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
It's like you call on a TV game of the
Texans in the Super.

Speaker 1 (39:45):
Bowl and being all happy about them winning, which I
would be, but people would question my objectivity exactly.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
And they did.

Speaker 1 (39:53):
And then what really got about, what really got a
upset was Davis m seeing the Dodgers parade. O yeah, yeah, yeah, yea,
because oh wait a minute, you gotta pick one here.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
Now I know I was thinking about you that whole time, Like,
how would Mark call a Texans Super Bowl objective? He
sins Cowboys Super Bowl and you're calling it for TV.

Speaker 2 (40:14):
Dax score. Darn it. This sucks. All right, Come on
Pat McAfee show, they had CJ. Stroud.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
We've got a chunk of that interview next here on
Texans Radio. It's our final segment of our one here
on Texans Radio tonight. But don't forget Texans matchup is
coming up with Johnny Harrison. That's an entertaining listen seven
o'clock tonight and it's gonna be awesome with all the
trimmings of the Texans victory over the Colts. In a
preview of Texans chiefs Now.

Speaker 4 (40:40):
C J.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
Stroud was a guest from this very studio, by the way,
on the Pat McAfee show, on Monday, and he was
asked a lot of things. We're not going to get
into everything here, here's some highlights as McAfee asked C. J.
Stroud about how it's going with the Texans. What are
they have going on here? With a four game winning streak,
where can it all go?

Speaker 6 (40:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (40:59):
Of course, you know, we didn't start off, you know,
the way we wanted to. You know, we lost you know,
five games you know in between one score. But I think,
you know, other than you know, looking down on ourselves
about it, you know, it was a positive you know,
to fix some issues and then we start winning these
close games against these really good teams. You know, we'll
be able to you know, take the next leap to
you know, get to where we want to go, that'st
the playoffs and then go from there. So you know,

(41:21):
I thought, you know, yesterday was was a really good
start for us, you know, at least for me coming back.
And I thought, you know, we answered the bell against
a really you know, really good team with the coach there,
you know, have a really good defense, and you know we.

Speaker 5 (41:33):
Been playing really well offensively.

Speaker 7 (41:34):
But like you said, our defense man is you know,
been you know, a rock and a you know, just
the best in the league from you know, I practice
against them, so I.

Speaker 5 (41:41):
Know how hard it is to go against them.

Speaker 8 (41:43):
Go ahead, yeah see j Obviously it's actually about the
Stroudhouse that we just saw this picture.

Speaker 5 (41:47):
What is it about?

Speaker 8 (41:48):
Like you seem to play very well inside the confines
of Lucas Oil?

Speaker 4 (41:52):
What is it about that good sight lines?

Speaker 8 (41:54):
Like a good bit like what is it seems like
you just obviously you play well all the time, but
whenever you come into the the Loudhouse, as Pat likes
to call what you seem to do, you know, take
it to another level.

Speaker 5 (42:04):
It's the name of the place. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (42:07):
I always just say, like the level of focus, you know, Uh,
maybe it goes up a little more just because it's
the divisional opponent. And you know, my boys, I hear
you know, he's always mad at me and he always
talking crazy, so that maybe turn me up just a
little bit. Uh, And so I know he's gonna hear
this and he's gonna hate it. But you know, uh,
after the game, we're always cool, but daring it.

Speaker 5 (42:27):
Me and him go at it pretty good.

Speaker 7 (42:29):
But it's just odd of competition, So you know, I
think it turns me up a little bit more, and
I think, you know, my old line here is it
and they want to play harder. So you know, it's
just a division.

Speaker 5 (42:39):
Rival, you know.

Speaker 7 (42:39):
And in those games, you know you're gonna be talking
back and forth and you know, having worse for one another.
And I think maybe that, you know, turns us up.
But yeah, I just try to, you know, just be
focused every play. You know, go want to know every play,
and you take it from there.

Speaker 9 (42:52):
That's I'm sleep. Maybe we gotta play you guys again.
We gotta play you guys again. It's gonna be it's
gonna mean a lot.

Speaker 2 (42:57):
And let's just let s C. J.

