We're gonna have Trap Jay Travis Johnson on a little
bit later in the show, just hitting all kinds of
football stuff his career before he became a Texan, talking
about those Florida State teams and that was such a
great era with Florida State and Miami and Florida and
it's great to get his perspective on that and being
part of the Texans Legends community.

But schedule release was this week and Drew Doherty and
I just due to scheduling conflicts, we really didn't get
a chance to do in the lab until today, and
so here it is in the Lab with Drew Doherty
and me John Harris.

Schedule, including the weird sort of happenstance that this is
only the third time in Texans history that we will
go to Seattle to play the Seahawks up in the
pack northwest.

Hey, the Texans have a schedule, and I have you
to talk with and I have you the third member
of us to listen and watch and kind of take part.
And so that's kind of fun. It's a good day.
It's Friday. We're shooting this on a Friday. Friday, as
we know, is the best day of the week because
of the promise that it holds for the weekend ahead.

And I'm pumped. Man. This is a pretty I think
in terms of schedules, I don't see a whole lot
that daunts me or that frightens me or anything. I
don't see any Blizzard games on the horizon. Maybe it'll
be cold in Kansas City in December, maybe, but it's
still kind of early in December. The hottest it'll get
is that probably Jacksonville game. But by then you're it's

on the first day of fall technically, but can't be
too too bad. And then you've got some you got
a three banger there in November. But what was your
first what was the first thing that stood out to
you when you saw the schedule a couple days ago.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Well, you know, knowing who we're playing and where they're playing,
I already knew that there were only five outdoor games. Yeahs, Yeah,
so I always checked that. That's that's you know, that's
just being down the sidelights. That's one of the things
I always check. You know, which games could I get,
you know in Kansas City, Baltimore, you never know where
those get put.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
You know, you could have that. You know Baltimore very
well and.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Ought to be pretty nice when when you're there in October.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Yah, yeah, that that could be pretty nice. I always
worry about Jacksonville if they do put it in September,
because September, you know, he said it technically it's the
first day of fall.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
But it's it's on.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
The same latitude line as Houston. It is a little
bit different. But I've I've played, I've coached many a
game in Jacksonville at that time time of the year.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Yeah, it can be hot, but by then, like the edge,
the edge is off the awful you know, like hot,
but it won't be awful, awful, awful hot.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
I hope. Now.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
We were there week three in twenty three and that
was the day that things got turned around. And I
remember we went to dinner the night before with you know,
my my good friends, you know, guys that I coached
from I was, you know, younger, and I just remember like,
hey man, you got Kansas City and you know, jackson
you guys take it easy on us, man, like rozero
(03:32):
and two. We didn't look good against Indianapolis. You know,
CJ did throw it well in that second half, and
I just remember them kind of like, yeah, well, you know,
we'll take it easy on you.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
On Sunday, it was Decade.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
And they were getting and then they got booed into
the halftime they were yeah, the home fans were nothing.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Yeah, And things just turned around at that moment for
this franchise. I mean from that point, you know, that
made them one to two. But the next week it
was the Steelers. They got two and two, and you thought, man, call,
did we have something with this football team, with this
organization that we've been lacking? And so you know, Jacksonville
week three. But I think the one thing that stuck
to me, Drew was early by week four primetime games

in that Monday night game at Seattle, like.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Oh my god.
Speaker 5 (04:17):
But all that.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Being said, I felt like there was fairness in the schedule.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
I didn't feel like last year.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Like I looked at last year, like three primetime games, damn,
thirteen games in a row, damn to start the season.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Oh and we're going to Canton.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Oh god, So you know you had all that going on,
and this year it's like we're gonna start camp at
the regular time. It's an early buy yep. But the
the long travel games are spread out. Yeah, so you've
got one in week one, one week seven, one in
week seventeen. So like if you weren't gonna put them together,
so you could do like one big road trip to

spread them out, that's the most exactly I'm doing.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
I thought there was a chance the two LA games
you might or the or in La Seattle combo, right
and you stay up in San Francisco or wherever. Yeah right, yeah,
and do do something like that. But it didn't work
out that way. And yeah, I saw. What I really
stood out to me was the first seven weeks, you're

