Speaker 1 (00:00):
Happy Friday.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
Everybody, Welcome into Texans All Access from the Honday Texans
Radio Studio, John Harrison, Mark Vandermere taking you up to man.
We got three hours tonight, Yeah we do, so we
got plenty to get into you. Here from Chris Myers,
who called the game for Fox. Later you hear our
feel Good Friday segment with Tamikouh Big Trent. Trent Brown
(00:23):
joins us tonight for the first time, and I gotta
tell you we had We had more fun talking with
Trent just about football, about his path and horses. I
didn't see that coming. I did not see horses in
a ranch coming.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
The Afternoon Show had him on last week, Ron and
Clett had him on horses came up.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
Because of the Ocho Sinco video.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
But of course we were gonna ask him about that
for ourselves and give our thoughts on Trent Brown riding
a horse, because the first thought is that poor horse.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Yeah he's six, say three eighty Yeah in Kim, move
in Kim.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
I've watched trying to know a lot of people watch
Trent practice or they saw him at training camp, Like
he can't move camp. He can move his kickstep his
agily is a lot better than people think, and I
think a lot of it has to do with basketball.
His family, which you'll find out later on, he says,
has a long history with basketball and that's helped him.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
You could tell, yeah, I mean you can't tell by
looking at his body necessarily other than the hype part.
But you're right with the movement and spoiler alert here,
he's still trying to get better, you know here he is.
He's been in this league for a while, he's done
some things, he's won to ring Trent Brown Ring winner,
and still wanting to get better.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
So there's that.
Speaker 5 (01:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
So you know how sometimes you lose a sock. Yeah,
And for me, you know, I'm OCD. So I lose
a sock, I'm scouring the house. Most people lose a
sock and like, yeah, whatever, they lose it, So don't
you buy the same kind. So if you lose one,
you just match it up with another stressing But I
usually buy like unique socks. Like today I got my
Mayor Grinch miss socks. Oh yeah, these are green and
(02:02):
have little Mary Christmas. Now that's very nice.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Mary Grinch Miss and aches somewhere on the night.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
But that would drive me crazy. Because the socks are
going to be lost right exactly so quick. Twenty second
story Luke VanderMeer prior to his birth, because you know,
you buy the baby clothes for yeah, and you wash
them because you want to wash them before the baby
wears them. We lost a little sock before he was born.
The phenomena of losing a sock occurs before you are
(02:31):
even on this earth. It's that much of a human experience.
It is, and it shouldn't be. It shouldn't be. It
drives me crazy.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
I know you're going metaphor with this, though, So where
are you going?
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Trent Brown? Super Bowl ring lost sock? There's a similarity.
He lost a ring.
Speaker 6 (02:50):
No.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
When I asked him about his super Bowl ring, I said,
you know where it is? Why the answer for you
later on. Okay, but let's just say that super Bowl
ring in lost soac it's kind of similar. It sounds like. Okay,
we'll talk to Trent a little bit later. So that's
gonna be fun talking to Trent. Jonathan Alexander Ross will
join us tonight. So we've got a jam pack show.
(03:14):
But Mark usually each Friday, and especially the last few Fridays,
I've asked you, what's your vibe, what are your feel
what are your vibes about this one against the Arizona Cardinals.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
I am not concerned at all about the team looking ahead.
That's my vibe, all right. I'm concerned about me looking ahead. Yeah, yeah,
you will, but not the team. I think the team's
locked in, dialed in. I think that's been the message
this week. We got to get better. We're not good enough.
That's a good point. So Texans won these games, great, awesome,
(03:45):
fantastic wins. Yep, not good enough because to get to
where they really want to go. Let's let's rewind back
to a training camp, pre training camp, even last year
of pre training camp. What does this organization want to do?
Win championships, championship. Well, obviously the standard was not met
in the first three weeks of the season or a
three and five start. And yeah, you're winning games right now,
(04:07):
but you're not winning. It's almost like what I accuse
the media and fans of doing when they're not winning
by enough of a margin or something. The team's doing
it to themselves now. They're happy they're winning, but they're
not winning by enough. They're leaving plays on the field,
even defensively. Kamari Lassiter says, yeah, right, yeah, and numerous
(04:28):
other players.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
So I believe them, and I believe Johnny.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
They're trying to sharpen and get better, and they're gonna
take it out on the Arizona Cardinals.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
Get ready.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
It's almost like they're approaching this one as if they
lost last week and they're mad. That's the mentality, and
maybe they wouldn't describe it that way, but that's the
mentality they're bringing in to Sunday at noon.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
So let me ask you this question because I grieve you.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
I feel like that's that's exactly the vibe you get.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Look, Demiko, you and I speak pret flewent Tomko nowadays.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Yeah, you know, after years, you know, you being around
him as a player, Now I see him.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
As a coach, around the coach you got. It takes
a couple of.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Years right to kind of understand like sometimes you may
not say anything.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
We spoke o B after a while, Yeah, exactly, so
language learn spoke Kubiak.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
That's right, that's right. I feel like we speak pretty good, Demiko.
I feel like what I've seen heard from Dimiko is
exactly what you said.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Mm hmm. Like we are. Not that that.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Was a great win against the Chiefs, don't get me wrong,
but we have a high standard and we have not
reached that standard. And my gut tells me that even
if they did that, Demiko would move the standard one
not higher and one notch higher and keep having them
lust for something even more.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
I think too.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
I can't speak for him, and I doubt he would
ever say this, So this is just a theory.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
It's a Vander theory. Sure. Right before he was hired,
he was.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Coaching in an NFC championship game as the coordinator of
the forty nine ers, and I think that team felt
like they should have gone to the super Bowl, even
though they were on the road first game. And I
feel like they think they would have gone to the
super Bowl had Purdy not gotten hurt. And I think
he knows, he's tasted how close he was, and even
though he wasn't the head coach of that team, he
(06:20):
took a lot of pride in coaching that defense.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
And why wouldn't you.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
They were number one in the league in points and
yards also for the first time in San Francisco forty
nine Ers history, so you could arguably, I don't know
if you could call that the greatest forty nine ers
defense ever. They've had some tremendous defenses and they've won
a lot of rings, a lot of different great players
on that squad. The point is this, they had never
achieved that ranking in the NFL prior, and now he's
(06:45):
got number one in points in yards with the Houston
Texans on defense.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Great, But he's the head coach of this football team,
overseeing the whole thing, and he knows there's a higher standard.
He knows that they have to hit that higher standard
if they're gonna get there. But you can't get there
right now. You can only get there by beating the
Cardinals on Sunday. So let's go and play a lot
better against the Cardinals.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Absolutely, I mean, I think that's that's the read that
I get on him. So I got asked this. I
went to a lunch and much with some good friends
of mine. They like to have me down for lunch
and then they pepper me with questions and different guys
were coming in at different times, and because of that,
I got asked the same question essentially three different times,
(07:30):
and it.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Kind of came at the end of a kind of.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
A little dialogue about, you know, the Texans, they're better
than the Cardinals, they should win this game. And then
they said, if the Cardinals win, how do they do it?
How do the Cardinals win if they beat us on Sunday?
How do the Cardinals do it? What has to happen
for the Cardinals for us to walk out of there
(07:54):
eight and six instead of nine and five.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Let's put on the tape of the first half of
the Jacksonville game. That's how they do it. You fumble
a kickoff return, you allow a return for a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Ye Bam Knight. On the first Bam.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
Knight gets loose for a forty yard run. Somehow you
run them down. But then on the next play, Brissett
finds Trade McBride over the middle and somebody misses a
tackle and he runs into the end zone. They get
a touchdown in a low scoring game. Because you have
played a lot of relatively low scoring games. That's how
they win if they win. And I think that's what
you have to guard against. Self inflicted wounds, the things
(08:30):
that played you you know, mistackle here, broken special teams
play there, and lack of execution on offense.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
That's how they win.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
In fact, I think that's the only way they can win.
I don't think they can win a shootout. I don't
think they can win a low scoring game. I mean
low scoring games invariably either team could win. But I
just don't know that that our defense will give up
enough in a low scoring situation for them to win
the ballgame. But I think that is exactly the formula.
When I think about games that the Texans years, not
(09:05):
just this team, but years past, Like one of them
that comes to mind is.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
The Broncos game at twenty nineteen.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Yeah, and in that game, we just were very flat
coming out offensively, and Drew Lock got super super hot.
Now that twenty nineteen defense was leaking oil badly in
twenty nineteen.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
But you just got done with beating the Patriots year before.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
But what happened over the last couple of quarters.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Of that game when you were playing to Patriots, they
started putting up some numbers throwing the ball through the air.
So they started showing, Okay, well maybe this is the
way you do this against this team. And JJ was
out and teams felt like they had time to throw.
Secondary wasn't playing extreamly well, and we got Drew locked
in locked through dimes. I remember the touchdown you threw
(09:54):
a no fan and then the offense just kind of
was sleepwalking through the first half and that led to
Hygienk down the tunnel going in a halftime and they're up.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Thirty eight to three or whatever it is.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
That's one I think about a lot, and that's kind
of got a similar type formula that Jacksonville, and that
is you sleep walk through the first half. Offensively, you
give them opportunity after opportunity, and Jacoby Brissette, because he
can sling it, starts hitting Trey McBride. Michael Wilson's making
one handed grabs in a way you go.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Now.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
I will say that Broncos offense of twenty nineteen they
had some dudes that catch football. I don't know the
Cardinals have all that because Marvin Harrison Junior is not
gonna play. Michael Wilson's really good trade ming pride is
really good. I don't know if they can do all
of that. That said, this defense is two three times
better than what it was in twenty nineteen. But that's
to me is the formula that is you sleep walk
(10:47):
through the first half and you look up, it's twenty
one nothing and a half, and now you're trudging uphill
for the next thirty minutes.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
That's the formula.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Here's the X factor looking at it from that negative
scenario which you have to overcome. Jacoby set We talked
about this all week five and one as a starter
against the Texans, three different teams. Now, Sean Pendergass brought
this up, and.
Speaker 4 (11:07):
I got chills in a bad way. The Colts.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
One of those Brisset victories was with the Colts, one
of the five in twenty nineteen.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Oh yeah, up there, oh yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
And the team you beat the week before the game
was Kansas City, that's right at Arrowhead. Oh and then
you faced Jacoby Brissett, and Jacoby Brissett threw four touchdown
passes and through for three twenty six quarterback rating one
twenty six in an upset victory. I guess it was
an upset at the time over the Texans thirty to
(11:39):
twenty three, because, believe it or not, the Colts at
that juncture were four and two, four and two, so eh.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
And that was after Andrew Luck retired.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Everybody thought they were gonna get a piece of the
Colts and Jacobe went crazy and I remember that game.
One of the things I remember about that game is
ja went crazy. He had like seven pressures. I think
he had one sack. He went nuts. And I remember
that because I saw Ballard after that some point later
(12:12):
in that season.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
He's like, man freaking JJ Watt, we can't block that, dude.
I'm like, what'd you have to block him for.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Jacobe took care of it, Yeah, because he went nuts
that game. That was one of his best games as
a pro.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
Right.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
He was phenomenal in that game and that walking out
of the building that day, I felt like, I feel
like we're gonna be okay because let me, at that
time we had DeShawn.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
I was like, we'll be okay, We'll be fine. But
that gave me there were some warning signs.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
That Colts team started five and two with Jacoby right
after Andrew Luck retires on the preseason, and it looked
like they were going places. It was the Texans who
took them down on that Thursday night game at home,
and that started a four game losing streak for the Colts,
never to be heard from again.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
Yeah, until twenty twenty.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
When Philip Rivers started in Nay the world cycle back
the Big Willy My gosh, because back to Big Phil.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Good luck against Seattle. That game is going to be
going on after ours is over. Yeah, it's got it,
It's yeah, yeah, it's in Seattle. So I am I
watch Red Zone when I say watch whenever we have
a home game. When I drive home, I put Red
Zone on just so I can listen to it, which
(13:21):
gets kind of funky when you're driving and listening to
Red Zone and there's no transition.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
You're like, oh, what game is this? What game is that?