Speaker 5 (42:59):
Stralog just go. You got this moxie about you know,
you're duck footed and you go.

Speaker 9 (43:03):
He'll tell I was watching to walk because you're right
in front of our suite, whether it's a touchdown happening
on the other side.

Speaker 5 (43:08):
You got a full set.

Speaker 9 (43:09):
You're by yourself, You're over there just having your time.
That old lineman comes running over to you. Your walk
is just that filled with or I mean, you are
your franchise QB brother. It is uh, it is cool
to watch you kind of do your thing now let's
talk about the quarterback position and everything that you've gone
through this year.

Speaker 5 (43:25):
Go ahead, Bud.

Speaker 10 (43:26):
Yeah, on that note, being a franchise QB, obviously you
were banged up and you had to kind of watch
the game from a different perspective you used to being
out there. What's that relationship like with Davis Milly call
him Dougie Mills, But what's the relationship we like with
him off the field with you guys.

Speaker 5 (43:41):
That's my brother, bro.

Speaker 7 (43:42):
Like he's He's been a really great leader for me
come into the league. I thought, you know, coming in,
you know, fighting for the same position. You know, he
always showed me love still and I try to do
the same, and he's made me better. I feel like
I made him better. We have our QB dinners that
we do, you know, and we had a lot. His wife,
you know, is a really good friend of mine as well.

(44:02):
And his family, you know, I meet them, you know,
every time they come to the games and stuff.

Speaker 5 (44:07):
So that's my brother, man.

Speaker 7 (44:08):
I always support him always, you know, him on and
I just think it's funny that people ask these questions now,
just you know, because he's you know, had you know,
some really good games and you know, it's something that
like I root that on. I want I think he's
a start in the NFL, you know, and I think,
you know, he's proven that.

Speaker 9 (44:23):
It feels like you guys have a great culture down there.
On that note, Connor has a question for you.

Speaker 11 (44:27):
Yeah, CJ. Yesterday and throughout this four game win streak,
Jayden Higgins and wood Marks have really come alive.

Speaker 2 (44:33):
Two rookies.

Speaker 11 (44:34):
Nick Cassario once again in his bag, how what have
you seen from them as the season has gone on,
just developing as a wide receiver and running back and
their contributions to the offense during this win streak.

Speaker 7 (44:47):
Yeah, I always remember my rookie year and like being
thrown in the fire and kind of just thinking of
time on task. You know, it's like somethings you know,
are better when you just get thrown in the fire.
You have to figure it out. And I thought, you know,
they've they've figured it out pretty early. So you know,
Woody has been an anchor, you know, in a running game,
and you know it's created a lot of you know, big,
big time running plays for us. And then on top

(45:10):
of that, you know Higg is out there, you know,
and he's he has a lot on his plate, blocking
and you know, running routes, and I thought he's done
a great job of that and you know, clean body language,
and you know, it hasn't been overnight. A lot of
conversations that I have with those guys, just you know,
being that I was just a rookie, you know, two
years ago. You know, it just shows that you know,
like I understand, you know, what they're going through. And
I think the main thing is like confidence, you know,

(45:32):
with that being a rookie, you know, so you can
keep your confidence. Man, this is the same game playing
since we were ten eleven years old.

Speaker 5 (45:38):
It's just you know, at a different scale.

Speaker 7 (45:40):
So the confidence that you bring each and every day,
you know, and the preparation you know, all you know
as up to you know, how you play on Sundays.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
There's some excerpts of c J.

Speaker 1 (45:49):
Stroud on the Pat McAfee program with Aris on ESPN
and it's also on YouTube and that whole interview is
up on YouTube on the McAfee page, so check it out.

Speaker 2 (45:57):
McAfee does a nice job.

Speaker 1 (45:58):
Former Colt and we've talked to him on Texans Media
before before he ever had a show actually at the
combine and stuff like that. So good dude, and definitely
paid his tribute to CJ.

Speaker 2 (46:09):
Stroud. That was cool. That's gonna do it for this hour.

Speaker 1 (46:11):
Don't forget tomorrow night, Nick Cassario six o'clock, among many
other things for the rest of the week here on
Texans Radio and Texans Matchup is next, Go Texans.