only home two games. You have four roadies those two
in the bye, but you got the buy mixed in there.
So it kind of lessons that I just remember the
Gauntlet of twenty twenty where.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
You had all those.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Teams right and legend and had a coaching change in
large part because of that that start to that season. Uh.
And then I remember two years ago getting schedule and
it's all noon games, which was funny, and that worked
out well, that worked out really well.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
For that team, you know. Yeah, so it was it was,
it was all good.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
But let's just I think that that I think the
toughest stretch of that schedule, Drew is gonna be that
you know, that includes.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
I think a trip to Indy and then home for
the Bills.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Yeah, and then at Kansas City on Sunday night. Now
you get the mini buy in between the Bills and
the Chiefs, but the man to play the Bills and
the Chiefs back to back. I mean, we did that
last year playing the Chiefs and the Ravens, but we
did that within five days. Now at least we've got, like,
you know, a week and a half between.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
The Bills and the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
But, man's that's a tough stretch.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
But to finish with three out.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Of four at home, yeah, and to have three in
a row after the Seattle trip, boy, that's when you
really could start making some headway of not traveling, just
getting in a routine and winning those games before you
go back out.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
On the road.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
And I want to say, when we go back out
on the road after those three, I think it's to
go to Tennessee. Which, look, I think Tennessee's going to
be better, but we haven't. You know, we've had success
at in Tennessee lately. I think I'm trying to remember
last time we lost I think was the COVID year
at twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
But from twenty nineteen on.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
I mean, that's the only game, you know, with a
full relatively full stadium, we've only we've won every game
just that COVID year that we lost that game in
twenty twenty, and that was a tremendous That's one of
the more underrated great games I've ever been to in
my life.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
That was incredible that day.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
But we've had success in Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
So you follow up those three at home, like, Okay,
let's knock these three out. Good opponents, but let's knock
these three out. You should be favored in all three
games at home. Let's knock them out. And then instead
of going on the road to Baltimore or going on
the road to Kansas City. You're going to Tennessee, a
place where you've won a lot of ball games and
a division opponents. So you know, I feel like this

this schedule overall was equitable.

I just know that's going to be one long trip
to Seattle.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
But once you get done with that, you have I
have some you know, some breathing room to get back
on track.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Let's rewind too, Okay, that Seattle game in twenty seventeen,
you're going You've basically almost gone three thousand days in
between trips to Seattle last time you went there. Yeah,
in fact, the exact number is I just had it
pulled up, and the exact number of days in between

you're twenty seventeen, which was October twenty ninth of twenty seventeen,
trip then to Seattle to now which is October twentieth
this year. Two thousand, nine hundred eleven days. And that
was a memorable week because of all the stuff that
went on.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Oh yeah, Dwayne, and then on top of.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
All that, Dwayne Brown had held out comes back just
and that's his last game he plays as a Houston Texan.
Played well enough to protect and have led to Sean
and the Boys put up on a amazing offensive output,
and you know, the Texans offense walked off the field
with the lead in that game, and then Seahawks drive
(09:09):
and win it and we get on the plane and
the Astros and the Dodgers the World Series. It's game
five here at it was at the Juice Box dik
In Park, and that's one of the epic games in
franchise history. I think probably the top five Houston Astros
franchise just Donnybrook man, I mean, back and forth, back
(09:29):
and forth, and the plane that we're riding on, You're
hearing all these oh's people following it. Like Shane Leckler,
I think was.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Had a t V jersey on as we walk on
a plane. We walked by he had a two V
jersey on. I contend that had we held on in
that game in some way, shape or form the way
the game was played and the Astros won, that would
have been one of the greatest days in Houston sports history.
I mean it was as it was because that's arguably
the greatest World Series game of all time. Yeah, and
I'm that game was unbelievable, and I I think what's