He said? Jones? Which game is Jones in? And so
I mean it's just can you be more specific? Y?
You know? Now if it's a zizou Shire, I know exactly.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Okay, it's Texans, but I think I might just put
it on Seahawks Colts.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Oh yeah, four to twenty five start, yeah, or just
listen to that. So three twenty five Central start on Sunday,
so the Texans will be done by then.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
So what does your gut tell you to ask you
for vibes for the Texans? What does your.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Gut tell you about that? Hey, I'll tell you what
about Colt Seahawks number one. Here's the only thing that
my gut's telling me right now, without a doubt, one
hundred percent, Philip Rivers is starting that game. He's starting
and playing that game. That's the only thing after that.
I don't know what to think.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
What did club or Lang say in his Rocky three
prediction pain? I predict pain. I predict bad things happening.
I don't think it's going to be pretty at all.
I think the Seahawks are coming after him. We've seen
them up close and personal. This is not a good
place to play this game. He needs to start out
in a preseason situation.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
Are you kidding? That is not preseason. This is not preseason.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
This is the Seahawks going for a division title in
their gym, and they've heard about it all week, and
they are coming and they'll help them up.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
But even to knock them down. I think they're going
to help them up.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
I think you'll see some come on, get up, Phil,
because we don't want you leaving this game.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Continue to do this to you. Yeah, I don't know.
I mean they might want to see Riley.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
The one thing, the one reason I would imagine they
don't want to see Riley the Hunters defense, Those defensive
linemen don't want to run after a scramblin quarterback. And
that's what they with a bad em though, And it's
just a nightmare. This is as tough as it gets
for the Colts. Now here's the flip side, and I'm
gonna ask it. And I know it's highly unlikely. The
Seahawks are thirteen and a half point favorites. What if
the Colts win this?
Speaker 1 (15:16):
What if River starts place? What if the Colts.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Winnes Armageddon, apocalypse, Dodgon Cats living together, Hell freezes over.
I don't see it happening. If it does, I'll be
very impressed. I will be very impressed. Well, you talked
about the scenario for the Cardinals. The scenario for the
Colts is this Jonathan Taylor. They can't contain them, right,
you know, they just can't bring him down. He's getting
five six yards Rivers ball out quick bam, hit Josh Downs,
(15:44):
hit Alec Pierce a couple of times.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Oh my gosh, all of a sudden in the red zone.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
Tyler Warren, Oh this, Gord.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
You know, I just don't see that defense able to
contain Seattle in that building right, and then you're gonna
be down and you're gonna have to start throwing the
ball and then they're after you ears pinned back. Nightmare
scenario for Rivers coming back.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
I don't see it.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
I don't see it. But what I do see and
do hope for a win against the Arizona Cardinals. Man,
that will definitely put the Texans in position to get
that wins. Head coach Demico Ryans Mark and Demico caught
up right here.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Coach, let's talk about preparation for this one as you
got ready for the Arizona Cardinals.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
What was the focus this week in practice?
Speaker 6 (16:26):
The focus this week is it's really been operationally on offense.
Let's make sure we're operating, getting our plays off, no
pre snap penalties, things we can control. Let's make sure
we're on that defensively, Let's make sure we're great on
third down. Cardinals has been done a great job this
year on third down, their top ten in the league.
So we have to do a great job of stopping them,
getting our offense the ball back as quickly as possible.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
You were committed to running the ball last week, and
I know you will be this week and every week
but what's it going to take to be a little
bit more productive in that department.
Speaker 6 (16:54):
Yeah, here, we have a lot of different looks with
their defense. They present some three safety looks. Their safeties
be back, different guys insert into the gap. So it's
gonna take really great communication by our offensive line each
and every snap that we're running the ball. We have
to be on the same page. Guys have to know
who we're targeting, and our backs got to do a
great job right. Our backs got to the press the
(17:16):
hole and make sure and we cut back when we
need to cut back. But I think all the guys
working collectively up front, I think there are some creases
in the run game that we can We're committed to
the run last week, We're gonna be committed again this week.
We can get even more yards.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
What did you make of your studies of Jacoby Brissett
as you got ready for this one.
Speaker 6 (17:34):
Yeah, the first thing, or the only one thing I
kept writing over and over again and my preparation was
this guy is great versus the blitz. Like seeing him
make decisions versus the blitz. He does a really nice job.
Really have a ton of respect for him. He stands
in the pocket, really tough player, smart guy. He's not
going to force the football right, He's gonna make sure
he goes to his progression is not there. He's checking
(17:55):
the ball down as quickly as possible. So I really
respect him. I see why he's starting because he's gonna
do a great job of doing what you're supposed to do,
trying to run the offense as efficiently as possible. But
it's gonna be a game about our defensive line, right.
Our defensive line really has to do a great job
versus their offensive line. They're moving some guys around, so
(18:15):
we really have to cause having up front.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Yeah, i's gotta say that there's seventh in the league
in passing, But you can't ignore the running game with
Bam Knight.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
And those guys.
Speaker 6 (18:22):
Yeah, never never ignore the run game. For these guys,
I think their backs run really hard when they do
get the football. They run hard. Their physical, tough players.
So it's always for us a swarm mentality. How well
can we tackle how many guys can we get to
the football?
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Coaching talking to your players, they all seem to have
the message delivered and they're spreading it to each other.
Do you see that in them that they're coaching each
other as the season evolves.
Speaker 6 (18:44):
Here, that's the beauty of seeing guys at this point
of the season. As a coach, you don't have to
say much, right, we're doing the same things we've been
doing now to see guys, hey critique each other. Hey
remember on this play? Hey, you have to do that.
Like that's the beauty of coaching, sitting back and watch
guys coach each other, and it means more when they
come from the players, and that's what we have, player
(19:05):
Land team, and they're doing an outstanding job of that.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
So finally back at NRG Stadium.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
You had two great games on the road, but the
last time you were here was battle Red Knight, great atmosphere.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
Looking for the same thing.
Speaker 6 (19:15):
Yeah, last time we were here Thursday night, it was loud,
it was rowdy. Can we get the same thing again?
All right? And we were looking forward to it. We're
excited to be back home. We need our fans as
rowdy as possible again, quite on offense, but loud on defense.
And let's make in our d a tough place to play.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
Outstanding coach, Thanks a lot of good luck, Thanks.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Mark, great stuff there from coaching Mark. Now it's time
for Greg Bailey to step in. Oh those wonderful pipes
standing next to your starting running back, Joe Quavius Woody.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Marks, Woody, you.
Speaker 7 (19:47):
And I have talked about this in the past. I
would love for your fans to hear it in this forum.
What makes this group inside this locker room special if
you take football out of the equation. I'm talking about
the relationships, the bonds that you have with your teammates.
Speaker 8 (20:00):
How we all get along together, no matter the position. Group,
we all joke around. Uh we kind of we kind
of we grown in but we kind of.
Speaker 6 (20:09):
Like a little babies around here.
Speaker 8 (20:11):
Uh test, Test, were playing the game that we love
and we all we all here, We all go for
each other no matter You just came in yesterday, Just
welcome to the.
Speaker 6 (20:21):
To the group.
Speaker 7 (20:22):
And how has that helped you adjust to the NFL
as a first year player?
Speaker 6 (20:25):
All helped me a lot.
Speaker 8 (20:27):
Tis not being shy around guys, got a real real
good grasp. Who I know who's gonna go out there.
These guys gonna let lay it on the line for
me every week. So that's just that's that what builds
the team.
Speaker 7 (20:39):
And how do you see that play out in the
situation like Kansas City where it's time to to get
that first down that that allows you guys to kick
the field goal that essentially clunches it. Everybody knows you're
gonna run it, but you run it and you get
the key first down.
Speaker 8 (20:52):
It's crunched tome right there the line. They got a
big chip on their back. They know we're gonna run it,
and they gotta do what they gotta do. We gotta
received in type type position, Gotta go out and block,
just lead on the line so we can win the game.
Speaker 6 (21:06):
Get out of cold.
Speaker 7 (21:07):
Last four you've averaged right at twenty carries a game.
How do you how kind of toll does that take
on your body? How do you take care of your
body so you're ready when your numbers called?
Speaker 8 (21:16):
Just doing a lot of cold tub doing whatever I
can in the training room or in the weight room
with lad doing the little stuff in the recovering room.
Just doing just doing everything I can, everything they tell
me to do.
Speaker 7 (21:30):
Coach Katie was just telling us there's an extra level
that we need to go to. What are some of
the things you guys can clean up to be even
more productive offensively?
Speaker 8 (21:37):
First down, first out, getting that positive yards, so we
can do whatever we want. On second down, we get
the third down, we can do whatever we want, not
being one dimensional, getting behind the downs, getting behind the sticks.
Speaker 7 (21:50):
How much fun of you had playing in the NFL?
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Man, Is it what your thought? Oh?
Speaker 6 (21:53):
Yeah, most definitely. I had fun.
Speaker 8 (21:55):
A little group I'm in with the Texas Mays of
offense and amazing defense. So I'm going out there winning games.
So it's been fun just going against other guys who
I've been looking at. Sometimes some of them will my
life and some of them just who I've been looking
at this last year.
Speaker 6 (22:12):
But it's been fun. Good luck against Cardinals.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Thank you, great stuff from Bailey and from Mars right there. Hey,
you can catch Greg Bailey and the Texans pregame show
on ABC thirteen. Check that out, then flip it over
radio style Sports Radio six to ten, Mark Andre and
myself at the broadcast, which you can hear again Sports
Radio six ten.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
All right, this one, we dove.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
Into it, deep deep deep right here our game preview,
Modello matchups, matches, firm sleepers of the game right here.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Game preview Texans and Cardinals. Back to NRG Stadium as
The Houston Texans are running a five game winning streak
into this one noon kickoff Kids Day presented by Texas
Children's at NRG and Johnny The Cardinals not a good team,
but they have some things they can do to make
life difficult for the Houston Texans. You can't look past
(23:06):
anybody in this league. Case in point, last year the
Tennessee Titans in November. Need we say more Carolina the
year before that on the road. You've got to keep
your guard up in this one. This team you mentioned,
it's got a lot of talent. The record hasn't been good.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
They've lost close games, very close now last week against
La Rams forty five to seventeen, it's started getting away
from them where you go. They're missing James Connor. They
have Paris Johnson junior left tackle who probably won't play
this game. Marvin Harrison Junior has been banged up, so
some of that talent has not been able to play.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
But they have played some close games.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
They probably should have beaten the Jacksonville Jaguars, who lead
the AFC South.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
I wish they did.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
They had the Jags on the ropes, yeah, and couldn't
pull it off. So they've been in some big games.
They won it on a Monday night at Dallas. They
just haven't been able to do it consistently. And the
two games that they really got blown out were the
Rams and then the other game was the four nine Ers.
Those are the two games where they got blown out.
(24:10):
Other than that, it's in a three point game, seven
point game. They've been in it. This is the type
of team where you've got to take their spirit early.
You got to make them want to get back on
the plane and go back home very early in this game,
and then get out of it, hopefully injury free, and
then move.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
On team of the bad record. The longer you let
them hang around, the worse it gets for you. They
start to believe and get a coveted victory. Maybe they
started off two and oh, they had a five game
losing streak, then they won a game against.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
The Cowboys and three and five.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
Okay, maybe no, not so much five game losing streak
for the Cardinals heading into this one, the Medello matchup,
I think.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
This is it.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
It's Jacoby Brissett versus the Texans. He's five and one
as a starter against the Texans with three different teams
This is amazing stuff when you think about it. The Patriots,
the Colts, and the Miami Dolphins. He won games against
the Texans with all three of those squads, including one
as a rookie Week three, twenty sixteen. Amazing at New England.
