Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, this is a real treat. We've got second rounder
arionte Ersery. You go by Tay and tell me the
Texans move up. They trade a couple of picks away
to move up to get you. What's that mean to you?
And what are you going through right now? Man?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
I'm fired up to be a Houston Texan man, and
I just I just want to give all credit to
the Texans for taking that chance on me and invested
in me as a player, as a man.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
And like I said, they gonna get everything I got.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Well, they do take a chance on you, but it's
well warranted. I mean, you start the final thirty eight
games of your career at left tackle in the Big
Ten at Minnesota, you're a team captain, you go through
so much. What are you like as a football player?
Who are you and what are you going to bring
to this team?
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Man?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
I'm bringing that energy, I'm bringing that every play mentality,
just knocking guys off the ball. Just a true offensive lineman, man,
that personality. Man, just to go out there and be
a dominant force. That's what I'm bringing.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Man.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
You say, a dominant force and the best offensive lineman
throughout the course of his in between the lines have
been nasty, They've been mean. How does that apply to you?
How true is that of you?
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Man? If you look at the tape, that's that's well presented.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
The thing the good thing about it, I can't hide it,
you know, It's just my personality. So when I'm out
there on the field, I just try to showcase my personality.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
So, Tay Ursery, you're joining a team that's quarterbacked by c. J. Stroud.
You know quite a bit about him. I'm guessing just
by what you saw in college, what you've seen the
last few years in the pro. What are your first
impressions of him? And what do you think about the
guy you're going to be helping protect.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Man, CJ. Stroud as a baller.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Man, I'm so honored to be, you know, be a
guy to help out and come in and protect them man.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
And I just want to give him all man like.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
I'm just super stoked, super excited, and I know I'm
going to a great organization.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Yeah, Tay Ursery of Minnesota, you came here and visited
with the Texans in the pre draft process. What do
you know about this place? What do you think about it?
What are your first impressions from when you saw it
and from whom you talk with here.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
As soon as I walked in the building, you can
just tell the vibe is as different as guys got
a ton of energy, that they're all about ball, and
they're they're young, you know, and and I'm all about that. Man,
just going in there and it's just nothing but straight ball.
So when I when I came in there, I fell
in love with it. Everybody was nice, and everybody was,
you know, speaking highly on me. So you know, I'm
(02:23):
just excited man to be here. Honestly.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Yeah, you know, your offensive line coach, Cole Popovich is
his first year here. The first year offensive coordinator is
Nick Kayley. What did you see from them? And what
are your impressions and what do you know about those
two guys that.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Two guys that love ball, two guys that got amazing personality,
and two guys man that I look forward to getting
around a little bit more and getting to know on
a on a way more personal level. Like I said, man,
them two right there, we had great conversation.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
I'm just glad they gave me opportunity. I'm blessed.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Yeah. Demiko Ryans is the head coach. He played on
the defensive side of the ball. But he's a guy
who's known for having high energy. He's talked at length
about swarm, the mentality, the special work ethic, and relentless mindset.
You're one of those guys that seems to typify that
swarm mentality, aren't.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
You, Yes, sir, definitely a guy came from a big
culture school. You know, family, forget about me. I love
you planning for the guy that's next to you, being
in the office of mom and having at that nasty mondset.
Just go out there being physical every play. Like I said, man,
plan is one that's the most important thing.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Hey, when you got the call that you were headed
to the NFL and you were headed to the Texans,
what was the celebration?
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Like, Hey, Man, family was definitely excited. I was excited.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
I'm just glad that you know the way, it is
over and it's time to get to business. It's time
to get the ball. And like I said, I'm blessed
the h in Houston organization chose me.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Yeah, but before you do that, you're gonna celebrate a
little bit. What are you gonna do? How are you
gonna kind of live this moment up.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Man.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
I'm here with my family and my friends, Guys who
saw me when I first started football to now where
I am right now and always been there and always
have my back.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
So I'm gonna go down there and I'm gonna celebrate
with them.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Tay Ersrie, you are a Houston Texan. We're excited that
is the case. We can't wait to see you here
in town very very soon. Best of luck, and again, congratulations, Yes, sir,