fascinating about it, Drew, is this trip to Seattle.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
So we've been in the league.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
This is gonna be year twenty three. Yeah, it's been there.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
It's only a third time we've been there.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Something goofy happened. It was my first year of the
team in nine. You went to Arizona and you went
to Saint Louis.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
They flipped. They flipped Arizona and Seattle for some reason.
I guess because they did something would travel.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Yeah, yeah, I think it's like it would have been
a punnet. I don't know, but yeah, you didn't have
to make that trip for some reason.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Right, and so we didn't go there five to seventeen,
it was twelve years between visits and then eight years
you know since seventeen. So it's only been up there
three times and you've beaten the Seahawks, but you've never
beaten him up there in Seattle.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
So maybe that's another, you know, check mark of things.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
That lost lots of first you can accomplish if you
do that. So that would be one. If you were
to win in balt More, You've never done that. You've
only beaten them twice here, but I've won in Baltimore
so that's Yeah, those are two pretty notable things that
you could accomplish.

You want to beat Lamar Jackson. Never beaten Lamar Jackson anywhere? Yeah,
anywhere at the point in time. Boys on six', ten
we're talking about.

One, yeah that was such an incredible.

DAY i remember thinking as we were flying out to
see and there was so much that was going on
with the team at that, time AND i meant a
ton That saturday. NIGHT i remember we went out to,
dinner AND i know the team was having like all
these meetings about what they were gonna do On, sunday
where they gonna, play where they're not gonna, play and
then it ended up being one of the most incredible
football Games i've ever seen in an incredible. Environment And

drew brought up At Dwayne brown. Situation he played in that,
game flew To, seattle played in that, game came.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
BACK i saw him on that.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Money we chatted for a little bit because we'd see
each other for a, while and literally the next day
he's off The seattle to play for The seahawks after that.
Trade so there was a lot of kind of craziness
for that, week but had we been able to hang.
ON i just remember getting on a plane and the
way we had to get in a. Plane we had
to actually walked through the players to get to our
spot in the. Back AND i just remember Seeing lekler
on the plane in nol Two, Bay, jersey and we

were getting. Updates we would kind of Get Wi fi
spotty on the, plane but stuff to kind of, refresh
and the score kept going back and, forth and we're, like,
man what is going on AND i remember being on
a bus is the one thing we didn't.

Say we were on a bus.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Coming back from the airport and we were going right
by formerly minute made Now dyke And, park right as
The ashers were scoring a game winning. GROWING i was
watching a game on my phone as we were going
Past dyke And park and they scored to win the
game as right as we were going.

By it was absolute. Madness had The texas one that.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Day it might have been one of the, greatest maybe
the greatest sports day in the city Of houston until
The texas win A Super bowl and that would be the.
Greatest but it's up, there. Man that game five was.
Incredible That Texas seahawks game was. Unbelievable just couldn't pull
off the. Wind but hopefully we'll be able to do
that On monday night up In. Seattle will do that.

to send my kids back to live with my parents
for high school to go to my high. School and you,
know they kind of negated everything BECAUSE i can't send

WAS i was. Ready, wait, wait what's your kid? Inventory, yeah.

SO'S i had five kids too in college right. Now
one in The university Of. Tuskegee she's, uh she's engineering
and computer.

Mage one's At university Of, alabama Roll. Tide she's a
law and sociology. MAJOR i got a junior in high.
School there's gonna be a senior At. EPISCOPAL i got
a sophomore in high school at e Piscol and THEN
i got, uh a seventh.

Grader, okay, WOW.

I know in my Timeline i'll See it'll just pop.

Up it'll be a huddle video AND i see number twenty,
three And i'm, like, yeah, like, MAN i.

Try to see the. RESEMBLANCE i don't see it just.

Yet he's not he's not.

Me he's a different he's a different lighter than. You
he's a.

Lighter he's he's he plays middle linebacker and. Outside he
kind of put him outside because he always played d
line because he was kind of pudgy.

Kid. Yeah, uh his game has changed a whole. Lot
he's a stand.

Up he'll play middle linebacker in, college probably mid major.

Schools.

Uh he can really play, ball, Man he's, smart HIS
iq levels.

Up he can rush the pass when you need him.

Too and you, know it's kind of hard being at
the private school because nobody really respects, it you. Know
AND i kind of took him there to kind of
get opportunity to grow without any real true expectations. Early
now that he's become a player THAT i think is
a recruitable and a damn good, player and he's grown
in the damn good. PLAYER i see what he can,
do AND i MEAN i just hope everybody else sees.