(25:05):
But now he's a salty veteran with the Cardinals and
he's throwing the ball.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
Okay, the numbers look pretty good.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
He can hurt you, yeah, and he can also tie
Sam Donald. Sam Donald has beaten the Texans with four
different teams for second do it. Hopefully it doesn't happen,
but we've had struggles with Jacobe since his rookie year
in twenty sixteen. I still see him sprinting past me
into the end zone in a Thursday night game that
the Texans got throttled up in Foxborough in twenty sixteen.
(25:33):
I still see him going by like nobody even knows
he's got the ball, and there he goes in. He's
beating us a lot of times, just Guyles Smart's great leader.
But I remember in twenty nineteen that's when he really
lit us up throwing the football, and that's what he's
doing a lot of with the Cardinals, is throwing the
football and because of that, Madela matchup I've got my
eyes on is Trey McBride, their Pro Bowl slash all
(25:56):
pro tight end against our interior cover people. I say
it that way because it can be any number of
guys that will have the responsibility. Against Kansas City, Travis
Kelsey was covered by Jalen Petree, Mario Lassiter, Miles Bryant
or any of the linebackers. Right, they all had a
piece and they all had a role. It'll be that
(26:16):
way against Trade McBride. It'll be any one of those
guys against him. But they've got to limit what McBride
could do as they did Kelsey last week.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Okay, Mattress Firm Sleeper of the game, I'm going first. Okay,
I was gonna steal yours from last week, Jaden Higgins,
but I'm gonna go with the other Cyclone in this one,
Jalen No. Now I know Xavier Hutchinson is a Cyclone two,
but the rookie Cyclones Jalen Noll making big plays in
this game, either you know, and or return game or
(26:45):
as a receiver. Let's see how it goes for Jalen Knowle.
Mattress Firm sleeper of the game for me, want some
big moments out of him.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
I would love to see Jalen get a little bit
more involved in the past game.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
I know they tried to get him on that speed
sweep on that short yardage play and Jalen Watson made
one hecker tackle. It's one of the better tackles I've
seen all year. I'd like to see him get involved
in that way. But he can also go down the field.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
You know.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
We saw that in the Niners game earlier this year
where he was used down the field, and I think
that's where Jalen can also become a factor. So definitely
would love to see that. Mine is because I mentioned
Trey McBride, my sleeper ends up being Henry Totoe. By
the way, if you haven't seen the micd up of Henry,
it is utiful.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
Finn task. Don't click to it just yet. Yeah not yet.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
Now watch this all the way through, stay with us
here and then go to it, and then go to it.
It's fantastic. But Henry's so smart, He's been so physical.
You know, the Cardinals don't have James Connor anymore, so
the running game isn't quite there, so This is going
to be really a challenge for the linebackers to make
plays in the passing game. And that was something Henry
told me all the way back to day one a
training camp.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
Is something that all offseason he worked on.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Had to be better in the pass game, had to
be better in coverage, something it really worked on.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
I think it's paid off throughout the year.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
But this is the ultimate test the next two weeks
because it's Trade McBride this week, it's brock bow.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
Follow following week.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
Wow, those are arguably the top two tight ends in
in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
They're both coming to Energy Stadium.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
You're already pushing Kelsey to the back burner here. Well,
you took care of business against Travis Kelsey and that
was a really great thing to see. Now the Texans
offense not a sleeper of the game, but you want
to see a step taken in this one. We had
Trent Brown in here this week and he talked about, Hey,
there's a lot of meat on the bone, there's a
lot we got to do here. We have to improve
and they know it. They know there's a higher ceiling
(28:30):
for them. They're trying to reach it. They've made incremental
improvements over the weeks, but you want to see at
home a really great performance out of this offense.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
I think when you get a five game winning streak going,
and they always say that, you know, winning mass the problems.
When you get a five game winning streak, you're like, yeah,
he's great, We're doing awesome. It's fantastic. But that hasn't
been the way with this team. Kamar and Laster was
asked after the game, Hey, you've won five in a row.
You shut down out, you shut down mahomes. You guys
have done it on and he's like, no, sir, we're
(28:58):
not stopping. We've got more work to do.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
We still have left a lot out there.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
And it was great when I heard Trent say that,
because I do think the offense. People have seen the
offense kind of struggle at times, and the third quarter
is a big struggle against Kan City Chiefs. They know
there's a lot left on the plate for them to
take care of to be the team that they really
want to be.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
So it's good to hear them.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
Yeah, five game winning streak, Okay, well, we're focused on
this one. We're focused on being better in all aspects
of this one. And you mentioned it, Mark, You don't
really need to go any further than last year, Week
twelve against the Tennessee Titans. That team comes in to
the building, I think with two wins, and Will Levis
goes crazy and you end up losing thirty two to
(29:41):
twenty seven to a team you had no business losing.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
Sacked them seven times in the game in the first half.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
Ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
So you can't let that happen.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
You got to bring Jacobe down, got to turn them
over a little bit, and the offense has got to
be highly efficient and productive.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
Texans and Arizona Sunday at NRG Stadium noon kick Go Texans.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
All right, those two guys know what they are talking about,
no question about that. Also, we had a chance to
catch up with Big Trent Brown. There's a lot there.
Where's his Super Bowl ring, riding horses and being a
leader in this old line room. Trent Brown next right
here at Texans All Access.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
Seven. Everybody, welcome back.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
To this Friday editione of Texans All Access from Honday,
Texans Radio Studio. I'm your host, John Harris Football analost
sideline reporter for your Houston Texans. We are less than
forty eight hours away from Texans the Cardinals. A man
playing a big role figuratively and literally for this offense
is right tackle Trent Brown. We had a blast talking
(30:45):
with Trent the first time we had a chance to
talk to Trent, and great to learn, you know, kind
of his life story, how he got to where he is,
how basketball is such a big part of it, how
the ranch is a big part of it. But one
of the big questions I have, especially for people that
have won Super Bowls, where you got the ring, you
bring it out, you wear it. It's some interesting stuff
(31:08):
here from Trent Brown with Mark and myself.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
Joining us at studio is proprietor of Brown Ranch. Trent Brown, how's.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
It going, Trent?
Speaker 5 (31:17):
Going well? Thanks for having me.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
Well, I do want to talk about the ranch, but
let's start with football, shall we.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
How's this going for you?
Speaker 3 (31:23):
Because you started out the year on the practice squad
and now you're playing right tackle holding it down.
Speaker 4 (31:28):
How's it going for your Trent?
Speaker 5 (31:29):
Oh, it's going pretty well. I think I can appreciate
how the Miko and Nick handle my situation. Not quite
ready to get in the fire yet they allowed me
to get my feet up under me A little bit
on practice squad for a couple of weeks and then
when I was ready to elevate me and it's been
going awll ever since.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
Trent.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
I got to ask this, kind of asked this about
all the linemen at this time of the year.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
How's the body feel?
Speaker 6 (31:49):
Man?
Speaker 5 (31:50):
I feel good. I'm eleven years in. I mean, I
know what this but you know what I mean? Yeah,
I mean to be honest, I feel great. Yeah, so
I'm getting trying to get better every week. I kind
of look at it if we had a conversation this morning,
is kind of look at it like I kind of
just had my four weeks account. Yeah, you know what
I mean, and now going into the season or whatever.
So hopefully I I'll peak at the right time.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
All right, you're a Super Bowl champion. You've played a
lot of left tackle and a lot of right tackle.
So what's the difference as you see it between the
two sides.
Speaker 5 (32:22):
It's no different. It's no different at all. I would
say left tackle, the angles of the rusher are different
just because of the where the quarterback holds the ball
in their right arm, so they can kind of just
be lining straight to it. As far as like the
right side, they kind of got to be in their
edge a little bit, or it's a little bit more
in the face of the quarterback, so they kind of
got more of a two way go in my opinion.
(32:44):
So I know a lot of people don't really think
of it like that, but that's it to me.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
Trent.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
When you started, your first start was against Jackson Jacksonville,
Davis stepping in because CJ's been out, So you played
a few games with Davis and then CJ comes back
in a lot of But I'll always wondering about this
with with quarterbacks, they got different cadences, just different rhythms
and how they do things fort offensive lineman, does that
take a little bit to kind of get used to, Like,
(33:10):
hey man, I I just got used to how Davis
does things, and now CJ's doing his thing. I'm sure
they're probably similar in some regards, but there are differences.
How do you kind of handle that as a tackle
because there are a lot of times that you're out
there you're kind of working blind in a sense.
Speaker 5 (33:23):
So for me, I was like, I say, like you said,
blind to it anyway, those are my first reps anyway,
so I kind of didn't know what to expect anyway.
Those I didn't get any reps with either one of
them before that time, and so just stepping in and
do my best to keep whoever's back to right.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
You know, you were a rookie once upon a time,
and we have a rookie playing left tackle in Tayur Sari.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
So how's he doing?
Speaker 5 (33:47):
In your opinion, He's doing great. He's doing great. I
tell people all the time, I see a lot of
myself and him, just two different roles. He's second rounder.
I was a seventh rounder, but I mean I was
starting right away when I got in the league as well,
and there's nothing much different I mean about it. Of course,
it's better athletes, stronger, smarter, but at the end of
(34:07):
the day, it's football. So I just try to instill
in him confidence and make sure he's confident in himself
going in weekend week out.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Trent, did you as you were coming up in the
league being a seventh rounder, because I don't think you
were projected to go in seventh round, but you did
go in seventh round. Did you kind of carry that
like a little bit of a chip on your shoulders?
You're kind of earlier in your career, Like, hey, I
got to prove to people that I deserve to be
thought of much higher than I was during the drive.
Speaker 5 (34:36):
A little bit, not too much. I always knew that
I just needed an opportunity, you know what I mean.
I went to junior college first, and then I went
to University of Florida after two years at JUKO, So
I kind of know what it's like to not be
highly sought after. I mean, I had offers coming out
of high school. I just I didn't want to go
to prep school route and keep testing. So I just
decided to go ahead and go to JUCO, which is
(34:57):
probably the best decision I ever made in my life.
The George Military colleg It was a great experience really.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
So you were born in bass Drop, so you're a
Texan Native Texan. You grew up in Allby, Georgia. You
played basketball in high school. Tell us about you as
a basketball player back in the day.
Speaker 5 (35:13):
I was pretty good. I could have went to college
and play basketball. I was. I'm pretty much the only
one in my family immediate family that plays football. My
brother and my dad played basketball, both professionally.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
So what made you go to football?
Speaker 5 (35:26):
I mean, I just felt like smarter is the numbers
are on your side. You can be a little bit
more physical and football is just more fun.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
Honestly, how long did it take to adapt your basketball
skills and you realizing, Hey, I got these basketball skills
that could work well for me playing football.
Speaker 5 (35:47):
I've been playing both my whole life, and I just
started playing office a line till high school. I played
pretty much everything else. I started out playing the first
tame time I played football, I played running back, quarterback.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
Wait anyway, Wait you played running back as your first position.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Could anybody tackle you?
Speaker 5 (36:04):
Yeah? I never played with my age group. My dad
wouldn't allow me.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
To really, so what so he always moot you up. Yeah,
I've been in that road.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
So if you campaigned to say, all right, put Blake
in at right tackle, I'll take the tush, push snap
at QB and we're good.
Speaker 5 (36:19):
Nah. I don't want to. I don't want to festival
unless we're going to get a tackle, isabell or something.
I don't want to. I just want to do my job.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
Yeah, that's interesting you would say that after a career
of starting at running back and moving along those lines. Trent,
when you signed here, I remember when you were signed here,
and I know a lot of people talked about, hey,
this is gonna help the offensive line. And then you
start talking to people in the building that knew you,
Nick Cassario, people that knew you had been around you.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
They're like, hey, Trent's got a lot of leadership capabilities.
