Speaker 1 (00:00):
Three point loss for the Houston Texans. They bow in
another one score game, their fifth loss of the season
and all five one score affairs against good teams. Eighteen fifteen.
They lose to Denver. They lose their quarterback along the
way of the first half. CJ. Stroud out with the concussion.
Mills came in. They couldn't get it done today. They
dropped a three and five with Jacksonville coming in next week,
(00:22):
the Jags playing the Raiders as we speak, Drey, what
about the pass rush?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah, ATB sack report the Texans. You only had one
SEC in today's game and that was by Will Anderson Junior.
As part of Sacks for Hunger, AGB will donate one
thousand dollars to the Houston Food Bank every time the
Texans sacked the quarterback. The AHB Sack Attack. It's brought
to you by AGB, the official tailgate headquarters of your
Houston Texans.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Well, Andre, the Texans battled so hard today. The defense
played so well, they couldn't hold them forever. You had
to get a little bit more out of your offense
than all field goals. Fairbearn five for six kicking field
goals today.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, I mean, we talked about it coming in in
the pregame show about when you get in the red zone,
you gotta score touchdowns and not field goals. This game's
over if they're able to get the ball in the
end zone. The frustrating part of it is not being
able to get it in from the one yard line.
And you had a couple of situations where you were
(01:21):
faced with that and you had to settle for field goals.
Two to be exact, a penalty comes in on fourth down,
forces you back and now you gotta take the field goal.
That's the frustrating part. That part needs to get fixed
because if you're able to capitalize there, you're gonna win
a lot of football games. And we saw it in Seattle.
That's a loss, and we saw it twice in this one.
(01:44):
It turned out to be a loss.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Well, never know, if CJ. Stroud is able to stay
in this game, if the Texans would have won, I
would have liked their chances considering some of the opportunities
they did have, especially in the second half after that null,
big punt return and some of the other instances in
this one. But you worry about CJ right into next
week and if he's unable to go a full practice
(02:06):
or a week of practice with Mills that the controls
is only going to help Davis against Jacksonville next week.
If that has to be the case.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Yeah, I mean, you're hoping that CJ can get himself
or he heals up fast enough for clearest protocol to
play against Jacksonville next week. You certainly feel good about that.
But that's a team that's playing some good football at
the right time. I think they have Las Vegas today,
so I would imagine their favored to win that game,
even with it being in Las Vegas. And so you're
(02:33):
talking about a team that's going to come in here,
I hold if they win it feeling pretty good about
themselves and that they've got the ship right in and
they're coming to play you, to sweep you for in
twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Well, you battled so well with the last time. Other
than which is a big exception, the turnovers, Texans need
to take better care of the football those situations, and
they did take care of the football today. They punted
a lot today. Tommy Townsend's leg has got to be
out after today. What'd you make of the defensive performance today?
Dre The big play of the game was that bow
(03:05):
next twenty five yard scrambled. That was it because that
was the difference maker getting them into scoring range at
the end.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
That put them in field goal range. So you know
you're you're looking at it from that standpoint. The defense
held Bo Nixon chick. I mean they were they operated,
operated and played well. He was less than fifty percent
eighteen to thirty seven, didn't throw for two hundred yards
two touchdowns, but they held JK. Dobbins under one hundred yards.
(03:33):
They did their job, and you have got to find
a way offensively to stop kicking field goals and put
the ball on the end zone and get the extra
four points that goes along with it.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Eighteen fifteen, the final score at three and five, you're
by no means done. It's not where you want to
be at all, just harder. You have to get healthy
at quarterback, obviously, but if you're able to do that,
they are making progress in some key areas. Again, had
we had the full arsenal on offense throughout the game,
(04:05):
maybe you would have seen some of the results of
the work they've been doing, the progress they've been making.
But what do you think of that nobody's gonna quit
in this building at three and five. They still have
some opportunities here to make Hay down the stretch. With
nine games remaining in this twenty twenty five campaign.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Yeah, when you start talking about those games at Tennessee,
you feel pretty good about that when we know about
the Jacksonville game next week. But you got some pretty
good teams that you still have to face. That's where
it gets dangerous. That's where people are saying, Hey, the
house is on fire, because the Bills are still to
play here in a couple of weeks. You have to
go to the Colts. You got to go to the Chiefs,
(04:42):
I mean those games like that, and then the Chargers
and Colts to finish round things out. You've got to
be perfect, almost perfect pretty much down the stretch. And
how you manage the schedule.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Real heartbreaking that you got a loss on the Colts
today with the Steelers beating them and you were on
a to get the victory, to get that much closer.
But there's a lot of season left with nine games
remaining in the campaign, and the Texans start that off
the back nine. Win the game against the Jaguars next Sunday,
noon Texans lose today eighteen fifteen to the Broncos. This
(05:17):
is Texans Radio.