It but it's just hard because you, KNOW i went
to school Like, episcopal but on The West, coast our
private schools are our big, dogs you know What i'm.

Saying we carry the, ball we carry the big sticks over,
there you know WHAT i. Mean and HERE.

Uil has kind of done a disservice to the private
school and as a whole by forcing the private schools
if you want to play ul you gotta be SIX a,
WELL i, mean got eight hundred students, there there's no
reason why you play SIX a. Ball they would be
able to compete three four or maybe some little smaller
FIVE a, Programs but you can't force the school to
play six a. Ball but they use Excusive oh but

they get to, Recruit, no not, really because end of the,
day you got to get into, school right and they're
not giving you fifty scholarships and intuition forty thousand dollars a,
year you know WHAT i.

Mean so they're not gonna do.

That so there's a lot of stuff THAT i think
they use it excuse to kind of keep the private schools.

Down florida is the same. Way florida's the exact same.

Way WHEN i got, there it was it was, like
wait a, second because here private doesn't mess with. Public
how's It florida private? Public like we'd played two private,
schools we played two public. Schools we're all the same.
District i'm, like what is? This it was just it
was kind of. Bizarre but they've had those same issues for.
Years but there would be some private schools that were exceptionally,

good of.

COURSE i mean you go To shamanad In. Florida you're
talking About bulls And, jackson Say thomas. Going all of
those schools have a lot of. Respect but THAT'S i,
mean it is not the, same LIKE i said In,
cali like It's Notre, dame It's Modern.

Day it's Saying John, bosco It's.

LOYOLA i, Mean loyola has three thousand boys on, campus
you know What i'm.

Saying like the same thing with Day La, sile you

Mean like those are, big huge programs and our private
but we all in the same league though we play each,
other you, know until it COMES i guess even in the,
playoffs LIKE i Played Modern, day but we could have
Played Long beach, probably Which Long beach probably is a
is a public school and it's been a public school.

Forever it's it's it's a bunch of different.

Schools BUT i wish it was like, that AND i
wish it was designed differently BECAUSE i think high school
here would be so much better one if you play
traditional high school ball or playing extra home, Field like
there's no reason for all these municipal stadiums to look
great and. Grandios but you don't get the same high
School friday night lights THAT i got.

there is the push to whatever the seeding is by,
record that's what it. Is so The texans last year
would have gone To Los, angeles Played, chargers and so
the other way. Around the second part is a reseeding
after the first. Round, now it's always been that the
lower seed when you go through the first three, games

the lowest seed plays the one, seed the other two
play in the division. Round they would recede after that first.
Round it probably gets you back to the same place.
Anyways but that's on the docket as. Well so those
two things are gonna be, considered which is gonna be
very interesting to watch coming up in these meetings how

football stuff his career before he became a Texan, talking
about those Florida State teams and that was such a
great era with Florida State and Miami and Florida and
it's great to get his perspective on that and being
part of the Texans Legends community.

But schedule release was this week and Drew Doherty and
I just due to scheduling conflicts, we really didn't get
a chance to do in the lab until today, and
so here it is in the Lab with Drew Doherty
and me John Harris.

Schedule, including the weird sort of happenstance that this is
only the third time in Texans history that we will
go to Seattle to play the Seahawks up in the
pack northwest.