You know, he does it.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
He does it in Trent's way, but he is a
great leader. He's gonna be a great mentor for these
young these young players. Now you've obviously stepped into that
right tackle role, but as a leader, how much do
you value that part of your overall kind of game
and just being here in Houston, being out all.
Speaker 5 (37:01):
For these guys. I valued it a lot. Honestly. I
always promised that I would be the vet that I
never had. So I wanted anybody in the room to
be able to come to me about whatever whenever. You
know what I mean, And so this is what it is.
I got an open line of communication, open door policy
for anybody that wants to come up and talk to me,
whether it's in my room or not. Anybody on the team.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
Trent, you've had the ultimate success in this league, and
you've been part of a lot of big runs this
team's on a bit of a role right now with
five consecutive wins.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
You know where we've been.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
What do you make of this team as it is
right now, with the defense, the way the offense is
coming together, the lines coming together.
Speaker 4 (37:36):
What do you think of the Texans state of the art.
Speaker 5 (37:40):
I think we still have a lot of room for improvement,
which is kind of scary. I think me personally still
got a lot of work to go, and I think
as an offense, I think we all are challenging ourselves
to try to bring more to the group project. You
know what I mean. We talk about our defense, who've
done a hell of a job, but I think we
have to do a better job of helping them out.
(38:02):
You know what I mean. We've done better these last
couple of weeks, but we got so much more left
to do and improve on.
Speaker 2 (38:07):
We talked about this a little bit with the leadership.
You got a bunch of rookies in that room.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
I mean a bunch.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
We're talking about Tay obviously he's in your room, but
Jade and Woody. I thought it was interesting. Woody at
the in the coach game, he's asking, Hey, if I
break out it here, what do I do, and CJ
grabs him, Jake grabs him.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
What's it been like to kind of watch that just
the young.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
Guys offensively kind of their eyes wide open seeing the
NFL through the first year. I mean, you've been around,
you've seen some things, you played Super Bowls, you've been
in the biggest environments ever, what's it been like kind
of watch the young dudes kind of go through this?
Speaker 5 (38:39):
Well. I think I've been kind of proud of how
they've handled themselves because none of them have been big eyed. Yeah,
and none of them have been surprised by what's happening
or how they've played, or anything that's happening. I think
that's testament to the coaches for having us prepared and
also them being just having a grid about themselves.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
All right, Trent, let's talk about the important things now.
The ranch.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
Okay, so tell us about brown ranchild got started and
wear a chat right now.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
So, as a child, that's something that was always my dream.
I grew up around at my mom's side. I had horses, cows,
my dad's side, they crops and animals as well livestock,
and so I always wanted a ranch on my own
and I would always say I'm gonna have a ranch,
I'm gonna have cows, I'm gonna have horses, And so
I always knew I would have horses, I mean cows,
(39:23):
but then and horses to some extent. But now I've
kind of I'm through my dog trainer, I got into
breeding performance horses, and so I'm kind of in the
cow horse business. I breath cow horse barrows and rope
horses and so that's and also I run a calcaf
operation and I sell the beef a little bit on
the side, private treaty, and so it's just been fun
(39:45):
to see my dreams come true. Hope to keep growing.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
That's how many how many horses do you have? I mean,
do you have like a lidey of how many horses
would you have in your stable?
Speaker 5 (39:55):
I own about fifty horses.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
Oh whoa so a performance horse? What is a perform
orman's horse do? Is it drissage or is it something else?
Speaker 5 (40:03):
So they have drisage. I don't really breed for that,
so to speak. I do more so like Western disciplines,
you know, so like your cow horse, or if somebody
wants a raining horse, roping and barrels, like I say,
none of nothing that's too fancy. I like the I
like the cow horse world is. I like the people
(40:23):
that are in it. A lot of friendly people.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
Okay, So there are times when the guy next to you,
Kate Stover, you know, I has to line up next
to you. Have you guys kind of shared thoughts on
ranches and farming and those kind of those kind of things,
because we've had a lot of conversations about him and
what he wants to do, which I know is a
little different, but it's kind of the same world in
the sense.
Speaker 5 (40:41):
Yeah, Kaye's a little further alone than I am. He
understands that side of the business a little bit more,
and I pick his brain a lot about it. But
me and kay talk a lot about Kyles.
Speaker 6 (40:51):
That's awesome.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
So Trent Ocho Sinko retweeted a video of you riding
a horse about a year and a half ago. This
thing went viral and you're riding a horse and it
looks like you're riding a pony, like a normal person
riding a pony. Because you're a large individual. Do you
need a special kind of horse to ride? Fair question? Right,
You're listed at three hundred and eighty pounds.
Speaker 5 (41:12):
No, so I just try to get a bigger quarter horse.
That horse I was riding in that video, his name
is Draggon. He's about fifteen three point three hands, about
thirteen hundred and fifteen hundred pounds.
Speaker 4 (41:23):
It looks like my dog this video.
Speaker 5 (41:25):
And the rule is you kind of want to be
like a third of the horse or less of the
horses white.
Speaker 3 (41:30):
So I'm riding the horse is okay, Yeah, we don't
have to worry about the horse with you on the horse.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
So growing up, when did you fully get comfortable riding horses?
Speaker 1 (41:39):
What is it as a kid?
Speaker 5 (41:40):
Early on?
Speaker 6 (41:41):
Really?
Speaker 1 (41:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (41:42):
Falling off and hit my head earlier on. And now
I wouldn't say I'm a pro, but I practiced to
b one.
Speaker 4 (41:47):
Wow, outstanding.
Speaker 3 (41:48):
So you don't get to get back that much into
the ranch, right, maybe some days off here and there.
Speaker 5 (41:54):
I did earlier in the season, but now here not
much lately. I haven't been back. I haven't ridden in
probably about two months now. Wow. My uncle Keays legged
up for me.
Speaker 2 (42:04):
So then when the season's over, you immediately head back there.
And that's where the off season spent.
Speaker 5 (42:08):
For the most part. But I mean I I my
first time is always go to see my kids in
the n I go see my other kids.
Speaker 3 (42:13):
Sure, yeah, absolutely, So how does it feel being in
Texas playing professional football after being other places like the
Raiders in New England?
Speaker 5 (42:22):
This is a dream come true. Honestly, I haven't been
vocal that vocal about it, but I've always in the
back of my mind, like, man, I would love to
play in Texas, close to home, and this is this
has always been the ideal situations because I would my
grandpa would be able to come see me, and he
wouldn't have to. He's not getting on the plane or
bus or anything. He's only traveling by car.
Speaker 4 (42:42):
So he has he's seen you here at the Energy beautiful.
Speaker 1 (42:45):
Correct.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
So I got to ask because everybody that's one of
Super Bowl I always want to know. It's always interesting
that you know, dudes talking about jewelry, But where's your
Super Bowl ring?
Speaker 1 (42:56):
You bring it out? Ever? Do you wear it to advance?
You haven't? Lock box somewhere lockbox.
Speaker 5 (43:03):
Never wear it, never wear it forgot I had.
Speaker 2 (43:07):
It to know when it went into winning that ring.
But I mean it just stays in the lock box.
You don't bring out for like different events or anything good.
You know what, win one here and we'll have that
one out right right and where that when you're riding.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
Yes, absolutely, Trent, Thanks love for joining us, Thank you
for having me. I've said this so often.
Speaker 2 (43:26):
I love getting these guys in studio because Mark and
I dive into them without the helmet on, and I
think it's been so hugely important to get to know
these guys as more than just well the guy that
plays right tackle. And Trent, what an awesome dude, What
a great interview. So glad that he's here, and hopefully
he's got some more great play left in him. But
(43:49):
doesn't break the ring out the box. It just stays
in the lock box. That's pretty awesome.
Speaker 1 (43:53):
And like Mark said, win one here and wear that one.
That would be a fun time. Okay, we get back.
Speaker 2 (43:59):
The status report actually has got some good news for
the Texans.
Speaker 1 (44:04):
But for the Cardinals hoo, I don't know I've seen
one like this in a while. We'll discuss that next
right here in Texans All Access Taping.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
Everybody, Happy Friday to you, Welcome back to the show.
John Harris, football analyst, sideline reporter for your Houston Texans.
So glad you are with me on this Friday evening.
Hopefully it is a wonderful one wherever you are, the man,
the weather has just been incredible, so I hopefully you're
out enjoying, maybe eating on a deck, whatever it might be.
(44:34):
Now it sounds like Sunday we might get rained, but
we play inside, so that's good. But hopefully if it
does rain, hopefully it's not too bad. But enjoy your weekend,
get yourself ready for Sunday. Kick is at noon. You've
got Texans Countdown Sports Radio six to ten with Sean
Pendergast and Seth Payne.
Speaker 1 (44:53):
I'll jump on at nine point fifteen.
Speaker 2 (44:55):
I know the guys Andre and Mark will be in
I think like ten, ten, fifteen, something like that, So guests,
plenty of great analysis from those two guys. Then Mark,
Andre and myself will take you through the rest of
the game. Then postgame, hopefully talking about Texans win, will
be Sean Pendergast again and Clint Sterner, and hopefully your
calls will be all about how the Texans whitewashed the
(45:16):
Cardinals on Sunday, hopefully hopefully fingers crossed. That is the
way it goes. Now let's get to our status report
every Friday for a Sunday game, we got to take
a look.
Speaker 1 (45:27):
At the status report. Who's in, who's out? Now?
Speaker 2 (45:32):
I mentioned earlier as I teased this segment, I said,
good news, very good news. So let's start with two
guys that we just we don't know about yet, but
they open their practice window Justin Watson wide receiver, tight
end Harrison Bryant. Their windows were open. Their list is questionable.
(45:57):
My gut tells me right now that they you know what,
I don't know. I shouldn't even say that, but their
listen as questionable. But I thought is that they were
going to be played, they probably would have no status.
But they're working their way back from injury. So this
is their first week of practice back. So my guess
would be no on Harrison Bryant and Justin Watson, but
(46:19):
but good that they are back and getting themselves ready.
Just in case whatever happens at Titian wide receiver, those
two would be ready to go and healthy. Now the
names that have been kind of bandied about people nervous about.
Woody marks full participant today in practice, no game status.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
Wood He's ready to go. Okay, good.
Speaker 2 (46:43):
Nick Chubb did practice today in a limited capacity, list
as questionable. Kamari Lassiter also practice today in a limited
capacity after missing the first two days. Like Nick Chubb,
no game status. So Kamari's in, Yes, that is fantastic news.
(47:05):
EJ speed Man. EJ has been limited all week with
a knee issue. Now he has practiced, He's listened as
questionable as well.
Speaker 1 (47:16):
And I know we all talk about, you know, Kamari
and the running.
Speaker 2 (47:18):
Backs lot EJ speed oh man, if we didn't have
EJ on Sunday, that would be a killer. Now linebackers
have played very well and if Jake Hansen had to
play it, feel very very confident Jacob going there and
do some good thing.
Speaker 1 (47:33):
Christian Harris the same thing. He's played a lot of
football for this team.
Speaker 2 (47:36):
But EJ has given this defense just a different element.
He has been great all year long and on special teams.
So EJ questionable with the knee, but did practice. We
did not have any DMPs on Friday, so I was
at least a step in the right direction. But Kamari
in Wood, he in, Nick Chubb questionable, EJ speed questionable. Okay,
(48:01):
let's flip it over to the Cardinals now, brace yourself
because I can't remember. I don't remember a time two
for six eight eight players are out. Eight they are
starting offensive lineman, Evan Brown, starting wide receiver, Marvin Harrison junior,
(48:24):
starting offensive tackle, Paris Johnson junior, starting corner. Not all
the time, but a lot of that time. Max Melton
defensive lineman start. Some very good rotational player Ballald Nichols
rookie safety, Dadrian Taylor Demerson.
Speaker 6 (48:42):
I think safe.
Speaker 2 (48:43):
I think you're rookie, right. I'm pretty sure either way,
really good player at Texas Tech.
Speaker 1 (48:48):
He is out.
Speaker 2 (48:50):
Jalen Thompson's starting safety. Your nick alude to that earlier
this week. Out Xavier Weaver, wide receiver out, Holy Smokes,
questionable running back im Righty Mercado. And then three guys
or I'm sorry, two guys off ir LJ. Collier, Christian Jones.
(49:10):
They're questionable. Walter Nolan, a guy I have talked a
lot about this week. He is also questionable. Everybody else
is in. Wow, Texans don't have one player out. Cardinals
will have eight out five consistent starters, six or seven contributors. Man,
that is gonna be a tough road to hope for
the Cardinals. But Kobe Prissett sometimes that's all they need.
Speaker 6 (49:33):
All right.
Speaker 2 (49:34):
Coming up next, Jonathan Alexander from the Houston Chronicle is
gonna join us right here on Texas All Accent we
go on our down one hour left to go right
here on a Friday edition at Texans All Access. So
kicking off this second hour with our good friend from
the Houston Chronicle, Jonathan Alexander. Let's teed up right here.
Speaker 3 (49:53):
Jonathan Alexander joining us in studio now, Jonathan, here we go.
Five game winning streak in progress heading int the Cardinals game.
What is your thought of the whole thing, this run
that the Houston Texans are on.
Speaker 9 (50:06):
Yeah, I would say six weeks ago, I didn't expect it.
And really, if you look back on it, you go
back to that Jaguars game. You know, the Texans were
one quarter away from really not being in this situation
if not for Davis mills heroic efforts to save this
season and really give this team a joe of confidence.
The defense has all always been good, but the offense
(50:27):
really needed to pick me up and that was it,
and that helped fuel this five game winning streak along
with the dominance of this defense, which is pretty much
dominated all season.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
To be honest with you, Okay, so this would be
for both of you. Mark, you maybe can sit on
this one for a little bit. We can maybe expand it.
But I heard Sean and Seth talking about this, I
thought this was a really good question. What do you
think was the turning point of when it went from
starting zeroing three to getting all the way to eight
and five. It could have been somewhere in between the
three losses, could have been during the three losses. I
(50:58):
don't know, But what do you think, John, in your opinion,
what is the turning point where you went, okay, this
is when it really kind of took that. Whether it's
a play, whether it's a moment something off the field,
what do you think is the turning point, the key
moment where it started turning in the right direction as
you thought it might from the beginning of the year.
Speaker 9 (51:20):
Yeah, I think really talking to players, you know, they
said they learned from the losses and the Buccaneers as
really bothered them, particularly the defense. It's just how Baker
Mayfield was able to get free and run for that
first down on four and ten.
Speaker 10 (51:38):
Particularly for the offense.
Speaker 9 (51:39):
I look at I thought the Ravens game was huge
for them mentally, but it was against the depleted defense.
But really the forty nine ers win against the forty
nine ers was huge, particularly for the offense, for them
to dominate the way they did offensively. Now they didn't
score a lot in the red zone, but they really
moved the ball downfield the offensive line protected, So I
thought that showed them that they can do it. They
(51:59):
knew they had to elite defense the whole the entire time,
but doing what they did against the forty nine ers
a good defense, a good against Robert Syler, I thought
that gave them the confidence that both sides of the
ball could work together, could work well together, and then
that just spiral doorm What's.
Speaker 1 (52:14):
Interesting about that game. I've thought about that game a lot.
Speaker 2 (52:17):
It was after the Seattle Monday night trip, so we're
basically shorter day in preparation for the forty nine ers,
and then it is a complete three phase win against
the forty nine I feel like because of the five
game winning streak we've been on that that game gets
lost in a sense. And the other part of that
is Nico Collegs didn't play that game because you got
(52:39):
the concussion against Seattle or Kirk or Kirk Drew, so
Braxton Barrass, Jared Wayne, I saw him walking hall at
Jared Wayne had to step up and make some big
plays in that forty nine Ers game, and then CJ
was just you know, diming people all.
Speaker 6 (52:52):
Over the field.
Speaker 3 (52:52):
Jonathan. The defense is smoking hot right now. How hot
are they? And that's not a rhetorical question. Weigh in
on that, Yeah, I mean they're extremely hot. Obviously the
best in the entire NFL. I was looking all the
way back to decade and they have the fewest yards
per game since two thousand and nine. That Jets team, like,
(53:17):
they're historically good and in the past ten years points
per game fourth lowest. So for them to do what
they're doing weekend and week out against the best quarterbacks
that we've ever seen this play this game, Patrick Mahomes
and Josh Allen is rising there. You know, it's nothing
short of impressive. So they're the real deal. How about
(53:39):
the offense? How does the offense get going?
Speaker 2 (53:43):
And I say this knowing full well that the first
half against the Chiefs there were some really good things
and in the fourth quarter they were able to put
that touchdown in.
Speaker 1 (53:50):
The feudal on the board to seal things.
Speaker 2 (53:52):
But the third quarter is what stands out, like this
was the opportunity to put Kansas City, you know, in
the turf at that point and really walk out of
the really convincing win. But then third quarter just so offensively.
What do you think has to still improve?
Speaker 9 (54:08):
Jonathan, Yeah, you know, the Texas has been just a
little bit inconsistent for my liking. Having said that, you all,
I don't think you all would think I'm crazy for this,
but I think some people might think I'm crazy to
say this is I feel more optimistic about this offense
than I did the one last year.
Speaker 1 (54:24):
Yeah, I do too.
Speaker 2 (54:25):
I'm absolutely with you on that. Yeah, we're weapons right now. Yes, sure,
And I think that's one of the biggest things you
were down to just Nico basically.
Speaker 9 (54:32):
Yeah, And it just felt like they kept getting worse
and worse and worse, culminating into that Ravens loss, and
it was just like there's no hope.
Speaker 10 (54:39):
It almost felt like there was no hope.
Speaker 9 (54:40):
But this one you see bright spots here and there,
and you're like, well, if they can just be consistent
in this area, I think in particular, it's the offensive line.
Speaker 10 (54:49):
You know.
Speaker 9 (54:50):
I looked at the third quarter, rewatched every play of
the third quarter of their game last week, and they
just got dominated in the third quarter, just straight dominated.
It led a lot of the inaccuracies on the throws,
Woodie Marx was getting hit in the backfield, every time
Seas Strout was being pressured.
Speaker 10 (55:08):
They just really outschemed them too.
Speaker 9 (55:10):
But I think if the offensive line can be more consistent,
We've seen consistency from Titus Howard. If the other guys
can just have a little bit more consistency, then I
think then that gives them a little bit of the
advantage offensively, helps them play a lot freer and without mistakes.
Speaker 3 (55:27):
Jonathan Alexander of The Chronicle joining us on Texans Radio,
What concerns you about the Cardinals game? What should we
watch out for against Arizona on Sunday.
Speaker 9 (55:37):
I mean, Arizona's always always going to have a solid defense,
so they could potentially take the ball away from the
Texans and give the offense more possessions. And then the
other thing, they cannot run the ball to save their lives.
But the area that they do have had successes is
in the passing games and Jacoby Pissette we all know
has won a lot of games against the Texans in
(55:58):
many different uniforms, but he has an arm, he can
throw the ball, and he has weapons. Trey McBride is
a good tight end. So I think turnovers could cause
the Texans to lose, but I think they've done a
great job in recent games of keeping taking care of
the football, so I don't expect it to happen. And
(56:21):
and then this Texan defense has really just dominated everybody
this year.
Speaker 2 (56:24):
Okay, we waited long enough, well really called you in
here to talk about what are your thoughts on former
NC state legend grandfather forty four year old Philip Rivers
returning to the Colts.
Speaker 1 (56:43):
What are your thoughts when you saw it? When you
saw the news was what was your first thought?
Speaker 9 (56:47):
I was a little bit shocked, just considering how long
he's been now. Obviously, he and Shane Steichen have a
great relationship dating back to their days at the Chargers,
so it makes a little bit sense. It also shows
that the Colts really desperate to salvage this thing because
they've invested so much with the two first round picks
for Sauz Gardner and Daniel Jones being out for the
(57:11):
rest of this year and possibly next year. You know,
they want to try to salvage it, but I don't
think they can. I don't see how a forty four
year old quarterback who looks a little heavier than he
did when he left the field is gonna come back.
But you know, he's a competitive guy, he's a smart guy.
Intellect definitely helps, and if he can still throw the ball,
he'll be better than probably who they could have picked
(57:34):
up or who they could have replaced him with based
on who was available.
Speaker 4 (57:37):
Like Cam Newton.
Speaker 1 (57:38):
Cam Newton's mad they didn't call him. Yeah, yeah, I
don't think that was gonna work. Yeah. Either.
Speaker 3 (57:43):
I don't think this is gonna work, but it's gonna
be fun to watch. Jonathan tell me the Jags. Can
they be caught? Will they be caught? Thoughts on them
being caught in the AFC South.
Speaker 9 (57:54):
I think it's possible. You know, obviously the Jags can
lose Sunday's game against the Jets and still win the division.
They need to lose one of their remaining three games.
I know one is against the Colts, ones against the Broncos,
and Ones against I can't.
Speaker 3 (58:09):
Or you're saying because of the divisional record, the way
the tie breakers will.
Speaker 9 (58:12):
Shake out, Yes, so the way the tie breakers. So
they have to lose one of their final three games,
which is Broncos, Colts and one other team I can't
remember after those Cots, Titans, Titans. Yes, I could see
them losing to the Broncos easily. Sure, But if the
Jaguars win, arrest and they probably deserve it. But so
I think it's possible because I do see the Texans
(58:32):
winning out. I don't see them taking any games off
versus the The Cardinals are the Raiders because I think
they want to have the top defense in the league.
And if the Jaguars just lose one of those final
three games and the Texans could easily win the AFC South.
Speaker 2 (58:48):
Yeah, it's I mean when we look back at oh
and three, it's why I ask you a question about
turning points and you think, man, how this thing turned
to get to a point at eight and five where
now everybody is talking about them nationally, Oh, that's the team.
Speaker 1 (59:00):
You don't want to play in AFC.
Speaker 2 (59:02):
And then you got those Mark said, the pesky little
Jaguars that have played pretty well, and Trevor Lawrence has
started to play a little bit better than he was
earlier this year. Hopefully he reverts back, but yeah, hopefully
the Broncos will step up.
Speaker 1 (59:15):
Now.
Speaker 2 (59:16):
There is a way this weekend where the defending AFC
champions three times over could be mathematically eliminated with a
loss to the Chargers and wins by the Bills, Jaguars
and Texans, and that Kansas City Chiefs. For Kansas City
to not make the playoffs this year, Jonathan, what do
(59:39):
you think that says about where Kansas City is?
Speaker 1 (59:42):
Is the dynasty dead?
Speaker 2 (59:44):
Do you think they just go back and kind of
reset things and stay with Andy Reid, Mahomes, etc. And
turn it right back around. How do you look at
the situation in Kansas City with the Chiefs?
Speaker 10 (59:53):
Yes, really interesting.
Speaker 9 (59:55):
Like I thought that the Chiefs were talented enough this
year that they could have still made the playoffs and
even one a few games. And I didn't see them
as a super Bowl team, but they're still really good.
Defense is still solid offense. Anytime you have Patrick Mahomes
and Andy Reid, you know you feel good about it.
But I do think that they'll have to reset at
some point, and at the least they have their foundation.
(01:00:18):
Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and if you draft really well,
you can turn things around.
Speaker 10 (01:00:24):
The Rams have shown that they can do it.