Hey, the Texans have a schedule, and I have you
to talk with and I have you the third member
of us to listen and watch and kind of take part.
And so that's kind of fun. It's a good day.
It's Friday. We're shooting this on a Friday. Friday, as
we know, is the best day of the week because
of the promise that it holds for the weekend ahead.
(01:33):
And I'm pumped. Man. This is a pretty I think
in terms of schedules, I don't see a whole lot
that daunts me or that frightens me or anything. I
don't see any Blizzard games on the horizon. Maybe it'll
be cold in Kansas City in December, maybe, but it's
still kind of early in December. The hottest it'll get
is that probably Jacksonville game. But by then you're it's
(01:55):
on the first day of fall technically, but can't be
too too bad. And then you've got some you got
a three banger there in November. But what was your
first what was the first thing that stood out to
you when you saw the schedule a couple days ago.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Well, you know, knowing who we're playing and where they're playing,
I already knew that there were only five outdoor games. Yeahs, Yeah,
so I always checked that. That's that's you know, that's
just being down the sidelights. That's one of the things
I always check. You know, which games could I get,
you know in Kansas City, Baltimore, you never know where
those get put.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
You know, you could have that. You know Baltimore very
well and.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Ought to be pretty nice when when you're there in October.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Yah, yeah, that that could be pretty nice. I always
worry about Jacksonville if they do put it in September,
because September, you know, he said it technically it's the
first day of fall.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
But it's it's on.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
The same latitude line as Houston. It is a little
bit different. But I've I've played, I've coached many a
game in Jacksonville at that time time of the year.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Yeah, it can be hot, but by then, like the edge,
the edge is off the awful you know, like hot,
but it won't be awful, awful, awful hot.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
I hope. Now.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
We were there week three in twenty three and that
was the day that things got turned around. And I
remember we went to dinner the night before with you know,
my my good friends, you know, guys that I coached
from I was, you know, younger, and I just remember like,
hey man, you got Kansas City and you know, jackson
you guys take it easy on us, man, like rozero
(03:32):
and two. We didn't look good against Indianapolis. You know,
CJ did throw it well in that second half, and
I just remember them kind of like, yeah, well, you know,
we'll take it easy on you.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
On Sunday, it was Decade.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
And they were getting and then they got booed into
the halftime they were yeah, the home fans were nothing.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Yeah, And things just turned around at that moment for
this franchise. I mean from that point, you know, that
made them one to two. But the next week it
was the Steelers. They got two and two, and you thought, man, call,
did we have something with this football team, with this
organization that we've been lacking? And so you know, Jacksonville
week three. But I think the one thing that stuck
to me, Drew was early by week four primetime games
(04:12):
in that Monday night game at Seattle, like.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Oh my god.
Speaker 5 (04:17):
But all that.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Being said, I felt like there was fairness in the schedule.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
I didn't feel like last year.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Like I looked at last year, like three primetime games, damn,
thirteen games in a row, damn to start the season.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Oh and we're going to Canton.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Oh god, So you know you had all that going on,
and this year it's like we're gonna start camp at
the regular time. It's an early buy yep. But the
the long travel games are spread out. Yeah, so you've
got one in week one, one week seven, one in
week seventeen. So like if you weren't gonna put them together,
so you could do like one big road trip to

spread them out, that's the most exactly I'm doing.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
I thought there was a chance the two LA games
you might or the or in La Seattle combo, right
and you stay up in San Francisco or wherever. Yeah right, yeah,
and do do something like that. But it didn't work
out that way. And yeah, I saw. What I really
stood out to me was the first seven weeks, you're
(05:23):
only home two games. You have four roadies those two
in the bye, but you got the buy mixed in there.
So it kind of lessons that I just remember the
Gauntlet of twenty twenty where.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
You had all those.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Teams right and legend and had a coaching change in
large part because of that that start to that season. Uh.
And then I remember two years ago getting schedule and
it's all noon games, which was funny, and that worked
out well, that worked out really well.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
For that team, you know. Yeah, so it was it was,
it was all good.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
But let's just I think that that I think the
toughest stretch of that schedule, Drew is gonna be that
you know, that includes.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
I think a trip to Indy and then home for
the Bills.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Yeah, and then at Kansas City on Sunday night. Now
you get the mini buy in between the Bills and
the Chiefs, but the man to play the Bills and
the Chiefs back to back. I mean, we did that
last year playing the Chiefs and the Ravens, but we
did that within five days. Now at least we've got, like,
you know, a week and a half between.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
The Bills and the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
But, man's that's a tough stretch.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
But to finish with three out.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Of four at home, yeah, and to have three in
a row after the Seattle trip, boy, that's when you
really could start making some headway of not traveling, just
getting in a routine and winning those games before you
go back out.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
On the road.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
And I want to say, when we go back out
on the road after those three, I think it's to
go to Tennessee. Which, look, I think Tennessee's going to
be better, but we haven't. You know, we've had success
at in Tennessee lately. I think I'm trying to remember
last time we lost I think was the COVID year
at twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
But from twenty nineteen on.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
I mean, that's the only game, you know, with a
full relatively full stadium, we've only we've won every game
just that COVID year that we lost that game in
twenty twenty, and that was a tremendous That's one of
the more underrated great games I've ever been to in
my life.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
That was incredible that day.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
But we've had success in Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
So you follow up those three at home, like, Okay,
let's knock these three out. Good opponents, but let's knock
these three out. You should be favored in all three
games at home. Let's knock them out. And then instead
of going on the road to Baltimore or going on
the road to Kansas City. You're going to Tennessee, a
place where you've won a lot of ball games and
a division opponents. So you know, I feel like this