Speaker 9 (01:00:25):
It's impressive for Rams just turn around and how quickly
they were able to do it. And I think the
Chiefs have all the right pieces, but it may take,
you know, moving on from some guys who particularly coming
up for contests. I think Trent McDuffie's coming up for
a contractor if I'm not mistaken, and some other guys,
so they might have to start over.
Speaker 3 (01:00:46):
These sixth, fifth and seventh seeds out of order in
the AFC right now, it's Chargers Buffalo Texans five to
six sevens. So are those three ye in your opinion?
Or do one of the other teams sneak in like
the Colts. And I'm gonna say that right now because
I know they have an eight and five record. They're
(01:01:07):
right there tied with the Texans. But they're the Colts
without Daniel Jones, and they have Philip Rivers now playing
quarterback for them, among other people. The Ravens six and seven,
the Chiefs six and seven, the Dolphins six.
Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
And seven, which is an interesting story.
Speaker 3 (01:01:20):
But does anybody else among that group sneak in to
the five, six, seven seeds in the AFC before the
playoffs are set.
Speaker 9 (01:01:28):
I think the Ravens could sneak in obviously. You know,
Lamar has looked a little hasn't looked like himself.
Speaker 1 (01:01:34):
He looks human.
Speaker 4 (01:01:35):
Yeah, that would be by winning the division.
Speaker 9 (01:01:37):
Right, that would be by winning the division, and that
it meant that the Steelers had, you know, fell off.
I don't think the Steelers are a good team, to.
Speaker 1 (01:01:44):
Be honest with you, So that could still happen.
Speaker 9 (01:01:46):
Yeah, so that could still happen. I don't think that
the Chargers are I think the chargesn't have a good defense,
but I don't think they're as strong as people might
think they are. I think their record is a little
bit better than what they are. Yep, But I could
see only the Ravens slipping in by the division. But
pretty much the field is almost set.
Speaker 3 (01:02:05):
Okay, So that NBC is praying for Ravens Steelers Sunday
Night Football Week eighteen for the that would totally.
Speaker 2 (01:02:13):
I mean, Colts Texans would be better. But then again,
I kind of hope Colts Texans doesn't matter. Oh, I
hope that's a new meaningless game at that point. I
mean a good way, ye in a good way exactly.
That's I mean, that's kind of what I'm hoping. So
take the Texans out of this. About what I'm about.
What I'm gonna ask you, Jonathan, which AFC team would
you not want to face in the playoffs? Got the Patriots,
(01:02:36):
the Broncos, those are top two, Jags are third, Fourth
right now would be the Steelers, and then Mark just
mentioned the three wild card teams that end up being
right now, the Chargers, Bills.
Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
Take the Texans out of that.
Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
You still got to, you know, Chiefs could find their
way in somehow, Ravens could find their way in. What
one team would you not want to face in the
AFC in the playoffs?
Speaker 9 (01:02:57):
You know, y'all might think I might say that Patriots
because of Mike Vrabel's history, and they're high, and they
probably have a lot of confidence, and Drake Mallay is
playing phenomenally.
Speaker 10 (01:03:07):
But for me, it's the Broncos.
Speaker 9 (01:03:09):
And I say this because in the playoffs defense becomes emphasized,
and I think the Broncos easily have the second best defense,
and then in the entire NFL, and I think they
could cause problems and knicks is is kind of similar
to Stroud in that they're good quarterbacks and they can
be really good, but as long as they don't turn
the ball over, you know, then they can win games
(01:03:32):
for this team. And I think also think Sean Payton
is a is an intelligent offensive mind. So I think
among the I don't think there's a dominant team in
the ABC, but if there's a more complete team in
the a f C, then I think it's the Broncos.
Speaker 1 (01:03:45):
Jonathan, what do you have going out on the chronicle
for us?
Speaker 9 (01:03:48):
I looked, as I mentioned a little bit earlier, I
looked at, you know, this Texans team, whether they can
get to the super Bowl, and uh, based on how
their defense is played and where they fit orley among
the top teams in a decade.
Speaker 3 (01:04:02):
Cool Houston Chronicle. Check it out, Jonathan Alexander, thanks a
lot for joining us.
Speaker 10 (01:04:06):
Thanks for having me.
Speaker 1 (01:04:07):
He's a man. Love getting Jay in studio with us.
Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
All Right, coming up, it's a wild week of games
in Week fifteen in the NFL. I'll pick them straight
up and against the spread for fun, for fun, but
it is a good way to talk around the league,
talk about things that are happening in the NFL. So
we'll do that next right here on Texans All Access,
(01:04:33):
tapping in Welcome Back Friday edition Texans All Acts as
second Hour.
Speaker 1 (01:04:38):
That means Predictions time.
Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
Yes, I'm your host, John Harris Football and O Southlid
reporter for your Houston Texans.
Speaker 1 (01:04:45):
Love to make predictions. I just love to talk about
this league. Man.
Speaker 2 (01:04:48):
This league is awesome no matter what's going on. Maybe
it wasn't so awesome with the Texans rowing three, but
it feels awesome now at eight and five and really
starting to make a little bit of noise in this league.
But it's also a full week of games. So let's
do some predictions straight up and against the spread, and
for fun, for fun.
Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
Let's good away and talk about the league too. So
let's do it. But I need my music, give me
my music, my strow. There it is okay. Here we go.
Speaker 2 (01:05:22):
Bill's Patriots, man, We're coming right out to shoot with
some biggies. This is big nine to four Bills, eleven
to two Patriots. Patriots win, they win the series, they
take a sweep. They would have beaten the Bills twice.
I do not think that happens.
Speaker 1 (01:05:37):
Buffalo is a one and a half point favorite for
a reason. On the road.
Speaker 2 (01:05:42):
I think Joshi Josh is incredible in this game. Patriots
played very well at home, but I think in this
one the Bills catch him not napping, but they catch them.
Bills win this thirty one twenty seven and just get
one game closer to the Patriots.
Speaker 1 (01:06:02):
That's all they need.
Speaker 2 (01:06:03):
Just keep one game at a time, one game at
a time. Maybe they did up catching them, Maybe they
end up winning the division, which would be kind of
cool for the Bills to be able to do that.
It's gonna be tough, but I think they get the win,
and in getting the win, they'll get the cover as well.
Ravens Bengals man Joey Burrow is just not happy.
Speaker 1 (01:06:22):
He has been phenomenal. Last week.
Speaker 2 (01:06:25):
He'd have his two interceptions against the Buffalo Bills, but
he was phenomenal week before against the Baltimore Ravens on
Thanksgiving Night. Well, he gets the Ravens again, this time
in Cincinnati. Baltimore still a two and a half point favorite.
Now with all that's going on with the Pittsburgh Steelers,
and we'll get to them a little bit. The Ravens
can get on a little mini run here at the end,
(01:06:46):
finish this thing with four wins.
Speaker 1 (01:06:48):
It won't be easy.
Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
Because they've got the Bengals, They've got the Steelers again,
they've got the Patriots. I think that's next week on
Sunday Night. So it's gonna be tough. But I think
the Ravens are gonna get this. I think the Bengals
fall to four and ten, Joe's more upset, Ravens win
and they end up winning by four thirty eight thirty four.
(01:07:09):
Ravens get to win, they cover that two and a half.
Jets Jaguars not gonna take too much time. You know
what's on the line here, But I will tell you
that Brady Cook, yes, rookie quarterback from Missouri, we'll start
at quarterback for the Jets going against the Jaguars where
thirteen and a half point favorites at home. The Jaguars
(01:07:30):
will punish the Jets twenty eight to six. They get
a win and a cover. I hate it, but that's
just the reality. Chargers taking on the Chiefs. Oh boy,
here we go. Now, you know what I told you
earlier in the weeks.
Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
I know you were listening.
Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
But the Chargers beat the Chiefs, and the Bills, Jaguars,
and Texans all win. The Chiefs are mathematically eliminated, which
would be great, but it's not gonna happen because the
Chargers are gonna end up beating the Chiefs. Their six
point favorites almost a touchdown favorite. Chiefs are gonna win
this and they're gonna win by seven, So that's a
little bit more than six or give the Chiefs a
(01:08:06):
winning a cover. Maybe not the prettiest win, but twenty
four to seventeen is gonna do the trick. They get
a little bit of brazil revenge, if you will now
Manta Zuma's revenge, Brazil's revenge for that loss earlier. Chief's
gonna have to play a whole lot better offensively. Patrick's
try to stay away from the interceptions. The Chiefs keep
alive the dream one more week and that's all they're
(01:08:28):
looking to do. Okay, Brown's bears in Chicago. There is
a cold front coming through kind of the Midwest parts
of the mid Atlantic. It's gonna be for agid. So
the first thing I would tell you is take the under.
The total is thirty eight and a half to take
the under. Secondly, the Bears are faired by seven and
(01:08:50):
a half. I think gonna win this thing. Twenty three
to ten. Bears gonna beat the Browns. The Bears will
then move to ten and fourth. Think the Packers are next.
For that man, they got to play the Packers twice
in like three or four weeks time. That isn't easy,
but they'll geta win. They'll beat the Browns. Schnur will
struggle in the cold, actually everybody will, but the Bears
(01:09:10):
will find a way. A couple turnovers will turn it
for the Bears. That's what they've been relying on all year.
Bears win twenty three to ten under Bears cover Bears win. Okay,
Commander's Giants not much going on here, won't spend too
much time. It's in New York. Giants are favored by two.
Speaker 1 (01:09:27):
And a half.
Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
Looks like Jane Daniel's not gonna play That does feel
like Marcus Barriota right now is a little bit better
than Jackson Dart. But I think the Giants will end
up getting this. They're favored by two and a half.
Vegas thinks they're pretty even. Let's go with the Giants
at home. I don't know, feel great about it, but
they'll win, but the Commanders will cover, so that kind
of covers me. The Giants win, E got it, but
(01:09:49):
I think Commanders will cover. They'll get inside of two
and a half or win the game outright. Raiders Eagles,
Oh boy, Eagles at home are a twelve and a
half point favorite, but they've not been playing well. We've
seen all that. The Raiders are just kind of a
hot mess. So the Raiders got to play the Eagles
in Philly and then travel to Houston next week. I
hope the Eagles beat them up. I think they're going to.
(01:10:09):
This is gonna be forty one to fourteen. Eagles get
the offense rolling against the Raiders and they get a
big cover points spreads twelve and a half. So it's
gonna be a big one for the Eagles at home.
Speaker 1 (01:10:23):
They need one. Okay, it's get the afternoon games.
Speaker 2 (01:10:25):
And let's start with the one game that everybody will
be watching in that afternoon window. And I'll tell you what,
the afternoon window is really really good. Indianapolis Colts featuring
Philip Rivers against the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 1 (01:10:42):
Seattle's favored by thirteen and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:10:45):
If they start Rivers and it doesn't go well and
they have to go to Riley Leonard, at that point,
it'll go worse. Seattle's gonna win this game. I've got
a thirty eight to ten kind of vibe, and that's
what I'm going with. It would be fun to see
Rivers kind of do a few things, maybe kind of
over the next few games, get, you know, show some
(01:11:06):
things so that by the time they got to the Jaguars,
you could upset the Jaguars. But it didn't happen in
this one. These dudes are bad asses in Seattle. Seattle
wins that thing. Big Packers Broncos, Packers favorite on the
road by two and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:11:20):
Gotta have the Packers win, So I'm going my heart
and my head on this one. Packers win. Packers will
cover that two and a half. Titans taking on the
Fortyers in San Francisco. San Francisco's favored by twelve and
a half. Oh man, I can't see the Titans keeping
that thing close.
Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
Let's go forty nine Ers twenty eight to ten beating
the Titans out in San Francisco. Panthers and Saints football
game kind of it is in New Orleans. Panthers are
faired by two and a half. But check this out,
Saints an upset they get to win and it's an under,
but they win that ballgame, so obviously they get a cover.