this schedule overall was equitable.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
I just know that's going to be one long trip
to Seattle.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
But once you get done with that, you have I
have some you know, some breathing room to get back
on track.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Let's rewind too, Okay, that Seattle game in twenty seventeen,
you're going You've basically almost gone three thousand days in
between trips to Seattle last time you went there. Yeah,
in fact, the exact number is I just had it
pulled up, and the exact number of days in between
(08:26):
you're twenty seventeen, which was October twenty ninth of twenty seventeen,
trip then to Seattle to now which is October twentieth
this year. Two thousand, nine hundred eleven days. And that
was a memorable week because of all the stuff that
went on.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Oh yeah, Dwayne, and then on top of.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
All that, Dwayne Brown had held out comes back just
and that's his last game he plays as a Houston Texan.
Played well enough to protect and have led to Sean
and the Boys put up on a amazing offensive output,
and you know, the Texans offense walked off the field
with the lead in that game, and then Seahawks drive
(09:09):
and win it and we get on the plane and
the Astros and the Dodgers the World Series. It's game
five here at it was at the Juice Box dik
In Park, and that's one of the epic games in
franchise history. I think probably the top five Houston Astros
franchise just Donnybrook man, I mean, back and forth, back
(09:29):
and forth, and the plane that we're riding on, You're
hearing all these oh's people following it. Like Shane Leckler,
I think was.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Had a t V jersey on as we walk on
a plane. We walked by he had a two V
jersey on. I contend that had we held on in
that game in some way, shape or form the way
the game was played and the Astros won, that would
have been one of the greatest days in Houston sports history.
I mean it was as it was because that's arguably
the greatest World Series game of all time. Yeah, and
I'm that game was unbelievable, and I I think what's

fascinating about it, Drew, is this trip to Seattle.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
So we've been in the league.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
This is gonna be year twenty three. Yeah, it's been there.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
It's only a third time we've been there.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Something goofy happened. It was my first year of the
team in nine. You went to Arizona and you went
to Saint Louis.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
They flipped. They flipped Arizona and Seattle for some reason.
I guess because they did something would travel.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Yeah, yeah, I think it's like it would have been
a punnet. I don't know, but yeah, you didn't have
to make that trip for some reason.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Right, and so we didn't go there five to seventeen,
it was twelve years between visits and then eight years
you know since seventeen. So it's only been up there
three times and you've beaten the Seahawks, but you've never
beaten him up there in Seattle.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
So maybe that's another, you know, check mark of things.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
That lost lots of first you can accomplish if you
do that. So that would be one. If you were
to win in balt More, You've never done that. You've
only beaten them twice here, but I've won in Baltimore
so that's Yeah, those are two pretty notable things that
you could accomplish.

You want to beat Lamar Jackson. Never beaten Lamar Jackson anywhere? Yeah,
anywhere at the point in time. Boys on six', ten
we're talking about.

One, yeah that was such an incredible.