(01:11:57):
Lions Rams is a good one out in LA. But
the Rams forty five points they scored last week. I
think they don't do anything quite at that level, but
they do win this thing thirty eight thirty one over
the Rams or faired by six, so we'll get all cover.
And then Sunday night Vikings Cowboys in Arlington Dallas Fairy
(01:12:17):
by five and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:12:18):
I'm gonat Dallas to win.
Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
I think they will get it done in that game
against the Minnesota Vikings. Okay, so a feel good Friday,
So that means Tomko Ryans with market. I next right here,
we got one battle segment of this edition of Texans
All Access and then we turn it over to more
Texans All Access. Yeah, on a Friday night, we got
you from six to eight, eight to nine.
Speaker 1 (01:12:41):
Mark will take you through the next hour. Plenty of
good stuff there.
Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
Chris Myers, we'll call the game for Fox Smart cut
up with him leading up to this game, so we'll
have that for you, amongst other things in that final
hour from eight to nine before we hand it over
to Area forty five. Now, you know how I roll
on a Friday segment. I like leaving the show feeling good.
A feel good Friday that means the man himself, the
(01:13:07):
Miko Ryans. We had a lot to talk about earlier
in the week, the win over the Chiefs, get ready
for the Cardinals.
Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
We had a good time talking with coach. Let's feel
good on a Friday right here coach with Mark and
myself with us at studio.
Speaker 3 (01:13:20):
Head coach Tamiko Ryan's coach, congratulations, good to see how's
it going?
Speaker 6 (01:13:24):
Thanks, great to see you guys going well. I was
excited out their win.
Speaker 3 (01:13:28):
All right, coming off the victory over the Kansas City
Chiefs and heading into the Arizona game back at home
on Sunday at NRG Stadium. But let's review Sunday night football,
coach or defense was magnificent and your offense did plenty
in the game to get the job done.
Speaker 6 (01:13:41):
Ultimately, Yeah, started o was out standard defensive performance, one
of the best I've seen, especially versus you know that quarterback.
Guys did a really great job of playing excellent and coverage,
like being where we needed to be, making the plays
we needed to make. The al Kamari, you know, playing
an outstanding game. The play made and the end zone
(01:14:03):
to you know, bat the ball down. That was a
huge play in the game. He gets an interception, he's
showing up, he's tackling, he's just all over the place,
you know, playing reckless in the interior or d tackle.
I think every time they ran the football Tommy told
you I made a tackle, it was he had over
ten tackles, like it was an impressive job by him.
(01:14:26):
Was just really playing style, controlling the line of scrimmage.
And then at the second level, just the linebackers again disease.
I throw Petrie in there and Henry. They were flying around,
they were making plays, they were playing physical and d line,
and although we didn't get a ton of sacks, I
thought how we played Mahomes was exactly you know the
game playing just playing smart around him, especially when he's
(01:14:49):
scrambling through on the sideline. Guys played really smart. Didn't
put ourselves in any bad spots there. So I'm just
proud of the guys for executing the game, playing the
proper way.
Speaker 4 (01:15:00):
Coach.
Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
When you see A Z's snatch that interception, I know
I hadn't thought of, but there were two of them
I know this year, and he talked about it in
the post game show saying, I think they're up to
seven that he had in his hands and he couldn't
hang on too. But when he snatches that one, it's
literally right in front of our bench.
Speaker 1 (01:15:16):
When you see him make that pick, what are you
thinking at that moment?
Speaker 6 (01:15:19):
He caught it, Yes, he caught it, because he's my
guy man, he's uh. I was happy, really happy that
he called the ball. He's had a lot of a
lot of tough ones that a lot of close ones
that he didn't come down with. So I was just
excited for him and where he caught it, like knowing
that our offense was in the plus territory already on
(01:15:40):
their side. So I was definitely excited and fired up
about that. Happy for a Zase to get it in
that moment.
Speaker 3 (01:15:47):
And a side note on him, an important one, Walter
Payton Man of the Year Award nominee.
Speaker 4 (01:15:53):
He's the Club Award winner, coach. What about that?
Speaker 6 (01:15:55):
Yeah, it's it says a lot about you know, A
Z's and the man that he is, you know underneath
the helmet, he's such an outstanding young man, a guy
who's in the community. He's all about helping kids. He's
a guy who was always willing to share his story.
He had a rough upbringing, but he was able to overcome,
persevere and be in a spot where he's an NFL player,
(01:16:18):
and the one thing that he cares about most is
reaching back out to young kids who could have were
possibly in the same situation that he's in, and he
wants to talk to them, let them know that whatever
you're going through, you can overcome it. And he has
such a just a great feel about just being able
(01:16:39):
to be there for people. When we were trying to
we were trying to surprise him with the Walter Paton
Man of the Year, he was doing a movie night
event for the kids in our team room team auditorium
and we're waiting in the defensive auditorium. Was like, hey,
they should be done by now. The cameraman their arms
(01:16:59):
again entired, they're holding the can so it's like it
pop over. It's like, oh, well, these is talking to
every kid. He's making sure every person leaves with an autograph.
Speaker 1 (01:17:09):
Yeah, coach.
Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
You talked about this at your inaugural press conference, how
you want the guys to be better fathers, men, husbands,
et cetera. And Asese is a great example of that.
You've had him for a long time under your tutelage,
if you will. What about that part of it has
to be very gratifying to see these guys grow.
Speaker 6 (01:17:25):
And for sure, it's very gratifying to see, you know,
especially with disease. I've known him since twenty nineteen. He
was an undrafted free agent rookie for Man San Francisco,
and just to see where he where he started and
how he's just matured over the over the years as
a player and also off the field, just as a leader.
(01:17:47):
Like to go from undrafted free agent rookie who's not
playing much at all and now here we fast forward
to twenty twenty five and you're a team captain, Walter Payton,
Man of the Year for the Houston Texas. That speaks
well for hisself, Like he's just man, He's grown so
much and you need anybody to talk to the team,
(01:18:09):
give them a motivational message or whatever, or some wisdom
insight into like it's disease and so he's the guy
always lean on like, Hey, I need you to talk
to the guys about whatever it may be. Like I
know he's gonna deliver the proper message at that time.
I know he's gonna say it, probably better than I
can say it. And he's very relatable in the locker room.
(01:18:30):
The guys look up to him, and I'm just thankful
we were able to get him here to Houston because
he's been such an impact guy for our team.
Speaker 2 (01:18:38):
Cause you think when a team has a great defense
the way that we do here, I think the.
Speaker 1 (01:18:45):
Thought is, oh, there are a bunch of bad dudes.
Speaker 2 (01:18:48):
Oh man, these guys must be you know, terrors or
whatever the case might be.
Speaker 1 (01:18:52):
And it's really not that.
Speaker 2 (01:18:54):
On the plane on the way home, cycling through everything
and social media is just going crazy. But I ended
up seeing the interview with Melissa Stark after the game
and it was cj Aziz and Jalen and when they
popped up the highlight and they wanted Jalen to talk
about his interception, which is one of the great interceptions ever.
The guy tips, it turns around after Kalin drills the
(01:19:16):
receiver and makes a diving catch and the first thing
Jalen says is that play happened because A Z's jumped
in the opening window.
Speaker 1 (01:19:23):
For the quarterback. For your players to.
Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
Look at the game that way, that it's not me,
that guy made the play for me.
Speaker 1 (01:19:32):
What is that?
Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
What do you think that says about what you're building here,
what you guys have been building here for a while,
and the players you have in the building already.
Speaker 6 (01:19:39):
Oh, the guys understand the message. They understand the formula
of what it takes to play great team defense. Great
team football is not about one guy. And I always
will say then, I always make sure the guys believe
that it is never about one guy, like you made
a play because of what someone else probably on a
(01:20:00):
particular play as well. So that speaks to Jalen making
that comment about disease being there and Jay there wasn't
an exceptional play by Jalen. But everybody feeds off of
each other. We talk about it all the time. We're
gonna be an elite defense. It's gonna be about rush
and coverage. It's gonna be about d line run game,
d lin setting edges, forcing the ball back inside so
(01:20:22):
the linebackers, the safeties can feel inside So it's all
about guys playing together. And we've played together so well.
We just have to continue to do that and we're
doing great things as a defense.
Speaker 3 (01:20:34):
Do you have to sell them on to a degree, Hey,
you're gonna get your numbers if you played the way
you want them to play, it'll happen. It's like basketball.
You'll score points if you play this way.
Speaker 6 (01:20:44):
No doubt about it. And you'll see sometimes when we
do give up a play, somebody's pressing, somebody's trying to
do something that's not in line with the defense or
what we were coaching and coaching the guys to do. Well,
I thought I could make a play. Well, that's what
we give up plays. So you just have to always
talk about it all the time. You just have to
play the defense the right way. Play the defense the
(01:21:06):
right way. And what I mean by that is is
all he living gods. Just be where you're supposed to
be and just go as hard as you could possibly go,
play as physical as you could possibly play, and we're
gonna make plays. Everybody will have their opportunities and you
never know when the opportunity comes. But just be where
you're supposed to be, have your eyes in the right place.
There are a ton of opportunities for everyone. You just
(01:21:29):
said it.
Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
You never know when your opportunity is gonna come or
most so when the guy about to ask you about
you never know when your opportunity is gonna come back.
And I talked to Dara last night after the game,
and I think it's well known. In that first game
against the Rams, he has that play at the end
where he's trying to get extra yards. It gets punched out.
At that point, man, where's your season going? What's gonna happen?
(01:21:50):
What he starts to get a lot of carries? Nick
is getting and so Darry's not getting a lot of
reps are running back. And yet and yet, in what
we arguably could say is the biggest win of the year,
down the five yard line, it started goal who finds
his opportunity and takes advantage of that.
Speaker 1 (01:22:06):
Coach, what do you think that says about him?
Speaker 2 (01:22:07):
Seemingly, as you know, a symbol of the way the
team reacts.
Speaker 1 (01:22:11):
But Darry stepping up with that opportunity.
Speaker 6 (01:22:13):
It's such a great story. You go back to that
first game and when we were heading down to close
the game out, like we throw the ball to Darray,
you know, in the flat, and of course he you know,
the guy makes a great play on the football. He
lets go now fast forward here. You know we're playing
against the Chiefs on the road. What he gets nicked up,
(01:22:34):
Tubb gets nicked up. It's like like, let's go, hey,
let's let's run. It is there's the trust factor in
all of our players that we as coaches have, Like man,
I believe in all these guys. That's why they're on
our team. I believe in them. I trust day with
whatever we're asking him to do, Like I know, he's
gonna come up for us. And that was such a
(01:22:55):
huge play, huge moment for him. Happy for him to
be able to get that moment in Kansas City.
Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
Yeah, coach, you mentioned Woody had the touchdown catch, twenty
six carries last night for sixty eight yards. I know
you want more yards. But the willingness, the commitment to
stick with it, keep hammering the ball, don't turn it over,
keep going, keep making some forward progress here, and it
worked out at the end of the night.
Speaker 6 (01:23:18):
Yeah. I think we talked about this like last week.
It's like when things don't they may not the runs
may not look great. But you still just have to
stick with it. You have to stick with him, force
them to defend the runs, force them to defend a
variety of runs. And I felt like we did that.
I felt like the number was thirty. I think we
ended up getting like thirty runs, and I always feel
(01:23:38):
like that's the number. That's how you control the game.
It's how you win that time possessing battle versus KC,
who's done a great job. That's what they do. Like
they find a way to just get first downs and
keep moving down the field, take calculated shots when they
need to, and that was a good way for us,
a good formula for us to kind of beat them
at their own game.
Speaker 2 (01:23:57):
Coach, I think people forget it's only CJ's second game
after missing the three games. What were the things that
you like when you went back and watch the film
and what do you think there are some What are
the things you think there could be improved upon going forward?