DAY i remember thinking as we were flying out to
see and there was so much that was going on
with the team at that, time AND i meant a
ton That saturday. NIGHT i remember we went out to,
dinner AND i know the team was having like all
these meetings about what they were gonna do On, sunday
where they gonna, play where they're not gonna, play and
then it ended up being one of the most incredible
football Games i've ever seen in an incredible. Environment And
(12:20):
drew brought up At Dwayne brown. Situation he played in that,
game flew To, seattle played in that, game came.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
BACK i saw him on that.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Money we chatted for a little bit because we'd see
each other for a, while and literally the next day
he's off The seattle to play for The seahawks after that.
Trade so there was a lot of kind of craziness
for that, week but had we been able to hang.
ON i just remember getting on a plane and the
way we had to get in a. Plane we had
to actually walked through the players to get to our
spot in the. Back AND i just remember Seeing lekler
on the plane in nol Two, Bay, jersey and we
(12:49):
were getting. Updates we would kind of Get Wi fi
spotty on the, plane but stuff to kind of, refresh
and the score kept going back and, forth and we're, like,
man what is going on AND i remember being on
a bus is the one thing we didn't.

Say we were on a bus.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Coming back from the airport and we were going right
by formerly minute made Now dyke And, park right as
The ashers were scoring a game winning. GROWING i was
watching a game on my phone as we were going
Past dyke And park and they scored to win the
game as right as we were going.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
By it was absolute. Madness had The texas one that.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Day it might have been one of the, greatest maybe
the greatest sports day in the city Of houston until
The texas win A Super bowl and that would be the.
Greatest but it's up, there. Man that game five was.
Incredible That Texas seahawks game was. Unbelievable just couldn't pull
off the. Wind but hopefully we'll be able to do
that On monday night up In. Seattle will do that.

to send my kids back to live with my parents
for high school to go to my high. School and you,
know they kind of negated everything BECAUSE i can't send
them back, Now, yeah send them.

WAS i was. Ready, wait, wait what's your kid? Inventory, yeah.

SO'S i had five kids too in college right. Now
one in The university Of. Tuskegee she's, uh she's engineering
and computer.

Mage one's At university Of, alabama Roll. Tide she's a
law and sociology. MAJOR i got a junior in high.
School there's gonna be a senior At. EPISCOPAL i got
a sophomore in high school at e Piscol and THEN
i got, uh a seventh.

Grader, okay, WOW.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
I know in my Timeline i'll See it'll just pop.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
Up it'll be a huddle video AND i see number twenty,
three And i'm, like, yeah, like, MAN i.

Try to see the. RESEMBLANCE i don't see it just.
Speaker 5 (19:23):
Yet he's not he's not.

Me he's a different he's a different lighter than. You
he's a.

Lighter he's he's he plays middle linebacker and. Outside he
kind of put him outside because he always played d
line because he was kind of pudgy.

Kid. Yeah, uh his game has changed a whole. Lot
he's a stand.

Up he'll play middle linebacker in, college probably mid major.
Speaker 5 (19:40):
Schools.
Speaker 7 (19:41):
Uh he can really play, ball, Man he's, smart HIS
iq levels.
Speaker 5 (19:45):
Up he can rush the pass when you need him.
Speaker 7 (19:47):
Too and you, know it's kind of hard being at
the private school because nobody really respects, it you. Know
AND i kind of took him there to kind of
get opportunity to grow without any real true expectations. Early
now that he's become a player THAT i think is
a recruitable and a damn good, player and he's grown
in the damn good. PLAYER i see what he can,
do AND i MEAN i just hope everybody else sees.

It but it's just hard because you, KNOW i went
to school Like, episcopal but on The West, coast our
private schools are our big, dogs you know What i'm.
Speaker 5 (20:17):
Saying we carry the, ball we carry the big sticks over,
there you know WHAT i. Mean and HERE.
Speaker 7 (20:23):
Uil has kind of done a disservice to the private
school and as a whole by forcing the private schools
if you want to play ul you gotta be SIX a,
WELL i, mean got eight hundred students, there there's no
reason why you play SIX a. Ball they would be
able to compete three four or maybe some little smaller
FIVE a, Programs but you can't force the school to
play six a. Ball but they use Excusive oh but

they get to, Recruit, no not, really because end of the,
day you got to get into, school right and they're
not giving you fifty scholarships and intuition forty thousand dollars a,
year you know WHAT i.

Mean so they're not gonna do.