Speaker 6 (01:24:10):
Yeah, the things I like for CJ is the movement,
like the movement out of the pocket, escaping the pocket,
keeping plays alive. I really liked him keeping his eyes down,
feel making plays, especially some of the critical third downs
he made to Higgins, Nico Dalton like. He made some
really nice throws there and also the next game. Probably
I could have said this first, just some of the
(01:24:32):
what I call the sack saber plays is some of
those plays where he's feeling that pressure guys are on him,
where in the past we've taken those sacks. He did
a great job of just dirtying the football, getting rid
of and knowing, hey, they got us on his play.
Let's not make a bad play worse. So great decisions
by him there and some improvements. I think there's some
(01:24:53):
throws I think we could have back. I think we
can make a better throw there to Nico so we
can score on the first place we the first explosive
where we run past the defender. But I think he
would just keep working into it, keep improving, making better throws.
But overall, really great decision making by him to not
(01:25:13):
turn the ball over it's always the most important thing,
and didn't turn the ball over and made great decisions
when they bad things happened.
Speaker 3 (01:25:21):
Coach, last week, we asked you if it would help
that you were there last year December January, used to
the environment, accustomed to that. How much did it help,
as you look back now on the victory over the Chiefs.
Speaker 6 (01:25:33):
I would like to think it helped a little bit
for our guys who just understanding what that moment felt
like the last time we were there, you know, being
in that locker room for the playoff loss. I think
looking at it from that lens, it was a lot
of hurt feelings, you know, in their locker room, and
you know we of course everybody did what they had
(01:25:55):
to do to not let that happen again. Like, and
so I'm proud of the guys were handling them sales,
handle the environment the right way and going there and
doing what we knew we were capable.
Speaker 4 (01:26:05):
Of doing well.
Speaker 3 (01:26:06):
Also, last week after beating the Colts, I felt like
you were happy with the win, but you know there's
a much higher ceiling. There's much more to go get
And I felt it last night again that this is
this is one to celebrate, but it's one of seventeen
and you got to keep going because the bigger ones
are down the road or maybe just this week.
Speaker 6 (01:26:25):
Yeah, No, that's my mindset. I'm locked in, like on
the what's ahead of us. I know what we're capable
of doing as a team. I feel like we have
a really special team. It's a good win. I tell you, guys,
you should expect to win.
Speaker 1 (01:26:40):
Right.
Speaker 6 (01:26:40):
We're not getting overly excited about who we beat because
we beat Like, no, that's what you expect to do.
And if you don't expect, I don't know what you're
doing here, but that's my expectations. Every time we line up.
We got to go out execute, play great football, play
team football, and we can go and be any opponent.
So my eyes are forward, right, I'm not gonna get
(01:27:02):
too high. I'm trying to stay stay as even keeled
as possible and just lead this group as best I
can coach.
Speaker 2 (01:27:08):
I thought it was interesting walking out of the locker room.
I saw Kamara on the phone and I didn't know
what it was until later, and I saw a video
clip of Shady McCoy and a mano Ocho and he's
talking to him.
Speaker 1 (01:27:17):
One of the questions that they asked him at.
Speaker 2 (01:27:19):
The very end was essentially, so you guys are good now,
I mean, like, you guys realize you're good and you know,
whatever the case might be.
Speaker 1 (01:27:29):
And he's like, no, sir, we are not satisfied.
Speaker 2 (01:27:32):
We know that we've got more there, Like you just
said there's more there with Kamara. It feels like there's
even more there. The fact that he even played last
night with that deal with that foot issue and what
he comes up with.
Speaker 1 (01:27:45):
I don't know if he was supposed to blitz on
that one play.
Speaker 2 (01:27:47):
You don't have to say it, but he ends up
like forcing Mahomes into a bad throw. It just feels
like his football IQ is playmaking what he sees. Everything
is just growing at at such a rapid rate for
him him out on the field, and then his toughness
is never questioned.
Speaker 1 (01:28:03):
Smarts are there.
Speaker 2 (01:28:04):
What do you think about what Kamara has been able
to do even last night, playing through that that injured foot.
Speaker 6 (01:28:08):
Yeah, it starts with the toughness, and he's just one
of the toughest guys I've been around. That's off the tart.
You know, he's dealing with this foot injury and he's
dealing with a lot of pain. A lot of people
wouldn't know that a boy how he played, but he's
dealing with pain. But I saw him walking, I was like, man,
you going this week? It's like Kaylan was walking with
(01:28:29):
mes like, oh, coach, he didn't have a choice, you know,
he's playing, and that's that's his mindset. I know that's
Kamara's mindset. Man, he's at you talk about a physical
a physical corner. He still he made a ton of
great tackles for us, you know, playing behind the line
of scrimmage. The blitz, Yeah, it was a call blitz.
He supposed to be there. He made a great play
(01:28:52):
there hitting my homes. He's just all over the field.
And I think the the best redeeming trade about Kamari
is let's say like he gets gives up one pass
on the on the sideline there they're backed up. It's
like he doesn't blame. He comes back the next play
he's chasing the tight end across the field like we're relentless. Ever,
(01:29:13):
you can't catch the football on him. He runs down deep,
he comes back up. He sets the ads on the
next play like he's just so even killed, he's so
in the moment. He say, has this next play mentality
and he's so locked in. And I think that confidence
that he shows, like you you can't fluster him, no
matter if you catch the ball on him or not.
He comes back, he picks the ball off. So he's
(01:29:35):
a guy who just you know can't be messed with.
People keep trying him, and he keeps proving over and
over again and he can make those plays.
Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
I don't know if I should use the word underrated,
but we've talked about so many plays from the game.
But the ball he knocks away from Tai Kwan Thornton
in the end zone, just playing through the hands, doing.
Speaker 1 (01:29:52):
His coach, that's just big a plays. There isn't that.
Speaker 6 (01:29:55):
Game huge play, huge play man. A lot of guys
panicing that moment. I always always try to teach coaches like,
how do you put your guys in those stressful positions,
like when you're downfield, the ball is in the air.
How can we train guys in those moments, because that's
we're gonna want them to make the play, So train
them in that moment. And you know, for him to
(01:30:16):
not panic in the moment, a lot of guys get
past interference there and they look like he did an
outstanding job playing through the hands exactly how you would
teach it. It's such a huge player.
Speaker 4 (01:30:27):
Well, how do you practice that? What can you tell us, coach?
Speaker 1 (01:30:30):
You have to go full speed with that kind of thing.
Speaker 6 (01:30:32):
Well, you you know you can't go full speed all
the time. But it's just a matter. I think coach
Diino does a really good job with the DBS of
having them track the football, Like he has a lot
of different drills where he throws up things distracting them
to make make it distracting so their eyes are truly
focused on the football. So just doing drills like that
(01:30:54):
in a condensed space. You can't go full speed all
the time. But as many reps as you can get
of a guy playing when the ball is up, playing
through the hands, or going attacking the football going up
in the cast of football, like, you can't put them
in those spots enough. Coach.
Speaker 2 (01:31:10):
There's been a number of times this year Bill's game
for sure, come off the Colts game, obviously this game,
and everybody's talking about your defense or talking about CJ
making some plays, telling you how great you are. And
now here come to Arizona Cardinals, a team that is
out of playoff contention, not playing exceptionally well, coming off
a tough loss to the LA Rams.
Speaker 1 (01:31:31):
That always feels like I know in our position.
Speaker 2 (01:31:33):
Like that's a team I don't really want to play
because they got nothing to lose and we got a
lot to play for it, So with them coming into
the building, how important as you'd like to say, when
you lose it, you gotta flush.
Speaker 1 (01:31:45):
When you lose one, you gotta flush it.
Speaker 2 (01:31:47):
But when you win one, you kind of gotta flush
that too, in a sense that you don't keep living
off it too long into a week that you're not
totally prepared for the Cardinals.
Speaker 1 (01:31:54):
What are your thoughts about taking on them on Sunday?
Speaker 6 (01:31:56):
Yeah, for us, like even going back to the game
right versus Cans, even though we won that game, Like,
there's so many things we got to clean up, so
there's no room for anyone to, you know, not to
look past a team or like, I'm so focused on
our team right now and the things we have to
clean up offensively. We got a ton of things that
(01:32:17):
we need to clean up. Defensively. There are some things
that you know, got loose on us a little bit
that we can we can clean up with some communication
things as well. So I'm so focused on that where
we got to focus on us to where Okay, whoever
our next opponent is, we'll deal with that when when
the time comes, But right now, we got to clean
up our house first, and then you know, the Cardinals.
(01:32:39):
They'll present some different challenges, especially defensively. You know, Gannon
has done a really great job, but just he presents
a lot of different looks, three safety looks that can
be tricky at times. So the communication, the awareness identification
of what's going on is gonna be very key for us. Offensively,
he got too good receipsvers tight end. McBride's playing really well.
(01:33:03):
Guy catches the catches pastes every game. I think he
has some record of consecutive catches or something in a game.
But it's just for us. You gotta be on your coverage.
Brissett is a veteran quarterback. He's been a starter at
multiple spots, like he's been around the league for a
while now, and it's a credit to him because he
(01:33:23):
can come in, he can make plays. So we got
to get after him up front, of course, you know
our d line. That's gonna be key for us this game,
getting after their front and in the back end, like
can we go take the football away again?
Speaker 3 (01:33:35):
Coach Johnny and I volunteered to be in the team
meeting because we can tell you all about the history
of Jacoby Brissett against the Houston Texas. Really and he's
beating the Texans with three different teams. Not in your era,
of course, but there is a history here with this quarterback.
So we are in full high this game. Okay, all right,
well we'll convince the guys for you, Coach.
Speaker 6 (01:33:55):
I'm convinced now too.
Speaker 3 (01:33:56):
I'm alert the Amgy Bank ask coach quest end of
the week. It's kids Day at NRG Stadium, Coach, when
the Texans take on the Cardinals Sunday noon at NRG.
So your favorite game to play as a kid, not
formal organized football or any organized sport. It could be
a game that involves athletics, or maybe a board game
(01:34:16):
indoors with the family, or whatever the case may be.
Speaker 4 (01:34:19):
Do you have a favorite game that you played as
a kid?
Speaker 6 (01:34:22):
Favorite game as a kid, I guess indoors was Monopoly
like board games, you know, video games. We were playing
PlayStation or something like that, playing something and then just
outside when we were just outside just playing, so we
call it hotball. You just all the guys just huddle around,
you know, we throw the ball up, you get it
(01:34:43):
and you try to take off it run. It's a
different name for that. Back in the day, we call
it hotball.
Speaker 4 (01:34:50):
That's a good play record. That's right, goode coach, Thanks
a lot of good luck this week.
Speaker 5 (01:34:57):
Siate.
Speaker 2 (01:34:58):
So you heard me say that I can't tell you
what we called it, but but Jean Robinson said it
last night after the game. He said what they called
it the same thing we used to call it, but
Dimico called it hop all, So let's hop off from
now on. That's the way it'll be known. But it
was great to hear from Coach. It's great to hear
from all of our guests this evening. Stay tuned for
(01:35:20):
our final hour. Mark vanderm will have you from eight
to nine.
Speaker 1 (01:35:24):
Stay tuned.
Speaker 2 (01:35:24):
You want to hear Chris, You want to hear Chris
Myer's voice, at least in this interview, But when you
watch the game on Sunday, turn them down and turn
up Mark Andre and myself because we'd like to think
that we give you the Homer broadcast that you definitely
want to hear when your texts are winning in particular.
So we'll see you on Sunday nine o'clock pregame Texas Countdown,
Sean Seth, Mark Andre and myself have you for the
(01:35:46):
game coverage, and then Sean and clinch Storn will have
you for the post game, hopefully talking about a win
over the Cardinals.
Speaker 1 (01:35:52):
We'll see you on Sunday. Everybody, have a great weekend.
See you then. As always, Go Texans.
